Charles! I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.

It's all right. It's all right.

This society won't accept us.

We form our own.

The humans have played their hand.

Now we get ready to play ours.

Who's with me?

No more hiding.

You should go with him.

It's what you want.

You promised me you would never read my mind.

I know.

I promised you a great many things, I'm afraid.

I'm sorry.

Take care of him.

And, Beast, never forget.

Mutant and proud.

Help me out, come on.

I'm gonna get you to a hospital.

Wait, Charles.

Charles, don't move, okay?

I won't.

Actually...

I can't feel my legs.

-What? -I can't feel my legs.

I can't feel my legs.

In this week of Thanksgiving

there is much for which we can be grateful

as we look back to where we stood only four weeks ago.

The unity of this hemisphere, the support of our allies

and the calm determination of the American people.

These qualities may be tested many more times in this decade.

3 Second Year Players to Breakout (2018 49ers) - Duration: 6:19.

Ayo! It's Bryan here. Today, going to be talking about the San Francisco 49ers.

Going to be doing yet another Top 3 video. This time, covering the Top 3

second year players I'm excited to see for 2018 and have a breakout season. Now

as you all know, as I keep mentioning in almost every single video last year, the

2017 draft class was amazing. Pretty much everyone made a contribution in their

rookie years. So, I'm just going to be mentioning the players that I think are

going to make the biggest jump from rookie season to their second year. So, anyone in

the 2017 draft class will be included on this list. Let's just get into it. I think

you guys know how this goes. Before I get the video started, please do "Like" and

Subscribe to support this channel. Always helps a lot. Want to get to 1,000

subscribers by football season. I think that's pretty reasonable since I'm going to be

busting out a lot of content for you guys. Hopefully, you guys been enjoying

this Top 3 series for this whole offseason and that's why I'm going to be

sticking to for right now. Anyways, let's get into it. The Top 3 second year

players that are bound to breakout. Coming into number three, I have

Adrian Colbert. Now, I am a big fan of this guy. I think a lot of people are fans of this

guy as well because last year in 2017, he had a big breakout season. He was a

pretty physical safety and that's what the 49ers need because the 49ers have

been pretty tamed in defense for the past couple of years now ever since

Harbaugh and Fangio left the 49ers. I'm excited to see this guy. I think he's

going to be a very good safety in his second year and also, having Richard

Sherman as your mentor. It just can't get even better. I can't

really say anything else. Adrian Colbert, safety? He's going to be pretty damn good. He

has a very good story from last year. Came out in the 7th round. Nothing

too crazy. People thought he was just going to be some role player, but he ended

up breaking out, which was pretty cool. A little quick fact, he is the cousin of

Marquise Goodwin, which is a pretty cool, interesting fact

right there. If you didn't know, there's your fact of the day. You learn

something new. I believe Colbert is going to be one of the

great breakout players for the 49er defense and he might be the best safety

in the NFL, maybe. If he can keep continuing to grow during this offseason.

Have a good preseason showing. He will do a pretty good job for the 49ers

and solidified the defensive backfield along with Richard Sherman. Coming in at

number two, I have George Kittle, tight end. I believe George Kittle is going to have a

very big breakout season for 2018. If I had to make a prediction for him in

terms of statistics, I believe he can receive

around 7(00) to 800 yards. I think it's a pretty good production

right there for a tight end and for the whole team in general because I believe

Marquise Goodwin and Pierre Garçon are going to be very big focal points in this

offense, as well as Trent Taylor, Kendrick Bourne. There's just so much talent on the

wideout position that maybe George Kittle doesn't get as much targets, but I

think Jimmy Garoppolo should go to him as a security blanket if everything else goes

wrong. Just go to George Kittle. I know he has a small sample size. I know he didn't

play as much. I think he only started seven games, but he really came out near

the end this season. Also, he was a pretty good piece of the offense when Brian

Hoyer and C.J. Beathard were the quarterbacks. So, if he can perform well

between those lines and he can perform well with Jimmy Garoppolo of course, then

I think he can have a breakout season even more. I know there's a lot of talent in

this offense as I mentioned, but I think Kittle is going to be a very big part of

this offense for our tight end with Garrett Celek. That could be a pretty

good dual combo right there or he could be the number one tight end. I don't know

exactly, but we'll see when training camp happens, but I think George Kittle is

going to be the man for the tight end position. He would be a very good

security blanket for Jimmy Garoppolo and I believe we will be seeing his name even

more in 2018. Before I get to the number one player bound to break out in 2018

from their rookie season. Got to do a couple of honorable mentions. First, I'm

going to be mentioning Reuben Foster. I believe Foster is going to be a freaking

beast for the 49ers. We saw him last year in 2017. Everyone was so excited for him.

I was so hyped up for him and in the offseason, he had a little bit of trouble

I guess you want to call it, but he was acquitted of all charges. So, that's a

good thing, but he has to deal with the NFL and I don't know what the NFL is

thinking about his whole case or whatever. Are they going to suspend him for

the marijuana charges? Are they're going to suspend him for the domestic violence? I

don't know. Although he's been acquitted the whole thing, you never know how the

NFL reacts. So, I wanted to put him the number one, but I can't right now. Just

because the pending issues maybe that he might have with the NFL. There you have it.

Also, I'm going to be putting Trent Taylor, wide receiver. Taylor's going to be a very

big point in this offense. So much talent on the wideout position as I'm seeing on

paper and I believe Trent Taylor's going to be part of that. Also, the return game. He

can kind of be there as well, but you got Dante Pettis as the man that San

Francisco is going to be looking forward to this season. Ahkello Witherspoon could

be a pretty good role player. I mean last year, he was a pretty high point in the

49ers defense that wasn't the best I would say. So, got to give him some credit

there, but I think Witherspoon can have a good second year. Undrafted player

Kendrick Bourne. People forget, he was undrafted coming into last year and he

was fantastic for the 49ers in 2017. I'd love to see Bourne breakout even more and I

think Jimmy Garoppolo would appreciate having him as a top target for the

49ers. So, those players, honorable mentions. A lot of to mention, but I can

only pick one player. Coming in at number one as the breakout player I believe for

2018 from their rookie season is Solomon Thomas, defensive end. I think

Solomon Thomas is going to be a fricking stud in 2018. He had some problems early

on in his rookie season from the offseason with the whole contract

situation. I don't know if it was a big deal or not, but he wasn't signed with

the 49ers. He got signed I think later on before maybe the preseason or training

camp or something like that. I think it was before training camp. That's when he

got signed, but he was a little bit behind. Tried his best in his rookie

season, but got marred with injuries. Didn't have the best gameplay I guess you can

say for his rookie season, but I believe in 2018 with a full offseason. Fully

signed and everything, I think he's going to be one of the top defensive players for

the 49ers and he's going to be a focal point because you got to get to the

quarterback as a defensive end and I think Solomon Thomas will do that as well as

DeForest Buckner. He got a very good defense I would say on paper and also Richard

Sherman's there for all the defensive players. I think he can help him out in

terms of the whole defensive scheme. I believe he can get at least 10 sacks

this whole season. I could have put that my bold predictions. So hopefully, he can

do something like that. Hopefully, he can have a big impact for the 49ers

defensive line and I think he will be the biggest breakout for 2018 in terms

of second year players. So yeah. That's my list everyone.

Please let me know what you guys list are for the 49ers top players from their

second years from rookies in 2017 bound to break out in 2018. I'd love to hear what

you guys have to say. If you guys like this, please "Like" and Subscribe.

Do whatever you want with this video and I will be definitely catching you guys up another

time. I hope you guys have a nice day, nice week and nice whatever and I'll see you guys

another time. Bye guys. Love y'all as always!

Sophia Bush on 'Incredibles 2' & Her Character Voyd | MTV News - Duration: 4:28.

- I'm a huge superhero fan.

My whole goal as a kid was to grow up and be Batman.

