Waching daily Sep 20 2017

As hurricanes and fires wreck and ravage America, the question must be asked: Is God answering

our prayers?

Discover the vital key to answered prayer-next, on The Key of David, with Gerald Flurry.

Greetings, everyone.

We have just recently seen a massive hurricane strike Houston, Texas, and the southern Texas

coast, and it was one of the most destructive hurricanes ever to strike America.

And then immediately after that the Texas governor declared a day of fasting in Texas;

I think it was just a day after the hurricane hit the coast.

And then about two days after the hurricane began, the President of the United States

declared a NATIONAL day of prayer, and surely you'd have to think that there were thousands,

perhaps even millions of people that responded to that, and THEN a few days later we see

that there was really the largest hurricane EVER to strike from the Atlantic, hit the

Caribbean and Florida and other states.

And we have to I think if we're honest, ask ourselves, well, is God answering our prayers?

If you look at our own history, U.S. history, you'll see that God DID answer our prayers

MANY times.

Now, that's a historical fact and you can prove that I think from history without any

real difficulty.

But does God answer our prayers today?

If you look in your Bible you'll see ABSOLUTE promises from God that He will answer our

prayers, that He will answer them, and our own history of course, as I said, proves that.

But prayers alone are not enough.

If you look in your Bible and examine it closely you'll see that prayers are not enough, and

the prophet Amos showed us how to get results and how to get answers to our prayers in a

very technical, detailed way.

And this is all end-time prophecy and I'll discuss that a little more in a moment.

But let's look at Amos chapter 4, verses 5 and 7.

I just wanted to mention the last part of verse 5.

It talks about, "O, ye children of Israel," it's talking to the children of Israel.

Now, who are they?

If you don't know who Israel is, then you won't know to whom this is addressed.

Notice verse 7: "And also I have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three

months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain

upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered."

Withered.

Now, while those hurricanes, Harvey and Irma, were hitting the U.S., there were raging fires

on the west coast because of drought and the dry season, and as the Bible says, it was

WITHERED on the west coast, as it was FLOODING all over the south, well, in Texas and Florida,

especially.

So God DOES prophesy about those events, about those disasters that do happen from time to

time.

But all of this happened at the same time, just like Amos said it would.

It'll be raining too much in one city and not at all in another.

This is EXACTLY what Amos says will happen in this end time.

And he tells us then how to make sure it DOESN'T happen and how you can PREVENT it, and it's

right there in your own Bible.

Amos IS an end-time book and our booklet on Amos will prove that to you if you don't already

have it.

But when we see such calamities, God certainly expects us to seek Him.

When we see something like this coming, He expects us to respond to Him in that way,

and to pray, yes, but it takes a lot more than prayer.

That's what most people simply do not understand.

Notice verses 8 through 11.

Verse 8, I'll just read the last part of each one of these verses just to illustrate something

to you.

Amos continues in this way, he says, after all of this, "...yet have ye not returned

unto me, saith the LORD."

That was verse 8.

And then verse 9 says, talks about all the problems that you'll have with the fig trees

and the olive trees and the farming and so on, and he says, you see these problems, "...yet

have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD."

You STILL won't return to Me after ALL of these crises that are REALLY super crises,

crises of all crises in a sense.

Verse 10, the last part of it.

God talks about the problems we have and then the disasters that are coming, and He says,

"...yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD."

STILL you haven't returned to Me.

He keeps repeating this over and over.

Verse 11, the last part.

He talked about all of our sins, and says, "...yet have ye not returned unto me, saith

the LORD."

Here is four times in four verses God REPEATS that phrase, "Yet have you not returned unto

Me."

'In SPITE of all of these calamities, you still haven't RETURNED to Me.'

Not just prayed, but RETURNED.

Did you know that we have a history with God?

America, and Britain, the Jewish nation?

They are the ones specifically prophesied about when it's talking about Israel in this

end time.

So when God is talking to Israel or addressing Israel, He's not talking to Russia or China

or Japan or the Arabs in the Middle East and around the world, or the African people mostly

in Africa, and our book on The United States and Britain in Prophecy explains all that

to you.

And we HAVE to understand it if we're going to know who Israel IS, and if we don't know

who Israel is, we can't understand these prophecies.

They simply will not be understood.

Now, that's why you need our book on The United States and Britain in Prophecy.

You DO HAVE to understand who Israel is to know the nations that God is addressing right

now.

That is critical!

Verse 12, notice what it says: "Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel:" He's

warning Israel, "and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel."

Verse 13: "For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind," well, this is the

God that creates the mountains, He forms the mountains, and creates the WIND, the wind

that propels the HURRICANES, He CREATES that wind, and we need to KNOW that, to have faith

in the great God.

He goes on to say that He creates the wind, "and declareth unto man what is his thought,"

He even declares what your thoughts are.

He knows what you're thinking!

This is NOT another human being; this is God Himself we're talking about, "that maketh

the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God

of hosts, is his name."

So here is the God that creates the WIND that MOTIVATES all of these hurricanes that really

plays a central role, and God just keeps REPEATING these phrases over and over so He hopes you'll

GET it!

He doesn't want to see us suffer in these calamities.

He doesn't want to see that at all!

This is the Creator God, and He says, now, He's talking to a people that are called Israel

in the Bible, and they need to heed this message.

In our booklet on Amos there is a chapter entitled The End is Come, and it talks about

the bad news, and the good news that really lasts forever, and this is addressing really-if

you prove this to yourself-it's addressing the American people, the British nations or

the British peoples-that includes the UK and Canada and Australia and New Zealand and South

Africa-and all of that again is proved in our book on The United States and Britain

in Prophecy.

Now let me read to you Amos 8 and verses 1 and 2.

I just want to bring out one point here about the end time.

Amos 8, verses 1 and 2.

Verse 1: "Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and behold a basket of summer fruit.

And he said, Amos, what seest thou?

And I said, A basket of summer fruit.

