My Favorite Films Of 2017... So Far (Season 9 Premiere!) - Duration: 22:10.

I'd like to review some movies.

Jonathan!

People don't usually use my real name in these intros...

Nice to see you.

I fail to recall the last time you were in Rome.

Uh... it's been a while.

And hear I heard you had retired.

Nope!

Just took a few months off.

My wife's expecting - things have been busy.

Then humor me with, uh... but one question.

No.

Alright then.

One of our finest rooms.

Thanks.

This'll be a real help.

And this is Movie Night!

It's been about three months since our last episode... and it is late October, so we're

just gonna call this Season Nine!

Hello and welcome back to Movie Night!

Inconsistently uploaded... but never half-assed!

Although I haven't uploaded as many videos this year, I've still been watching and reviewing

many new releases - so tonight I want to take a look at some of my favorite films from2017...

that I haven't already set aside for future episodes in November, or featured in earlier

episodes; so "Kong", "War Of The Apes", all any superhero movie won't be included.

In release-order, we'll start with "John Wick: Chapter 2".

Well, that was fucking awesome.

This neo-noir action thriller from director Chad Stahelski quadrupled its $40 million

dollar budget after its February 2017 release.

Following the chaotic and deadly events of "Chapter 1", Keanu Reeves (Wick) must return

to the life of an internationally hunted hit-man to repay a special debt.

The best part about the original wasn't the brilliantly filmed and choreographed hand-to-hand

action sequences, but rather the inventive and detailed criminal universe created by

writer Derek Kolstad.

Which is why I was so elated "Chapter 2" doubled-down on its exploration; showing us more scenes

and faces in this fascinating network of honorable modern-day assassins.

The 'you must honor the rules of our society' plot-devices manages to make believable sense

of a crazy situation no sane person would willingly embark on - least of all a man as

careful and intelligent as our title-character.

For his efforts, the ageless Keanu proves once again to be more than capable of handling

the ferocious gunplay and physical stuntwork.

Say what you might about his ability to emote - but he can handle a firearm better than

anyone in Hollywood.

Which comes in handy, since the R-rated adventure also boasts a body-count north of 120.

A

catacombs escape that closes out act one is particularly incredible - especially a bit

where Wick holds a baddie at bay with the muzzle of his shotgun barrel... while he reloads

to finish the job.

Bad-ass.

Even at 122 minutes, "John Wick 2" moves with relentless ease, especially the final 45 minutes

which don't seem to let up for a moment.

The talented supporting cast deliver the less-than-subtle dialogue with Shakespearen authority.

Whether Ian McShane is lecturing the villain on his mistakes, "You stabbed the devil in

the back", or Laurence Fishburne waxes poetic about his former "The Matrix" co-star, there's

a certain gravitas behind these relatively minor characters.

Of particular note is Claudia Gerini as Wick's initial 'target'.

In her only scene, she exhibits perennial class and beauty far beyond what's necessary

for a part like this.

Let's just say, I was impressed.

And let's not forget Peter "Sassy Trump" Serafinowicz - who was particularly amusing as the purveyor

of a "wine tasting"-themed gun dispensary.

But least we forget how absolutely gorgeous the cinematography here is.

Dark corridors and deep shadows are punctured by bright and vibrant beams of color and light.

The steady framework keeps the action easy to follow, while showing off the sets and

scenery.

Part one took place in empty warehouses and houses, whereas this sequel has our hero leaping

through Roman ruins and shooting up a mirror-filled museum exhibit.

The upgraded locations all looks stunning.

The auditory onslaught isn't too bad either; with careful mixing of the loud gunfire, breathless

grunts, and heavy punches.

I expect to see a few technical nominations for this flick come awards-season.

Building on the concepts, techniques, and pay-offs established by its predecessor - "John

Wick: Chapter 2" is a phenomenal action film (one of this decade's best), and an astonishingly

fun experience.

I thought it was AMAZING.

Now, a quick word about tonight's sponsor.

Looking this good isn't easy - but thanks to stylish tailor made wood watch from JORD,

I can at least look slightly nicer.

A fantastic fashion-match for this fall season, I picked up the "Dover" design in Dark Sandlewood

and Zebra, and had it engraved with one of my favorite movie quotes.

Every JORD product is an effortless addition to your wardrobe.

They look sharp, sophisticated, and elegant and are competitively priced.

But you don't have to worry about money, since "Movie Night" and JORD have partnered up to

give away $180 complete with a free sizing and free shipping!

All you have to do is click the first link in the description below, and fill out a short

form - and you're entered to win.

And in two weeks, one lucky viewer will be selected at random to pick out whichever watch

they'd like!

There's dozens to chose from, each with several variations - available for men and women.

But if you'd prefer not to leave things to chance, you can always use coupon code "Jogwheel"

to receive $25-off your order!

And if watches aren't quite your thing?

You might as well enter anyway - as they make excellent an gift, especially with the holidays

quickly approaching.

These promotions help make the show possible - so, thanks, as always for your time and

attention.

Let's back to the reviews with my thoughts on "Get Out".

This fantastically inventive and proactive psychological horror film from first-time

director Jordan Peele was released nationwide on February 24, 2017.

The very modestly budgeted $4.5 million dollar production broke an impressive $250 million

in ticket sales.

When a young African-American man visits his Caucasian girlfriend's mysterious family estate...

not everything is as picture-perfect as it first seems.

Inherently an allegory for today's more suppressed form of racism, "Get Out" delivers this important

social-message through the lens of a purely haunting and downright frightening narrative.

