(hip hop music)

- Uber for Teyana?

- Yes. - Hey, how are you?

- What's going on?

Okay T, so we're on our way to a BETX performance.

I'm ready for you to bring it,

all on the stage. - All on the stage.

- Putting it all together.

Tell me about the Teyana Taylor legacy.

- Just, of course, to inspire people, you know,

to just not be afraid to be real,

not be afraid to be difficult if that's what they call it.

Cool.

- [Amanda] At the end of the day, we represent ourselves.

- [Teyana] Exactly.

G3 Interview 2018 - Joe Satriani, John Petrucci & Uli Jon Roth - Duration: 24:19.

Hi it's Saturax from JoeSatrianiUniverse.com.

I am with Uli Jon Roth, John Petrucci and Joe Satriani just before the G3 show tonight.

What's the most exciting part about the G3 show?

I think the camaraderie among the musicians is always the best thing about the G3.

Everybody, here tonight at this venue, all the musicians want to put on a great show.

We all are interested in each other, how we play, what we're going to come up with tonight

on stage, what we're going to improvise with…

Well the jams are always very interesting.

That's the highlight of the night, at the end when we are all playing together and trade

off.

That's always so much fun, and it's interesting, we learn from one another and experiment.

For me personally it's the jam, because in solo concerts we always play our music

and it's interesting, but jamming is more interesting because you never know what happens.

It starts with the very first show, and it just gets better and better every night, so

it's always that camaraderie, I think that's the best part.

It's interesting for me as I'm a guitar player who's in a band, most of the time

in Dream Theater touring, and playing without to do... to playing it different set up, as

a trio instrumental.

It's interesting, it's cool, it's good exploration for me as a guitar player.

Why did you choose Uli and John to play along with you?

Well it's interesting, in earlier interviews when I talked about G3 and the opportunities

that exist when you put together G3.

Also there were the issues of trying to get people together who never played with each

other before, and may have some very interesting chemistry once you can kind of get them together.

So in the case of John Petrucci and Uli Jon Roth, there are two guys that I've played

with on G3s before, but the two of them have never played with each other before.

I just had an instinct that they would have a lot of things in common, and that their

differences and their musical routes would actually create a lot of positive energy.

So that's been the case, they come from two different worlds and yet, their common

love of the guitar and music in general really is where they bond.

It's really exciting to see that happened.

Once I had the idea of getting the two together, I think things moved pretty quickly.

What's your favorite song from John and Joe?

I don't really have favorite songs, I wouldn't know.

There's one that Joe plays every night, which I don't know the name of.

*laughs* I barely know my own song names so you're asking the wrong guy.

When John plays, I think it's "Glasgow Kiss", which is always spectacular and he

also told me the story of what it means, which I didn't know.

With Uli, "The Sails of Charon" I've always loved, he closes with that song so

when it plays it it's awesome.

Joe has so many great songs in his repertoire but I have a very soft spot for "Always"

when it plays it because it's so beautiful.

It's always amazing, he's spot on and it was also the wedding song for my wife and

I, so…

It's a very special song.

I love it every night.

I don't think I have any #1 favorites.

It's funny I get asked that question all the time, everytime I go on G3 shows.

People always ask me "what's your #1 favorite song" and I would think "well I don't

have a favorite song because I don't relate to the musicians that way".

If I was just a fan, I could probably answer that question.

But because I know the musicians, I kind of look past the materials that they do and could

talk for hours about the different technical things that they do, and how they apply their

feelings and their emotions to the guitar.

That's what I hear every night, I play with them every night on stage, I listen to their

shows every night, it goes way deeper than just me sitting around going "mmh wonder

what they're going to that song" *laughs* I don't even know.

Half of the time, they're playing out different songs from their catalogues and I don't

even know what they are because I'm not familiar with everything they've always

done, their catalogue is so big.

What was your main motivation to play guitar, practice every day, and become one of the

best guitar players?

Well, my main motivation was just Jimi Hendrix, I love Jimi Hendrix.

When I was a young kid and when he died I decided to become a guitarist.

I learned right away that I wasn't very good and that guitar playing was extremely

hard, so I had to practice every day.

That was the only way to accomplish my goal, just to play as much as possible, to try to

play in front of as many different people as possible, and try to play with as many

different people as possible.

It was really just my love of music and guitar.

I just wanted to play.

I never really had a motivation, I never questioned it as a "why", it was very obvious for

me, omething that was totally natural.

And I guess I was born with a certain kind of destiny and when they came, I thought "that's

what I'm going to do".

It's hard to sort of explain.

When I was a teenager I started playing guitar a lot.

It kinda just hooked me, it's something that I started to learn and I was pretty good

at it.

I was always a creative type of personality, and so I would always draw or paint or write,

so getting into music was felt like a very natural thing for me.

The process of learning never ends, which is another reason why G3s are so great.

All three of us are learning from each other every night, we are all dedicated for life

to becoming the best musicians we could ever be.

You know, once I got into it and I started realizing I could make music on the guitar,

I was learning from a lot of the bands I looked up to and admired.

I was learning a lot of music and getting better and better and it just kind of… you

know, from that time in my mid-teenage years, it just hooked me, and it just continues to

be something that I love to do, I love the creative aspect, I love the performance aspect

and I love the craft, I'm just trying to get better and better and top what you do.

It's a little bit of an athletic aspect to it, which is great.

It's just challenging and fun.

I've never asked any questions regarding this.

I just did it.

And it was very easy.

*chuckle* From the beginning.

The guitar playing is the easy part.

Then there's stuff that's not so easy.

*chuckle* Guitar playing is more like a holiday.

From life.

Are you planning to record a new solo album?

That's a very good question.

People ask me that a lot, because the only one I really have is "Suspended Animation"

that came out in 2005.

I have material to do a new solo album, I'm playing some new songs live on G3 currently

so it's just a matter of finding the time to be up to record them.

After this tour, after a very quick break in May, Dream Theater comes back into the

studio and we start working on our new album.

So it's really hard to find that chunk of time to get in there and record.

And what could be the next album you're planning to record ? Maybe the Dream Theater?

Yeah, that's the next one.

We will be writing that over the summer and record it through the fall.

That should come out early 2019.

I am planning but my problem is that I have so much touring to do all the time and there

is very little time literally to be in the studio.

I've written a lot of music, but doing an album for me is always quite a protracted

affair, it just takes long.

I'm not one of these people who just walk into the studio and two weeks later you have

an album.

It's more of the opposite, because I'm never satisfied with the results and I don't

really particularly enjoy recording albums.

So for me it's always hard work and it has always been hard work, and that's why I

don't know when the next one will be finished.

You know, I just released "What Happens Next" just a few months ago, and so usually

when I finish that process of making a record and releasing it, I like to take a good number

of months off the mental process of having to dream up a new album, because it can be

very draining.

It's more fun at times to just go out and be a performer, just think about playing music

and not worry about having to construct a whole new concept for a new album because

I just did it, right.

So for now "What Happens Next" will stay with me for a good year and anything else

I'm working on will be just one song at a time, so I'm not tied to any project.

Is there any signature gear on its way?

On its way…

Well I have a very robust collection of signature gear that really reflects all of the instruments

that I've been playing since I was really young.

Including Ernie Ball Music Man guitars which has been eighteen years now, with Sterling

Ball and its family.

We're always working on innovating and creating new things as far as that is concerned.

But we're working on an 8-string version, and I'm not sure of the schedule of that

but that should be forthcoming in different versions of the Majesty guitar which has been

our most successful model.

And so you'll see the new aesthetics and colors, combinations and special things with

that in 2019.

Mesa Boogie, my signature Boogie is a dream come true, I've been playing Mesa Boogie

since I was a kid, and to have one that has my signature, it's the only Mesa Boogie

signature amp that's in regular production.

It's just such an honor.

You know, I took a break from concentrating on panels, and amps, and all that kind of

stuff because most of what I was using was really not moving forward, I was just getting

more out of it.

A good example is the Marshall JVM410HJS.

That amplifier is so good, so complete, that for me, to just try to do yet a new amp just

a few hours after this one's been out seems a bit funny.

It's been out for a couple of years but it seems just like hours and it takes a while

in the amplifier market, for people to understand exactly how to use something.

People are still trying to figure out how to properly utilize a 5150.

It was a great amp when it came out but most people just thought it was a Van Halen amp

but then it suddenly became "the metal amp", in the hardcore amping.

But I've used that amp quite a bit in the studio, it's a beautiful modulatic amp.

It takes time for people to understand how to use an amp of ours, so…

I have my signature guitar, the Sky Guitar.

That's quite a lot of signature you know, because we have several models on the market,

and recently I've formed my own company called UJR Sky Guitars.

We are building them to order, they're all hand-built, and there are only so many that

people can do in a year.

Which is also why they are very expensive, but for me they're my favorites and I can

do anything with these guitars.

They are pretty amazing for me.

They're not for everyone but, there's two types of players : some pick up a Sky

guitar and it works, some other people maybe won't be able to handle it.

This guitar has seven strings, an extended range…

Yeah there are some 7-strings and they all have an extended range, that's why they're

called "Sky guitar".

And then DiMarzio with the pickups, I've been working with them since forever and ever.

Dunlop, with my guitar picks and Wahs.

TC Electronic, that is another company that I remember being a teacher on Long Island

where Joe is from too in a music store, and getting into TC, and to have my own signature

pedal with them is amazing.

So basically this is all the gear that I used, all the companies that I used when I was younger

and got attached to, and then kind of made connections with all the people who run those

companies and own those companies, and kind of became part of their family.

The proof is in the fact that I have been with all of them for so long, so we're always

developing new things.

But as far as I know, to get back to your question, is there anything new specifically

? I guess the latest and newest thing is the guitar pick with Dunlop that we just came

up with.

It's part of their "Flow" series and it's a 2.0mm pick, that I keep telling everybody

that if you use it, you will become 30% faster on the guitar *laughs* I gave one to Joe and

Uli and Mike Keneally, they're all having fun with it.

Anyway, that's the latest thing that we came up with a couple months ago.