So it's pretty hilarious, and you know,

I generally tend to be at the theater opening night

of any of the MCU movies, so.

I'm really excited to be dipping into that pool finally.

- Help me bring Supers back into the sunlight.

We need to change people's perceptions about superheros.

And Elastigirl is our best play.

- Better than me?

- (clears throat)

- When Brad Bird, who writes and directs these movies,

told me that Voyd is Elastigirl's biggest fan,

I had to figure out, in what I understood of her life,

what that meant and where that came from.

And to me, starting to think about identity

and starting to think about the way that people

in society can be othered for who they are,

which is such a devastating experience,

when you have a person who personifies this idea

of it getting better, of belonging,

that's a really big deal.

And you look at Voyd and she's rocking blue hair

and a side shave, you know?

She's expressing that she's radical,

but she is living in a time where girls like her,

women like her, people like her,

have literally been made illegal.

I really thought about her experiences as a kid, you know,

realizing she had powers, realizing she was a Super,

and what it would've felt like when, at a stage in her life,

the forward motion of that journey was halted.

So really for me, I created a whole framework for her

around this idea of identity and belonging.

When you go in to do animation like this,

you're not looking at anything.

You're not in the room having a conversation

with another actor, kind of matching their tone

or their excitement level, you are really

making it all up as you go.

And that's where I think having a director like Brad

is so wonderful, because he knows exactly

what he's looking for.

He knows the energy level he needs,

he knows the intonation that he wants, and so,

I brought all of my ideas in to the table,

and he gave me so much direction

and what I think is probably the coolest at the end of it

is seeing how many of the ad-libs that I decided to throw in

and the things that I just wanted to try in the room,

once I had his perspective and my perspective

kind of melded together, so many of those things

made it into the movie, and that's just exciting.

That lets me know that we were really on the same page.

It was so cool, getting to put this moment together

for Voyd and Elastigirl.

You know, these two, strong, bad ass, cool, quirky

female superheroes who have so much heart,

and for Voyd to be able to sort of

begin stepping in to her power.

You know, she's a young woman, she's been hiding who she is,

so she doesn't have a perfect grasp on her power yet,

and for Elastigirl to call on her and say,

"You, come and help me," it's this

really validating moment for her.

And she gets to stretch her wings

and really live out this dream.

It was so fun for me just because I love Holly Hunter

so much, and to share this moment with her, you know,

having two female superheroes in this big sequence

together felt very cool.

I'm looking for all kinds of things, you know?

For me, it's really story specific,

and so whether that's stories about women

that I don't think have been told,

stories about incredible groups of people

I don't think have been told,

animated stories that just feel fun, you know,

that's a world that I'm exploring.

I'm reading a lot of animated scripts right now,

and it's work, but it really feels like play.

And the whole thing has just been

a really interesting endeavor, you know,

I took a solid chunk of time off to just be for a second,

because I've never done that.

And now, getting back into that sort of process

of working and looking at it from the other side

feels very cool.

Inside the Nose of an Elephant | ScienceTake - Duration: 2:31.

[music]

[sniffing]

There are noses and then, there are noses.

And for sense of smell, the biggest is one of the best.

Elephants use their noses for lots of things —

finding mates, identifying family members, and probably

most important, finding food.

They're good.

They can find food very far away.

But how good?

To find out, researchers set up two experiments.

To test smell at close range, they used two buckets.

One had a plant that elephants enjoy and the other, a plant

that smelled similar, but that elephants don't like.

The elephants easily detected the subtle differences

between the two plants by smell alone.

Then the researchers tried the same kind of test

on a larger scale.

They built an outdoor elephant-size version

of the classic Y maze.

Think laboratory mice sniffing for cheese.

This was a more difficult problem.

Sniff out the subtle difference

between two similar plants at a distance —

no problem for the elephants.

Now, it may seem obvious that elephants can sniff out

the foods that they like, but the differences

between these plants are very subtle,

and the plants are far away.

"We can smell when our neighbor

puts on the steak on the barbecue next door.

They're doing this throughout their entire environment,

across multiple spatial scales, for things that

don't smell very strongly."

It turns out elephants are actually smell champions.

Like other mammals, including humans,

they have scent receptors that register

molecules in air they inhale.

The brain's olfactory bulb picks up

signals from those receptors.

Elephants have more scent receptors

and a bigger olfactory bulb than any other mammal.

And there's that trunk, which serves as a movable smell

antenna, which can go under a log or into the wind.

Their noses are so good that they help them

avoid minefields in Angola.

In fact, tests showed that they can detect TNT.

[bell ringing]

And one study showed that the elephants could use scent

clues alone to detect the difference between two Kenyan

tribes: the Maasai, who traditionally speared them,

and the Kamba, who didn't.

Bomb detector, human sorter, food finder —

that's quite a nose.

'Hot Dogs & Caviar' 🌭Episode 1 | Basic to Bougie | MTV - Duration: 7:12.

- [Crew Member] Sound speed, quiet on set, please.

- Yo, what's up y'all? I'm Timothy DeLaGhetto

(Darren screams)

- I'm Darren "Big Baby" Brand.

- And you are watching Basic to Bougie.

- No, Basic to Bougie.

- Basic to Bougie.

- God.

- Where we prove that even the

the most basic food can be bougie.

- Or, that the most bougie food can be basic.

- Mmm

(hip-hop beat)

- [Timothy] We are gonna be trying three different

versions of each dish and seeing if we can determine

which one is the cheapest and

which one is the most expensive.

- I'm on it today, bro. I'm ready to eat.

So we don't know what we about to eat, okay.

And now, I'm putting my faith in these

white folks behind the camera with these foods.

- Sometimes you just gotta trust the white people, man.

- You trust the seasoning?

(Vivaldi's Four Seasons)

- Blindfold, put it on.

- We're gonna have one bougie option and one basic option,

- [Darren] Okay.

- So we don't know which is which.

- (clears throat) Butler!

Remember, he's white. De'Quan!

- Colonizer!

(both laugh)

- [Darren] Is the butler here? Did he go?

Gimme some of that, bro. My boy.

You take it off.

(drum roll)

Tim, why do I feel your hand immediately?

- Chill out, bro.

- Why are you already on my side?

- Chill out, dog.

- Oh, that's so inappropriate. That's a hot dog.

(ding)

- Hold up, I haven't touched anything

- Here, take this.

- Don't put the wiener in my hand like that.

(Darren laughs)

- Oh, what is it. Oh, wait. It's caviar.

(ding)

- (Darren screeches) Ew!

(upbeat horn music)

- [Timothy] So we're gonna try and determine which

is the cheapest and which is the most expensive.

- Is hot dogs basic?

- Depends on your kind of hot dog, you know?

- [Darren] I don't know--

- [Timothy] All wieners are different.

Where should we start?

- [Darren] We're definitely going with the cookout,

- [Timothy] Right off the bat.

- [Darren] the great value pack.

This is definitely the cheapest.

- [Timothy] Oh this is like a baby deer hot dog,

you know what I'm saying, they're trying

to throw us off our game right now.

I'm not mad but this is definitely the cheapest.

- Cheap.

- I'm gonna go with the one with all the jalapenos on it.

Is this Hawaiian bread? Oh my god, it's on Hawaiian bread.

- [Darren] Most expensive, hands down, right there.

- This looks like food truck (bleep),

you know what I'm saying?

Food truck (bleep) is expensive.

- I don't even think that's a hot dog,

that look like sausage.

- Yeah, exactly.

- That's not regular sauce either,

that's some kind of special made sauce.

- They put love into this.

- Did you save the biggest wiener for last?

(both laugh)

- [Timothy] Let's see, a bunch of onions, grilled onions,

some green peppers, red peppers.

- [Darren] I'm not fooled by this,

I'm gonna say this is second.

- [Timothy] You haven't even tasted it.

Oh, it's mushrooms in here, though.

Got a good snap to it.

