Waching daily Jun 22 2018

if you would look at psalms 126 for just a moment and I want to challenge this

church family and those that are watching us about television those that

are watching enough over the Internet I want to challenge you to look into this

this word for strength and an encouragement and renewal it psalms 126

it is often encouraged me and brought me through turbulent days and I want to

just briefly just X or portions of it and leave it with you as an opportunity

that you might be strengthened thereby can you say Amen Fonz ones when he

success when the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion we were like them that

dream then was our mouth filled with laughter and our tongue was singing then

says they among the heathen the Lord had done great things for them the Lord has

done great things for us well we are glad it is funny that sometimes you

don't recognize that the Lord has done great things for you until somebody else

says so and it was the heathens that begin to say the Lord has done great

things for them and it's almost as if it took them a while for for the children

of God to echo what was being said and they said you know what the Lord have

done great things for us we're we're land

watch this turn again our captivity Oh Lord as the streams in the south now

watch this carefully they that sow in tears

shall reap in joy this is about two thousand eight hundred and thirty-eight

people reported missing and then in the World Trade Centers they're people

who've got Tears unbelievable pain just beyond human comprehension

people were just at the end of the road lost loved ones and plane crashes and

then just at the Pentagon and just just distraught there are people who are

distraught today because they had financial a travesty lost their jobs

lost their income economy shaking everything shaking everywhere but the

Bible says they that sow in tears shall reap in joy it doesn't say that

everybody will reap in joy just those that sow in tears if you if you know

what it is to weep if you know what it is to have the kind of pain that feels

that if you cannot be confident if you know what it is to be at the end of your

rope and feel like your life is over and you've got questions that cannot be

answered and you're confused and you're uncertain you need to learn this verse

they say that with me they that sow in tears shall reap in joy oh this is good

it's getting good it's getting real but he that goeth forth and weepeth bearing

precious seed shall doubtless come again with rejoicing bringing his sheaves with

him

he that goeth forth and weepeth bearing precious seed shall doubtless come again

with rejoicing bringing his sheaves with him but but but if and I'm not really

going to preach but if I were going to preach I would have preached from the

first verse and the first word in the first verse says win

if if I were if I were if I had an opportunity to talk to the nation and to

talk to the world and to talk to the bereaved and to talk to the hurting and

to talk to the confused and to talk to the perplexed and to talk to the

frustrated and talk to the intimidated I wouldn't have to use the whole text just

the first word in the first verse when it said when that that that that would

be my text if I were gonna preach that the text would be win its me because if

he if he would have not said winning if it would have been if

it would have been totally different if he did if he would have said him he

didn't say if he didn't say where which would have indicated location

he did say wide to embrace uncertainty but he said when and though and the term

Winn leads me to the subject it's only a matter of time

I will never forget there's been many opportunities in my life that I have

grappled with grief and pain is so unbearable and so overwhelming that I

thought that I would never smile again I've seen days that were so dark for me

that I thought they're not possibly be a silver lining in the clouds that hung

over my head I've seen days and weeks and months that drugged me so low that I

gave up all hope of getting up again but in the midst of all of that despair and

that trouble and that trauma and that pain there was in the basement of my

soul this one word win you see that the writer here embraces an agricultural

metaphor to display a divine ability he talks about they that sow in tears shall

reap in joy so the process between sowing and reaping is a period and a

process that requires time and anytime you've been through trauma of any kind

it takes time to recover we we are indicating a year from September 11th to

this present moment and we're measuring time and yet nobody can say precisely

how much time it takes for tears to turn into rejoicing for mourning to turn into

dancing for a recovery to occur for for some people it may take two years for

somebody it might take two months for somebody it may take three years but

what you need to hold on to it's the first word win sooner or later there is

a turning point whereby God begins to strengthen you this turning point is so

intoxicating that the writer finds it difficult to

particularly the magnitude of the feeling that he had when things turned

around he says with the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion it was like