I've concentrated mainly on the Ibanez guitars, we really wanted to get the older body 24-fret

sustainiac models out there, and so now we have two of them out there.

We have the Muscle Car Red and we have the re-issue of the Chrome guitar.

I've got them both on tour, they sound great, they play great, they're really good tools

for anybody who plays any kind of music on the guitar, so that's been my main focus

for the last two years.

You haven't released a songbook since Unstoppable Momentum, where are they?

I don't know.

You know, I don't read songbooks so I have little interest in it and so I know that publishers

have their own business model for figuring out why they should put out a book and why

they shouldn't so… *laughs* YouTube has destroyed the publishing market when it comes

to manuscripts and tablatures because it seems pretty silly, when a phone can record exactly

how you play something.

People learn so much faster by just looking at a video.

The printed pages… unless you're dealing with a score that lasts for thirty minutes,

it's silly to refer to manuscripts for something that's only four and a half minutes long,

you know what I mean ? Times are changing, it's 2018, that just the way it is.

*laughs*

Thank you very much Uli for having us, and I leave you the final words.

Well, the final words…

We're here in France, and it's always a pleasure to play in France for me.

I have a long history of playing in France ever since 1975 I think, and it's always

been one of my favorite places to play, so I'm glad we're doing this extended G3

tour here, we're playing so many shows in France as well.

Maybe later this year or early next year I'll come back with my own tour, and we're doing

an anniversary tour because this year is the 40th anniversary of Electric Sun.

Electric Sun was quite strong in France back in these days, in the 80s.

And we're going to do a set of nothing but Electric Sun numbers, haven't done that

for a long time, but people have always asked me "why don't you do that" you know,

and now the time has come so I'm looking forward to that.

I think it will probably be around october/november.

Probably.

Great, thank you Uli.

I hope to see you there.

Thank you.

It's great to be here in France.

Dream Theater comes here to France a lot, every tour in Europe we always play Paris

and sometimes we'll play in another city but on G3, I think we're playing 6 shows

in the country of France, in all these areas that I've never been before, including here

in Bordeaux.

So it's kind of interesting and fun for me to see different parts of the country as

opposed to the main city of Paris.

I'm looking forward to play to new fans, and it's great to finally be a part of G3

in Europe, because I've done many G3s, probably around seven or eight of them all over the

world, but never in Europe - this was my first time.

So it's been fun playing to friends and fans, and all these countries that I've

been to so many times, but never with G3.

So, thanks for all the french people.

Thank you for coming.

Cool.

And thank you to Joe for inviting me every time because I would always say yes because

I love Joe, and he's the best.

So, thank you to Joe.

Thank you Joe.

The final words?

*laughs* What could they possibly be?

Well the final words- am I looking there?

I'm looking there?

People at home don't realize that you got a furry little thing at the top of the camera

that looks like a little rabbit.

*laughs* So my final message to you is : figure out how to film the little grey rabbit on

the top of the camera so the people at home know what I'm looking at.

*laughs* The other thing is, it's very unusual to do an interview to someone who's sitting

right here, because then you have to turn this way, but then there's two cameras here.

So, it'd be easier if the interview was there, because you would look right over there.

These are the things people at home don't think about, but they wonder "why are there

two people sitting next to each other" and, you know… it's sort of awkward isn't

it ? *laughs* That's why you need another- you need an assistant!

Yes!

You should ask him to get you an assistant.

And then they could be holding the camera over there.

Or one over here.

behind the headshot, like they do in news programs.

*laughs* Thank you Joe.

O.K. thanks guys.

I talked to your doctor

With the doctor you recommended me. - OK well.

It was good

We agreed to see each other in a couple of weeks. - Very good

So I want to ask you some questions as a doctor

Tell me

I like a girl who is going to go to the party now and I don't know how to face it

I don't understand why you say you want my opinion as a doctor

When I was little I didn't like playing with dolls

I don't like tight clothes

my body doesn't ...

nothing nothing nothing of what it is as feminine I like

The boys are ordered to do cool sports

and the girls force us to do nonsense

But I would not be comfortable with men either, it's not like that

it's like everything is divided between one thing and another

and I don't fit in any

If something scares you, or you have doubts, you have to do it. It is the only way to overcome that fear

And if you make a mistake, nothing happens, you have to do it.

Hello

What's up?

Hey, how are you with Thomas?

No, nothing. We were dating but it became toxic and I left he

May l?

Do you want some...

No, I don't use that

No, she doesn't...

Juani, and you what? Do you like women? ... Men?

Women

Direct. And you?

Boys

What's this girl doing, Amparo? It's a little weird, is not it?

The interrogation that she made us in the party ...

She becomes friendly, but looks at us as if we were an experiment

Anyway, I answered anything

I don't know if I liked girls or boys ... what do I know?

The question was strange to me. It's my life, why are they meddling?

It was out of place ... I don't know, I was bothered by the question.

Hey, hi, how are you, Emma?

How are you my love?

Good more or less

What happens?

Is Juani?

We can talk?

Yes, are you okay?

Let's talk for a while, ok?

Yes, you can stay, but you have to call your mom to say you're okay

I'm fine

Mom mom mom Can you stop screaming at me?

Are you one of those who disguised as anime? You meet...

No I don't

They disguise themselves, cover their faces with makeup

Just you are going to cover your face, with how beautiful you are?

I'm going to sleep with my mother

No Juani, it's your room, stay, it doesn't bother me.

What happened?

I prefer to leave her alone

Hello Emma, good morning my love. Do you want coffee?

Okay thanks

Do you want to tell me how are you?

how are you with the theme of your mother, to see if I can help you.

She really ... I don't know, she wants me to be perfect

or what she thinks is perfect

Have you already started with the interrogation mom?

No, we are chatting. Who will it be? Coco?

Is she here, right? Don't tell me no, because Luli told me

There you are, there you are

You are an idiot?

Look at me imbecile, do you know the bad moment you're making me and your dad pass?

Do you know where your dad is? he is in the police station

Don't yell mom

Don't tell me what I have to do

It's not about what she's telling you, it's about what she's not telling you

See what she is saving, decipher it, meet your daughter

I'm telling you, I'm always wrong because I didn't have a mother.

I didn't know that.

So I'm learning with my daughter

Juani

yes, what?

some time ago....

something is happening to me

that confuses me, what scares me a little too

It's okay

Stop, stop

It's the first time I kiss a girl

It's also the first time I'm with a girl, and I'm not sure what I have to do, sorry

I loved it anyway

Yes me too

The guys invited me to the bar

Go, it's okay

No, but come, come with me

What happens? Did you come out of the closet to take a walk?

Yes, although to be with people like you maybe we'll go back

Why don't we become friends?

Since we share a girl, I can show you what things she likes, where to touch ...

No need, she kisses better than you

Hey how old are you? Are you sure you are 18?

I say it because with those comments you look like my grandfather

Look, what I said to them when they arrived was a joke, okay?

If they want to love each other, ok, I don't care

Great, then start closing your mouth, ok?

What about Emma?

Good

good?

very good

And Emma, she stayed to sleep?

No mom, no

Okay

I know, believe me I know. I think a lot about everything I did to her.

But I was very confused, I don't know ... I was an idiot

I talked a lot with Juani about this, and she forgave me, she's giving me another chance

and you don't know how happy I am, don't condemn me please

perfect

so you trust me, I will not tell you anything about this talk

because you know that she will kill you, ok?

Koko, the Gorilla Who Knew Sign-Language, Dies at 46 | What's Trending Now! - Duration: 3:53.

Koko, the gorilla who communicated to humans through sign language, and greatly

broadened our understanding of the cognitive abilities of gorillas, has died

at the age of 46. You're watching What's Trending, I'm Shira

Lazar. We're at VidCon 2018. Be sure to like this video and subscribe

for more social media news daily. The Gorilla Foundation announced that Koko

died in her sleep on the morning of June 19th, just a few weeks before her 47th

birthday. Koko was born at the San Francisco Zoo on July 4, 1971, and was

given the nickname Hanabi-ko, that means "fireworks child". Doctoral student Penny

Patterson became a great companion to Koko, and initiated the idea that would

change our understanding of gorillas forever. As Koko grew stronger, Penny

considered a revolutionary idea. The young doctoral student and the

psychology department at Stanford University wanted to work with Koko. She

proposed that a gorilla could learn to speak with humans using sign language.

Penny found that she couldn't leave Koko after getting her doctorate, and

dedicated her life to the project. Through Penny's teachings, Koko

understood spoken English and could communicate with over 1,000 signs. In

1978, Koko was featured on the cover of National Geographic, taking a photo of

herself in the mirror. She was on the cover of the magazine again in 1985 with

her cat, All Ball. Koko's connection to the kitten was astounding to her fans as it

showed a connection to smaller animals seemingly identical to what human feels

to a pet. When All Ball was tragically hit by a car,

Koko experienced death similar to how we humans experience it.

All Ball. Hit by a car. I went in right away and said Koko something happened to

kitty and he won't be here anymore. You know he because the cat has died.

Koko adopted several other cats over the course of her life and spending time

with them was one of her favorite things to do.

Koko also met and established relationships with a ton of celebrities

over the years, including Mr. Rogers, whom she had seen on TV, and Betty White, who

sits on The Gorilla Foundation's Board of Directors. Koko knew who she was after

seeing many episodes of The Golden Girls, but Koko's most famous celebrity and

counselor came in 2001 when she spent time with actor Robin Williams.

William's made Koko laugh and smile, something she hadn't done since her companion Michael

had passed away six months earlier. In 2012, Koko demonstrated that she could

play the recorder and intricately control her breathing, something

previously thought that non-human primates were unable to do. The last

video posted by The Gorilla Foundation touched on Penny and Koko's bond, and

what it means to be a mother to a gorilla. Tributes to Koko and her amazing

life are being shared all around the world. Robin Williams' daughter Zelda

tweeted: "I had the honor to meet Koko as a kid. To be around her and interact with

her was to have your perspective shifted & your understanding of this world

expanded. In seconds, you went from acknowledging someTHING to interacting

with someONE." Melissa Smith tweeted: "Goodbye Koko! An icon for wildness,

empathy and interspecies communication. For proving the old white guys wrong.

