Waching daily Sep 18 2017

Because everyone has already seen the old town of Tallinn

So we decided to have brunch here in Telliskivi located near Kalamaja district

For brunch, we're going to try F hoone which looks very nice

The easiest way to find here is to search for the address Telliskivi 60A

If you'd come here by taxi, for example

Telliskivi is located next to old town Tallinn

Telliskivi district has 11 factory buildings

Today there are many design boutiques, restaurants, pubs and bars here

And lovely, hip and trendy, new culture for this city

It's kind of like a kingdom for hipsters

The first factories were built here already in 1869

In 2009 Les Petites, a design boutique, opened here at Telliskivi 60A

They begun selling desing from different designers

The area is now filled with new and great dining options

I'd like to give heads up to this one place, Kivi Paber Käärid, where all of the menu is gluten free

What are you getting?

I chose mud cake, handmade ice cream, and matcha tea

Yes!

Yeah, excellent, thank you!

Let's try this food truck

I chose Street Expresses award winning Philly cheese steak

It was five euros

And you could choose the spicy level from 1 to 12+

I chose level 10

This looks so good!

Life is good for a food lover like me

And besides everything else there are these gorgeous murals here

And every Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm there is a nice fleemarket here

I'm amazed by the fact that every restaurant here has a huge drink selection

You need to go to a special restaurant back home in Tampere to find a list like this

Here's the drink menu is like this everywhere you go

I just love this district

Tallinn is a classic travel destination for us Finns

Of course the first destination to visit here is the Old Town, and it deserves that, it's a gorgeous place

But if you have seen the Old Town already, you should definitely come and check out Telliskivi

The culture here is amazing

Many small boutiques, cuisine, lovely treats

It's a rough but clean area

It kind of reminds me of Christchurch in New Zealand

Where the destroyed concrete city, has been restored again

Where the walls have gotten beautiful street art and murals on them

And with a communal feeling

It's kind of like a large living room with this square and the terraces

The feeling here is definitely chill and relaxed

Friendly atmosphere

You could spend the whole day here

ASBV refresher – understanding ASBVs | Department of Agriculture and Food WA - Duration: 5:58.

Hi, i'm Melanie Dowling, Sheep Genetics development officer for the DPIRD, Agriculture

and Food, WA.

Today's video is a quick ASBV refresher.

Whether we are a human or a sheep, the way we look and behave is a combination of our

genes, passed on from our mum and dad, and our environment that we were raised in.

As scientists we show this as Phenotype = Genes x Environment.

Our ultimate goal is to produce sheep that have the best phenotype: sheep that cut lots

of high value wool and produce tasty meat to eat.

In order to do this we need to be in control of both the genes and the environment.

By using science we can predict a best estimate of a sheep's genes.

Scientists call this prediction an ASBV: Australian Sheep Breeding Value.

You are still responsible for providing the best environment possible for your sheep but

by using ASBVs you will move the underlying genetic base of the flock over time.

An ASBV for a particular trait includes measurements on the animal itself, objective measurements

such as carcass and fibre characteristics, BUT ALSO considers measurements taken from

every other animal that is closely or remotely related genetically to that animal, adjusts

them for a wide range of factors like age, sex, season, year and many others and comes

up with a combined figure, the ASBV.

This ASBV figure is far more accurate than a single measurement and is our BEST estimate

of the genetics that ram will pass on to his progeny.

I like to describe an ASBV as a "progeny predictor".

So if we can agree that an ASBV is a better estimate than using a single objective measurement

then let's discover and learn more about this ASBV figure.

An ASBV is based on zero and is expressed as a deviation from the average.

This can be either positive or negative for each trait.

ASBVs can be compared across all flocks that are in the Sheep Genetics database.

To be compared the stud breeder must use a common sire that has been used by one or many

other studs to develop what we call linkage.

To demonstrate this concept we will look at the following bodyweight example:

So let now look at how you will see an ASBV figure presented.

Firstly we need to decipher which trait we are looking at.

