Donald Trump will promise South Korea and Japan the protection of America's nuclear
umbrella against North Korea when he visits next month.
That's according to Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun.
Citing sources in Washington, the report says he will make the pledge during a speech in
South Korea.
He will stress that the North Korea situation is the administration's most important challenge
and look to up the pressure on the regime.
Trump suggested on Friday that negotiations with North Korea might still be possible,
but added that they remain ready for "numerous things."
The U.S. President will be making a five-nation Asia tour from November 3rd, which will include
visits to South Korea, China and Japan.
