Superstitious Book Tag [CC] - Duration: 5:14.Hi, YouTube. It's Kathy. I'm still really sick, so even though I wanted
to film something today, I was like, "no, I'm just gonna chill out; I'm just gonna be
tired. I'm just gonna finish reading a book in bed".
So I finished that book in bed and then I popped into my subscription box on YouTube,
and saw that Natasha from My Reading is Odd posted a video today.
And I was like, "she's away getting married; why is she posting videos? Oh, yeah, you can
schedule videos". So she's super rad. I'll link her down below.
And she got married today, Friday the 13th because she and the person she married are
spooky, and I love spooky people. And she decided to post a Superstitious Book Tag,
an original tag, and I thought, "you know what? I'm gonna do it".
That being said, I'm still sick, so I didn't want to move my stuff around, and also, it is...
6:13pm, which means that the sun is going down, so I need to get this done right
now because the lights from this window are the only lights that look even half decent in my
apartment. So without further adieu, I'm going to try
to get this all done before it is too dark for you to see my face on the camera.
Just gonna read it off my phone. Question #1 is: Friday the 13th is an "unlucky"
day - what book have you been unlucky to read? For this, I'm going to go with Outlander,
the first Outlander book by Diana Gabaldon. I really did not like it. Did not see what
the hype was. I read it years ago. Thought Jamie was an abusive asshat. Did not enjoy
it. Did not finish reading the [series]. Don't care that there's a tv show, even though I
freaking love Scotland. I freaking miss wandering around at 2 o'clock in the morning and talking
to dudes in kilts. It was a good time in my life. Did not like Outlander.
And already I've pissed some people off, I'm sure.
Number 2: Rabbit's feet bring good luck - what new release has you hopping with excitement?
It Devours! It Devours! comes out on Tuesday. I'm super
excited. I've already purchased a signed copy months ago, but I'm at the top of my list
for the ebook from my library, which I will get on Tuesday, so I will have already read
it by the time it gets here, which is the exact same thing I did with Turtles All the
Way Down. It came out this Tuesday. I listened to the audiobook on Tuesday. Still haven't
got my signed copy yet because I live on an island in Canada, and it takes forever to
get post. Number 3: As a cricket in your house brings good
luck - what book villain would you NEVER want to find in your house?
Levana. I -- no! Levana from the Lunar Chronicles. She is evil.
She is so evil. And has the mind control thing going on, and
just, no thank you. No, no, no, no, no, I'm good.
There's no room in my tiny apartment for you. This next one requires me to get up. One second.
So the next one is: Step on a crack and you'll break your mother's back - show us the most
beaten up and battered book in your house. This isn't even my book, but that's probably
why it's beaten to hell. This is a Norton's anthology of all the Shakespeare, and it is
not looking so pretty. This is my roommate's book. I also have a anthology of Shakespeare,
uh, which is over there, and I'm not going to go get it, 'cause it's under a bunch of
Nancy Drew books. Um, it's looking fine. This is not looking
so fine. Roommate - this makes me cry a little. Number 6: breaking a mirror brings 7 years
bad luck - what book could you read for 7 years?
And honestly? I know I just read it. I want to reread it as soon as it gets here.
And it's Turtles All the Way Down. Turtles All the Way Down is honestly so good.
And I am so happy about it. I'm gonna talk more about it in my wrap up, but uh, oh...
There were so many feels. It made me cry twice. Just some of the technical things that he
did with the writing really, really astounded me. And also, if you ever have the chance
to listen to the audiobook, the person doing the narration, I believe her name is Kate
Rudd - absolutely fantastic. The protagonist in this book has invasive
thoughts and thought spirals, and just the way the narrator narrated, you know, basically
the other voice in your head telling you to do things you shouldn't be doing was just-
it was so good, guys. I'm so excited to read it again. And I'm not
usually a rereader of books. And number 7: the last one - An apple a day
keeps the doctor away - what books has the best food description?
Honestly, the Song of Ice and Fire books would be so much shorter if George R. R. Martin
didn't discuss every single thing every eats ever, so I definitely got a little bit hungry
reading those books. I mean, even the character that kept showing
up, and I kept getting really, really annoyed, has a food-related name.
So tags work where I'm supposed to tag some people to do this. I am going to leave all
of their links down below, but I think I'm going to tag Jen Campbell, because I know
that on occasion she watches these videos. I'd also really love to see Simon from Savidge
Reads do this. And let's see if I can think of somebody who's not
from the UK... I would love it if Saajid from Books Are My
Social Life did this tag because I think he would have some excellent answers.
Alright, it only took me seven minutes to do that, so now I'm gonna edit it, put
it online. And look! There was still sun. Hopefully you can still see me; I think that
you probably can, even though I have a potato for a camera.
And, of course, if you want to do this tag, please do this tag. I think it would be wonderful
if Natasha came back from her honeymoon and there were just, like, hundreds of people
that had done her original tag. I think that would be a great wedding present.