Daniel Kaluuya is outstanding at anchoring the bizarre R-rated story, the gorgeous Alison

Williams pulls off duality within her character with surprising ease, while the always versatile

Bradley Whitford is suspiciously disarming as a wholesome father figure.

There

was a very real part of me that wanted this story to conclude without any major twist.

It would have been far funnier (but less scary) if all the terrifying circumstances and perceived

racism really was just in Kaluuya's paranoid head.

Thankfully, the script, also penned by Peele, takes the movie to unimagined depths, that

are best explored unspoiled.

I'll only say that this film's most powerful accomplishment arrives moments before the

credits roll, when it appears everything our hero struggled for was for naught.

Through expert direction, a subtle set-up earlier, and the underlying racism our society

tries to ignore every day... this singular moment lands with pure chills.

For the briefest of moments, all of white America was able to understand (or at least,

relate to) the fear our African American brothers experience every day.

Although it was a little heavy-handed with the Microsoft product placement, this 104-minute

thriller delivered a wholly unique and captivating experience.

Although it was the first major release of the year I saw, it was instantly leaps ahead

of anything I saw in 2016.

Invocative commentary and visceral scares from a visionary talent make "Get Out" a truly

AMAZING film.

Next up, "Beauty And The Beast".

Just as magical.

Rather than a fresh adaptation of the centuries-old French fairy tale - this 129 minute musical

fantasy is a direct, live-action remake of Disney's Oscar-winning animated version from

1991.

The PG-rated film was a monster success, grossing over $1.2 billion (almost three times the

original's cume) - to become the highest grossing film of the year after its March 2017 release.

Not bad for $160 million dollar update, huh?

When a young women travels outside her provincial French town to rescue her father, she falls

in love with a beastly-looking Prince who has been imprisoned in a large castle by an

old curse.

Emma Watson and Dan Stevens star as the titular characters while Luke Evans, Kevin Kline,

Josh Gad, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Ian McKellen, and Emma Thompson are featured in

the many interesting and eclectic supporting roles.

Not that there was any doubt, but Watson positively excels in the lead role... carrying the reputation

of the iconic songs with poise, perseverance, and stunning beauty.

Although I can't say the same for Stevens, he does enough to disappear into the CGI-assisted

role.

Evans, meanwhile nails the smarmy "Gaston" part with plenty of musical boasting, while

Gad makes jokes as the plucky (and 'controversially' gay) sidekick.

Under sterling direction from Bill Condon - this updated version delivers the wonderful

sights, and sounds just as before.

Everything from the costumes, visual-effects, and the characters themselves are gorgeous.

The musical numbers (including a few new tunes) are catchy, lively, and irresistibly fun.

It's hard not to get goose bumps when Thompson begins belting out the Oscar-winning titular

song.

Kids, women, and literally anyone who enjoyed the animated version will adore this fun and

flashy re-telling.

Obviously, nothing here is particularly original, but this is one "tale" that has withstood

the test of "time".

An enjoyable and warm-hearted trip down nostalgia-lane for the entire family, "Beauty And The Beast"

is an AWESOME remake.

Fourth up, a bonus review for "King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword"... most of which I filmed

back when it came out.

Surprisingly entertaining.

Apropos of nothing, I recently watched the 90s family film "A Kid In King Arthur's Court"

- and I remember thinking to myself, 'Hollywood is long overdue for a good, modern take on

the swords-and-shields genre'.

But unbeknownst to me at the time, director Guy Ritchie was already well on his way to

finishing this 126-minute adventure film.

Now, I get it - the last thing we is yet another remake - but the mythology and stories surrounding

the Knights Of The Round Table are so rich and diverse, it'd be a shame if some poorly

received Keira Knightly film was the last time we saw a proper theatrical adaptation

of this era.

And while I'll be the first to admit this latest version is hardly historically accurate

(the cold open features 500' elephants destroying giant bridges like they're made out of LEGO

bricks) - it's a damn enjoyable time.

Premiering on the hells of blockbuster juggernaut "Guardians Of The Galaxy: Vol. 2" on May 12,

2017 - this $175-million dollar production was doomed to box office failure.

Which is unfortunate, as the inventive re-telling really didn't deserve such a fate.

I guess Warner Bros.'s plan to make five more of them was just wishful thinking.

Charlie Hunnam portrays the title character in this PG-13 rated origin story, which has

Arthur rising from orphaned obscurity in medieval England to pull sword from sword, and challenge

the evil king for his true legacy.

The talented "Sons Of Anarchy Star" bulked up to play the man who-would-be king, and

does a wonderful job mixing incredulous emotions with cheeky confidence.

A die-hard childhood fan of 1981's "Excalibur" - Hunnam's reverence and respect for this

property is obvious - he goes all out in every scene.

If everything else broke down, the movie would still be worth watching for his character

alone.

An early monologue to a doubtful enemy has him describing his improbable skill-set, while

parallel flashbacks amusingly show the truth.

He tackles, swings, punches, and jumps like a veteran action hero - apparently modeling

his style off UFC fighter Conor McGregor.

And thanks to some absolutely stellar sound design, every sword fight, fist-fight, and

street fight are filled with heavy and violent hits.

Ritchie's kinetic, motion-tracking traits lend themselves well to the faster sequences,

even if these modern cinematic techniques feel almost anachronistic, if that makes sense.

