Boat Review - Everyman 840 CC with John Eichelsheim - Duration: 3:31.
Hi this is John Eichelsheim from Boating New Zealand magazine, and today we're
having a look at the Everyman 840 centre cab.
Everyman produce a range of aluminium vessels,
from 4 m to 9.4 m, for both recreational
and commercial applications. And this particular boat "TeamEffort" is a walk
around centre cab, based on the Everyman 820 hull.
It's been stretched by 300 millimeters
to carry the extra weight of a 370 horsepower
V8 twin Mercruiser diesel engine.
And that's driving through a Bravo 3 leg.
Russell Spiers, is the Principal of Everyman boats, and this Boat is his personal vessel.
He's equipped it for fishing, and of course it's a walk-around it's a
fantastic fishing boat. Casting soft baits, casting stick baits, casting a fly.
The cockpit is wide open, very easy on the feet, and there is a nice casting
platform, a fishing platform out on the transom as well.
Performance from the V8 Mercruiser is strong. We saw just a shade under
40 knots on test day, but that was with four adults aboard, and pushing a fair bit of
tide as well, and a full tank of fuel.
On the day that the boat was launched
during its initial trials on Lake Karapiro, Russell saw 43 knots at 4200 rpm.
So she's a fairly quick vessel.
Russell and his partner Joe also enjoy over-nighting, and this boat is set up for that.
There's a good sized berth in the centre cabin.
A galley under the seat, which is quite cleverly hidden away,
fold the seat forward, and there it is. There's a cockpit shower , and of course
there's a toilet in the forward cabin as well.
The Everyman 840 CC handles nicely.
It's quite nimble for a big boat, very
responsive to the helm, and with the V8 Mercruiser pushing it along, there's
heaps and heaps of response to push the throttle forward, and she just leaps ahead.
According to Russell this vessel will also perform well with a V6
Mercruiser, the 260 horsepower version, or with outboards. And Russell has sold a
boat which will be fitted with twin 250 horsepower Hondas.