And now, I bid you adieu. Happy reading! Bye!

EAT THE WORLD BIGGEST CREPE! Must-Try Harajuku sweets, crepe and ice cream - Duration: 11:40.AH!
There it comes!
What?
Did you come here to enjoy eating it or to take pictures?
I want to take pictures!
Please give this a name!
Hello everyone!
I am Harajuku Fashion YouTuber CathyCat.
My name is Asou Natsuko, call me Natchan.
Today we are doing a special collaboration between Ask Japanese
and the Japan in Motion TV programme. This is our first time!
That's right. In this video we'll introduce lots of fun things of Japan to you.
We have come to Harajuku today.
We are just right in the middle of Takeshita Street.
What's the most famous food of Harajuku!?
What? Crepe and such?
- That's it! - But there are so many more now.
There is also cotton candy now and many other new sweets.
That's why we wiii pig out until we become chunky!
We will go home fat!
Let's go!
There we are. We have come to the Strawberry House!
We visited the Cafe Crepe Strawberry House near La Foret Harajuku.
I picked one of their most popular items the Strawberry Chocolate cookie crepe
Natchan ordered the crepe she enjoyed in her school days.
Chocolate Banana Cream.
Oh it's ready!
Here you go. - Thank you.
That's yours. - Thank you.
Wow this is exciting. - It's been a while since I had this.
I just remembered the feeling I had in primary school when eating this.
I feel 12 years old now.
Let's eat this!
This tastes so soft and fluffy.
Okay. I heard that here you can ask them to put EVERYTHING in a crepe.
Everything? - E V E R Y T H I N G
With so many possible toppings for crepe
what would happen if we put all sweet toppings into one MASSIVE crepe?
Let's do this!
AH!
There is comes!
Please hold this with both hands, it's heavy.
It really is super heavy.
This is probably the weight of a newborn baby.
Really? - Seriously, hold it!
It has at least 3 kilos.
Whoaa! - Heavy, right?!
That's the weight of a baby!
- Shall we eat this? - Shall we dig in?
Ready GO!
Staff: Cathy your face! Cathy: What?
What's going on?
Well done Cathy!
No!!!
Wow this crepe is HUGE!
Guess how many toppings there are?
Banana, kiwi, strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, peach, melon, whipped cream,
custard cream, frozen yoghurt, cheesecake, creme brulee, tiramisu,
oreo cookies, vanilla ice cream, chocolate ice cream, green tea ice cream,
chocolate sauce, strawberry sauce, caramel sauce, green tea powder,
and more than 20 toppings are in this MASSIVE CREPE.T
They first had to make three large crepes,
and then rolled them into one massive bouquet crepe.
Does it taste alright?
It tastes super rich.
You can enjoy it from different angles.
It's a real luxorious treat for people who love sweets.
So now....
since we got everything in one big crepe...
I think it will be around 3000 yen (around 30 dollars(
If you say it was 3000 I say it will be 4000 (around 40 Dollars)
Are you sure. - Yes that's my bid.
How much is this crepe?
4130 yen
I have no clue wether that means its cheap or expensive.
This is a good chance to call all your friends and have a huge crepe together.
Just be careful not to get it all over you. - That's true.
Also let's not get it all over your nose.
Since we are Ask Japanese, let's take a quick break before our next stop
and ask what sweets Japanese people like to eat.
Do you have a favourite Japanese type sweet?
I like Pongashi.
What is Pongashi?
You add rice to the Pongashi machine...
You let is explode and it's done.
It's super tasty. We mix it with sugar.
Tasty.
The base of it is Japanese rice? - Exactly.
Just normal rice right? - Yes.
Where did you buy or eat that one recently?
I had it at a festival in my hometown.
I like Onimanjyu (Demon Ricecake).
Demon? - Demon Ricecake.
What type of ricecake is that?
Sweet potatoes are cut into little bits.
and then wrap them in ricecake.
And that's a demon?
That's a demon ricecake.
Devilish ricecakes?
What's good about them?
They have them in local supermarkets
I eat them there all the time.
Kibidango are tasty! (sweet dumplings)
What type of sweet are they?
Do you know Okayama? They're a speciality of that prefecture.
I heard those sweets appear in a story.
It's from the Momotaro fairy tale of Okayama.
He goes out to slay deamons. That's what made kibidango famous.
In the story what happens when you eat them?
In the story they are used by Momotaro to make friends.
He makes friends with a monkey and pheasant and such...
If you eat them you get new friends?
That's probably what they tried to tell us through the story.
I am from outside of Tokyo, from Kyoto.
We like Matcha sweets, Matcha cookies and other things made of green tea.
People from abroad like it too.
Those were all our questions, thank you.
Now back to Cathy and Natchan.
We heard there is a new and incredibly popular place
in Harajuku that opened this year.
It's the Roll Ice Cream Factory.
There is always a huge line and as you can see, even in the rain.
So what's so special about this place then?