The first letter is the "age stage".

i.e….., this is followed by the trait name i.e…….

Underneath we have the ASBV figure.

When using this figure we need to account for the fact that only half the rams genes

are passed onto his progeny, or put another way, the progeny get half their genes from

the ram and half from the ewe.

This means that in the example below the ram will pass on genes that will make the progeny

5.1Kg heavier.

Finally we have an accuracy figure – this is a reflection of the amount of information

collected on the animal and increases as more progeny are measured.

It's important to note that and ASBV figure will not be reported if it is not accuracy

enough to use.

ASBV also change slightly as accuracy increases and more progeny are measured and we can better

predict his genes.

Quite often when you are looking at ASBVs you will also see Index figures so I will

quickly describe what an index means.

An index combines the ASBVs for several traits into one value.

Each ASBV is economically weighted to come up with an Index figure.

Different indexes are available to suit a range of breeding programs.

Indexes are a good quick selection guide, or first cull, to narrow down which rams to

look at.

Indexes are like headlines in the newspaper, they give an early indication of what's

in the story, a good quick first assessment tool.

It's still very important to look at the individual ASBVs

Look for the Sheep Genetics logo to have confidence that you are assessing across flock ASBVs

You can find ASBVs on the Sheep Genetics website or ask your stud breeder

The Beaten Path, Montana "Superlatives" - Duration: 14:51.

Okay so I don't know quite where we're at right now .. amazing scenery.. this is

just a phenomenal view .. amazing scenery.. it's just mind-blowing

You know really God, what else can you give us?

My appetite for the American West was whetted last year with a trip to Colorado.

Not long after returning home I began to dream of making another trek.

As I studied the maps there was one place above others that just kept drawing me.

After months of planning my wife and I jumped on a plane and chased the setting

sun to Big Sky Country.

Montana.

Sometimes called, "The Last Best Place."

The names comes from the word 'mountain.'

Maybe that's why I was drawn there?

For this hike I reached out to Brian from the Great Lakes backpacker YouTube

channel. Brian and I have been corresponding via emails texts and phone

calls for nearly nine years yet we had never met. We both share a passion for

the outdoors, for writing, for shooting video, and on matters of faith. I asked

Brian if he'd like to meet me in Montana for a hike. He jumped at the chance

We met in Red Lodge Montana and that became our home base. Our wive's shuttled

us to and from the trail and then would seek out their own adventures in that

busy little town.

Our plan was to hike a trail known as The Beaten Path. It's an approximate 25

mile trail found within the spectacular Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness.

The reviews we had read about and had celebrated the trails beauty and

ruggedness but nothing we read could have prepared us for the grandeur that we

were about to experience. The plan for our first day was to begin at Clarks

Fork trailhead and hike in a northeasterly direction. We would

steadily gain altitude all day as we climbed toward our first campsite.

Although the hiking wasn't difficult our pace was slow being stopped by the

constant stream of views as we stood under the 'Big Sky.'

At every juncture, at every turn, pure snow fed water danced all around us. Streams, lakes, waterfalls;

they were everywhere. One of the amazing things about this

trail was the scenery seemed to be constantly changing. At times we walked

through quiet glen's, at other times we were enveloped by rich forests or we

might find herself surrounded by fields of rocks being lapped at by mountain

lakes. In no time we had emptied ourselves of the superlatives needed to

describe the world into which we had been immersed. But if there was anything that

remained constant it was the mountainous backdrop that

always competed for our attention.

We reached Lake Ouzel where we would spend our first night. A light rain had begun to fall earlier in the afternoon

causing us to pull out our raingear, but we were way too excited to give

the rain much of a thought. We first pitched our shelters and then made our

way to the lake where we gathered water.

An ancient rocky ledge became our dining room table.

We were just getting done with dinner when a heavy rain began to fall.

It chased us back to our hammocks for a while where we lay suspended from the

wet while soaking up absolutely everything we could from the experience

of our first night on the trail in Montana.