Then said the LORD unto me, The end is come upon my people of Israel;" the end time, and

He says, "I will not again pass by them any more."

This is our last chance to receive a warning from God.

That's what the book of Amos says, and that's what our booklet ILLUSTRATES to you.

Now let's go back and get a little background of these other verses I just read to you.

This time we'll read Amos 3, verses 1 and 2, and notice this interesting point.

Amos 3 and verse 1: "Hear this word that the LORD hath spoken against you," AGAINST you,

"O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt,

saying, You only," you only, "have I known of ALL the families of the earth: therefore

I will punish you for all your iniquities."

God KNOWS us and He's holding us ACCOUNTABLE.

This applies to SPIRITUAL Israel, or the Church, God's own Church, and it applies to the NATIONS

of Israel.

And He says, 'You ONLY have I known of all the families of the Earth.'

Well, we'd better know who Israel is and who these nations are, because God says He is

holding us accountable for that HISTORY that we've had with God that other nations have

not HAD.

God wants us to focus on Israel in this warning.

Verse 6, it says: "Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid?

shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?"

Well, there should be fear when we hear what God says in these prophecies.

Then verse 7: "Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto

his servants the prophets.

The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?"

See, God is likened to a lion.

If you were out in some area in Africa where there are a lot of lions, and a wild lion

came roaring at you, well, you would be afraid.

Well, what God is talking about here is a much greater fear that we ought to have.

This is MUCH greater than a lion coming at you, and that's where God promises to HELP

you if you hear what He roars and what He prophesies in His trumpet message.

Are we willing to HEED what God warns us to do?

Are we willing to RETURN to Him?

God was the KING of ancient Israel for a good portion of the time, and God says, 'I want

you to get BACK to that.'

You have a HISTORY with God, and you need to understand that or you won't understand

these prophecies.

God says, "Well, who CAN but prophesy?" once God gives this message.

The lion has roared.

The Lord God has spoken, it says.

Do we BELIEVE God?

If we will HEED what He says and what He has spoken, well, THAT'S the way to prevent calamity!

But we have to pray, but we also have to repent and heed God's message!

Or God says He will not hear, and that's something that ought to really resonate with all of

us at this time.

Verses 11 and 12, it talks about-let me just quickly read that, a little more background

here-and it shows you the problem that God's own Church is having.

Notice in verse 11 and 12 of chapter 2 of Amos it says this: "And I raised up of your

sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazarites.

Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel?"

so they had people to warn them, God raised them up, "saith the LORD.

But ye gave the Nazarites wine to drink; and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not."

Well, most of God's people, 95 percent of them today, have turned AWAY from God and

they WON'T prophesy!

But God says, "Who CAN but prophesy?"

If you understand these prophecies that He's talking about, and the devastation that will

come if we DON'T heed what He says.

We must HEED what God tells us if we want to avoid many, many crises.

Here is God's own people saying, "Prophesy not."

It isn't something that people naturally want to do.

You don't want to have any BAD news, but even this BAD news is wrapped up in the best news

you could ever possibly hear.

It's ALWAYS good news with God, even the trials and tests.

And when you go through ALL of these terrible trials that is prophesied for Israel, He says,

'Then they get to know God!'

Of all things, it takes THAT for them to get to know God, to get to know Him.

And this is also of course showing you that there is a split in God's Church.

It is very interesting when you study into this book of Amos, and see some of these nightmarish

prophecies and dark visions, if you want to call them that.

But Amos DID have some pretty hefty bad news for us to hear.

But let's turn now to, we'll just take a look at Colossians 2 and verse 19.

I just want to paraphrase that.

Colossians 2 and verse 19.

It says there that God's own people have lost their Head.

Now, that is the worst POSSIBLE mistake you could make.

And if you look at the book of Amos, 25 times in this little book of Amos he used the word

"Adonai" when he was referring to God.

Now, that's more than ALL of the other minor prophets, combined.

There are 12 minor prophets in the Old Testament or the Hebrew Bible, and why would Amos use

this "Adonai" so much?

"Adonai" means "Headship, the Head."

You can read that in the Companion Bible.

But here's the beauty of this.

Understanding the word "Adonai," it means in talking about God, it means "the God that

blesses."

Amos was dealing with all of these prophecies, making all of these negative prophecies because

of the people's own transgressions, and he kept REMINDING himself over and over and over

that this is the Adonai, the leadership, the Head, and He blesses, He blesses even with

the trials and tests that He gives us, even with the CALAMITIES He gives us.

They are blessings in the end, and that's what Amos I think had to do to keep himself

positive.

Because if you just see quite a bit of bad news, you can become negative yourself, but

if you understand it with God's perspective, it is inspiring and uplifting in SPITE of

the trials, in SPITE of the difficulties.

So this is all, you see, all these trials and tests and calamities come in the context

of BLESSINGS, in SPITE of man and in SPITE of his rebellion.

They STILL bring blessings to man, and that is phenomenal.

You turn these trials into blessings.

We are serving the God who blesses people.

God is love!

He is love!

And He blesses people all the time!

Now, we have to think like God.

It says in Philippians 2 and verse 5: "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ

Jesus:" so we have to THINK like Christ, we have to THINK like the Father when WE talk

about these trials.

God is a God of love, and even in those trials, they are jam-packed with blessings because

it makes us RETURN to God and come to our senses and RETURN to the God that we have

a HISTORY with, the God that performed ALL those miracles in the Hebrew Bible or the

Old Testament.

Now, we need to know about that history and understand that and realize that God is holding

us accountable for that.

Notice, here's some very good news in chapter 5, we'll continue from chapter 4 in Amos.

I want to finish this prophecy he was talking about.

But he says in verse 1 of chapter 5: "Hear ye this word which I take up against you,

even a lamentation, O house of Israel."

Then verse 4, still addressing the house of Israel, and notice what God is working to

ACHIEVE here.

Verse 4: "For thus saith the LORD unto the house of Israel, Seek ye me, and ye shall

LIVE: " You shall LIVE!

Well, now, there's another phrase.