Here we are.
We have come to the ice cream place.
Here we are.
Wow this cue is huge.
How long did you stand in line for this?
One hour and a half.
What that long?
What's the main reason? Eating the food or taking pictures of it?
Pictures.
Hello.
Sorry you look so busy.
Are there people from other countries coming here too?
Yes many.
They see pictures on SNS and then decide to come here.
Since we are in Harajuku today...
Let's get her to make a vivid one.
A colorful ice cream that you could only get in Harajuku
I got it.
You can do it? Nice.
Here we are. - Wait, that's not ice cream.
That's right. We don't have ice here. We first only use liquids.
We add them on this plate which is about -14 degreen cold.
We add it on the plate, and let it freeze right there.
Wow that sounds fun.
Please make out ice cream then. - I will.
I can see corn flakes!
I will ad cornflakes to give the ice cream some crunch.
I have never seen liquid ice cream.
This looks fun.
It already has started freezing!
The result must be so colourful!
I will start rolling it now. - Rolling?
Wow!
That's such a thin layer.
Ice creamin that shape...
I haven't seen that before. Kind of original.
Finished.
Thank you so much!
Please give this unique ice cream a name!
Cathy's and Natchan's Harajuku Date Style.
It's almost too cute to eat.
Before eating it I wanna take lots of pictures.
I can see now why everyone does that.
Ready go....
3 2 1
Wow.
This is fun.
Cathy's and Natchan's Harajuku Date Style.
Wow we are in tune!
Let's try it!
There are so many food textures in this.
Candy, cornflakes, whipped cream, ice cream....
I have never eaten something that's so much fun!
It's like a party in my mouth.
I can taste many types of sweetness.
There is the sweetness I enjoyed as child.
And then the tastes I started liking as adult.
All of that mixed into one.
It's so tasty.
It's important that the product they sell is cute but...
Have a look at the cute decoration of this store. - Pon Pons!
Having cute curtains and mirrors in the place...
creates an important background for those who take pictures here.
Great for instagram. Also the lights here.
They are placed so you look good. That one over there is great.
It's like beauty light.
We must look a bit more pretty in these shots right now.
What do you think?
Sparkle sparkle
We look pretty.
We have had so much food! We pigged out!
We probably got fat.
Good possibiltity of that.
First we had that massive crepe today...
And then had a look at this new type of ice cream store...
We compared the old-school Harajuk sweets and the new Harajuku sweets.
Cathy how was it.
It was good.
It was sexy....
That was the wrong Japanese.
There was so much color.
I like that you can order things different to other people.
Good point.
I think that's a part of the Harajuku culture.
Freedom of style.
Freedom of style. Flashy. Unique.
I felt nostalgic and I learned new things about Harajuku too.
Please come and hang out with me in Harajuku again.
Sure, thank you.
Thank you and thanks for the feast.

Silent Letters in English Part 2 by Speaklish - Duration: 4:21.Subscribe to our channel Speaklish and Enjoy Learning English. Hit the Bell icon and never miss any update.
Hello everyone, thanks for coming back to our channel Speaklish, Enjoy Learning English.
Here's the second part of our series on silent letters in English words. So without further ado, let's start with the letter E.
The letter e can often be silent at the end of a word. I'm pretty sure you know this one already. Like these examples :
clue
Bake
Taste
Clue Bake Taste
But that e at the end although it might be silent it can affect the pronunciation
Of the vowel sound before it
Let's look at these examples
Hop
hope
Sit
site
hid > hide
Slid > Slide
so
See how the e at the end although
It's not pronounced, is affecting the vowel sound before it. It makes it longer.
So hid becomes hide.
But if the e is the final letter in the word
But it's the only vowel sound, then it needs to be pronounced, like
in these examples
He
She We
E can also be
Silent at the end of past tense regular verbs which all end in -ed
But they are not always pronounced like it is in "wanted"
So you can hear that -ed sound here.
-ed -ed
It's its own syllable. But a lot of time that E is not pronounced. Looked
Asked Played Baked Wrapped
Now they can be a little bit tricky, so let's do it again
looked
asked played
baked
wrapped
Perfect! So a G can also be silent too. Think about the words Sign,
champagne
design
or foreign. All of these examples have a silent G and
the combination G H
Can also be silent when it comes after a vowel sound
though
High Light Daughter Bright
Now the letter H is often silent, too
Often when it's following a W. Like in the examples :
What
When
Why
Whistle and
Sometimes it is not pronounced at the start of a word like Honest and Hour
Sometimes the letter H is not pronounced when it follows any of these three letters
C G or R
Now most of the time CH is pronounced
but on small occasions or rare occasions, it's not pronounced. The H is silent.
Choir Echo Ghost
Rhythm Rhyme
The I is not usually silent. Its usually pronounced, except in the word BUSINESS.
That's it for part 2 of our series on silent letters
Thanks everyone for watching and don't forget to subscribe our Channel if you like the video. Thank You!
