Waching daily Mar 3 2018

On September 30th, 1938, Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain returned to London from Munich

and declared that he had negotiated a deal with Hitler that said their two countries

were never going to go to war again.

Later, from Downings street he declared that it was peace for our time.

And all it cost them was giving part of Czechoslovakia to the Germans!

Hitler, apparently not having gotten the memo, later took several more Czech provinces and,

in September of 1939, invaded Poland, officially bringing Britain into the war.

By May of 1940 the country had lost confidence in Chamberlains ability to lead during wartime

and on May 10th, hours before the German invasion of France, Chamberlain resigned.

His resignation opens Darkest Hours, a movie which centers around Winston Churchill's

first three weeks in the position.

A harrowing three weeks during which France collapsed, and the British Expeditionary force,

some 400,000 men, were pushed all the way back to Dunkirk and Calais, with no hope of

getting them out in time before the German's rolled tanks in and slaughtered them.

I have no idea as to the accuracy of the dramatic aspects of the story.

After he resigned as Prime Minister Chamberlain stayed on in the government and Churchill

selected him as a member of his war cabinet, along with a Chamberlain loyalist that had

turned down the position of Prime Minister, Stannis Baratheon.

The movie sets up the two of them up as Churchill's antagonists in the story.

With most of the Britains infantry facing slaughter in France, and no allies in sight,

Chamberlain and Stannis favor opening up peace talks through Italy which effectively would

amount to surrender with terms.

Churchill must decide.

That is the context of Darkest Hour, a movie which I thoroughly enjoyed, starring Gary

Oldman as the notorious Prime Minister, and I've had friends whose opinions I value

tell me that they found the movie dull.

I couldn't disagree more.

To be clear, Darkest Hour is not really war movie, nor is it a politics film.

It's a biopic that attempts to use the events from a single month in his life, to try and

paint a portrait of one history's most interesting and eccentric leaders.

201 In the first three minutes of the movie where

we meet Winston Churchill, he's drinking scotch for breakfast, coughs into the phone

as a hello to the French ambassador, and accidentally flashes his undercarriage to a young new secretary.

After screaming her from his bedroom his wife provides what could be considered the movies

only thesis.

9:30 "He's a man, like any other."

The movie may center around politics but that is because that is the service to which his

dedicated his life.

When Churchill is confirmed, Clementine Churchill acknowledges that the family had to make peace

with the fact that Churchill was never going to be much of a father due to the required

sacrifices of public life.

In the scene his daughters can't make eye contact and his son downs his glass of champagne

vengefully.

And sure enough that ends up being as much of his family beyond his wife.

And his conflict with Chamberlain and Stannis is not painted in simple moral black and white

either.

As easy as it is for us now to look back at the time and say who was right, painting Chamberlain

and Stannis as simple antagonists, the movie gives them enough depth to be able to identify

with their perspectives.

Churchill was a hardliner dead set against negotiation.

In Chamberlain's eyes and his desire for peace I started to see a man who just 20 years

before the events of the film was witness to a World War that cost 20 million deaths.

A war that everyone thought would end all wars.

No one knew at the time what was about to happen and I found Chamberlains desperate

desire for peace relatable, and actually helps provide Churchill a meaningful arc in the

story.

301

Strangely as I watched Darkest Hour I kept kept finding myself reminded of the Harry

Potter movies and at first I was wondering if it was because of some undiagnosed Americanism.

But I think it's Joe Wright's direction in the movie that evokes the fanciful.

He has a playful visual style here that never lets Darkest Hour actually feel like a war

film.

The colorful visual palette and whimsical shot composition seem to be communicating

that this is a movie about a man who led England against the Nazis yes, but it's also about

a man who would wear a velvet onesie, could drink anyone under the table, and once spent

a great deal of a 24 day trip to the white house naked.

*turning stairs *boy looking through his hand 33:50

*woman on the stairs shower scene *42:45 bombing shot on womans face

1:35 guy staring at him on the underground

Of course the internet's love affair with Gary Oldman is pretty well documented at this

point.

