Why Aren't You Watching the World Cup? - Duration: 2:19.
If you're not watching the World Cup— why not?
Everybody else is.
Literally. 3.2 billion people—
almost half the world's population tuned in the last time around,
and it's sure to be more this time.
I'm Noah Feldman. This is The Method,
where I break down hard questions into the ideas and values behind them.
Start with the possibility that you're an American
who has no interest whatsoever in soccer at all, to say nothing
of the World Cup itself. According to that view,
Americans have no dog in this fight. We don't even call
the sport—which everyone else calls football—by the same name
as everybody else calls it. We've got basketball.
We've got baseball. We've got football.
And there's the Olympics if you want to throw in a little bit of internationalism.
But ultimately, why watch a sport that you don't really understand?
That doesn't make a lot of sense. And where—let's be honest—
not very many goals are scored.
It's just not the American way.
The core value here is watch the sports you like,
and if you don't have a feeling for soccer,
it's stupid to watch the World Cup.
On the other hand, consider the fact
that there's a connection between all of those 3.2 billion people
when they watch the World Cup.
There is no other comparable event on Earth that draws
that many people, with that much intensity, who care that deeply
about the events that are taking place. It's fun. It's joyful.
It's a way for connecting. And it matters tremendously
to fans of football—which they call real football—
everywhere else in the entire world.
To avoid involvement in that,
because you just kind of don't like the sport,
it's saying a big no to the whole human family,
almost all of which thinks that there's something beautiful
and simple about a game that can be played with just one ball and
your feet. According to this view, sports bring us
together into the human community, and if you walk away
from the most appealing sport on Earth, you're just a big
naysayer. You should know who Cristiano Ronaldo is.
You should know the name Lionel Messi, and above all
you should know the name Mohamed Salah.
So do you think you have every right to ignore sports you find boring,
or do you think it's worth learning just a little bit
in order to share with the rest of the family of humanity?
Make your choice, and you'll know who you are.
What do you think? Let us know in the comments,
and by all means, tell us if you have
questions or ideas for future episodes.
Thanks for watching.

Hiking in Northern Finland Wilderness - One Week in the UKK - Duration: 46:42.
Hello and welcome along a hiking trip in Northern Finland
we´re at UKK National Park again
we´ve been here several times but
it´s a large and great park with so much to see
we will see some new places again
We´ll begin at Suomujoki river - thanks for coming along
Today is the second day already
I´ve spent a day and a night here
I started at noon yesterday from this fell hotel
I climbed the nearest felltop from the hotel
I could see many familiar views from the top
The highest fell of the park still had some snow on it
these sharp felltops are called Nattas -fells
Then it was time to get going
I passed a lake and headed towards on of the rivers
First night I camped nearby a wilderness cabin
I met some other hikers too
most of them were on their way back already
it´s good to hear from others
there are often some informative things to be heard
I was exhausted and slept well the first night
All the beds on my train to the north were taken
I tried to get some sleep on a regular seat
it´s not easy on a train
I did get a couple of hours of sleep but
I felt pretty exhausted after a night spent in the train
Last night made up for it though
I slept great in my hammock
This morning I got on trail again, along this river
I´m at a camping spot now
We´ll be heading towards the center of the park
I like this spot very much
A great place for camping but
There´s a wilderness cabin nearby
about a mile from here
hikers mostly head to the cabin area
I actually didn´t mean to stop here, but
I messed up a little when crossing the river
The water level was higher than I thought
Both of my boots took a lot of water
I had to stop and dry my socks and insoles
I hope to get to see two famous gorges on this trip
"Paradise gorge" and "Devil gate", as they are named in Finnish
They are among the most famous places here
I haven´t visited neither
so now I will
I hope it will be clear enough
The gorges are high up on a fell
the felltop can be covered by clouds
Can´t see anything inside a rain cloud
Here´s a wilderness cabin, Porttikoski
On our last trip in March we stayed in the cabin for two nights
The nights were horribly cold at -30C (-22F)
The snow was 75cm deep (2.5 feet)
A little different now in the summer
In March there were a lot of people in the park
