U.S. deployment of strategic military assets in South Korea to begin later this year: Gov't - Duration: 0:46.

South Korea has confirmed that is holding active talks with the United States on the

deployment of U.S. strategic military assets in and around the Korean Peninsula.

The timing of the deployment, however, is undecided.

President Moon's National Security Adviser Chung Eui-yong,... made the remarks during

the president's rare meeting on Wednesday evening... with the leaders of South Korea's

major political parties.

He said the U.S. assets will be deployed to the region on a rotational basis,... and could

include nuclear-powered submarines, strategic bombers and stealth warplanes.

This comes as the South Korean military has warned North Korea could conduct further provocations

next month,... as it marks several important political anniversaries.

North Korean hackers attempt to steal Bitcoin from South Korea - Duration: 1:51.

South Korean police have concluded that North Korea was behind recent attempts to hack South

Korea's virtual money exchanges.

Local officials also say the nature of North Korea's cyberattacks are changing,... as the

cash-strapped regime targets cryptocurrency like Bitcoins to obtain funds.

Kim Hyo-sun reports.

North Korean hackers targeted at least four Bitcoin exchanges in South Korea earlier this

year in a bid to steal the digital currency.

South Korea's cyber police said Wednesday that North Korean hackers sent emails that

appeared innocuous, but contained malicious software applications.

In ten e-mails that were sent to 25 workers at four different Bitcoin exchanges, the hackers

disguised themselves as South Korean officials from public institutions, such as the police,

prosecution or Seoul City Government.

While no damages were reported,... there's speculation the cash-strapped regime, which

is heavily sanctioned by the UN,... is increasingly turning to digital currency to obtain funds.

(KOREAN) "North Korea's cyberattacks used to be aimed

at seizing private information or causing social strife in South Korea.

The attacks are now aimed at extorting money."

Last year, North Korea stole the personal data of more than ten million customers from

South Korea's Interpark,... an online auction and shopping site,... and held it for ransom

in exchange for nearly two-point-six million U.S. dollars in Bitcoin.

And a report released earlier this week by lawmaker Shim Jae-chul of the main opposition

Liberty Korea Party showed North Korea attempted to hack South Korea's central bank on multiple

occasions this year as well.

It's sunnier than yesterday but it will be breezier.

Those of us in the capital area are seeing temperatures 3 to 4 degrees lower than yesterday...

and the top temperatures will be 24 degrees Celsius in Seoul and Daejeon... while Daegu,

Gwangju and Jeju will reach 25 degrees.

The nation starts the long Chuseok holiday from the first day of October.

Light showers are expected over the weekend, so those of you that plan to head home over

the weekend or next Monday will need to drive with caution.. as that band of rain will bring

a chill to the air.

With that, let's take a look at the international weather for viewers around the world.

Most regions in South Korea will enjoy a sunny autumn day,... while North Korea will have

mostly sunny skies but cooler highs than the South.

As for major cities in Asia,...Beijing will have a similar weather pattern to Seoul with

a high of 23 degrees under lots of sunshine.

Meanwhile, those of you in Wellington will enjoy plenty of sun but temperatures will

be similar to yesterday.

Heading to North America, exceptionally hot and humid conditions will continue in Montreal

AND a Severe Thunderstorm Warning has also been issued, but things will return to norm

on Thursday.

As for South America, Lima and Rio de Janeiro

will be under sunny skies.

Taking you to Europe,... those of you in Paris will have a rainy Thursday while Stockholm

will wake up to a foggy morning.

Lastly to Africa, Cape Town will be mostly sunny and warm with a high of 23.

South Korea shows off military hardware in Armed Forces Day ceremony... with one eye on North Korea - Duration: 2:11.

Staying with the Armed Forces Day ceremony that came a little earlier than usual this

year,... the full force of South Korea's military was on display... as the recent tensions on

the Korean peninsula gave the event extra significance.

Kwon Jang-ho has this report.

South Korea's military strength was once again on display, as the country celebrated its

69th Armed Forces Day.

It commemorates the day when South Korean and UN forces reclaimed the 38th parallel,

the line that divided the two Koreas before the Korean War.

This year the ceremony took place a little earlier than usual, as the October 1st date

of the anniversary falls during the Chuseok national holiday.

