Spellforce 3 has just recently been released and is a mix of roleplaying

and real time strategy game.

One of the game designers from Grimlore Games in Munich, Thorsten Wahner,

has exclusively revealed his personal tips and tricks for this video on

how to play Spellforce 3 successfully.

The game comes with a multiplayer mode and an extended single player campaign

mode, and since the game covers both roleplaying and real time strategy elements, it's a

huge challenge for the developers to make sure these elements are tied to each other

closely and work harmonically.

This is mainly done by the game concept of heroes.

Even though heroes

have always been a central element of Spellforce, in Spellforce 3 they play an

even more decisive role.

They link what roleplaying game players are used to when they do party

management, collect items, and get quests done on the one hand, and what real time strategy

players have to do when they construct bases, control armies, and so on on the other hand.

At the very beginning of the game, two important decisions have to be made.

One is the difficulty

level, of which there are four.

The other choice to make is one you don't usually

find in video games: There are two different input schemes.

The reason the developers added

these is because they felt it was a huge task to combine the two genres, RPG and RTS, and

give every action a certain command.

Therefore they decided to offer an input scheme, which

is optimized to offer a specific hotkey to each action, and add a second more mainstream

and traditional control scheme which is more reminiscent of RPG and RTS, which primarily

aims at those players, who do not care too much when they lose a millisecond when they

issue a command.

This offers a more comfortable way to play the game.

We now decide for the

first input mode and are now ready to show off the prologue, the prelude of the single

player campaign.

Three heroes around a campfire, the calm babbling of the waterfalls in the

background, and the question: How to move my heroes most efficiently?

Good news ahead:

The developers made sure moving units works as expected.

You can either just click the

heroes or drag a box around them with the left mouse button and send them to places

with the right mouse button, as is common in other top down games.

What you can see

clearly, though, is the huge rock face in the background.

In Spellforce 3, there are

often situations where there are vertical differences on the map.

Therefore it's very

important to move and turn the camera.

You can do that by holding down the ctrl-key and

using the middle mouse button.

If you feel you're becoming lost, you can press the

home key on your keyboard, which is located right by the other rather rarely used keys

like 'insert'.

This will always reset the camera to its standard position.

Also,

by clicking the escape key you will be able to enter the option menu where you can change

many settings at your pleasure like key bindings, whether to or not to show certain game elements

and many other things.

You might want to go ahead and simply try some of them to get an

impression of the possible adjustments.

When we take our small group of heroes to the east

a little, we'll encounter a wolf that attacks us right away but we can take it out with

ease.

But a little further, a bit to the north, we have the first opportunity to get some

interesting loot.

Our mouse cursor changes its colour to green - we can collect some

valuable items.

Because whenever the mouse cursor turns green in Spellforce 3, it is

strongly recommended to use the right mouse button, because this usually means you can

interact with something.

In this case we can get some loot.

There's lots of stuff that

one can find, like weapons, armours, amulets, rings, all of which can be equipped by our

characters.

Some of the things, however, that can be found on the map are collected automatically,

like gold, for example.

Since gold drops rather frequently, it's enough to move one of your

heroes close to it and it will be collected automatically and get added to your purse.

Basically, by slaying your enemies and walking past them you rob your foes on the fly.

After

the first battles, we stumble into the prologue by passing an outpost of our people and take

the command of the cottages and houses - and, more importantly - of some workers, we may

assign tasks to.

These civilians can be commanded to construct buildings for us, man them, and

collect resources.

In Spellforce 3, you will encounter what is called sectors.

When you

click the city center, you will be able get an overview of how many workers are available

in this sector.

You will need to get along with that number and prioritize tasks and

constructions you want them to take care of.

In the very beginning, especially basic resources

like wood and food are important.

When we for example click on our logging cabin, we

can easily assign three workers to it.

In the city center you can then see that the

number of idle workers decreases, and three guys get on their way to man the logging cabin

and chop wood.

Basically this means if you would like even more lumberjacks to collect

wood, you would have to build another logging cabin where you could assign another crew

of workers.

But for now, we should also assign some workers to both our fishery and hunting

cabin, to make sure we have our basic supplies.

As you can see, the developers made sure the

beautiful graphics of the game can always be admired, so the economy overlays are usually

hidden.

But occasionally, you might want to see the overlay of all buildings at a time.

You can do so by toggling it on and off with the comma key on your keyboard.

Alternatively,

at the bottom on the left side next to the minimap, there's a button for the economy

view as well.

At the end of the prologue of the single player campaign we will be given

the opportunity to create our own avatar, which will accompany us throughout the game.

Let's talk about this.