cabins fill up quickly
Early summer is actually a lot quieter here
Suomujoki is a magnificent wilderness river
This is a river valley amidst the fells
the river banks are awesome
beautiful scenery
We begun at this camp site
and arrived shortly onto the cabin
and to the bridge here
we´ll go on and look for a route
along a smaller stream
and over a fell
we´ll target this wilderness cabin area here
there´s two of them close to each other here
The gorges are nearby
"Paradise gorge" and "Devil gate"
I´m hoping to visit them tomorrow
This stream is usually crossed further up
the water here is shallow and the current gets stronger
an easy crossing
On the other side used to be a maintained camp site
it´s not maintained anymore
they haven´t supplied any firewood in years
it´s still marked on maps though
can be a little confusing
but it´s within park rules to collect firewood these days
Here used to be a plank bridge also
I think it was marked on maps too
a park ranger told me earlier that
the bridge was removed due to poor condition
and that it won´t be replaced
because the stream is easy to cross in many places
it looks like people still want to cross here
there´s three trunks over the stream
someone even made a railing
I don´t think I would go over on these
considering the added weight of the backpack
I´ll have a break and some dry bread
There´s plenty of kilometres to go
I´ll get hungry before reaching
today´s destination
I have some dry rye bread and salami, not bad
here´s the bread
salami and butter of course
Fat and salt
both good for regaining strenght
Good morning
it´s a rainy day
it rained most of the night too
the rain woke me up a couple of times
earlier the rain stopped for a while
but it started again
a shower after shower, not much in between
not sure if it really stops in between
I´m using my rain poncho as cover for my oats
So I arrived here at night
Don´t know at what time but
it was 1.30am when I got my camp set up
it took me some time to get here
and before I got to lay down
I had a very good night´s sleep
Didn´t really matter that the rain woke me
I felt fine and rested when I got up
even if I woke up a few times during the night
That´s just regular oats in there
and a berry mix
for some extra taste
I have too much water in there,
don´t know what I was thinking
Coffee should be ready by now
something to bring up the spirits
I need to decide for today´s hike
before that I´ll just relax
I´m hoping for the rain to stop
and possibly for the weather to clear
Not sure about going up the fell
The rain isn´t much of a concern, but the fog
Not much point going up to the fog
Can´t see anything up there
I´ll just take it easy for now
have my oats and coffee
the plan for today will come
This is Sarvioja wilderness cabin
Lot of people here last night
must´ve been a dozen backpacks here
So I was thinking, I´ll pack up now
and if I feel hungry when I´m done
I´ll make lunch before
heading on up the fell
Oats alone won´t
do for very long in the day
could get hungry again quick
so I was thinking ahead about that
Okay, we´ll head up and over the fell
we´ll go through the ´Devil gate´
on the way we should get
a look at ´Paradise gorge´
it´s foggy, but hope we´ll see around some
we´ll know in just a while
on the other side of the fell
we´ll reach another camp site
I´m just eating a few pieces of bread
not lunch yet
A mug of water from the stream
Ok, we´re ready to move on
that seems to be our trail there
an old, worn path
It´s easily the coldest day so far
Very chilly, a couple of degrees above zero
the wind has picked up too
the clouds are hanging low
sweeping the top of the fells as they go
beautiful in it´s own way
´Paradise gorge´ begins
Not bad
a very steep edged gorge
in between the fells
Visibility is really bad
We´re further up the gorge
like a field here
right at the side of a fell
very open and flat
lot of water flowing down
we came from there
there´s a small pond at the end
we´re on a felltop between the gorges
not a lot of fun actually
stormwinds and hailstone
horrible weather to be up here
this is the ´Devil gate´
can´t see much of it
(we´re up at around 600 meters)
it was crazy at the highest elevation
luckily I`m on my way down now
the wind was horrible up there
Maybe I should I add a toboggan to my summer gear
would be a good slide down
stopping is another story
This is not a good day to be up here
horrible weather
I just came through the gorge quickly
not a good weather for the scenery
it´s raining a mix of water and sleet
it melts immediately on the ground but
it is wet snow coming down
Now I really
need a campfire
my hands are numb and I´m wet
need to reset
it was pretty extreme high on the fell
the wind is unforgiving
and the sleet feels stingy in the wind
I thought it was hailstone
that hurt my face
but I guess it was just sleet
and the high winds
Good morning!