He wants to keep repeating it until we GET it!

Notice verse 6: "Seek the LORD, and ye shall live;" the first words of verse 6.

And then verse 8: "Seek him," we have to SEEK God, not just pray.

We could pray and not even get close to God if we're not obeying God.

That should be clear to anybody I think.

Verse 8: "Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death

into the morning," or the morning and the sun rising and so on, "and maketh the day

dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea," well, how about that?

"the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his

name:" That is EXACTLY what He did in these hurricanes!

He calls the waters out of the sea and pours them upon the land.

But what He's telling you here is He wants to do that to water your crops and give you

prosperity and all kinds of blessings.

But if you don't HEED what God says, well, then it comes in the form of hurricanes or

something like that.

God HAS to get our attention if He's going to give us eternal life and rule over the

entire universe.

He's going to have to get our attention.

That's what His goal is, and there are a HUNDRED prophecies that tell you about that, even

more than that.

Verse 12, notice what God says: "For I know your manifold transgressions," well, that's

a problem, "and your mighty sins:" well, you see, THAT'S what God is concerned about.

He does want us to repent of our sins and follow Him and REAP all those blessings that

God just POURS out upon you if you obey Him.

Verse 14: "Seek good, and not evil, that ye may LIVE:" there it is again.

He says that like, really, four times here, just like the other expression about not seeking

Him even after all these calamities, but here He says: "Seek good, and not evil, that ye

may LIVE:" God wants us to live, not only in the future, but right now!

He wants us to really LIVE the abundant life.

Read John 10 in the New Testament.

He talks about that.

He wants you to live an abundant life-peace and prosperity and all the good things.

That's what God wants for ALL of us!

He doesn't want us to die in calamities.

He doesn't want us to DIE in terrible trials and difficulties.

God doesn't want that.

God wants YOU, He wants YOU to LIVE!

He wants EVERYBODY to really LIVE, but He does have to bring these trials upon us because,

well, we turn to our transgressions.

And when we're involved in those transgressions and pray, God will not listen or answer that

prayer.

He simply will not do it.

Well, you can read Amos 8 where it goes on to talk about there's going to be a famine

in the land.

God is only going to get this message out there so long and then He's going to take

the message away, and punish His people, but we can ELIMINATE that, we can AVOID that if

we will just heed what God says and RETURN unto the God that we were obedient to, at

least at times in our history.

Лучшая пряжа для игрушек и амигуруми. Best yarn for toys and amigurumi. - Duration: 8:37.

Hi!

I really like to crochet toys.

And I've tried a lot of different yarns.

And I've chosen the best yarn for me, which is the most comfortable in work.

And toys done from it are pretty nice.

So, I decided to share this knowledge with you!

Maybe right now you a chosing the yarn for a next toy.

So, as for me, the best yarn for soft toys is...

Jeans from YarnArt.

Here is it...

2,5mm hook perfectly fits to it.

This yarn is very soft.

It is of medium thickness.

It is very solid, and not slicing while working with it.

Things done from it look good for a long time, and without pills.

You may knit or crochet with it.

You'll got plain cloth if knitting.

E.g. this one was done from a cotton yarn.

And as you see cloth is not plain.

So cotton yarn I'm using only for crocheting.

And Jeans I'm using for both crocheting and knitting.

Toys made of it are very soft.

Yarn is not shiny, so toys are matte.

As well I checked it for molting.

I've taken 2 bright colors.

Put them into the hot water.

And they molted miserably little.

So, I think if wash such toys in cold water in delicate mode - they won't molt.

Another advantage of this yarn is an availabile variety of colors.

As there are a lot of manufacturers who producing analogues of it.

E.g. Alize Cotton Gold.

It is absolutely the same as Jeans.

And I found one more Jeans yarn, from manufacturer Vlna Hep.

It is exactly same as Jeans from YarnArt.

So I highly recommend to try out this yarn.

And you will love it as I do.

As well I used it for dolls.

But it looks like that they are too soft.

And I've found another yarn - perfect for dolls.

It is mercerized cotton.

Regular cotton, e.g. Alizee Bella - is not so solid.

And I think it suits more for knitting.

When you are working with a hook, it picks small threads all the time from the yarn.

And it takes longer to crochet something.

But mercerized cotton is more solid, and due to that it is very easy to crochet with it.

And this yarn is shining nicely.

Due to the mercirization, yarn doesn't molt.

I've tried different colors of different manufacturers in a hot water.

And water was very clean after it.

I'm holding yarn Alizee Bahar, I've alredy did 2 dolls from it.

Here is a label from it.

I've taken a color #160, and I'm very happy with it.

I was using 2,5mm hook for this doll.

So you may see the size of it.

It is ~2x bigger than a doll done from Iris.

I started doing bigger dolls - as kids are playing with them.

And it is too hard for kids to take on/off clothes from a small doll.

So small dolls may be for collections only.

So I've tried this yarn and I'm very happy with it.

But there is not much colors to choose from.

And I started to look for other analogues, and found them!

It is Camilla yarn from Vlna Hep.

Alizee Bahar has 260 meters in 100g.

And Camilla has 250m/100g.

So they are almost equal.

I'm using 2,5mm hook for both of them.

Camilla has a lot of available colors.

But I prefer body color from Bahar.

Camila yarn has analogue.

It is hard to pronounce the manafacturer name :)

It has 250m/100g too.

It looks like that.

So, I've found such yarn.

Just keep in mind to use mercerized cotton, and you may choose yarn from any manufacturer available .

And you may combine yarns as well, just use yarn of the same thickness.

If you prefer to crochet with a smaller hook.

There is a yarn Petra.

From DMC.

I'm using 1,75mm hook for it.

If you need even smaller yarn.

You may take Alizee Miss.

This yarn is very similar to Alizee Bahar.

But it is just thinner.

I was using 1,5mm hook for it.

For a really small doll you may use YarnArt Iris.

And I'm using 1,25mm hook for it.

