Kim Seongju.

Sunny from Girls' Generation.

I.M from MONSTA X.

Hello, everyone.

The greatest K-Pop festival on Earth.

2017 K-Pop World Festival in Changwon.

I'm your host Kim Seongju.

Hello, I'm Sunny of Girls' Generation.

Nice to meet you.

I am I.M of MONSTA X.

Yes...

The greatest K-Pop festival on Earth.

We opened the show with an incredible opening

befitting this title.

At the end, J Black and the finalists

put on an impressive performance

where they became one through K-Pop.

People from different nationalities, cultures

and languages are able to come together

through the music of K-Pop.

This is the power of K-Pop.

That's right.

Powerful choreography used to be what came to mind

when you thought of K-Pop.

But now, the music, outfits, styles and more...

Everything related to K-Pop is loved by the world.

Thanks to the growing popularity of K-Pop,

the K-Pop World Festival in Changwon

is growing more popular.

The result being

that the competition is greater than ever.

The finalists who defeated the competition

are all standing on the stage before you.

Let's find out just fierce the competition

was for them.

The dream festival where the world becomes one

through K-Pop.

The K-Pop World Festival in Changwon.

Beginning in 2011

and being held for 7 years straight.

It's become the global festival

that represents K-Pop.

As the interest grows each year,

a new history is being written.

Which team will be crowned this year's winner?

Let's check out the first congratulatory song.

From the stars of K-Pop

to the stars of the world...

Loud applause for ASTRO's performance.

("Intro + Baby" by ASTRO)

2017 K-Pop World Festival in Changwon...

The first finalist team.

Let's meet the team from Nigeria.

Dancing like this is very hot.

But we are determined.

Dancing GOT7 because we just want to win.

("I Will Show You" Ailee by Ana Lucia)

Nigeria, U.S.A., Peru.

We watched these three teams.

I hear they're very nervous backstage.

But they're doing so well on stage.

Their mannerisms on stage are pretty much

like the pros.

It takes extensive practice to get that right.

Right.

I think I know how much the finalists rehearsed.

That's right.

We are joined by fans of K-Pop all over the world

that dream as they watch our K-Pop artists.

We have a congratulatory performance

that will heat things up even more.

They've become close with fans worldwide

with their cute and refreshing charm.

NCT 127.

("0 Mile" by NCT 127)

The finalists are headed somewhere

filled with excitement.

The center of K-Pop where all the hot

K-Pop stars gather.

They're at a "Music Bank" recording.

(The recording begins)

The stars receiving this grand applause

is the powerful and youthful girl group, GFRIEND.

(They sing along)

(GFRIEND!)

The finalists are excited by GFRIEND's song.

Next up

is the loveable girl group, APRIL.

They have the finalists laugh

and even cry.

APRIL's song reaches the climax

with the cheers from the finalists.

(The finalists cheer enthusiastically)

After APRIL's performance...

I love APRIL.

My favorite.

Yoon Chaekyung, I love you.

I love you.

APRIL appears in front of the Vietnam team

who just professed their love.

After the fun time with K-Pop stars...

The finalists arrive at the next location.

(Wow)

It's a hanbok store filled with grace, splendor

and beautiful colors.

They choose hanbok of their choice.

It looks so good on her.

It's so pretty.

Yes, I like it.

With detailed styling, they can't help be excited.

Photos are a must at a moment like this.

(Heading to a traditional village in hanbok)

Dressed in hanbok, the finalists head to

experience traditional culture.

(First up is a Hangul experience)

We'll try writing Hangul with the brush.

They write their names and meaningful words.

They may not be fluent but they do their best.

"Sarang." Betty.

We love Korean.

They're quite good.

Next up is the nap experience.

Have a lie down.

It might be uncomfortable since

it's their first time with a bamboo body pillow.

But the tired finalists fall asleep in no time.

(Next is a taekwondo show)

A traditional taekwondo show and

cool wooden board breaking demonstration.

They're wide awake from their naps now

and attempt to break boards.

They really pack a punch, don't they?

They play a tour game to

choose their next destination.