This is a very well known place in the park
among Luirojärvi lake for example
The turf hut here was originally made in early 1950´s
I just happened to read about it
the hut was constructed in 1953-54
The weather today
is still cold and windy
the sun
just peeks from behind the clouds
very short moments of sunlight
it´s also been raining and sleeting this morning
how about that for summer weather
luckily the outhouse is nice and tidy
had to rush in from the camp
two mugs of strong coffee in the morning
really make my abdomen work
For toilet paper I like use
this kind of hand towel paper
they are separate sheets
the paper is stronger than regular toilet paper
being outdoors my hands are often a little cold and stiff
it´s just not the same as going to the toilet at home
a stronger paper is better in my opinion
tougher paper that won´t break so easily
that´s nasty if the paper breaks while using it
paper like this can´t be used in normal water toilet
but out here it doesn´t make a difference
it´s lunch time already, I´m a slow starter specialist
it´s good to eat before hitting the trail
it´s a spicy chicken soup
dehydrated ground chicken
it works well
when preparing a meal
I used to dehydrate the chicken as strips,
it doesn´t work - the meat is chewy and rubbery
it also got stuck in my teeth all the time
not good at all
ground chicken works very well when dehydrated
I have some vegetables here
some onion and red beans,
a chicken flavour stock cube
a little turmeric,
hence the yellow vcolor
some bay leaf
to add flavor to the soup
So I ate my soup
it´s 4pm
we´re heading forward
we´ll follow a river up north
for 16 kilometres (10 miles)
the destination is Jyrkkävaara camp site
tomorrow we are likely to return
to Suomujoki river, same river we begun at
then I´ll have to make
more plans for the coming days
I had a lot of rest today
relaxing by a fire
I got soaked yesterday on the fell
and I got a little cold too
at night I was very warm in my sleeping bag, but
after I got up,
I kept shivering a little
I had put on all my clothes
I had a good time
sitting by a fire, relaxing
Once again, I´m impressed with the vast space
I was thinking
I´m on a 16km hike up a
wilderness river
not a single house or anything
just me and the wild nature
man, that water is clear
looks stunning
It´s the fourth day of hiking
to be honest, my feet are heavy and clumsy
and on top of that, I have
some sort of stinging muscle pain in my right ankle
a long, narrow area of pain along my foot
on the inner side of the ankle, hurts with every step
I need to get the muscles relaxed
along the trail I stopped many times
just lifting the sore foot
and wiggle it to relax the muscles
it helped for a while each time
must be a strained muscle
yesterday on the fell was rough
the climb between the gorges was insane
we started at Muorravaarakka today
followed the river
we´re now at an old campsite here
the scenery in between was great
sparse pine forests
vast, open views
at times the trail would separate from the riverbank
only to return later
nice fell scenery on both sides of the trail
a very pleasant trail on even ground
not much ups or downs
from here we´ll continue on
to the next campsite
still following the river
and then a shorter hike unto Jyrkkävaara
I made a wrong crossing there
the main channel makes an S-turn there
then there are two smaller streams
I wasn´t supposed to cross the main river
only the other one of the smaller but
I somehow misunderstood the terrain
and crossed the main river channel
after I while I realised I´m on the wrong side
I´d have to go back
the correct crossing was easy and short
at least I got my feet rinsed well!