The editing is equally excellent; blending Guy's trademark super-fast, non-linear, smash-cut

style to create a uniquely familiar atmosphere.

Or, as he described it, "Lord Of The Rings" meets "Snatch".

The results are occasionally funny, and always entertaining.

Action movies are really only as good as the villain, and thanks to Jude Law's suitably

detestable performance, "King Arthur" is in good shape.

With his hairline receding, he seems to be gravitating towards older, bad-guy roles these

days, but we're all a beneficiary of this career transition.

His uncaring demeanor and menacing scowl are a perfect fit for the evil King Vortigern.

Describing his vile behavior, Arthur tells him, "You make sense of the Devil."

Elsewhere, Djimon Hounsou, Aidan Gillen, and Eric Bana do fine work in smaller supporting

roles - while love-interest / sidepiece Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey feels like a wasted after-thought.

The one thing that really struck me is Daniel Pemberton's music- which can best be described

as 'orchestral grunge' - keeping the mood intense, and the pace driving.

It's definitely a score I'll be picking up on CD when it's released.

For better or worse, this is a quintessential period-piece popcorn flick; all the familiar

good-vs-evil action-movie tropes are here, but they're also executed in fresh ways.

And despite one perfectly-dropped 'F-bomb', it's also a safe time for dates and families.

If you adjust your expectations accordingly, "King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword" is a fun

whiz-bang adventure with time-tested characters.

I thought it was GREAT.

Next up, "Dunkirk".

Nolan has done it again.

Produced on a comparatively small budget of $100 million dollars - this PG-13 rated war

epic is the tenth feature from acclaimed director Christopher Nolan.

Which scored over half a billion in ticket sales just a couple months after its July

21, 2017 release.

Sharing the inspiring true story of the allies' rescue from Dunkirk beach during the second

World War, this 106-minute drama unfolds without much dialogue or even conventional protagonists.

Instead, the extremely lean script illustrates through action and visuals alone how harrowing

and dangerous the battlefields in the land, sea, and air really werezz.

Fitting into one of those three location-categories, the ensemble cast features understated and

powerful performances from a slew of familiar faces, including: Fionn Whitehead, Harry Styles,

James D'Arcy, Kenneth Branagh, Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance, and Tom Hardy.

Nolan's unique approach to their (lack of) development means each character is somewhat

generic and interchangeable though.

The survival scenarios they constantly find themselves in are so terrifying and realistic,

we can't help but picture ourselves in their shoes.

And since we learn so little about these characters (most aren't even given names) - this emotional

transference is vital to the success of the narrative.

Those expecting traditional character arcs or introspective monologues need to look elsewhere;

"Saving Private Ryan" this is not.

Indeed, rather than personalizing a giant battle by showing a single soldier's experience,

Nolan goes in the opposite direction; employing a giant ensemble with thousands of extras

- with no single person receiving the lion's share of screentime.

"Dunkirk" is an immersive experience that's bolstered by an extremely loud and visceral

sound-mix - unforgiving with its dynamic range.

When gunfire pierces the silence, it is as startling as it is uncomfortable.

Or the terrifying sound of the Jericho-Trompete sirens from German fighter plane as they dive

for another attack run.

Meanwhile, Hans Zimmer doles out an aggressively intense score that builds and builds to a

seemingly never-ending crescendos... constantly keeping the tension on edge - often drowning

out all other sounds.

The music is an overbearing accompaniment to the stressful action unfolding onscreen,

and one of the more memorable soundtracks in Zimmer's catalog - even if it is a bit

distracting at times.

Only the third movie of the decade to be primarily shot and filmed in the massive 70mm film format

- "Dunkirk" is best experienced on the largest screen possible, which makes full use of the

supersized celluloid.

But since a majority of film-goers (not to mention 100% of the home media release) will

only see a 16:9 cut of the picture - there are many shots that feel unnaturally framed

due to the extended headroom in the non-cropped version.

It's one of those "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situations - but still slightly

distracting to see everyone's faces positioned in the dead-center of the picture.

But all of it is stunningly detailed and hauntingly beautiful.

Although to be fair, watching paint dry would likely look pretty gorgeous too if it were

projected from 4K IMAX laser projectors onto a 100" screen.

The entirety of the "air" plot looks particularly astonishing; with cameras affixed to inside

and to the sides of Spitfire fighter planes as they swoop through the clouds above the

English Channel.

Easily the greatest aerial battles ever captured on film - these dog-fighting scenes are worth

the price of admission alone; and are even more impressive when you learn they were created

without any computer effects.

Prohibitive costs notwithstanding, if it could have been accomplished practically - it was,

as Nolan chose to avoid CGI-shots whenever possible.

The results are seamless and realistic.

"Dunkirk" explores several key scenes from different perspectives, by inventively inter-cutting

the narrative threads in a non-parallel way.

As the technique arrives without introduction or warning, it can be a bit confusing when

you begin to see the same scene over, but from a different angle - but does allow for

additional insight.

These are the types of creative decisions you don't usually associate with a summer

blockbuster starring one of the hunky musicians from OneDirection, but it works.

Nolan may not be cinema's "smartest" filmmaker, but of the director's I'd consider "smart",

he's certainly the most accessible - and that counts for a lot.

As I was hoping for a bit more historical insight and character development, I can't

say that this film is my favorite entry in Nolan's growing portfolio - but that doesn't

preclude it from being one of the best war movies ever made.

"Dunkirk" is a monumental achievement in blockbuster filmmaking, and a truly AMAZING film.