As players are used to, you can change the way your avatar looks

very freely, you can decide if you'd like to play as a male or female main character,

and of course also chose your name and portrait.

But what is probably much more exciting is

the actual game mechanics.

On the right side next to the character editor, you can pick

one of the pre-defined classes, or create your own one.

Also, if you like a certain

class like the Keeper or the Inquisitor or whatever quite a lot, you can still adjust

it to your pleasure by using the minus or plus buttons for the attributes.

Below, you

can also pick three of the pre-defined six skill trees.

You can have all properties and

stats of your heroes displayed in a big window by clicking this button when the respective

hero is selected.

Also, this way you manage your heroes, use your experience points and

pick new skills.

But let's take one thing at a time.

On the left side, this tab, this

is the inventory.

Here is where you can see what armours, weapons, and accessories are

equipped.

By dragging them you can easily change the current equipment.

On the right

side you can see various stats which show you how powerful your heroes are.

There are

attributes and skills, and by gathering experience points mainly collected by winning battles,

these can be improved.

Experience points can, however, be earned not only by fighting but

also by fulfilling quests, and sooner or later, your party will level up.

For each level-up,

you will get one skill point, which can be used in the skill tree to learn new powerful

abilities.

For each second level-up in addition, you will get an attribute point, which can

be invested in your attributes, obviously.

It is absolutely crucial to deliberate, which

skill trees you would like to combine.

This should already be taken into account carefully

during character creation, because there are certain synergies.

When you take a look at

the very first skill of each skill tree, you can see there are six levels to it other than

the tier two skills.

The cool thing about these passive skills is they can be combined

with all other skill trees.

For example, Archery grants a higher chance to cause critical damage,

but this does not only refer to ranged attacks like with bows.

These bonuses will also be

applied when using a melee weapon and even magic staffs.

Let's click into the next

tab, where we can open up our spellbook.

This is divided into two sub-menus again, one of

which is about the actual skills, the spells that you need to activate during battle to

make them work.

You can also switch to the next tab where you can see the perks, which

are always active without having to explicitly turn them on.

About the spells: You can set

up various action groups in order to prepare your heroes for different situations during

battle.

In the spellbook menu, you can create up to four action groups for your party.

With

these symbols at the top of this window you can choose the currently active action group

and edit it by dragging the respective actions into it for each hero.

One way to use this

for example is setting up an action group which turns out most effective when fighting

against single foes, and you can set up a second one for larger groups of enemies.

A

third group could be mainly for economy spells and auras.

Right now at the very beginning

of the game there are not too many options to choose from yet of course, but as the game

proceeds, you will find more and more combinations that may be interesting to be put together.

Switching between the respective action groups can be done by a hotkey command.

By default,

in the keyboard scheme A, you can toggle the action groups by using hotkeys.

Additionally,

you can set up a hotkey for each single action group in the key bindings menu which is located

in the game options.

Especially when using one or two action groups frequently or one

of the groups is very important, this might make sense a lot.

Now let's go ahead and

try our newly acquired skills in battle.

With our heroes, we're running towards a terrifying

undead monster.

And now, if you like, you can use a very special feature in Spellforce

3.

Instead of clicking around in confusion and simply send them over just to watch them

slay their enemies seemingly randomly and without control, hover your mouse above the

respective foe and it should turn red.

Then hold down the ALT key and the action wheel

will appear.

As you can see, it has an inner circle and an outer one.

In the outer circle,

you can see the strengths and weaknesses of each enemy.

Here you can hover your mouse

cursor and have details displayed.

In the inner circle, all of your heroes' special

abilities are displayed like in a pie chart, where each piece represents one of your skills.

Whenever a certain skill is not shown here and the respective piece of cake does not

appear, it may be because this skill might not be reasonable to use in this very situation

like this battle against this very monster and therefore cannot be used.

The wheel starts

at the top left with the first hero at the top left of the screen, and then in a clock-wise

direction you can toggle between each of your heroes one by one and can see each hero's

up to three skills.

These can be used in battle in a clever way.

As the heroes and their abilities

synergize with each other, many abilities you gain as the game proceeds get way stronger

when they're used against foes that are affected by a status effect.

One of those

status effect could for example be a stun which can be triggered by a Shield Bash for

example.

That means that when we pick Anselm's Shield Bash and hit our enemy to the ground,

Sentenza may profit from this by using the Deathblow which causes extra damage against

stunned enemies.

This is a very simple combination of skills and there are many more which may

cause tremendous effects.

We'll leave this to you to find out your best combos.

By default,

when opening up the action wheel in Spellforce 3, the time proceeds very slowly.