As well I'd like to show how I'm selecting a hook size to the yarn.

I'm taking a yarn and hooks of different sizes.

If you are in the shop - you may ask for few hooks directly there.

And you need to crochet few circles with different hooks.

This one was done with 2mm hook.

This one with 2,5mm hook.

And this one with 3mm hook.

And I'm picking the circle which is most flat and nice.

I've chosen this one - 2,5mm.

It is the most plain.

This one is concave.

It means that selected hook was too small.

And this one is wavy.

It means that selected hook was too big.

And at the end I want to tell few words about Jeans yarn.

It is very soft, so it is the best choice if you are doing something for kids.

I've made such 2 layered hat for a kid.

And it is very soft and warm.

If you are interested in tutorial for it, please write in comments.

Thats it! Thanks for pressing Like under the videos and subscribing.

It is very important for me!

See you in next video, bye!

but just all the rare spawns and stuff

there´s a magikarp right here

yeah i look for one later, maybe i will find something

i wish you the best of luck for that

thanks same to you

did you catch one so far?

a magikarp

pretty close to the start and after that i had connectivity issues

o2 is pretty awful here

yeah i bought a vodafon card for today

because my usual provider uses the o2 network traffic

but the wifi is great

yeah i´ve been using it earlier but then i got disconnected

yeah that happens sometimes

now i´ve got a friend giving me a hotspot on vodafon network

that´s not bad

you really need to look at what´s working at the moment but it´s either the mobile network or the wifi so you

will be able to play at any time

earlier i had a big network error i got nine eggs

and i wanted to hatch them all at once

but i got looged out at some point due to network errors

and i lost the whole animations of hatching

i still checked the IVs but the only

notable hatch was a 95% Miltank

at least they hatched after all

but yeah loosing the animations does take a little bit of the fun out

yeah unfortunate

yeah

well thank you for taking a moment

no problem good luck for your future

maybe we will meet again

hope so

well

we´re at the parking lot again

well hi

how are you doing

we´re at the parking lot to leave Safari Zone

so it´s over for us

i´ll do a feedback later on

but i would say it´s been a successful day

and i´ll see you later

right now i´ve got 3 of the special 2k eggs hatching

and let´s take a look at them right now together

the first one a pichu

doesn´t look shiny

nope

and the second one 1 2 3

a larvitar that´s cool

and for the third one

1 2 3

it´s a chansey

how many candies do we get

just 8 but still

it´s a chansey that´s pretty good

788 could be good

i´ll do an IV check later

i´ve got 3 2ks left i´ll hatch them later

they will be faetured in the video but i don´t think i´ll do another live commentary on them,

well

hey and welcome to the end

i would like to give my honest feedback now

there´s been a hair

i thought a few days about it it´s tuesday now

so the event was 3 days ago

i´ve read on the centro´s facebook page that there´s been a lot of positive feedback

besides the usual haters

i´ve read Schilling´s Feedback article on his homepage

and i saw reversal making his feedback video in a livestream

they´re linked in the description and on a info card

so back to my feedback

i was not there as a guest of the centro so i could roast them if i wanted to

but that´s not the case

i´ve had a lot of fun

the wifi was very helpful when my mobile data was horrible

definitly the fault of o2

the whole o2 network was not working there

that was pretty unfortunate

but still the wifi helped me out a lot

it saved the event for me

i agree with reversal when he says

it would have been better to

turn off lure animations at the event to prevent laggs

it lagged pretty hard even on my phone

i totally agree

that´s what niantic could have done better

what else...

the centro definitly organised the event pretty good

also the fact that they sat together with a high level group of players

to sort out stuff that has been needed to change

to make the event work was pretty cool

so thumbs up for the guys and girls who helped out the centro you´re the heroes of the event

also thumbs up for niantic to make the event possible

the event was nealry perfect regarding the fun aspect

no matter if fun at catching/hatching

or just talking about experiences to other trainers was pretty cool

just meeting people who like to catch some pokemon and stuff that was fun

thinking about it

i would say, and it´s not the centro´s fault

the o2 network traffic should have been better

schilling said he uses o2 and he said he had no problems til that point but

all the other people using 02

pretty much had the same experience as i had

julian mentioned it earlier

he bought a vodafon card maybe

i should have done the same

because vodafon network traffic was excellent as far as i heared

telekom must have been great too, although therte might have been a downtime at some point

but neverthelessthe event was pretty awesome

spawn rates of magikarp and pikachu were pretty high

the highered shiny chance was cool

i did not manage to get a shiny pikachu although i catched so many

they´re still in my storage

i will find one in the future

about the special 2ks, i hatched them all now and they were pretty cool

also no shiny in the eggs

but that was not negative

if i should rate the event

on a scle from poke to masterball

i would rate it with ultra ball

on a scale from 1 to 4 i would say 3

because there were some unfortunate things but ther´s always some air to improve for the future

to put it in a nutshell

i really liked the event and

i would love to see a future event at the centro again

i accidently hit somethin oops

yeah i would love a future event

i really hope you were able to get some perspective on how the event was, how many people have been there and how much fun i had

i did not film a lot of the centro but still i recorded when i came across kangaskhan and stuff like that

you pretty much got a decent look on what was going on and the fun i had

well it´s time to end the video, see you again next week in an other episode of the PokéDiary, til then have a great time

That´s all folks ;)

Can You "Spoil" a Video Part Anymore? #AskRadRat 73 - Duration: 6:40.

This time Ask Rad Rat, we're talking

about the history of waxing curbs and

also spoiling video parts on Instagram.

Let's get into it.

[Music]

Welcome back to Rad Rat Video, the

channel where you can can learn something new about

skateboarding three times a week. I talk

about all different kinds of

skateboarding culture topics, from

learning tricks on the Shred school to

learning about skateboarding video games.

All different kinds of stuff. Today we're

doing my series Ask Rad Rat, where I answer

your questions about skateboarding

topics. First one is from MattDavies47

who asks about the history of grinding

and the use of wax. I can't tell you too

much about the first-ever grind done.

