There's only dissatisfaction here.

An incomplete puzzle game.

I'm nothing like you,

You look at me with indifference.

The seasons continue to change, but

You're still the same bad person.

I can barely hold on,

but I can't let go.

I'm too exhausted

to feel anything.

I'm nothing like you,

You look at me with regret.

The seasons continue to change, but

The Best Bar to Watch Argentina in the World Cup || Devoted - Duration: 4:55.

(crowd roaring)

- [Alexis] Guys, 2018 World Cup is here.

Argentina is about to play.

Where else would you want to watch an Argentinian game

besides an entire restaurant named after

one of the biggest clubs in Argentina?

We're standing in front of Boca Juniors.

It's 8am in the morning.

I guarantee there's someone drinking beer.

Let's go meet some of these fans.

(mid-tempo band music)

- [Crowd] Argentina, Argentina, Argentina.

- We are in the middle of Boca Juniors Restaurant.

We're in Elmhurst, Queens.

If you can't tell, this place is jammed with Argentinians.

This is where you want to go if you're an Argentina fan.

You probably could just show B-roll.

This place is wall-to-wall Boca Juniors.

- [Matt] We have right over here in Corona, man.

It's a mini Buenos Aires over there.

We have a huge Argentinian population.

Every loves soccer around here.

- How does it normally look for Argentina games --

is it normally like this?

- Yeah, man.

(crowd roaring)

- Yeah, it gets crazy out here.

- What makes you guys such big

Argentinian national team fans?

- [Guy in Black] It's not that we're fans,

we're (foreign language) Argentina.

We're Argentinian.

- [Girl in White] My boyfriend's Argentinian,

my dad is Argentinian, so.

- Start with the dad on that one, damn.

- [Guy in Stripes] You can live your life,

but once the World Cup comes and Argentina is playing

(bleep) work, (bleep) everything else.

This is all that matters.

- [Male Fan] We grew up watching

the best players in the world.

- You don't have a choice, right?

When you're Argentinian.

- We don't have a--

We don't, we do not.

- Can you be Argentinian and not be a fan of

the Argentinian national team?

- No.

- [Guy in Gray Tee] No! Never!

- No, if you're Argentinian--

- [Screaming Guy] We'll (bleep) kill you.

- (laughing) That guy's wearing an NYPD shirt, by the way.

- We do have a lot of Italian background.

- Yeah.

- Germans, also.

But you know, we don't talk about Germans.

- We don't talk about that.

- [Lady in Red] (speaking foreign language) from Russia

with love.

- Everybody here wants to be for Argentina.

Doesn't matter if you're Columbian.

Doesn't matter if you're Argentinian.

- [Guy in Hat] You know we're playing on Tuesday,

but that's fine, man.

You know, we still support.

- You got some (foreign language) in the house.

- I sneaked out of work to come watch the game.

- And you're on camera.

- Yeah, bro.

I don't give a

(bleep) about my boss. - Damn, you don't give a sh*t.

- Yeah, if he's easy, (bleep) his ass.

- All right look, it senses hell right now.

I'll be eating some empanadas.

This reminds me of my youth growing up without a father.

Oh, things are getting weird.

(relaxing music)

First of all, perfectly fried outer shell, beautiful gold.

Look at that chicken.

(relaxing music)

They also do beef empanadas.

You can tell the difference in the way they're braided.

This is the beef.

(relaxing music)

Every time you take a bite,

it kind of washes your palate away.

I can't even think of anything else to eat

while I'm really, really tense.

(relaxing music)

(crowd chanting in foreign language)

All right, so this means a lot to you, right?

- This means a lot.

- This is he last,

Messi's last World Cup. - And it's a tough one.

- It's looking too good, so far you know.

- All right, so, you can guarantee that right now

Argentina wins the World Cup, or you can never have

matambre again?

Would you take that deal?

I'll go vegan if Argentina wins.

- Would you take that deal?

- No, no.

- Would you take that deal?

- Yes.

- Absolutely, I'll be vegan for the rest of my life!

- You're the second and third person

who said they'd become Vegan.

- You go vegan, and you can't have mate ever again.

- Coffee all day, it doesn't matter.

- Coffee all day.

- It doesn't matter.

- What if I said you can win the World Cup,

you can keep eating asada,

but you couldn't see your family for a year.

Would you take that deal?

- That's fine. That's fine.

Honestly, they could probably use a break from me

after the World Cup, so that's fine.

(Alexis laughs)

(crowd ranting)

- Not exactly the result everyone wanted, 1-1 draw.

Ready?

- This is not a defeat.

This is just a warm-up.

- Just a warm-up.

I had a blast.

A lot of drums, a lot of singing, a lot of love.

- What do you mean?

- It wasn't the worst situation, you could've lost.

- No, no, no, no, what?

- It wasn't great.

- This was just a warm-up.

- But let me tell you something, you can see the passion,

you can see the excitement, you can see how everyone hangs

on every single moment.

- [Guy With Scarf] Let me tell you something.

- Hey, this guy's back.

- This is just practice.

- You told us that already.

- Yeah, I know. I did.

But when the potatoes are hot,

Argentina always come through.

- That is true,

that is true. - I have no idea

what that means.

- That means that we got the (foreign language).

- Potatoes, eggs -- a lot of nicknames for balls.

I get it.

- We got the balls

so (bleep) come through. - You mean, balls.