Animals aren't populations, they are individuals with personality, emotions

and families. They deserve to exist in peace for their own purposes outside of

our own." The Gorilla Foundation plans to continue "wildlife conservation in Africa,

a great ape sanctuary in Maui, and a sign language app." They also say you can email

Battlefield V: Battle Royale - 10 Things it Needs - Duration: 10:34.

The announcement of Battle Royale for Battlefield V has many excited for the game mode.

It's also got some players equally concerned.

Recently, DICE producer Lars Gustavvsson discussed the decision to include Battle Royale in Battlefield

V. He says a big push for the addition of the mode came from developers inside the studio,

and that Battlefield V has a lot of stuff in its toolbox that would be a good fit for

Battle Royale.

I'm inclined to agree, but Battlefield is entering an ever more crowded field of Battle

Royale competitors, which will also soon include Call of Duty Black Ops 4.

How will Battlefield V's entry stand out?

And can it unseat some of the Battle Royale giants like PUBG and Fortnite?

Lets look at 10 things Battlefield V needs to take Battle Royale to the next level.

Number 1: A Battlefield Battle Royale needs 100 players.

I've heard a lot of discussion on the number of players people would like to see in such

a mode.

Battlefield is traditionally known for 64-player game modes like Conquest, but proper Battle

Royale games start with 100.

For seasoned Royale players, a 64 player count just isn't going to be enough - and many

will see it as half a Royale.

There's also something to be said about being the last man standing out of 100 players.

It's going to be more challenging and rewarding than being the best of 64.

This is what makes Battle Royale competitive and addictive - two things DICE should absolutely

try to emulate with their entry.

Number 2: A Massive Map.

The Battlefield franchise has some huge maps, but for Battle Royale, they need to go even

bigger.

Call of Duty is touting their Blackout map as the biggest in franchise history, which

sets the bar for Battlefield to do the same.

In addition to being large, the map also need to be populated.

Battlefield 1 has several large maps, like Sinai Desert and St. Quentin Scar - but there's

a lot of open ground to cover - and that's not something you really want on a Battle

Royale map.

Players expect a mix of rural and urban areas, as well as other compelling locations.

Each section of the map should have its own personality, risks, and rewards.

Fortnite and PUBG do this well, with players forming strategies for each area of the map.

Drop location should always be seen as a tactical choice, and map complexity needs to reward

those who take the time to learn it inside and out.

Number 3: Proper Vehicles.

Vehicle Gameplay in the Battlefield franchise has always been one of its biggest assets,

and it could be what sets it apart from other competitors.

Tanks or even airplanes have the potential to change everything we know about Battle

Royale.

However, these need to be balanced.

Players need a way to deal with armored vehicles - whether that takes the form of anti-tank

weapons like the Panzerfaust or traditional AT guns.

Large stationary weapons in a Battle Royale game would also be an interesting addition.

I'd love to see an entire squad operating a single tank, with one player driving, one

operating the main gun, another on a machine gun, and the tank commander picking targets.

There's also serious potential for Fortnite level shenanigans with towed stationary weapons

that can be fired on the move.

Personally, I think repairing of vehicles should be removed, or at least limited to

supply points.

This would introduce another risk / reward mechanic, as it would offer a chance to fully

repair, but would also be a prime spot for an ambush.

Instead of a guaranteed win, it should be an impressive feat if you manage to make it

to the end of the Royale with a tank.

And on that note, Number 4 is an adequate party system.

Battle Royale games have pretty standard modes in singles, duos, and four player squads.

With Battlefield 5's focus on four player squads I think it's expected here.

Playing cooperatively in Battle Royale games is a blast, and I'd really like to see that

available off the bat.

Being able to fit an entire squad inside a vehicle is also a must, so DICE needs to take

that into consideration.

A party system is also important for another key reason - watchability.

Fortnite and PUBG continue to dominate on gaming streams because they enable streamers

to play together.

Number 5: Destruction.

This is something Battlefield does well and DICE have taken to another level in Battlefield

5.

Yes, other games like Fortnite enable building and basic destruction, but no one does it

quite like Battlefield.

If you know someone's hiding inside a building, drive a tank through it, or blow it up with

dynamite.

You can't do that in PUBG.

Denying someone cover is an effective tactic, and Battlefield 5 has that capability with

Frostbite.

Number 6: Strong Points.

As part of compelling map locations, DICE could introduce positions that can be fortified

by players.

Not only does this use the fortification system from Battlefield 5's multiplayer, it also

makes digging in a strategic decision - do you risk enemy fire to fortify your position

in hopes that the circle ends up in your sector, or do you keep on the move?

DICE could also increase a strong point's value by locating a supply point inside or

including stationary weapons and trenches.

This would make them more attractive for players to occupy, especially if that position is

actually advantageous.

It also might scratch the Fortnite "building itch" and many players would appreciate

it.

Number 7: Streamer tools.

Both PUBG and Fortnite owe a large part of their success to streamers and other content

creators.

Both games are fun to watch as a form of entertainment in their own right.

It's great promotion for a game, and devs should try and support this kind of content.

Fortnite does an excellent job of this - by including a streamer mode option.

This essentially just makes the user's name anonymous, which makes it exceedingly difficult

to stream snipe or pester someone just trying to enjoy the game.

Number 8: Customization Should Carry Over.

Players should be able to customize their characters thoroughly in Battlefield V's

Battle Royale game mode.

I'm sure EA has plans for this, since it's what's supposed to support post launch content.

Ideally, I'd like to be able to equip customization options I've unlocked through the game's

core modes.

I'd also like to see customization options only unlockable by feats in Battle Royale.

This gives players a reason to explore all aspects of Battlefield 5.

Number 9: Regular Updates.

Fortnite, more than any other Battle Royale game has shown what small, regular updates

to the game mode can do for the game's playerbase and longevity.

There's always something new happening in Fortnite, which keeps players interested and

shakes up the gameplay on a regular basis.

Often it's as simple a thing as a new gun or gadget.

If Battlefield 5 can push regular updates to its Battle Royale game mode, it could be

a runaway success.

Lastly at number 10: Battlefield V's Battle Royale needs a compelling setting.

When talking about a Battle Royale with World War II as a backdrop, there are tons of interesting

possibilities for settings - including some that historically-inspired.

The idea of a Battle Royale isn't that far from what actual paratroopers experienced

during their drops - particularly German Fallschirmjaeger.

These airborne troops landed without their primary weapons and were generally armed only

with knives or pistols.

Once you landed, there was enemy in every direction.

You were surrounded.

You had to collect your wits and weapons, move towards your objective, and engage targets

of opportunity.

That's essentially what you do in all Battle Royale games as the circle shrinks.

The problem is translating the experience so that it works with everyone jumping from

the same aircraft - how do you present all the other players as enemies?

Perhaps DICE have a player-side animation of bailing out of a fighter, while all the

other players appear to jump from a Ju-52.

This at least explains why you're supposed to fight 99 other people.

If they went this route, there's a great historic location that would inspire a perfect

Battle Royale map: Crete.

German airborne troops landed on the Island in 1941.

Crete is full of varied environments, ranging from cities to to unforgiving mountainous

terrain.

More importantly, it's also an island - something that's basically a requirement for Battle

Royale maps.

Down the road, DICE could showcase another airborne invasion - this time with the allied

drops over Normandy.

Not only would this be a dream scenario for many players - it'd also be an opportunity

to do a night map Battle Royale, which hasn't been done by either Fortnite or PUBG.

Personally, I'm cautiously interested in a Battlefield 5 Battle Royale.

I think there's definitely space for a Battle Royale game with fast and polished first person

gunplay - as long as it doesn't impact the rest of the game's development.

I know a few of you are on the fence, so what are your thoughts on the topic?

How do you feel about a Battlefield V Battle Royale?

What do you think it needs?

Tell me in the comments.