- Got a deep crunch on that.

- Mmhmm, that's good.

- That is good!

(Darren belches)

(both laugh)

Boy! I had to let that out so I could continue to eat.

- Which one did you burp up right now?

- I think all three came up, do you know what I mean?

My breathing went off a little bit.

- I was like, "Oh".

(Darren grunts)

- This is gonna come out tough later.

All this we doing to ourselves now

is gonna come out tough later.

- [Timothy] What's the cheapest?

Which is the most expensive?

- [Darren] Plain American hot dog, the cookout hot dog.

- [Timothy] Cheapest?

- [Darren] Cheapest.

- [Timothy] The sausage link, the Hawaiian bread?

- [Darren] That's the most expensive.

- [Timothy] Yeah, most expensive and most delicious.

- Do we have another one of these, for back up?

Just in case this one don't, don't work out?

- Let's see the cards.

- De'Quan!

- Jeffery!

- Why do you keep changing the names?

Get up in there, bro.

- All right, here's the verdict.

The fast food hot dog: One dollar.

The loaded hot dog with mushrooms, mozzarella, tomatoes,

bacon, and onions...

- [Darren] Bam!

- [Timothy] Eight dollars.

And, the gourmet hot dog, bacon wrapped--

Oh, it was bacon wrapped!

Bacon wrapped, caramelized onions,

chipotle aioli pickled jalapenos, cotija cheese...

- [Darren] 17 dollars.

- [Timothy] 17 dollars.

- [Darren] Come on, man.

- We know our wieners.

- All right, man.

(Timothy laughs)

- Hey!

(Vivaldi's Four Seasons)

- All right, now it's time for the bougie part.

We're gonna try and compare this caviar.

Darren, you eat a lot of caviar?

I'm gonna take that as a no.

If you eat the eggs of other animals, bro,

it makes you more powerful.

- Who told you that?

- My mom.

(Darren scoffs)

Let's try it together.

- The two blacks look the same.

- I'm gonna go on--

don't be racist.

- I'm not racist, but I'm saying the two black kinds--

- [Timothy] They do look exactly the same.

(both laugh)

- [Darren] Little known history fact, did you know that

you not supposed to eat this with metal spoons?

Because it messes up the flavor.

- Really?

- Yeah, actually dude behind the camera told me that.

- Oh, get your scoop on the left.

- I got my scoop.

- Get a scoop.

- Throw it in there?

- Yeah, yeah. Let's toast, cheers.

(hip-hop beat)

(Darren slams table)

- It just tastes like little balls of tuna.

You're not feeling that?

- The texture's so crazy! It bursts in your mouth,

like little burst bubbles, like do-do-do-do. No!

- You got a flavor?

- Salty.

- MmHmm. I think they're all gonna be kind of salty.

- I think this came from a river.

- Possibly.

- Why is that one green?

(Darren coughs)

I don't give a (bleep) about this round.

- [Timothy] This kind of tastes familiar though,

what kind of fish is it though?

- Yo, This one's nasty. This is last.

Last one.

- [Timothy] Okay, let's get it.

- Oh, god, bro. The green one's still sitting in there.

- This is a--

- [Darren] Go ahead.

- It's nice. Bouncy.

- Got crunch. I heard the crunch.

Did that crunch?

- I kind of like that a lot.

I'm (bleep) with that.

- You know what order I'm putting these (bleep) in?

- Hmm?

- I. Don't. Know.

(Vivaldi's Four Seasons)

How do you pick this order?

- I don't know how to compare caviar, though,

but I'm gonna just go with what I like.

I definitely like the blacks more, most expensive.

- [Darren] Yeah, of course you do.

- Of course, Wakanda Forever.

- [Timothy] The green guy--

- [Darren] Disgusting, cheapest.

- [Timothy] Cheapest to me because it just tasted like--

- And it didn't have any--

- It wasn't popping.

- [Darren] Yeah.

De'Quan!

- Round two.

- Hey, what's up? Love you boy.

(Timothy clears throat)

Okay, here we go.

- So the Lumpfish roe,

- Hello!

- was the cheapest one, that's five dollars.

Oh my god, I was totally wrong.

(both groan)

Sturgeon roe, 25 dollars, which one is that?

25 dollars number two.

So green guy, Paddlefish roe--

- [Darren] The ones we hated.

- [Timothy] Most expensive, 100 dollars!

Damn!

The Untold Truth Of Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown - Duration: 4:33.

There are travel shows, and then there is CNN's Parts Unknown.

Hosted by late author and chef Anthony Bourdain, Parts Unknown took cameras to places no one

else was exploring, and along the way, Bourdain met some incredible people, tried a lot of

amazing food, and uncovered some truly moving stories.

He made it a point to not only introduce his fans and foodie followers to the cuisine and

culture of these oft-overlooked lands, but also to humanize the faces behind the headlines.

Here are a few things you may not known about Parts Unknown.

It started in Lebanon

When most people think of Lebanon or its capital city Beirut, they likely think of a place

torn apart by relentless war and strife.

Bourdain saw something else, writing in 2015:

"[Beirut] is a beautiful city, with layers of scars the locals have ceased to even notice.

It's a place with tremendous heart.

[...] It defies logic.

It defies expectations.

It is amazing."

He was there in 2006 for his Emmy-winning Travel Channel show No Reservations, and so

was Kim Ghattas.

Then a BBC correspondent, Ghattas says filming the show as war broke out in the region was

a turning point for Bourdain.

It was there that he decided to start telling the stories of the people he saw behind the

front lines, those just trying to get on with their lives against a terrifying backdrop

of conflict.

The seeds of Parts Unknown were planted, and it's why Bourdain later decided to visit places

like Gaza, Libya, Cuba, and Haiti, and focus on more than just food ...

"It gave us license, for better or worse, to wander a little further, and then, of course,

later CNN gave us license to wander away completely whenever we wanted."

Helping a jailed journalist

In 2014, Bourdain interviewed Washington Post reporter Jason Rezaian and his wife, journalist

Yeganeh Salehi, for an episode on Iran.

It was only a few weeks later that CNN reported both journalists had been arrested, and while

Salehi was released quickly, Rezaian spent the next two years in jail facing espionage

charges.

Bourdain continued to advocate for him during his confinement, and he was ultimately released

as part of a prisoner exchange.

Rezaian later lauded Bourdain for putting a face to those who were struggling against

oppression, and credits the interview he did for Parts Unknown as opening the door that

allowed other news outlets to cover his detainment.

Blending in

Bourdain revealed to People magazine in early 2018 that there were only seven people in

the field producing Parts Unknown, himself included, and each episode was filmed over

the course of 10 days.

In order to put everyone at ease and help people get over the fact there was a camera

crew in their midst, everyone would join in the drinking, the carousing, and the conversation.

Bourdain told People the strategy was to make the crew blend in:

"Everyone should think of these crew guys as, at worst, an annoying relative with a

camera.

Not as an invading army from outside."

Animal cruelty accusations

In 2015, thousands of animal lovers signed a petition to cancel Parts Unknown because

of graphic images of animals being slaughtered.

The petition specifically called out a few scenes, including the slow decapitation of

a camel and the death throes of a deer.

Those weren't the only scenes people had problems with, either.

In 2016, Mercy for Animals condemned Bourdain for eating rabbit heads and joking about a

Sichuan dish made by tearing out a living duck's intestines.

"But it's a bit cruel, right?"

"Well, you want 'em fresh, Eric."

Last Chance for Animals also started a petition against Parts Unknown, for scenes like the

one in Hawaii, where Bourdain started chewing on a live octopus in order to kill it.

Supporters condemned him for not only showing the scenes, but for joking about the suffering

he was catching on camera.

Bourdain responded to the complaints, telling Eater,

"Contrary to what some may say, I do not enjoy seeing the death of any living thing.

I do not promote animal cruelty.

