7 Great Core Strengthening Exercises - Ask Doctor Jo - Duration: 7:59.

hey everybody it's Doctor Jo, and today I'm going to show you seven easy core

strengthening exercises. so let's get started.

Before we start, if you haven't subscribed already make sure and click on the

button. so we're gonna start off with some pretty easy core strengthening

exercises and then get to a little bit harder. so the first ones we're gonna

start off with just gonna lie down on the floor. now if you are not comfortable

getting on the floor, you can do this on your bed or a couch. you just want it to

be firm enough where you can do the movement. so a lot of people say they

can't get up off the floor, just get on your bed or your couch and do it and

that should be fine. so we're going to start off with a pelvic tilt. with the

pelvic tilt, basically what you're trying to do is flatten out your back onto the

floor. So that little curve that we have in our back, you're moving that

pelvis or you're tilting the pelvis to push it flat down, and that kind of just

contracts those core muscles. so once you do that, if you can see that movement

almost like you're going to lift up your bottom but you're not going all the way

up. hold that for about three to five seconds and then relax. so just start off

with doing about ten of those and this is just really to kind of start getting

them loosened up, getting those movements, getting the muscles starting, but not

going too crazy yet. so again just a three to five second hold really trying

to flatten it out. if you need to put your hand under there as a target, you

can, but you really want to feel that back flat on the floor, and then do about

ten of those. so after you get those, get everything kind of loosened up in there,

you're gonna go into a full bridge. so now you're just lifting your bottom up

off the floor, and you want to lift it to about where it's level, but not arching

your back. and really just slow and controlled the whole time. so you're

coming up and then once you start to come back down, come one segment at a

time. so you don't have to pause at each segment, but really control it so you're

going up and then nice and slow coming back down.

so again just starting off with about ten of these. if this becomes really easy,

you can do 15 to 20 up to 25. if you get to 25 and

they're pretty easy then you can actually start doing one-legged bridges.

so just coming up and then coming back down, still trying to keep everything

level. so if you feel like you go up and your hip is dropping, let me do it on

this side so you can see, if it's dropping like that, that just means

you're not quite strong enough and ready for it, so then go back to the two legs.

so then we're gonna go and use a swiss bowl. today I'm going to be using the

King athletic Swiss ball, and if you're interested in purchasing it make sure

you click on the link up here. so now we're going to go into a prayer plank on

the ball. so I would start with a modified which is on your knees because

this one is a little bit harder. using a Swiss ball makes an uneven surface. so

just kind of place your arms on the Swiss ball and then bring your knees

back, tucking in the butt. so squeeze those butt muscles in and try and be in

a fairly straight line when you do it. if this is easy, if you can hold it and get

to a minute and you're just kind of like "do, do, do," then you can come up into

a full plank. but really squeezing in that butt, holding it nice and tight,

keeping everything tight. so you're not sagging down, you're not coming up like

that, you're really trying to stay in a nice straight line. so again starting off

maybe 10 to 15 seconds and then working your way up from there. so the next one

with a Swiss ball, you're gonna lie down and put your legs on the ball. so bend

the knees and get kind of in a comfortable position. if you need a

pillow for your head, you can if you just want to lie down flat on the floor you

can do that as well, but keep those knees just a little bit bent. and then you're

just gonna kind of rotate your hips from side to side. so almost like a trunk

rotation, but now you're just getting those core muscles strengthening in a

rotation position. so you don't have to go and rotate all the way down, just go

until you feel a little bit of tightness and then come back up.

keep it nice and smooth and controlled. so again just doing maybe five on each

side, and then you can progressively go down deeper if you need to. for the next

Swiss ball exercise, you're gonna be sitting on the Swiss ball. when you sit

on a Swiss ball you want your hips and your knees to be about at 90 degrees. so

your feet are nice and flat but your knees aren't coming right up. so you want

to be in a pretty comfortable position. so with this one I have a pretty heavy

weight here, you probably just want to start off with maybe a two or three

pound weight and then work your way up from there. so just take the weight and

put it straight out in front of you, and then just gently rotate from side to

side. so again this is working the core in a rotational movement. try and keep

your back nice and upright and just gently rotate back and forth. if you

feel like the weight is starting to drop, and you've only done like two or

three, it probably means the weight is too heavy, and then just get something

lighter. you can actually do these if you're not quite ready for a weight just

clasp your hands out in front of you and still do that rotational motion. so

you're still getting a good core strengthening exercise with this. so if

you're not quite ready for that weight, you can actually do that as well. whoa! so

the next exercise is a tall kneeling lean back. this works your hamstrings as

well as your core, so as you can see I don't have anything anchoring my feet.