Finally, here's my review of "Kingsman: The Golden Circle".

A sequel almost on-par with its predecessor.

Matthew Vaughn returns to direct the follow-up to 2014's surprisingly successful "Kingsman:

The Secret Service".

The experienced director utilizes every bit of his increased $104 million dollar budget,

and the extended 141-minute run-time... packing this action/comedy film with entertaining

moments and characters.

It faired slightly worse than its predecessor, netting around $300 million a month after

its September 2017 premiere.

After the titular spy-agency's headquarters is destroyed, and the world's drug users are

held hostage by an eccentric Julianne Moore, rookie agent Taron Egerton and his stalwart

accomplice Mark Strong must join forces with their American counterparts to defeat her.

Egerton once again shines as the resourceful lead - he's the handsome English gent ladies

want to shag, and the charming gent men want to be.

Through a particularly convoluted and overly-explained series of events, Colin Firth's character

returns as well... but his presence is at best distracting, and at worst, unnecessary.

Especially since it dramatically undercuts the emotional weight of the original picture.

The utilization of the rest of the all-star cast (a which group shares an impressive five

Oscar wins) is unfortunately also a bit hit-or-miss - several big names, like Channing Tatum and

Jeff Bridges, are utterly wasted.

That being said, each individual performance is pretty stellar.

One celebrity's inclusion goes well past "cameo" - and becomes more amusing with each subsequent

appearance.

But it's the return of Hanna Alström as the sexy Swedish Princess that was a surprise

inclusion.

Her role in part one was nothing more than a throwaway joke to close the film on a lewd

moment of hilarity - so there was absolutely no expectation she'd be woven back into this

follow-up, let alone with such emotional effectiveness.

Her relationship with Egerton feels authentic and earned, giving some much needed balance

to the absurd narrative.

I was also pleasantly surprised (and impressed) that Sam Jackson returned to film a single

new shot, necessary to explain an expositional flashback.

And Bruce Greenwood is perfectly devilish as the President... which I believe marks

the third time the Canadian actor has portrayed the American leader.

In a word, "The Golden Circle" is totally dope.

From the dark humor to the cheeky characters, it had me smiling throughout the extremely

fast-paced R-rated narrative.

But the real draw here is the inventively-filmed action sequences - bursting with kinetic movement,

fancy gadgets, and fantastic music.

A sequence where Firth and Egerton fight back-to-back while yet another perfectly-selected pop rock

songs blares in the background was as entertaining as it was outlandish.

Despite the particularly convenient return of Colin Firth, and a few scenes that share

too much similarity to the first - "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" is an excessive action-romp

with likable characters.

I thought it was an AWESOME movie.

That does it for this modest list of 2017 films I loved... but stay tuned in a couple

episodes where I'll look back at some of the ones I hated.

In the meantime, we'll be taking look at classic monster films in my fifth horror episode;

UNDERSTANDING THE HOLOGRAPHIC UNIVERSE THE BANACH TARSKI PARADOX - Duration: 1:44.

UNDERSTANDING THE HOLOGRAPHIC UNIVERSE THE BANACH-TARSKI PARADOX

The Banach-Tarski paradox of Banach and Tarski is a statement of mathematics, which demonstrates

that the descriptive concept of volume cannot be generalized to arbitrary sets of points.

Afterwards, a sphere can be divided into three or more dimensions in such a way that its

parts can be joined together again to form two gapless spheres, each of which has the

same diameter as the original.

The volume doubles, without it being evident how volumes should be created from nothing

through this process.

This paradox demonstrates that the mathematical model of space as a set of points in mathematics

has aspects that are not reflected in physical reality.

Top 10 INSANE Prison Escapes - Duration: 8:07.

Prisons are supposed to keep convicted criminals securely locked up.

However, even maximum-security prisons have inmates breaking out all the time.

Some of the breakout plans are meticulously planned for years, while others are spur of

the moment.

Regardless of how they escaped, it is still absolutely insane that anyone is able to reach

freedom while being locked up and closely monitored.

So here is the top 10 insane prison escapes.

Breaking out in at number 10 we have the Helicopter prison escape.

This is something that I thought only happened in movies.

Take a look (play clip from 1:37-1:50) This video shows two men attempting to climb up

the rope in order to get onto the roof, where the helicopter was waiting.

There were two other accomplices in the helicopter who were armed and hijacked the helicopter

and forced the pilot to fly to the jail.

Eventually the helicopter takes off with the two inmates attached to the rope and it flew

away.

A few hours later however, police arrested these two inmates and now they are looking

at a pretty long sentence.

Escaping in at number 9 is Daniel Luther Heiss.

He was sentenced to life behind bars because he was convicted of murdering another man.

Well, he was able to escape from jail by making a replica of the master key.

He memorized the shape of the key after seeing it on a prison officer's belt but the prison

also had a booklet that they handed out to the prisoners that had a picture of the key

on the cover.

I think whoever put that image on the booklet was most likely fired.

So Daniel and his cellmate used this key to escape the prison, jumped over three sets

of razor wire fence and they were on the run for 12 days before being captured.

Threatening his way out with a wooden gun comes in at number 8 John Dillinger was on

a yearlong criminal spree where he and his gang robbed a dozen banks and a few police

stations, killing ten men in the process.

He was finally arrested and he was brought to Lake Country Jail in Indiana.

At that time, the jail was deemed escape proof but John Dillinger changed that.

On March 3, 1934, he escaped with another inmate by using a fake gun that was carved

out of wood and blackened with shoe polish.