You can,

however, instead freeze time if you'd like to get more comfortable with how the game

works.

This way, the game can be paused.

In order to do so, go the options screen and

click the UI settings.

Here you can toggle between the normal click'n'fight feature,

slow-motion, and the actual pause.

It's just a question of flavor.

During the single

player campaign you will be able to play with each faction of the game, the Humans, the

Elves, and the Orcs in order to get to know their individual special units, buildings,

and play styles.

In an even more extensive way you can do so in the skirmish mode, where

you can pick your favorite faction at the very beginning of a match to compete with

against other players.

Now let's talk about how different they really are.

Especially

after the first betas, the developers put a lot of effort and time in distinguishing

the respective factions even more.

A lot of new mechanics have been implemented into the

game since, to make their respective play style vary as much as possible.

Therefore,

each faction now has a certain thing they are especially good at.

For example, humans

are the best at constructing towers, and human units will regenerate over time when they

are within their own territory.

The orcs, however, cannot construct advanced towers

in the first place, but instead they get an attacking bonus whenever they are in hostile

territory.

Therefore, of course this means that the orcs should be played in a much more

aggressive way and their battles should always be fought in the enemies' base rather than

on your own land.

The humans, on the other hand, profit from exactly this.

Of course

you won't ever want to be attacked, but humans can defend themselves more easily and

efficiently.

Whether in skirmish mode or during the single player campaign: At the very beginning,

you will face the agony of choice.

Because just like in every strategy game, there is

a huge list of buildings to construct and units to train, and you may wonder which one

to start with.

This may also happen whenever you occupy a new sector.

Your choice should

depend on your tactics for this very match.

When, for example, you would like to push

research and get new technologies fast, you might want to ensure there's enough of each

basic resource by putting up hunting cabins, fisheries, and logging cabins right from the

start.

This will let you expand fast, develop your sectors, and construct many buildings.

If, however, you would like to rush your neighbors or simply put up a mighty army, you could

decide to collect only little wood but rather concentrate on food in order to be able to

train units faster.

Especially in skirmish mode, the AI players might cause you trouble

if you don't expand fast enough.

So you might want to occupy sector by sector before

your foes do so because once a sector is taken, it can take a lot of effort to conquer it.

On the other hand, however, expanding too fast might result in difficulties to develop

each sector and being unable to construct relevant buildings.

So the right pace is absolutely

crucial.

Mainly it's dependent on the faction you are playing with.

When for example playing

as the orcs, actually it's impossible to expand too fast, because the standard outposts

that the orcs get for free once they expand with their heroes are pretty powerful.

Basically

they grant a lot of workers and raise the population limit and what is special is they

work as barracks which means you can train basic units there right away.

When playing

the elves, however, the basic outposts your heroes can construct are more or less useless,

because they can't do too much.

They don't provide workers, can't shoot at enemies

or anything like that.

That means when playing the elves you shouldn't expand before you

have the necessary resources to develop your sector rapidly.

So basically, the elves tend

to have fewer but higher developed sectors, whilst the orcs would like to control the

whole map as soon as possible.

Of course, the key to success in Spellforce 3 is using

and balancing your resources sensibly, so it's crucial to keep track of them carefully

in order to make sure you keep pace.

In Spellforce 3, you can construct buildings and train units

as much as you want, even if you don't have sufficient resources for the respective project.

You can get an overview of the current projects at the top of the screen, where you can see

how many resources are currently requested.

For example, if it said minus fifty right

here, it would mean that fifty more units of wood have been requested than available.

For more details, simply hover your mouse above it and you will be able to see the average

production rate of each respective resource per minute.

This way you can make sure you

don't run out of certain resources.

If you manage to collect and maintain your resources

in a clever and effective way and manage to accumulate lots of them, you should be able

to put up a powerful army simply and fast.

At the beginning of a match, the relationship

between simple melee units and ranged attacks plays an important role.

Ranged units should

be defended carefully, as they are more vulnerable than melee units.

But it also depends on your

hero's abilities.

If your hero is a ranged hero and you don't have melee heroes you

might want to train some more melee units in order to protect the archers.

When, however,

you do have a melee hero who has powerful area of effect skills, which means they cause

damage on a certain area and not only to a single enemy, you might want to concentrate

your unit production on ranged units.

By constructing a forge, it's possible to improve the different

unit types, so you won't get stuck with the basic units.

The forge can be leveled

up in order to unlock more advanced units.

Have you wondered if it's possible to focus

and specialize on one certain unit type?

For example would you prefer to play with say

only ranged units and create something like the ultimate archer and completely neglect

the other unit types?