sometimes people do need something holding their feet down to do this. again

you can go modified and just go here, you can place your hands on your hips here,

or you can just have it down by your side, but if you just want to start right

here you can. I'm already feeling my core and my quads and my hamstrings working,

but once you start going further back you're gonna feel that a lot more, so

don't try going really far back in the beginning because you need good

flexibility with this as well. just try a little bit and then you can try a little

bit further. so I just start off with about ten or fifteen

those, and then work your way up. so the last exercise is going to be standing. so

the last core exercise is going to be a simple elbow to knee standing up. so you

can either do the same side, or you can do opposite back and forth. so this one

requires some balance while you're doing it, so if you don't have really good

balance, you might want to start off doing these sitting or lying down and

then you can work your way to standing up. some people put their hands all the

way behind their head, I just kind of like to hold my hands up a little bit. so

you can do same side, you're kind of meeting in the middle. so you're, but

you're not curling your upper trunk forward, you're just kind of crunching as

you're going. or you can alternate sides back and forth. so this is not only

working your balance, but it's working your core as well. But see I'm still

pretty upright. I'm not coming down and bending my back, I'm just meeting in the

middle to really work those core muscles. so again, you can start off five on each

side, then work your way up to 20. if you're getting the 20 - 25 on each side and

that's easy, and then you can start doing some other stuff. so there you have it

those were the seven easy core strengthening exercises. if you're

interested in purchasing the King Athletic Swiss ball, make sure and click

on the link up there, and don't forget to subscribe by clicking down there. and

remember be safe, have fun, and I hope you feel better soon.

10 THINGS THESE SHIPPING CONTAINER HOME OWNERS WISH THEY'D KNOWN - Duration: 10:52.

10 THINGS THESE SHIPPING CONTAINER HOME OWNERS WISH THEYD KNOWN BEFORE BUILDING THEIR

HOME

BY JEFFREY ROBERTS

Shipping container homes are gaining momentum for offering home builders flexibility, efficiency,

and affordability in the design of innovative housing.

While some may consider these freight homes a sublet of the tiny house movement,

many of them are far from tiny.

In fact, some home builders have used up to as many as 14 shipping containers in the design

of these unique freight container homes.

But why all the hype?

Well there are a few perks, one of them being that shipping containers can be readily modified,

connected, and stacked in creative ways for a fraction of the labor and resources it would

take to build these homes traditionally.

As a resource for people interested in pursuing these projects, the people over at Containerhomeplans.org

compiled the advice from 23 shipping container homeowners, asking them what they wish they

would have known before building their homes, a valuable resource for potential shipping

container home owners.

Weve listed 10 of their stories and advice, check it out below!

10 Shipping Container Home Owners Speak Out: What I Wish Id Known Before Building

My Shipping Container Home Top 3 Most Important Things You Need to Know:

How to purchase the correct shipping containers The importance of building regulations and

planning Finding a contractor with previous experience

1.

PV14 House

More than 14 containers were used in total to build Matt Mooneys goliath 3,700 square

foot home in Texas.

It boasts 3 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, and an outdoor swimming pool.

Heres what he had to say:

As far as what I wish I would have known it is very hard to say since I have wanted

to build one for almost 25 years I have been thinking about and studying it for a

long time.

We (thankfully) had very few surprises.

If I had to pick something, I would say that the actual process of buying & shipping One-Trip

containers from Dolphin Containers in Shanghai was an interesting experience and navigating

the used container market here in the region before we decided to go with One-Trips.

Other than that, I enjoyed every minute of the experience of building this thing.

2.

Tiny 20 Foot Off-Grid Shipping Container Home

Brenda Kellys new home was made from a single 20 foot shipping container and due

to its size it doesnt require any building permission or council consent.

In answer to your question, I thoroughly researched prior to embarking on my first

container home so Im not sure theres anything I wish I knew that I didnt.

However, this was a non-consented model.

If I was building a larger home that requires council consent and I wish I knew more about

the application process for a building permit!

3.

Nomad Living Guesthouse

Built in 2013 by Arnold Aarssen from Studio ArTe, this Portugal home uses only one 40

foot shipping container which provides over 300 square foot of living space.

I wish I knew how to insulate the shipping container, we ended up soldering elements

on the walls and then sprayed them with a foam anti-fire insulation.