35-hundred people attend the ceremony, staged at the Navy's Second Fleet in Pyeongtaek,

the first time it's been held at a naval base.

It's also near the location of several deadly clashes with the North over the years,...

a reminder that the Koreas technically remain at war.

The ceremony is seen as a chance to show-off South Korea's military hardware to the world,

and especially to North Korea.

In light of Pyongyang's recent provocations, Seoul was also keen to emphasize its own ballistic

missile capabilities.

On show were several weapons from the Kill Chain deterrence plan, which targets North

Korea's key nuclear bases in the case of an attack.

It includes the Hyunmoo-3 cruise missile,... and Hyunmoo-2 ballistic missile, which recently

had its range extended to 800 kilometers and was tested last month in a show of force after

Pyongyang's ballistic missile test.

To display the strong alliance with the U.S. military, General Vincent Brooks of the U.S.

Forces Korea was awarded the Tongil Medal, South Korea's top national security merit,

for his dedicated service...the first time a U.S. commander in Korea has been recognized

for Armed Forces Day.

Moon Jae-in has emphasized his priority is pursuing a peaceful solution, but with the

current tensions on the peninsula, the president recognized the importance of Armed Forces

Day as a show of the country's military readiness.

Hello everybody! Welcome to our twenty-seventh lesson!

Nice to see you there!

This is a grammar lesson.

And today we learn the conjugation of the auxiliary verbs.

In German there are three auxiliary verbs.

These are the verbs „haben", „sein" and „werden".

So now we will conjugate these three verbs.

So now we conjugate the verb "haben" (to have).

ich habe (I have)

du hast (you have)

er, sie, es hat (he, she, it has)

wir haben (we have)

ihr habt (you have)

sie, Sie haben (they, You have)

And here we have these endings.

I - the ending -e.

you - the ending -st

he, she, it - the ending -t

we - the ending -en

you - the ending -t

they, You - the ending -en

As you can see, the endings are there.

But as you notice, the conjugation is a little special.

For example, here we have "b" and here we don`t have "b".

And not here either.

So this conjugation is therefore a bit special.

So we simply have to learn this conjugation as it is.

And here is the verb "haben" in a sentence.

Ich habe eine Tochter (I have a daughter).

I say pronoun "ich" and then take the form "habe".

"Habe" with ending -e

So that's verb "haben".

And the second verb is "sein" (to be).

ich bin (I am)

du bist (you are)

er, sie, es ist (he, she, it is)

wir sind (we are)

ihr seid (you are)

sie, Sie sind (they, You are)

In some forms we have our endings.

For example, here we have -st

And here we have -t

But as you see, all other forms are quite different.

So very special conjugation.

And we simply have to learn the conjugation of the verb "sein".

Sie ist 20 Jahre alt (She is 20 years old).

We use pronoun „sie".

This is this "sie" - a woman.

Sie ist (she is).

She is 20 years old.

And now we conjugate the verb "werden" (to become).

ich werde (I become)

du wirst (you become)

er, sie, es wird (he, she, it becomes)

wir werden (we become)

ihr werdet (you become)

sie, Sie werden (they, You become)

Here, in some forms, we have our endings.

I - the ending -e

you - the ending -st

we - the ending -en

you - the ending -t

they, You - the ending -en

But here, for example, we do not have the ending -t.

And the forms are also special.

For example, here we have "i".

And here we don`t have the letter "d".

Here we don`t have the ending -t.

This conjugation is also special

and we must also learn it.

In the sentence "Er wird zum Arzt" (He becomes a doctor),

we have the verb "become".

Here we use "er". Er wird (he becomes).

"Er" and the form "wird".

He becomes a doctor.

So this was the fourth type - the conjugation of the auxiliary verbs.

And here you see your homework.

The first homework.

Please learn the conjugations of these verbs, of the auxiliary verbs "haben," "sein," "werden".

These conjugations must be simply learned.

And the second homework.

Please write three sentences.

To write three sentences with these verbs.

For example, I have a daughter.

She is 20 years old.

He becomes a doctor.

So simply three sentences with these three verbs.

Trump proposes major tax cuts - Duration: 1:57.

U.S. President Donald Trump has proposed what he calls "the largest tax cuts in American

history."