But I think people should know where meat comes from, and knowing, they should feel

free to decide what they do from there."

No retirement

You might think that after visiting so many places and traveling so much, Anthony Bourdain

would have been looking forward to wrapping up his time on Parts Unknown and switching

gears.

But he told People less than a month before his death that he had no plans to retire or

to end the show.

Some of the episodes hadn't even aired yet, and while he did say he always enjoyed the

days he spent at home - and noted that he especially loved the sound of doing laundry

- he had no plans to quit the show.

"I just think I'm too nervous, neurotic, driven.

I would have had a different answer a few years ago.

I might have deluded myself into thinking that I'd be happy in a hammock or gardening.

But no, I'm quite sure I can't.

I'm going to pretty much die in the saddle."

Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK.

Who's Really Making Money Off Fake News? - Duration: 12:01.

So-called fake news

can have real-world consequences…

This is an arms race.

They're going to keep getting better at this,

and we need to invest in keeping on

getting better at this, too.

How much responsibility does Facebook have

for the content on the platform?

So Facebook knew that this was happening,

and you're saying that they were profiting?

I'm Ahmed Shihab-Eldin,

and this is a story about fake news

and the people profiting from it.

In the three months leading up to the 2016 U.S. election,

viral fake news stories generated more total

engagement on Facebook than those from the top

19 major news outlets combined.

Some of these fake stories came from an unlikely place

-- the Republic of North Macedonia,

a country of about two million people

just north of Greece.

There's all these stories about guys over in Macedonia

who are running these fake news sites.

We found a lot of different accounts

coming from Macedonia.

Hundreds of pro-Trump websites

popped up all over the country.

And teenagers

– particularly in one poor former factory town –

purportedly made millions by duping American news consumers

on social media sites like Facebook.

I came to Macedonia to find out what the fake news

industry here is like

amid a tech industry crackdown

and reports that trolls are already preparing

to cash in on the next U.S. elections.

Saska Cvetkovska is an investigative journalist in Skopje,

Macedonia's capital.

She says it's not a coincidence that

Macedonia has become one of the world's

fake news hubs.

It has a young, tech-savvy population,

an unemployment rate of over 20 percent

and the recently ousted government

regularly blasted fake news through state-run media.

She is investigating who is funding the fake news

factories in the country.

At the center of Macedonia's fake news industry

is a man named Mirko Ceselkoski.

He calls himself an Internet marketing consultant

and Facebook strategist,

though he's been referred to as a clickbait coach.

He says he's taught over a thousand young people here how to make content for an American audience.

You refer to yourself as the man who accidentally

helped Donald Trump win the U.S. election.

Mirko started making money on the Internet

in the early 2000s by writing stories about yachts

and muscle cars.

He insists it was purely by accident

that his students stumbled upon the money pot

that is U.S. partisan politics.

Here's how this works: Create a simple website

through a site like WordPress.

Choose a domain name that sounds like a mainstream

American news organization.

Copy and paste stories from alt-right sites

like Breitbart and InfoWars.

Then create or buy Facebook profiles, pages and likes.

When readers click through from Facebook to the websites,

they're hit with dozens of ads.

With each click, the ad revenue begins pouring in

through automated advertising engines,

like Google AdSense.

The secret ingredients for a viral hit:

Did your students know much about the U.S.

or U.S. politics before they started writing these stories?

From America.

Mirko says his students often hire freelance writers

in the United States through websites like Upwork.

That's a lot of money.

Do you feel that there's a moral or ethical concern

to be making money off of convincing millions

of Americans that something is real,

that can then affect how they vote?

Facebook's crackdown on fake news

has been bad for business here.

In 2020 for example,

there's another huge election in America.

You think there will be people doing the same thing?

After meeting Mirko,

I traveled to a small town that has become the epicenter

of the fake news industry here.

I'm here in Veles, Macedonia,

a former factory town where young people,

if they're lucky to have a job at all,

rarely earn over 300 Euros a month,

but where fake news factories

are now making some of them very rich.

I'm on my way to meet a young man named "Boris"

who has learned from Mirko's methods

and works in a content factory along with 20 others.

We weren't invited inside.

Instead, he agreed to meet me at an Internet café.

Boris has asked that we conceal his identity

because he's afraid of legal action from the U.S.

He didn't want to share

just how much money he's made,

worried it might reveal his identity.

Generally you work at night, right?

What do you think about these Americans

who were reading all this fake news,

the stuff you were publishing?

And how did you know what Americans wanted?

What Boris told me next caught me by surprise.

So Facebook knew that this was happening?

Boris is saying that in the days before the election,

the price for promoting content that was pro-Trump

on the pages he was managing

dropped significantly,

so he went all in to heavily promote Trump.

What are your plans in the next election?

My time in Macedonia left me with a lot of questions.

so I returned to the U.S. in search of answers.

We came here to Facebook's headquarters

to find out what went wrong in the 2016 elections

and what their plans are to protect the integrity

of future elections in the U.S. and abroad.

Monika Bickert is head of content policy at Facebook.

This is definitely an area where we've made mistakes

and where we're investing a lot in getting better.

If you look back to 2016,

for instance, our tools that identify fake accounts

weren't as good then as they are now.

We've come across a lot of accounts

that are Macedonian and Russian accounts

that seem dubious to us

throughout the reporting process but they're still active.

We won't always be perfect

but I can tell you it's absolutely a priority

to proactively find and remove those types of accounts.

In the lead-up to the French

and German elections in 2017,

Facebook removed tens of thousands of fake accounts.

But the company announced recently

that there may be as many as 87 million fake accounts

still on the platform.

Facebook is hiring thousands of people

to review content, developing artificial intelligence

to detect fake news and accounts,

and trying to contextualize articles

that have been flagged as potential fakes

so users can decide for themselves.

What would you say to American Facebook users

who are concerned about fake news

and how it might influence the midterm elections?

Facebook certainly has a role to play

in removing inauthentic actors,

fake accounts, people who are intentionally

sharing disinformation to sow discord.

At the same time,

there's also more than we can be doing as a society

to identify when something is likely fake.

I asked her about Boris's allegations

that Facebook was profiting off of content like his.

He claims that Facebook knew,

whether it was an algorithm's decision or a human's,

that the price was all of a sudden dramatically cheaper

to promote Trump content.

Well, for advertising prices,

I'd have to follow up with you on

exactly how we set those.

But we didn't receive an explanation on the record

from the company,

despite repeated attempts to obtain one.

Former Facebook employee Antonio Garcia-Martinez

has his own take on Boris's claims.

He was a product manager who helped develop the

platform's advertising side and left the company in 2013.

What do you make of that,

because it can be coincidence…

It may not be. It may not be.

If you employ a certain inflammatory rhetoric

that gets people engaged with your thing,

then your net media cost will be lower.

That is how Facebook is designed to work.

But it's kind of problematic.

Right … they didn't come up with this.

Google does the same thing.

But yeah, in this context, I think you're right,

that maybe it is problematic, yes.

It seems like everyone benefited that was in that game.

That's right. That's right. As did the Trump campaign.

Antonio is critical of the company's early attempts

to minimize the fake news problem.

Personally, I think the idea that

fake news on Facebook influenced

the election in any way I think is a pretty crazy idea.

To discard the possibility that Facebook could actually

swing the election so quickly is obviously really

disingenuous and, frankly not true.

Why?

So literally until like 72 hours before the election,

there was a huge political ads sales force, which Facebook has,

telling every politician with a marketing budget

exactly the opposite,

that Facebook could deliver them the election.

Antonio says that the reason this matters comes down to a simple but fundamental question.

How much responsibility does Facebook have

for the content on the platform?

That really is the big question.

So how does the company fix this problem?

Trillion dollar question.

I don't know, and I don't think Facebook

knows the answer to it, either.

In his recent Senate hearing,

Mark Zuckerberg addressed the challenge of staying

ahead of fake news before it impacts future elections.