They used this "gun" to force their way out and then they took the sheriff's new

v-8 ford as their escape car.

Later that year, FBI agents shot John Dillinger in Chicago.

Now in at number 7 we are talking about the Parkhurst escape.

Three inmates were able to escape from a maximum-security prison that was on the Isle of Wright.

They made keys to every door and apparently, they were able to replicate each key by using

their sight and memories alone.

While they were in the gym, they unlocked the door to the outside and used a 25-foot

ladder they made to get over the wall of the prison.

One of the inmates was a pilot so the plan was to steal a plane and fly away.

However, the only plane they could find wasn't big enough and there wasn't a key so they

were found shortly after their escape.

Yoshi Shiratori escapes his way into number 6.

He was originally arrested in 1933 for a murder and a robbery.

But, in 1936 he escaped from prison by using a wire to pick his handcuff locks.

He was later captured and sentenced to life imprisonment.

In 1942, he escaped again by climbing up and passing through the ceiling's air vents

and was captured two years later.

Again in 1944 he escaped but this time he used miso soup to rust and weaken his handcuff

and he escaped.

He was free for two years but then he was arrested and sentenced to death after he murdered

a man.

Well, believe it or not he sawed through his cell's floorboards with a sharpened piece

of metal sheet and dug his way out with a bowl.

The Texas Seven ironically make it onto number 5.

This group of seven inmates miraculously escaped from a maximum-security prison by a series

of planned events.

First, they pretended that they wanted to work through their lunch hour so they lured

prison guards to a deserted maintenance area and hit them on the back of the head with

an axe handle.

Some of the prisoners put on the guard's uniforms and stormed a tower in order to steal

some weapons.

Then they phoned the other guard tower to create a diversion.

The others dressed in civilian clothes and pretended that they were there to install

security cameras.

Once the area was clear, they stole a maintenance pickup truck, picked up the other guys from

the guard tower and drove off into the sunset.

Impersonating his way into number 4, Catch me if you can.

Frank Abagnale is a notorious con-man who escaped from a federal detention center in

Atlanta, Georgia in 1971.

He convinced the prison guards that he was a prison inspector and not a prisoner.

He worked with an accomplice on the outside to convince the guards that he was actually

just an undercover prison inspector posing as an inmate who was there to spy on the guards.

Over the next couple of weeks, he built up his fake alibi until the guards trusted him

enough to meet his accomplice outside of the prison walls.

Needless to say, once they let him walk out of the prison, he never returned.

He was able to run from the police for two months before he was arrested in Washington,

DC.

The notorious El Chapo digs his way into number 3.

The world's most infamous drug lord escaped from a high-security prison in Mexico back

in 2015.

He disappeared into a hole that was in his cell shower and escaped through a mile-long

tunnel to freedom.

The tunnel was very sophisticated because it had lighting, ventilation and it even had

a modified motorcycle on tracks.

It is estimated that the escape plan cost about $50 million which included bribes and

construction and the escape route was placed in a blind spot of his cell which leads investigators

to believe that some prison guards had to be in on it.

The great escape from Stalag Luft III Prisoner of war camp makes it into number 2.

In January 1943, Roger Bushell was the mastermind behind this epic escape.

The plan was to dig three deep tunnels that were about 30 feet deep and each of the tunnel

entrances were carefully selected to ensure that they wouldn't be detected by the prison

guards.

As the tunnels grew longer, a pump was built to push fresh air into the tunnels and electrical

lighting was installed and hooked into the prison's electrical grid.

They also built a small rail car system for moving sand more quickly out of the tunnel.

So finally, on March 24, 1943, the escape attempt was underway and 76 prisoners crawled

their way to freedom.

However, out of the 76 men, 3 escaped, fifty men were killed and the rest were captured

and sent back.

Finally in at number 1 is The escape from Alcatraz.

This is an infamous prison that was dubbed as America's escape proof prison.

This jail was located on an island and it had some of America's worst criminals locked

up behind bars.

But on July 11th 1962, 3 men escaped.

They made heads out of soap, toilet paper and real hair and put them in their beds to

fool the correctional officers.

They carefully dug a tunnel that led them to an unused corridor, this took over a year

to complete.

They climbed the ventilation shaft and reached the roof where they climbed down and scaled

a fence.

They had a raft that was made out of raincoats and contact cement.

The FBI never found any trace of the men on Alcatraz or the nearby islands.

After a 17-year investigation, the FBI concluded that the three men must have drowned in the

bay but their bodies were never found either.

Well there you guys have it…

What If Annabelle Was Real? - Duration: 5:40.

I mean… the one thing that scares me more than little girl ghosts are little girl dolls

that are possessed with a demonic malicious spirit….ammmm I right?

Of course I am.

So, understandably, the story of Annabelle, the spooky demon doll, is pretty awful…but

what if it was real?

Hello and welcome back to Life's Biggest Questions where we are celebrating Halloween

with a few spooky episodes!

Don't worry if you're watching after October 31st…Halloween is for life not just for

Christmas…wait..what.

I am Rebecca Felgate…join me as I get back on track and ask What if Annabelle Was Real?

Before I get stuck like a knife in to the back of this spooky video, I want to remind

you die hard questioners that we have a Patreon, and if you want to help support content creation

on this channel, then head on over there and see what we have to offer you in return.

OKAY…Annabelle…right guys…I hate to break it to you, but for those that don't

know….

Annabelle IS real.