a dream it was surreal it didn't even seem possible I want to suggest to you

my brothers and sisters that what makes the mountains high is how low the

valleys are if you haven't had an extremely low recessed Valley in your

life then there is nothing for the mountain to protrude out of but even it

funny how life has peaks and valleys high places and low places almost like

riding a roller coaster you go solo and you drop down so low that you think you

won't come back up again but God has a way of lifting you up even when you

think that you can get up I feel like I'm on to something tonight while we're

talking about that just drop over the songs 137 and take a look at and add the

captivity and the feeling of captivity and the attitude of the National dilemma

that the people of God found themselves in and how they felt about it

in Psalms 137 it talks very candidly about the captivity of the Jews as they

entered into Babylonian captivity they never thought before they went into

captivity that this kind of thing can happen like our nation never thought

that this kind of thing could happen a false sense of security a shaking down

for the very foundations of their existence and suddenly they confronted

the fact that we are not untouchable and unreachable that we are vulnerable it

was this same sort of feeling in the text where they found and self snatched

out of their beds in Jerusalem pulled out of their safety their businesses

were pulled away from them families were separated and the historian records that

it was such a terrible time at this moment that the young men

were drugged away in Chains many of them had been castrated they had iron chains

wrapped around their ankles and when they left Jerusalem on fire headed from

Babylon blood was dripping down their legs from castrated out of the

horrendous event that shook all of us if there were anything positive that came

out of it it would have had to have been that our enemies and their attack upon

us made us recognize that we must stick together all around the Rome you'll see

people with t-shirts on they say united we stand that we is very important for

this nation that we transcends the color of our skin that we transcends our

economical sociological barriers that we transcends they're educated the

illiterate the high the low the up the down we because win the World Trade

Centers burst into flames and the Pentagon burst into flames and the

planes begin to crash it wasn't just white America

it was white America black America brown America rich America poor America

democratic America Republican America we all experienced it together and that's

why it is appropriate when the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion it

was like a dream then was our mouth filled with laughter and our hearts

began to say the heathens when God turns things

around he will bless you until even your enemies even your enemies will have to

know the Lord have done great things for us David says something that has

strengthened me all of my life he says by this I know that the Lord is with me

for he has not allowed my enemies to triumph over me they may fight but they

will win was amazing to me at that age to stand there in that situation and I

worked very hard to try to be articulate and to be effective and the minister and

