Today in military history, 1066,

William the Conqueror invades England

and changes western civilization forever.

William was the illegitimate son of Robert I,

Duke of Normandy, who died after designating William

as his heir.

In 1051, Edward the Confessor, the childless King of England

and William's cousin, allegedly promised

to make William his heir.

But upon his death,

Harold Godwin was proclaimed king, instead.

William met Harold at what would become

the Battle of Hastings, where he defeated the English forces

before marching on London.

William was crowned the first Norman king of England

on Christmas Day 1066,

ending the Anglo-Saxon phase of English history.

His legacy would define the church, culture,

and language of the English people.

And its impact can still be felt across the world today.

Growing and Editing a Rainbow Six Youtube Channel - Duration: 7:09.

hey what's going on guys today we're gonna talk about growing and editing a

rainbow 6 channel first and foremost somebody put a

disclaimer out there that every channels growth is gonna be on a case-by-case

basis and I don't believe there's a universal way to grow at the same rate

as the next guy that being said I wanted to tell you guys about my beginnings

getting the first 100 growing fast and the setup and editing process I used to

make videos that you guys see today I'll be including a link to my full gaming

setup down below if you're interested in purchasing any of the items because if

you do from the site it actually helps me a lot that's kind of stuff that

really butters my hook that by the end of this you feel motivated to take on a

YouTube channel and to begin seeing growth yourself with that out of the way

I also want to make sure this is as quick and entertaining as possible so

here we go a lot of you wondered how I got interested in YouTube and why I

started in the first place well my interest in YouTube came when I was

about 10 years old I had a friend named Preston who told me we should totally

upload a video to YouTube and I had never done anything on the internet

before and even wondered if my parents would allow it

we made toontown in free roams videos and it all began no those videos are no

longer up they were doused in gasoline and burned with fire once I realized

people might actually go looking for them a little over a year and a half ago

I decided to take my love for movie editing to Rainbow six my brother told

me about the game so I found some people when we made a channel called normal

people play yes it's still up if you'd like to watch them cringy videos and

stunning 30 frames per second upon realizing that I wanted to make a

channel for just me yo boy Roy gaming was born

and holy smokes did it suck six months of 50-plus videos in 720 30fps and I was

no where hours of time I put into videos that were seen only by my refresh is not

gonna lie it was discouraging so what changed Roy how did you get out of the

pit of despair how did you get your first 100 subs let me tell you what

worked and what didn't personally first things first if you hope to be noticed

montages probably won't cut it unless you're insanely creative and find

unique ways to make stunning montages most of the community doesn't want to

watch a no-name get three kills here and there it's the harsh reality I had to

deal with everything I made was a montage funny moments epic moments you

name it it didn't work unfortunately my friends and I didn't quite have the

appealing personalities the community was looking for so my channel remained

stagnant that spurred me to be more creative in my edits I started making

spectator type cinematics that attracted some attention it was different and it

did the trick to get me to my first 100 now one question I had on a consistent

basis when trying to grow was where do I go to get my videos in front of more

viewers I tried reddit for the longest time and

had some success here and there but the community could be pretty toxic and

brutal especially if it was just another montage wow this is garbage so I went to

all my PSN friends and sent them a link to my channel asking for their sub and

feedback this was the best starting point to some growth in addition if you

guys are looking to make this reality consider pursuing the investment the

investment starts with taking your seven twenty thirty and making them ten eighty

sixty chair factory on PSN is super limited but if you can get yourself a

capture card you'll stand out more on PC OBS or shadowplay are great software's

to capture anything you're looking for a nice quality so I finally hit my hundred