If you want to watch Argentina play a World Cup game,

they got a lot of games left, this is obviously

the place to come.

(calm world music)

- [Guy in Black Tee] 100% Argentina.

- 100% -- what about you, man?

- [Man in Glasses] You know, not really.

- Wow, we're cutting this out.

- Piking your team at random would seem kind of cheap.

- Well, now you just (bleep) on what he said.

- It's not random if you have money on them to win the Cup.

- There you go.

- Spain, baby, Spain!

- Here on Thrillist, we're gonna find

the best places to watch, the best teams,

and some great fans.

(lively music)

This is how you know you're at Centro Español de Queens.

It's this sticker right here.

So your first instinct would be to try to pull this door.

That's not how you get in, though.

This sticker just lets you know

you're around the corner to a door

with no sign and no sticker.

I don't know how it works.

But there's food and people inside.

Let's go check it out.

(lively music)

This is the front door to Centro Español.

You can barely tell; it's like tinted windows,

there's no sign, it says it's a Moose Lodge up there.

But everyone else seems to know, so now I know.

(crowd cheering)

They love Spain here.

We're in Centro Español.

As you could see, this is the tavern area.

There's also a dining area here.

These are some serious, serious fans.

What exactly is this place?

- This is the best-kept secret.

It's a cultural organization that promotes

the culture of Spain.

- It also gets a little rowdy.

There's a lot of yelling, it's a lot of fun.

- Woo!

(crowd cheers)

- Big Spain fan. My husband is Spanish so--

- So you have to?

- I have to, I'm obligated to.

- I'm not from Spain, but I'm a really big fan.

- Where are you from?

- Guatemala.

- What makes you connected to Spain?

- Me, I'm from Spain.

- I haven't seen your passport, OK,

so I don't know where you're from.

(crowd cheers)

- We are really amazing fans.

Even if we lose, we still have good vibes,

and I think that that's why many people

in the world, they love Spaniards.

- I came from Houston, Texas just to watch the game.

- They got no Spanish bars in Houston?

- They do, but this place is amazingly popular.

- Yeah, I mean we could see.

(crowd yelling)

Guys, I'm a fan of the US.

We're not in the World Cup, you might've heard, OK?

We're not the only ones: Italy didn't get in,

Chile didn't get in, Netherlands didn't get in.

I got no one to root for.

So let's see if these guys can make me a fan of Spain.

Why should I root for Spain?

I'll have you first.

- Because es la madre patria.

- It's the mother country?

- Spain paid for the Revolutionary War, baby.

- You got it, you got it.

- This is a history lesson.

I have not confirmed any of this.

I feel like these guys are editing Wikipedia right now, but.

What do you think could convince Americans

to become a fan of Spain?

- Spanish food is among the best in the world.

Just take your pick, it's all good.

- Guys, this is what rooting for Spain is all about.

They got cured meats, they got olives,

they got cheese, they got empanadas.

We got fried calamari; they even have the ones

with the little tentacles, you know what I mean?

Croquetas, this is like ham blended up

inside of deep-fried goodness.

Why wouldn't you want to root for Spain?

Come on.

In this segment I like to call Would You Rather,

we're about to find out just how big a fan they really are.

What if you could say that Spain

wins the World Cup right now, but you can't eat

your mom's paella for an entire year?

- Wow.

- Would you take that deal?

- You're a bad person.

- Oh man, I will take it.

We will have the second star, yes.

- Yes, I'll take that chance.

- Country before belly.

♪ Que viva España

- What about this, you could say

Spain wins the World Cup right now,

but you can't see your family for an entire year.

Would you take that deal?

- Spain winning the gold cup.

- That's just as important?

- It's right up there.

- You're not gonna see your family anyway.

- Yeah, that's a joke.

- You sound like my dad.

Would you take the deal?

- I prefer that Spain win the World Cup.

- What makes this place the perfect place

to see Spain play in the World Cup,

'cause we've had a lot of fun.

- It's the emotion, it's everybody

getting excited about it, enjoying the game,

and enjoying each other's company.

(crowd cheering)

- This guy's lit, that guy's lit, all of them are lit.

We're in Centro Español de Queens,

this is an absolutely amazing place to watch

a Spain game, you're surrounded by Spaniards,

everybody's enjoying themselves,

they're eating Spanish food,

they're drinking Spanish wine and Spanish beer:

What more could you possibly want?

This is a dope place, you gotta come out to Queens.

Maybe you find the front door, maybe you don't.

But if you do, you're gonna have a good time.

I'll see you guys if you show up.

(rhythmic electronic music)

Thank you very much. - Absolutely.

- You, you're rooting for the right team, lemme tell ya.

You're wearing Uruguay colors,

so you can hang out at this table,

but you're yelling Spain.

- We started at 6 o'clock this morning, brother.

- I know, I can smell it.

Testing Milton Friedman - Free Markets - Striking a Balance - Duration: 0:58.

Kevin Murphy: The key is:

we need to strike a balance between taking

care of things where regulation can work,

and where regulation reaches too far.

As Raghu said, I think it can reach too

far- and really squelch opportunity,

rather than foster opportunity.

But you also have to remember, and I think

Raghu was right, people move on.

It's not just them that move on, but it's

their children, and the children of many

people today who are very successful, went

to college, are people whose parents had

far less opportunity.

You can look at all the Asian immigrants

to the United States, many of whom are

Indian immigrants who came to the United

States who might own a convenience store,

and their children become doctors,

lawyers, move on.