0:00:32.790,0:00:36.719 we're talking about st. Dennis the large

CITY 0:00:34.559,0:00:38.760

Red Dead Redemption to City and we're HAZARD

0:00:36.719,0:00:40.320 gonna be doing a map size comparison for

0:00:38.760,0:00:42.450 and just a size comparison in general

0:00:40.320,0:00:44.489 because an image of st. Dennis has been

0:00:42.450,0:00:46.469 shared in the collector's box st. Dennis

0:00:44.489,0:00:48.090 is featured as puzzle pieces and we can

0:00:46.469,0:00:49.440 get a feel for the size of the city but

0:00:48.090,0:00:50.940 we don't know what to compare it with

0:00:49.440,0:00:52.770 and so I've gotten a lot of comments

0:00:50.940,0:00:54.329 from people asking how large the city

0:00:52.770,0:00:55.890 will be what we'll be able to do there

0:00:54.329,0:00:57.870 and I can't really attest to what will

0:00:55.890,0:00:59.399 be featured in st. Dennis as of right

0:00:57.870,0:01:00.449 now because not much information is

0:00:59.399,0:01:01.890 shared about it but we're gonna be

0:01:00.449,0:01:03.600 taking a look at the photos we've seen

0:01:01.890,0:01:05.430 thus far and we're gonna be comparing it

0:01:03.600,0:01:06.930 in grand theft auto 5 so like I said

0:01:05.430,0:01:09.299 we're doing a size comparison and we're

0:01:06.930,0:01:11.159 gonna use GTA 5 as our canvas to compare

0:01:09.299,0:01:12.240 Saint Dennis so first off if you enjoy

0:01:11.159,0:01:13.890 this video and find the information

0:01:12.240,0:01:16.140 helpful definitely drop a like let's see

0:01:13.890,0:01:17.520 if we can go for 100 likes on this video

0:01:16.140,0:01:19.619 that would be amazing guys let's see if

0:01:17.520,0:01:21.930 we can reach 100 likes on this video and

0:01:19.619,0:01:23.580 also if you enjoyed this video and like

0:01:21.930,0:01:25.200 all these daily Red Dead Redemption 2

0:01:23.580,0:01:26.880 uploads on this channel then the

0:01:25.200,0:01:28.380 definitely subscribe if you guys are new

0:01:26.880,0:01:30.210 without further ado let's just jump

0:01:28.380,0:01:32.520 right into this so we're gonna be using

0:01:30.210,0:01:34.619 a racing bike in GTA 5 and we're gonna

0:01:32.520,0:01:36.210 be driving at a medium speed or we're

0:01:34.619,0:01:37.829 gonna be pedaling at a medium speed to

0:01:36.210,0:01:39.900 match the speed when you're riding on a

0:01:37.829,0:01:41.640 horse in Red Dead Redemption 2 I didn't

0:01:39.900,0:01:43.409 want to cycle too fast as that would be

0:01:41.640,0:01:45.210 too fast for the horse but I also didn't

0:01:43.409,0:01:46.829 want to go too slow because at the same

0:01:45.210,0:01:48.509 time in Red Dead Redemption 2 you won't

0:01:46.829,0:01:50.520 be galloping really slow or even just

0:01:48.509,0:01:51.840 walking at an incredibly slow pace on

0:01:50.520,0:01:53.790 your horse so I took it on a medium

0:01:51.840,0:01:55.409 speed and I adjusted for the elevation

0:01:53.790,0:01:57.570 changes because sometimes you'll see me

0:01:55.409,0:01:59.280 speed up and slow down to maintain speed

0:01:57.570,0:02:01.170 consistency but this is just a rough

0:01:59.280,0:02:02.490 comparison on how saint-denis will

0:02:01.170,0:02:04.530 actually feel and how large it will

0:02:02.490,0:02:06.750 actually be in Red Dead Redemption 2 so

0:02:04.530,0:02:08.399 as you could see as we're driving around

0:02:06.750,0:02:10.289 to Los Santos as we're pedaling on our

0:02:08.399,0:02:13.380 bike around Los Santos it took me 2

0:02:10.289,0:02:15.210 minutes and 15 seconds to cycle from 1

0:02:13.380,0:02:16.920 to the other and I feel like that will

0:02:15.210,0:02:18.780 be a pretty large city for Red Dead

0:02:16.920,0:02:20.910 Redemption too and it also puts the rest

0:02:18.780,0:02:22.380 of the map in scale and in scope and if

0:02:20.910,0:02:24.180 you want to see a video on the full Red

0:02:22.380,0:02:25.830 Dead Redemption to map size predictions

0:02:24.180,0:02:27.090 and a comparison on how large it will

0:02:25.830,0:02:28.920 feel then let me know down the comments

0:02:27.090,0:02:30.840 I also want to show you guys some photos

0:02:28.920,0:02:32.550 on what st. Dennis is supposed to look

0:02:30.840,0:02:34.080 like so as you can see here I already

0:02:32.550,0:02:35.850 show this on screen but you could see

0:02:34.080,0:02:37.110 the puzzle pieces of st. Dennis so you

0:02:35.850,0:02:38.550 can kind of get a feel for all the

0:02:37.110,0:02:39.870 streets you can see all the ports

0:02:38.550,0:02:41.220 there's actually a lot of boat ports

0:02:39.870,0:02:42.900 which actually makes me think you know

0:02:41.220,0:02:44.550 we're gonna be able to ride or drive

0:02:42.900,0:02:46.140 some boats in this game you know steam

0:02:44.550,0:02:47.490 ships and other sailboats and things

0:02:46.140,0:02:49.020 like that unfortunately some of these

0:02:47.490,0:02:50.460 puzzle pieces are missing but that

0:02:49.020,0:02:51.930 doesn't mean we still can't compare the

0:02:50.460,0:02:53.610 map like I'm doing in this video so you

0:02:51.930,0:02:55.020 can kind of make out what the city will

0:02:53.610,0:02:56.520 look like and you can see the individual

0:02:55.020,0:02:58.320 streets which helped me out in this

0:02:56.520,0:03:00.660 video and then if we take a look at

0:02:58.320,0:03:04.110 these images here you could see downtown

0:03:00.660,0:03:05.550 New Orleans way back in 1905 so six

0:03:04.110,0:03:06.870 years after this when this game is

0:03:05.550,0:03:08.670 supposed to take place and I feel like

0:03:06.870,0:03:11.130 this is one of the images that Rockstar

0:03:08.670,0:03:12.930 used when trying to recreate New Orleans

0:03:11.130,0:03:15.240 and you can see here all like the French

0:03:12.930,0:03:16.740 style architecture the awesome rooms and

0:03:15.240,0:03:18.480 things like that and the water towers on

0:03:16.740,0:03:20.220 top and things like that and then we're

0:03:18.480,0:03:22.230 also show you this other image right

0:03:20.220,0:03:25.200 here of an illustration of New Orleans

0:03:22.230,0:03:26.910 and this was actually back in I want to

0:03:25.200,0:03:28.320 say the 1920s but you could see the

0:03:26.910,0:03:29.610 steam ship so you could see the ports

0:03:28.320,0:03:32.100 and you could just see all the buildings

0:03:29.610,0:03:34.170 now st.

Denis won't be as large as that

0:03:32.100,0:03:36.030 but it will be pretty close which is

0:03:34.170,0:03:38.220 pretty cool now the reason I'm talking

0:03:36.030,0:03:40.440 about New Orleans is because Saint Denis

0:03:38.220,0:03:42.060 is actually based on New Orleans st.

0:03:40.440,0:03:44.070 Denis was leaked on the Red Dead

0:03:42.060,0:03:45.660 Redemption to map shall show an image on

0:03:44.070,0:03:47.910 screen as well he used to be called new

0:03:45.660,0:03:49.320 Bordeaux and new Bordeaux was in mafia

0:03:47.910,0:03:51.210 three and that was based on the

0:03:49.320,0:03:53.040 Louisiana bayou and New Orleans in the

0:03:51.210,0:03:55.350 late 60s now of course Red Dead

0:03:53.040,0:03:57.180 Redemption to place takes place in 1899

0:03:55.350,0:03:58.800 so the the city is gonna be a lot

0:03:57.180,0:04:00.150 smaller as gonna have fewer buildings

0:03:58.800,0:04:01.650 and the building heights are also gonna

0:04:00.150,0:04:03.330 be a lot shorter but it doesn't mean

0:04:01.650,0:04:04.830 that we can't compare the map this way

0:04:03.330,0:04:06.690 so even though this is a very rough

0:04:04.830,0:04:08.460 comparison of Saint Denis compared to

0:04:06.690,0:04:09.960 the rest of the GTA 5 map and compare it

0:04:08.460,0:04:11.640 to how large it will actually be and

0:04:09.960,0:04:13.110 feel in Red Dead Redemption - I just

0:04:11.640,0:04:14.460 want to make this video so you guys can

0:04:13.110,0:04:15.990 get a rough estimate on what exactly

0:04:14.460,0:04:17.580 we're gonna be dealing with here now of

0:04:15.990,0:04:19.500 course it's gonna feel a lot larger if

0:04:17.580,0:04:21.419 you're walking around on foot with your

0:04:19.500,0:04:23.070 gun out terrorizing the locals or just

0:04:21.419,0:04:24.900 extorting people or doing whatever the

0:04:23.070,0:04:26.700 city is gonna feel really big and if we

The Great Exhibition Of The North got off to a spectacular start with an opening event around the River Tyne in Newcastle and Gateshead

Drones and fireworks provided an aerial spectacle for an estimated 20,000 gathered on the quayside

Couple spent £91k life savings on watches in fake police scam - Duration: 6:45.

An elderly couple spent their £91,000 life savings on luxury Rolex watches after being targeted by fraudsters posing as police officers

Teenage father Matthew Kufour-Mills, 19, appeared at Cardiff Crown Court on Friday via video link to be sentenced for his role as courier in a UK-wide scam which saw conmen contact elderly people pretending to the police and telling them their bank account had been hacked or interfered with

An elderly couple from Newport , who cannot be named for legal reasons, were targeted twice by the vicious scheme and were told to withdraw sums of £51,000 and £40,000 respectively and buy expensive Rolex watches, which would then be collected by a courier

They were told this would help to protect their money.  On one occasion staff at Watches of Switzerland accompanied the couple to a bus stop after they had purchased the watches in order to make sure they weren't mugged

In his summation of the facts Judge Jeremy Jenkins said the couple were contacted by telephone on February 28 from someone claiming to be a Detective Chief Inspector Martin and told them their bank card had been used fraudulently in Birmingham

The caller told them to withdraw £51,000 from their bank account and use the money to buy expensive watches

They proceeded to buy two watches with staff accompanying them to the bus stop and a courier came to collect the watches later that day

Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will start in 8Cancel Play now  The couple were contacted again at a later date in March from someone purporting to be Detective Chief Inspector Martin to buy two Rolex watches worth £40,000 combined and to give them to a courier

On this occasion the courier was found to be Kufour-Mills, who was identified from CCTV footage

The defendant was on bail at the time of the offence for committing a similar offence in Maidstone, Kent, where an elderly woman had also been contacted by someone pretending to be a police officer and had been asked to buy watches to give to a courier

The woman in this case was suspicious of the call and contacted the real police who were there when 19-year-old Kufour-Mills arrived to collect the watches

He later pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiracy to obtain by deception.  Defending, Stephen Mould said his client, a father of two and a Deliveroo driver, was a drug user and had got into debt

In order to pay back the drug debts he was used as a courier in these scams.  The barrister said Kufour-Mills had a "limited awareness" to the full extent of the scam and described him as "cannon fodder" and a "foot soldier" compared to the scam organisers

In his sentencing remarks, Judge Jenkins said: "This appears to some an obvious scam but to elderly people, who are instinctively trusting of the police and what they say, it appeared to be genuine

Unless you had chosen elderly vulnerable victims this would never have succeeded

That shows cynical pre-planning and execution.  "This was a conspiracy and, in my judgement, your role was as essential as the person who described himself as Detective Chief Inspector Martin

"The victims, being elderly and vulnerable, have suffered greatly and I have read how they have been affected after losing £90,000 of hard-earned savings