Well, it IS possible, at least in campaign mode, because you can

improve your unit models with blueprints.

This way, you can make them cheaper or more

powerful and you can specialize on one certain unit.

In multiplayer mode, however, this will

probably be a bit more difficult, because when your human foes notice you're neglecting

a certain kind of unit, they might build units in turn which can beat yours more easily.

Roughly speaking, there are two certain situations in Spellforce 3 that you will probably encounter.

Either you are playing with a small group of heroes, which will likely feel a bit like

a RPG experience, or with a huge army of units where the heroes almost get lost in.

Maybe

you might want to try a hybrid of these two, but in the end, Spellforce 3 fans might want

to know how they can make sure they never lose sight of their strongest units they acquired

and trained with huge effort even in large and chaotic battles.

Finding and controlling

them effectively is easy - thankfully, because they are the most important units in Spellforce

3 after all.

Using the dot-key on your keyboard will highlight your heroes in your faction

colour.

Alternatively, you can also use the corresponding button in the interface.

This

way you can be sure to never lose track of where your heroes are and what they do.

Selecting

them is also easy by clicking their portraits at the upper edge of the screen so you don't

have to look for them on the battlefield.

Today we will make Bottle gourd halwa

Let's start today's recipe

Bottle gourd - 500 gm

Warm milk - 1 cup

Condensed milk - 1/2 cup

Sugar - 1/4 cup or add as per taste

In dry nuts : Cashew

Almond

Pistachio

Green cardamom powder

And ghee

Peel the skin first and wash

Let's grate them

Grate it on thicker side like I have shown

** Do not grate the seeds **

Keep it aside

** You can make soup or curry by using the remaining part **

Grate the remaining gourd in the same way

It is done

Keep it aside

Turn on the flame and heat the pan

Pour 3 tbsp ghee in it

** Always use ghee for making any halwa as it gives very nice flavour and taste to the halwa **

Once the ghee is heated up add all dry nuts

Dry nuts has turned brown

Now take it out into a container

Keep the flame low

And add the grated bottle gourd in it

Roast it on low flame for some time

Stir it at regular interval

In between, prepare a mixture by using all these ingredients

Pour 1 cup warm milk

1/2 cup condensed milk ( Here I have taken 200 gm of mithai mate )

You can also use milk maid instead of mithai mate

1/4 cup sugar or as according to your taste

Now stir it nicely

It is ready now

Keep it aside

And check whether grated bottle gourds are cooked or not

It is not yet dry

Let it cook for some more minute

Here it looks little softer than before

And water has also evaporated

Now pour the prepared mixture ( milk , condensed milk and sugar ) in it

Stir it well

Then cover and cook it on medium flame for some time

Stir it in between

It's been 15 minutes now

As you can see the consistency is thick now

Now add cardamom powder

And some of the fried dry nuts in it

Remaining are for garnishing

Then put 1 more tsp of ghee and mix very well

It is done now

Turn off the flame

And take it out into a serving bowl

Super tasty bottle gourd halwa is ready to serve now

Serve it warm or cold

During production, when the crew watched the finished product, animator Ed Levitt legendarily

stood up and announced "This show is going to run for a hundred years!" and it looks

like he wasn't wrong.

Since its debut in 1965, it's aired every single Holiday season, with no sign of slowing

down now.

But while everyone loves to gather around the television and watch Charlie Brown grappling

with an anxiety disorder, there's one pretty messed up part that nobody ever seems to talk

about.

And surprisingly, it's not the part where a six year-old fixes everything by explaining

the birth of Jesus.

Sure, Linus is a little smug about having the book of Luke memorized, but the special

is so well-crafted that even a scene where someone literally steps into a spotlight to

read Bible verses actually manages to feel genuine, rather than heavy-handed or preachy.

No, the problem comes from that poor, pathetic Christmas tree.

"what kind of a tree is that?

You were supposed to get a good tree!

Can't you even tell a good tree from a poor tree?"

It's not the tree itself, you understand.

You couldn't ask for a better metaphor for a child born unto a carpenter in humble surroundings

who would grow up to bear the sins of man than a tiny sapling, bending under the weight

of a single crimson bauble.

It's one of the reasons that the poor tree has become so iconic, although the fact that

you can buy a cheap, artificial, mass-produced version of your own does undermine the point

just a little bit.

And yet, when the Peanuts gang finally does come to appreciate the tree, it seems like

they completely miss the metaphor.

For the entire special, Charlie Brown's been searching for the meaning of Christmas,

and in that scrawny little tree, he finds it.

It doesn't look like much and it's not as flashy as the artificial trees that Lucy

and the other kids want, but it's real, and there's a thoughtfulness and hope invested

in it.

