Today's question: Could the hyperloop really kill you?

The hyperloop seems to have picked up some speed lately, so it's important to consider how safe it would be.

A YouTuber by the name of Thunderfoot has made 7 videos explaining why the hyperloop is a bad idea.

I'm glad he's doing this because we should always have a healthy amount of skepticism when it comes to new technology.

But...there are some problems with his arguments.

Don't get me wrong.

Thunderfoot brings up a lot of good concerns, but every one of these problems has a solution.

Let's start with his first video, titled "How the Hyperloop can kill you!"

So I'm making my next Patreon-supported video, which is going to be busting the Hyperloop,

a project that might be better described as all the problems of space travel,

while traveling in a gun barrel at nearly the speed of sound.

First, I want to point out that the hardest part about space travel is getting the rocket to space.

Astronauts are strapped into what is essentially a bomb, that consists of 90% rocket fuel,

and somehow the other 10% has to maintain a controlled explosion to get the thing into space.

This is a really difficult task, but the beauty of tube travel is that you aren't strapped into a bomb

because there's no fuel to cause an explosion.

But my MAIN concern with Thunderfoot's video was his experiment.

Ok, so there's a little metal ball in my mini hyperloop.

Simulating vacuum failure.

Luckily, this is not what would happen in a real Hyperloop breach.

First of all, Thunderfoot's steel ball was about the same size as the inside of the glass tube.

That means that not much air could escape around the edges of the ball.

In a real hyperloop, pods would probably have much more space around them to let air through.

Second, let's think about what would happen if we made this ball 300 times bigger in diameter.

The mass of the ball scales with the cube of diameter, so it becomes 27,000,000 times heavier.

But the force on the ball, which is proportional to its surface area, only scales with the square of diameter,

so it increases by a factor of only 90,000.

Since acceleration is equal to force divided by mass,

the larger ball would experience 300 times less acceleration than what you saw in Thunderfoot's video.

Now, the math I'm doing is only a rough estimate,

but it should give you an idea of how different this experiment is from a real hyperloop.

Finally, I want to point out that this experiment did not consider any countermeasures.

In a real hyperloop, pods could control their deceleration by using a propulsion system,

deploying emergency brakes, and readmitting air into the system.

Now before you go, don't forget to leave a comment letting me know what you'd like to see in future videos.

Thanks for watching, and I hope to see you next time on Tube Travel.

Assessing Liverpool's attacking options without Sadio Mane - Duration: 7:41.

Assessing Liverpool's attacking options without Sadio Mane

Liverpool are now without star man Sadio Mane for three games, but the Reds attacking' options should help fill the void left by the flying forward.

Mane was again arguably Liverpool's best player in the 2-2 draw with Sevilla in the Champions League on Wednesday, but now won't be available until the trip to Spartak Moscow on September 26.

The 25-year-old's unfortunate sending off at Man City last weekend sees him banned for three games, despite an appeal, and Jurgen Klopp must now make do without his key player.

He will miss the Premier League clashes with Burnley and Leicester City, and the League Cup third-round meeting with the Foxes in between.

Last season, the Reds struggled badly with Mane absent, both during January and in the spring, but there is more attacking depth within the squad this time around.

Here are some of the options Klopp could use over the next three outings.

A Straight Swap With Coutinho.

Philippe Coutinho made his long-awaited return to the side against Sevilla, although the Brazil's late cameo was understandably rusty.

It will take some time for him to return to his majestic best, but it makes sense for him to come into the side against Burnley this weekend.

Although he is expected to feature heavily in a more withdrawn, central midfield role this season, an easy option on Saturday is to slot Coutinho into Mane's left-sided berth.

The 25-year-old was used there last season, and with Alberto Moreno or Andrew Robertson bombing on instead of the one-paced James Milner, he can be even more effective.

In the long run, Coutinho should play centrally, but in order to make up for the loss of Mane, and keep the midfield the same, this is a good option against the Clarets.

Sturridge in, Coutinho Deeper.

It seems strange to say it, considering what a wonderful talent he is, but Daniel Sturridge feels like a forgotten man in this Liverpool squad.

With Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino receiving plaudits for their brilliance as a front three, Sturridge has been limited to just one start and two substitute appearances, in all competitions.

Mane's absence could provide the 28-year-old with an opportunity to shine, however.

Klopp could consider bringing in the England international to lead the line, shifting Firmino out to the left—a position the South American can play, albeit not always as effectively.

Coutinho can then drop into midfield at the expense of either Georginio Wijnaldumor Emre Can, bringing more creativity to the middle of the park.

Jordan Henderson could also be left out, with Can or Wijnaldum shielding the back four.