The effect on them has been profound and long-lasting."  Kufour-Mills, of Inwen Court, Grinstead Road, London, was sentenced to a total of 27 months detention in a young offenders' institute

Read More Court stories you might have missed   PC Alistair Frame, of Gwent Police , said: "This incident involved an organised crime group who deceived an elderly couple into departing with nearly £100,000

"They stated they were police officers and convinced the victims to buy expensive watches which were then collected by members of the organised crime group

Matthew Kufour-Mills was one of the couriers who collected two watches.   "By conducting extensive CCTV inquiries and working with other police forces we were able to identify Kufour-Mills as one of the offenders

"Clearly this incident had a profound impact on the victims both financially and emotionally

They have remained strong and supportive throughout the investigation and I would like to thank them for this

"We welcome the sentence imposed on Kufour-Mills and encourage anyone who thinks they may be a victim of this type of fraud to contact police

"

Anita Moorjani 艾妮塔‧穆札尼 - 我能做什麼來幫助病人 / How to support those dealing with health challenges (中文字幕) - Duration: 36:36.

hi a happy Sunday if you're watching

live happy April Fool's Day happy Easter

Sunday

happy day so first of all I want to

thank you all everybody who who

commented on my last couple of posts we

really got an amazing number of comments

and the last post which was the

announcement that the movie of my book

of my story dying to be me is about to

be made and I am so excited about that

like truly I am and I'm working with an

amazing team of people who are so

respectful of keeping the story

authentic and and that really means a

lot to me to keep the story authentic

because I don't know if you know this

but I'll share it now anyway something

from quite a few years ago before my

story got published before the book got

published by Hay House I was actually

approached by someone else prior to that

who wanted to help me get my book

published and she had said that she

would like to she feels that my story

deserves to be published as a book and

she wanted to get it get my story into

good shape to submit it to publishers

and as she did that she started to

change the story and she changed a lot

of the elements about it including what

I experienced in the other realm and

when I said to her that this is not my

story you've changed my story and she

said that she needed to do that because

the way my story was she said it won't

sell and I said to her I'm not sharing

my story to sell books I'm I came back

from dying to change a paradigm to help

people to share what I have to share my

you know I have to share it the way I

experienced it whether it sells books or

not anyway my relationship with her did

not work out for that very reason

because she actually kept saying what I

didn't like was she kept saying but the

American market won't buy this they

won't buy it because you are a Hindu

person and you have to change this and

change that and I was like whoa okay

I am not changing my story for any

particular market or for anyone's money

so fast forward Wayne Dyer discovered my

story and when I spoke to hey house I

said you know I don't want to change my

story for the market and they said no

we're not asking you to that's why we

wanted your story because of what it is

and who you are and I said great I'm

going with you and then so with the

movie people same sort of thing it was

really important that they kept the

story authentic and of course I

understand they have to use creative

license to get it across to elicit the

right feelings in people but yet they're

going to honor the story for what it is

and not change it just to suit the

market so to speak so that was really

important for me and I'm so thrilled as

to how respectful they are I just wanted

to say that to give them a shout out

now today excuse me I have a really

important topic I want to talk about mmm

because people write to me people write

on Facebook and oh and if you're

watching this live please tell me where

you're from who are you say hello I love

getting comments I am going to take

questions in about 10 minutes or so so

please write in your questions Danny my

boo who is helping me behind the scenes

he's gonna punch up questions on I have

a little screen here I hope it all works

technology sometimes is so unpredictable

I'm terrible with technology so he's

gonna punch up questions on the screen

if it doesn't work he's going to shout

them out at me but if we don't take your

questions please don't take it

personally

sometimes they go by so fast sometimes

there's more questions than I can handle

I always go back and read your comments

and questions later

so that it gives me ideas of what to

create videos on and what to talk about

and what it is you guys want to know

more about so please please don't take

it personally if we don't actually

address your comment because truly there

are too many and Danny's just trying to

pick the best ones or the ones that are

most relevant for this conversation

and remember I do go back and read them

all later and I really do try and create

videos for the most important questions

that come up so today's question which

you will probably already see on on the

title of the video is can we help our

loved ones to heal from illness or is it

something that they can only do for

themselves now I always say that the

real the true healing has to come from

inside it has to come from inside the

person who is unwell who is going

through the illness it's an inside job

because they have to get these insights

or they have to get this feeling of oh

my gosh this is why I'm going through

this and they have to work through

things however however there are things

that the loved ones around them can do

and say and there are ways they can

support them so that the person going

through the illness gets the right

insights so in the one hand there are

things that we can do to help them and

support them to get the transformation

and the insights they need and also of

course just to support them physically

through their illness but also there are

things that the loved ones who are

around them should not do because it

kind of sets them back and so I want to

talk about these elements today so if

you have a loved one who's going through

an illness I think this will really help

you if you know somebody who is taking

care of a loved one who is going through

an illness I think this will help them

so please share this with them if you

are a caregiver I think this will help

you if you are a healer a nurse even a

doctor I think this will help you so

anyway let's get started so the number

one thing that I would ask you to do if

you are taking care of a loved one is

help them get excited about life again

like truly help them get excited about

life you know usually an illness is like

a wake-up call or an accumulation of

being tired of the way life is for the

person going through it you know they've

taken on things that they don't want to

they've lost their way emotionally

spiritually they're not on the path that

they intended to come here to be on

they've kind of lost they've started to

become somebody who they're not they're

they're people pleasers they're doormats

so it's all these kinds of things and

they don't know how to get excited about

life again

also a lot of people who go through

health challenges who get repeated

health challenges like it might be

somebody for whom they have a chronic

illness that's gone on for years or

somebody for whom they're getting cancer al iwj 0:07:22.419,0:07:27.039 for the third fourth fifth time I mean I

know of people who contact me and say I

don't know what to do I'm getting this

is like my fifth time or my sixth time

and I thought I was done with it so

here's the thing for people for whom

it's repeated or it's chronic and it's

been going on for years it's like they

don't know how to be a well person

that's really what's going on so the

more that we just focus on the actual

physical illness which is what we do

when somebody gets ill the minute they

get ill we're all jumping in and saying

oh my god you're sick you have to take

these meds you have to go through this

protocol the whole focus is on the

illness this and if this is the only way

they know how to be a victim of illness

then this is what they will continue to

be we have to help them be a well person

again and we do this by getting them

excited about being a person who's well

by getting them excited about life and

living life so it's not about focusing

on healing their illness but as a

caregiver as a friend as a family member

your job is to help them focus on

getting excited about life what do they

love to do what are their hobbies help

them to laugh take them to the beach

take them on a car ride do fun stuff so

that is really important if you if you

are someone who

has a kind of a coach personality a

healer personality you can even go

deeper and delve into like what is it

that's burdening them in their life are

they the type of person that says yes

when they mean no maybe encourage them

to make a list of things that they've

taken on recently that they don't want

to that they haven't wanted to but

haven't been able to say no encourage

them to let go of those things one by

one let go of their burdens so basically

the number one way is help them to get

excited about life including helping

them to let go of their burdens and look

forward to life again ask them what

would you do if you had a clean bill of

health and then help them to do it say

what would you do to celebrate if today

yeah the doctor said you have a clean

bill of health

you don't want to go back to the old

life and the old person that you were

and help them to celebrate and live a

life of health and vibrancy and joy and

happiness so that's the number one thing

the number two thing is what not to do

and it's do not judge them do not judge

them if they look frail if they look

sick if they're not improving do not put

pressure on them do not make them feel

pressure that they need to see other

people because here's the thing a lot of

people that are sick even while they're

sick are still thinking of the people

around them they still have trouble

saying no even while they're sick

they're still taking on the duties and

the responsibilities of being a good

parent or a good wife or a good daughter

or a good friend they're still doing all

those things so do not judge them in

fact help them let go of those things

and remind them to take care of

themselves remind them to look to follow

their own joy and that they don't need

to look after other people and encourage

them tell them they're doing great so

let me give you some examples of how we

judge people if they're not improving

absolutely do not say like

oh my gosh you still look terrible or

you're still so sick and it may sound

weird the way I say it it's like who

would say such things believe me people

do and I went through that so I am

speaking from my own experience of

having a diagnosis of terminal cancer I

am NOT a doctor I am NOT somebody who

has studied how to treat people I am

speaking from my own experience of how

the way other people treated me how it

affected me I am Telling You what I

would want in terms of support knowing

what I know now if I had to go through

it again so this is where what I'm

saying come is coming from and I

remember that I went through a long

phase of not wanting to see anyone

because I didn't know what reaction I

would get I knew I looked sick I knew

not everyone agreed with the protocols I

was going through but more than anything

I needed support and I didn't feel I was

getting it from everyone and I didn't

feel safe around a lot of people I

didn't feel safe that they would say and

do the right things that I needed to

hear to support what I was going through

so I was very selective and I wanted to

be alone or just with my husband Danny

or with my immediate family members who

I trusted I didn't want to see visitors

so when people would send me messages or

try and call me and say they want to see

me it would put pressure on me and so

this is something I would say is that

when your loved one or the person who's

sick doesn't want to see people honor

that please honor that because the more

you force yourself on them the more

again you're putting pressure on them to

say yes when they mean no they're people

that are not going to fight very hard

and they're gonna do it and they're

gonna do it for you and it's actually

going to put even more pressure on them

and it's gonna drain them even more

that's what happened to me and I

remember one day when this couple friend

they were close friends of ours and I

didn't want to see anyone because they

were including them because I knew in

order to see them

they wanted to go out and have dinner

and I knew I would have to dress up and

I didn't want to face the public because

I really felt I looked terrible

I looked sick I was drawn completely

drawn and sick looking so finally one

day because they really said that oh you

know we need to see you it's been too

long

finally I gave in and I said okay let's

go out for lunch and I think it was a

Saturday or a Sunday and we went to a

restaurant and Danny and I were there

first and we were sitting there and then

when the couple showed up the lady the

wife when she looked at me she said oh

my god I didn't realize you were this

sick now that was the last thing I

needed to hear and I don't know what

made her say that I think she she was

just overwhelmed as to how sick I look

but that made me feel so awful about

myself because when I'd got dressed up

and come out I thought okay I don't look

so bad I'd convinced myself I didn't

look so bad but her reaction it was just

I just couldn't take it I went to the

bathroom and I started crying and of

course they knew something was wrong and

then she came in to the bathroom and

then she apologized to me but for me my...