Also I wanted to know how to keep the sun off the roof; in the end we did this by double

ventilating the roof.

Finally how could we utilise passive solar energy for the container.

We did this by placing large windows in the container facing south west.

4.

Manifesto House

This house was made using 85% recycled/eco-friendly materials and was designed by James & Mau.

Raquel Izurzu, an architect from James & Mau, was asked what they wished they had known

before designing the Manifesto House.

We wish wed known in cold countries above all, you need to ensure you have proper

insulation to protect against condensation.

With Manifesto House in Chile we had good results The climate is not really cold

or hot there.

We only needed to put some pallets on the external walls to control the sun and some

insulation.

5.

Containers of Hope

Designed by Benjamin Garcia Saxe for the Peralta family, this home cost a staggering $40,000

USD to build and provides over 600 square foot of living space.

Heres what the family had to say in retrospect:

We did not expect so much wind in the site and are now having to screen off the wind

with vegetation as the container makes a bit of noise when there are large gusts of wind.

6.

The DeWitt and Kasravi Sea Container Home

This home was designed by Modulus using four high cube shipping containers.

The containers were pre-fabricated off-site then delivered to California before they were

re-assembled.

The very top floor has nine skylights fitted into the roof which provides huge amounts

of natural light.

Find one contractor to help the whole process versus having one for getting and modifying

the containers, and another to finish out the interior.

This wasnt really an option given local familiarity with containers as a structure

but thats what we would have wished that would have likely made certain things

a bit easier.

7.

The Beach Box

This home was built in the Hamptons, one of New Yorks most expensive areas, by Andrew

Anderson using shipping containers purchased from SG Blocks.

The containers on the ground level are used to create four bedrooms.

The second floor contains the kitchen, dining room and living room.

Just in case this isnt enough, the home also features a 1300 square foot exterior

decking and a pool!

Dont unnecessarily cut the boxes.

Also make sure your contractor understands modular or container finishing.

This will impact on the price and quality of your shipping container home.

8.)

Casa Incubo

This home was built around an existing cedar tree in Costa Rica and was designed by architect

Maria Jos Trejos.

The home used eight 40 foot high cube containers, helping to reduce the construction time by

around 20%.

Since this house is in Costa Rica with tropical weather, I wish I had been extra

careful to paint it with the strongest paint to protect against the rain.

9.

WFH House

This shipping container home is one of the first in China and was built by Mads Mller

from Aarcgency.

The home has a huge sloped roof which is topped with a living-garden.

This filters rainwater and also provides the home with additional insulation.

The external walls of the containers are lined with bamboo, which insulates the containers

as well as protecting them from the natural elements.

Mads response:

Just one thing: Building code!

What is allowed?

Every country has its own sets of rules and standards.

This means a container house in US does not look like a container house in Denmark.

That is something most people do not think about.

The container is a generic product, but climate, fire regulations etc are not

10.

Nederland Colorado Shipping Container Home

This 1500 square foot home is based in Colorado.

The home was designed by Brad Tomecek, from Tomecek Studio, as an experiment to try and

reduce the size of the average American home and to also be as environmentally conscious

and friendly as possible.

The containers are bolted down into the existing rock and this provides the owners with a gorgeous

view overlooking Nederland.

Brads advice:

Welding takes a long time and is expensive, so try to keep it to a minimum.

These container projects have been for clients who really like containers or have some tangible

need that containers provide such as durability.

These homes are each so inspiring in terms of creative design.

Who knew you could do so much with a large metal box?

Surely they offer a fresh perspective for potential home builders looking for a cheaper

and more flexible way of designing their home.

Hopefully these tips will prevent unnecessary issues during the planning and building stages.

The Real Reason Why Domino From Deadpool 2 Looks So Familiar - Duration: 4:30.

Zazie Beetz is far from a household name, but her role in the upcoming Deadpool sequel

just might change all that.

In the scant five years that Beetz''s IMDb profile has been active, she's racked up a

respectable number of credits.

Here's why Domino from Deadpool 2 looks so familiar.

Wolves

Zazie started her career like most other up-and-coming actors in their mid-20s - by playing high

school students.

Wolves is the age-old urban tale of a young man named Anthony, who uses his prowess on

the basketball court to escape a far more complicated home life.

Beetz is Victoria, Lee's love interest, whose arc revolves around her desperate desire to

know all the parts of him that he keeps hidden.