Just after first light I was awakened by a noise from somewhere outside of my hammock. I cautiously

leaned out to discover a young buck wandering through the camp. I was amazed

as to how close it came. Breathlessly, I leaned out of my hammock to watch this

graceful creature.

Soon a doe appeared in the background but it wouldn't come as close. For over five

minutes I watched the pair until they wandered off.

It was an amazing start to what would be an amazing day.

There was no shortage of rocks that could be fashioned into tables with a little imagination. Finding

one we had her breakfast of oatmeal and coffee while waiting for the morning sun

to warm us up a bit. I was anxious to tell Brian about my early morning

encounter. After packing our things we set off both of us eager for the day

The Beaten Path had lined our morning walk with breathtaking bouquets of

colorful wildflowers; yellows, reds, and purples, and every hue in between reached

out to touch us as we walked along. Our already filled senses were almost on

overload we had become laden by colors

Sometime during the late morning we reached a large rock cairn. We learned

from a passing hiker that this marked the highest point on The Beaten Path.

My Garmin watch registered 9,983 feet above sea level. The rest of our journey would

be a gradual descent.

Just past the fossil lake we decided to stop for lunch.

This became one of my

most memorable moments. We just sat down in a windswept field among the grass and

rocks with a lake in front and a circle of mountains embracing us.

I don't recall what I had for lunch but I know I could have eaten pretty much

anything out there, and it would have been good.

Not because I was so hungry, but because I was in a good place.

After lunch, Brian and I continued our trek. Brian proved to be an excellent

companion on this hike. Our paces matched perfectly and he was every bit as

enthusiastic of our adventure as I was. A long time ago I'd recognized that Brian

was good with the camera. He was far more patient than me in

taking his pictures. Some might think it's strange to go hiking with someone

you've never met. Perhaps. But the trail has a way of smoothing everything out,

leaving no one a stranger who doesn't want to be.

One of the day's highlights was Impasse Falls. We approached it from the top and

then circled beside it. From a very sheer vantage point we were able to see the

water cascade down over the top.

It then emptied into Duggan Lake that we walked above and beside.

The rugged peaks soon gave way to some wicked switchbacks that led us down the

pass to bend us beneath the treeline again. That was a good sign for a couple

of guys who needed some trees to hang their hammocks for the night.

When we reached Rainbow Lake we were excited to find a beautiful campsite near the water.

We immediately began stringing up our shelters. However, we soon discovered that

we were setting up home in an area where no camping was permitted, therefore, we

had to pack up and move to another

location.

We were able to find another spot though it wasn't very prime and it required

some work to make it hospitable. By the time we sat down we were both feeling

tired and not just a little dejected. But we were able to have a fire that night

and as fires usually do it lifted our spirits making the end of our second day

a very good one.

As morning broke on our third and final day, we emerged from our hammocks fully

refreshed and eager to find out what lay in store for us.

We retrieved our food, which had been stored in waterproof bags and suspended

high in the forests' canopy, outside of camp. This is grizzly country and so it

was important to take every possible precaution to avoid a close encounter

with uninvited guests.

On our last day our backpacks would take us from Rainbow Lake to the trailhead at

East Rosebud Lake, which is the end of The Beaten Path.

The trail winds around and above Rainbow Lake, leading the hiker along a narrowing

path that was breathtaking for more than just one reason.

Soon, we got the sense that we were descending rapidly and that her hike was nearing its end.

The mountains were rising higher around us, and we started to get glimpses of

East Rosebud Lake off in the distance.

We also began encountering day hikers who were out for short walks.

As we walked I think Brian and I both grew a little quieter.

There was an excitement that we both felt, knowing that we would soon realize our goal.

But it was also mixed with a melancholy that hikers often experience as a trek is

drawing near it's close. Sometimes words seem like inadequate vehicles to convey

what a person is experiencing or feeling.

But words are all we have. So we have to work with them.

It's just hard when you feel that you've run out of superlatives.

(laughs) Congratulations. Brian: Congratulations, we did it.