It's kind of tough to find info on that.

I'm sure it was probably co-invented by

a lot of different people, but I can

tell you where the names came from. So

the 50/50 grind sounds kind of weird. Why

is it called that? Why isn't it called like

an axle grind or something like that?

It's because you were halfway on the

deck and halfway in the transition in

the pool. So you're 50/50. You're right

about here as you grind. 5-0 was half

of a 50-50, and so that's it. 50-50,

5-0. So that's where that came from. It

does make more sense that would be like

'pivot grind.' Some people still call it

that, but anyway, that's where that came

from. I don't know too much else, but I

can tell you about the use of wax. So

there is a Mike Carroll weekend buzz

video where they asked him about how

things were back at Embarcadero back in

the day, and using wax. Wax was

completely forbidden by the other

skaters. You came in with a block of wax

and they would not let you use it. They

would just tell you to go faster. And

it's kind of interesting, because I never

really noticed this. I've seen this spot

in a million videos, and you don't see

any of the ledges blackened like you see

today, and it was kind of weird that I

had never really noticed that before.

And he said that the only thing you were

allowed to do, you couldn't bring wax, but

if he brought a Slurpee cup, there's a

very thin wax film around it, and you

could rub the Slurpee cup on the ledge

and you get a tiny bit of wax out of it

that way. And that was okay, probably

because you're not bringing wax. It's

something you already had. I don't know

why that was a loophole, but it was and

you could very slightly wax a

ledge like that, which was kind of

interesting. And they also

talked about how waxing got to be more

popular throughout the 90s, and it might

have come from inline or something.

Because, you know, the inliners used a

lot of wax.

Maybe it was just the same time.

Skateboarding was doing the same thing,

or we actually borrowed it from inline

which is kind of weird. So -- but that's

kind of interesting. I didn't know that

people weren't waxing stuff back in the

day. You know, it makes things so much

easier. I don't know why you wouldn't, but

that's how it was. The next question is

from Egannotvegan who said, "in the past,

a lot of hype for videos came from

learning what the Enders were. Revealing

the ender was like spoiling the plot of

a movie. You just don't do it. These days,

it's more common to see the ender

posted on social media as a way to

promote the part. What are your thoughts

on this trend?" So I definitely see what

you're talking about,

although I don't think that's all that

common. There was that recent Shane

O'Neill Nike SB video and there are a

couple things different from the way

things are done now from back in the day.

Like, that part in particular. I knew that

it was coming a couple of days before it

came out, but there wasn't this huge

build-up, at least that I knew about.

There weren't ads that were coming out

months in advance telling you that it's

going to come out on this day, and "we're

filming" and pictures and all

that kind of stuff. So if it was spoiled,

and it was completely spoiled, it

wouldn't have been that big of a deal

because you just found out that it

happened. But the way that they did

promote it was actually pretty cool. So

I'm not gonna be able to show clips of

this one because it's very recent, so I think

there's gonna be some copyright issues

if I do, but what they did is, they would

show on Instagram, like, a super slow

motion clip of, like, him catching a flip

and being about to land in a grind, and

then it would cut, and you get an idea of

what the trick was, but you didn't really

see it. You knew that he you might have

been able to figure out by the way he

caught it what it was on paper, but you

didn't actually see the way that it

flowed, and if he did something out of it

at the end or something like that. So it

wasn't spoiled. That was a really good

way to tease it. But even if they did

straight-up spoil it, it would've been as

big of a deal. One of the big differences,

I think, is the fact that there aren't as

many high watermark spots like there used

to be. I'm talking like Carlsbad.

You know, if someone did a kickflip down

Carlsbad, someone did a frontside flip,

and then Jeremy Wray comes and frontside

360s it. If you heard about that before

seeing it, that would kind of suck

because that would have blown your mind

if you didn't know that it was coming,

but if you heard about it from your

friends, they would kind of spoil the

ending. There's another good example was

Ryan Sheckler with the backside flip down el

Toro. If you remember that, that was

another good example of spoiling because

when they were filming the plan B video,

everyone knew that he had done it. People

said that he saw it happen, that they

were there and they saw him backside

flip it, and it was going to be in his

his video part. And then the part came

out, and he didn't do it. Which was kind

of interesting, because everyone was

expecting this, and they knew he had done

this crazy trick, and it wasn't there. And

it was ruined. It was like, 'oh, so he just..

he just did that? Okay,' and whatever. And

it wasn't as impressive as what they had

been built up to think. And even if he

did do it, everyone already knew that he

did it, and it wouldn't have been as big of

a deal. So there is something to be said

for that for sure, but I think it only

really applies to those kind of spots:

those big famous spots that you can step

up and do the biggest thing ever done

down it compared to the guy before you.

So something like that Carlsbad, El Toro,

whatever, those kinds of spots. If that's

the Ender, and that was spoiled, that really

sucks. But if it's like an eight stair

rail that people skate all the time,

there's just a really cool trick, it

doesn't really ruin the part to hear

about it in advance. So I don't know, let

me know what you think about that below.

The way that skate videos are these days

is really changing. The way that they're

marketing it is gonna be coming and

going a little bit as we figure out the

right way to do it all. So let me know

what you think about that. Let me know

how you think they should promote these

video parts. I want to hear about that.

But until next time, that was it for now.

Ask me all of your questions below,

either on Twitter Instagram. I put links to

those below. Send me your questions there.

If you sent them last month, I probably

didn't get them. Sorry about that. Just

try to send them again and I'll get to

them as soon as I can. That's it for now.

recently. You can tap my logo on screen

Why Toonami's Ratings are Declining - The Truth - Duration: 8:48.

I've been seeing videos titled, Why Toonami Ratings are Declining, and others similar

popping up recently.

The thing is, just from watching them, I haven't picked up on any research into the matter.

You click on the video and it's all like, "Yo, so there's this channel called Toonami,

and its ratings are kind of low as of late so, ya, it's dying".