If this humble tree can be loved, maybe Charlie Brown can, too.

It turns out, he can't.

Rather than accepting the tree despite is flaws, the other kids pretty it up into a

small but otherwise standard-issue Christmas tree, covered in shiny garlands and bright

lights, only learning to like it once it looks like everything else.

In other words, they took the perfect metaphor for the true meaning of Christmas... and made

it more commercial.

"Good grief."

Business bus line Poznan – Warsaw - Duration: 9:49.

Hi, today I am in Poznan and we will be on press breakfast

of new business bus route

that will run between Poznan and Warsaw.

Let's watch!

Platinum coaches run from December between Poznań and Warsaw.

First departure is at 6:30 am at bus station in Poznań

and return departure is at 16:30 at Metro Wilanowska bus station in Warsaw.

Busses on more than 310 kilometers-long route are not stopping anywhere else

and most of the route runs along A2 motorway.

This is going to guarantee

a travel time of 3 hours 40 minutes to a maximum of 4 hours under standard traffic conditions.

From the new year, second course will be performed by another coach.

According to plans, he will start at 6:00 am from Poznan

and return departure will start at 17:30,

although as operators representatives have pointed out, the schedule is not yet 100% set.

Final decision may be influenced by December experience with the line.

As part of the promotion until February 1, 2018

price of ticket even takes in account morning commute to station in Poznan by taxi.

A passenger during the trip can take advantage of a special menu,

adapted to its conditions

and dishes and drinks are served by the cabin crew.

You can pay for everything by cash,

payment card, smartphone

or Blik

- payment for the first time implemented on board of a coach.

On screens, which are in passenger compartment,

image from front camera

or satellite TV can be displayed.

Passengers also receive tablets

with an on-board entertainment system.

If the vehicle will be late or we want to know its current location on the map,

thanks to the equipment with a module with GPS, the location of the bus will be displayed

on the operators website.

This is a well-known solution from a public transport, air or rail network;

although in coach transport this is still not so popular solution,

but equally necessary.

We will also see how it will be with access to Wi-Fi and telephone network,

because the use of mobile communication on A2 is rather troublesome

and if there is no amplifier on board,

we may lose coverage during the journey.

30 seats are arranged in two classes,

first of which - Platinum+

is only with 8 single seats

guaranteeing greater comfort and privacy of travel.

The seats are spaced approximately every meter and 10 centimeters.

The passenger seat is tilted

and from the bottom you can unfold the footrest, changing the chair almost into a bed.

There are also naturally armrests

and folding tables to facilitate work or eating a meal.

The service also offers tables with a cushion to put on your feet

and with this set you can work on your laptop.

The standard class - Platinum

- involves traveling in the usual arrangement of double seats,

although they have increased distances between the seats.

There are 22 places in total in second class.

All seats have USB sockets and 230V contacts.

The air conditioning in the vehicle is also dual-zone

and can be separately adjusted for the front

and rear passenger compartment.

Well, we already known a number of services provided on board,

this journey is certainly not cheap.

And indeed, we can compare the ticket price with the Express Intercity train category.

In the Platinum class, where we have a 2+2 seat layout,

the ticket costs 125 zlotys (30 euros)

and in the Platinum+ class with a 1+1 arrangement,

the ticket costs 180 zlotys (43 euros).

On the other hand, EIC trains,

respectively, for Class I and II tickets are more expensive for 19 (4,5 euros) and 14 zlotys (3 euros).

With air tickets, however, it happens differently, we find such for over 100 zlotys (24 euros),

if we want to get on a trip the next day,

then in the hours in which we would go by coach,

such a trip can cost up to 400 to 500 zlotys (95-120 euros).

However, the price is not the only factor that can be compared when traveling.

Despite the ongoing renovation of the Poznań-Warsaw railway line,

the EIC train journey can be shorter by several minutes

than the A2 coach journey.

LOT is unrivaled in this term,

because the flight takes less than an hour,

although it should include a longer time of arrival at and from the airport,

as well as check-in and baggage collection time.

Platinum connection from the beginning was also set for quick access to the office area

in the Warsaw Służewiec

- commonly called Mordor

and the possibility of a quick transition to first metro line.

The low-budget competition is still made by PolskiBus,

although it falls behind in the runaways,

stopping at the Fabryczna station in Łódź,

whereby the travel time between Poznań and Warsaw is over 5 hours.

Two carriers have already tried operation of business bus lines in Poland.

PolskiBusGold offered transfers from Warsaw to Krakow or Wroclaw.