From fifth element to True Romance to Dracula.

He is a scene stealer, one of the greatest supporting actors ever.

But it's obvious that the Academy prefers a particular kind of movie, regardless of

performance.

DiCaprio finally cracked the codex and now with Darkest Hour Oldman may have as well.

*The professional joke.

There isn't much to say except that when you go and see a movie Gary Oldman is in you

just know you're going to see something terrific, and you do.

Oldman performance of Churchill is charming, loving, offensive, rude, and hilarious.

Gary Oldman is a treasure but I found Darkest Hour a charming and incredibly watchable film

in total.

His pairing here with Joe Wright has created a portrait that is warm and welcoming and

engrossing - one that I'm looking forward to seeing again.

Battlefield 5, No New Nvidia GPUs, CoinBase Helps IRS -- Weekly Download #83 - Duration: 5:59.

"Alexa, what's my flash brief"

Hey welcome to Zach's Tech Turf.

Yes, the Weekly Download podcast is now an Alexa Skill, and it's also now available

on iTunes, Google Play, iHeart Radio, and stitcher.

Tons of ways to listen to the podcast if you're more interested in that during your commute

to work or whatever, but anyways, today on Weekly Download #83 I'm gonna be playing

some Destiny 2 while I give you this new, I got my coffee right here, make sure you

guys let me know in the comment section what you're sippin on.

Let's get into it.

To start off the tech news for the week, Massdrop reported a conversation that they had with

Nvidia earlier this week about how Nvidia believes GPU prices will continue to rise

until at least quarter 3 of this year.

Apparently Nvidia stated that the DDR memory manufacturers are producing way more memory

for phones like Apple and Samsung, which are much bigger companies than like MSI, Gigabyte,

Asus, etc.

Nvidia also said that realistically the only way for this trend to break was if crypto

crashed as a whole, which in my personal opinion we won't see.

Make sure you check out my used PC build guides like the one I just uploaded yesterday because

building USED definitely seems like the way to go here in early 2018.

Also in Nvidia news, multiple independent reports have indicated that despite the rumours

floating around, Nvidia will most likely NOT be announcing their new graphics cards at

the upcoming GDC and GTC events this month.

This is actually a huge bummer because us gamers really wanna jump into the next generation

of Nvidia cards and forget about all this madness, but it doesn't look like we'll

get our wish.

As or right now the reports stated that there is a possibility of them announcing small

bits of info, but nothing major.

Next up in more GPU and crypto news, Jon Peddie Research put out a report that over 3 million

graphics cards were bought in 2017 worth about $776 million dollars just from miners.

This seems like a huge number for sure, but the research did include that this number

is pretty low compared to how many GPUs were bought just for gamers, so that' definitely

good to hear that GPU demand is still mainly dominated by gamers and just supplemented

by miners.

The bad news though is that this Dr. Peddie also commented that he thinks these GPU prices

will remain high and not drop in the near future.

Ouch.

And our last piece of crypto news this week, not even really tech news but I feel the need

to keep you guys informed about major bitcoin news, Coinbase told their customers on Friday

that because of a court order they will be releasing data of 13,000 customers to the

IRS.

The court ordered CoinBase to turn in customer's taxpayer IDs, names, date of birth, addresses,

and transaction records to anyone that purchased crypto from 2013 to 2015 in an effort for

the IRS to find who evaded paying taxes on their gains.

Never, never hide money from the IRS, duh.

Alright still in the tech news but moving passed cryptocurrency, Sharkoon has released

another mouse pad to their stock, but this time it's what I think the first ever cloth

RGB mousepad.

You guys have probably all seen those really expensive RGB mouse pads from like Razer and

Corsair, but this one is a more budget friendly version because it's just cloth and it's

coming in around 20 bucks, but that price isn't official yet.

Next up DeepCool is launching some very unique PC case fans here in April, and they are RGB,

frameless designed fans that you can control with your phone.

For $110 you get a pack of 3 fans that all plug into a controller, that you'll then

be able to connect to with your smartphone.