Salah to the Left, Oxlade-Chamberlain in.

Having joined from Arsenal late in the transfer window, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's Liverpool career is still waiting to ignite.

The 24-year-old had second-half cameos against both Man City and Sevilla, but on neither occasion did he have the chance to fully express himself.

With matches coming thick and fast, and rotation important, these next three games should see Oxlade-Chamberlain feature more prominently.

The versatile former Gunner is keen to be used centrally, but with no Mane around, a wide role makes more sense.

He is happy on either flank but more effective on the right, so starting him there and shifting Salah to the left is a solid option.

That allows both Firmino and Coutinho to start in the position they both crave, and keep blistering pace on both wings.

Salah Leading the Line.

Firmino is arguably Klopp's favourite player, with the 25-year-old perfect in the manager's system and still a vastly underrated footballer.

The workload that he gets through does take its toll, though, so it would be sensible to consider giving him a rest at some point.

That may feel like a risk with no Mane around either, but it is time for squad members to produce the goods without key men involved.

It could backfire, but Klopp may think about giving Salah a central role, with Coutinho on the left and Oxlade-Chamberlain on the opposite flank.

The Egyptian's pace and movement could be a nightmare for the opposition down the middle, and his ability to interchange with others would ensure plenty of fluidity remains in the attack.

It isn't likely to happen, but Salah would offer something completely different to Firmino.

4-4-2 Diamond – in League Cup.

Klopp has favoured the 4-3-3 formation both this season and last, with the balance of the midfield and forwards helping produce some superb team performances.

For the League Cup tie at Leicester, however, switching to a 4-4-2 diamond would help accommodate both Sturridge and Dominic Solanke.

This is a match that should see Klopp ring the changes, with Salah, Firmino and other key players given the night off.

Solanke has not had much of a chance yet this season and it would make sense to hand him his full debut in the League Cup.

Coutinho could also be included as he continues to work his way back to full match sharpness, and James Milner and Marko Grujic can come into the midfield.

Oxlade-Chamberlain could also play on the right-hand side of the diamond, giving him an opportunity to flourish more centrally.

Unlike last season, the options are certainly there for Klopp, and it will be interesting to see how he uses them, with three away games in eight days.

AYS Daily Growth Hacks 118 It's Easier To Aim High Than To Aim Low - Duration: 7:49.

Today's topic: It's Just As Easy To Aim High As It Is To Aim Low

Hi I'm Doug Holt with Author of Your Own Story and this is your daily growth hack

where each day would give you a tip trick or insight to help you up level

what we call the five to thrive that is your mind your body your soul your

relationships and your business today's insight comes a result of a phone call

that I just got from a friend of mine I haven't spoken to this friend in quite a

while and I'm outside in my adventure van getting things ready for a trip that

my family and I are going on we take these trips regularly and this is

actually what prompted this phone call because my friend found out and he

called me to say Doug you know it seems like you're doing all these great things

however it just seems like a lot of work and I really don't want to put all the

work into you know going on I have a decent job a decent family a decent life

yeah I feel like I'm stuck in a rut and it just seems like a lot of work taking

care of my family my health my wealth my relationships and all these things that

are encompassed in my business it just seems like taking things to the next

level is just a pain the but do you have any secrets and so this is a common

thread that I hear often and and first of all I don't have everything going on

I just choose to be the author of my own story which is a process that I've gone

over for decades and I just wanted to share that with people and that's what's

that sparked this phone call which is great because it also was the first time

that he and I had talked in many many years and so what I thought about was a

quote and I dug it up until I want to share it with you and here's how this

quote goes I bargained with life for a penny and life would pay no more however

I begged at evening when I counted my scantly score for life life is just an

employer he gives you what you ask but once you have set the wages why you must

bear the task I worked for a menials hire only to learn dismayed that any

wage I asked of life life would have gladly paid now what is saying here is

something that I found now it's just as easy to have lofty goals and dreams and

aim high as it is to get stuck in a rut named low in fact I think it's it's

actually easier to have lofty goals and go for those because they're more

inspiring they pull you forward and they give you more energy than it is to stay

at a low level see my friend that called me and was talking to me and was telling