it was over I couldn't eat I told Danny

that I need to excuse myself and then he

of course got up and he brought me home

and then I was too traumatized to

actually meet other people because their

reaction was so unpredictable so if you

know somebody is sick even if they're

deteriorating please please don't tell

them that please don't put any pressure

on them that they have to get well they

have to meet people they have to do this

please don't do that to them the best

thing you can do is just be there for

them number three and that's number

three your only job is to love them

through it that's it

love them through it support them

through it but the biggest element is

just love them love them unconditionally

where they are right now just love them

and really that is the best thing

that is the absolute best thing that you

can do and as I said you know make them

forget that they're sick don't treat

them like a sick person make them laugh

don't judge them if they want to drink

wine if they want to eat something fun

don't judge them for doing that because

those foods are not what made them sick

what made them sick was the pressure of

trying to live up to everybody else's

expectations so number three is loved

them through it so if I can repeat

number one is get them excited about

living number two is don't judge them

number three is love them and number

four really important take care of

yourself if you are tired if you are

drained if you are fearful about their

condition don't go near them don't go

near them because they can feel your

energy

you need to take care of yourself you

need to be in a place and in a position

where you can be strong enough to show

up make them feel joyful love them if

they want to cry on your shoulder you

need to have the energy and the strength

and enough charge in your own battery to

take that from them if they want to cry

on their shoulder if they want to trust

you so you need to charge your own

batteries so don't do it out of

obligation don't do it out of fear even

if it's your parent even if it's your

child you need to take care of yourself

you need to spend some time every day

charging your own batteries practicing a

random act of kindness for yourself

soaking in a tub doing whatever you do

and don't feel you're selfish for doing

it I know I did when my friend had

cancer and I was well I did not have

cancer I felt guilty doing anything for

myself to the point that I got so

drained that I got my own diagnosis so

don't do that

don't do that you don't need to be sick

to take care of yourself so take care of

yourself and then be there for others

remember on every airline you fly in it

says to put your own mask on before you

assist others

so this is something you really have to

do and number five if your loved one

does cross over I want you to remember

that they did not lose the fight it

wasn't a fight against their own body

our bodies are not war zones our bodies are

not something are not battlegrounds that

we have to win so if they do cross over

they did not lose they have gone to a

beautiful place and it was their time

they crossed over not because they don't

love you enough not because they don't

love life enough but for their own

reasons whatever they may be because

when they cross over they love you

unconditionally absolutely

unconditionally they love you for being

there they love you even if you've had a

falling out with somebody when they

cross over that's all gone they know

your heart they know what you feel about

them so they know you love them so when

they cross over you take care of

yourself take care of your own grief do

what you have to do but don't feel bad

for them they're in a beautiful place

and they are somewhere where they can

actually do more because very often

people cross over because they feel they

can do more from the other realm than

this realm

sometimes people cross over because it

is their time when it's their time it's

their time and people cross over they

choose different ways to cross over

sometimes an illness like cancer has

come to rescue someone from a life which

is no longer the life that they intended

to create so don't feel bad for them but

do take care of yourself and take all

the time you need to grieve and just

remember when someone crosses over they

haven't lost they haven't lost and

cancer is not an enemy it is your body

actually trying to tell you something

trying to rescue you from a situation

and your physical body is actually your

physical body loves you unconditionally

and is wise beyond you give it

credit for so thank you for listening in

I'm ready to take your questions I'm

going to look towards Danny to see if

he's got any questions and hooray

there's something that's been punched up

on the screen but I have to wear my

glasses Katherine

Dawnae Nickolson's question I was told

in a meditation that my back problems

spine are due to me being out of

spiritual alignment I can't be in

spiritual alignment all the time or

meditate all the time so how do I heal

this I love that question did you all

hear me Katherine has been told that her

back problems are due to being out of

spiritual alignment so she says she

can't be in spiritual alignment all the

time she can't meditate all the time so

how do i heal this so here's the thing I

want to tell you being in spiritual

alignment does not mean to do something

to go and meditate to learn about

spirituality that's what I used to think

I believed that I had to be more

spiritual meditate more read more

spiritual books in order to heal the

cancer in order to be more spiritual I

learned in a death for me to realize

this so I can't be that smart that being

yourself and being spiritual is one and

the same thing embracing spirituality

and embracing your own creativity

embracing your own heart is one and the

same thing so if someone says you're out

of spiritual alignment it means you are

out of alignment with your own self

it's not about meditating more or trying

to be more spiritual or trying to read

more spiritual books or listen to more

spiritual teachers no no no no no it's

about asking yourself what have I taken

on that's not actually mine what am I

saying yes to and I mean no what are how

do I unleash my own creativity and be

the person I came here to be what am i

passionate about what brings me joy have

I forgotten how to laugh have I

forgotten how to be happy when you are

happy you are in spiritual alignment

when you are following your calling

you are in spiritual alignment when you

are feeling joy when you're with people

you love when you are laughing when you

are joking when you are feeling light

liberated free when you are in love with

your life that is when you are in

spiritual alignment so I hope that

answers your question go pursue what you

love follow your heart follow your

passion and your back will be fine so

thanks for that question I'm sure your

question helped a lot of other people so

and thank you all for your comments as

well but I I'm happy to keep going for a

bit and take more questions from you any

more questions yes he says yes and he's

looking at them so when you're working

with me ah okay

Silvia Bellini my father is determined

to go as he does not want any further

treatment

we've got him into a fabulous hospice

and it's a case of waiting how can we

support him greetings from London hi

Sylvia thank you for writing in from

London so the best way to support him is

exactly what I said so whether a person

wants to go or doesn't want to go the

best way to support them is to support

them in living life and finding their

joy and just ask your dad every day what

does he want to do and I and respect his

choices of not wanting any more

treatment because here's the thing when

a person lets go and says I don't want

to live anymore do you know what they're

actually saying they're saying I don't

want to fight anymore that's what

they're saying it's saying I'm tired of

fighting that's why they're saying I

don't want to live anymore because to

them living equals fighting and it means

they're tired they're tired of either

fighting in their life like maybe they

fought to get to the position they're in

they fight to earn enough of a living in

their life and right now they're

fighting to stay alive because they

believe there's this enemy that is

that is racing against time to kill them

and to kill their bodies and the doctors

are racing against that enemy to kill

the enemy and in the interim this person

is forced to fight against this illness

and is feeling terrible and is feeling

tired and is kind of done with this

whole thing and ready to go so what's

really weird is that when the person

stops fighting and is actually ready to

go very often they end up out living the

time that they're given so take all the

pressure off take all the pressure off

fighting and the best way you can

support your dad is to support his

decision that he's ready to let go and

just help him to have fun and it doesn't

matter whether he's here for one day one

month one year just make every day count

ask him questions like hey Dad if you

had it all to do over again what would

you do differently listen to what he

says and help him to actually fulfill

some of the things that he regrets that

he didn't do help him create a bucket

list and fulfill the things on the

bucket list I actually wish that

everybody would fulfill their bucket

list or would create a bucket list and

start fulfilling it not wait until

they're about to die fulfill it while

they're living life that's what life is

for that's what it's about it's not

about it's not about living or fighting

it until you get a terminal illness and

then fighting the illness life really is

about living life to the fullest and

that's what embracing spirituality is so

thank you Sylvia and he's lucky to have

a daughter like you

speaking of bucket lists by the way we

had a great time on the cruise and I

loved cruises and that was just a couple

of weeks ago it was fabulous so one of

the things on my bucket list is to go to

Alaska someday and to see those ice

glaciers so how many of you have Alaska

on your bucket list so I'm gonna

manifest that so let's do an Alaskan

cruise next year who's with me I'd love

to hear from you if you are because

that's definitely something on my bucket

list and Alaskan cruise so stay tuned

because I'm gonna see if I can make that

happen

do we have more questions and also by

the way next month I will be traveling

all over Europe I'll be doing seven

cities in Europe and I always love to

see people I always love to see you guys

in person and give you a hug

so if you're around you know check out

so I think I will post the link in this

thread of where I'm gonna be it's gonna

be seven cities including Bristol UK

Paris France Switzerland Basel

Switzerland three cities in Germany and

Croatia love going back to all these

places just love all of them and I love

seeing all of you so we have a question

from Matthew Matthew Aronson hello two

of my grandparents are going through

cancer treatment I was wondering if you

can give me some advice on what I can do

to help them exactly what I've said I'm

guessing yes you wrote this question

about 10-15 minutes ago

so I would ask you to listen to what

I've already said love them through it

help them to have fun if they are

wanting to end their treatments if it's

too much for them I would support them

in that not telling you to do that I am

NOT a doctor so I'm not in a position to

say what they should or shouldn't do in

terms of treatments but I really really

feel that you know a people should be

honored to follow what they believe

works with them works for them I

remember when I was going through cancer

and it was still at the early stage and

I wanted to try some natural

modalities and I remember people calling

me phoning me and actually said don't be

crazy don't do that do the chemotherapy

and this one person I remember was

calling and calling me and saying

have to do the chemotherapy you just

have to do it don't you know don't fall

for the crazy stuff and she was she was

like really so determined to force me

that way that it instilled this fear in

me of the route that I wanted to follow

what ended up happening was I feared

both ways because I already had this

fear of chemotherapy and now I had

developed a fear of the alternative

because of this person who kept saying

it ironically many many years later and

this is sad this is not something that I

take pleasure in saying to you but but

she learned for herself when a very

close family member of hers was going

through cancer and the conventional

treatments of chemotherapy did not help

this person she was

sadly watching them deteriorate and I

was there to help her through it and in

fact her family member went through

alternatives and was trying everything

but my point is that chemotherapy

whether somebody chooses it or doesn't

choose it it's not an exact medical

science is not an exact science when it