subs it took me six months well I felt good and I was very proud of myself but

of course you always want more so let's talk about what the heck happened from

100 subs and beyond well I posted my first diamond tips and

trick video called top 5 diamond habits that got me rolling I realized several

components that made this different from the rest first I had researched on

YouTube what videos were missing basically ideas nobody thought to do yet

I made the video and it set me off on a nice grow

three-second my metadata tags weren't just one word keywords they were common

phrases I felt like people would use that they were actually searching for a

certain video tag like how to get to Diamond on ps4 are a lot better than ps4

diamond highlights what will the community be looking for most on YouTube

what would you type in the search bar if you were looking for a certain video

third I tried to be unique I wanted my tips to be unique to myself so I didn't

watch what other people had to offer on the subject matter so as to remove any

possible copy or similarity forth I started to pick certain people to play

with based on personality and skill a one of my viewers to not only enjoy my

commentary but the people in my games as well if your friends tend to be a bit

obnoxious or overly toxic you might try and settle them down for your videos or

find others to play with YouTube is a big waiting game stay diligent to

uploading consistently because the more you posts the more likely you're going

to be noticed and to have that one video that sets you up I know you guys want to

hear me say here's the magic formula to instant growth but it just doesn't exist

it's a bitter brutal patient waiting game that leaves you hoping to be

noticed try and implement some of these components I used and hopefully you can

start finding your groove now let's take a closer look at my setup and how I edit

my videos I think the three biggest upgrades I took to get myself on the

radar we're the elgato hd60 capture card the blue yeti microphone and my editing

software Final Cut Pro improving these three things really make the viewers

experience with your videos far more enjoyable so I definitely start here if

you're thinking of upgrading your setup for those of you who don't know the

elgato capture card works by plugging it into your computer via USB and then

running an HDMI from your monitor to the capture card and then another HDMI from

the capture card to your console this allows the screen to receive the ps4

signal but for the software on your computer to pick up everything going on

in the game the software is very easy to use featuring string capabilities and

recordings the blue yeti Mica's what you're listening to now it's my own

personal choice but I know that there are a lot of cheaper and still nice

sounding mics out there so definitely look up what the mics sound like on

YouTube before you buy the editing software is also super important

unfortunately this is the priciest part of the journey my software cost me about

300 bucks but it was so worth it I used iMovie in Windows Movie Maker for a

while but they were limited in the amount of overlays and things I could

add to the overall video nevertheless if you're looking for a free software to

get started definitely check one of those out to

help out little things to your videos you can use cool

to respond sir thumbnails and pop-ups in your videos this is a really cool site

to give you cooler style for music I use epidemic sound which provides copyright

free music so I never have to worry about strikes it does require a

subscription but I found it's a nice place to get those beats you'll enjoy so

much and the inside the amount of a diamond series of which another episode

is coming out this week to get behind the scenes on how I edit this is what

videos typically look like Final Cut Pro allows me to add a lot of stuff on top

of each other and to get the frame by frame that I need to add subtitles to

funny moments compilations don't buy all these things at once but start working

to checking some of those things off your setup list YouTube is an investment

and I hope it pays off for you guys coming from a guy who thought he was

stuck at a hundred subs forever it is possible to grow I wish you guys the

best of luck I hope you enjoyed the video stay diligent in your YouTube

careers and I can't wait to read comments about how you guys grew into

YouTube beasts do the next months and years to follow take care guys and I'll

see you all very soon

Road Trip & Cocktail Recipe: Black Dirt Distillery - Duration: 1:43.

I hope you're ready for bourbon and applejack, because we have two that are amazing!

Hello and welcome to the Velveteen Lounge Kitsch-en! It's happy hour once again and

I can't think of a better place to spend it than at the Black Dirt Distillery in Pine

Island, New York! Black Dirt Distilling was formed in 2012 because the Warwick Valley

Winery and Distillery, where the Black Dirt Bourbon and Applejack were originally made,

couldn't keep up with the demand. Let's take a tour and taste some hooch!

Black Dirt is renowned for their bourbon and this Manhattan variation also features their

sour cherry cordial! To make it, all you do is combine 2 oz of Black Dirt Bourbon, ½

oz American Fruits Sour Cherry Cordial, two dashes of orange bitters and a squeeze of lime juice. Shake with ice, strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with a cherry. It's like

It's like happy hour in heaven!