I know, I know…it makes me want to cry tears of literal doom, too.

The Annabelle movie Franchise was inspired by real life movie events.

The Conjuring, Annabelle and Annabelle Creations all come from the story of one raggedy Anne

doll, and their current owners, Ed and Lorraine Warren.

The real life Annabelle is less terrifying to look at than the Hollywood porcelain doll,

I dare say she is cute… but her back story is less cute.

Unlike in the movie, Annabelle was not given to a wife by her husband, nor was she a vintage

doll with a dubious back story involving a satanic cult.

The real story… but lets use the word real with a teensy weensy pinch of salt her, comes

from Annabelle's owners, Ed and Lorraine Warren.

The Warrens own the Warren Occult Museum, where Annabelle is currently held.

The Warrens feature in the Annabelle movies and are indeed real people.

Ed died in 2006, but he and Lorraine's story surrounding Annabelle goes like this….they

acquired the Doll of a concerned young woman named Donna.

Donna was a nursing student at the time she was given the doll for her 28th birthday by

her mother.

Donna shared a home with her friend, Angie when, like in the movie, they noticed it was

moving seemingly of its own accord.

According to Ed and Lorraine, Annabelle would leave messages for Donna and Angie and seemed

to be at the centre of several paranormal occurrences.

Donna even claimed there was blood on the doll one day that seemed to come from nowhere.

According to the Warren's, Donna and Angie contacted a medium who said the doll was haunted

by a 7 year old girl named Annabelle, giving the doll her name.

Ed, however, claimed that …I quote….God does not allow a child's spirit to go into

a doll…this was a devil, a demon inside the doll which was impersonating the spirit

of a child."

It was after this alleged demon harmed Angie's fiancé that the girls decided enough was

enough and contacted the Warrens.

The Warren's website claims that, after they became in possession of the doll, a visitor

to their museum died.

Oddly, they don't give a name.

You may notice that Donna, Angie and Lou are missing last names too, which makes them decidedly

ungooglable.

Although Annabelle has been exorcised several times it is believed that some energy is still

attached to this doll.

All of the information we have been given about this doll comes from two people, two

people who made money out of the paranormal… interesting.

So, we know the story from the Anabelle Hollywood movie franchise is based on a real life story……

But…who knows if the Warren's story is based in any truth at all?

If it is, and she was real, then blimey, that must mean demons are real too…and they really

do like to get inside mini human figures.

Annabelle, Robert and the gang are out there to get us….

Although isn't possessing a teeny and very kickable figure a kind of inefficient way

to cause satanic destruction?

Why not possess something bigger.

Think about it, though.

If Annabelle was real, would she stay locked up obediently in Perspex box in an innoculous

town in Conneticut….she has the power to kill a man but not escape a box?

Lol, no.

If Annabelle was real she would have ditched Connecticut years ago and strutted her stuff

like a big bad evil in a place she could do more damage…like New York.

Ooh, I've just thought of a new movie for the franchise….Annabelle: Murder in Manhattan….

Hollywood, feel free to send me that big fat cheque in the post….

Annabelle may have been real to the Warrens, but that doesn't means she is real….but

of course, that doesn't mean she isn't.

Like with ghosts, vampires and werewolves, scepticism is healthy, but any true questioner

should never turn their back on proof...the problem is, when it comes to this kind of

thing, Scientific proof seems to be lacking.

So guys, do you think Annabelle is real?

If she is, what is her game plan?

Will she ever escape her Perspex prison?

Are thick layers of plastic the one true way to stop demons?

Mmhmm.

NFL Execs In FULL PANIC Mode To Save League – Look What They're Doing NOW To Prevent TOTAL Collapse - Duration: 5:08.

NFL Execs In FULL PANIC Mode To Save League – Look What They're Doing NOW To Prevent

TOTAL Collapse.

Despite the best efforts of the social justice warriors, the NFL is still in it's worst

slump in recent history.

The number of viewers continues to plummet as Americans are increasingly insulted by

the players who protest the National Anthem.

With hundreds of millions lost in advertising revenue, the league has been relegated to

damage control.

At this point they seem to be considering moves that would help them minimize their

losses in an effort to salvage what is left of the dying sport.

According to Breitbart News, networks are in talks to cut a sport staple: Thursday night

football.

Because of the very successful boycott of NFL games, they feel that the market is "oversaturated."

"Network executives are scrambling to solve the growing problem of crashing ratings for

the National Football League, by cutting games to end the perceived "over-saturation"

of football on TV.

To put an end to the sliding ratings, the executives are proposing that fewer games

may be the ticket to stop that 'over-saturation,' with one idea being to cut Thursday Night

Footballby a whopping ten games.

The idea to trim Thursday Night Football from 18 games a season to only eight was first

reported by Sports Business Journal and was part of a plan to reverse the ratings crash

that also includes pulling games played in the U.K. back to 1 PM eastern time (6PM London

time)."

The fact that the league considered the market to be oversaturated is a huge win for conservatives.

That means that there are no longer enough eyes to go around for all the games that they

plan to air.

It also means that the players will likely start feeling the burn if the networks aren't

willing to carry as many games.

It will make for less money available to the teams and that will eventually filter down

to the players.

The cuts aren't entirely new territory for the league though.

The past few years the among of games televised have skyrocketed as popularity increased.

Recently, the sharp decline is setting them back years.

"'Ten years ago, the NFL had 32 game windows through week six,' SBJ reported.

'This year, it is up to 39, a 22 percent increase.