The vehicles also had coach service and refreshments

and more leg room than normal between seats.

In the rest, the trip was not much different from the standard bus trip.

Slightly more amenities were on board the Lux Express

also in domestic courses

- for example, on-board entertainment.

After some time, however, both brands disappeared from the market,

apparently there were no passengers who were willing to pay more.

They sought higher travel comfort rather in rail or air connections.

Meanwhile, there is currently ongoing renovation of railway line on route from Warsaw to Poznan,

so it is a great moment to try to set up a bus connection.

Noteworthy is also the standard of travel,

which so far has not been demonstrated on board of Polish coach lines.

Will it survive for a longer period? We'll see.

In total, there is no need for many passengers,

because one bus takes up to 30 people on board.

Why forgive everyone and everything?

Well, surely we see by our recent history that maintaining resentments and getting even,

so to speak, have only led to catastrophe.

Gandhi once said, an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

Were we not well on the road to making the whole world blind?

The Illuminati had built deep underground military bunkers (DUMBs) where the cabal planned

to sit out the nuclear winter following World War III.

This war would be over in minutes.

They wanted 6.5 billion people to be killed and the remaining 500 million to serve as

slaves.

This scenario was foiled by white hats in the military, the intelligence agencies, government,

etc.

But without them we would have endured World War III.

How far do we have to go to stop the whole tragic cycle of resist, resent, revenge?

How many people must die and how many planets expire before we let it all go and commit

MY YOUTUBE GOLD PLAY BUTTON ANT FARM! - Duration: 22:32.

Man, there was once a time where I told myself that if ever this channel were to receive

this inconcievable milestone award, I would treasure it, hang it on a wall and keep it

forever in mint condition to admire as a trophy piece.

The Youtube Gold Play button awarded to Youtube channels reaching 1 million subscribers finally

arrived.

But then, I told myself...

Imagine if I were to turn my Gold Play Button into an antfarm...

No, that's just crazy.

I would never do that!

Ever!

Well, this week 'never' happened, and you won't believe what I did in the name of ant

love!

AC Family, I pulled the Golden stunt.

Yes, today I hold my breath, and hand over my Youtube Gold Play Button to the real stars

of this channel, the ants.

Find out which of our five colonies we move in, how we customize it for them, and how

they ultimately reacted to the inside of the Gold Play Button, on this eye-opening, celebratory

episode of the AntsCanada Ant Channel.

It was just so moving to unbox this amazing award.

So, opening the box, it included a note from Susan Wojcicki, the CEO of Youtube encouraging

us to continue making entertaining videos.

AC Family, here it is.

The fabled Youtube Gold Play Button.

It was just magical and huge!

Now, back when reaching a million subscribers was just a fantasy, I toyed with the idea

of turning my Gold Play Button into an ant farm for an ant colony.

The idea of course was just crazy.

I would have needed to customize it to make it habitable for the ants, I needed to drill

holes into it, I wouldn't even know how to open the thing, and overall I would have essentially

needed to destroy the piece.

But seeing the Gold Play Button now fresh out of the box, I said no way would I ever

destroy this thing.

It was going up on a wall.

But something interesting and a bit unbelievable happened.

A couple days after, I received another box from Youtube.

What?

I opened it, and sure enough it was a second Gold Play Button!

They sent me two!

How could this be?

Do any of you guys know if other Youtubers receive two Gold Play Buttons?

Could this be some freak mistake?

Perhaps Youtube telling me they want me to make an ant farm?

Whatever it was, I wasn't going to give it back.

And so, AC Family!

I wasn't going to need two Gold Play Buttons!

I had decided.

I was going to turn this second Gold Play Button into an ant farm.

Here we go!

The first step was to decide which of the ant colonies would be moving in.

Who was going to be getting this Gold Play Button ant farm?

To me, there were only 3 logical options:

First, the Fire Nation.

Our long time, ferocious fire ant colony who in essence became the first super stars of

the channel, when their video "My Ants Are Planning an Escape" went completely viral,

followed by another video "Cockroach Giving Birth While Being Devoured by Fire Ants",

which have a combined viewership of 31 million views on Youtube.

I felt they surely deserved to be one of the candidates to inhabit this Gold Play Button.

Next, we have the Dark Knights, our black crazy ant colony, also a senior colony of

the channel, having started around the same time as our Fire Nation.

They've been a good colony, contrasting our ravenous Fire Nation, always easy-to-care

for, predictable, non-aggressive, and what was super convenient about the Dark Knights

was that if I were to move them into the Gold Play Button, I could simply hang the Gold

Play Button on the same wall as my other Silver Play Buttons and easily connect the tubes

of their two story setup which pass that area of my place.

