It′s time again to get coloured
and lost in the devotional zeal of
Durga Puja celebrations
that is marked as one of the most awaited
and biggest festival celebrations of the Bengalis.
The worship of goddess Durga
for the six days of celebration takes place on a
on a magnificent scale among the people.
The honour of celebrating the unfathomable power
of Goddess Durga.
In the battle, she fought and killed
the Buffalo demon Mahishasura
and restored heaven to the Gods.
Since then the goddess is invoked for
protection from the powers of evil.
The huge and artistic pandals,
magnificent idols of goddess Durga,
people dancing on the beats of Dhaki (drum) and
evenings surrounded with the divine tunes of Goddess Durga aarti
are the unforgettable features of every Durga Puja celebrations.
Hi, I'm Ananya Banerjee.
I'm going to take all of you in a pujo tour
pujo?
Durga pujo is round the corner
So come with me
I going to take you
Mumbai Pandal hopping
27th September to 30th September
will meet everyone and do Facebook live
we will have fun
Hi everybody, I'm at Shivaji Park
It's one of the most oldest Durga Pooja happening in Mumbai
82nd year
I have to come to Shivaji Park and buy
one, is it one? No
two, maybe three
maybe four sarees
and the beauties are all here
I'm spoiled for choice
Let me see which one I should buy
This looks good?
I'm in Powai
What I can see the goddess is already depicted in
Jamini Roy's painting. So very unique I think
I have not seen idol Durga like this. Come let's go!
That's the original painting
So let's go and check out a few food stalls
The Bengali love for bhaja
You know what is bhaja? Anything deep fried
we love it! Very unhealthy but very yummy
watch me guys eat
I see a lot of food over here
Basa? So it's bhetki
They claim that it's not basa. If it's basa then I will not touch it
so thank you
I'm going to try fish fry now
a bit of Kasundi
It is bhetk. I had a doubt
cause most of the places you will find these days that
they use basa. This is not basa I'm glad
very nice
and if you want to know how to make authentic Bengali fish fry
Stay tuned! I'm going to show you in my kitchen how to do that
Till then happy eating!
I'm in Bengali Satvajanik Association in Powai
This is the largest pooja in Powai
so let's check out today's pooja
<folk dance>
Today I'm at Tulip Star celebrating North Bombay Sarvajanik Durga Pujo
very very popular Durga pujo and
as you can see I'm being pampered with a plate full of bhog
I actually wait for the whole year for this
Fabulous experience. Divine grace that makes the food
so beautiful and so yummy
Ma Durga's blessings
As you can see the beautiful idol behind me
I'm at Lokhandwala Durga Pujo
bolo Durga Mai ki jai
This is the man himself.
The largest Mumbai's Durga pooja happens here
Aarti also happened with the bhog
This is bhog's Kichuri
Bhoger Kichuri is always the best
This is the yummy Payesh which is the part of the entire bhog
This is the quintessential Kichuri, labra, beguni
and chutney
and here comes the Ledikini.
It looks like gulab jamun but it's not
Happy Durga Pujo
<Shlok>
It was a complete celebration of victory over demons
that are present inside us!
I strongly believe that these days
are powerful in itself as it helps to attain
self realisation of eradicating negativity
and bring in the positivity.
To fight and conquer demons
and also personify the Shakti.
It is the victory over anger, jealousy and aggressive aspects.
In fact Durga ma is a symbol of a multitasking woman
who have powers and every woman should be capable
to use these powers in their life and
take pride of their Shakti!
The entire city drowned in the colours
of joyous Durga Puja celebrations!
Today is Vijaydashmi
Now we are in Tejpal Hall
We are going to play now
Im going to participate in Sindur Khela.
Viserjan will be done
After that we are going to greet each other Shubho Vijoya
Stay tuned and keep watching
So there is a little procedure
while we say bye to Ma Durga
We treat them with a paan and some sweet
put it in her mouth and we whisper that
Ma Durga please come back again next year
So this is how the thali looks like
There is paan, a diya, methai and sindur
you put sindur on Ma Durga
you put a little sweet
and say bye to her with a paan
Not only to Ma Durga. We do to all children including the lion
I think it's a beautiful procedure
There is another procedure because she is going away
today. So not much of cooking happens
because everyone is sad
Breakfast is always with curd and poha
and a bit of dodhi korma
I think we really need a dose of sugar
in the mornings. So you know we have a long day
and then we are waiting to do sindur khela
So I think thats the sweet you start with a sweet tooth
and something sweet to have
so this gives a lot of energy to carry on throughout the day
good breakfast to have
You can see what has happened to my face
It's almost playing like holi
Sindur Khela
After putting Sindur on Ma Durga
we tend to put sindur on all our friends
and it's vice versa
So I'm all covered with Sindur
These 4-5 days were full of joy when we Bengalis
get to celebrate Durga pujo at a grandeur level
from visiting artistic pandals,
having delicious bhog,
meeting friends,
shopping for sarees,
flaunting jewellery and
amazing mouthwatering food delights at various food corners held at every nook and corner.
Yes, without any fasting just feasting!
Well, all good things come to an end and so does
the merrymaking also comes to an end.
On the day of Vijaydashmi when the victory of
overcoming the demon is celebrated.
it is said that Ma Durga is ready to go back to
her place in the Himalayas.
We bid goodbye to the goddess
and wait for her to come back next year.
See you next year!
