Last week, we saw the deadliest mass shooting in American history.
The killer wounded 527 people and killed 59, including 4 Canadians.
This should be a time for all of us to reflect on what went wrong to allow this to happen.
But not over at FOX!
That's where FOX Business host Kennedy had this to say.
"If that psychopath had God forbid, driven a truck into that crowd and killed 100 people,
would we be talking about truck control?"
Well, FOX now maybe you're right.
Maybe Americans should start treating guns the same way they treat their trucks.
Trucks are regulated; their owners are tested, licensed and registered.
We legislate how much alcohol someone can consume before using one and you can't take
16 trucks up into a hotel room to kill people with.
If you treated guns like trucks, you'd be better off.
Now,
of course, a lot of Americans don't want more gun laws.
They say that laws won't save lives,
and that you can't stop people from doing crazy things.
Well, let's look at some laws that are on the books -
In Iowa, it's illegal to surf while drunk.
This seems logical until you stop to realize that Iowa is landlocked.
241 people died there from firearms in 2014.
In North Dakota, kangaroo boxing is illegal.
The number of gun deaths in North Dakota has gone up every year since 2006.
In 2014, ninety-six people died.
More people cannot have been punched by a kangaroo.
In Louisiana it's illegal to insult players at a sporting event –
the only good reason to make insulting players at a game illegal,
is to keep Donald Trump from showing up at your sporting event during the anthem.
In 2014:
896 people died there from firearms.
In Maryland, it is illegal to possess more than 3 turtles at one time.
Oh you can have 16 guns in a hotel room,
just not 3 turtles.
546 firearms deaths there in 2014.
In Alabama – bear wrestling matches are illegal.
Oh, you have the right to bear arms – just not the right to arm-wrestle bears.
I don't need the government telling me what animals I'm allowed to wrestle.
815 people died from firearms there.
In South Carolina, it's illegal to fish with dynamite.
Ooo you're getting warmer America!
In Montana it's against the law for a water sprinkler to get a passerby wet.
Protecting innocent bystanders from getting hit!
Warmer!
In Colorado City, snowball fights are illegal.
You're so hot America!
Also, way too over-protective,
but you're almost there, you're hot!
In South Dakota, it's illegal to shoot an animal from a plane.
Hot! hot! hot!
You're burning up!
And all across the USA –
Kinder Eggs are banned because the toys are too dangerous.
Cold!
You were so close, America.
Americans have all sorts of laws that protect them from doing stupid things.
But they will keep coming up with stupid reasons to block gun control.
Maybe it's time they started selling bullets in Kinder Eggs.