There you can change the speeds, colors, etc and they are all in a frameless design which

looks pretty cool, but can be dangerous.

Be careful out there.

Huawei is releasing a new laptop line this week, the Matebook X Pro which is some serious

bang for your buck, if you wanna pay for aesthetics.

The Matebook X is supposed to be compared with sleek laptops like the Surface Laptop

and the Macbook Pro, and it's actually doing it at a way better price.

Huawei isn't a top seller in the US for laptops compared to Apple, Lenovo, Dell, etc,

but we really need to give them more attention.

They're releasing some i5 and i7 versions, and even with discrete graphics, and for just

how good this looks you really can't beat their prices.

I'll definitely be keeping my eye on these.

And to wrap up all this tech news, the Samsung Galaxy S9 released over the weekend and like

we all imagined, it's a pretty good phone.

It seems like the running theme is that the camera and display are definitely competing

with the iPhone X, but it really does come down to personal preference as well.

I'm not gonna talk about the specs and all that because I'm really not a huge phone

guy, especially on this channel, so let's jump into the PC gaming news.

There's really not a lot this week, but the latest rumour about the 2018 battlefield

game is that it will be set in World War 2 which is pretty cool I guess.

There's also a couple different sources saying that it will be called Battlefield

5, but who knows.

Next up Trion has decided that the 2013 MMO shooter Defiance, which was supposed to compete

against the first Destiny, is now worthy of a remake called Defiance 2050.

It's set 20 years after the first game, which I actually did enjoy for the short time

I played it, and it's expected to release this summer.

And to wrap up the PC gaming news for the week, Intro the Breach, developed by the same

team as FTL, is now on a pretty good sale over on GOG.

Intro the Breach is currently rocking overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam, apparently has

a lot of FTL DNA in it, and if you pick it up for 15 bucks over on GOG they'll throw

in FTL absolutely free.

Might try this one out.

Well that wraps up Weekly Download episode number 83.

I know i took out the intro last week and threw it back in this week, I'm currently

trying to craft up a better intro specifically for the Weekly Download series so just give

me some time on that.

Well I hope you guys enjoyed this video, please drop a like down below to help support my

PURAN STUFFED NANKHATAI RECIPE|HOW TO MAKE NANKHATAI WITH PURAN |UNIQUE NANKHATAI(PURAN) - Duration: 6:02.

Hi Friends welcome to my channel Kitchen To Kitchen.

Today I am going to show you A very unique recipe called Puran Stuffed Nankhatai Nankhatai

is nothing but shortbread biscuits that are very popular in India and some Asian countries.

I am also going to show you the stuffing that's called Puran and how to make that.

So without wasting any further time let's get right into it.

We need 1 cup of chana dal or split chickpeas 1 cup of sugar 2 cups of maida or all purpose

flour 1 cup fine suji or semolina, some chopped nuts, I am using almonds, 1/2 cup oil, pinch

of salt, some cardamom powder and I am using some mix fruits in here as well so the ones

that you put in the cakes , I am just using some of those . First we are going to cook

the chana dal and for that I am using a pressure cooker , wash it thoroughly and about 2 cups

of water.

Cover and let it cook for 3 whistles . After cooling open it and we are going to strain

the chana dal to remove all that excess water so with the help of a strainer just strain

it like that.

Take a wide pan and add the starined chana dal to the pot also add cup of sugar turn

on the flame to medium.

Mix it Well.

You are going to keep stirring it and cook it on a medium flame till the mixture kinda

becomes a little thick just like that.

Notice that all that extra moisture is evaporated.

But we are gonna keep stirring it and cook it till the spoon stands like that.

This confirms that our mixture is well cooked so just toss one more time and add some cardamom

powder.

And switch off the flame.

We are going to knead the dough with 2 cups of maida, 1 cup of fine suji and we are not

gonna use any water just with the help of oil we are going to make the dough.

It will take about 10 minutes or so to make the dough.

Once it's ready, let it rest for about 2 hours.

The dough has rested well.