Shot during the summer of 2015, Wolves is the project that let Beetz give up her day

job and pursue acting full time.

The film took a one-way ticket to Highbrow Town by premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival

before being picked up for distribution by IFC Films.

Margot vs. Lily

In 2016, Nike decided that a cute, diverse, and surprisingly well-made web series was

the best way to promote their workout clothes, and Margot vs. Lily was the result.

As part of the "Better For It" Women's campaign, this was Nike's first scripted show, and it

got a nice amount of positive buzz in part because the commercial elements were integrated

well into the narrative.

"Allie!

I think I might be jacked!

Arms so sore, arms like Thor…"

"Wow!

I've never seen you like this in the morning."

Beetz plays Allie, best friend and roommate to Margot, a snarky millennial with a chip

on her shoulder who lives and plots in the shadow of her internet-famous fitness guru

sister Lily.

Easy

This Netflix Original lacks the buzz or prestige of some of their other high profile shows

like Stranger Things or House of Cards, but Easy does have that rambling indie quality

that seems to fit nicely within Beetz's filmography.

This sexy ensemble drama follows a chain of interlinking friends navigating the ups and

downs of their intimate relationships; Beetz plays Noell, a sweet and supportive stoner

who's dating an amateur brewer named Jeff - played by Dave Franco - who has ambitions

of starting an illegal brewery with his more conservative brother.

"Imagine you were pregnant and I didn't tell you about any of this.

What would you do What would you do?"

"I would freak out!"

"Exactly!"

Atlanta

Much ink has been spilled about the groundbreaking Atlanta, Donald Glover's Emmy-winning MC Escher

painting of an urban drama.

Beetz plays Van, a young mother in love with Glover's Earn, the father of her daughter,

who at turns she's completely enamored with and totally frustrated by due to his underachieving,

spacey, charismatic brilliance.

"Uh, you're doing that weird sad boy face you've got sometimes."

"That's just my face."

This role is tailor made to make use of all that Beetz has to offer as an actor, and is

likely the reason she was on the Deadpool creative team's radar to begin with.

Geostorm

Even though her role is small, 2017's Geostorm marks Beetz's first appearance in a high-profile

film.

She plays Dana, a cybersecurity analyst and friend to Max, played by Jim Sturgess.

The disaster flick was unfortunately reamed by critics, but Beetz was still able to inject

some expositional technobabble and moments of levity opposite Sturgess — and when she

appears in Deadpool 2, it won't be her first time at the blockbuster rodeo.

The Boss

If you can make it through this squirmy January 2018 dramatization of a real-life workplace

harassment, you'll see Beetz go from an efficient and helpful professional to confused, then

alarmed, then panicked as her boss proceeds to violate her space completely.

This wasn't just another acting job — it's a PSA executive produced by Beetz' co-star

David Schwimmer.

It's among a series of short films released online designed to raise awareness about RAINN,

the nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization.

Deadpool 2

Months before anyone got to see her in action as Domino, Beetz was part of the vast media

machine surrounding the Deadpool sequel.

Her casting was announced via Ryan Reynolds's Twitter with a character poster, and her arrival

quickly generated a ton of buzz.

In the world of comics, Domino, a.k.a. Neena Thurman, debuted in the pages of X-Force #8

in 1992.

Her power to affect the probability of any event within her line of sight is the result

of a government experiment.

She's joined various mercenary bands and also rolled solo throughout her history.

Beetz may seem an odd choice to play the pistol-packing, motorcycle-revving mercenary mutant — but

her fresh take might be just what the role needs.

Detective Pikachu - REVIEW (3DS) - Duration: 7:00.

It was two years ago that I played Detective Pikachu in its original form.

The game was only available in Japan, and there wasn't even a physical release for

it there.

But it was an odd beast of a game where it took Pokémon's lovable mascot and turned

him into a gruff-talking detective with a penchant for coffee and women.

It shouldn't have worked, but despite the language barrier, I fell in love with the

game.

There was this endearing quality to the simplicity of the gameplay and its style in general.

But it wasn't actually finished.

This was just part 1 of an episodic story.

With the release of Detective Pikachu worldwide, that is no longer the case.

This is now a complete story.

So the question now becomes, is it still as charming as my first encounter?

Detective Pikachu tells the story of Tim Goodman, who has come to Ryme City in search of his

missing father.

He soon crosses paths with Detective Pikachu and Tim quickly learns that this is the same

Pikachu that belonged to his father.