(They play pitch-pot)

How will the first team do?

(A close miss)

The next arrow was so close.

What about this time?

(Success!)

She gets it in with a crisp sound.

(Some are happy while others are sad)

Both teams have made their choices.

Let's head out again.

They head to Myeong-dong, the food and

shopping center of Seoul.

They're excited about all the street food.

(Their first dish is a banana crepe)

Just by looking at it, you can tell it's sweet.

It's a choco banana crepe.

(So good)

You can't leave out spicy rice cakes.

(So good)

They even get fresh fruit juice.

They're all really enjoying themselves.

(The pitch-pot winners chose a beauty shop)

The finalists have a sparkle in their eyes.

It's a beauty shop with everything K-Pop.

What special thing does this group get?

Nice to meet you.

The finalists get a chance to try on makeup.

They can't miss out.

(They choose 2 guys and 2 girls)

The makeup artists are transforming them.

(Nervous)

(Interest and focus)

They're looking forward to looking like

K-Pop artists.

(Handsome idols are born)

They succeed with their transformation.

The finalists look even prettier.

(Wow, so pretty)

We look forward to their performances

as they will shine brighter than their beauty.

Seongju, I hear there's a place you want to

introduce to fans of K-Pop who visit Korea.

In Korea?

Yes.

There are many places to visit in Korea.

But first, you must visit Changwon.

Right.

If you head to the harbor in Changwon,

you can enjoy water sports.

You can enjoy both the mountain and the ocean

here in this beautiful place.

It's a really great city.

You're right.

It's already the 7th K-Pop World Festival

held here in Changwon.

2018 is the year to visit Changwon

and the year of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.

There's so much to see, eat and enjoy.

Let's move on to the next performance

as you enjoy the charms of Changwon.

The bus races on with the excited finalists.

Hi.

Hi.

They look really excited.

Where are they visiting?

We're here in Hongdae.

You'll experience lots of new things.

You'll be busking here in the afternoon.

(They're so excited)

A surprise busking mission in Hongdae.

They're just pumped to be in Hongdae.

(Here to explore Hongdae)

The finalists head out to explore Hongdae.

Something has caught their attention.

(Where will team Vietnam visit first?)

It's a K-beauty shop!

They dream of K-Pop girl group visuals.

(Korean cosmetics are so popular)

Soft black...

They shop to their heart's content.

And fall in love with K-beauty.

They continue to explore Hongdae.

She's pleased with finding a BTS cap.

(Boss, bad boy)

It's tough because of me.

(How do we look?)

With their Korean caps they head to the next stop.

It's a shop full of the 2017 craze, claw machines!

(They head right into it)

(Fail)

They enjoy what Korean youths enjoy.

Meanwhile, the Singapore team has visited

a Korean soul food spot for some spicy rice cakes.

What will they think after trying

spicy rice cakes for the first time?

Are you okay?

(The Korean spiciness flows through his body)

After watching his friend suffer from the heat,

he tries the food for himself.

(I think it tastes good)

(Taking instant photos to make memories)

They take sticker photos and build more memories.

You can't leave out busking in Hongdae.

The Nigeria team showcase their b-boying

to the sweet tunes.

They really a unique.

We're very positive that we can do busking

very very well.

This street really grabs your attention.

It's a hidden graffiti alley in Hongdae.

The finalists enjoyed Hongdae without a break.

They have a break now as they admire the artwork.

(Copying the pose in the pictures)

But they can't just go home like this.

After they're done admiring the graffiti...

What are they walking around with in their hands?

(Promotion is a must)

They're promoting their busking

as the time draws near.

They even strike up conversations with passersby.

They even show off their talents to draw interest.

(Nigeria succeed in drawing interest)

Let's go, Nigeria!

It's already time for their busking.

(TheEastLight sing a song first)

Thanks to TheEastLight's performance,

they've calmed their nerves.

(Pros are really different)

Now it's time for the finalists.

The Nigeria team opened things up

with their powerful performance.