Hey there this is Dane from featheredprop.com and I want to say thank you for

watching my latest video superlatives taken from my Montana trip a special

shout-out thanks to Brian and Michelle for driving halfway across the country

to meet a couple of strangers we had a blast together and won't forget our time

thanks to Brian also for allowing me to use some of his video in my video so the

scenes you just saw were taken from Brian's camera but he allowed me to

incorporate in my video a Brian will probably get a trip report done and when

he does I'm putting the links below also Brian and I did a little bit of a

collaboration video based on this trail I'll put that link below when it becomes

available please check out Brian's channel he's got some good stuff over

there also a just a thank you for everybody who's watched my channel over

the years to the subscribers who keep coming back to those who like it and

share it and especially to those who take the time just to make a comment it

just means the world to me I don't think you ever understand how much it means to

have someone just take the time to write a comment so I appreciate it very very

much if you give this video a thumb down a thumbs down that's okay but tell me

why maybe if you can give me some constructive criticism I can adjust it

then and make some better videos in the future which I intend to do it tend to

put out some more videos on my channel so thanks again for all the support over

the years and look forward to more videos and look forward to you coming

back thanks

How to Choose Jura Grey Limestone - Duration: 2:38.

Hello and welcome back to Natural Stone Outlet.

Today we're going to talk to you

about Jura Grey limestone from

Germany, which is a grey coloured stone,

a bit hard and quite popular. So i'm going to

show you a little bit about the

variations and what you can expect about

this limestone. So let's have a look..

On this side we have two samples. This one is

polished, this one is honed. The reason why

we chose these two samples, is just to show

you the expected variation on the stone.

So what you see is on this side you have a

more light coloured beige, with not so much

contrast, not so much colour tone

variation. On the side you have quite a

lot of colour some variation and more

calcite and you know, fossils. This one

would be a more clean variation, this

one would be a more messy,

unpredictable variation. But you can

expect both in the same selection.

The Jura Grey has a kind of very silver,

very grey background, with some colour

tone variation and lots of signs of

fossils and calcite. So this is what is

specific about the Jura Grey.

This specific variation represents ninety to

ninety-five percent of the Jura Grey.

On this side we have two very

interesting types of Jura Grey. This one

is called the Jura Grey vein-cut.

So essentially the block is sawn in a

certain direction, where the final result

is this parallel vein running along the

surface. It's still the same kind of

Jura Grey, but what we get is just this

parallel vein structure. And right here

we have a honed sample of what is called

Jura Cocktail. Jura Cocktail is

essentially a mix between grey and beige.

So what we have is.. parts are silver, grey,

and parts are bit beige. But even the

beige part is not as beige as the Jura Beige.

It´s a bit darker, it´s a bit

more silver, so it's kinda of.. there's a

blend of two colours. Some blocks in the

quarry have this mix

and this is what you get. So this type is

considered a more commercial Jura

limestone, Jura Grey limestone and

has quite good availability. So well, this

is it about the Jura Grey. You had a

good introduction, very short but very

concise. I hope you enjoyed it and

if you need more information, check our

blog. Thank you for watching.

#LifeChangingPlaces: Gesa in Afrika | Lufthansa - Duration: 2:01.

As a child, I imagined

that my life would be a huge adventure.

That every day would be different and that I would never stop playing.

I used to be a TV editor in Berlin.

I had developed a life for myself that actually didn't suit me at all.

Then I came to South Africa and I really didn't want to leave.

I was standing surrounded by nature and promised myself,

no matter what happens: you will change your life now.

I had no relationship with animals as a child. I never had a cat, I never had a dog,

I once had an aquarium but all fish died.

Two years later, I was a safari guide.

And sometimes I still cannot believe it.

There are only a few places that have what we have here.

This originality, this pure wilderness.

Before South Africa, I felt so rushed and restless all the time.

I was always searching for something, I was chasing dreams

that basically were not meant to be mine.

I was looking for that inner calm. And without this wild place, I would never have found it.