comes to medicine and doctors will agree

I know there are many doctors that have

written to me many doctors that have

read my book many doctors who I know

personally today because of sharing my

story and they would actually agree it's

not an exact science and people are

starting to have to get deeper into the

psyche of the person who's sick and

understanding what is it that they want

what is it that they've taken on the

burdens they've taken on that they're

ready to let go of and sometimes one of

the burdens even is in trying to stay

healthy so thank you so much for that

question Matthew your grandparents are

lucky to have you as a grandson and to

have you caring for them and do we have

any more questions or yes great I see a

nod from Danny so let's go on to the

next question

Sally Francis Oh

the screen has gone blank so uh it's

back Sally Francis I was told to hurry

up and die by Wow by my elder brother

when I was in hospital I think some

people just can't cope with illness and

are afraid

it makes them have to face their own

vulnerability wow that is amazing and

I'm glad that you didn't die and I'm

hoping Sally that you are not going to

die anytime soon it's time for you to

find your passion live your life and I

will say that you know if any of you out

there are with people who do not want

you to live who cannot cope with your

illness please free them from your life

please free them from your life if you

are going through an illness surround

yourself with people who will support

you please surround yourself with people

who will support you very often the

people who don't support you in most

cases I'm not sure about your brother

Sally because he told you to hurry up

and die that's terrible but in most

cases people who don't support you are

not doing it out of any malice they're

not doing it because they want you to

die it's because they they themselves

are ignorant they themselves feel guilty

they themselves are drained just like my

friend who told me that I have to go for

chemotherapy and she kept saying it and

calling me and and telling me that I was

crazy to try the alternative routes and

telling me that I was crazy and they're

not gonna work she did it out of an

ignorance and it really instilled it

exacerbated my fear tremendously of what

was happening because she really made me

feel that it was huge and the cancer and

nothing can heal it except to to come at

it at like a battleground with this

artillery and so that was out of

ignorance not out of malice she actually

thought she was doing it from a place of

love so so this is why release the

people in your life who are not

supporting you through your illness and

don't be afraid

instruct people how you want to be

supported or share this video with them

if you're gonna support someone who is

ill be on their side give them what they

need help them to take the burdens off

their shoulder help them live laugh

enjoy life doesn't matter how long

they're gonna be here for or not if you

can't do that you shouldn't be around

them you shouldn't be caring for them

and move on and take care of yourself

and do your own thing and heal your own

self

shall we go with one more and let's go

with the last one and that question is

from and of course as I'm doing this

please keep writing your questions

because they actually really help me

even when I look back at them so Carol

Carol Miller hi Carol I know who you are

Carol is from the celebrate your life

events and I'm gonna be seeing you in

June at celebrate your life event in

Chicago so thank you for the love love

them through it reminder I'm on a

journey with my mom and continue to

focus on what she can do rather than

what she can't but there are days that

it's difficult when she feels she is lone...

when she's losing her independence the

strongest woman I know I will remember

to stay focused on loving her and loving

her up regardless of what is showing up

that day ah Thank You Carol that is

thank you for that beautiful note and

yes and that's all your mom needs and oh

my gosh and if any of you that have

known and met Carol she is just the

sweetest soul I I adore you Carol and

that really is all you can do for your

mom and again your mom is so blessed to

have you and actually to be honest

that's all we can do for anybody really

anybody that's all we can do

not just for sick people for anybody for

our children we're here just to love and

most people don't get that most people

think that we're here to fight and we're

here to judge but we're here to we're

here just to love and it starts with

loving ourselves and when we love our

selves we're able to charge our own

batteries and keep recharging our

batteries so that we have enough love to

give other people and when you feel you

can't love just remove yourself from the

situation no need for judgment no need

for anything just keep loving keep

loving yourself and the more you can

love yourself the more you'll be able to

love others that's really all there is

to it thank you for sharing your love

with me on this day if it's if you're

watching it live it's Sunday and if

you're in Europe it's Sunday evening and

if you're in the u.s. it's Sunday... 0:36:06.560,0:36:11.600 early afternoon late morning early

Discussing Forest Land Management Allotments - Full Ep. : S8Ep25 - Duration: 28:51.

Hello again and welcome to The County

Seat, I'm Chad Booth. The last few

weeks have seen several fires flare up

around the state, four of them are

burning now as we tape this show. We

have seen homes destroyed and

watersheds affected, similar to last year.

The difference is that this season has

started much earlier.

The popular notion is that a climatic

changes have brought on a drought that

has rendered the forest more vulnerable

to burning. But to assume that logic is to

see only part of the story, as it is the

condition and density of the forest that

dictates how wide a fire will spread. So

let's start by learning about the different

theories for running a forest. Here is Ria.

So here is a question for you what is the life

cycle of a forest? In other words. How long

does it take a forest to grow from seedlings to

old growth trees? Well it depends upon three

factors.

1 is the species of the tree. As an example, a

Cottonwood tree grows much faster than a

Douglas fir.

2nd is the climate, trees on the coast region might

grow to maturity up to 40 years faster than the

same species of trees near us in the Rocky

Mountains.

And the third and most important fact is how you

raise the forest.

Let's look at three models for managing a forest.

First is the hands off method, or Mother Nature

method.

Untouched, a forest will go from fire to fire ready

in an average cycle of about 180 years. (This is an

average, the number will change substantially by

virtue of the primary species. By the time it

reaches maturity it will be old, prone to disease,

overly dense and ready to burn again.

This method is a brutal way to manage the eco

system of a forest. It has negative impacts on

watershed, wildlife, and for a short period of time

air quality.

The second system is the European model. This is

how most forests in Europe are managed. In this

model, the cycle begins when large tracts of trees

are clear cut harvested and new seedling planted

to restart the growth cycle. This produces whole

sections of forests with trees of a single species

that are all about the same age and thinned to

allow for maximum growth. When they are at

maturity, they are all cut down and replanted and

the entire cycle starts again.

The third system is the Selective Treatment

Harvest Method. This method many believe is the

best for sustainability. It mixes species of trees

along with shrubs and grasses and mixes them in

different densities with stands of trees of

different ages. The idea of this method is to keep

about 40 seed bearing trees per acre in any given

stand and harvest the rest. The landscape is

mixture of open space and stands of trees. This

serves the domestic and wildlife habitat, and

gives the trees a survivability buffer between

stands in case of insect infestation or fire. Under

the Selective Treatment model the stands are

checked about every 25 years and selectively

thinned to maintain the best 40 seed bearing

trees in the stand and make sure that one species

does not become dominant over another. The

Selective Treatment Harvest Model can shorten

the seedling to mature tree cycle by up to 40

years and leave the section healthy through the

entire cycle. In this model, the soil stays anchored

and provides cover and forage for the rest of the

ecosystem, with no catastrophic episodes like

clear cutting or fire to critically disrupt the

ecosystem. The separated stands act as an

insurance agent against catastrophic fire and

insect invasions while providing a steady supply of

useable fiber that can be commercially used to

better our lives as building material, fuel and

cellulose fiber which can be used in many

applications.

Western Forests could be considered as the

treasure of the west and the forest lands the bank

that holds them. They are beautiful to look at, and

a renewable resource to make rural economies

diverse and self-sustaining. But as with any

treasure in there are villains trying to get at them.

Fire, if not applied properly, can be the bank

robber, that wipes the treasure out all at once,

and disease is the embezzler who slowly steals

the wealth one tree at a time. A sound

stewardship plan is like the bank guard and the

auditor who can keep the treasure safe. All we

need to do is find a way to make good

stewardship make sense for the nation, the local

communities and the trees. Chad has some ideas

on that coming up in our discussion. For the

County Seat, I'm Ria Rossi Booth.

Welcome back to the County seat. Our topic

today is taking a look at different ways to

manage forests there's been some talk and

there've been some comparisons about different

entities on public lands and how they work and

within a kind of blend that into a concept that is

really been pioneered in part by Kane County

Commissioner Jim Matson, who has a long and

extensive background in forestry, so Jim thank

you for taking the time to join us today. We had

a current Forrester/consultant who was

supposed to be with us today, but he had

last-minute health issues that stopped him from

joining us were going to carry on without him.

So, I will try to play devil's advocate for some of

the things that Tom talked about that didn't quite

align with yours, but we'll get into a

conversation.

Okay.

So, let's start right with the title you're talking

about forest stewardship's. Explain that concept.

And also coupled with community forest

stewardship, you know, so we were going to do

is couple if we can are forest and landscapes

with those communities that are in and around

and adjacent to these large forest tracks they

are the direct beneficiaries today and they also

ought to have a role in what the direction is as

we go ahead and manage towards healthy

forests in a sustainable fashion.

There would be some people who would argue

that if you clear-cut an area you scarred its

natural beauty and so it seems to me that the

argument really is about aesthetics that the

environmental and recreational community say

well we just don't want that forest mowed down.

So, what is your answer to that?

Let's say that I was a 25 or 30-year-old Forrester

and I was given the track of let's say 80,000

acres to manage. In a career in a 30 to 40-year

career I could change the character the structure

and the nature of that whole forest stand, and

you wouldn't know it at the end of that 40-year

period.

How would I not know it. I mean some people

would say well how dare you think that you

should change. Mother nature.

If you can go in there in such a way and remove

the trees that in one sense or another are either

out of phase or not contributing to the overall

picture. But what I'm saying is that you could do

it in such a way that most of us are just

windshield observers. And as you drive to and

through the forest over a decade or two decades

or three decades that forest character can

change. If you don't see it. But if you have a

large area that's been cut over or clear-cut as

you had said earlier right away you know what's

happening to it. But a large fire is as devastating

as a big clear-cut. So, we've got to deal with the

natural presence of that forest it's forest

structure and what it's contributing.

Okay, so let's an example of this let's look at

West Yellowstone okay the Yellowstone fire was

a game changer for public lands and they said,

were going to let it burn. It's going to be natural

were not going to fight it and it wiped out that

Paul stand of lodgepole pines it used to basically

drive through a lodgepole tunnel until you got to

the Madison River Junction and then it was all

gone. Nothing but cinders and even some of the

tree trunks within a period of two or three years

toppled over and you just had barren landscape.