So, that story that Milton told still

holds true today.

Milan BADELJ (Croatia) - Man of the Match - MATCH 40 - Duration: 1:19.

Congratulations on being the Man of the Match.

The group stage is over, after a bit of chaos it seems, but not for us.

We got through this smoothly without any problems.

To what do we owe this calmness?

First of all, thank you.

Maybe it seems smooth from this viewpoint, but if we didn't play right in every moment

of every match, the results would certainly be different

because these are all teams that deserve to be here,

that deserve to get through to the group stage.

I'm really proud of what our team has shown so far, and I hope and believe that we'll keep it up.

After three matches, three victories, you progressed smoothly.

The question must be raised: do you think we can achieve results like those in 1998?

I hope so.

It's something we're all striving for.

It's something we hope for especially because we have a team that could potentially do this.

But I'll say it again: we have to continue in the same way,

get better match after match, and I think this is the only right path for us.

Xiaomi Mi 8 SE Review - Give It A Month - Duration: 12:20.

Chris here back with the full review of Xiaomi Mi 8 SE so this is the smaller

model of the me eight and has a five point eight eight inch screen it's

powered by the Snapdragon 710 four to six gigabytes of RAM and to 64 gigabytes

of internal storage it is emmc fly point one's back and that

is all we get we don't have 128 or 256 gigabyte storage option which I feel is

an error considering that this phone you cannot expand upon that storage there is

no micro SD card support but the build quality of this phone is very good it

has a full metal frame all around the outside and we've got glass on the rear

so it's got a bit of a sony xperia meets iPhone 10 kind of look to it the quality

of it is good i've got middle buttons on the right-hand side one of them is

textured the power button so you can distinguish the difference between the

volume rocker and that button there the glass on the rear is 2.5 d and it's

quite easy to scratch I have noticed I've already got quite a few scratches I

don't even know how this has happened because I have been using a case now the

camera module you can see we've got obviously two cameras they're dual tone

LED flash the main sensor is 12 megapixels it has an F 1.9 aperture it

is a Sony AMX 363 sensor which is a decent sensor and used in a lot of

flagships it's the same sensor used in than me 8 but here it is lacking optical

image stabilization we only have electronic up to at the time of this

review only 1080p 4k currently does not work so that footage is shaky it does

take a really good photo but I'll get onto that later on in this review the

other camera below that is 5 megapixels that's just used for your portrait mode

or your depth effect blurred backgrounds up the top we have an IR transmitter

secondary mic for voice calls couple of antenna lines there down the bottom type

C port microphone loudspeaker now the type C port obviously or outputs audio

you have to use the adapter now when you use the adapter audio quality is good

it's very clear there's no hisses no static now I'll give you a sample of

that loudspeaker just mentioned that the loudest is good the

quality isn't super-high it can distort a little bit a hundred percent volume

but overall not a bad loudspeaker but here's that sample

and then on the left hand side of the device there is a sim tray yes it has a

notch so it's wider thus not than most other phones with notches it's a lot

wider than the one plus six it has a little smaller earpiece in here now call

quality and voice calls when you listen to them through this earpiece of course

sounds okay but not the best I believe it's probably because of the size of the

earpiece being smaller it just sounds a little flatter but the volume is all

right that comes out of it now we've got a front-facing LED flash for selfies and

the camera on the front here is 20 megapixels with an F 2.0 aperture it

tends to overexpose and this is a common thing that's been happening with xiaomi

phones onto the displays so it's a Samsung AMOLED panel and it's got a

really good brightness there's a 719 Lux maximum output really bright super

bright it's got good color reproduction the whites look good and you can of

course tweak that to your own personal preference through the settings now it

also supports HDR I only have one minor complaint with this otherwise really

great screen is that there blacks at certain angles don't look as deep as

they should now it's down to other two things I have worked out it's either the

glass they have used covering the AMOLED panel or it's not optically bonded there

may be a small gap between the AMOLED panel and then the glass or even maybe

perhaps a layer on top of the AMOLED panel that's the only thing but it is

just a very minor complaint this display is so much better than the likes of the

me 6 X's display or the redmi note 5 display they use IPS panels the 18 by 9

aspect ratio but this display here to me is just a lot better now the UI it runs

is me UI 9.5 that's shammies own and I won't go into a lot of detail with it

that it's got a lot of features on they've got things like double tapped

away we do have also and always-on display so that's something that's come

through of course with the AMOLED panel they can use that now at the moment in

time of this review all it can display is just your messages and the date and

the time that's it I really wish it would display other notifications if

they can allow us to customize that that would be great but it's really good

having this feature there of course it will slightly drain the battery now the

thing with the UI and the knotch too is that when you want to see the

notifications they're not actually there you have to swipe down the same goes for

the battery percent so that will not be displayed in the current setup and the

icon so Sherman's got a few patches to come through for this one clearly

because I've also seen some stutters with notifications swiping down has

sometimes being very laggy especially when you just turn on data or Wireless

and you start getting all those whatsapp notifications coming through there's a

lot of lag at times and the chipset is quite powerful and it's not a fold of

that the other thing to us notice just a couple of minor little bugs with the UI

that I've had icons on top of other ones so the ticks doubling up very minor and

also sometimes some lag when using full gesture mode just going through recent

apps so that's just a minor thing there's a few little bugs that they have

to iron out now performance of the phone in general is very good though when you

don't see any of that lag you've got an ante to score of almost 170,000 so that

puts it above the snapdragon 660 and the 6-3 six which is about 130,000 so

performance is good now the wireless I have a minor complaint here with a

whiner Wireless it doesn't seem to be as fast as other phones for some reason and