Speaking at an event in Indiana on Wednesday, Trump said he wanted to make the tax code

simpler and fairer for all Americans.

Ro Aram has the details.

President Trump insists the tax cuts are aimed at helping the middle class and that they

will help bring back more jobs and wealth to the United States.

The plan would lower seven tax bands to three, but what income levels would qualify for each

rate is unknown.

The top marginal tax rate would also be cut from 39-point-six percent to 35 percent.

The amount of tax individuals and families can deduct will nearly double to 12,000 and

24,000 dollars, respectively.

For businesses, the corporate tax will be slashed from 35 to 20 percent.

This all sounds promising, but Democrats are criticizing the plan as favoring the rich

and it is also sparking concerns that it could add trillions of dollars to the national debt

over the next decade.

President Trump's proposal outlines many cuts, but there's little detail about how deficits

will be paid for.

Republicans are desperate for a legislative victory after failing to overhaul the country's

healthcare system and they have been trying to rewrite the U.S. tax code, which was last

revised in 1986.

The GOP now faces a tough battle in Congress to endorse the tax reform plan, which could

take months.

Korea's Olympic body opens new training center in Jincheon - Duration: 2:14.

South Korea's Olympic body is opening an exciting new chapter in the nation's sports facilities.

With the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Games just a few months away, South Korea's Olympic hopefuls

got to test it out first.

Our Won Jung-hwan reports from the Jincheon Sports Village.

The new home of elite sports in Korea finally opened on Wednesday at Jincheon Sports Village

in Chungcheongbuk-do Province.

The center replaces Taereung National Training Center in Seoul, which had served the country's

top athletes since 1966.

More than 2,000 people, including Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon , Minister of Culture, Sports,

and Tourism Do Jong-hwan , and President of the Korean Sport and Olympic Committee Lee

Kee-heung , attended the opening ceremony.

"We have built the world's largest sports village in Jincheon as the first step toward

the further development of sport in Korea.

In particular, this future-oriented village will open up a new platform to strengthen

the athletes' training system."

Construction of the sports village in Jincheon started in 2009 and cost over 450 million

U.S. dollars.

The site is three times larger than the complex at Taereung, and has facilities for 35 sports,

including some, like cycling, rugby and the triathlon, that the old complex was lacking.

"Taereung is in Seoul and it was built in the 60s, so the training facilities couldn't

be expanded.

But, since there is a clear difference with the size of its area, I think the best part

of the change is in the scale of the village."

The first test for Jincheon sports village will be the preparations for the 2018 PyeongChang

Winter Olympics, where Korea is targeting a fourth place finish in the medal table,

focusing on the speed skating, short track, and bobsleigh events.

But the support system provided by Jincheon will help Korean sport long after Pyeongchang

2018's closing ceremony.

Kim Jong-un unlikely to start a war as priority is preserving his regime: CBS News - Duration: 1:43.

This is no news to most South Koreans who have long become immune to North Korea threats,...

but many experts around the world are now voicing their opinions on how North Korea

is unlikely to start a war it cannot win.

This,... as many fear the chances of a nuclear exchange between the U.S. and the Hermit Kingdom...

are at their highest point in recent years.

Yu Joonhee tells us more.

CBS News, citing various pundits on Wednesday,... says the survival of the regime in Pyongyang,...

is its leader Kim Jong-un's top priority,... despite behavior that could otherwise be seen

as reckless and irrational.

They also say,... that although Pyongyang may, or may soon have the capability to devastate

an American city with a nuclear-tipped ICBM,... it's seen as having no ability to destroy

the U.S. outright.

However, amid the escalating war of words... and brewing mistrust between Washington and

Pyongyang,... experts say even the slightest of miscalculations could easily trigger a

full-scale war on the Korean Peninsula.

(English) "My concern is that cumulatively some sort

of miscalculation where Kim doesn't take something seriously and he reacts..."

There are some observers who also fear... that the world is closer to nuclear war than

it has been at any time since the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962.

Although it's hard to predict,... the exact shape and form of a potential military conflict

on the Korean Peninsula... the death toll is easily expected to be in the hundreds-of-thousands,

if not millions.

Those fears continue to persist,... with the harsh verbal tit-for-tat between the U.S.

and North Korea,... showing no signs of cooling down at the moment.