Black Dirt may seem like a funny name, but the Black Dirt region of New York produces

some amazing crops! The extremely fertile soil, from which it gets its name, is the

result of a glacial lake that formed 12,000 years ago. More mastodons have been found

here than any other place on earth! Black dirt has also been designated the official soil of the state of New York.

If you find yourself in the Hudson Valley, be sure to drop by the tasting room

of Warwick Valley Winery to sample some Black Dirt Distilling products and pick some up!

Thank you for visiting the Velveteen Lounge Kitsch-en! Please subscribe to our channel

for lovely libations, liquored up live broadcasts and more! It's always happy hour at the

Do You Suffer From MIGRAINE HEADACHES? This may help! www.LouiseAndMary.com - Duration: 8:01.

Hi everybody! Today we're going to be talking about migraine headaches. If

you suffer from migraine headaches, I am so sorry! I did suffer from migraine

headaches for years and I know the pain. I feel your pain. I'm doing this

video because I have overcome the painful world of migraines and I

want to pass this information along in case it can help you. According to the US

National Library of Medicine, about 12% of the US population

actually gets migraines. They are three times more common in women than

men and they list some things that can trigger a migraine including: anxiety,

stress, (that makes sense) lack of food or sleep, exposure to light,

hormonal changes in women, (that's why probably more women get them

than men) and it says doctors used to believe migraines were linked to the

opening and narrowing of blood vessels in the head. Now they believe the cause

is related to genes that control the activity of some brain cells. That is

not what I found. I found a different world and one of the books that I would

recommend if you suffer from migraines is called "Grain Brain" by Dr. David

Perlmutter. He is actually a renowned neurologist, so he knows about the brain.

In his book, I thought this was very interesting,

he writes, "Your brain weighs three pounds and has 100,000 miles of blood vessels..."

That is an enormous amount to think about. He says that, "All the studies to

date show how important lifestyle is when it comes to managing, treating and

permanently curing headaches if you can reduce sources of inflammation (lose the

extra weight, eliminate gluten, go low carb, and high good fat)" a good fat would

be like substituting real butter for margarine, real butter is a good fat, "and

maintain healthy blood sugar balance, you can target and control

headaches. I can tell you from my own personal experience, I suffered with

migraines for years and it didn't matter what I did, I could not get rid of the

migraine headaches. I could not figure out what was triggering my

headaches, until I started removing things from my diet. That's what

Dr. David Perlmutter also advises. Just to remove things from your diet to

see if that helps maybe, possibly, lessen the pain. He says that,

"whether you're dealing with tension headaches, cluster headaches, sinus

headaches, or migraines basically it's a collective basket of conditions that

share the same characteristic pain in the head due to physical and biochemical

changes in the brain." "As for those people who can't nail down a reason," if you

can't find the reason that causes your migraines, he says "that nine times out of

ten that reason could be undiagnosed gluten sensitivity. Here's the book again

so you can see it. That's what I found. I had to remove gluten from my

diet. I had to remove sweets from my diet because I wanted to be well. So I got off

the high carb, high sugar, standard American diet. I got away from the gluten.

I got away from the cookies, the desserts, the bread, the pastas,

and the white rice. I went over to the world of natural healing, whole

foods. My diet now consists of vegetables, proteins, good meats, good eggs, and fruit

in the healthy state, not in a processed state. I left the

processed food world and went over to the natural food world, and by doing so

and by building up my gut, (and I've done a video called "How I Beat my Sugar

Addiction") that also helped me with my migraines. I started drinking apple cider

vinegar. I started eating a probiotic food or

drinking a probiotic drink every time I put something in my mouth. By doing

that, I was helping my body heal itself from the inside, while avoiding putting

junk in it. Those two elements together is what I think reduced my

migraines and I am completely migraine free. I don't even have the headaches

anymore and I think I can control that by controlling my diet. Another

thing I just wanted to tell you, this was on Bastyr University. Bastyr

University is the school out west where people go to study if they want to

become a naturopathic doctor. There are different doctors in the world.

