Did I Quit Polymer Clay? - A Chatty Update - Duration: 8:11.
Oh my gosh. Wait, is that...
It's Amy!
Hi guys, it's Amy.
Okay, so oh my gosh, it's been so long since I made a video. I'm... I'm trippin'.
So, first off, I want to say
Thank you all so much for all of your love and support.
Oh, it means so much to me.
The purpose of this video is to discuss
what's going on?
What's up with Amy? And Amy's Claythings?
Excellent question...
Yeah. Good one.
So...
Like I said, thank you all so much for your love and support.
It really does mean a whole lot to me. A lot of people have been asking, you know,
What happened to you, where did you go? Are you okay? Did you quit clay? Like, oh my gosh...
So, where have I been?
I've been around... just chillin'...
Doin' my thang.
No, I have not quit polymer clay and
I have no plans to
ever quit polymer clay.
So there's that.
So, you may or may not know,
that I am actually disabled, and I won't go into
all of these specifics on
my disability, but I will leave some links down below in
the description
if you're curious.
Basically, I'm in pain
24/7 and,
sadly, it affects...
These bad boys right here. I can't work with the clay...
... and that's very depressing for me.
So I had to take a hiatus;
wait and see what happens.
I am feeling hopeful; I have found a new pain doctor and
we might be
getting some relief from the pain, so
I'm hopeful that something will work and I will be able to clay again. So fingers crossed.
So, in the meantime, I have
needed
another creative outlet.
I've always been kind of artsy and creative, but
lacked motivation to do anything and when I started polymer clay
it blew the doors wide open and...
going on hiatus from the clay, I
had to do something!
So, I got into a mixed media art, mixed media art journaling specifically is where I started with...
Wow... it has been so therapeutic and
just kind of life-changing.
You know, I sometimes I'll work through
some rough times through the art and,
you know, at times I will express the negative and at other times I'm expressing the hope and
possibilities; just life in general.
But it's been so amazing, I just can't believe I haven't been doing this my whole life.
So, yeah, I've been doing that and I have also recently started trying to draw...
I think I'm actually really good for a beginner...
if I don't say so myself...
But I have a long way to go. But I'm working on it; I'm practicing,
drawing just a little something, like, everyday if I can.
Even just doing what I can to be creative and learn and experiment and...
You know, it's.. it's been a journey and I'm excited to see where my journey will go from here. So,
I really, truly hope
That I can get back into polymer and I can get to uploading videos.
I've been
very ambitious
the past, like, year and a half or so.
I get an idea of something that I really want to do,
but I kind of set goals that are just a little bit too
big.
I started YouTube and, I said, I told myself I'm gonna post a video a week or...
two a week!
That just...
It's impossible for me.
Especially with the pain. I just can't do it. There is
a lot of work involved in uploading videos. You don't just shoot a camera and then *bloop* it's done.
You know, there's a lot with editing and, you know, trying to make sure that everything looks right with the light and
you know, is my hair okay? You know, whatever it may be.
The editing part can be grueling, but worth it.
So I really, truly hope to be uploading videos; I hope before the end of the year, for sure.
But I'm not gonna set unrealistic goals this time.
For the remainder of the year...
Right now. I just hope to get out one more.
If I do more, awesome. If I can't do it at all,
that will be disappointing and I'll have to look at...
where I'm at with things and make some decisions. So...
Anyway, if you've stayed this long, thank you so much. You're awesome!
And again, I will leave the description down below for my art Instagram.
I hope to see you guys very soon!
Miss you so much. Okay. Bye
Muah!

Medical Minute: Can Malar Mounds and Eyelid Festoons Be Treated? - Duration: 2:16.
Can Malar Mounds and Eyelid Festoons be treated?
Welcome to Dr. Scheiner's Medical Minute.
When we see one another our brains scan the other person's face for nonverbal facial
cues.
We tend to focus on the eye and mouth region for these cues.
When we see heavy upper or lower lids and malar mounds or eyelid festoons, we tend to
interpret that person as being tired, sick and sometimes drunk.
Malar mounds and Eyelid festoons have been traditionally very difficult conditions to
correct.
And when lower eyelid surgery is performed without correcting the festoons and malar
mounds, it often looks worse afterwards.