And next, we have the Golden Empire, our yellow crazy ant colony that came a bit after the

Fire Nation and the Dark Knights, but garnered a big fan base of ant lovers fast, as we helped

them overcome their biggest survival challenge, beating a plague of parasitic mites.

They were a good candidate because with their booming population and limited only to the

Hacienda Del Dorado terrarium, they needed the new space badly.

In a previous video we also noticed that they needed change in routine.

Now, for those fans of our other ant colonies, we couldn't move in the Titans, our Marauder

ant colony because they were in a sensitive time at the moment, and we also couldn't do

the Tomb Raiders, our Pharaoh Ants, because they were a new colony under quarantine, dealing

with their own crisis at the moment.

By the way, if you're following that story AC Family I promise to update you about their

situation next week.

So, I had to decide, and of course I went to consult the AC Council, so on our brand

new Youtube community tab which we just got this week, I asked you which of the three

colonies you wanted to see move in to this Gold Play Button ant farm.

You casted your votes, and AC Family, you chose the Golden Empire based on over 35,000

votes.

It seemed the general reasoning was "Golden Empire for the Gold Play Button".

Made sense.

So now that we knew who would be moving in, it was time to customize the Gold Play Button

to make it more habitable for the Golden Empire.

After examining the structure of the framework, I discovered that it was actually quite easy

to open up from the back.

I opened it up and went straight to work.

Using an old aquarium background I had laying around, as well as natural decor from our

AC Biome Kits, I began to cut, glue, and arrange.

It took a lot of careful planning and designing.

I didn't really know what I was doing, and I was completely improvising along the way,

but I was determined to make this new territory beautiful and homey for our ants.

And so AC Family, after hours of breaking away at faux rock and arranging of decor,

I am pleased to present to you "Golden Rock", the soon-to-be new stomping grounds of our

Golden Empire.

Let me show you around.

Golden Rock was inspired by the natural terrain in which I have seen yellow crazy ants in

the wild.

It is a simulated volcanic rock escarpment complete with lichens, mosses, tropical foliage,

sticks, and crevices

and presented at the center of Golden Rock's cliff face, the Youtube Gold Play Button,

shining like a beautifully polished stone adorning the territories.

Now this setup was designed to be dry and soiless and I didn't want to add digging medium

because the structure wasn't designed to hold moisture.

You see the back is made of painted plywood, which could rot if moist soil was added, and

I didn't want to paint the entire thing with water sealant, in fear of toxic materials

killing the ants.

Also this setup would no longer be opened after being sealed so dry meant cleaner interior

and easier maintenance.

So the question we needed to answer now was "What would make Golden Rock interesting for

our ants?"

Why would the ants want to come here?

If we just connected the colony to this Gold Play Button as is, they might wander a bit

but get bored and find it dead space for the colony.

So, AC Family, my solution?

Four entrances drilled directly into the plastic plated plywood framing, and polytubing inserted

into them.

One of these entrances would be the official entrance to the territories, and the others,

to accomodate test tubes with some goodies for the ants to discover.

On one side I attached a test tube of some dry fish food and on the other, some blue-dyed

honey.

So now the Golden Empire had a reason to come to Golden Rock.

Golden Rock would from now on be a hub for food collection.

And now, the moment we've all been waiting for.

The moment of truth.

It was time to move our Golden Empire, our booming colony of yellow crazy ants into their

new Youtube Gold Play Button territories we call Golden Rock.

Here we go, my plan was we needed a way to safely connect the Hacienda Del Dorado to

Golden Rock, but there way no way I was going to drill a hole through this glass.

It is certainly possible to drill holes throug aquarium glass with special drill bits but,

in all my experience working with glass and creating ant farms, there are a million and

one ways to screw it up and completely crack and ruin the glass, and I wasn't willing to

take that risk today, lest the Golden Empire is suddenly given the chance to move into

my whole place!

And so here is my hack for those who need to connect their ant colonies in aquariums

to another living area.

First, I take a plastic water bottle and cut it here, to create a sort of funnel.

Then I take some baby powder and mix it with rubbing alcohol until the mixture is uniform,

then completely smother the inside of the funnel, as well as the outside with this mixture.

It dries in about 10 minutes and becomes super slippery for the ants.

The idea was to situate this funnel at the top of terrarium using a barbeque skewer and

then fasten the tube leading out of the terrarium through this slippery funnel.

This way the ants could travel through the tube but not climb out of the terrarium by

climbing the outside of the tube.

So here we go, guys are you ready?

It was time to see if our Golden Empire would like these new lands we are introducing to

them.