me that it seems too hard for him to balance all of these things in his life

that's really what he was talking about but also to take it to a next level to

take care of his health so to him that felt easier come home from work have a

cup of cocktail sit on the couch and watch TV you know that seemed easier to

him yet he was depressed he was reaching out to me because he had a problem he

wanted to solve and felt that I had the solution now what I wanted to tell him

and what I did tell him is look if you set your goals high what you really want

in life that will energize you it'll also impact those around you and that's

critical as well see he has a family he has a wife and two beautiful children

and so by doing this by actually going after these lofty goals he's not only up

leveling himself giving himself more energy more joy more love more passion

all these things that we all want and these are the things that people want to

be around right you want to be around someone who's going big you want to be

around someone who's passionate about life we all do now so he was just moping

and he was losing his energy plus he's a role model right he's a role model for

his kids to watch you know so if he's not going for his goals why should his

kids right why should they try it so what he was doing is he was he bargained

with life for a penny and he wasn't happy he wasn't fulfilled and he was

scared that it was gonna take too much work to actually go for his dreams to go

for his goals and in our conversation really well why broke down with him

fairly quickly obviously wasn't a coaching call and I don't coach people

unless they request it it's a friend looking for advice that's all I give but

what I noticed and I talked to him about is like hey really what you're talking

about is fear you're afraid that if you have these lofty goals and visions it's

not the work that it requires that holding you back it's the fear that you

won't hit them and well everybody think of you you know that's just something we

all have it's a natural thing it's not the fear of success and the fear of

failure people talk about that often but it's the fear that if you're putting

yourself out there you're putting you real you in front of people you're

putting the real Hugh in front of you and we mess up in front of you then you

can't count yourself as a failure now to me not being the author of my own story

would be a failure not doing things the way that I want to do them not being

able to go into ventures with my family not being able to to deliver this

message to you right now that would be a failure for me you know I'm not looking

to sit on my couch there's nothing along with that with relaxing but if

you're playing low and you're aiming low what I want you to do is start aiming

high what could you do to uplevel remember I believe and I've seen this

with with millionaires as well as people that are just starting out in their

business careers that playing low is harder it's more difficult than playing

big than shooting for the stars I think you should have reasonable goals and I

think that's great but I think you need to play big because

that's gonna bring the passion out of you so here's what I'm gonna ask you to

do grab your journal grab that journal write out your 5 to thrive your

mind-body-soul relationships and your business and what I want to know is

where are you playing small where are you playing small in each of those five

areas where are you playing just in a level that you know you can compete

maybe you have goals aspirations but you know you can hit those yeah no problem

I can drop ten pounds if you had no problem I can play on the varsity soccer

team yeah no problem I can make an extra 10 grand a month of my business that is

playing small what else can you do what's that stretch cool you know do you

need more money well why don't make 15 grand a month you can give that other

five grand away give it away to charity one of the best things that I've ever

done is give away money to charity or give away resources you know our

marketing company branded innovation developed a plan so we can help the

hurricane victims and we decided as a team we're gonna do this every quarter

we pick a new charity or it don't need our services to this charity so this is

just a great way of giving back and it's a way of playing bigger now of course

it's easier for us not to it's easier for us not to do that extra work it's

easier for us just to make enough money so we can play more but it's not

fulfilling it's not rewarding to myself it's not rewarding to my team I have an

amazing team and I'm very lucky and they all play big and that's what I want you

to do too so grab your journal write out your 5 to thrive simply just write out

hey where am I playing how what level am I playing with and be raw and honest

with yourself if you know you can do better then do better you'll feel better

about it you know this is true in your own life and I want you to experience

across your whole five to thrive on how you can do that

second thing I'm gonna ask you to do is share this conversation with three

people this is exactly why my friend reached out to me if somebody shared

this daily growth hack with him and that opened up his eyes and he realized that

what he was doing wasn't fulfilling now of course he was worried it might be too

hard and you know it's not but he would be put by somebody else sharing this

conversation with him opened his eyes and realized that he had the opportunity

to take that next step so I'm gonna invite you to do that to share this with

three people now this is not only to help these three people out we're not

here to fix other people but these three people our people are gonna uplift you

and build your tribe and community to allow you from the author of your own

story more readily so to task for today as always but remember absolutely if

anything else just remember to go out and be the author of your own story

'Build a buggy in your backyard' part #3; controls - Duration: 10:28.

Hey folks! Great you're watching again

to a new episode of;

'build a buggy in your backyard'

I've worked today on it all day

As you can see it's the end of the day

It was terrible weather

worthless.. at least it was dry

But it was pretty stormy

I couldn't weld proper

It's undoable.. welding in this weather, the wind is too strong..

That's a disadvantage of welding with Co2 outdoors

If the wind is too strong, the protection gas will blown away

and then you will get these 'foaming' welds

It's undoable..