You hop over to reddit and the thread commenters are all like, "you know, if those dumb-bolts

would just change the order of the shows and cut most of the Dragon Ball slots, they would

be doing fine".

Which leads me to believe that the people bringing attention to this topic don't actually

know what is going on.

Hell, I am starting to doubt that they even know how broadcasting works in the simplest,

casual sense of the term.

For you, gentle viewer, I have but one disclaimer: I will be discussing Toonami's existence

over the years and eventually conclude with what I believe to be the most sensible conclusion

as to why the time block isn't performing well.

This may seem obvious to you, in which case, congratulations, too bad the people making

videos aren't you.

If they were, perhaps this video wouldn't exist!

If you don't know what's going on, prepare to be un-stupidified.

Let's peek at the numbers that got people talking about the "end of Toonami" in

the first place.

It's 2016, and you're Toonami.

Ratings are fairly good right now.

You're first 2 broadcast slots are receiving high ratings, your 3rd generally receives

high ratings, and the other shows are garnering at least fifty percent of those early ratings

at their worst.

Nothing record breaking, but it maintains a quiet existence, after all, Anime is still

niche over here in the USA when compared to other animated shows.

Just compare the average ratings from Toonami during 2016 with the averages from animated

series on Cartoon Network, even the bad ones had higher numbers by Toonami's standards.

Now, if you look at 2017's numbers, this is where some people start to freak out.

The thing is, they may be looking at the wrong numbers.

Take this table shared on Reddit as an example.

Now, keep in mind that these numbers may not be incorrect, just, easily misunderstood.

Hundreds or just above 1 thousand viewers?

That seems terribly low.

And they would be, if they were true.

It is more likely that each of these is short 3 zeros on the butt end.

You know, like the numbers from this table.

They are somewhat down from the numbers of 2016.

What is important to note about 2017's numbers is they are fairly similar to 2016 overall.

To put it simply, more people are going to be awake around midnight than around 3 in

the morning.

As a result, no matter how popular a show is, it will accumulate less viewers than earlier

slots.

This is true for all broadcast slots containing these time blocks.

Heck, it's probably why Adult Swim brought back Toonami during that slot, so they could

keep the more lucrative slots to themselves.

Why point this out?

Well, Reddit posters and various commenters on the topic argue about the order of the

shows, and what shows are airing.

For example, many argued that there are too many slots occupied by Dragon Ball and that

nobody is interested in a re-run of Samurai Jack.

Viewers want a new show instead.

While this isn't easy to argue, since poorer performing shows occur later in the night

and thus, have less available viewers to rope in, it isn't impossible.

Take this broadcast lineup.

Yup, it is all Samurai Jack.

Hm.

Yes.

Oh yeah that's rich.

Alright, I think I finally have a conclusion to share.

It follows the same trend as the last ones.

The later you go into the night, the less people that are available to watch.

It doesn't matter how popular the show is, this happens.

This also gives you pseudo-stat-reference for projecting what kind of views a show could

accumulate if it was offered during an earlier slot.

You know, to a point.

Assuming a large quantity of viewers didn't stay up solely to binge watch Samurai Jack

reruns.

Case in point, Toonami's numbers have dipped a bit between 2016 to the current 2017, but

it isn't anything drastic.

But Rauricon, you may be saying, the title is "Why Toonami's Ratings are declining:

The Truth".

Was that all just click bait?

To which I respond, "silly viewer, check the time stamp, we ain't done here".

The shows available on Toonami may be less popular than previous lineups, but again,

viewership hasn't dropped by an alarming amount.

Toonami will be fine for a while if it maintains these numbers.

The thing is, the order in which Toonami presents its broadcast, the shows it has lined up,

and its less-than-ideal time slot are not the only worries for Toonami.

You see, back in 1997, when Toonami was new, it was rare to see Japanese animated shows

shown on USA broadcasting channels.

Those that were had a tendency to be targeted towards children.

Toonami focuses on action shows targeting tweens, like 10-15 year-olds.

Its only real competition was Nickalodeon and Disney.

Fast-forward to 2017 and look at the competition.

Crunchyroll, Funimation, Anime Strike (Amazon), Netflix, and illegally streamed content are

all wide-spread.

Crunchyroll has a commanding lead in popularity over Toonami, and it is easy to see why.

Crunchyroll has access to a wide variety of shows that are simulcasts from Japan.

You get to see the episodes soon after they finish airing in Japan, with subtitles!

Funimation also sustains more popularity than Toonami, and they share rights access to shows

with Crunchyroll, but they post content English Dubbed.

Toonami cannot compete with the variety of shows, due to their limited time blocks, or

the speed of uploads for their content.

Funimation and Crunchyroll have their shows online, ready to be streamed.

You have to wait for a time block to come around to see it broadcasted.

It is a huge reason why YouTube and Netflix took off while TV broadcasting is slowly weathering

away.

Cartoon Network cancelled Toonami during 2008.

The web explosion did not treat it well, as access to shows, legal or not, became much

easier.

Look over this graph.

As Funimation focuses more on its website and Crunchyroll comes into existence, their

ratings go up while Toonami's drop.

This isn't a coincidence.

People are transitioning over to a new, widely preferred, medium of consumption.

Watch what happens when I add Netflix to the chart.

Holy iced cracker on a skinny pole!

That is that giant Crunchyroll curve from the last graphic.

Now, obviously Netflix going online helped its business grow, but Netflix isn't just

Anime.

With its high traffic, however, it has a decent platform for bringing in new viewers.

If only they would simulcast the releases.

You know what's odd?

April 2006 to January 30th 2009 Toonami had an online streaming service called Toonami

Jetstream.

They had a few exclusive shows on the website that had new episodes released weekly.

They could have been Crunchyroll before they came on the market.

While copyright holdings had potential to keep the Toonami Jetstream name, the service

could have easily renamed and expanded to cover more shows.

If they started localizing series as subs and dubs, they could have had a real powerhouse

by 2017.

