Hello everyone :)
a lot of you have been asking me to record a video that would explain current meta
that would tell you more about why people play all these weird champions, on different roles
this video is going to explain all of this stuff; what's the meta right now, why it's the way it is
and what could possibly happen in the nearest future...
if it's about the game you're watching - it's just a basic soloq game that I chose from my match history
you don't need to really pay attention to it, you're not going to see the whole game anyway
I'll focus on champions and picks at the end of the video,
I'll talk about what's good and what's not on certain positions
but now let's get to the point
so as for today we usually have tanks, or carries on toplane
on mid- we've got many different tactics, ie. Taric with Master Yi(jungle)
or Karthus with Nunu, or Kai'Sa with Braum as we played on LCS
apart from that on botlane- it depends; people complain you can't play adcarry anymore
so people play Karthus- like in this game with Lulu
or Heimerdinger, like we've been recently playing, or Ziggs; actually everything
in the jungle- nothing has changed in the jungle really
apart from that you usually play champions with strong early game, not tanks
but what happened, that we've come to this?; why did people start playing such champs?
why noone was playing these champs before? how did it all happen?
so.. since January 2018, Riot's been trying to buff early game
why they've been trying to buff early game?
because in Korea, we've had these games that lasted over an hour
really, there were games that you were literally locked up in, like an animal in a cage
you couldn't take a break and have a piss, you were literally stuck in the game for over an hour
and the games lasted years, somebody even broke the world record
there was a Sivir with over 1000 cs
so it was a total disaster; so Riot said ok- if it's so bad, let's buff early game
so people won't complain, so you'll be able to "wrap up" games
and even though maybe on soloqueue not every game was that long
they were still too long, and moreover-
it's not fun to watch; because let's be honest- you don't watch LoL because it's cool in itself
and it's fun to watch 5 people running around the map;
you watch LoL to see people fighting, to see a lot of action
so the decision was made, and since then, they've been trying to buff early game
- so what have they done?
the first thing they did, was the Rift Herlad buff, so it became fairly easy to take it
turned out it didn't have much impact on the game
but later, they buffed Rift Herlad again,
and the second buff made it quite unbalanced, because it deals 1500 damage to turrets
even if it's low hp,
so now it's really easy to take towers with Herald
also, not that long ago, there was a remake of mages
now we've just had an ad carries remake, well, a lot of small changes
most of ad'carries got a bit of extra health in early game, but the other stats were reduced
and also all ad'carries items have become more expensive
because of that, you don't really want an adc in your team
maybe a 1,5 month ago before these changes, before 8.10 I guess, that flipped the game upside down
you could take ie. Tristana
you could scale into the late game
you didn't have to worry if there was an Ezreal in their team
but the way it is now..
is that you want an adc that is able to do something, anything; anyhow- in early game
because of the fact that Rift Herald was changed,
the jungle was totally changed, it also was flipped upside down
right now, we've got two Rift Scuttlers in early game, giving loads of exp
then we've got one Rift Scuttler on the map,
that gives loads of exp, loads of gold
these days if you're ahead in the jungle
all camps give you 100% exp
the way it used to be was if you were ahead in the jungle
let's say you were lvl 5 and the wolves camp was lvl 3,
you would have got reduced exp
and the way it is now- you always get 100% exp
so not only snowball in the jungle is way quicker
Rift Herald is way more much important
we've got adc's nerfs
because of that, midlane has changed as well
because if mid is so important, since it's basically middle alley
we can't let midlane loose
so on mid we also have to pick champs
that are strong, that can push
so your jungler can contest the Rift Scuttler
and so your toplaner doesn't have to worry that he will get towerdove
and the enemy will secure the Rift Herald,
so your botlane can farm, and won't get towerdove as well
so because so many changes were implemented into the game,
because Riot actually directed the game towards early game
it wasn't enough! you see?
because recently, I don't remember if it was 8.10 or some other patch
Nashor was changed
right now Nashor's got more health than before
before it had 10k hp at 20 minutes
now it has around 11 500 I guess, I don't even remember the exact number
but because they increased it's health