Somehow during an accident, the Pikachu had learned to talk, but there was no one who

could understand him, until he met Tim.

Now the two must work together to locate Tim's father and, in the process, learn what's

causing Pokémon across the city to go berserk.

The game is completely different from any other Pokémon release before and is best

described as a simplified version of an old PC adventure title.

Or even something similar to the Professor Layton and Ace Attorney series.

It is extremely linear and dependent on the story that it tells to pull the player along

from scene to scene.

And fortunately, while the story is simple, there are enough twists and turns that I stayed

engaged throughout its surprisingly lengthy playtime.

Each one of the 9 chapters that make up Detective Pikachu featured new characters, new locations,

and new scenarios that kept me invested.

You'll never encounter anything more complex than a Saturday morning cartoon, but that's

part of the charm of the game.

It's fun to see Tim and Pikachu interact with all these people and Pokémon.

While Tim himself isn't all that interesting, he's a good kid with a strong sense of justice

that I've seen plenty of times before, Detective Pikachu really does steal the show.

One would think that it'd be strange to have a deeper-voiced Pikachu featured as the

main character, but I adjusted quickly...other than when he actually said Pikachu.

But he's a confident smart-aleck that likes to play pranks and has a love for coffee and

flirting with women despite the fact that they can't understand him.

I couldn't help but enjoy seeing what he did next.

While there's a decent supporting cast, this is Pikachu's game and the developers

know it.

After all, there's over 150 Pika Prompts that simply serve as a way to get Pikachu's

opinions on events, interacting with other Pokémon, or just saying what's on his mind.

But again, it works.

It all helped me connect with this weird Pikachu.

Which is good because the gameplay is pretty basic on its own.

As detectives, Tim and Pikachu must scour each location to gather testimony from witnesses,

discover clues, and then put them together to solve the case.

Testimony can come from humans or Pokémon as Pikachu acts as a liaison for Tim, allowing

them to discover clues that might have been missed by people.

Clues are marked with a magnifying glass and are gathered over time.

Not all of them will be used, but the game will let you know when you've found everything

pertinent to the mystery.

When it comes time to solve each problem, Pikachu will guide you through every step,

allowing the player to fill in the gaps with the information they've discovered.

That's the majority of the gameplay beyond some simple puzzles.

And there are some quicktime events for action sequences, but none of them are that tricky.

In fact, you can really fail any of this.

Pikachu will simply correct you for a wrong answer, allowing you to try again, and if

you mess up an action sequence, you just get another try after showing the results of the

failure.

Oftentimes, I figured out the answer before the game but had to wait until I was properly

prompted.

This could cause some frustration in older gamers, but this honestly makes a great starting

game for most kids.

They'll gradually solve each mystery, and there's even a easy mode if they're still

having trouble.

Really though, by the end of the second chapter, you'll have seen most of what Detective

Pikachu has to offer.

That's not necessarily a bad thing though as the same could be said of other adventure

titles.

The core gameplay may not change, but the scenarios do.

It could be a basic mystery, using the materials around you to solve a problem, or even navigating

a maze.

The locations were never the same, but some of the longer cases could involve a lot of

backtracking which felt tedious after a while.

Fortunately, Detective Pikachu has its presentation to fall back on.

This game is simply gorgeous on the 3DS.

The system may be starting to show its age, but the character designs, locations, and

detail on Pikachu himself truly stands out.

Yeah, these might not be the biggest places to explore, but the detail on every inch of

them is incredibly impressive.

The characters are animated in a more American style that separates it from other Pokémon

properties and just seeing the Pokémon interact in a more natural setting is cool for a Pokémon

fan.

And Pikachu's emotions come through every time, especially in the Pika Prompts, which

frankly are there to show off this tech.

The music and voice acting are also top-notch.

The music is mostly subdued throughout the game, but it does have some standout moments

that are more high energy than I ever expected.

And there's not a bad voice actor in the bunch.

The Pokémon cries sound authentic to the show while each human nails their roles.

And again, especially Pikachu.

It really adds to the whole adventure and there's an even an option for Japanese audio

with subtitles.

Detective Pikachu may not be the most complex game out there.

But it is so charming and genuinely fun seeing Tim and Pikachu solve each case.

This is a great starting point for young kids or even those who don't know Pokémon that

well as the game provides the necessary basics.

The gameplay might not be the most engaging and there's not much replay value after

you finish the story, but if you have any interest, I would absolutely recommend the

game.

I like it a lot and would love to see even more Detective Pikachu in the future.