This is because we expect heavy lower lids to accompany eyelid festoons and malar mounds
and when only one of these conditions is corrected, these festoons and malar mounds are accentuated
and made to stand out in contrast.
The best option is to correct the festoons, malar mounds and lower lid bags at the same
time.
This gives the most beautiful and natural result.
What are the options for treating Malar Mounds and Eyelid festoons?
Some options include attempting to stretch them out by making a incision above them and
pulling upwards.
This has had mild and often disappointing results.
Another option is to cut out the festoon and malar mounds, but this leaves a visible scar
on this focal area of the face.
Some have tried to put fillers around the festoon and malar mounds to blend the edges
and make it less noticeable but this tends to fix the festoons and malar mounds in a
swollen mound when the desire should be to flatten these instead.
My preferred option for dramatically improving eyelid festoons and malar mounds involves
using lasers to tighten them from the outside in.
This causes these mounds and festoons to flatten into the surrounding contour.
Although this involves some recovery associated with healing, my patients prefer the results
and don't mind spending time to get the results they seek.
I hope you found this interesting and I invite you come back and watch again for our next
medical minute.
Goodbye for now and I wish each of you a beautiful day.

Vision's Birth | Avengers Age of Ultron (2015) Movie Clip - Duration: 4:34.
Wait!
I'm sorry. That was...
Odd
Thank you
Thor
You helped create this?
I've had a vision:
A whirlpool that sucks in all hope of life, and at its center...
Is that
What, the gem?
It's the Mind Stone
It's one of the six Infinity Stones, the greatest power in the universe
Unparalleled in its destructive capabilities
-Then why would you bring it here? -Stark is right
Oh, it's definitely the end times
The Avengers cannot defeat Ultron
Not alone
Why does your vision sound like Jarvis?
We reconfigured Jarvis's matrix
To create something new
I think I've had my fill with new
You think I'm a child of Ultron
You're not?
I'm not Ultron
I'm not Jarvis either
I am
I looked in your head...
And saw annihilation
-Look again -Yeah
Your self-approval means jack to me
Their powers, the horrors in our heads, Ultron himself
They all came from the mind stone
And nothing compared to what it could unleash
But with it on our side-
Is it?
Are you?
On our side?
I don't think it's that simple
Well, it better get real simple real soon
I am on the side of life
Ultron isn't
He will end it all
What's he waiting for?
You
Where?
Sokovia
He's got Nat there too
If we're wrong about you...
If you're the monster that Ultron made you to be...
What will you do?
I don't want to kill Ultron
He's unique
And he's in pain
But that pain will roll over the Earth
So he must be destroyed
Every form he's built,
Every trace of his presence on the net
We have to act now
And not one of us...
Can do it without the others
Maybe I am a monster
I don't think I'd know if I were one
I'm not what you are
I'm not what you intended
So there may be no way to make you trust me
But we need to go

10 FASTEST Denzel Curry Verses - Duration: 12:11.
So after a long ass time, and a whole lot of requests, a video on Denzel Curry is finally
here, and today we're gonna be covering his fastest verses.
Real quick, I do wanna give a huge shoutout to the Denzel Curry subreddit, who helped
me find a large amount of the verses in this video.
As a way of thanking them, their community will be linked in the description.
So let's get right into this, this is CDTVProductions, you can join my Amino also linked below to
discuss hip hop with me and other music lovers like yourself, and let's look at the 10
Fastest Denzel Curry Verses.
12 - Narcotics (Verse 1) - 6.9 SPS
This is the one that surprised me the most, because when I first heard it I thought it
was an 8 SPS verse for sure.
I'm not sure what makes it slower than it sounds, but I've counted it repeatedly and
over 10 seconds this is the speed it hits.
Amazing verse though.
11 - Parents (Verse 1) - 7 SPS
A lot of Denzel's Nostalgic 64 project has a very gritty sound to it, and don't get
me wrong that sound is still present here especially with the story Denzel is telling,
but Denzel's lyrics sound kinda tongue in cheek and it adds a nice humorous layer to
the track which helps make it slightly less dark.
Not to mention, he's laying down some facts on this one.