I cannot figure out what why this is I've done a lot of speed tests I've also

used apps like Wi-Fi sweet spot just to see their maximum throughput there and

it's falling below other phones I just believe a patch is probably needed again

software here isn't quite there at the moment with those GPS signal is good it

gets a fast lock also the internal storage is fast for the specs now we're

having a look at added battery life the battery capacity is 3121 hours so it's

not the largest because it is a smaller phone obviously they had to cut down

over for example a 3400 see in the me 8 but it did surprise with good battery

life here so with my own battery life tests that i do i do continual use i use

the phone quite demanding you can call a moderate to heavier

a lot of gaming and it managed to get close to eight hours on screen time so

you're gonna get about seven to eight hours out of this phone so there's

definitely a two day mobile phone the course depending on your use just take

this as a guide only charge times also very quick so it does support Qualcomm

quick charge three and in thirty minutes are challenging you can get around about

fifty percent battery life which is great and to fully charge takes just

over one hour and twenty minutes so all good there so to the main camera here it

can take a really nice photo a little bit oversaturated at times but I know

that most people will probably prefer these photos because the colors do look

great very nice and when you're viewing them

on the AMOLED panel do they look even oversaturated more perhaps it all

depends on how you have the screen calibrated but even getting is on my PC

looking at them I did a comparison against the ribbon note five and they

tended to be a little bit more saturated differently than the Rema note five but

it did lose out there with low light performance against that phone so make

sure you check out that review that camera comparison gaming performance so

a lot of games newer titles like pub she didn't actually order to Texas net

dragons 710 very well put it on the lowest settings but if you use

applications like GFX tool force it onto the high settings the game is still very

playable and it looks great so the performance here of the Snapdragon 17 is

great and even having a look at a lineage two revolution that even on the

highest settings very playable its smooth so good gaming performance I

think that what the well 1080p resolution which is this basically is

pushing it has no issues with all the demanding titles

so this is now shooting in 4k and you can see of course we get a lot more

detail the resolution is good now do have that image stabilization enable in

ceilings but you can see that clearly it is not working because the footage is a

little bit shaky and I don't have the steadiest of hands definitely noticeable

when you start to walk and move around average Xiaomi has to improve the audio

quality it's been a problem that we've had with my boss as a recent and

affecting mostly the flagships so hopefully with mui ten when that comes

out will improve the quality of the audio and give us electronic

stabilization face unlocking is also very quick it's fast and it's also very

unsecure there's a couple of videos that have been released one from china

especially that they managed to fool the camera with a simple a4 printout in

black and white of someone's face if I've got time I may do a video testing

that one out now to quickly recap here so we've got a fantastic AMOLED panel

from Samsung five point eight eight inches I really do like the size the

build of this the screen okay it does have the knotch

but what you're gaining is really good brightness good color reproduction

blacks okay it's certain angles they don't look as dark and deep as they

should be for an AMOLED panel but I think it's the glass but really the

glass on the back as well scratched and I don't even know how he did it but

using a case and it's got a couple of scratches on it already so it's a little

bit more fragile definitely than other phones because the glass back on it and

yes it has a bit of a copycat designed look compared to say the Xperia that

iPhone 10 we know that's what Charmy has been doing recently with their designs

so the bezels on the side a little bit thicker than the press images so be

prepared for a little bit of a surprise when you get your hands on this if you

happen to buy one it just won't be exactly as you thought

I noticed that when I first unbox this and four side bezels but it is good

you're gaining a really really good screen here so better life also

excellent core quality is good Wireless speeds not as fast as I expect it but I

believe it's down to software GPS is working well

the audio quality from the three point five outs using the adapter of course

you have to plug the adapter oh that sounds good it's clear it's crystal

clear static does it no interference there the

loudness is good but really comes down to software with this phone here that

Chairman's got a lot of optimization to do with the camera so fix the 4k

electronic image stabilization or enable it or let third-party applications use

it at least they also need to optimize a little bit the camera and low-light

front-facing camera over exposes they need to fix that and the audio there are

bugs with the UI so very minor bugs though not the whole phone crashing but

I just noticed that icons doubling up now and then I noticed some stutters

some lag that should not be happening with a snapdragon 710 the 710 looks like

an efficient chipset were they a good combination of features efficiency and

power it can play all the latest games on the high settings with good frame

rates there so overall once Xiaomi fix the software

you've got yourself a very decent phone price similarly to the Mi 6x and I think

a lot of people have been asking me which one's the best obviously this is

faster has the better display I think the better cameras are on the 6x though

so that one might have a slight edge I have a camera comparison of that one

coming up and currently working on it and I do hope to catch you back in the

channel soon with my upcoming reviews if you haven't checked out my review of the

me sorry the redmi note 5 that's right up here and also the camera comparison

between the redmi note 5 and this Mi 8 SE thank you so much for watching

Lionel MESSI (Argentina) - Man of the Match - MATCH 39 - Duration: 1:22.

You scored as a boy, as a juvenile, as an adult.

Did you ever experience such joy as with Marco's gol?