Instead, it seems the staff of Toonami are convinced that broadcasting is the way to

go.

I don't know how long Toonami will stay afloat.

It introduced me to some shows that I would have never checked out otherwise.

And I'm thankful for that.

You had a good run Toonami, thanks for the memories.

That's if from me.

I will have more videos out later this week.

Until then, stay cool my Noobs.

What Happened to Mad Cow Disease? - Duration: 4:32.

If you were around in the '90s, and especially if you lived in the UK,

you might remember all the panic about mad cow disease.

It's a disorder that's killed thousands of cattle since the '80s and '90s,

and because a version of it can also infect humans,

a lot of people were really freaked out.

Today, thanks to safer farming, it probably isn't anything you need to worry about.

And even though scientists still don't know exactly how it works,

we can say one thing for sure:

Your steak is almost definitely

probably not infected.

[INTRO ♪]

Mad cow disease is the common name for a condition called

Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy, or BSE.

It's a progressive neurological disease that affects cows.

And over time, it causes severe brain and nervous system damage,

which eventually leads to trouble standing and walking, and changes in mood,

like increased aggression and nervousness.

The "spongiform" part of the name just means spongy,

because the infection creates a bunch of holes in the cow's brain where its cells should be.

The first two cases of BSE were identified in the UK in 1986,

but it takes a really long time for symptoms to show up,

so scientists think the first infections probably date back to the '70s.

During the outbreak's peak in 1993, almost a thousand new cattle

were infected each week, but that number has gone down dramatically since then.

BSE is caused by a bizarre, self-replicating protein called a prion.

Other pathogens, like bacteria and viruses, use DNA to make copies of themselves,

but a prion is just a deformed version of a normal protein that's found in cell membranes.

Sometimes those proteins can go rogue and get bent out of shape,

but right now, we don't totally understand how or why it happens.

And when proteins become prions, they can bind to other proteins like them

and make them bend in the same way,

and then those messed-up prions corrupt even more proteins, and so on.

Clumps of them collect and spread in the brain and nervous system,

eventually causing brain damage.

But that takes a while, so symptoms usually don't show up until years later.

All of that is terrible, but how BSE got started is almost as horrifying.

It probably happened because cattle were being fed

ground-up meat and bones from sheep and other cows.

Ugh!

There's another prion disease in sheep called scrapie,

and it's possible that scrapie prions may have jumped to cows

through their food and caused this whole mess.

But it's also possible BSE just showed up when a random protein folded the wrong way.

No matter how it started, the cattle feed only made things worse—

because after cows died of BSE, they were ground up

and fed to healthy cows, so the disease kept going.

Unfortunately, a version of the disease can infect people, too.

The human version of BSE is called variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease,

or vCJD, and it's also caused by bent prions.

We don't know for sure that it comes from eating infected cattle,

but since they're both prion diseases and both outbreaks happened around the same time,

most scientists think that's the case.

Like with mad cow disease, the symptoms of vCJD can take years to show up,

but once they do, things move pretty quickly.

Brain degeneration happens in just a few months, with symptoms like

trembling, dementia, trouble walking, and eventually a coma.

Since no cure exists yet, patients usually die within a year.

Worldwide, there have been about 230 cases of vCJD,

and about 180 of those were in the UK.

The rest were mainly in Europe, and there have been only four cases in the United States,

but they were all picked up overseas.

The rate at which people have been getting infected has gone way down since the '90s,

but scientists will keep studying it because there are other

kinds of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease not caused by cows.

Before mad cow disease was a thing, we knew about CJD as a rare condition

that could appear if a random protein went bad,

usually through an inherited mutation,

or through medical procedures like transplants.

Today, we keep the risk of variant CJD low by giving cows safer food

and by making sure no nervous system tissue gets into our beef.

And even though the risk is small, you also can't donate blood in the U.S.

if you spent too much time in high-risk countries or got a blood transfusion

in Europe, because there's a chance prions could be spread through blood, too.

Mainly, it's those new farming practices that have really helped get the disease under control,

and in 2016, there were no new reports of BSE in cows in the UK

for the first time since the outbreak started.

Which is both exciting and a relief.

Also, because mad cow disease is transmitted through nervous system tissue,

there's no evidence you can get it from milk

or the meat used to make things like hamburgers and steak.

So your roast beef is not out to get you.

Which is always good to know.

How to Effectively Run a Meeting - Duration: 5:04.

[♪♩INTRO]

As you take on more responsibilities in your life as an adult,

you may need to run a meeting someday.

You are working up the ladder.

You are so fancy!

But with great fanciness comes great responsibility, and how you run a meeting will show your employees

or colleagues a lot about your skills as a leader.

Let's say you're the manager of the Fancy Donut Company, a business we just made up

and also a good excuse to buy donuts as props.

Here's some steps to hosting a darn good meeting.

[Angels Singing]

Step 1: Get specific.

Why are you having this meeting?

Is it a normal part of the workweek, or do you need to address some special kind of issue?

No matter what, make sure that your meeting has a specific goal, like, for example, assigning

all of your employees the donuts they'll need to make for the next week.

Step 1.5: Do you need to call a special meeting to break bad news?

Maybe the Fancy Donut Company will need to stop production on Bavarian creams because

they're not as hot of a seller.

It will only make your employees miserable if you call a big mysterious meeting and then

let them stew in confusion for too long.

If it's bad news, make sure the meeting happens as soon as possible.

Step 2: Write an agenda for your meeting!

This will feel super dorky if you're hosting a meeting with, like, three people, but I

guarantee it will be handy later.

Step 3: Set a time for that meeting and stick to it like glaze!

Set an example by showing up a few minutes early and preparing your materials.

It's bad form to be late to your own meeting, but if something unavoidable happens, let

your employees know ASAP so they understand that you respect their time.

Step 4: As soon as the meeting starts, ask everyone to silence their phone.

This is a good way to kick off the meeting with a focused tone.

We're getting down to business!

Step 5: Keep the meeting focused on the topic at hand.