It's even more crowded in college, where the 2007 windows to this point added up to

105.

This year, it's at 179, up a whopping 71 percent.'

Mike Mulvihill, a Fox Sports vice president, told SBJ that the problem isn't that there

is too much NFL on TV, but that there is too much football all the way around — including

college.

'The rise in football availability is pretty dramatic,' Mulvihill said.

'This is what drives fragmentation in every area of television.

… You can argue whether there's greater or lesser interest in the game of football

than there was ten years ago.

But clearly, whatever that interest is, it's being spread out over quite a few more windows

than it was ten years ago.'"

Basically, the networks have to decide what they can do to maximize their advertising

revenue while not spending so much to broadcast that they lose it all right away.

The idea seems to be that they can rally what is left of their faltering audience by making

it a less common occurrence.

"For his part, Mark Lazarus, chairman of NBC Broadcasting and Sports, worried that

there is football fatigue by every Sunday of the week and noted that the biggest ratings

fall is among viewers aged 18 to 34 years.

'They more and more are getting satisfied by the alternatives of highlights and scores

that are available during the game,' Lazarus said.

'That continues to train young viewers to follow our sports, not watch our sports.

That is concerning for all sports television."

Ratings are still down despite the small rise seen in Week 7.

NBC Sports is off 21 percent from 2015, CBS Sports is down 14 percent compared to 2015,

and ESPN's Monday Night Football has sunk 17 percent over 2015."

The National Football League is seeing the lowest viewership that they've had overall

in almost 20 years.

Some reports say that the numbers are equivalent to what the viewing was in 1998.

As you can imagine, that's made for some serious soul-searching among NFL executives,

as well as the team owners.

The only people who still don't seem too worried about the problem are the players,

whose contracts aren't yet in jeopardy.

They've even gone so far as to extend an invitation to the NFL meeting to the guy who

started this protest in the first place, Colin Kaepernick.

When the league wouldn't invite him to talk about a game he's no longer playing, some

of his former teammates decided to take it upon themselves.

Boycotting the NFL has been extremely effective as we can see from numbers like this.

At this point the networks are looking at airing 10 fewer games where players disrespect

the country, and that's good news.

The bad news is that these ungrateful players seem to have taken one too many blows to the

head because they're not backing down yet.

what do you think about this?

The Death & Life of Marsha P Johnson - Duration: 9:00.

You what's a cool concept?

Start paying trans people of color for their work.

Start giving trans people of color credit.

Or how about just... start letting trans people of color live!

WHOA!

Radical!

Welcome - tongue pop- today I wanted to talk about the situation surrounding the new Netflix

documentary "The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson".

I 'm like a week of two late, but like what's new??

If you haven't heard there was a documentary that dropped on Netflix recently about trans

icon, hero, and activist Marsha P. Johnson, and just after it came out it also came to

light that alot of the work was actually stolen from a trans WOC named Reina Gossett by the

director David France.

While the conditions surrounding it are like obviously trash, I'm really glad that I got

the chance to find out about Reina's work and learn more about that.

After watching and listening to videos of her giving talks I feel really like connected

to and inspired by her words.

She is really involved in a lot of important work that I think we should all care about,

so like maybe after watching this video go look her up learn more about what she's up

to and what she's been doing because like she's a great person.

So I was actually pretty hype that a documentary about such an important person who is often

overlooked was coming to such a popular platform such as Netflix.

I ended up watching it the day it came out, and the following day I saw Janet Mock repost

Reina's initial post about the film.

So Reina has actually been working for years doing archival and research work on Marsha,

Silvia Rivera, and their work creating S.T.A.R. which stands for Street Transvestite Action

Revolutionaries.

So from my understanding of it all she was working with Sasha Wortzel to create their

own documentary and even got to recording interviews and applying for grants, which

is where David France the director of this documentary got wind of the project and essentially

swooped it for himself gaining access to funds off of his previous successes and white male

privilege(tm) and then making a film capitalizing off the death of a black trans woman.

Since then Reina and Sasha have put out a very detailed statement that if you're interested

I definitely suggest you give it a read and listen to their words and their accounts rather

than just listening to my thoughts as a viewer and kind of random bystander, but I definitely

have some thoughts and kind of wanted to talk about it here because this is really something

that happens all the time.

How often do you hear stories of marginalized people in mainstream media?

How often are those stories told by said marginalized people?

How often are the experiences of marginalized peoples lives altered for the consumption

of privileged people.

How often are marginalized people able to benefit off of telling their own stories while

people with more privilege are able to resell stories that aren't their own for endless

gain???

As a marginalized person you're never allowed to tell your own story or a story that reflects

people like you, instead they'll make money telling the story of your death.

You know I just feel like we have to look at all the layers of everything happening

here.

We have a cis white man making a documentary capitalizing off of, as the titles itself

says, the death and life of a black trans woman.

Capitalizing on the morbidity of her death and the morbidity of the violence and death

of trans and gender nonconforming people, and predominantly trans WOC like Marsha.

We have the work of a trans WOC being stolen and turned into capital for a cis white man.

His white male privilege removes him enough from the marginalization of being an openly

gay man and member of the lgbtqia+ community to still take from and benefit from trans

POC.

It's the LGBT+ community but we're still not acknowledging and fighting for the T, trans

people and when we do it's still not uplifting trans voices to do so.

And then there's the documentary itself, which I honestly have very mixed opinions on.