whenever I have the responsibility of standing over a bereaved and grieving

family I tried to speak something that's encouraging but it was amazing to me

when I was on the other side of the funeral processional it was amazing to

me as I listened to people trying to say comforting things it was amazing to me

how little human words help you when your heart is bleeding I was shocked to

find how little attention you paid to a sermon and you really don't notice a lot

about the flowers and you really don't care how well the choir sings and you

really don't notice the cards like everybody thinks you do

it's not how elephant people speak that comforts you in fact one of the most

comforting things is just their care their compassion some times that

somebody would weep with you and feel what you feel and understand what you

understand and go through with you but even with that

and even with all of the elephants I found out that real grief real grief in

order to recover it's just going to take

time as I said they that wait upon the Lord

shall renew their strength they shall mount up on wings like eagles they shall

run and not be weary they shall walk and not faint the old folk said he may not

come when you want him to come but he's right on time it how much time does it

take preacher I don't know it takes as long as it takes I don't know how many

hours it takes for turnaround in your life but I do know this that weeping may

endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning can I get a witness

if you've ever survived anything just a little while longer and you're gonna

feel your fight standing back up in you again just a little while longer and

he's going to turn your mourning into dancing America just a little while

longer and we'll see that also how I got over

they're over my soul looks back and wonders

hello general I want you just to take a moment and

touch somebody just those of you this sold some tears this just a man in

telling my soul looks back and wonders how I got over I didn't think I was

gonna make it but I made it over I didn't think I could take it but I made

it over

we shall overcome we shall overcome we shall overcome we the blood wash the

sanctified the prayer warriors the Bible believing the Bible toting devil rebuke

a word standing believer we shall overcome some day so the next time you

run into the devil and he's laughing at you and steering at you and saying where

is your God and where is your faith and where is your victory and where is your

deliverance and where is your prosperity and where is your future and where is

your family and where is your joy just pull your watch out and say check this

out never

oh yeah yes yes yes yes keep your watch with you

keep it with you everywhere you go keep it by the bed so you can wake up in

the middle of the night and remind yourself that God's got a watch and he's

watching over you if he wants it over the sparrow he is watching he was

watching

and that's why I like that one word winning because it reminds me that God's

got a watch and maybe when it says that he's watching over me maybe it doesn't

just mean that he's watching over me maybe it means that he's watching over

me and devil it is only a matter of time stand to your feelings of the Lord play

some people tonight maybe your challenge is it September 11th

maybe your trouble was September 20th November the 3rd December the 5th

January the 12th February the 16th March the 20th April the 10th maybe your

calamity didn't hit when those 767 said the world for each sentence maybe yours

was later when something hits your house hits a marriage it child hits your

career and everything in your personal world begins to shake and maybe your

calamity has cost you the spiral downward and sometimes you're afraid you

won't get back

let not your heart be troubled

it's only a matter of time God has a way of watching

oh I gave my life to him and I'm so glad I did I wish I could tell you that

because I gave my life to Him I'm not vulnerable to any attacks but I've had

all kinds of them all kind and I probably will have some more so I didn't

come to Christ so I wouldn't have trouble came to Christ so the trouble

wouldn't have me you see the Bible says it didn't say that all things were good

what happened on September 11th God knows that wasn't good and maybe what

happened to you on April the 10th other than good

March the 5th November the 12th I don't know what the date was that you were

attacked all things are not good but it said all things work together

for the good of them that love the Lord who are the called according to his

purpose about 27 years ago he called me on a Tuesday night and a little

sanctified Church on the corner of 3rd and Stockton he called me

I wrestled but he called me I resisted but he called me I didn't think I was

ready but he called me and though I pulled against him with all of my might

he was far stronger than me he called me according to his purpose

I'm so glad that Tuesday night I stumbled up ow

came the Christ I'm so glad so that when things happen that weren't so good I was

comforted to know that he had a way of taking bad things and making them work

for good I'll be honest I play some days that I thought you I lose my mind

but just before I lost it he always

I've facing days I thought I wouldn't get up but he watched over me and he

brought me out on time I want to give you an opportunity you that are in this

room you that are watching by television you that are logged on the internet I

want to give you an opportunity to get to the altar whether the altars in your

living room by the couch there by the kitchen table or if you're in this room

you have an opportunity to come to this altar and kneel and pray America needs

to come back to God but let me tell you something

America geographically if just land dirt can you come to God no rivers nor

streams when we say America needs to come back

to God what does that mean buildings can't come to God the White House can't

come to God or the blue house for the Red House people come to God America

can't come to God too we come to go we said we will we remember I want

to call back sliders to repentance sinners to Christ with heads bowed and

eyes closed if you're in this room and you need a friend that sticketh closer

than a brother I'd like to recommend Jesus you're watching right now I'm not

television I'd like to recommend Jesus Christ to you right now you may have

been weeping all day frustrated all day at the end of Europe breathing all day

depressed all day he loves you it's only a matter of time if you come to him now

hit turn your life around he's waiting on you

shed his blood 2000 years ago so that you would have to go through this alone

family leaves loved ones leave they die they move they separate but he said I'll

never leave you nor forsake you why don't you come to him today

if you're in this building you should step into any aisle and come to this

altar Christ died for you he's waiting for you he loves you with an everlasting

love he loves you perfectly and completely he said he that come up to me

I will in no wise cast him out on September the 11th a day the enemy meant

for evil why don't you make it good and come to Christ today

would you come

come just this is cut you don't need a dollar you don't need a dad

Present conditions and history of inter-Korean family reunions - Duration: 2:33.

One of the most anticipated topics of today's inter-Korean Red Cross talks is the reunion

of separated families.

If things go well, families from the two Koreas will be given a chance to see each other again

on August 15th, as agreed in the Panmunjom Declaration.

Kim Mok-yeon reports.

The history of separated families on the Korean peninsula stretches back to the Korean War

in the 1950s.

Millions of people were separated from their loved ones, with many not even having a chance

to say a proper goodbye.