You are the boss of this meeting!

There will be no off-topic threads!

Stay focused!

Be willing to gently but firmly tell people to stay on point or wrap up if they're going

a bit long.

For example, Suzy may be extra concerned about cake donuts, but this is a chocolate donut

meeting.

Have her talk to you afterward so you don't take up everyone's time.

Step 6: Make sure everyone has had a turn to participate in the meeting!

Even in the best work spaces, it can be easy for one or two people to dominate the conversation.

You never know if someone might have a good idea but they feel too shy to speak up.

Step 7: Be prepared for disagreements.

Not everyone is going to agree on every topic, and that's okay.

If you're lucky, and the participants are respectful of one another, arguments can be

productive and ultimately lead to a solution that everyone agrees with.

In some situations, though, arguments can be unproductive, and it's part of your job

to keep an eye out for that.

If there's an argument about something that doesn't need to be decided A.S.A.P., it's

okay to table the discussion for a later time.

Some arguments are resolved if people just take time to chill out and think it over.

Some arguments, though, are never solved.

Unfortunately we can't fix that one with a YouTube video.

At least not yet.

[DING]

Step 8: Once the designated goals for the meeting are met, end that meeting!

Yes!

There are very few meetings so fun and delightful that people are not glad to get on with the

rest of their day.

Except, maybe, a donut meeting.

Those are pretty consistently fun and delightful.

Step 9: Follow up.

Ugh, sorry, I thought we were done, too.

I know.

Anyway, even attentive listeners can be confused about what was decided in the meeting.

Email everyone who attended or touch base with them to make sure they know what's

going on moving forward, and get cracking on those donuts!

—an excuse to buy donuts as prop—bleh lalalala...

Set a time for that meeting and stick to it like glaze.

[off-screen] Oooooh!

I changed that one

[off-screen, laughing] You did!

You are the boss of this meeting!

There will be no off-topic—bleh leh

[off-screen] That was a little Winston Churchill-y.

You are the boss of this meeting!

There will be no off-topic threads!

Stay focused!

[off-screen, laughing] Maybe you're not good at being inspirational...

Was it more tyrannical?

[off-screen, laughing] Yes

Or touch base with them to make sure that you're going...

Sorry.

Your head's in my peripheral

[off-screen] I'm sorry

[laughter]

There's something about your head that was distracting me!

Please consider becoming a patreon...

person.

And if you want to support How to Adult and see more of meeeeee....

[laughing] Please cons—

Will Ferrell & Adam McKay Remember The Long Strange Trip (10 Years of Funny Or Die - 2017) - Duration: 2:29.

(upbeat music)

- The year--

- 2017, and a special video was shot

with Will Ferrell and Adam McKay,

the company's original founders,

getting together to go through every year of videos.

The video is exciting, they go through the songs,

remind you of the events.

- Take you back on a trip, on a journey,

and what a long strange trip it's been.

The content's wonderful, but the set design,

is even better.

- Ferrell is dashing in an off-brown jacket.

And McKay is winning in a light tan jacket

and a collared shirt.

Everyone on the set agrees they've never looked better.

- Roll the clip.

(laughing)

- That was really fun, Will.

- You know I really enjoyed it.

- I had a great time.

- I felt it was natural, and I felt we were totally at ease.

- I felt like our conversations with each other,

were exactly--

- [Together] The way we speak, when we're off, camera.

(upbeat music)

- Josefe Totino, who as we all know,

is the founder of Totino's.

- They also call him the hook, because he had a hook hand.

Anyway, sorry, keep going.

- So Josefe starts carrying marinara and cheese

in his pockets.

"Hey this will be perfect."

- And they're like, "What're you doing?"

Get outta here.

- It's in my pocket. - Get outta here.

- Bottom line is: He says, "What if I take the dough,

and put it around, and the people don't talk to me?"

- He injects a syringe into the cavity,

of what would be called the Totino shell,

and injects it with delicious

mozzarella and tomate.

- Tomate. - Tomate.

- Which means, tomato.

So he then patents this design,

and fun story, 40 years later,

the space shuttle's gonna go up,

and they need an airtight pocket,

and guess who's patent they pull out?

- Josefe Totototino.

Tomate.

Researchers Connect a Human Mind to the Internet for the First T - Duration: 3:05.

Researchers Connect a Human Mind to the Internet for the First Time Ever

Have you ever thought about whether future humans will live out aspects of their lives

online in simulated environments, or even extend their natural lifespans by uploading

their minds to a secure cloud ecosystem?

Its been a familiar idea in science fiction for decades.

With news that Elon Musk was attempting to build a neural lace, the concept of

a brain-machine interface (BMI) entered the public lexicon.

Now, researchers at Wits University in Johannesburg, South Africa, claim to have linked a human

mind to the Internet in real time a biomedical first.

The project, dubbed the Brainternet, required the researchers to gather EEG brainwave

signals using only an Emotiv EEG device and a simple Raspberry Pi computer.

The experiment allowed the human brain to become an information node in the Internet

of Things (IoT).

The experiments supervisor, Adam Pantanowitz, described it this way:

Brainternet is a new frontier in brain-computer interface systems.

There is a lack of easily understood data about how a human brain works and processes

information.

Brainternet seeks to simplify a persons understanding of their own brain and the brains

of others.

It does this through continuous monitoring of brain activity as well as enabling some

interactivity.

Researchers say the project could provide valuable information for future deep learning

algorithms and could even assist Musks endeavors in creating true BMI.

Many futurists believe that as the impact and everyday importance of the Internet grows,

it is inevitable that humans will merge the physical world with online virtual environments,

ushering in a generation of enhanced augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and a

synthesis of the two that some call Mixed Reality

While the concept of living on the Internet may seem remote, we are in many ways already

cyborgs dependent on the web and artificial intelligence.

Linking our brains to an online hive mind may ultimately prove to be the most efficient

way humans can both receive and transmit information, though concerns over surveillance and privacy

will likely follow us all the way through

the century