We are just gonna knead one more time before we start making the Nankhatai.

Take a small portion of dough like that, about the size of a lemon and start spreading it

like that.

You want to make space to add the stuffing, so take a big portion of the stuffing and

add some fruit mix and almonds and you know start closing the ball like that.

The Puran stuffed Nankhatai starts to come together so adjust as much you like it and

once you are happy you can put it on a plate.

I am going to make one more Nankhatai in this shape.

So just spread it like that, add the stuffing of Puran, mix fruit, almonds and then close

it.

So I have one more in this shape ready.

Next up, I want to show you how you can use the silicon molds of cupcakes to make a more

nicer shape.

Grease the silicone molds with oil and take one ball of the dough and just you know start

pressing it into the mold like that.

Add in the Puran stuffing and just follow the same process.

And then cover it and close it.

So you know you will nice get the nice shape of a cupcake for your Nankhatai.

I am gonna make the remaining ones in this shape since I liked it so much.

Notice that to make these Puran stuffed Nankhatais we didn't have to starin or grind he puran

mixture as opposed to making the Puran Polis because if you don't do that you know your

Polis will break since there are lumps of those chana dal in the mixture.

So making these kinda helped me skip that process altogether.

Here I have all the Nankhatais ready.

I am gonna preheat the oven to 375 degree F and place all of them.

We are gonna cook these Nankhatais at 375 degrees for about 20 minutes.

After 20 minutes, I have let them cool down for 30 minutes or so and take them out of

the mold.

Let'scut and see how those Nankhatais look from inside.

Look at that so beautiful, look at the crumbles as well as the stuffing, absolutely delicious.

These Puran Stuffed Nankhatais are so unique and absolutely delicious.

You gotta try them.

If you've liked today's recipe, please don't forget to like, subscribe and comment.

Thank you

How to Replace a Background in Photoshop - Duration: 13:49.

alright welcome back in this video we're gonna replace the background of this BMW M240i

if you of course like the videos please subscribe to my channel

with the link below what we're gonna do we're gonna take this photo here and

we're gonna turn it into this so with that let's get started

alright so the first thing I'm gonna do here is just zoom in and we're gonna

have to get an outline here for replacing this background so what I'm

gonna use is the pen tool and just to let you know that with this photo it's

already been cleaned up I did go through and clean up the the foreground and also

some of the blemishes on the car and what we're gonna do we're just gonna

trace I'm just gonna trace around the car here just to get a good line and

around the ground here as well we'll just take it will trace across this

trace around this grass here we're just gonna select this building define a

selection we'll just feather this to one pixel and what I'm gonna do is this

doesn't have to be very precise I just want it to be light when I select the

background next time in the next step so let's just wipe that out

and also we're just a select here use the pen tool again just to select along

the line and just gonna select this tree and this building back here and I'm gonna

use the clone tool and just kind of clone this out alright that's good

deselect get that little patch right there and that's pretty good so I'm

gonna zoom out and I'm simply gonna just paint the sky here with white and again

this doesn't have to be very accurate it's just gonna help when I select the

color range to replace the background

just get along here okay that's probably good that looks quite good there before

and after yeah that's a good start all right so we'll flatten that we'll just

start with this one layer here and we're gonna use this background this

is a selection from Death Valley that I had taken back in late 2015 and we're

gonna copy and paste it and we're just gonna drop the opacity so we can see

where we want to really situate this background and that looks that looks

pretty good there alright that's great

we're going to select we're gonna create a mask on it and we're gonna create a

black mask so you can fill that with black or you can use a shortcut key to

create the black layer and here we're gonna select the color range and we're

just gonna adjust the fuzziness here to get a good selection modify X we're

gonna modify expand and expand that by one pixel great so back on the layer

mask we're just gonna use the gradient tool and we'll adjust the opacity now we

don't want this a full opacity because I'm gonna add I'm going to add a little

smoke a little dust in the background kind of blend it a little

better look around and that's a pretty good selection that looks really good

before and after you can see it kind of bleeds into to the windshield here so

we're gonna do a couple things now what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna use a brush