No, to be honest it was amazing because we'd suffered so much in the past few days.

It was unfair for us to be left out at the group phase after how much we've fought.

The team's sacrifice from day one.

It was unfair for us to leave so soon.

When you all gathered at half time to chat, what exactly did you tell your teammates?

We wanted to score to get ahead, and then we knew a different match was coming.

We only talked about having the ball, not going crazy, because they would come for us.

We had to find the spaces.

We tired, we were expecting it, although that penalty was weird.

That made things very complicated.

It's hard to think, you fell anxious, nervous.

Time goes by quickly and we wanted to score either way.

William Berrett | The Life and Character of the Prophet Joseph Smith - Duration: 33:42.

I don't know whether it's fair to have a wonderful chorus sing before the speaker speaks.

The contrasts is too marked.

I have often wished that in speaking we could

express ourselves as beautifully as a chorus can express itself as it sings to us.

As I look at this audience this morning and contemplate why you're here

my mind goes back to my first trip to the nation's capital in 1951.

I was impressed on that occasion with the halls of Congress, with the beauties of

the White House, with the many monuments that adorned buildings and grounds in

that great city; but I recall this morning especially a little article

that I read in a newspaper at that time and it is rather vivid in my memory.

A Russian historian had visited the United States for something over a year

studying the history of great Americans and American institutions.

As he was about to board his ship to return to his native land, newspapermen interrogated

him and one of them asked him this question: "In your study of great Americans

during this past year which of them do you consider to be the greatest?"

His answer is most startling. He said,

"You have only had one truly great American,

one man who gave to the world ideas that could

change the whole destiny of the human race—Joseph Smith the Mormon prophet."

I regret very much that I did not retain that newspaper nor can I remember the

name of the Russian gentleman; but as I look in your faces here this morning and

realize that you were here and I am here all because of one great man, Joseph Smith

the Mormon prophet, and when I realized that there are some two million

of us over the world who revere his memory—that by the end of the century

there will be some ten million who revere his name—I begin to see something

of what the outsider saw in this great American.

Certainly we are ruled by ideas;

and when we bear in mind the great ideas which Joseph Smith brought to the

attention of mankind, which he taught to us, we begin to

realize why his influence grows with the years. Time will not permit an

enumeration of all these great ideas. I want to mention only two or three of them this morning.

He restored to the earth the understanding of the nature of God—

that God is a personal being with a body of flesh and bone like unto that of

man who hears and answers prayers, who is concerned with his children.

He gave to us an understanding that man is of the same

species as God, like him in form, and may become like him in character, may become

like him creators of worlds, an idea which raises man above all other created things.

To a world that was relatively lost in its understanding of

the nature of man and the nature of the gospel, he brought forth the idea that

the gospel would be preached to all people who had ever lived upon the earth,

to all living and all dead, that all mankind might be judged by the same standards.

He brought forth the idea that all men would be resurrected from the grave,

that we are eternal beings, that practically all of mankind would

eventually receive some degree of glory— the most optimistic picture that has

ever been given by a religionist to the world.

He brought again the power of God among men, given him of the Father,

the power to bind on earth and it

should be bound in heaven, or loosed on earth and it should be loosed in heaven—

a power that only those in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints understand.

I suppose we could name on the fingers of our two hands all the books ever

published in the United States of America that have continued to live an

increase in circulation over the years— books that we term "living books."

Of those ten living books three of them are attributed to this man, Joseph Smith.

Next to the Holy Bible, the book that is most published and circulated in the world is

the Book of Mormon. Certainly the time will come when no person in collegiate

life will consider himself educated if he is unfamiliar with the great living

books attributed to the Prophet Joseph Smith. However, this morning I am not

going to take time to elaborate upon the great ideas which he brought forth in

our day and which have scarcely been enlarged since the church began.

I am rather going to talk about the qualities of leadership which made him a fit

instrument in the hands of God for the Lord's purposes upon the earth—

qualities of leadership which, if you cultivate and possess them, will

fit you to be servants of the Lord in this latter-day kingdom.

The first of these qualities is the quality of intelligence, without which, of course,

none of us can hope to achieve great things. You may ask how can we test the

Prophet's intelligence; well, very soon yours will be tested by your professors

in examinations. While that might not be always an accurate

of intelligence, it is useful. If we had the Prophet Joseph in our classes, we

might be able to make some comparisons. It's interesting to note that the

Prophet, who had little opportunity for formal schooling, was our greatest

advocate of education. Sensing that his people should know languages, especially

those basic languages of the Holy Bible, he employed a Hebrew scholar, Dr.

Seixas from Oberlin College, to come over to Cleveland, Ohio, to teach

leaders of the church Hebrew. He thought they could master it in seven weeks of night school.

This proved a little bit short, and they employed him for another

seven weeks—fourteen weeks—equal to one quarter of schooling. Only two of the

students mastered Hebrew sufficiently to give any discourses on it, the Prophet

Joseph Smith and Orson Pratt. All others felt a little inadequate in that

language. In the course of a brief few years the Prophet Joseph was able to

read Egyptian—the ancient hieroglyphics— German, Hebrew, and Greek. I

suppose he would not have been proficient in speaking any of them, but

he understood them and conversed on biblical writings in those various languages.

On one occasion he mentioned a great number of languages and said,

"If I live long enough I will master them all."

Sometimes we test the intelligence of an

individual by seeing how his views on many subjects compared with those of other men.