But with the efforts of the Red Cross from both sides, the first historic reunion was

realized in 1985 when Seoul and Pyongyang held performances on the sidelines of the

40th Independence Day celebration, allowing some 30 citizens from each country to meet

their war-torn families.

And 15 years later in 2000, state-run reunion events and exchanges between families officially

kicked off, after the two Koreas agreed to cooperate on humanitarian issues at the June

15 inter-Korean summit.

The first historic reunion was held on August 15 that year, and was followed by another

19 face-to-face reunion events over the next 15 years, allowing nearly 20 thousand members

of some 4,100 families to see each other again.

Aside from face-to-face meetings, other types of exchanges such as seven video reunions

and 600 letter exchanges have also been made.

However, since 2015, such reunion activities have stalled…and South Korea has been calling

for an urgent revival of the reunion events since last year,... as there may not be much

time left for some of these families.

As of the end of May, almost 57 percent of the estimated 130 thousand family members

on the waiting list for reunions have died, with more than 85 percent of the remaining

survivors aged above 70 years old.

The North, meanwhile, had been demanding the repatriation of 12 female North Koreans, who

worked at a restaurant in China and came to the South in 2016, as a condition for the

resumption of the event.

But with the thawing of relations between the two sides lately, and with President Moon

Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un agreeing on the Panmunjom Declaration, there

are high expectations that the family reunions will resume this year.

Kim Mok-yeon, Arirang News.

Classical Musicians React: AOA 'Elvis' - Duration: 9:49.

Lindsey: Yeah, their dancing is working super well with this.

Fiona: I wonder what Elvis would think about this.

[Rossini's Semiramide]

James: Yes.

Umu: Okay, so AOA stands for Ace of Angels.

U: They originally debuted in 2012 as an 8 member girl group under FNC Entertainment.

U: They debuted with a transformer concept, where they would appear alternately as, uh. Hugo: Where they were transformers.

U: Alternately as an actual rock band, who plays their own instruments, and then as a K-Pop group. Woah~

U: So we're about to react to their debut song Elvis.

U: The concept is that they are fallen angels, that's why they're called Ace of Angels.

U: They actually released two different versions, one is them playing their Instruments, and it's fully rock.

U: And then this one that we reacting to is their K-Pop music video.

Lindsey: 3, 2, 1.

Fiona: Lucifer is the original fallen angel.

L: Is that a thing? F: Yeah, that's who Satan is. L: Oh.

Jarod: Just check the landing in the heels.

Katie: Wow.

K: It's pretty impressive, actually.

Peyton: Quite literally fallen angels. Charlotte: Oh, they literally went with the fallen angels, like.

C: Here it is, smack you in the face!

P: Yeah, I was like, freaking meteor, woo BOOM! Bitch!

Hugo: Oh shit.

H: Oh fuck.

Charlotte: WHAT

Peyton: Wow.

P: That intro.

P: Nothing like what we're hearing now.

C: WHAT!? P: [Sings along]

Isaac: Woah!

Fiona: I like that like, they just sound so like, sassy and taunting, like "nanananana". Lindsey: Yeah.

F: Like, it's cute, it's just.

L: The like, midi instruments in the background are kind of mimicing their voices too, which is kinda cool. (F: Ooh I like this part.)

F: [Sings along] And there's like, chromaticism. (L: Joins in singing)

F: Sounds all sneaky.

Jarod: It has like the chromatic descent-ish thing.

J: Which could mean, the descent of the angel to the mortal world. Katie: The descent of angels.

Charlotte: They've got like, this Spanish influence underneath this hip-hoppy - (Peyton: Yeah.) C: I don't know how to -

Lindsey: This is very like, techno but that was like a midi saxophone or something.

Fiona: Huh, they look like Elvis. L: Yeah, they got that Elvis, that Elvis outfit.

Kevin: Help.

K: Help me.

K: Help.

K: Help me ah.

K: H-Help.

K: HELP.

Charlotte: I'm still not over this like, Latin hip-hop vibe they have.

Peyton: Uh.

C: See? P: It's the guitar. C: Yeah. P: [Guitar sounds]

C: Yeah! That!

Lindsey: Yeah, their dancing is working super well with this.