we're going to drop my opacity to 75% we're just gonna paint across this area

here because with the windshield of course it wouldn't be it wouldn't be

completely see-through like the background would be the glass itself

would kind of create this sort of effect okay that's pretty good and on

the corner of the windshield I'm gonna use the pen tool and just select this

area so I can paint out that little bit we'll get around the rear-view mirror

here okay all right and just trace make a selection right click make selection

and feather the radius to one pixel and we'll just paint on this mask get rid of

that portion there that didn't didn't really blend very well make sure we

didn't select any the rest of the car make sure the background is not on and

we see here is a little bit on the rear-view mirror here on the right so

same thing we're gonna select make a selection around this and simply paint

out that little area

all right so let's just take a look around the car here and with it on and

off just to see if any had blend it in to the headrests any other part of the

car there we go that looks great so that's the first step is replacing the

background that we had and quite successful with that it doesn't blend

perfectly it looks a little off so we're just gonna flatten this image to make

things easier and we're gonna create a new layer and we're gonna call this

layer fog now I have a brush it's a fog brush where is it here and there we go

so we'll select this here and what we're gonna do is we're gonna select a color

that's in the photo and right there let's see just the size here and we'll

hold shift to select a color all right here is good and we're just gonna paint

in with this brush to make kind of a fog smoke effect put a little here behind

the car and in front now this is going over the car but we'll fix that later

and really the purpose of this is give it a little a little more atmosphere in

the photo give it a little effect but also to help blend the background more

into the foreground

okay paint here alright we're just gonna make sure we cover all of the background

okay now with another brush we'll just get a regular round brush a hardness of

zero and we're just gonna paint over this with a mask just to get rid of the

portions that are in front of the car and with this this is something that

doesn't have to be very close the back of the car we're

gonna fix a little closer than the front here but let's just paint around we'll

get a little this on the wheel well zoom in and make sure we have the

back here there's a little bit over these headrests let's just use the pen

tool we'll trace around this and around the back of the car all right that's

good down here and around and that selection is good there and we'll get

this headrest as well I see a little smoke that's that's on that okay that's

good so we will make the selection here so

the radius again one pixel and let's just paint over this all right so that's

that's that and just looking around looks pretty good so far we're gonna fix

this is the end of it we're gonna fix this fog way to obvious right now in

this little portion here in the ground I don't really like that I could leave a

little in the foreground on a different layer but for this this example I'm just

gonna use the one layer and use the fog and a smoke in the background completely

up to you if you wanted to add another layer you can add more fog and more

smoke with a different opacity alright we're gonna use the Gaussian blur here

we're just gonna blur this smoke and with the radius let's just play around

with this a little higher than that and

that's 64 that looks pretty good we'll use that

and before and after it's a little too much let's just drop this opacity

all right and a bit more

okay so that's pretty good we'll go into the background here we're just gonna

turn off this layer and just quickly I should've did this at at the first but

let's just get rid of this rock a little distracting we use content-aware to

quickly get rid of that the smoke is gonna cover it but it's just a little

patch job here alright that's pretty good great so we'll bring the fog back

in order to duplicate that layer and we're gonna use the render and lens

flare this is just to add a little of course lens flare a little bit of light

to the photo we'll drag it out here at a frame near the top there you go before

and after smoke before and after with and without now let's just drop this

opacity here okay that's pretty good now with this we're going to add a layer and

just with the gradient tool we'll just take out the the lens burst there I

don't really like those most times I don't like when they go over the car too

much I just want the effect itself all right there we go so we'll flatten that

image and that's it that's a quick way to how to replace a background and for a

final adjustment we're just gonna use a curves adjustment just to add a little

contrast to the photo and this is just very slight that looks pretty good let's

try a little slight adjustment there

okay great and with a layer here I don't like the effect it it takes on on the

foreground here so we're just gonna paint this away we'll just use the

curves adjustment on the car and the background alright there we go and

that's it thanks very much and I'll see in the next video and of course reminder