It´s now 11.15pm
beautiful white night
nightless night
there´s a little sunlight in the horizon
the sun hasn´t shined today
maybe five minutes total
not very much
heavy overcast
some rain earlier in the day
very good atmosphere on a white night
the birds are different than during the day
light has a different tone
wind has stopped, so it´s nice and calm
This is Jyrkkävaara wilderness cabin and campsite
haven´t been here before
seems quiet
I found a good camp spot
there´s this pond behind the cabin
the cabin is on a hill there
over there
good camp ground here
and a good fire ring, so I stayed here
I made a small fire and
I´ll hang my hammock back there
I picked the trees already
an amazing place, and
such a beautiful, clear and quiet summer night
I feel if I speak in a normal voice,
it´ll wake someone up in the cabin
it´s that quiet here
it´s a reasonably warm night also
earlier nights have been more chilly
and now that the wind has stopped,
it´s a very pleasant feel out here
So we spent the night here at Jyrkkävaara
and from here we´ll head
back to the river
we´ll follow it unto a crossing
then we´re back at Suomujoki river
we´ll take the crossing
and continue the hike along Suomujoki river
Okay, lets get going
some hikers arrived to the cabin
for the next night that is
it´s 2 in the afternoon
I guess I´m on a night shift again
the morning oriented people arrive
as I´m just starting the day
my ankle hurts, but
not as much as yesterday
I´ll warm up slowly
I believe I´ll manage just fine
This really lifts my spirit
seeing the blue sky for a moment
the days have been very cloudy
even if the clouds break up shortly
and the sun gets through
the clouds race fast on the sky
blocking the blue sky again
I really appreciate these clear moments
This is where the rivers meet
the distant sand bank
should be Suomujoki river bank
the river we followed, flows into it
yes, it´s definitely the river junction
that sand bank is impressive
seen from close by
looks massive
at least I won´t be crossing the bigger river
I came to check that shallow spot there
not much water there
but there´s a deep current next to it
not good for crossing, unless I´d have to
on the other side there are
historical sami habitation sites
I guess I won´t be seeing them
the river decided for me, which side to take
So we´ll be crossing the smaller river only
there´s the main channel
I´ll go back to see if I can cross there
that would be the shortest crossing
further down the stream the river widens
I could cross in three parts there
let´s go and see that part
Nah, forget it. Doesn´t look like a good spot at all
I´ll cross the wide part
likely in three parts from there
that should be okay
the last one is a minor side stream
I took my pants off for a fool proof crossing
to keep my pants dry
on an earlier crossing I got my pants wet
it´s not that warm so wet clothes are annoying
So please, pick your underpants accordingly
someone might see you in them
I don´t know about my pants, but generally speaking
Time for another footwash
damn that is cold at first
the water is not much above the knees at it´s highest here
so it´s not that big of a deal to cross
It would be nothing for someone who grew up here
they would´ve crossed many times while I was preparing
but that´s how it goes
if you don´t have a ton of experience on something,
it´s better to be safe than sorry, I think
that was the first part
how is the second stream?
similar as the first
maybe a little stronger current
the rocks are very round and slippery
It´s a magnificent wilderness river
I´ve loved every view of it
during the journey
great scenery
along the trails
looks like a bad spot on the other side...
nah I guess it´s fine
even the big rocks can be very unstable
The big river is so calm here
the waterflow is very serene
Wow such a nice place
good weather too
time for dinner
I´m hungry
Isn´t this something
My ankle pain seized mostly
I guess my feet were tired and
the fatigue was too much too soon
up on the fell
I simply just had my weight more
on the outer part of the foot
so that shifted the weight
the pain was relieved
I hope it´s not just temporarily
and would be okay for the rest of the trip
If it stays like this, I´m fine
Of course it is somewhat sore still
I had the pain for 36 hours or so, after all
now the pain is only a fragment of what it was
when I got on the trail today
I think I´ll have some beef
noodles
ground beef
beans
vegetables
maybe a little onion too
some spices of course
So this is what it looks like
doesn´t look like much, but
the nutrional values are actually pretty good on this
beef, red beans, vegetables
the noodles are whole grain
haven´t had them before
first time on this trip
whole grain noodles taste
better than the white ones, I think
That was good
Some strong coffee too
My eating habits
get a lot better here
I only eat when I´m clearly hungry
and if I´m not hungry,
I´ll just skip a meal and that´s it
I´ll eat when I actually am hungry then
so it´s not based on a daily schedule
I don´t have a lot of sweet stuff with me either
one hot chocolate drink per day
I usually have it at the end of the day
that has a ton of sugar of course
also the berry and fruit mix that
put into my oats in the morning, have sugar
those are my only sweets
At home it´s just too easy to eat anything
here it´s different -
I only have what I carry, and that´s it
there´s just no cravings for pizza or something
it doesn´t even cross my mind here
I wish I had that mentality at home
in day-to-day life
So I wouldn´t be tempted
It´s just too easy to eat random crap
that should be avoided
I´m done with the dinner,
the night shift continues forward
it´s 7.30pm already
time passes so quickly
it was 2pm when I left the camp
and it´s not along way here by any means
the river crossing took some time though
I´ll have to start thinking
about leaving the park
I have a long way still
today I will
hike as far as possible
Luckily the ankle pain is pretty much gone
maybe the protein-rich food
helped also, don´t know
not a bad thing for the healing at least
now I´m feeling very good
perhaps I´ll walk all night
we´ll see.