Fiona: I wonder what Elvis would think about this.

F: If he watched it.

Isaac: Ay! They're switching back to their instruments~

Charlotte: Oh! They're like, "Hey, drummer girl, we need you". Peyton: Yeah.

P: HeY, Big G, we need a drummer...can y'all send her down?

P: 3...2...1... aw, there she is! did you get lost on the way? alright get the drum-

Hugo: Diggin' that bass. Mm.

Jarod: It very much has like, almost like a punk-rock aesthetic, if that makes sense.

J: But like, borderline. Like, I would say like, more of a little flavor, a little spice.

J: Cause like, the chorus right now, feels very much like the traditional K-Pop chorus, but there's something about that seems a little different.

Katie: It's the bass that sounds like Seinfeld.

J: Ay~

Charlotte: [Sings along]

C: It's a, oh, it's Britney Spears!

Peyton: Yeah. C: Britney Spears.

C: They, they like sprinkled some Britney on this.

Fiona: Sounds like Britney Spears. Lindsey: I was just thinking it sounds like If You Seek Amy.

Charlotte: Okay.

C: This drummer girl is just there to drum? Cause I never see her dancing.

Fiona: What is this song about?

Lindsey: Elvis du-du du-du, don't you know? F: But, what does that mean?

L: It means Elvis du-du du-du, Elvis..

Katie: I like the [sings along]

Jarod: Little saxy saxophone.

K: That's pretty cool. J: Yeah.

Kevin: Okay, so that was amazing.

K: So like, right off the bat it was so in-your-face.

K: And it was so catchy.

K: And the rapping was so good.

Isaac: There was a rap? [Boy, where have you been]

K: There were two raps. [Umu & Kevin mimic rapping]

I: Daaaang, I missed it!

K: Then like, what? It was so, it was so -

K: And then like STRUM GUITAAAAAR

I: [Guitar sounds] K: Why, where did that come from?

K: And then like, it's just, it's just so hype.

K: And you know, sure, towards the second half of the song it doesn't vary as much. But, hey.

K: [Sings]

K: Right?

K: That's all you need in life.

I: I don't know, I just really like when there's really good bass.

K: Exactly.

I: so, euro- beats in general.

I: I don't know, I thought it was kinda weird to like, I, cause, all I can think about is Elvis Presley.

K: And there's like nothing resembling that. I: And it's just like nothing -

I: A-and I think it's because the name is so popular in America that it's just like,

I: Listening to it, it's just, I was very confused, every time they hit the chorus.

K: Well it's kind of like Moves Like Jagger, you know? I: Oh yeah.

K: And then you listen to actual Mick Jagger, and it's like country rolling stones. I: Yeah. K: So you're like, it's not -

I: Yeah, that's like if you knew Jagger and you listen to that, and you're just like,

I: Jagger, but why? You know?

I: So like, maybe my impression going into this was just like, "wrong".

I: Because I brought another culture into this.

I: But like, I don't know, that was interesting. They just, I -

I: They repeated a lot of stuff, like the baseline of B Flat, D Flat, G Flat, and F. [Sings]

I: And they just kept repeating. K: Uh huh. I: It is part of the melody line.

I: They kept repeating it to the point I'm just like, "Okay is there gonna be more development?"

I: Because, like, maybe it's just me, but if you repeat something, there needs to be some variation.

I: But even the variation needs to be good too.

I: it can't just be like, not following what you've already built.

I: If it's just like out of the blue, that has no connection to it, then that could sound very odd.

I: But for this, it's like, it sounded very repetitive, but I did enjoy the beats.

Katie: Well, musically it was really fun to listen to.

K: It had a lot of cool effects, like the the bass, and the sassy sax that -

K: But the text doesn't seem too deep, too much meaning.

K: Um, but the video was also really fun to watch. It was, it was like -

K: It didn't have a lot of substance.

K: But on the surface level it was really enjoyable.

Jarod: It's like candy, you know. It's nice and sweet. K: Yeah, that's a good comparison.