10 - Dark Tournament (Verse 2) - 7 SPS
This track is still pretty damn nice, but you can tell Denzel has came a hell of a long
way since this released.
The fast rapping part is nice, but you can tell it's a little bit more shaky here than
it is nowadays.
There's still great wordplay on it though, and it apparently samples it's instrumental
from an Anime show theme.
I really don't like anime so I have no clue, but if you are a fan of Yu Yu Hakusho, then
I'm sure this track will grab your interest.
9 - The Federation (Verse 2) - 7.1 SPS
I hadn't heard this song until I did research for this video, but I honestly think it contains
one of my favourite Denzel verses.
Every single flow he uses on this track is entertaining and all are somewhat rapid whilst
switching it really often.
I actually had to count like 5 different sections of this song because he keeps the pace up
on almost every section of it, it's just great.
It's cool to hear Denzel on such a laid back track as well, as most of his catalogue
is fairly dark in terms of tone.
8 - Lord Vader Kush II (Verse 1) - 7.1 SPS
And here we have the only track on this list from 32 Zel, a project which definitely showcases
Denzel taking on more of a trap influence.
I really love the sound on this project, and this song really encapsulates it's sound.
Spacy melodies, forceful drums and Denzel jumping all over it with his cadences, it's
a combo that I really do love.
Interestingly, I didn't think this track would be faster than songs like Envy Me or
Ultimate, which came from the same project, but by my measurements, this is the fastest
one from the EP.
7 - Flying Nimbus (Verse 3) - 7.2 SPS
The transition from the second verse, which is performed by Lofty305, into the third verse
which you just heard is so good on this track.
We shift gears insanely quickly from Lofty's confident mid tempo flow, to Denzel's rapid
and turbulent flow in the drop of a hat, and the way it shifts is so great.
He absolutely kills it here, and brings a hell of a lot of energy and excitement into
the song.
He does say the word *thot* (whisper) here though, so we might have to copystrike Denzel
for that one.
6 - Always With Me (Verse 2) - 7.2 SPS
Now as you can imagine, Ronny J's production is always a bit hit and miss for me, with
me being the old distortion hating Boi that I am, but when he doesn't use distorted
bass he can make some beats that I absolutely love.
And that is the case with this song.
If there's one thing I can say, it's that he programs his 808s like a master.
On top of this, Aaron Rose comes through with a really great verse on here, and you already
know Curry came through and slaughtered it.
Check this one out if you haven't heard it, it's worth it.
5 - Bloodshed (Verse 1) - 7.2 SPS
This is pretty much the song I can credit with getting me back into Denzel's music,
one day I just decided to listen to the 13 EP, absolutely loved it and then went through
every single other project Denzel has made.
And this song was at the very start of that EP.
It pulled me in right away, that dark, booming bass produced by Eric Dingus (which is a great
name) and Denzel's rapid fire rapping with his frenetic flow really got me intrigued
in what he was gonna do, and he didn't disappoint.
The whole 13 EP is pretty amazing from start to finish in my opinion, but Bloodshed remains
as my top track from the short project.
4 - Unmask (Verse 1) - 7.6 SPS
Here we have a great collab between Denzel Curry, Craig Xen and Ski Mask the Slump God,
who I have also done 2 Fastest verses videos on, and those will be linked in the description
below.
I can definitely see why this one is faster than a lot of the other tracks on here.
On pretty much every bar, Denzel crams as many syllables in as he can, and it makes
sure his verse here always has this kinda velocity to it, it just keeps moving forward.
Everyone on here kills it, brings their own style to the song, and it makes for a brilliant
track.
(Although I won't lie.
Craig Xen kinda terrified me the first time I heard this song.)
3 - Talk That Shit (Verse 1) - 7.7 SPS
Here we have what is probably the most trap flavoured track on the N64 album, with a brash
sound to the instrumental and Curry matches this with his lyrics and vocals.
Interestingly, the hook on this track is actually Denzel quoting and essentially sampling one
of his earlier songs titled Strictly For My Raiderz, which is a song I can recommend if
you haven't heard some of Denzel's really early material.
Lyrically this is a pretty interesting track too, with some of the earlier bars having
a somewhat spiritual vibe to them, and there's also a couple references to other rap songs
thrown in there too.