This is an arms race, right?

I mean, they're going to keep on getting better at this,

and we need to invest in

keeping on getting better at this, too.

Hey, It's Ahmed,

so as you just saw, some fake news producers

are financially motivated,

but others have political ends in sight.

Be sure to check out this video,

we did an interview with an investigative journalist

in Russia who went under cover in a troll farm.

How Do Hydrangeas Change Colors? - Duration: 5:52.

Thanks to CuriosityStream for supporting PBS Digital Studios.

Hey so remember that time in the 3rd grade when you drowned a carnation in food coloring

and... this happened ? We're about to try something similar...but not.

This experiment shows that carnations take up water and whatever's dissolved in it,

which is cool.

But what if we switch out the carnations for some hydrangeas, and instead of food coloring,

use this completely colorless solution.

Will they change color?

But why would they?

Hydrangeas have an unusual property.

Their blossoms can change color depending on the pH of the soil they're planted in.

Acidic soil grows blue flowers, while more basic soil grows red ones -- and borderline

conditions turn out purple.

By the way, before we go any further I am contractually obligated by all botanists in

the world to tell you that these things that look like petals -- they're not actually

petals, they're sepals -- same as the little star-shaped thing at the base of a rosebud.

OK, so anyway: You can change the color of a hydrangea's sepals in your garden by adjusting

the soil pH.

You can add stuff like garden sulfur to lower the pH and get bluer blossoms, or you can

add stuff like calcium hydroxide to raise the pH and get redder blossoms.

But it's not the pH that's making the color change -- not directly.

See, soil contains some aluminum.

Which is not that surprising since the Earth's crust is full of it.

In acidic soils, that aluminum dissolved in the water in the soil, so it's in its ionic

form.

This dissolved Al3+ is toxic to plants; it can be taken up by the roots and damage the

plants.

To avoid that damage, some plants, including hydrangeas, secrete chemicals into the soil

that can bind to that Al3+ -- in this case, citric acid.

That citric acid forms a complex with the Al3+ and that complex is not toxic.

Now I know, his seems like it has nothing to do with color.

But stick with me.

If the soil is neutral or basic, the aluminum binds to hydroxide ions, forming solid aluminum

hydroxide.

Unlike aluminum citrate, aluminum hydroxide cannot enter the plant's roots.

So, quick recap: Hydrangeas in acidic soil take up aluminum, though they have to detoxify

it.

Hydrangeas in basic soil don't have to deal with aluminum at all.

Store that in your memory banks, it's gonna be important in about 15 seconds.

But in the meantime, let's talk about why pink hydrangeas are pink in the first place.

This pink -- or red, if you like -- is actually a type of anthocyanin -- a family of pigments

found in tons of plants from grapes to berries to eggplants.

This particular one is called delphinidin-o-glucoside.

In basic soil, where hydrangeas -- remember -- don't take up aluminum, delphinidin-o-glucoside

takes this form (flavylium cation).

Let's call it red version.

It reflects red light, which means to our eyes, it has a red color.

But in acidic soil, where aluminum citrate does get taken up by the roots, red version

binds to the aluminum ion, loses a few hydrogens and shifts a few double bonds, and gets a

new name...which we'll call blue version.

Those rearrangements mean it now reflects blue light instead of red… and voila, blue

sepals.

Now that seems complicated, but… it's actually even more complicated in real life.

The blue you're seeing is blue version, but it's stabilized by a bunch of buddies

called co-pigments.

While scientists aren't sure exactly how they all interact, they do know that blue

version is the main source of the color.

So all this means that the color of hydrangea sepals depends on how much aluminum the plant

can take up through its roots.

Sepals that contain less than 10 micrograms of aluminum per gram are red.

Over 40 micrograms per gram are blue, and in between gives you purple.

The complex of aluminum with blue version is very stable.

And it's been speculated that complexing toxic aluminum in its sepals like this is

the plant's way of preventing damage to itself from free aluminum in the soil: first

transporting it using citrate, then using the pigments to safely tuck it away.

Changing the soil pH in your garden can take about a year.

But some scientists who published their work in a 2011 paper in the journal Biometals found

a way to speed up the color change by a lot.

They incubated cut hydrangeas in a solution of aluminum and buffered citric acid, and

they were able to turn red hydrangeas blue in just a couple of days.

Now, when we read this paper, we thought, well, we have to do this on camera.

So we got in touch with the researchers and tried to replicate their experiment and…

We managed to get a tinge of blue around the edges of the sepals before our flowers died.

Yeah these results are pretty underwhelming.

So like good scientists should, we went back to the drawing board... and we'll tell you

all about that in part 2, so come back in a couple weeks to see if we pull it off.

Expectation Drawing on the Gift - Duration: 42:09.

As we get into the word this morning let's pray father thank you for this

opportunity that we have to be together I think if for these men and women that

are here today and within the sound of my voice thank you for a spirit of

wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of you thank you Father that you open

the eyes of our heart our spirit man that we would know you better that we

would be able to accurately represent you in the world that we live in today

and Lord that we would walk out the plans and purposes that you have for

each and every one of our lives father let us not be distracted with the things

of the world and the things that happen in the earth but let us keep our focus

and our attention upon you walking fully in the plans and the purposes that you

have for us so that we may celebrate with the multitudes that are coming into

heaven because of our obedience thank you Father

there are people waiting for our obedience thank you father there are

those that sit in darkness that need a light and I thank you for those in this

congregation that will go to those places of darkness and shine for Jesus

help us to shine for you Lord help our light to be bright in this dark and

sinful world let us represent you in the earth so holy spirit open our eyes open

our ears help us to be doers of the word and not hearers only in the name of

Jesus and everybody said amen amen now I'm holding this some some

prophecies I know over the last few well a number of months and years actually

we've had different prophecies that have been spoken out over new creation Church

some of you have those copies some of you asked for them some of you like to

review them and how many of you know it's important the Bible says in first

Timothy chapter 1 verse 18 Timothy Paul said Timothy my son here are my

instructions for you based on the prophetic words spoken about you earlier

may they help you fight well in the Lord's battles now let me just say this

real quick first and foremost God has given you and me his word amen we

have his word his word is a sword his word on our tongue and in our mouth

released against the powers of darkness effects brings defeat to them not us

it's the Word of God but we speak the word we stand upon the word now at some

times in our life maybe God would choose to encourage us with a prophetic word

maybe somebody gives a word from the platform and they just speak it out and

you say man that's for me well you grab a hold of that word and as it says in

1st Timothy chapter 1 verse 18 you can fight well in the Lord's battles because

that word came to encourage you now let me just say this how many of you know

that we're not to seek prophetic words I'm a little concerned sometimes in

different places of the America and different things happening in different

churches where where people will say we've got this group of people here and

you just come forward and we're going to give you a word that's dangerous because

sometimes people get words that they just they're they're just oh they're

like that the baby bird that just opens its mouth and the nest as soon as

there's any fluttering around because they think Mama's come in to drop a worm

and feed them but how many of you know sometimes you open your mouth and it's

not necessarily going to be something from God you be careful amen

if things don't confirm or bear witness with your spirit you just need to set

that on the side amen how do you know the scripture says in

the book of Romans chapter 8 this is not in my notes so this is for someone here

so how many of you know the scripture says in the book of Romans chapter 8 as

many as are led by the Spirit of God these are the sons of God amen so we're

not to be led by prophecy oh I got to have a prophetic word I have to have

somebody tell me what you get in the presence of God you pray and the Holy

Ghost and let God give you the direction that you need amen and if he chooses he

can choose someone 1/2 they come alongside and they can say you know I've

been praying and this is what God I seem to think God is saying to me for you and