J: Alright, so it's like, it's interesting. Cause I mean, the text kind of, in a way, because it's like -

J: "Oh I fell for you, bla bla blah", and it's like I guess, if one were to consider this a tribute to like -

J: THE Elvis, I guess he had, kind of had that effect on people, you know, that I guess that

J: He was just so awesome that he could pull any angels from heaven to like

J: For you know, them to want him like the Elvis.

J: Or maybe it's more of a reference to an Elvis-type.

J: Like, maybe the Elvis archetype of a character, of a person.

J: So maybe not necessarily THE Elvis, but somebody who's like an Elvis, fits into that kind of mold.

J: And how like, they would come down from heaven to view the said person.

J: Because it's just kind of this raw, lustful love; kind of raunchy, bluesy, jazzy, sexy, saxy rub-a-luv-a-dub-dub, if you know what I'm saying.

K: RUBADUBADUBDUB!

J: So I don't know, that's just, yeah, it's kind of, it's kind of interesting.

J: So that's, that's Jarod's, uh, guess.

Lindsey: There were so many sounds.

L: And like vocalizations of things, and then just like making noises.

L: It was just like all over the place, but also not.

Umu: Right, and what musically did you feel was all over the place?

U: So it was like not the actual tune, but rather the instrumentals?

L: Yeah. Fiona: Like the vo - like, I don't know what they were - like, the vocals, like they, they had this random spot where they're like [mimics] L: Yeah.

F: They're like skatting xD L: Yeah, they, yes, that. F: I just like, I don't, I just like have no idea what the idea was behind - if there's a story.

F: Which I don't really think there is.

F: I think it's just more like the idea and like the, the feeling of the music, and like [dance] It's a good time, you know. L: Yeah.

Charlotte: Spanish flair, hip-hop, with a little bit of Britney and Sean Kingston thrown in.

C: That's how I'd describe this song.

Peyton: [Long exhale]

P: Yeah.

P: i don't know, that's, that's basically all the elements.

P: I, I like their melody choice, because the thing is, it's like, it's minor,

P: But like, it's one of those minor tunes that goes to like, a Major like, middle section very quickly. C: Yeah.

P: The way you construct a melody, it hasn't changed with the chords you know, yeah, it - C: Some modally mixture.

P: It ends up creating pretty interesting melodies like [sings]

P: Like, It's like, it's only like that weird like, minor vibe for like a second.

P: And then it's just like [BOOM], Major. Yeah.

P: Yeah that'll always like, if you take it out of context and it's just like, "What is this melody?", you know?

P: It's pretty interesting.

When it comes to establishing peace and seeking mutual prosperity, South Korean President

Moon Jae-in stressed how imperative Russia's role is in the region.

"Regarding Korea-Russia cooperation as the cornerstone of peace on the Korean Peninsula

and of prosperity in Northeast Asia, I have made wholehearted efforts thus far."

President Moon said the bilateral relationship between Seoul and Moscow is the key to open

the gates of Eurasia,... which the South Korean leader called a land of great opportunity.

"I believe our friendship will open wide the boundless possibilities of Eurasia."

The comments were made as President Moon made history,... delivering a speech at the State

Duma, the lower house of Russia's Federal Assembly on Thursday,... becoming the first

South Korean President ever to do so.

During the speech, President Moon noted his Russian counterpart's vision of an era of

peace and co-prosperity among Eurasian nations,... or the 'New East Policy' is in sync with his

own 'New Northern Policy',... the Moon administration's key diplomatic policy to expand South Korea's

diplomatic and economic horizons with its Eurasian neighbors.

According to President Moon, such efforts would see the two countries developing new

growth engines while Seoul keeps its promise to develop Russia's Far East.

President Moon said the Korean people's desire for peace and prosperity is not limited to

the Korean Peninsula but involves all of Northeast Asia.

And with that, President Moon introduced his vision for a trilateral partnership between

Seoul, Pyongyang, and Moscow.

"Once a peace regime is established on the Korean Peninsula, inter-Korean economic cooperation

will be accelerated and expanded into three-way cooperation with Russia.

President Moon identified railroads, natural gas, and electricity networks as the most

promising sectors for cooperation among the three countries.