1 - 2 -3.

I placed the tube into our slippery funnel then stuffed all spaced between with cotton.

I placed the tube into the ficus foliage for the ants to discover.

The other end of this tube was attached to this entrance of Golden Rock.

The ants instantly began to climb the tube, but hadn't yet thought of climbing through

it.

As planned the ants climbed the outside of the tube but could not escape due to our special

funnel.

Suddenly, a few minutes later, one inquisitive and brave ant decides to walk through the

tube to explore.

It moves up the tube, and out of the Hacienda Del Dorado.

This was the very first time any Golden Empire worker has left the boundaries of the Hacienda

Del Dorado in almost a year, and considering the fact that ant workers live for only two

months, it was certainly the very first time this worker has ever left.

She was going to be the official discoverer of Golden Rock.

She excitely rushed through the tube across the great chasm

and on to Fire Nation continent.

She rushed into Golden Rock.

With joy and jubilee, the ant immediately began to explore this wide and open rockscape,

running and mapping out these new territories.

If you've never seen an excited and happy ant, this is what it looks like!

And look, here comes a second ant explorer.

Her sister will officially be the second to set tarsi on Golden Rock territories.

Back at the Hacienda Del Dorado, it seems most ants are preoccupied with trying to get

out of the terrarium by climbing the tube, which may seem pretty unintelligent on the

ants' part, but see this is the beauty of ant intelligence.

The very few who do happen to stumble their way into the tube, end up communicating their

discovery to the other ants.

And look, here returns one of the ants from Golden Rock to announce the news to the rest

of the Empire.

She's got some joyous news to tell of a new promised land beyond the borders of the Hacienda

Del Dorado.

It wasn't long before more and more ants decide to check out the hype and also return home

to announce their findings to the rest of the colony.

With this continuing message of new property becoming a trending topic witin the Golden

Empire, I knew it wasn't long before the ants would start an impressive ant trail between

the two lands, and the news was about to kick up a notch.

One ant has found our reservoir of blue honey.

After having a sip, it is suddenly full of excitement and lets other ants it comes in

contact with know that "OMG, there's a huge pool of honey down there!

Go see for yourself and get some!"

This quick vibrating you see here is known as stridulation.

If we were to place a tiny microphone close to them we would hear a chattering noise.

By rubbing body parts together and causing a big vibrational fuss, they literally communicate

"the latest buzz", pun completely intended, and this excites other ants to go check out

whatever it was that was causing excitement.

It's a more physical mode of ant communication, unlike the usual pheromones which is more

biochemical.

When the message of sweet honey got back to the colony, the trail was officially under

way.

Check it out!

The ants had not discovered the fish food yet.

It was just amazing to see the ants excitely exploring and mapping out our design.

The honey was the newest talk of the town!

Look at all those ants with full social stomachs.

You can see the blue through their bodies.

Later as the honey starts to dilute a bit by mixing with the ants' drinking water and

inner fluids, the ants appear green, as we saw in a previous video.

With all this stored honey, they make their way back to the nest to share it with the

rest of the family.

The way they do it is through an awesome process called trophallaxis: I call it the kiss of

life.

Honey is regurgitated from their social stomachs and passed by mouth to hungry ants.

It looks like many ants have come back for seconds!

Wanna see something funny?

Of course after all that sugary food, the ants get food coma.

Check out these ants that have stationed themselves in one of the crevices in the rock.

It seems they've designated it their place to nap.

According to a study, ants take hundreds of power naps which last only a couple minutes,

before waking up and continuing on with business as usual.

All night, the ants continued to explore Golden Rock and hang out in cool spots within the

multifaceted rock face.

The next day, the ants are still working on the honey!

Check out their green bodies!

It looks like our fish food wasn't such a hit.

They're just trying to dig into it at this point.

No worries, though.

I want Golden Rock to be a place where we can test new and different foods.

I plan to constantly switch up the offerings in these exits, perhaps offer a tube of water,

or various insects, different sweets, and sometimes I even just want to make exits dead

ends.

Essentially, the more we keep the ants guessing, the less chances they have to fall into routine

which became a concern in the Hacienda Del Dorado.

These past few days and nights, I've spent a lot of time just sitting and watching the

ants frolicking and congregating in places around Golden Rock, and I realized something

pretty neat.

Yes, the ants on this channel will never really know how many human beings from all around

the globe watch them every week, following their daily lives and quietly supporting them

from afar, nor will they ever know how much joy and inspiration they bring to us, just

by being ants, but I feel, that at least by giving them the chance to find a home within

this custom-designed Gold Play button, now called Golden Rock, they too can benefit in