It's now been what 35 or 40 years sense that fire

what was that 87 or something like that.

Yeah, its 30+ yes.

30+ years and you just now are at a point where

you have what I would call a young maturing

forest you don't have any tall trees, none there

are probably 60 or 70 trees per acre. And there's

other growth in their but trees are starting to

become predominant in that landscape again

but not tall. Okay, if you're talking about this

community stewardship program or where

somebody is selectively trying to maintain it.

How different is his project look then that one?

I think when you have those kind of disruptive

structural changes you're going to be able to tell

it and notice that over time but let's say that we

decided that we are going to harvest with a

group selection approach to it, and so we are

taking a look at this clump of trees and its age

and its structure and then this one. And then this

one were to say basically we want to be able to

take and move this mosaic around over time and

you thin it out so that you always have a forest in

canopy over top. But they will be so many trees

per acre. Whether it's 20 or 80 at any one stage

or the other but as you remove the curial you

take material out that has commercial value. It

helps pay for the process and you don't have to

go to the bank of the Potomac to borrow money.

Do you think it's self-sustainable with the cost of

maintaining the forest because of the product

pulled out is going to equal the cost to maintain

it?

Absolutely. And it was going on before until we

got tied up into these neepa battles over the

NGOs and their approach to wanting to be able

to determine outcomes and what happens. We

stalled the whole thing out.

And so, explain how that process worked, what

happened there?

There was an approach of storage management

forest did areas that would say that in a given

period of time that the removals would equal

let's see 10, 15,000,000 feet per year. And if you

kept that up on a steady schedule and it should

be less than millions of board feet per year. But

more about acres treated and the objectives that

were going to put in on the ground for the

watersheds and the tree species that are there

then we would be looking at the means by which

how do we then make those selections and do it

in a fashion so that the courts and the neepa

challenges don't unnecessarily, the appeals and

lawsuits choke it down.

So how different is that doing this community

stewardship program. How is that different than

just doing timber sales to achieve that goal

through the forest service?

I think when you hang a commercial label on it.

It naturally takes on an air of skepticism as

opposed to something that would say the

beneficiaries of this are the families that

communities that are in and around that need

tourism that need that would material and need

to have jobs for their people and the way that

you that is to just say basically you have working

circles. And here's another working circle and in

those areas there. They need to determine a

forest management approach that whether it's

going to be a selective harvest or it's going to be

even eight harvest or whatever it takes. And

then you say this is what we're going to offer but

you are also going to say to that that particular

community you come up with your family

stewards that are going to live there and they're

going to take on these contracts and these jobs

to do this thing. There is a working model for this

right now and it's called grazing. This simply

mirrors that same approach so as to whether

you have four or five contract entities, or you

have one large or one mill they would be

responsible for going out and making an

assessment and then making an offer back to

the forests and say, were going to do X in this

period of time, and we will pay you this for it.

And so, they would actually be paying for the

process. Kind of like when they would do timber

sales except that it would be over a longer

period of time?

Over a. Of time that there would be annual

increments based on what's removed and that

would be to some prescription that actually

enhances the situation so that you don't end up

with a forest that's standing ready to collapse

either through a insect attack and/or fire.

So, what does a healthy forest look like?

Well, that's a good one because to me it has

several age classes and it. Scattered around on

it. You might even have two or three different

species but you look up in the crowns and you

can tell because they're all cone shaped but

they're topped off and flat and no full age that

particular forest is going through a phase where

it's going to eventually drop per collapse.

Really?

Yes

so, to get that cone shape the trees. If I'm

guessing they need light. And so, you've got

have them thin enough that they can fill out at

the bottom and create that cone shape at the top

of the trees.

And moisture and some trees need more shade

than others other tree species need more

sunlight, so you get a mixture of that as you go

along through that.

Does it have open space in the middle of it?

It sure does and it sure can and sure should and

an edge in the interior and then at a particular

point in time when it's restocked so that it goes

from that say having any thing from 80 to 100

trees per acre as its thins itself out. You're

probably going to end up with a net number of

trees out there somewhere around 40 and that

acre has enough moisture and enough sunlight

and other conditions that allows it with its own

productivity to grow up over that period of time.

And then it goes on into something that can be

18 and 24 and 36 inches in diameter and 82 150

feet tall.

And then you pull those trees out and.

Selectively.

Selectively and so you've got, you've basically

have within a 60 or 70-acre area a little bit of

everything?

Yes, in actuality what you want to do is have it in

such a condition so that you don't have fuel

ladders from the littlest trees to the next size

trees so that when the ground fire comes

through the grass. It goes right to the top, so you

need breaks in their so that it does not do that,

and you have time to react to a ground fire those

are all things that contribute to that particular

mosaic as you select for those conditions over

150 to 200-year period, you know the problem is

we don't live to be 300 years old.

Right.

We look at it through the eyes of what we see

right now today without realizing that there's

other conditions coming. So that's the

opportunity that's out there.

So, do you think that a lot of this environmental

meandering into land policy has to do with the

fact that weird looking at a lifecycle that's 300

years and were trying to interpret into 70?

Or 20 to 70 years or whatever the case may be,

yes, I think is we are if you will shortsighted

without knowing what the and result could

possibly be.

One last question. If this community forest

stewardship program had been in place 10 to 12

years ago with the outcome of the steed sawmill

in Escalante been different?

Yes, and the one in beaver M would still be able

to keep the one in Panguitch functioning as we

look ahead at this yes you still. You see, instead

of having people knocking heads over a

1500-acre tract or a 2000-acre tract you would

say basically all right we're going to talk about

working circles and it's going to have so many

acres and so much standing forest capacity that

needs so much activity and so much work. We

want you to give us a proposal for a 20-year

period. And when that period is defined then you

write a contract and then you write the

processes by which it's carried out and then the

removals are balanced on that and then the

payments start to take place.

And then the forest service still has some

oversight capacity to make sure that the

standards of what it supposed to look like at the

end of the 20 years is what they envisioned.

Absolutely, and once again they have a working

model for this now in their livestock grazing

programs.

Okay.

With a UN's and operators.

It's a fascinating concept, I hope people listen.

I do to were going to work on it.

Thanks Jim for taking the time.

You bet.

Thank you for joining us, will be back right now

and we will take a look a little closer to what

healthy versus unhealthy versus burnt looks like

here on the County seat will be right back.

Welcome back to The County Seat. WE

were only able to air about 12 minutes of

our conversation on "Community

Stewardships", If you can get the time to

catch the entire 24 minute conversation

it is an excellent investment in time and

understanding of the issue.

One of the things that was hard for Jim

to convey in our conversation is what a

healthy forest is supposed to look like; as

opposed to what we think It should look

like; and what it does look like (up close)

after a fire. So prior to our in studio

discussion Commissioner Matson took us

out on the ground to see for ourselves,

first hand.

Best conditions we could have in here would be

tree densities that typically do not exceed sixty

trees per acre as a result of the crowns

interlocking and the material on the ground the

fire that would start on the downhill side or on

the south west side would roll through here at a

very fast clip during drought and dry conditions

that would be anywhere from five to ten miles

an hour. The condition we are going to look at

next is in a managed stand where its full size

trees which has less trees per acre and the

crowns are not interlocking and if anything they

contribute to openness and therefore wouldn't

have a crown fire that would start at the ground

level and sweep right to the top and then right

across the landscape.

As we continue to stroll along we can see that

the older bigger trees that were taken out in

the previous harvest are represented by these

stumps.

This stand in this area has probably had three

total entries up until the current time it's had a

thinning operation in here where they have

thinned it out trying to obtain somewhere in

the neighborhood of sixty trees per acre.

You do not see a fuel ladder situation here

where you have lots of little trees that stair step

themselves up to about twenty feet tall. So if

you have a ground fire or some kind of event

like that in this particular stand it's not likely it

will take the whole thing out and you are able

to get on top of it before the fire takes it all

completely out. Overall I would give this

particular stand an A I think it's in good shape

This is the shingle fire it's about six years old

I'ts man caused it started off at one of these

canyon points to the south of us. I think overall

when you look at this you can see the clumps of

this biased on the area we were before this is

much the same situation with the black jack

ponderosa pine intermediate size tree making

up so many clumps. If we had previous

treatments in here we wouldn't have had near

the losses we have had so as a result it's just

kind of like take care of it now or you will have

to take care of it later. It requires activity and

forest management

I will be back with some closing thoughts

in just a minute.

Welcome back to The County Seat. As

discussions and ideas were floating back

and forth between Commissioner

Matson, Forest expert Tom Quigley and

myself, regarding this episode, there was

some concern about equating

Community Stewardship agreements to

grazing allotments, although they would

work in a very similar fashion. For the

most part grazing allotments are a win-

win proposition as the BLM gets

someone else to bear the cost and

responsibility to keep the range in good

health and they in turn can make a few

dollars by running cattle to keep the

grass in check. But somehow, if the

private sector makes a cent off of

government land, the popular thought is

that it is a rip off to the American Public.

This is a silly notion, but it is pervasive in

federal land management. Remove the

grazing leases, and the range will still

have to be treated to keep wild grasses,

forbes and junipers from running amok,

except instead of getting paid, the U.S.

Treasury has to pay out. The same is

true with the forest: heaven forbid you

could let anyone remove fiber from the

forest before it has rotted past any

commercial value and you have to pay a

contractor to dispose of it. This same

thinking can be applied to horses, drilling

and a host of other activities that have a

viable private sector value that would

allow Uncle Sam to get some cash back

from Mother Nature. But to many, such

folly should be criminal.

We have to rethink how we perceive the

resources (particularly the renewable

ones) we have on our public lands and

find a way for the land to be self-

sustaining, and the cost of getting there

to be the same (self-sustaining) . That is

my two cents worth for today, thanks for

joining us. Please help us go and grow by

following us on YouTube and Facebook

and sharing our posts with your friends.

Thanks for watching, and we will see you

next week, on The County Seat.

an hour. The condition we are going to look at

have a crown fire that would start at the ground