10 Extreme Construction Fails - Duration: 11:31.

10 Extreme Construction Fails Number 3 will get you heated

# 10 Beth Ray

The Vdara hotel in Las Vegas was constructed in 2008 and soon after the grand opening guests

began reporting that the building was giving them severe sunburns.

Architects of the Vdara failed to consider how the massive, curved glass structure would

reflect the desert sun's powerful rays.

They built what is now effectively a 57 story magnifying glass and the hotel guests are

essentially ants.

The reflection from the Vdara traverses the pool area over the course of day and is so

intense that it is able to singe hair and melt plastic.

Hotel employees have dubbed the phemomenon the "Vdara Beth Ray".

The designers have installed a high-tech film on the windows in an attempt to diffuse the

robust reflection but guests continue to report burn incidents.

Currently a system of giant blue umbrellas is being used in the pool area to protect

guest but due to the Earth's changing rotation the "hot spot" changes every day.

Unfortunately for guests, their sun burns won't stay in vegas.

#9 Dam Shame Back in 1976 the new Teton dam in Idaho was

being filled for the very first time.

It had been constructed to provide flood protection, irrigation water, electrical power and an

area for water recreation for the surrounding population.

Moronically the construction company had used a permeable material know as, loess soil in

the construction core which facilitated internal erosion of the structure.

And on June 7th at 11:57am the dam burst!

It sent 251K acre-feet of water into the Teton River Canyon as you can see in this video.

The water shot out at a whopping 2million cubic feet per second!

This flood would have sent Noah running for the hills!

Downstream farmland and towns were completely flooded causing an estimated 2 billion dollars

in damages.

11 people and 13,000 cattle lost their lives.

No attempts have been made to rebuild the dam and its remnants still stand today as

a reminder of this catastrophic failure.

#8 BridgeGate

In Minneapolis MN the Highway I-35 crosses the Mississippi river.

This 8 lane Freeway is supported by a steel truss arch bridge that was built in 1967.

In 1991 and 2005 the bridge was deemed "structurally deficient" by government regulators.

The reason for this designation is that designers had used metal plates that were too thin as

a junction for several of the supports.

Then 575K extra pounds were added to the bridge when the state decided to install concrete

structures to separate the east and westbound traffic.

The final straw that broke the bridges back came on August 1st 2007 during rush hour traffic

when approximately 100 vehicles were on the structure.

The 19 hundred food bridge suddenly collapsed sending vehicles and 18 construction workers

down 115 feet to the river.

13 people lost their lives and 145 were injured.

After a 5 year legal battle over the collapse, the design firm responsible for the bridge,

settled with the state of Minnesota for 8.9 million dollars.

#7 The leaning tower of Frisco

In the City by the bay there sits a 58 story skyscraper known as Millennium Tower.

This building is San Fancisco's 4th tallest skyscraper and contains over 400 multimillion-dollar

condos.

Completed in 2008, Millenium Tower features top of the line amenities such as a movie

theater, fitness center, pool and a even a wine cellar/tasting room.

For all of its luxurious perks, this opulent tower has one glaring fault.

ITS SINKING!!!

In addition to being conveniently located on the San Andreas Fault one of the most active

earthquake zones on the planet, the city of San Francisco sits on a thick layer of sand.

Now instead of driving a steel structure deep into the bedrock, which is the popular method

for most San Fran buildings.

The designers of millennium tower elected to use a concrete frame that digs only into

the top sandy layer below the foundation.

As of 2018 the building has sunk 17 inches.

It has tilted six inches to the north and 14 inches to the west.

It is estimated that retrofitting the structure will cost up to 500 million dollars and residents

say that because the building is sinking their multimillion dollar condos are nearly worthless.

It's a classic case of buying high and selling low.

#6 Good Windows Hunting

Boston Massachusetts, the city known for loving sports and hating tea, is home to the infamous

John Hancock Center.

Standing at 60 stories, the John Hanckock Center is Boston's tallest building and

is an iconic part of the city's skyline.

The pecadillo for this particular tower is that during construction in 1971 the building's

enormous 500 pound windows began popping out of their frames and plummeting to the streets

below.

Literally hundreds of windows were raining down on the city.