Suomujärvi campsite
gorgeus view on the river
the riverbanks in general are magnificent
there´s the historical
sami habitant area
I´m sorry I don´t know much about it
Koltta-sami habitant area from the past
I´m so glad it´s dry weather now
even a little sunshine amidst the clouds
during my time here,
very different stuff has come down
rainwater, sleet, hailstone, the whole repertoire
I´m genuinely grateful for the dry weather
after a few days on very unpredictable weather
It is truly serene and quiet now
the stillness of the night
it´s about 10pm
shame that the sun
is clouded, would be that high still
This is a historical site too
a campsite these days
here begins
a trail to Luirojärvi lake, the most famous place
a worn path too
most of the hikers go that way
it goes through a gorge
This log building was made in 17th century
it has been covered
with an outer frame to protect it
The original is inside
to keep it safe from the rain and snow
I guess it´s only the roof
can´t be that low of a building
It´s another new day
it´s the sixth day already
the basic camping tasks like
setting up and breaking camp, or
making food and such, are really starting to work well
not that I had any problems before, but
routine takes it on another level
getting practice every day, all day
Yesterday was awesome
best of the days so far
my ankle got better during the day
I got to hike as normal
I had a good feeling just going on without pain
at 11pm I arrived at Siikavuopaja campsite
hadn´t visited it before
the place was so great that, even though I could´ve
continued on the trail, I wanted to stay
because of how great the site was
There´s also a lean-to shelter there
other hikers were there
I camped on a hill near by
The night was a stunning white night again,
I was very comfortable sitting by a small fire
after setting up camp
I cooked some chicken and noodles
and a hot chocolate, and just staying the feeling the
nightless night of the North, and beautiful scenery
I slept for eight hours straight
a good nights sleep
The next morning was sunny
how about that, a sunny morning to wake up to
After leaving Siikavuopaja, I had to start thinking
about reaching the exit from the park
On the eighth morning, I had be
back at the hotel and boarding a bus home
In a vast area like this, it´s necessary to plan
the schedule towards the end
I still enjoyed the surroundings though
the river scenery
at a rapids I stayed for some time
just sitting there, listening and watching
I felt glad that a river like this is still in
it´s natural state, unmodified
preserved through the ages
Later in the evening I arrived at Lankojärvi lake
I decided to camp there again
I met another hiker,
who is also a passionate friend of the park
he was just starting his hike
there was a lot to talk about for the evening
about hiking, gear and such
it´s very good to meet likeminded people when hiking
The last leg of the trip goes back to the fell hotel
The route goes over a fell, and
there was a coincidence
the sky cleared just like on another trip before
the dark clouds cleared
and the sun came out
as I was ascending the fellside
I kept looking back to where I came from
a magnificent view with the sun out
Right next to the hotel is a campsite also
I hung my hammock there
for the last time on this trip, for one more night
as I was sitting by a fire, I was going through
the journey travelled and the places I went to
This turned out to be an awesome hike
even if it didn´t go according to plan
the famous gorges were supposed to be
the highlight of the trip, but the fog was really bad
and the weather is what it is, no arguing that
I had bad luck that day
But exploring the riversides was great
and they turned out to be the best days
I loved the river scenery
the rivers Muorravaarakka and Suomujoki
the parts that I hadn´t seen before
they became the highlights
the best experiences on this trip
This hike ends here (105km or 65 miles in total)
I had breakfast at the hotel
and I have an hour until my bus comes
at Rovaniemi I´ll hop on a train
going home to plan some new trips :-)
Thanks to all of you,
it´s great that so many people like to watch these
and so many have gotten new ideas from these
thank you for the feedback!
