"You take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?"

"I don't care, do you?" [ As Trump ] "No."

[ Normal voice ] After Melania Trump was spotted

wearing the jacket, her spokesperson said, quote,

"It's a jacket. There was no hidden message."

Hidden? It was literally spelled out.

That's like saying, "If you play an Aerosmith song forwards,

it contains hidden messages about love in an elevator."

President Trump tweeted today, quote, "Democrats want

open borders where everyone can come into our country and stay.

This is Nancy pelosi's dream."

Which is completely untrue, because you can't have a dream

if you never close your eyes.

The "L.A. Times" has published a profile on a 29-pound

stray cat named Chubs.

So to those mean kids on the subway today,

no, I'm not the world's biggest pussy!

Hundreds of people gathered at La Guardia airport last night

to welcome migrant children who have been separated from

their parents at the border.

And if you don't think that's a big deal,

you've never asked someone to pick you up at La Guardia.

Kinkakuji Kyoto's Golden Temple in Japan - Duration: 4:13.

Today, we will visit Kyoto's

golden, shimmering pavilion

at the 'Kinkakuji Temple.

We will share fascinating symbolism

and the best time to visit.

Kin is Japanese for gold.

So, Kinkaku-ji literally means

the Temple of the Golden Pavilion.

The Kinkakuji Temple is a Zen Buddhist Temple and

UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Of the three types of Buddhism,

Zen is the practice to reach Awakening

by sitting down and meditating.

At the Kinkaku-ji Temple

you immediately see the Golden Pavilion,

where the top two floors of the pavilion

are coated in shimmering gold leaf.

The gold was used to purify any pollution

or negative thoughts and feelings about death.

The Gold Pavilion is beautifully reflected

in the Kyōko-chi, known as the Mirror Pond.

Built in 1397,

the Golden Pavilion was the only structure

in the Kinkakuji Temple to

survive the Onin War of 1467.

The Pavilion also survived World War II

because Kyoto was not one of the cities

bombed during the war.

But in 1950,

a novice monk suffering from Schizophrenia

burned the pavilion down.

At his trial,

the monk said he set fire to the pavilion

because he hated all beautiful things

Author Yukio Mishima wrote a recreation of the tragic events in his famous book,

The Temple of the Golden Pavilion.

For the most beautiful reflections

of the Golden Pavilion,

go when the sun is at an angle,

such as 9 to 10 in the morning

or 3 to 4 in the afternoon.

If you go at noon,

the sun will be directly above the pavilion

and you will miss seeing

the beautiful reflection.

The Phoenix sitting on top of the pavilion

brings goodwill as it comes down from heaven.

The Phoenix has also been known

to symbolize the empress.

Unfortunately, you will not be able to go into the pavillion.

Instead, you will continue on a one-way path

covered with small pebbles through the gardens.

I highly recommend wearing closed toe shoes.

Passing by small statues,

people will try to throw their coin into the bowl

for good luck.

Also, through the garden,

you will pass by the Toryumon Waterfall,

called the Dragon Waterfall

and also known as the Gateway of Success.

(The rock represents the fish.)

Legend has it that a fish that can swim up

the waterfall will turn into a dragon,

the symbol for the highest military rank.

The only fish that can complete this journey

and become a dragon is the carp.

The samurai is the carp

and the shogun is the dragon.

You will end your visit at Fudo Hall

containing Fudo Myo-o,

the guardian of Buddhism and

one of the Five Wisdom Kings.

The Fudo Myo-o statue is considered sacred

and is hidden from view.

Plan on spending one to two hours

at the Kinkakuji Temple.

It is open every day from 9 to 5

and costs 400 Yen.

The temple is known to get extremely crowded,

especially on holidays.

To avoid the crowds,

arrive as early as possible.

To use the subway,

it takes 15 minutes

from Kyoto Station to Kitaoji Station.

Then from Kitaoji Station

either take a 10 minute taxi for 1000 Yen,

or take the 101, 102, 204 or 205 bus for 230 Yen.

It takes 40 minutes to get to

Kinkakuji Temple by bus.

From Kyoto Station,

go to bus stand B2 or B3 and

take the 101 or the 205.

Ask the worker there

to make sure you get on the correct bus

because the 205 has two options.

The 205 bus that says Rapid on the front

will not take you to Kinkaku-ji Temple.