It's a nice track, and probably one of the hardest ones on N64.
2 - Drogas (Verse 1) - 7.8 SPS
I thought this one would've been number 1 for sure, but it did miss out on that spot
by a small margin.
But goddamn does he come right out with the pace at the very start of his verse.
It's seriously impressive.
This is also probably the most unique track that we have on this list, the beat has a
pretty strange sound to it, and Denzel's vocals are mixed pretty deep into the beat.
It creates a very cool sound.
I'm not gonna lie though, I laughed my ass off when Lofty305 was singing about pussy,
that part of the song was hilarious.
There's like 3 or 4 different rappers on this track that aren't Denzel as well, so
I'd recommend checking this out if you wanna be introduced to some artists you might not
have heard before.
1 - Gettin' Rich (Verse 2) - 8.1 SPS
Here we have yet another track that features both Denzel Curry and Mike Dece (pronounced
Mike Dee-Cee), and I think I've decided I love it whenever these guys collaborate.
The other collab they did was also on this list, that being our number 9 song The Federation,
and I loved that too.
Not to mention, they both were on the previous song Drogas as well.
I think it's just cool hearing Denzel over these more light hearted and airy beats.
He absolutely breezes through it with his flow, and raps fast enough to get him his
first verse that peaks at over 8 syllables per second.
And there you have it, Gettin Rich contains the fastest Denzel Curry verse that he has
laid down
so far.

How to get rid of fruit flies - and natural traps you can use - Duration: 8:53.
Pesky fruit flies often seen circling the sink or hovering above the fruit bowl can often appear to be on the warpath across Britain
The tiny pests are a common sight in our kitchens throughout the summer. Also known as banana and vinegar flies, the flies have notoriously proven to be a nuisance due to their ability to instantly plague our homes
Fruit flies have a four-stage insect reproductive of egg-larvae-pupae-adult. The larvae will start to feed on decaying fruit immediately after they hatch
It takes about one to two weeks to complete the entire metamorphosis. The fact that female fruit flies can lay up to 500 eggs at a time and repeat every day for up to 20 days provides some insight into how large populations can soon gather
As the name implies, fruit flies are attracted to fruits, as well as vegetables, sitting out on in kitchens
Adult fruit flies never have chewing mouthparts. They use saliva to change solids to liquids and their sponge-like mouthparts pick up semi-liquid foods
They also breed in drains and rubbish bins. What causes fruit flies in the house? Analysts say their apparent recent influx is partly down to an increase in kitchen compost bins used to recycle food scraps
A resurgence in decorative house plants, credited as a revival aided by hipsters, has also contributed to their prevalence
Rotting apples are a particular magnet, but flies also zone in on ripened fruit and veg while the dregs of liquid left-overs, such as beer or soft drinks, can be just as appealing
The flies lay their eggs on these moist surfaces and when their numerous larvae hatch, they feed on the surface too What gets rid of fruit flies? The first step to take is to find and remove their breeding source, such as fermented or rotten food
Compost bins should be regularly cleaned and bleached, while homemade traps can be used to eliminate the pests
Placing vinegar or fruit in jars will attract flies and using rolled up paper as a cone will provide an entrance but no exit for the insects, leaving them unable to escape
Councils advise residents not to leave cut or spoiling fruit, vegetables and other foodstuffs exposed in open containers
Bags of potatoes and onions should be checked frequently as an infestation can quickly spread if any are found to be rotten
What are the best ways to repel fruit flies? 1. Use apple cider vinegar Take the cap from the bottle of cider vinegar and cover the opening in plastic wrap - secure it with a rubber band
Poke a hole in the wrap so the fruit flies can enter, but once inside they can't get out
Why it works: Flies are drawn to the vinegar, and they get stuck once they sneak inside
Try the Braggs Organic Apple Cider Vinegar 946ml and Pure Source Nutrition Apple Cider Vinegar 2
5l. 2. Vinegar and soap If the plastic isn't working add three drops of soap to a bowl of vinegar and leave it uncovered in the kitchen for a few hours
Why it works: The soap cuts through the vinegar so the flies sink and drown. 3. Paper cone and piece of fruit Place a bit of vinegar and ripe fruit in a jar