Thank you all, we´ll see in the next one!
Good bye!

The Try Guys Explain How to Be Internet Famous - Duration: 2:59.
- Hello, I'm Jordan Mendoza.
I'm here with some of the most popular people
on the internet at VidCon.
And I'm here with The Try Guys.
- Hey! (cheering)
- Thanks for doing the show, guys.
- Yeah, thanks for having us.
- Okay, I look like an idiot next to this guy.
- You look great.
- Can we get a box?
- We can switch places if you want.
- Yeah, we can put Zach by you.
- Yeah, Zach's tiny. - I'm used to that.
- This is great.
- Now you look really small.
- Wow, you're making Zach look like an idiot.
- You guys have millions of views.
I wanna do exactly what you're doing.
How do I become internet popular without having much talent
at all?
- I mean, it's pretty doable.
- Your vids get millions of views.
How hard does that make you?
(laughing)
For example, I got 700 followers this morning
and I went to town on myself.
- Wow.
- That's actually in a morning that's a great number.
700 more a morning, that's great.
- That's 700 total.
- Oh, you got to 700?
- Got to 700 followers on Instagram.
- Great.
- Follow me on Instagram.
- Okay.
- Just take out your phones and the first person
to follow me on Instagram wins.
- And what's the prize?
- Anyone have $20?
- Yeah, I'll do that. - Let's do it.
- You gotta tell me the name.
What's the name?
- Oh, yeah, jordypizza.
- Got it. - Dammit!
- You really do only have 700 followers.
Famous internet person convention and you have 700
in his account.
(laughing)
I thought that was a bit.
(laughing)
- Let's see what your story is.
- [Jordan] That's my friend Chris.
- Cotton? - Right here is fine.
- [Jordan] Yeah, he's in the background.
- Cotton has almost 2,000.
- Cotton has 2,000.
- Cotton has more than you!
- That's respectable.
- Cotton, what are you up to?
- Cotton, get up here.
- Alright, you guys have millions of views.
I want to do exactly what you're doing.
What are the principles of becoming popular on the internet
when you aren't that talented?
- First of all, I think you're very talented.
- I don't know what you're doing tonight
but there's a party.
We can talk shop.
- The five of us are going to party.
- Jordan, we're talking here.
What did you say?
- You're welcome to chill with us later.
- The whole point of this convention is about meeting
people, meeting of the minds.
- [Chris] As long as there's only five of us, I'm in.
- Yeah, it is a five-person table so beyond that we'd be...
- I'm in, man. - [Keith] Great.
- I happy to be accepted by this dude.
(cheering)
Group hug, baby!
It's official.
- So there you have it.
That's how you become internet popular.
I'm Jordan Mendoza.
This is my segment and these are my friends,
the five Try Guys and thank you for watching.

Shape The Path - Ep. 42 - Duration: 4:26.
In the last forty-one episodes, we covered two of the three major concepts in helping
people to make a switch as described in the book Switch by the Heath brothers: directing
the rider and motivating the elephant.
Today, I'm going to introduce the final major concept: shaping the path.
Imagine that someone just cut you off in traffic.
You probably have an opinion about the character of a person who would do such a thing.
You may think they are careless and self-centered.
Now think of a time when you yourself were in a hurry to get somewhere and needed to
make a last-minute lane change.
Do you think of yourself as a careless and self-centered person or was it the situation
that affected your behavior?
If you remember way back in episode one, I talked about Brian Wansink's experiment of
measuring the weight of popcorn buckets as people left the theater and how it seemed
that there were gluttons and reasonable snackers in the audience and yet the only determining
factor in how much someone ate was the size of the bucket.
Attributing to character the behaviors that are actually attributable to the situation
is committing the fundamental attribution error.
Here's Lee Ross on the fundamental attribution error:
As lay psychologists - as ordinary people walking around, when we're asked to explain
events or account for behavior, we characteristically cite things about the actor - the actor's
personality.