and if it confirms what God has put in your heart already glow

but so many people get into trouble so many people get messed up because

they're looking for someone else to give them word they don't want to take the

time to get in the presence of God and hear from themselves they want somebody

else just to tell tell me what to do tell me what to do you get in the

presence of God and God will tell you what to do amen

praise God that was worth the price of admission right there all right now go

with me because we talked about prophecy so here's one of the gals in the church

has been praying and this is a letter that she sent to me just this last week

and she said Sunday Saturday morning I was praying in the Lord Lord gave me the

word catalyst regarding pastor Hagen's meetings I knew that a catalyst speeded

up the rate of a chemical reaction but I looked it up in the Webster's dictionary

to be precise number one a substance that enables a chemical reaction to

proceed at a usually faster or under different conditions otherwise possible

isn't that good catalyst an agent that provokes or speeds significant change or

action the Lord showed me that the Hagin meetings are the catalyst for the

prophecy given by Daniel Eric groves on June 25th 2017 I've been reading that

prophecy often since I was given it and it just keeps getting stronger and

stronger on the inside amen that's an encouraging word so how many of you know

you can take a prophecy that lines up now God gives us prophecies as a church

God gives us prophecies as individuals so you can take when a prophecy comes

how many of you know prophecy mainly comes to give edification exhortation

and comfort to the body of Christ that's 1st Corinthians chapter 14

so when prophecy comes that's what it's for to ill edify you build you up

encourage you comfort you sometimes God doesn't but here's the problem sometimes

people like to do this they like to say Oh God give me a word give me a word I

always like to say this don't ever pray that because if God gives you a word it

means you're gonna need it it might mean there's some rough sailing ahead so he's

going to give you a word ahead of time you know so some

time's ministers come sometimes a word of knowledge is manifest and and and so

some you know maybe a minister will call somebody out or they'll say I I see the

Lord is healing this person or they're doing this or that and then all of a

sudden people are like and I remember brother Hagin talking about this years

and years and years ago as a prophet because he stood in the office of

Prophet and and he said people are drawing on me he began to prophesy and

so people started oh give me a word give me a word they weren't saying it out

loud they were thinking it with their mind and he was sensitive to a

sensitivity enough to the Holy Spirit that he knew they were looking to a man

they weren't looking to God so if a word comes to someone don't say Oh give me a

word I hope God gives me a word I hope God gives me a word because if he does

it might be because you're gonna need it and if you start drawing the wrong way

you're looking at the man or the woman whose ministry that gets your eyes off

of God so keep your eyes on him and say Lord I'm just here I'm enjoying your

presence if there's something you want to say to me glory if not I'm just happy

just be happy amen you know Wednesday night here's here's

an example here this was awesome Wednesday night during our adventures in

prayer time we had a time of Prayer and then at the end of prayer we asked you

know does anybody have anything to share picking up anything in the spirit or

maybe a scripture sometimes folks give a scripture sometimes folks give a a

prophecy and so we were almost done where I was writing down different

things people were saying and different scriptures people were sharing and and

one of the ladies in the back Cheryl and she was sitting in the back and so she

raises her hand and she says I think I have something and so she says I just

think I feel like the Lord is saying the Lord is healing somebody here of a

bladder infection and so I looked around and I just said does that speak to

anybody and one of the other ladies across the room said yeah that would be

me I was like praise God and she had a

sense in her spirit that God was going to say something to her confirming the

healing working in her body so God used that to do what to encourage her to

bless her - just to let her know she was on the right track amen

and God used another person to just say I just have a sense that God is healing

somebody it can be that simple amen praise God so that was that one now

in dumb in nineteen let me just read another one to you real

quick and then I'll give you the title of my message but in 1997 t4 1974 when

when Kenneth E Hagin was here so that would be the father of Kenneth W Hagin

who's coming tonight so dad Hagin started Rhema Bible College

Rhema Bible school back then turned into Rhema Bible College and so one of the

things that he said while he was here he said and there shall come revelation for

this life according to the word concerning the miraculous in the part

that faith has played for faith is like the fuse that ignites the dynamite and

when the explosion goes off all can hear but there was a fuse that had to be lit

and faith is the fuse now I share that with you this morning because the title

of my message is how to get the most out of church okay that's one title the

title that I sent Charles for the screen and for you version is expectation or

drawing everybody say drawing dry not not this

kind of drawing with your hand on a page or an artist type of deal drawing

Hungary for the gift that God brings to us

through ministry okay and and so with pastor Hagin coming tonight and we have

Christopher alam many of you remember christopher alam who who does many

crusades in in africa and india he just sent us a note about some tremendous

moves of god in mozambique and so he's coming in september and so i just sense

that we just needed to talk about that drawing on the gift not for us

personally oh god give me a word god give me a word god help me god no but

let's take the place in the position of lord we're a hungry for you to work and

move as you desire amen now the scripture says in Isaiah chapter 49

verse 23 and I'm gonna read from the amplified it says you shall know that I

am the Lord for they shall not be put to shame who wait for look for hope for and

everybody say expect expect me you shall know that I'm the Lord for they shall

not be put to shame listen you will not be put to shame as you wait upon the

Lord and that's not just kind of waiting twiddling your thumbs amen

it's waiting in faith it's waiting expectantly are you expectant Kristen

our daughter is home for the summer before she gets married in October and

she brought her cat with her and she's really a cute cat if anybody wants a cat

you can talk to my daughter after the service because she's not gonna leave

her with mom and dad because we don't want to keep the cat but she's really

cute she's really nice we travel too much and we we're gone too much and it

just wouldn't be fair so if any of you are interested is that good can I do

that honey I put a plug in for she's not here so

you all walk up to her and say I heard your dad's trying to get rid of your cat

no anyway she's supposed to find a home for her before October when she gets

married so anyway maybe some of you she's really a sweet lots of personality

she's a great cat she really is and so there's a point to this there really is

Stacey has gotten used to the cat likes yogurt Greek yogurt expensive fog a

yogurt so in the morning and in the evening sometimes now Stacey will have

cottage cheese in the morning and so she you know how those containers sound when

you take the lid off wherever the cat is when that lid comes off of either the

cottage cheese or the yogurt she comes a-runnin and she sits by this little

island and she kind of peeks around the corner and she's licking her chops her

tongue is going and then she starts meowing and then the conversation has to

start of course Stacey has to either say you want yogurt and

she's like meowing and meowing and there's this whole little ritual that

goes on and then Stacey goes over to the stairs and sits on the stairs and the

cat stands up on her hind legs it's really cute we should put it on you

version sometime you know you really like it or she's having cottage cheese

she's asked to have this no this is not yogurt yeah no this is not yogurt you

can't hit it's not time for yogurt and this whole conversation goes on so I

said all that to say the cat when she hears that lid come off of the yogurt

she's expecting something she's like give me some yogurt she's ready her

tongue is going her meows are going she's running around in circles not

running but she's going in circles and then they go over the little staircase

and they have their deal so she's expecting are you expecting this morning

I said what's the purpose of that well when you come into the presence of God

do you expect something or do you just kind of well I just want that's gonna

happen when we go to church today you know I wonder if the pastor's gonna be

on or not is the worship gonna be on or not as this person good yeah are you

coming expected the word expectation means to look forward to consider

probable look forward to consider probable expect also means anticipate it

means hope it means optimism now I don't know about you but the opposite of

expect is doubt fear or worry Wow so first what are you expecting for your

life you know are you one of those that the glasses always half-empty are you

one of those who's the pessimist or are you an optimist now of course our

optimism isn't just you know I'm gonna think positive and think positive and

it's all because of me it's knowing who our trust in faith is in and the

expectation comes from him amen we know we're looking to him the Father of

lights that the one who who gives us good things who has a good plan and a

good future and a hope for our lives amen so there's an expectation that

comes oh we need to have an expectation to move from sickness to health

expectation that says we're going to move from poverty to provision there's

an expectation that comes it knows that we know we're going to move from

confusion to peace from not knowing what to do to being filled with the wisdom of