The Prophet Joseph had views on many subjects other than religion.

At the time that he was being groomed as a candidate for the office of President

of the United States in the spring of 1844, he wrote a memorial to Congress in

which he voiced his views on many public issues. That memorial is worthy of study,

for it shows his statesmanship in many fields. He advocated a strong federal

banking system, something we didn't get in this country until we had our Federal

Reserve System in 1917. He advocated extensive prison reforms, that the

prisons become schools of learning so that the character of the inmates might

be changed. He advocated improving the navigation of the Mississippi River by

establishing a dam across the river a few miles below Nauvoo and the building of

locks so that ships could avoid the rapids of that river. If you visit

that area today a few miles below Nauvoo, at Keokuk, you will find the great Keokuk

Dam built at exactly the spot where he advocated one should be, though he was

laughed at at that time. He advocated the extension of the American Commonwealth

westward to the Pacific Ocean, at a time when the land west of the Mississippi

was considered relatively of little value. It would be worth your while to

read some of the views of the Prophet Joseph on many subjects other than

religion, that you might sense something of his great intellect and his knowledge

and understanding of the problems facing our country in his day.

He had a second great qualification. He had a zeal for learning; he was a

great student. You may think yourself students when you pay your fees and

register here at BYU, but there are those who would inform you that that

does not constitute a student. I like to read sometimes the first account

of Jesus as a student. His parents had taken him at the age of 12 down to the

temple at Jerusalem; and there he sat at the feet of learned Rabbis, asking and

answering questions. He became so absorbed in his learning that he forgot his folks

entirely, and they left the city without him and had to come back the next day to find him.

When you become so absorbed in learning, in a problem you face in your

class, that you forget time, you forget your lunch, you forget to go home, you

forget your date, then I believe you can attach to your name the label "student."

Joseph Smith could not leave a problem alone until he found its solution.

Problems which had faced mankind for generations unsolved, faced students for

generations unsolved, Joseph Smith could not leave alone. He had a zeal for

learning the like of which is rarely known in this world of ours. He became a

proficient conversationalist on a multitude of subjects. He had, over

and above his zeal for learning, a third grade characteristic.

He had a faith in God. There have been great scholars. There have been

people who have delved into the mysteries of the universe so far as the mind would

enable them to go: Plato, Aristotle, Demosthenes, Francis Bacon—

oh, a multitude of intelligent minds eager to learn—but on many of the most important

problems bought because they could not find among their contemporaries or in

the exercise of reason the answer to their problems. When the Prophet Joseph

Smith could not find answers among his contemporaries or in the writings of

the learned, he went on his knees in prayer to God and prayed with such faith

that he opened the heavens and received answer after answer to problems that

have bothered the philosophers through the ages.

His faith is most remarkable,

from the time he went into the woods as a boy to pray until the time of his martyrdom.

I often think that, among all the acts of faith on his part,

this was greatest: when he prayed to the Lord to reveal to him the original

writings of a man dead for thousands of years and whose writings had been lost

for a long, long time. In studying the Holy Bible he found, in the Book of Genesis,

many problems. To give you one of the simple ones:

the Bible speaks of Adam and Eve having sons—Cain, Abel, and Seth.

Cain killed Abel, leaving only Cain and Seth to perpetuate the human race.

There is no mention of daughters. I do not know how many millions of people read

those passages and were puzzled by them, but didn't have the faith to go to God to

solve them. The prophet knew something was wrong.

There was no answer among men. He prayed to the Lord to reveal to him what Moses

originally wrote, convinced that part of the account was lacking. To me that is

the greatest act of faith in his life. It's one thing to translate an ancient

document by the power and gift of God, quite another to pray for the contents

of a long-lost document. Well, you know the answers. Scores of times, baffled by

the incompleteness of the Holy Bible, he prayed to the Lord that he might know

the correct text and corrected the Bible and offered his corrections as a

challenge to the whole world of Biblical scholarship. In all the years that have

elapsed since the Prophet Joseph lived, none of his ideas have been proven false,

none of his corrections in the Holy Scriptures have been proven false. They

have not all been confirmed, but none have fallen by the wayside.

The Prophet Joseph had a fourth great characteristic that fitted him for leadership.

I am going to call it the power of introspection, the power to look within

oneself and appraise what you see. I think perhaps all of you this morning

took a last look in the mirror before your left your homes

or your lodgings, and you probably look more presentable here this morning

because you did. I think perhaps we make better appearances because of mirrors

that allow us to see reflection of the outer shell of ourselves. But it is

rather a rare person who can look within himself, though all of us, I think, would

like sometimes to withdraw from ourselves, meet ourselves on the street,

see what we look like, see what we talked about, even though it might be embarrassing.

The prophet Joseph had the rare quality of looking within himself. In

translating the Book of Mormon from the gold plates into the English tongue, he

came the realization that he did not know the English language well. In

the first edition of the book of Mormon there are about 2,000 grammatical errors—

about the same number that college students make in an equally large essay.

Nevertheless, he was not content. When the second edition was printed in 1837 all

of the grammatical Corrections were made by the Prophet Joseph himself. If you

want to see the literary heights to which a man can climb who realizes his

own weaknesses, who sees within himself and wants to correct what he sees, read

the one hundred twenty-first hundred, one hundred twenty-second, and hundred and twenty-third

sections of the Doctrine and Covenants, in which we see beauty of expression

rise to a height perhaps only equaled in American prose by the Gettysburg Address.