Roll your paper into a cone shape and put the smaller side into the jar. Why it works: Fruit flies are drawn in, but can't get out and drown
4. Milk, sugar and pepper Combine a pint of milk, four ounces of raw sugar and two ounces of ground pepper in a saucepan then simmer for 10 minutes
Put this in a dish. Why it works: They're drawn to the sweet mixture and drown in it
5. Red Wine This may seem like an opportunity to drink a glass or two, but it's not just humans that love wine, flies do too
Leave a bottle open with a little bit left and watch them drop in. 6. Change the soil in your pot plants If you have plants at home and you are certain that fruit flies are coming from them then you might want to change the soil in your pots for fresh
Invest in top-quality soil, which is less likely to contain pests. 7. Fly strips Try Trapro Dual Sticky Fly Traps for Houseplant Fly Insect Control it's Non-Toxic and Eco-Friendly and comes in 20 packs
For something more expensive, there's the Fruit Fly BarPro strips which stay up in the home
They're more than £50 though so think about how bad the issue is first. 8. Fly swatter There's your average fly swatter, which is just a piece of plastic, or there's the electric ones
Try the KWmobile Electric Bug Zapper here. There's also the rechargable ones like the Zap-It! Zapper
9. Clean up your dirty dishes Make sure that you don't leave and dirty dishes lying around in the sink
Get in the habit of cleaning up your dirty dishes straight after you have finished eating a meal and you won't give the flies an excuse to be there! 10
Keep your bins covered up It's not rocket science, the fruit fly loves an uncovered bin, so don't give them the opportunity to land on your rubbish by making sure you keep your bin lid on and keep all your tasty morsels away from them

Margera even ended up filing for a protection from abuse order against Rivell, claiming
that post-break up, she broke into his house, vandalized his belongings, and even physically
injured him on one occasion.
But at the time, Margera had already moved on to a relationship with his soon-to-be first
wife, Missy Rothstein.
Sound nuts already?
Here are some other strange things about Bam Margera's marriages.
Romance at the mall
In a January 2007 New York Times profile of Margera and Missy Rothstein, Margera relayed
his unconventional approach to romancing his then-fiancée, saying,
"If it's Valentine's Day, I don't want her to expect flowers from me just because that's
what you're supposed to do.
My Valentine's Day is May 5."
And speaking of romance, Margera proposed at the Cartier store at King of Prussia Mall
after finding a diamond sparkler that fit Rothstein perfectly.
Margera said of the moment,
"I was like, 'Now's the time.'
We just sat there and drank three bottles of Champagne.
Then we forgot to get gas on the way home, and we straight up ran out of gas on Route
202."
Palyboy calling
On The Howard Stern Show in September 2007, the newlyweds revealed how private photos
of Rothstein were leaked on the internet.
Margera said that Palyboy approached him to do the shoot and he couldn't resist.
The spread was only supposed to feature the tame shots, but someone on set leaked some
photos of Rothstein posing fully nude, that had been taken for private use only.
Earlier that year in January, Margera and Rothstein visited The Howard Stern Show to
fling their bedroom door wide open.
"I figured out a way to hump in the car, as I'm driving and she's sitting on top of me
facing the road as well."
And along with humping in Margera's Hummer, Rothstein also confessed that she bought Margera
a "Real Doll" to spice things up.
"I have fantasies about having threesomes, but I don't wanna do that because I know that
it'll ruin everything [...] She totally got me a real doll it's on the way."
After all of that, a caller wanted to know if Rothstein was "turned off" by the brand
Margera famously got on his rear.
"There's a bunch of 'em.
I have a d--- farm on my a--."
Rothstein, of course, didn't mind.
Wedded blowout
Margera and Rothstein's unconventional 2007 nuptials were chronicled on the reality show
Bam's Unholy Union.
After Margera seemingly destroyed his wife's wedding dress with paintballs, the actual
wedding was exactly the kind of manic party you'd expect from any of the Jackass crew
- and even featured a performance by Iggy Pop.
Later, Margera revealed to longtime friend Kat Von D,
"I have $13,000 worth of damages I have to pay for [...] Everybody got so wasted, they
started breaking light fixtures and kicking in the bathroom doors."