(Wow, so flexible)

(People are enjoying the busking)

(The vocalists show their stuff)

(Oh! Nice)

(An impromptu collaboration by Peru and Singapore)

(They're so good)

They succeed in their busking with great success.

Let's go!

Keep supporting Peru team. Let's go.

The finalists made unforgettable memories.

Do your best for the finals!

From fancy performance to sweet singing.

I feel like I was drawn in.

That's right.

We just have to sit here and watch.

But the four judges must be racking their brains.

Singing and dancing in a foreign language

isn't an easy task.

You need the correct pronunciation and

you need to understand the lyrics to express them.

Because we know the effort it takes,

we can't help but cheer them on.

That's right.

They completed their first world tour recently.

The new Korean Wave star, MONSTA X!

("Intro + Shine Forever" by MONSTA X)

Let's meet the next finalists.

We'll begin with a sweet song by a boy-girl duo.

Please welcome them with loud applause.

That was the performance by the ever-lovely TWICE.

The theme for today's

perfectly fits this theme.

There are so many multi-national groups these days

including SEVENTEEN and NCT.

debuting as K-Pop groups in Korea.

The Project Orb | PalkaDots - Duration: 3:27.

Quick note before I start. I'd like to thank Mikey Tsiang for being my very

first patron. If the starter of the movement is the flint, then the first

follower is the spark. If you'd like to check out all the awesome stuff Mikey

up to, including work with This Star Won't Go Out, follow him on Twitter. And

now, three.. two... one...(CLAP_ Okay, I have a hook idea for you right

here. I've been thinking about value created at different levels for

different projects. So, both projects that serve oneself and projects that serve

things around. And also the size and effort that goes into those projects in

the change they seek. Think of this thing as a project.

The fact that I can handle it and I can control it and the momentum of it,

shows that I'm in control of the project itself. A project that I can handle is

journaling. Journaling is easy. I can journal about a minimum of ten minutes every

single day. It's a daily journal. I've gone for almost three years so far. So

that represents something that I'm in control of. I can handle it well. I can

handle the entire project because it's serving myself ultimately. It's not a

huge change I seek to make, but it's important because it's about

self-reflection and me investing in myself. But in all honesty, even if I go

deeper than that, the journaling still takes a notebook, and it still takes a

writing utensil, it still takes an environment that's stable for me to sit

down for ten minutes, so it's not me that completely makes it

possible. That's something to note. I have to give myself credit for committing, but

I also give myself credit and credit to things around me for making it possible in the

first place. The change I seek to make isn't snowballing in any sort of way, so

I can handle it pretty easily. But if I have a project like creating a movie or

writing a book or running an online media project. Or doing something larger

than myself, a change I seek to make that requires other people's cooperation and

enrollment, that's not gonna be this size. That's gonna be like the size of a car

or the size of a house. It's not something that I'm gonna be able to gain

momentum on my own, especially if it starts to grow as I push it like a

snowball would down a hill. And that project seeks to change something. It

seeks to serve people in some way, whether it's changing an actual thing or

it's changing the way people interact with something, or it seeks deeply to

change the people that are involved with it in some way. Some core value that's

being delivered. That's something that I can't do alone that requires a lot of

time and cooperation and enrollment from a group of people that are

committed to that set project or change that is sought to make. That's just been my

thought on the glass sphere or the clear sphere or the snowball down the hill, which

seems to be a very, very unique image. Spheres for some reason. I don't

know why. It's a simple image, but I think it has a deep fundamental

universality to it. It really seems like a good hook in order to help process

specific ideas that are complex and to see the universality of those ideas in

terms of seeing the world from different angles and perspectives. What do you

think? How can this be a hook for processing big ideas? What is it about

this that enables a person to apply it? Can you think of a project that you

serve yourself with, that you can handle, and one that's bigger than you that you serve

other people with? What do you think? What are your thoughts? What are your

reflections? Keep being you, DFTBA, and I'll see you in the next video with another

idea that I've come up with on this fun, crazy, journey of using ideas as hooks

for processing other ideas and for self-reflection. Everybody Palka!

I'm watching this chipmunk.