they heavely nerfed it's damage
so now you don't even need a tank, to tank it
so for top, you used to pick like ie. Maokai
so in mid-late game you'll be able to tank Nashor
now you don't need tanks, now you can play..
Swain, or Aatrox
and those champions don't lose that much health
in fact, everyone can tank Nashor in this meta
and nothing bad will happen
so because of all that.. getting back to the point
so because of all, all (...) these changes
not because of a single one
because there's no single change that would impact the meta that much
because of all these changes combined, that Riot introduced
the game has changed
Riot has always been changing the game, it's just Riot's politics
in order for a game to not become boring, it needs changes
changes were usually introduced once a year
but now Riot, instead of coming up with big changes every year
decided, that they are going to introduce lesser changes, but more often
so we've got a new meta now
- do I think it's changed for better or worse?
I personally have nothing against the way it has changed
now I can play whatever I want in the jungle
I can play carry, I can even play Braum as a support
the game is directed towards early game
the 1hour games are over
now the games last about 20 minutes, in solo queue as well as on competitive scene
some teams cannot play the typical defensive tactic, that's about playing defensive for 40 minutes
because Nashor can easily change the game
and it's easier to take Nashor, because it's easier to tank it
same with Herald- if you get it, and use it properly
you can take down two turrets
but ok, it's doesn't explain why nobody plays adcs
or honestly, it does a bit :)
- why noone plays adcs on botlane?
because they need too much gold to be effective
adc's are good after they have 3 items
Tristana, Jhin, Ashe, Vayne -
all those that need crit
become good after they built few items
one, two three..
one or two may not be enough, these champions need three items to become strong
so in this meta, we dont' see these champs being played
because in this meta, these champs bascially don't have the time to get the items
the meta is too quick
in current meta the game ends after 20 - 25 minutes
it doesn't mean you can't play these champions
still, on some lower elo
you can still play them, and you can make them somehow useful but..
I do not recommend that, because there are other 'playable' adcs
and that will be ie; Ezreal, Varus, Lucian
these adcs saw the light of day again
especially Lucian, that noone was playing for a long time
is playable, because he's got strong laning phase,
because he can dominate
and because he becomes strong with only one item
and once he gets second item- his powerspike
when he's got Black Cleaver and BotRK
then he becomes strong, and then you can basically make some plays
- and why do we have AP's on botlane?
simply because ap champions usually need levels, not items
Karthus on botlane /maybe not neceserally Karthus/
but Heimerdinger, Ziggs, Syndra, or some other ap champions
may have decent laning
may have solid damage from your abilities
and you don't have to give up your lane, because you can push
you can create some pressure
furthermore, you may pick carry on top
such as Camile, or Kled..
the game has become more interesting
in my opinion.. guys, in my modest opinion, the game has become more interesting
because of the changes that were made
although a lot of you complain about the meta, in which you can't play adc
I think there's no tragedy, because..
me as a jungler, I may have much more impact on the game
in the past, in 2017, duo-botlane was really an unbalanced thing
if botlane won, and you had like Janna+Tristana, the game was over
because there was no way to kill Tristana, with Janna's 50AD shield
and there was nothing you could have done
now, I think game has become much more balanced
of course- duo botlane can't carry games themselves
but in my opinion, in LoL there should be no role, that could carry the game by itself
in my opinion, LoL should be balanced enough so you have to..
so you have to win games together, not that one role can win games for the whole team
and that's the way it is now, you can pick Tristana
and the team can play around you, and try to stall the game for you
you can pick an early game jungler with mid and top
you can play for full snowball, and pick all the strong laners
or you can play something else, where botlane is supposed to push
and on the other hand- toplane is scaling
so in my opinion, saying that you can't play adc anymore is bullshit
in soloqueue you can usually play them, even though it's not a optimal choice
but remember that there will never be a situation, when every champion is playable
for Riot, it's hard to balance the game that good, to make every champion 100% viable
moreover..
Riot's already announced, they are going to nerf the Yi+Taric tactic
Braum+Kai'Sa etc..