Being the 'death and life of Marsha P. Johnson' it definitely has a focus on her death, which

makes sense because of the title but I don't know, in some ways I do feel like it could

have obviously focused more on her life and what she did maybe, just a thought?

It was set up like an episode of cold case files, but it never really comes to too much

of a conclusion.

While it digs up information and leads, it never really comes to too much of an in depth

theory I guess.

Considering solving the case is the direction and focus the film kind of went, we never

really come to a conclusion of the case... instead we're lowkey told to believe the autopsy

reports and believe her death was a suicide or it was accidental.

And even though we're led to believe this through a kind of side eye at that thought,

it's still like lowkey the conclusion the documentary leaves you with.

So you're telling me that I should believe what the police and medical examiner say about

the death of a black trans sex worker in New York in the 90's?

Because it's so unheard of for the police to lie, or autopsies have incorrect information.

Or cases being completely swept under the rug.

How many other trans women have been found dead in New York alone since Marsha?

How many do we not even know about?

How many more will this happen to?

I'm torn between outright telling you to boycott the film all together and not, but ultimately

if you haven't you shouldn't watch the documentary on Netflix to support Reina.

You should instead wait for and watch her film "Happy Birthday, Marsha!" coming out

in 2018.

Rather than watching a film made off of the stolen efforts, work, and lives of trans WOC.

On the other hand I do see it as something important for cis people to see, I'm not telling

you to view it through other sources... but I'm also like not not telling you to do that.

But to see a documentary that does focus on the death of the trans woman and talk at least

somewhat about the violence and harassment that trans and gender nonconforming people

face, but yet again there probably are better documentaries out there with a specific focus

point on violence and the trans community and the ways that said violence and murder

ties into varying intersections.

I was talking to a trans friend of mine, hey Juicy!

About this like right after I watched it and as a trans person this documentary doesn't

really tell me anything I didn't already know and feel about violence towards people like

me, but seeing it all laid out in front of you where you can visualize it is a kind of

traumatizing experience in itself, and this documentary didn't even dive that deep into

the broad spectrum of violence towards trans and gender nonconforming people.

Like at the end of the day that was a documentary primarily about one person, so I can't even

imagine how hard it would be to watch a film about the violence and murders of trans people

on a more collective note, I guess.

But yet again I feel like that is something that is more suited for cis viewers, people

who are outside of the experience and existence and understanding to watch and be informed

and take in, take something away from it rather than just further traumatizing trans people

with the incredible shortcomings and faults of reality.

Everyday I think about the fact that I could be another statistic.

Another number.

How by just existing I'm more likely to be sexually assaulted, beaten, stabbed, shot,

murdered.

For there not to be justice found in my murder.

Expecting to face discrimination in jobs, housing, medical fields, everywhere.

These are things that I already know and think about, but things that (most) cis people don't

have to think about.

And if we want anything to change, and if any cis people watching actually want progress

these are things that you need to think about too.

I love a light topic!

So yeah um really as per usual umm you know support trans POC, support trans POC's work.

Learn more about trans activists, umm yet again I'm very happy that I now know of Reina

and I can continue to learn from her work and do my own research into her work and umm...

yeah.

Uhh capitalism is trash!

Is really what this boils down to a capitalistic issue.

It's more profitable to sell the stories of marginalized people by paying less marginalized

people to do so, because why would you...

why would you pay people that you don't think are people?

We come in peace! -harsh whisper- SUBSCRIBE for new videos whenever they get posted, social

media crap in the description k bye!

It's that time of the video where- I'm probably getting really annoying by doing this but

like hey I guess this is now the closing of every video lol, self promotion I have a Patreon

What can we do to better understand our family of origin?: Clip from Podcast 194 - Duration: 2:23.

Dr. Kim, what can we do to better understand our family of origin and prevent it from messing our marriage?

I think a lot of us don't even know what our insanities are, what our crazies are,

why we do things the way we do them, what we think about ourselves and believe about ourselves,

based on what our parents told us things like that.

You know, I really think depending how deep it is. Some people they're gonna work pretty easily

and some people it's gonna take a lot more work.

I think you've got to get the conversation going between you and your spouse.

I think just being honest with each other. Maybe you talk to each other even before marriage,

or early in the marriage or now depending on if you're still struggling with that.

Okay, what are some things that you say, give each other permission.

What are some things you see in my family?

You think, maybe start out are good and that you'd like to us to put on our marriage.

And do you see some things there that you feel like we should really try to leave behind?

Just begin those honest conversations with each other.

Cause you're the ones forming your marriage and your life together. You're the ones to have to redefine it.

I think too, one thing where I was really wrong was because my family was pretty healthy.

Nancy would say that, that's one of the things that really attracted her, and hers had some dysfunction in it.

So my deal, it was easy for me to be very critical of hers and really kind of say we need to be like mine.

Well that we didn't even you'd be like mine either. We need to take the good things out of mine,

and the good things that we figure out in hers.

And then there were both sides there are things we need to leave behind.

But it was real easy for me to point the finger and think well you know if you hadn't been right this way

or if your parents wouldn't want this way, we wouldn't have these problems.

A little bit of truth in that with the way I was handling, it was totally wrong.

Yeah, that's a really good point I think that I'll help a lot of couples.

I think there are a lot of couples out there like you and Nancy where maybe one family's a little bit more sane

and so you tend to just go and steer towards that direction.

But you can't only do that. You do have to create this new life together.

I think some other things that you can do to kind of understand your family of origin,

is just prayerfully, like self-analyzing.