There are medical doctors and those are called allopathic doctors. Those are

doctors that can treat trauma. Those are the doctors that are needed on the

battlefield for our military. Those are the doctors that can do surgery, that can

stitch up wounds, that can take a bullet out of your arm. I hope

nobody ever has that. The other world is the naturopathic doctors. Those are the

doctors who see your body as a whole and, instead of treating the symptom which is

necessary for trauma, they treat the root cause. One of the articles I found

from Bastyr University was actually written by a doctor who used to suffer

from migraines. She wrote that she experienced triggers in some foods that

had additives in them such as nitrates. Nitrates are a preservative that is found

in processed meat: bacon, ham, deli meat, sausage, hot dogs, brats - things like that.

If you do like eating foods like that, you can find them nitrate-free. You

just have to read the label. She also mentioned MSG monosodium glutamate

(that's an additive) chocolate, alcohol, especially beer and red wine,

caffeine, and salty food. So I think it's just something else for us to maybe

think about. What we're eating in our diets might be affecting our

migraines . If you would like to reach out, I would

love to help you, or talk with you, or share some more research with you. We are here.

You can find us and contact us at LouiseAndMary.com.

You can also find us on our Fan Pages. In case you're interested, we

have an a free, online health evaluation that you can take confidentially in your

own home. All you do is complete this evaluation online and then it gives you

the results. That might be helpful in trying to

figure out why you might be having migraines.

Maybe you're dealing with an imbalance in your body. So, if you're interested,

please reach out. We would love to connect with you and help you. I work

with Louise Ramey, who is in school to become a naturopath practitioner.

W just enjoy reaching out to people and helping people. So if you found this

information helpful, please pass it on to somebody that it could help. We're

just here to help lighten each other's loads. We do these videos every day,

Monday through Friday. We'll be back again tomorrow with another video. We

hope that you enjoyed it and have a wonderful day. I hope it's pain-free!

adaptations & media critiques - Duration: 4:16.

Hello! Recently my friend Nick started a wonderful podcast about bad movies called Reel Bad and I have had the incredible privilege of being a frequent guest on this podcast.

It is a ton of fun and you should definitely check it out.

Link is in the description.

I have loved every episode of this podcast, and being a part of the recording process when I've gotten to do that.

But a few weeks ago we recorded what was, I think, my favorite episode to be on.

Part of why it was my favorite is because while we were ostensibly talking about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,

we were really talking about storytelling, which is just always my favorite.

I guess, in fairness, this is actually true of every episode of Reel Bad, but this was a conversation that I was particularly excited to have.

We had a lot of good storytelling conversations around Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but, in particular,

I got to be the odd man out espousing my unpopular, but deeply cherished opinion on adaptations.

Nick: OK, so, let's get into this. [laughter]

Nick: All right, this is hard for me to talk about because I am a Batman fan.

Sam: OK Nicole: Mm-hmm.

Nick: Um, but Nicole has a really good perspective on this–[laughter]–I don't know if it's good.

Nicole: We've–we've come prepared to fight. Nick: We've come prepared to fight.

[laughter] Sam: Oh good. Rachel: Oh boy.

Nick: And I'd be interested to see what you two think of this.

In short: I have very little reverence for the particulars of source material or the established canon when critiquing an adaptation.

Philosophically, if not always emotionally, I am deeply disinterested in source material fidelity.

Don't get me wrong, I love lots of things that have been adapted into another medium,

and I have definitely had an emotional reaction to things being different than what I expected.

What I am saying is that the adaption is a new thing, which by necessity must be changed in order to exist, and I'm much more interested in critiquing it on its own merits.

There's this weird sort of deification of "canon" in conversations about adaptations that I find not only uninteresting but also just not super useful.

I totally understand the emotional experience of feeling like an adaptation has gotten something "wrong" –

something that was important to you about the source material.

When the first Hunger Games movie was released, I remember being bummed that Madge, the mayor's daughter, was removed from the movies.

I have a particular grudge against the X-Men movies, mostly because the 90s cartoon's sassy-as-fuck version of Rogue holds such a dear piece of my heart

and I just really hate emo Anna Paquin Rogue.

But the thing is, those are gut feelings that say nothing whatsoever about the efficacy of those choices in telling those stories.