But, really...did he expect anything less?
The look of love
Margera and Rothstein commemorated their union with - what else?
- mouth tattoos.
According to The New York Times, the couple did the deed at X-Treme Ink Tattoo Parlor
in their hometown of West Chester, Pennsylvania on the day they signed their marriage license.
Rothstein got the Detroit area code, 313 - the location where they purchased their wedding
bands, and Margera got a heart with the words "Missy Forever"...along with the name "Dr.
J." because, as Margera says of the basketball legend, "He's the man."
The couple split in 2012, but Bam's devotion to Julius Erving is clearly forever.
Take two
Eleven months after his divorce, Margera was walking down the aisle again, this time during
the Random Hero Festival in Reykjavik, Iceland, wearing a classy black hoodie and sunglasses.
Immediately after saying their vows, Margera jumped onstage with his band and played a
set complete with a mosh pit and crowd surfing.
Strange in literally any other circumstance?
Absolutely.
Par for the course with Bam Margera?
100%.

@ Your Library - CT Authors Trail 2018 - Duration: 20:13.
and welcome to at your library I'm your host Kathleen Clifford joining
us today is Christine Schulzs she is the director of the Janet Carlson calvert
library in Franklin Connecticut but chris is here today as the coordinator
of the Connecticut author trail the Connecticut author trail is celebrating
its 10th year this summer congratulations thank you
so welcome to at your library my talk show for our viewers out there we're
gonna hear all about the Connecticut author trail today and when it starts
and what it is and how you can go so let's jump right in and tell us how did
the Connecticut Arthur trail starts it began when I was a new director Franklin
was a new library and I was trying to think of ways to bring people in and one
of the things was by having authors come in there we liked authors and libraries
are just a natural fit so I started by asking area libraries like the ones
around me 11 in spray Guilford Smith if they would like to do a series of
authors and we they agreed and this way I got to meet directors and being new
and we all picked out authors and we just put it in a trail so
it started out with 12 okay twelve twelve libraries and it's kind of neat
because here in Connecticut with your library card you can visit any library
in our state so this is a really good opportunity for people to visit other
libraries also and it brings in people all libraries have something special and
and either it's the building architect it's the just the programs that they
offer and and this was a way to bring people in and cool off during a hot
summer night so this year's kickoff is July 10th yes and it's at my library and
in Franklin and it's at the rink library yes which i think is unnatural yes yes
how many libraries do you have her participating this year this year we
have thirty thirty so from 12 to 30 and ten years so how has the trail grown
over those ten years how has it well first it started with support from my
friends of the library okay for the Calvert library I when I
told them what I wanted to do they they say go for it they're very supportive
very supportive of the trail um and then as I went around to different libraries
and started meeting more more librarians and and talked about it and
word-of-mouth between the libraries okay um it just kept growing and this year we
added three new libraries really yeah and we have it's not just public
libraries it's also College we have Quinta bug Valley
okay and we have Nora Academy joined us this year Oh at school and school yeah
so we're this is basically a young adult adult Trail okay um we're thinking of
doing a kitty cat trail and maybe the fall or next year it's children Juliana
yeah yeah because Meegan son has been with us from
the beginning they supported us when we asked for help and they they have always
helped us and now they always give us the cabaret theater so they they were
very big in helping us get authors for the trail and it's been nice and now we
talk with the authors who who join different clubs and things and they pass
them they come to us oh okay so so one of the big parts of the Connecticut
author trail for not the authors but the people attending is the passport program
so let's find out what it is how you can get involved and how it works okay our
passport similar to this okay this year we have
our our special logo that we're doing what this has in it is basically
everything that you would need to know to trip to travel along the trail okay
there's a map we have each library in order of appearance authors and it tells
a little bit about about them it has the the name the time in the and the place
and as you go through you you get your passport stamped in the back we have a
stamp area and so it each event and each other you will have ask you'll have a
stamp there I know you go there and you get it you get it stamped and at the end
in the finale we have some special treats that are going to be happening
but as you go along the passport is very important it also tells a little bit
about what about why we started and who who's there we have our supporters list
Oh excellent and I'm sure I need to have you need to have support to make an
event like this we do and and without these these people we wouldn't really
have have a trail because it everything is free everything that we do is free so
that was gonna be a next question for you is um what is the cost for this