So we talk about some people who are brave and some people who are cowardly or some people
who are adventurous or others who are shy.
And that's the way we normally think about things, but there's an interesting research
tradition in psychology which showed that if you expose people to situations (usually
novel situations under well-controlled circumstances and, to some extent, even if you observe them
in their day-to-day life) the degree of cross-situational consistency in behavior is relatively low.
The people who are kind of boisterous and loud in the dining hall aren't necessarily
the people who are outgoing at parties or the people who are willing to put up their
hand in class.
A classic example of the fundamental attribution error was described by W. Edwards Deming.
He talked about a company that used highly flammable materials in its production process
and fires frequently broke out at its manufacturing facilities.
The president of the company thought he had a people problem.
He sent a letter to every employee pleading with them to set fewer fires.
The Fundamental Attribution Error is what makes television shows like The Dog Whisperer
and Supernanny compelling.
In these shows, seemingly irredeemable dogs and children are reformed by expert outsiders
who apply a new form of discipline.
The transformations are surprising because we commit the fundamental attribution error
when the show begins and see the dog or the child's behavior as reflecting deep character
traits rather than reflecting the environment we find them in.
The importance of the environment or situation makes it clear that you can change people's
behavior by simply changing the environment.
You make the journey to the desired behavior easier.
You provide little nudges towards the desired behavior.
You remove friction and show the people signs along the way that they are making progress.
In other words, you shape the path.
In upcoming episodes, I will show you some of the Heath brothers' techniques for shaping
the path and how to apply the techniques to shape the path for software teams.

The Presidential Candidate Promising Free Ponies - Things You Might Not Know - Duration: 3:12.
I'm thinksojoe, this is "Things You Might Not Know," and I think I've
found who I'm voting for in the next election!
Vermin Love Supreme – yes, that is indeed his real name – has run for office in the
United States, both in local and national elections.
I'm not kidding.
This gentleman, shown in the photo to my right wearing a boot on his head, has run for President
of the United States.
Several times, in fact.
His campaign promises are just as bizarre as his look.
He claims that if elected president, he would pass a law requiring people to brush their
teeth.
His campaign platforms have consisted of zombie apocalypse awareness, time travel research,
and free ponies.
Vermin Supreme is quite the mysterious individual.
He changed his name legally in the 1990s, and nobody – save for one anonymous individual,
apparently – seems to know what his birth name was.
It is known that he currently lives in Massachusetts with his wife, and that he recently donated
a kidney to save his ailing mother.
Although he has recently ran for president as a Democrat, he previously ran as a Republican.
His political views are somewhere in between a Republican and a Libertarian.
His free pony campaign promise is an effort to create jobs and reduce American dependence
on foreign oil.
Also, he promises to find an energy source based on "the awesome power of zombies."
Running under a campaign slogan of "A vote for Vermin Supreme is a vote completely thrown
away," Supreme actually managed to finish fourth in the New Hampshire Democratic primary
in 2016, beating out other lesser known candidates such as Rocky De La Fuente, John Wolfe Jr,
and Keith Russell Judd.
However, he was not invited to that year's Lesser Known Candidates forum, as in 2011
he glitter-bombed fellow candidate Randall Terry at a similar event.
Of course, he showed up anyway.
So, what's up with this guy's appearance?
It's not often you see a guy walking around with a boot on his head, after all; particularly
one running for President of the United States.
He claims that it was a "rainy day in Rainbow land" and he decided to wear one of his
galoshes on his head, which turned out to be magical.
He claims the boot stays on his head by a combination of gravity and friction, so as
he moves around, the boot manages to stay on – unless he's in a mosh pit.
In that case, he finds himself having to hold it on.
"… my elbows are high.
Not good in a mosh pit at all."
Man.
A Presidential candidate who promises ponies, protection from a zombie apocalypse, throws
glitter at other candidates, and likes to get in mosh pits?
I am ABSOLUTELY voting for this guy if he runs again in 2020!
So, did you know about this outlandish Presidential candidate, Vermin Supreme?