While I do like the way that Madge is woven into the books and could have been useful in the movies, she's not necessary.

Like, her absence didn't ruin those stories.

And the sort of idea behind emo Rogue makes a lot of sense, given what her power is.

Uh, I don't think it works in the space of those movies because I don't think that it was given sufficient emotional weight,

and it was just set up in a really kinda cheap way.

But at that point it becomes two separate critiques.

Like, I don't think that this story works because of the way in which they told it is different than this character must be this way because that is the way that I want her to be.

Again, I don't think that there's anything wrong with that initial gut reaction of, like, despair that something is different.

But it is also always worth noting that the thing that you love is still there.

And, importantly, there are all sorts of ways in which this thing that you love, uh, can inspire new things.

Adaptations can be a way to see how somebody else saw a thing.

Or they can be ways to turn elements of a character or a story on their heads.

When you're going from one medium to another, you're dealing with different benefits and constraints and some change is necessary.

Like, if you're not changing it in any way whatsoever, then what is the point?

Like, it already exists.

So much of the magic of stories is in the ways in which they allow us to expand our perspectives.

It just feels like a failure of the imagination if your primary critique of a story or a piece of art is that someone else's vision of a thing was different than yours.

So, those are my thoughts.

You can hear three brilliant and hilarious people disagree with me

and also hear all of us agree that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was not an enjoyable film over on Reel Bad.

Please let me know in the comments how you feel about adaptations and source material fidelity and all that good shit. OK bye!

This side is Coach

I'm not sure if Coach is expensive because I've never been there

No mom, these stores are not expensive

It is not like Louis Vuitton, Victor Hugo

This is the church my mom wants me to go to

My mom said this church is really beautiful

I came here today to go to this church

That is located at 5th avenue

I am also seeing these stores that I will never enter

I am a little shy to go into these stores

My mom said she liked...

Stop bus

My mom said this store is very good

Hollister. My husband said it is not really expensive

I think the 5th ave from here to there

It gets cheaper

So if you go towards 53, 52, 51...

It gets cheaper

Zara is not super expensive

For Americans Zara is not super expensive

Now, Victor Hugo, Louis Vuitton, Prada

These ones are expensive

I am a little bit confused

Because over there is Versace

Versace is an expensive store

Forget everything that I said

I think it's all mixed up

Victoria Secret is here and over there is Versace.

So, 5th ave is all mixed up. Expensive stores and not so expensive stores

This church...What is the name of this church?

This is St. Patrick's Church

And the Pope came here in 1965

I read this on Google

This church is important here in NYC

Over here is Saks Fifth Avenue

This store is famous here in the U.S.

It's a little bit expensive, but I love this store

because you can find nice stuff on sale

This one is the original, because it is on 5th avenue

I love it

It is like a gigantic C&A

Guys here is the...

Radio City

Music Hall

My husband told me to turn on the camera because it is important

I love that my husband knows everything

Because I don't know anything

It is pretty

My husband bought this ice cream

It is not an ice cream

Marshmallow with hot chocolate

This is delicious

Where did you buy Gabriel?

One of the best ice creams I've ever ate

But it's actually Marshmallow

We are almost going back home

But there is one more thing I wanna do

I wanna find this place

Number 6

It is one of the fountains that inspired the opening of the TV show Friends

There are lots of cool things to do

at Central Park

This park is huge

There is no way you can see the whole park in one day

My parents saw just a little bit of the park

We are just going to the fountain right now

And I will show it to you

I sang everything wrong

Sing it for me Gabriel

Sing Gabriel

How is the song?

I will sing with my mom

We are crossing

What is the name of this place Gabriel?

Look how beautiful

This is where people get naked and sunbathe

There is no one naked today. Did you see someone naked?

If you want to sunbathe come to...

What is the name of this place?

Gabriel, say Central Park

Our trip is finishing here in Central Park

New York is a city that has lots of things to do

I am a little bit sad because I wanted to go to Brooklyn

I wanted to take my parents there

I will have to come back