But I wanted to proceed on this project

So I stichted and baked it everything somehow together

I started today with the steering mechanism

Therefore I went to the scrapyard, got some parts

I have two the same steering racks

I believe the came from a Peugeot

I'm not sure, they were disassembled

next to eachother, two the same

and the issue is;

I need a narrow steering rack

and those aren't much around

at least I couldn't find one

for the ones who have never seen it like this;

this is a steering rack of a car

This is the part which goes to the steering wheel, look;

if I turn that..

inside is a gear rack

these are two ball joints

and on the end of these rods..

there are the wheels; the wheel hubs

and this steering rack is not narrow enough

But I can remove a part from this side

They tinkered some parts on here for the power steering

if I remove that

and attach the ball joint directly to this..

then we will gain 5 or 6 centimeters

Let's see if it works!

it fits exactly!

I calculated that!

But not for real of course..

That is just farmers luck

Let's see if the steer works

Some parts are missing..

This will be useful later

Let's see..

I have nothing to attach this steer to

so I think now is the best moment

to construct the rollcage, so I can fit it to that

and also the pedals

straight enough.. for me

Yeah.. nothing wrong with that

let's put this somewhere safe

otherwise it will be covered in welding sparks

I need to finish all weldings, but it's too windy

I can't do any proper weld

That's more room efficient, let's see if it fits

There's not a lot of space..

okay; this is the idea

I'll remove this part and then we will fit it in between

Remove the accelerator pedal, I have another one

Then it will become more narrow

and then it fits in between and we can mount it a bit higher

This one I also got from the scrapyard

this brake cilinder has been unused for such a long time

that one will be stuck

this one is more recent

I'm going to use this

this vessel is the power brake

I don't need that

Overhere is a connection

that's attached to the vacuum of the engine

and if you hit the brake

inside is a membrane which helps you push the brake

so you need less force

but braking is for pussies anyway

so we won't need that

what I do need is this little rod

That fits onto my brake pedal

I think we should take that off

That's a nice product

That with those pedals and the steer..

that won't be any problem anymore

Overhere I have another challenge

Because.. that engine was in the front of the car

and the gearshifter was situated..

behind the engine

and now you should look overhere

This part is the gearbox

and overhere, what you see here

that's the gearshifter mechanism

This is shifting

and this is moving in neutral

that used to be very easy

if the shifter was behind the engine

But now we have to go around the corner

there used to be a control rod toward the gear shifter stick

that won't work now.. that's obvious

But.. I got some nice parts from the scrapyard, take a look!

not on all cars works that with a rod

on some cars it works with cables, look;

This is moving the stick in neutral

and this is shifting

and these can go around a corner

It used to be mounted this way

but.. yeah

just turned the knob

So now it will come like this, with the cables to the rear

I put the other seat in to see if the shifter fits in between

it's pretty crummy in here

This is going to be good

Fit an extra tube in between and make a support

Excellent

so now the cables are going to rear

and then they will come in the right place

I think I don't need to extend those, but we'll see next time

then I will connect that mechanism

maybe I need to make some extra levers

but that will work

Yeah.. I wanted to do more today

Those small things cost a lot of time

Hey folks; thanks for watching!

and see you next time!

hey Diesel

Korea suffers billions in losses due to China's retaliation against THAAD deployment - Duration: 2:02.

South Korean retail giant Lotte Mart has decided to call it quits and pull out of China.

It has been forced to shut its stores there due to an unofficial boycott by China in protest

against Seoul's deployment of THAAD.

Korea's tourism industry is also reeling from a sharp drop in Chinese tourists to the country.

Kim Ji-yeon reports.

After racking up hundreds of millions of dollars in losses, Korean retail giant Lotte Group

is selling its hypermarket chain in China.

The decision follows the more than six-month-long closure of about 80 percent of Lotte Mart

stores in the country.

Sales came to a halt as Chinese authorities imposed stricter safety and sanitary inspections

on the stores, which was then followed by a nationwide boycott by consumers earlier

this year.

All this was in retaliation to Lotte's agreement with the South Korean government to offer

land to accommodate the THAAD missile defense system.

(KOREAN- ) "Nothing has been fixed yet, but Lotte Mart

may sell off everything it has in China or a significant chunk of it."

And it's not just Lotte Mart's fortunes that are spiraling down.

A report released by the Hyundai Research Institute on Friday... shows damages estimated

at more than 72-billion U.S. dollars annually... and up to 400-thousand job losses in the Korean

tourism industry.... as the number of Chinese tourists during the March to July period dropped

by 40-percent compared to the same period last year.

The report estimates that more than 3-point-3-million prospective Chinese tourists have canceled

plans to visit Korea during the past five months.

That means the usual spending by Chinese tourists in Korea, which amounted to an average of

nearly 2-thousand dollars per person last year... has disappeared into thin air.

Last year alone, Korea received 17-point-2-million Chinese tourists, some 46-percent of all foreign

tourists visiting Korea.