- what's this tactic about, and where did it come from?
because they removed adaptive exp in jungle, as I said before
so even if you're super high level, you always get 100% of exp from minions & monsters
so if keep farming jungle and keep farming mid, all of a sudden you're level 11
when the enemy's jungler and mid are lvl 8
and suddenly you become super strong
it works only on hypercarries, that means on champs that can carry mid/late game
because it's worth to give the farm to this type of carries only
for example we played Kai'Sa on LCS, but there are people who play Master Yi
there were people out there, who played Karthus+Nunu
but to me, this combo is definitely the worst one
because in my opinion, it's really easy to kill Karthus and Nunu and win 2v2 with them
but you see, it's not an OP tactic
it's not a tactic without a counterplay
because the counterplay to this tactic, is that you've got terrible early game
taking Kai'Sa+Braum means you pretty much don't have a jungler
and then the enemy jungler can do whatever he wants
we were lucky, because we played against Nocturne,
who's not so good until level 6
but became popular because he can farm quickly
because he's can take extra camps (scuttler)
because he's got high damage thanks to <i>Lethal Tempo</i>,
which is definitely better than <i>Electrocute</i>
but it's not like..
it's still viable, alright?
even if you're playing against such champions you're still able to win because..
you can rule the early game
so in my opinion is much more interesting, it's just better
there are many more ways to play the game in this meta
there are more possibilities
and to me, gives much more fun
because even though I've played Braum so many times
I can also play Taliah jungle, who was changed in a way
I can play Camile, Nocturne
I don't have to worry about Janna/Tristana in enemy team
and if I won't win the game in 15 minutes then it's gg, because Tristana will have 2 items, Janna's shield and the game is over
so to me as a jungler, these changes are positive
adc players may cry, because they have less impact on the game indeed
but trust me, adc role was unbalanced, so..
the best teams from previous year, usually just had god-adc players in their team
plus they were picking Janna or Lulu,
and everyone was playing around Ardent Censer
the whole half of last year was Ardent Censer-based meta
luckly they nerfed it,
that's why all the shields have been nerfed
in my opinion- in a good way
the way they were nerfed is now it's harder to "make use of them", because they last shorter
two or three seconds, no more shields put on adc that last 6 seconds
and literally a support with no hands can click a button, don't care about anything
and basically the other guy's got extra health in a way
what are the heals for in this game?!
why would anyone pick Soraka, when shields are so op that..
ok- they don't heal, but you get a shield for 6 seconds, and no one will harm you within this time
but shields also give some bonus stats, not like Nami's or Soraka's heals
so now we've got Nami and Soraka, Soraka's back into the meta
Fiddlesticks came back to the game! (as a support)
because Fiddlesticks is good in meta, in which we've got a lot of squishy champs so..
I am happy!
I'm really happy the meta is what it is
there will be changes, for sure, because Riot's already announced that
as I was saying, the tactic with a jungler taking all the farm will be nerfed
I don't know how, Riot didn't say anything about how are they going to change it
maybe like if you have a machete(item), then you don't get 100% exp from minions
I have no idea
I hope they will come up with something really good,
something that neither I nor you would come up with
that would mean they are so amazing they can make the game just superb
and the nerf will really make sense
knowing Riot it's not going to be like this
the upcoming change is probably going to be so simple and obvious,
that everyone will grab their head
and they will flip the game upside down again
but I think in order for a game to be fun and interesting, it needs such changes
they are games out there, where nothing changes, and they eventually die
I don't think LoL is in danger of death
even though Fortnite's becoming more popular every day
In my opinion LoL and Fornite can co-exist, since they are two different games
in both games you can have fun
even if you don't enjoy the game in this meta
where you can't play Tristana and Janna every game
then maybe there are people that love playing Mordekaiser botlane, Taliyah jungle, Darius vs Irelia mid
and I don't know what else, tanks or carries on top
maybe they're having fun these days
so in my opinion guys, everything is down to us
as I said, I enjoy playing the game
at the end of this video- I hope I explained it well
although it was a bit chaotic I didn't have a list I could follow
because I wanted to "tell you live" my folks :)
I'm going to make a list now, of- in my opinion- the best champions right now