nothing so anybody can attend any event at any library free of charge right
especially the finale I do like to try to get a lot of people at the finale
because when you can son does does so much for us that would be nice a nice
group that personality and that's our means
we're gonna take a quick break right now and then when we come back we're gonna
get into the details of some of the authors coming and when they're coming
and then we'll hear more about that finale stay tuned we'll be back after a
short break I've been delivering meals on wheels to Leon for 13 years it's
always a pleasure to see you Leon has definitely inspired me to put more into
my relationships he really cared for his wife who was ailing for quite a while in
such a touching way that inspired me to be a better person
drop off a warm meal and get more than you expect volunteer at America let's do
lunch org America let's do lunch we believe that
when the community comes together we can do great things we're working to make
rotten the healthiest and safest place for everything hey kids listen to your
parents we want you to have the facts and the best tools to keep you safe we
know there is a lot of confusing talks about drugs in the media parents we know
you have a tough job to do teaching your kids about alcohol and drug abuse we're
here to help you let's work together to change community norms about drugs and
alcohol help us out volunteers donate find us at rotten
prevents and join us we just finished dinner and it was time for homework it
makes no sense I don't know how he finds anything in his backpack I can't find my
backpack I couldn't even read his handwriting loading the pencil makes my
hand hurt I know he's bright why is it so hard for me when you can see learning
and attention issues from their side you can be on their side go to understood
org a free online resource with support and tools to help your child thrive
welcome back to at your library today we've been talking about the Connecticut
author trail with Christine who is the coordinator for the event and we've
talked a little bit about what and when and now we're gonna talk about who so
the grinder public library is involved with the Connecticut author trail and on
August 1st we are gonna have author Tony Renzo knee Tony is the author of
Connecticut rock and roll which figures right in with our summer reading program
libraries Rock also we cannot forget to mention the mystic and no ink library
they're gonna be hosting Charles monoghan on July 16th and the bill
Memorial Library will be hosting M solder on September 7th now these are
just our three local libraries here in Groton and we know that there's 27 more
authors so Christine can you please tell us about a few of the other authors on
the trail this summer sure first I'll start with the one of my kick off
librarian the first one who is harmony Verna and she writes a fiction story
about its beneath the Apple leaf and it's it's very good I don't want to tell
you you have deer Haram in your her zoo week and then our finale is Amy bloom we
have who else say a little more later we have a few other authors that nan
Rossiter who has been on our trail before with an earlier book she's back
on we have I think you knew I do I you know that was a B Gonzalez I can
honestly tell you that this book of poetry is phenomenal so he is definitely
one not to miss and we are having our very first author on the trail in 2009
was Karen Olsen and she is actually going to be in Lebanon um in July she's
going to be speaking again I'm one of her newer books we try not to have too
many of repeat authors because we like to give as many people
chance as possible to be on the trail sometimes it just it just happens you
know the the libraries all choose their own author and from there we we create
the trail by its picking our times the authors I'm gonna just assume must
be from Connecticut yes okay so they must somehow connected to somehow kay
you said the libraries choose their own author yes how do they how would
libraries know if they if they don't let's say our library didn't know a
Connecticut author is there a place that they can go through you I create a list
okay um a lot of the authors contact me okay saying they would like to be on on
the trail so I create a list and I send it out to all the libraries who who may
need to look and see we libraries always have authors coming to us and asking if
they could do a talk right so a lot of a lot of times they network that way at
the finales I usually invite all the authors that were on the trail so
libraries can also talk to to them and try to get more programs that way for
other times of the year oh it's a complete system of network yet well
there's in libraries through absolutely and I know like me personally I'm a huge
author person I think books are amazing I think authors are wonderful and giving
me a plan for the summer of 30 different authors that I can pick and choose from
is very very exciting now you said you had 30 this year if you needed to grow
can you yes I already have another library who wants to be on it alright so
basically if you're a library if you have enough libraries you can match the
authors yes so yes so any libraries out there that would like to be part of the
Connecticut author Joe next year where can you find the information
specifically in the passport I know the authors are listed the dates and the
libraries now if you don't have a passport yet where do you go
wouldn't find out about it passports will probably become available the last
