Type O Negative | Makers Rock 2018 | Giveaway - Duration: 5:35.
Hello Internet. I'm Matt Haas this is Awesome Wood Things. Here's what I made
for Makers Rock! This was a collaboration with over 30 makers and the link in the
description is a playlist to all of our build videos. You'll want to watch each
and every one because we're giving them all away that's right, at the end of this
video I'll tell you how to enter. Now, get ready for the build process and a fun
story, buckle up because it's gonna rock!
Alright, here's the story about this band. It was the mid 90s and I got together
with a few of my friends and we rolled out a town to see this band play in concert.
It was really far away and we got there crazy early and I was like
well we should go grab something to eat. We ended up at a bar getting drinks now
the reason we got drinks and not food was, we were all broke! We had hardly any
money between us, especially me like I had next to nothing... with the exception
of a full tank of gas I bought myself just this one beer at the at the bar.
So we're sitting there talking killing time and we notic the band is in the bar
too and we're like oh... we should go over and talk to them and so we start to get
up the nerve to go over and they start getting up and rolling out, and I'm
thinking to myself: "Oh I should do something... what should I do?" and then I
just yell: "Hey Peter!" that was the front man's first name, and he stops dead and
turns around and looks at me... now, you got to picture this, this guy is huge. He's
like a giant... like Lurch from The Adam's Family. So as his eyes slowly lock on mine and I
just say: "Let me buy you a beer!" and he says: "Oh, thanks. I appreciate that but we
gotta' get to the gig." and then they start rolling out and if he would have said
yes, I would have had no money, I think I had like a dollar 20 in my pocket and
that was it... and my friends just would have mercilessly ridiculed me. It's like
they would have come to my rescue and said, oh okay here here's all the money
to cover his beer... and you know the band all wanted to buy beers from us
or not but I just I just felt like I wanted something. Thank goodness he
didn't call me on this because it would have been embarrassing. Then we got to
the venue kind of early and they were actually out interacting with the crowd
before you know any of the bands went on and we were talking to them about their
album and all this cool stuff and he remembered that I just think it was
really cool. Just thank God he didn't take me up on that. I was I was broke, I
was around 24, different city, no money, practically, it was a it was a
great show we had a good time. Good time. I believe this wood is mahogany and it
cut like a dream, the grain was straight, zero imperfections, it was awesome. I can
see why people love that type of wood. At this point I'm just assembling
all the pieces, the epoxy I used is the kind to bond plastic, so that worked
really well, and now it's just a matter of dropping in all of the tiny little
bits, and you can see me use a printout to make sure I get them in the exact
location, because I noticed if they were off, just by a little bit, it didn't look
right. So, just a lot of patience here and now on to the type. I used my CNC X-Carve
and here I'm punching out the tabs with the bandsaw, and then I just very
delicately grind off the tabs.
This little border I added, I thought it was just a nice element to frame it.
It wasn't on the original but I took some creative liberty here. This is just CA
glue, and then more plastic epoxy for all of the letters, and this is going very
very fast, it took a long time. Here's the finished piece. I put some lacquer on the
frame. Oh, and that light green material is expanded PVC. Very lightweight and
very easy to work with. I'll definitely be using that in the future. Well, if you
haven't already consider subscribing and hit that bell icon so you'll be notified

Haunted Alcatraz: Ghost Stories From The Rock - Duration: 6:44.
hey guys tonight I'm going to take a tour around Alcatraz and explore its haunted
legacy and ghost stories Alcatraz Island resides in the Bay of San Francisco it is
best known for housing a notorious federal prison but has a dark past that
dates back much further Native Americans were the first to recognize the piece of
land referring to it as evil Island believing it to be inhabited by
malevolent spirits in the 1800's the first construction began on Alcatraz
transforming it into a military fort which went on to hold many prisoners of
war especially during the American Civil War
it wasn't until 1933 that the island became a federal prison with the first
prisoners arriving in 1934 the penitentiary was intended to house the
worst of the worst criminals too violent and too dangerous for a standard prison
environment Alcatraz was quick to build a reputation for itself torture
starvation punishment murder violence and suicide all contributed to its poor
living conditions there is no wonder that Alcatraz saw many escape attempts
in 29 years as a federal penitentiary there were 14 escape attempts made by 36
men of these 23 were caught six shot dead two confirmed to have drowned and five
others presumed to have drowned but still missing one failed escape attempt
escalated into a riot known as the Battle of Alcatraz during this two-day
takeover many were injured and sadly two guards were murdered with so many
desperate enough to risk their lives for the chance to escape Alcatraz why then
are there so many ghost reported to still hang around the island
perhaps the most disturbing ghost story to come out of alcatraz occurred in
d-block this wing of the prison allowed guards to place inmates into solitary
confinement being completely blocked off dark cells on one occasion a prisoner
who was misbehaving was put into d wing and isolated he began to act concerned
scared and threw a fit screaming for hours throughout the night guards reported
that the man claimed a creature with glowing red eyes causing him harm was
inside of his cell this claim was dismissed by guards who assumed the inmate
was experiencing a psychotic episode the next morning this man was found dead
inside his cell he had been strangled and had several strange markings present
on his body these were later determined to not possibly be self-inflicted many
believed that an evil presence inside this cell may have killed this man today
this particular cell 14d is claimed to be the most haunted in the prison many
people have reported to see the same glowing red eyes figures made out of
black mist and a general feeling of uneasiness
upon entering 14d
other entities may exist within alcatraz such as that of al capone capone served
time at alcatraz and was one of the united states most infamous mobsters it
is told that he opted to spend his recreational time alone in the shower
room for safety where he would practice playing the banjo since his death
ghostly sounds of a banjo coming from the empty shower room have been reported
another inmate known to most as butcher also continues to haunt Alcatraz this
man was brutally murdered in the laundry room but has been sighted still roaming
c-block then there is the apparitions of a Native American man as well as civil
war-era soldiers and prisoners who have been spotted on the grounds it is believed
that these men probably died on Alcatraz and are also likely buried somewhere on
the island besides these sightings sounds of whispers crying screams doors
slamming gunshots clanging chains and footsteps
with no apparent source have been heard by many
additionally light anomalies sudden temperature drops phantom smells shadow
figures and apparitions have also been reported
what do you think is Alcatraz really haunted let me know your thoughts in the
comments below I hope you enjoyed this video if you did please remember to give
it a thumbs up and hit subscribe you'll find more content on amyscrypt.com and
hopefully I get to see you again real soon
