- [Alexis] Hello!
I'm so excited!
Today is my first appointment at Troppman Prosthetics
to get fitted for a violin arm.
Yes, a violin arm.
A violin arm.
I'm going to get a violin arm,
which means I can play the violin.
So, Troppman Prosthetics was the very first
prosthetist office that I went to when I was 18 months old,
I think I got fitted for my first prosthetic.
So, I'm going to go back there and I'm very excited.
And I really wanted to take you on this journey
with me today, so
let's go.
Let's go get an arm.
I'm having an excited pee before I go.
(giggles)
What do you need to bring to the prosthetist's office?
Your stump.
(laughs)
Oh my God.
What a great day to go get fitted for a violin arm.
Oh, someone's looking at me funny.
Good day to you.
(burps)
Pardon me.
(seat belt alert beeping)
Here we go.
I'm hungry; I should have brought a snack.
(turn signal clicking)
I just found chocolate in the car.
Holy shit.
Yes.
During my intake phone call,
one of the questions they asked me was,
when was your amputation?
And I was like,
at birth.
In utero.
(laughs)
I was born this way.
I don't think I've ever had to answer that question.
So that was kind of funny.
They also asked me if I had any anger issues.
I don't know why that's a thing.
Are they worried that I'm going to throw it at someone?
Make me angry enough, I will throw my arm at you.
Just kidding.
Could you imagine me doing that?
No.
(singing) I'm going to get fitted for a violin arm today.
Wow, this place is hard to find.
(gasps)
Troppman Prosthetics.
I found it, I found it, I found it, I found it.
It's here, it's here, it's right here.
Check out this awesome parking sign.
The two spots in front are reserved for leg amps.
Just amazing.
This is so cool.
I'm in the waiting room.
Looks kind of like this.
You know?
Like a typical waiting room.
Check out this sweet poster.
Well, hello there.
(bright music)
This is where the old feet go to die?
Oh.
Wow.
(bright music)
Oh my goodness, that was amazing.
It was like coming home.
It felt the same.
Like I loved going to Troppman Prosthetics.
I loved it so much.
I loved getting the casting and the smells and
just seeing all the legs and arms lying around.
I got to do it all again.
I got goosebumps.
I'm just like (squeals).
I'm going to have four appointments,
so after this I'll have probably 3 more.
I'm going to keep videoing
and I asked all the folks that I met there
if they'd like to be on camera and today they were too shy,
but next time they said maybe.
(laughs evilly)
Yeah, this was the first installment of my
violin prosthetic journey.
Stay tuned for more.
I can't wait to show you my journey.
And I also really appreciate you watching an episode
that isn't necessarily food-centric.
Most of my episodes are going to be
around recipes and food and cooking.
But it's nice to be able to put up a couple that are
different, you know?
Other stump things, prosthetics,
life things.
Of course, I'm still going to do 99% cooking stuff
on my channel, but once in a while,
we're going to do fun things like this.
Stump adventures.
Yeah.
Okay.
Thanks for watching.
Bye.