week of June beginning of July and where can you pick them up at participating
libraries that are on the trail and there's 30 so you there should be
hopefully one near you you can also go on to our website today get authors
Trail org okay so if you're not sure if your library's participating you can so
you can check the website and I was on the website earlier and I saw that
there's a lot of details and a lot of information yes you could see past
trails people on on past trails you can see our supporters list you can get a
copy of the poster a small you can make a download a small copy if you by chance
don't get a passport if the libraries are out and you still want to
participate you can take that poster along and just turn it over and have the
library stamp that that's excellent or you can hang the poster in your office
in your office and then you can know exactly when you have everywhere yes now
most importantly how much does it cost to go to the author events
it is absolutely free library programs are usually free and this is one that I
don't feel should ever be charged if I want to buy a book and meet the author
can I yes and they'll sign my book yes they will can I bring my book from home
yes you can bring influence so see this is a great opportunity if you've always
wanted to meet one of your favorite authors come out to the event it's
absolutely worth - trust me they last about an hour - well okay that was my
next query so you know and then the finale event is about that about that
long well I noticed that the book topics are very diverse yes we try we want to
make it for everybody okay we want everybody to come and enjoy a
nice evening out speaking with an author or topic that you might want to discuss
we encourage questions the authors are very personable and they and they like
to talk about their books of course and about themselves and why they did it and
it's it's a lot of fun and okay and I that you had mentioned in the past that
Connecticut humanities was involved Connecticut humanities is one of our
leading supporters we actually have one of the winners from last year's awards
that they are now doing so anybody who's any naked person who has written a book
is free to apply for an award that you know they they have an award that they
choose certain genres and then they then they pick an author off of that so
there's a lot of opportunities to get their books out there and and promoted
and that's it that's what we're trying to help authors do right you know is
it's seizing books and hopefully they they have more sales they have more
networking it's of you know different libraries to make sure that anybody can
have a book placed in their hands and they don't have to worry about any
limitations except having a library card right that's what's your library but I
think you know it's very important that all ages know that they can they can
have access to this and then it's a bonus when you can meet that all right
so all right toward ready for the most important information tell us about the
big finale okay Mohegan Sun cabaret on September 20th
Mohicans son has been our meheecan son and winning authors program has been a
major supporter from the very beginning they've encouraged us like I said
they've they've even offered authors for us this year we're having Amy bloom who
has just come out with her new her new book white house and it's a fun event we
opened the doors at 6:15 okay people can come in we have a little bit of
appetizers we're gonna have a birthday anniversary cake this year race and they
can mingle start talking with the authors because we invite all the
authors back okay and those who can attend that night come and they you can
either purchase books that you may not have had a chance to to purchased on the
trail or if you couldn't go to that author during the summer you can meet
them at the finale have my book signed yes absolutely all
right and then we we have the main author come up and she talks for a while
you can question you can it's a week try to keep it lively and and then that's it
for the evening you can have your book signed you can purchase a book and
square books is one of our be a big supporters of getting half for prizes
the pass so the more events that you go to through the summer okay and you have
your passport stamped when you come that evening of the finale you're given one
ticket and it's put in one of the level prizes so we have our top prizes Mohegan
Sun is given an overnight package we have the garde Arts is giving two
tickets to the to a performance we have cross sound ferry is giving us Long
Island Sound ferry tickets Wow and we have baskets of books there
should be about five baskets of all the author's donate a book so we make
baskets and then we pick five lucky people to do get a basket excellent
so you attend the author events you meet the authors you have your passport
stamped at a library you may or may not have ever visited and then you come to a
party with cake we're not Mohegan Sun for a chance to
win this excellent fun and it's all free and it's everything really and we like
to have as many people attend as possible excellent well if you have any
questions you can go to the website which is Connecticut authors trail org
which will be up on the program and or you can call the ground Public Library
here directly and we'll have information for
you thank you so much you thank you very much for table and I look forward to
seeing you in the Janus summer yes hopefully to you thank you again for
joining us this has been at your library thanks for checking