The prophet saw weaknesses in his own character. As you read the Doctrine and

Covenants you will find repeatedly verses which condemn the Prophet Joseph,

the Lord's condemnation because he was following after the persuasions of men,

and calling him to repent lest the Lord choose another. A lesser man would have

left these out. No one needed to know that the Lord had upbraided him. I think

perhaps the only person who can afford to tell his faults as the person who has

first overcome them.

But these faults were overcome. As we read in his journal, one instance is most interesting.

A man came into his house and called him nearly every

vile name under heaven. He so aroused Joseph's anger that the Prophet says, "I kicked him

out of the house and kicked him every step of the way out to the front gate."

And then he enters in his journal his remorse—that this was not befitting a

prophet of the Lord to thus lose his temper. As you read the entries in

his journal made during the last year of his life, you find his great compassion upon those who

revile him and persecute him. He was not easily aroused anymore to anger. No wonder he said,

"I was as a rough stone until the Lord took me in hand."

Indeed he was. He was a far different man in June of 1844 than he was when the Church

was organized in 1830. He has literally raised himself to greatness.

Always aware of his weaknesses, he frequently admonished the people,

"A prophet is not always a prophet, but only when he is moved upon by the Holy Ghost.

"At other times he is as other men, subject to their weaknesses and mistakes."

Oh, if we could keep the same perspective of ourselves

as he seemed to have kept of himself as he marched through life

as a prophet of the Living God!

This power of introspection, what a priceless power! He had, over and

above this, a fifth great quality without which no person can become great or

useful in God's kingdom. He had a love of people that is rarely found among men,

and his love was returned by those of the Church. I think, for example, of the

great story of Stephen Markham, who joined the church in the East, sold his

property, and came out to Nauvoo with a bag of gold. He listened to the Prophet

admonish the people that the Lord wanted them to complete the Nauvoo

Temple and urge the people to give of their means, that the temple might be built. At

the close of the meeting Stephen Markin came forward and put the

little bag of gold upon the rostrum: "Use this for the temple." He started from scratch and, with

the aid of his neighbors, built himself a fine home in Nauvoo.

Two years later heard that the Prophet Joseph was in debt. He was running a store.

There were no funds to support the Presidency of the Church. The members of

the Church were taking advantage of him. They were getting goods on

credit and not paying their debts, knowing the Prophet would hardly sue them.

Hearing this account, Stephen Markham sold his home, moved his family

into a tent, and came and laid the proceeds in the

Prophet's hands, saying, "Pay off your debts. We need you as a Prophet of the Church."

Yes, people returned his love. Emma says of him that he so loved people that he

could never eat alone, even if he had to call in a stranger off the street.

Certainly we shall never forget the fateful story of June, 1844. The Lord had informed him or

inspired him to know that if he fell into the hands of the law at Carthage,

he would be killed.

Obedient to the revelation, he prepared to flee to the West and find a home for

the Saints in the valleys of the mountains. He crossed the Mississippi to the Iowa side.

The horses were ready; they were packed, but before the party could get underway,

a messenger across the river from his wife, Emma:

"The people in Nauvoo are saying that you are running away. They say

you are a coward, that you are leaving them to their fate."

He turned to his brother, Hyrum, and said,

"If my life is of no value to my friends it is of no value to me. We are going back."

As he rode from the city of Nauvoo toward Carthage, which was to be the

place of his martyrdom, he stopped at a little rise and turning back, said to

those with him, "Oh, that I could but speak once more to my beloved people!"

Yes, he loved people. A year earlier a Missouri sheriff with the name of Reynolds had

come into the state of Illinois,

secured a writ of extradition, and, with Constable Wilson, from

Carthage, had found that the Prophet was visiting his wife's relatives some twenty

miles out of Nauvoo. They went to that place. They pretended they were

missionaries and called him out of the house. They seized him, abused him,

beat him with her pistol butts until he was black and blue. They refused to

let his wife see him. They put him on a horse and rushed him toward the Missouri

border to get him out of the state of Illinois. Some of his friends

intercepted them by the way and got a writ from a local judge accusing them of

abusing the prisoner. Further, the Nauvoo Legion was raised in Nauvoo and came out

to the rescue. We have a strange procession:

the Prophet a prisoner of the sheriff, the sheriff the prisoner of a local sheriff.

They go into Nauvoo, where the Prophet is tried and released. Then comes an unusual act.

He invited Sheriffs Reynolds and Wilson to his home. He had his wife, Emma,

and himself serve them with the finest that could be provided. He treated them

with every kindness and courtesy, until one who was there on that occasion said,

"His treatment of these men, who had been so brutal to him,

would have melted the heart of an archcriminal."

Yes, here was an unusual man, in whom were combined

five great elements: intelligence, a zeal for learning, an unusual faith in God,

a power of introspection, a love of people. In combination they made him a fit

instrument in the hands of God to restore the church in these latter

days, qualities which, if we possess and cultivate, give us the elements whereby

we, too, may become useful. As Joseph Smith rode from Nauvoo toward Carthage, he

met Stephen Markham and was asked, "Joseph, where are you going?"

Joseph's answer rings down the ages:

"I am going like a lamb to the slaughter, but I am calm as a

"summer's morning. I have a conscience void of offense toward God and all men."

Would that all of us could say that!