During a single windstorm in January 1973 over 70 windows were pulled loose of their

frames.

One Boston resident was quoted saying "the windows are falling down wicked hard top parked

cars".

The problem was so bad that any time winds exceeded 45 miles per hour, police had to

shut down the building's surrounding area.

The window issue persisted for 4 years and every single window had to be replaced at

a cost of 7 million dollars.

#5 Shanghai….Shanglow

During June of 2009 the Lotus Riverside Complex in Shanghai China was under construction and

over half of the complex's $60,000 units had already been sold.

The workers showed up one morning to discover that one of the 11 complex buildings had toppled

over!

Inspectors found that the collapse was due to the pernicious and destructive substance

Dihydrogen Monoxide.

Know colloquially as rain.

During construction workers had damed the river adjacent to the building site.

This myopic move failed to consider how the dam would withstand increased water flow.

Because of a heavy storm upstream the river level rose, spilling over the dam and into

the building's underground parking structure.

The foundations soon gave way, causing the entire structure to fall.

The Chinese government was furious and arrested 9 officials.

6 of which were later found guilty of negligence.

#4 Wobbledy Wobbledy Wo Wobble Wobbin Back in 1940 when the Tacoma Narrows Bridge

in Washington State opened it was the third largest suspension bridge in the world!

To cut costs, the construction company used cheap girders to support the structure.

This frugal decision ultimately lead to the bridges…downfall.

Because of its weak support the Tacoma Narrows Bridge would constantly sway during construction

earning it the nickname of "Galloping Gertie".

As you can see in this famous footage, after the grand opening, the bridge continued to

do the twist like a dunk aunt your cousin's wedding.

4 months after construction, on November 7th, the suspension couldn't hold on any longer

and the bridge collapsed under the force of 40 mile per hour winds falling 190 feet to

the river below.

After the disaster, bridge builders took extra care to incorporate aerodynamics into their

designs.

Subsequently wind tunnel testing of bridge designs has become mandatory in the U.S. Eventually,

a new bridge was built in 1950 which featured deeper stiffening trusses and a wider road

to reduce the effect of strong winds.

# 3 Brooklyn's hottest playground

As we all know from the Notorious BIG spreading love is the Brooklyn way.

However the playground structures in the borough's new park have been spreading something else…Pain.

In the hot summer months parents are complaining that their children are bursting into tears

when they attempt to climb over the playground's steel play equipment.

In the direct summer sunlight the steel can climb to temperatures of 127 degrees which

is hot enough to fry an egg!

Parents are understandably upset over this gross oversight.

Trees have been planted near the equipment in an attempt to block the out the sun.

However critics are skeptical that the trees will be effective in alleviating the intense

heat.

What is clear is that for the burned children, there will be no sleep til ointment.

#2 Busted Dubai is home to the world's largest shopping

mall, aptly named The Dubai Mall.

The mall features the famous Dubai aquarium.

It is absolutely HUGE with 2.5 million gallons of water and 33,000 fish.

But due to an improper application of acrylic cement during construction, just two years

after it's completion the aquarium sprung a massive leak.

As you can see in this video, hundreds of gallons of water gushed into the mall.

Shoppers fled from the building to the outside parking lot where emergency vehicles soon

arrived.

The central portion of the mall had to be evacuated.

Eventually 6 divers and some workmen were able to seal the leak and mop up the stagnant

water.

Luckily no fish or people were injured, however the mall's pride was dampened.

#1 You're in Trouble Coming in at number one on our list is the

notorious opening day at Wrigley field for the 2015 Baseball season.

The sounds that are typically associated with baseball such as people singing take me out

to the ball game and fans complaining about $18 beers were drowned out by jackhammers

and power drills.

At the time, Wrigley field was under repair and calamity struck due to the construction

closing all but two of the stadium's public bathrooms.

Throughout the game getting in and out of the bathroom was no short stop!

The wait time for the men's room was over 45 minutes.

Desperate fans of the lovable loser resorted to extreme measures by using paper cups as

portable urinals which were then left scattered across the stadium walkways.

On that fateful afternoon, falls weren't the only thing that were foul.