God's understanding and direction for our life to know that he's directing and

ordering our steps there's an expectation are you expecting this

morning what are you expecting this morning I guess that's a good question

what are you expecting this morning we find lots of places in the Bible how

many of you know the Bible is good because it's got good stories and bad

stories it's got good things and bad things it's got the mistakes that people

made but it also has the mercy of God and it has situations and circumstances

that people were in that might not have looked very good but the Bible says

their hope their faith their expectation was in God and he came on the scene and

he was able to turn those hopeless looking situations and circumstances

around amen hallelujah he'll turn things around for you you need to expect that

you need to expect that you know know you need to know the scriptures that

says I will do a new thing I will bring it to pass because it's my will so as we

talk about these meetings coming up tonight when tomorrow and Tuesday with

Pastor Hagin and Lynette I hope when you come it's not just well we just have to

go to these meetings as pastor really is encouraging us to come I pray that you

come expecting God different words that have spent spoken over our church now

things like this happen on Sunday morning but they can also happen when

different gifts how many of you know the Bible says in the book of Ephesians

chapter 4 that Jesus gave gifts to the church give gifts gifts to men and the

Bible says apostles prophets evangelists pastors and teachers are gifts they are

ministry gifts so when a ministry gift comes pastor comes special guests come

evangelists come apostles come we don't always make a big deal out of naming

okay now no profit so-and-so is coming or

evangelist so-and-so is coming and an apostle so-and-so is coming

I like what brother Hagin used to say he used to say the proof of the pudding is

in the eating Amen you don't have to you don't have to

be so focused on all these titles and just watch what they do and you know

yeah they stand in that office amen so even the office of Pastor there's a

feeding there's a shepherding that happens well how many of you know we can

expect God to increase these gifts that come to us not just for us

but because of what it does in us to help the kingdom of God expand all right

and so how many of you know and I think I might these are in my notes and I

think I came across these from mark Hankins but if you google if you google

expectancy or Expecting there's all kinds of different

psychological terms and there's a whole bunch of different things you know for

expecting but I think it was mark Hankins who broke them down into these

five things so I'm just going to give you these real quick this morning cuz

there's a lot of different things you can look at four types of expectations

but number one if you're taking notes negative expectancy how many know

there's a negative people can be negative people with a negative

expectancy think if it can go wrong it will go wrong at the worst possible time

I mentioned earlier they're called pessimists they say that's just the way

it is with me it always happens to me that way I knew the stake would get

burned it always happens I knew there'd be a problem with this dress it's always

something to make my life difficult now nobody in here has ever said that I'm

sure I call it the Eeyore syndrome how many of you remember Winnie the Pooh I

said I should have gotten a clip of Eeyore and had him talk this morning

well nothing ever goes right for me how there's some believers that are out

there that have watched too much Winnie the Pooh and picked up too much on

Eeyore instead of winning winning is positive and just carefree and let's

just life is good when he just loves everything even when bees are chasing

him when he's full of honey all right sometimes people win there when the

phone rings the first thing they do is they're expecting bad news

while the phone's ringing bad news no that's negative expectancy the problem

with that is it feeds on fear fear work somebody of you know fear works the same

way that faith does you attract with your faith you attract things from God

if you're studying the word and speaking the word and standing on the word you're

you're drawing that which God has spoken and declared and decreed into your life

it's like a magnet well I mean if you know there's a lot of people with a

negative expectancy that they draw that negative stuff to him all the time

you got to break out of that this morning

today you've got to turn that around by saying that's it no more negative I'm

expecting God to work in my life they say oh it doesn't look like it right now

it looks pretty terrible right now it looks pretty hopeless right now no it

doesn't matter what it looks like every circumstance and situation you face can

change by the power of God amen so get out of negative expectancy then neutral

expectancy that's where in a person's not really expecting anything

well they say I've had some problems and some failures and so I don't want to be

disappointed so I'm really not gonna believe anything can change so they're

not really in a negative place but they're in what we call a neutral place

well I I don't want to get my hopes up so I'm not gonna expect anything how

many know God doesn't want you to live in a neutral place amen he wants you to

receive he wants you to expect don't be fearful of being disappointed you gotta

break out of that the Bible says that the love of God has been poured out in

our hearts by the Holy Ghost there's no shame there's no disappointment when

your trust your faith your hope is in God amen hey you sometimes people say

well it didn't turn out like I thought well how many of you know that's one of

those expectancies as well misguided everybody say misguided

misguided expectancy that's when you're looking the wrong way Psalm 62 verse

five says this my soul waits silently for God alone my expectation is from him

keep your expectation on him that's the challenge for us now how many of you

remember the story I'll just refer to this real quick

naman naman was a general and he'd conquered Israel or different towns and

so there's little girl was a slave in his house and he had leprosy and she

says to her I think she said to his wife or to him I think it was to his wife I

wish that my my master naman would be able to go see the Prophet because he

would heal him and so I guess word gets to him and so he goes he thought Saul I

mean let me give it a try and so he's gonna go see the Prophet and now this is

a big general this is a powerful man and this in an opposing country army and he

goes to see the prophet and the Prophet doesn't even come out to see him the

prophet sends his servant out to tell him go dip was at the Jordan River I

should have read this I mean is in my notes in my mouth my memory but I think

it was a Jordan go dip in the Jordan River seven times and you'll be healed

well what a name and ooh he got mad oh I thought did you notice what the

scripture says it says I thought the Prophet would come out and he would wave

his hand over me do all of this stuff or whatever and he was mad and and so you

know one of his one of maybe one of his search sergeants or lieutenants or one

of his attendants said you know what sir if he'd asked you to do something really

tough you would have done it right and he said why not try the simple thing he

encouraged him so he goes down to the Jordan and dips in the river comes up

the seventh time he was all clean and healed of his leprosy

but he had misguided expectancy he thought I thought he would come out and

he would he almost missed his opportunity with

because his expectancy was in the wrong place

Wow it's hard sometimes to get people to listen if their expectation is misguided

keep your eyes in the right direction keep your eyes focused on God Jesus

Christ is the author and the finisher of our faith amen

it's Jesus who's the author and finisher now the scripture then also are the what

we see as far as expectancy goes is unrealistic expectation unrealistic

expectation is really a fantasy unrealistic expectation says I can just

sit on my backside and this is gonna happen that's an unrealistic expectancy

a dream now see there's a difference between a dream that comes from God and

a fantasize that people think all things will be different but they're not

willing to go through the process to see the change happen amen God has great

things for us but how many know there's a change that we have to make sometimes

we don't want to make the change so there's a difference between a god-given

dream but he's going to give you some steps he's going to give you some things

to do as far as the the difference between that and an unrealistic

expectancy which would you know you're just well I'm just expecting my needs to

be met and God's gonna open the sky and pour out money or this is just well God

does that sometimes I don't dismiss that we see God have

done has done some wonderful miracles over the years and supplying people but

how many know sometimes you need to get off your backside and apply yourself for

that dream to come to pass I mean there's a difference between a god-given

dream and a fantasy okay unrealistic expectancy is that it may

have taken you 10 years to get into the mess that you're in and you're expecting

to get out overnight well I tried that I tried that faith business last year last