Of all Americans, probably Joseph Smith has left us the most writings that look

into the recesses of a man's heart. In the six great volumes that we sometimes

refer to as The History of the Church and sometimes as The Documentary History,

we see into the inmost recesses of his mind. I have said, and repeat here

"I believe that I know him better than I have known any man in this life saved my own father."

By it I mean I know how he would react to every temptation.

I know what his counsel would be to me in almost every situation

in which I might find myself. He is a great companion. I recommend him to you.

I bear you my solemn witness that I know that he is a prophet of the living God,

and the Church of which we are members, founded by him, is directed by Jesus Christ.

May the Lord bless you with like testimony, I pray in the name of the Master.

Amen.

Donkey Kong Adventure - REVIEW (Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle DLC) - Duration: 5:02.

Mario + Rabbids is a game full of surprises.

The game actually existing is a surprise, the game actually being a ton of fun is a

surprise and the DLC being some of the most ambitious in recent memory is also a big a

surprise.

The Donkey Kong Adventure DLC for Mario + Rabbids feels like it has the ambition to

be an entirely new game and I was left wanting more from not only Donkey Kong but other Nintendo

franchises too.

If anything, the DLC acts as a reminder to why this is one of the best strategy games

on the market.

The sheer production of Donkey Kong Adventure is staggering.

The team have not only crafted new areas and battles but they've done so in an entirely

new world.

I personally prefer Donkey Kong's aesthetic over that of Mario's and seeing the lush

jungles come to life under the Mario + Rabbids artstyle is simply stunning.

Kirkhope even returns to score an entirely new soundtrack bringing back elements from

previous games I didn't even know I wanted.

I'm not a fan of DK64 but Donkey Kong Isle just sounds so good.

The most impressive part of this DLC though is how one simple character completely changes

the dynamics of combat.

Donkey Kong not only has new, interesting moves but stages are completely built around

him.

Battles have DK specific platforms that allow him to swing across the arena and this works

very similarly to pipes in the base game where you're granted even more spaces to move

after pulling this off.

DK has so much mobility, he can even pick up other characters during his turn and lob

them across the stage.

This gives you scenarios like this: As DK I can pick up Rabbid Cranky Kong, go

through a pipe, swing across the stage, swing again, throw Cranky Kong onto an enemy making

them take damage, then take control of Cranky Kong and have him melee them and then finally

shoot them with both characters.

DK can also pick up elemental boxes from the main game and throw them at his own leisure.

These aren't just inconvenient cover spots anymore!

Not only does it feel fresh to have a character with completely different mechanical properties

but it feels good too.

DK may not have the offensive range and abilities as other characters but the sheer ease of

movement and what it enables for other characters makes this way more than just an expansion

of Mario and Rabbids.

The dude's also a freaking tank and can even draw all enemies towards him, either

taking attention away from your venerable team mates, or allowing him to use his extremely

close quarters ground pound.

If you get critical hits on this, it can completely save you in otherwise dire scenarios.

You encounter the entirety of your team right at the start of the game with Donkey Kong,

Rabbid Peach who plays just like she does in the core game and of course Rabbid Cranky

Kong too.

Cranky is one of the more offensive characters with his cane acting like a shot gun, more

effective in close quarters.

All your skill charts and weapons are exclusive to this mode and some of the weapons are even

based directly off elements from Donkey Kong country.

In just about every department, Donkey Kong Adventure feels like its own game.

The world is new, the characters are new, the mechanics are new.

But it's the story that grounds this as an expansion.

You don't need to have finished the base game to enjoy Donkey Kong Adventure but you

do need to have at least finished World 1 as that's where the story takes off from.

Immediately after Rabbid Kong's defeat, he, beep-o and Rabbid Peach are whisped away

to Donkey Kong Island.

Turns out Donkey Kong was also in the child's room from the start of the game and so DK

Island was also plagued with a Rabbid infestation.

It's not the most in depth story ever and it's mostly what grounds the DLC as an expansion

rather than its own game.

Stories really the only part of the production that feels small and basically comes down

to just chasing down Rabbid Kong.

This is very much its own adventure though.

Donkey Kong Adventure essentially starts the entire difficulty curve from scratch.

It's never an absolute cake walk but it only really gets as tough as say World 3 from

the base game.

As an expansion, this may be disappointing to some but as a stand alone adventure I actually

appreciated the slightly more easy going style.

The original game had often jarring difficulty spikes and if anything, Donkey Kong Adventure

feels like a more consistent, condensed package but I would have liked the stakes to ramp

up just a little more towards the end.

This is likely a result of taking a 20 hour adventure and boiling it down to just 7.

There's a lot to love about this little adventure.

It perfectly captures the world of Donkey Kong whether it be visually, musically or

with other elements from the games like collecting circling bananas granting you a bunch.

If there were elements you weren't fond of in the original game such as the abundance

of block pushing puzzles then it may not be as far distanced as you may like as those

are still everywhere but if you're someone who didn't finish the main game due to hitting

a difficulty road block, I think you'll adore this.

If Donkey Kong Adventure has taught me anything, it's that I actually want more from the

Rabbids – something I never thought I'd say 5 years ago.

I liked Donkey Kong Adventure a lot.

The team could have just made more chapters in the mushroom kingdom but the sheer ambition

and originality on show is commendable.

After a roughly 7 hour playthrough, I'm hooked for what Ubisoft Montreal have lined

up next.