this is 8.12 as far as I know
so, the best champions in this patch
on top, in my opinion- one of the best champions
this guy...
because he's got good laning against everyone, and he's always ok
in my opinion- this lady... <i>(Poppy)</i>
came back to the game, but I don't know if I should put her here

ok, nevermind- but this guy.. <i>(Vladimir)</i>
and this guy... <i>(Mundo)</i>
who is a counter to the previous guy...
maybe some tanks...
<i>Ornn</i> is very good in this meta
gives you great engage, and everyone's squishy...
4 champions on top, so let's put down 4 champions in jungle...
nothing has really changed there,
<i>Xin Zhao'</i>s very good, <i>Nocturne</i>'s very good
<i>Talyiah</i> is superb, in my opinion
it's quite hard to master though, so it's not for everyone it's a bit more complicated
for those, who haven't seen me before, I've made a guide for Taliyah
which explains why it's working now...

you can play everything in jungle anyway..
same on top..
well in my opinion mid is one of the most important roles,
anyway- doesn't matter what role
it's way better to pick an early game champion

I think they are the best in this meta
they have great pressure, and scale well... (...)
Vladimir's also good...
Lucian's sometimes being played, sometimes not
I can recommend some of the 'superb combos'
but then you have to play duo-queue, or as 5-premade preferably
and would be good if you watched some guides first

on mid you can also play pretty much everything
next, ad carry...
or actually not ad carry, it says 'bot', not 'ad carry'
because bot doesn't mean 'ad carry' or 'marksman'
it's a role, that has different champions

we played Heimerdinger, I don't know if he's good or not- -I'll let you decide
<i>(Ezreal, Varus)...</i>
or some other early game adc
Ashe was played in Korea
I don't know if Ashe's that good, but she's not so bad at laning
there was Ryze/Vladimir in NA... loads of picks there
on support- there are many different combos as well
for example with Mordakaiser you can play...

a bit more aggressive support, such as Leona or Alistar
you can also play combos like
<i>(Vladimir + CC)...</i>
you can play 'basic' champions such as <i>(Varus+Lulu)...</i>
that still work fine, although it's not so good, because Varus doesn't need Lulu
for example if enemy picked Kai'Sa, you can pick Kog'Maw into her...
this list could go forever...
loads of good comobs...

Pykes a bit weak...
Alistar itself is super unbalanced, in my opinion it's one of the best champions
but you can also play shield-based champions, Janna, Morgana
(...)
Pyke's sometimes good, maybe Thresh... Bard not really...
so as you can see
this meta is much more interesting, because you play anything; anywhere
and all that crit-based champs like Tristana, Caitlyn, Vayne...
these champions are out of meta
but I think it's healthy
because these champs were being played all the time last year
now we've got new meta where everything's played on every position
we will see how Riot's going to handle that
if you don't like the changes, and you'll keep complaining
then I guess Riot will 'remove' these changes, or balance them somehow
because Riot's intention was to play bruisers/mages on botlane
plus- ad carry
and In my opinion so far, it worked out
not entirely, because not always you want to pick e.g. Tristana
Tristana is a great example, because it's this kind of champion that has late game, but sucks in early game
and maybe they'll just roll back the changes with item prices
because that was what hit adcs the most
the fact that Zeal is so expensive now, the fact that they need so much gold to get these items
if that was changed, maybe crit-based adc would be back
but on the other hand, if crit-based ad's were back
then maybe everyone would play crit again - I don't know
but the game's still about early game, so that wouldn't be necessary