month last week it didn't work so how many of you know you need to apply the

Bible says the just shall live by faith it's not just I tried it and

when you're walking in faith there's no if there's no plan B there's no there's

this is what the Word of God says and this is what I believe is happening amen

so don't let misguided or unrealistic expectancy get you off-track

he can do it you've got to walk with him and stick with him amen

don't give up don't give up all right then the last one real quick is positive

expectancy positive expectancy one great example is what the woman of with the

issue of blood and mark chapter 5 had she said if I can just touch his clothes

I'll behold if I can just touch his clothes I'll be whole if I can just

touch his clothes I'll be whole that was a positive expectancy why she'd heard

about Jesus she heard what he was doing so her faith was in him she said if I

can just get to Jesus I'm gonna be whole and healthy

that was an expectancy that moved her to action you know we're teaching in in in

a Bible School School of the Bible and school of ministry faith is this month

and there's so many good definitions of faith though one of the simplest

definitions of faith I know is faith is simply believing what God said and doing

something about it believe what God said and do something about it and most of

the time you know what the doing is it's right here moving your mouth getting

your mouth to line up with this word is one of the first things that you can do

now there's other things maybe the Spirit of God will lead you to do

something praise is a big part of faith amen giving God praise and just giving

him honor Abraham the Bible says of Abraham and Romans chapter 4 he was

strengthened in his faith giving glory and honor to God there's a strength that

comes to us when we praise Him and worship Him so be sensitive to what the

Spirit of God is saying to do but most of the time the first thing the first

action the main action is right here our our mouth our

humm so what did she do she began to say if I can just touch his clothes I'll be

whole if I can just when I touch his clothes I'll be whole if I can just get

to Jesus and touch his clothes she set the point of contact for her faith I see

there's there's too many people in the church today just kind of waiting there

waiting for that word oh I hope pastor Mario or I hope pastor

Hagin or I hope brother Donnie your brother Pablo or someone I hope brother

sister Rhonda I hope so and so has a word for me you don't have to wait for a

word you don't have to wait for some special thing now if God chooses to do

that great but I think there's too many times people are just waiting instead of

being like the woman with the issue of blood in mark chapter 5 and saying this

is how it's gonna be and God's happy with that did Jesus rebuked her you read

the story you read the account in mark chapter 5 he didn't say how dare you you

didn't know if it was my will or not he commended her for her faith he said

daughter your faith has made you whole she set the point of contact she set the

point when her faith would be released and when she would receive what she

needed from God you can do the same thing amen wow that just sets somebody

free Isis sense that I hope that sets you free you don't have to wait for a

words you don't have to wait for a special moving you don't have to wait

for a special service you don't know wait for a special goosebump

we Pentecostals we like goosebumps when the presence of God comes in amen and

I'm all for the manifested presence of God I love the manifested presence of

God but you can receive in your car driving down i-25 at 7 o'clock in the

morning just as easily as you can receive here in a healing service Amen

you set the time and you can receive so expect what are you expecting from God

hallelujah now let me just say this and I'm going to close here in just a couple

minutes can we wonder what God wants to do

can we hinder what God wants to do well I believe we can I believe look with me

in mark chapter six mark chapter six and you'll see the account of Jesus teaching

in his own hometown okay so let's go there to mark chapter six and I have

some comments so I have to go to my scripture because I didn't copy it to my

notes but let's go to mark chapter six and I'll read from C what am I in this

morning am I in the New King James right now yeah I'm in the New King James so

this is from the New King James translation so the Bible says in mark

chapter six verse 1 then he went out from there and came to his own country

and his disciples followed him and aah and when the Sabbath had come verse two

he began to teach in the synagogue and many hearing him were astonished saying

where did this man now they weren't astonished I want you to know this they

weren't like wow this is awesome praise God they were like where did this

man get these things and what wisdom is this which was given to him that such

mighty works they saw the mighty works and then notice that next verse verse

three is this not the carpenter the son of Mary and brother of James and

Joseph's and Judas and Simon and are his sister's not here with us so you say how

do you know that Pastor because that last phrase there and verse three says

so they were offended at him so they looked at Jesus and they were familiar

with Jesus they'd grown up many of them he was in his own hometown many of them

were familiar with Jesus they knew Joseph they knew he was a carpenter

they knew the work that he did they saw him they lived with him for almost

thirty years before God put him into this place of ministry and and it

launched him out into what God's planned for him so up until that time he was

Jesus down the block he was Joe down the block he was Paul down the block he was

the guy that had the car to shop he built my kitchen table he

built my armoire that's who Jesus was to them and yet now they're seeing the

miracles and now they're hearing the words that he's speaking in something's

burning in their hearts and the Bible says they were offended at him now I say

this because sometimes we can get familiar with pastors we can get

familiar with ministers we can get familiar with church and we can just oh

I'm going to church on Sunday because it's my duty I'm making God happy by

being in church on Sunday morning how many of you know God wants you to come

expecting God wants you to come drawing on the gift he doesn't want you to me to

calm and be familiar oh that's just pastor Mario or that's just pastor bill

or pastor Charlie pastor Charles or pastor Kevin pastor Debbie no when we

come together it can be father I think you when I'm coming into your presence

you've given me gifts you've given us the Apostle the Prophet the Evangelist

the pastor the teacher and they're here to help me

they're here to speak into my life they're here to speak into our life as a

church so we're gonna expect you to do something we expect to hear a word from

you we expect you to be free to work and move in our midst as you desire if you

pray that way during the week guess what happens on Sunday morning it isn't it

amazing sometimes sometimes people say this well I'm just not being fed there

anymore and the person sitting right next to them is going wow did you hear

that praise God that just ministered to me and helped me and gave me answers you

say why does that happen it happens because of your expectancy it

happens because of familiarity sometimes people get so familiar that they're not

drawing they're not expecting they're just saying well I'm just gonna show up

and see if Pastor mario's on today or not ah I'll just show up today and see

if pastor Kenneth E Hagin if he W Hagin Kenneth WI has anything for me or not

I'll just see what happens whatever happened

happens que sera sera you're gonna get exactly what you expect nothing amen

you'll get nothing and the person sitting next to you will get it all

because they're expecting so say nobody's getting my stuff I'm expecting

good things from God and I'm gonna receive from God amen

you come expecting and watch what God will do so Jesus went on to say and I

need to close verse 4 but jesus said to them a prophet is not without honor

except in his own home country own country among his own relatives and in

his own house now verse 5 now he could do no mighty work there except that now

this is Jesus signs wonders and miracles the Son of God and the Bible says he

could not not he would not he wasn't fine that's the way they are let him

suffer God don't touch him just let him suffer

and that wasn't his attitude he wanted to help him but their expectancy wasn't

there as a matter of fact the Bible says they were offended at him and he could

not not he would not that is very very important he could not do why because of

their unbelief he could not do any mighty work there except he laid his

hands on a few sick people and healed them so some people did get healed but

he could have done so much more but the people weren't expecting and you'll

notice what did he say in verse 6 and he marveled because of their unbelief

what's the cure for unbelief teaching he went about the villages in a circuit

teaching you got to hear the word faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word

of God so I trust a message like this they will

stir you and me and our expectancy when we come together on Sunday morning when

we come together when there's guests that are here when we come together in

our connection group did you know that God can anoint your connection group

leader Amen they but they don't stay in the pulpit on Sunday no they don't

have to they're opening the Word of God every time the Word of God is open every

time you're studying something together to help one another in your faith and in

your walk with God in the connection group in a ministry group whatever the

group is God can anoint that person and help them to say things that they didn't

even plan on saying and it'll change your life

you've heard the phrase before one word of God can change your life forever amen

so let's all stand up together I pray that your expectancy is in the right

direction I pray that your expectancy is toward God now Paul said this in

Ephesians chapter one and this is one of the things you and I can put some action

to the message when you go home tonight you just start praying you set aside

time to pray say father God thank you for these meetings that are coming up

tonight just begin with today hallelujah say father thank you Paul pray Paul said

pray for me Paul said pray for Paul the Apostle pray

for me he said that I'd have words to speak Paul prayed for the saints but

Paul also asked for prayer for him Ephesians chapter 6 pray that I'd have

words to speak pray that I'd speak boldly Ephesians chapter 2 you know the

verse Paul said my my speech in my preaching or not with enticing words of

man's wisdom but in the power and demonstration of the Holy Spirit praise

God for creative means to bring the word praise God for video praise God for

PowerPoint praise God for all the stuff we have but when it comes right down to

it it has to be the power of God through the word by the Holy Ghost it changes

our life and you and me both have a part to play in that it's that good English

you and I which way should I said that okay we have a part to play amen
