MAKING OF "PAPERS, PLEASE - The Short Film" (2018) - Duration: 8:13.Liliya and I want to make films, one way or another. We are into film making,
we aspire to make good cinema and our ultimate goal is to create feature-length films.
Why are we called 'Kinodom' (Film House)? We know the people we work with,
they are our friends. People who we already worked with on our previous projects
made up 90% of the film crew. We already had an assembled crew.
We took some time off to gather ourselves after we had completed our graduation projects.
It just so happens that we remembered 'Papers, please'. It is a computer game
that we first played in 2013 when it had just come out.
It took us one night to pass it to the end, we couldn't tear ourselves away from the game.
Since then we kept remembering it. The game is involving and deep, there's a lot to discuss.
We started working on our ideas, on the screenplay and eventually came up with a short seven page story.
We never meant it as a piece of fan fiction.
To us, it was one the most crucial things that the film was authorized.
We translated the screenplay into English and went through a series
of challenges to find the contact information of Lucas Pope, the creator of the game.
We sent him the screenplay…
…And forgot about it. A week or two passed and Lucas answered.
We were jumping for joy, doing this:
A common issue with film adaptions of video games is that people who make them
often try to change the original story. We tried to avoid that as best as we could.
We took the universe invented by Lucas Pope and brought it to the screen
trying to keep as much of the original idea as we could.
It is a totalitarian dystopia that was largely inspired by Orwell's '1984',
which is one of my all-time favorites.
We had no intention to make the film political or to refer to the real world and real events.
The game features countries' names and their logos, passports and other documents
but the information is symbolic, if anything.
All we had to do was to take those brief, pixelated elements and bring them to life.
It is quite a challenge to translate an 8-bit game into a film.
We collected lots of references from the films
that we found visually exquisite and started to think how we can create something
beautiful of our own.
We had to build a location since if we had been shooting in a real-life location,
we would not have enough space. We wouldn't have been able to do exactly what we wanted.
We built the walls, then we had to skim coat them, paint them and add small clefts.
We sew buttons and other accessories to the costumes,
and they had to be ordered separately and cast in 3D.
That is why we were constantly short of time and always had to work extra hours and finish everything.
And I remember this very vividly: we arranged everything,
I came on set and realized that was it! I'm in the customs inspector's booth in Arstotzka.
We can start filming now!
Even though the film looks kind of gloomy, mostly dark colors are used,
there was more than enough lighting on set.
To me, coming on set feels like birthday. I get to see the people I love,
my friends, everyone's waiting for me.
Except that they have complaints instead of presents.
The film crew is like a kid's birthday party. The second you turn your back,
they are riding scooters around the set wearing their costumes.
One of the things that we relied on while working on the inspector's image
was our own experience with the game.
We recalled the decisions we made and contemplated which moves would be more impressive in terms of drama.
So, whenever I played the game, I let Eliza pass.
I just didn't have the heart to give her the denial stamp.
But in terms of drama and the perspective of the short feature we aspired to create,
it would have been a lot more interesting if the inspector had not let her pass
reasons beyond his control.
My vision of the inspector is that he is like '1984' character
but with a military attitude. We remembered this actor, Igor Savochkin.
He so perfectly fit with our vision of the inspector that we couldn't think of a more suitable actor for this part.
Not only he is a super professional, he is a super human.
'The filming starts four hours late? That's fine,
I'll just walk around, have some coffee, these things happen'.
Igor Yurievich was very creative on set and truly brought the character to life.
After the inspector gives Eliza the denial stamp, he has a reaction to it .
It was in the screenplay, but it was Igor Yurievich who made it the way it is.
At first we wanted to chock up the space behind the inspector with stacks
stacks filled with cards and files that you always have at a checkpoint.
But then we decided to add to the feeling of being under constant control.
Imagine the inspector sitting there doing his job and the Eagle
behind his back is always there, right in the center, watching.
All his decisions are constantly being judged.
We have been making short features for quite a while now and we have worked out
our own rules, our own narrative, so to speak.
We wanted to do things our way rather than work with a different
production company that has its own ways.
Nobody would listen to us since we are actually very young film makers.
Trusting a 25-year-old director and a 24-year-old producer with a project like this
does not sound like a very well thought-out initiative.
This is the first time Liliya and I have made a film that may be interesting
to somebody rather than just us. From the earliest steps,
when we had just announced that we were working on it, we received a lot
of kind words and support that really helped us.
The director is a very nice person which is uncommon for film-making.
He is calm and composed. Even if there is an emergency,
he'll always say 'Right, what can we do about this?' Only after things are handled
he might say he was actually panicking inside.
For me, it was the first project where I couldn't afford to stress out due to health reasons.
That is why I just felt happy and serene all the time.
Zhora, our lighting designer, told me that he knew everything.
He had seen the way it was done, and he would need 20 smoke grenades.
I said OK, suppose you do know that. In the end, not only our lighting designer set the lighting,
he also handled the smoke grenades on set.
What's remarkable about this is that his son who was about 6 weeks old then,
was lying just a few meters away, watching his father happily jogging around with the grenades.
Now that the film came out, it is very heartwarming to receive all this positive attention.
We are getting so many nice reviews and feedback.
We hope that we achieved our primary goal which was creating a
good film adaptation of a great video game.

The Boardwalk And Waterslides on Symphony of the Seas - Duration: 11:41.Royal Caribbean's new Symphony of the Seas,
the world's largest cruise ship,
features a Boardwalk amusement area
that is different from the Boardwalk areas found on previous vessels in the same class of ships.
The Boardwalk area on Symphony of the Seas
features a sprawling sports bar and arcade called Playmakers.
It's a new concept for Royal Caribbean.
Playmakers has booth seating
as well as communal tables and a bar area.
Two shuffleboard tables
are among the amusements at Playmakers,
which was designed with families in mind.
A bar wraps around one end of Playmakers
and features more than half a dozen screens
that will play live sporting events during voyages.
This is the bar at Playmakers.
Large screens that will show live sporting events
line the walls at Playmakers.
Royal Caribbean has invested heavily into securing feeds
for live sporting events at the venue,
which is relatively unusual in the cruise industry.
Playmakers is in the same space that houses a Mexican eatery
on sister ship Harmony of the Seas.
Playmakers sprawls along an entire side of the Boardwalk
and features an area with arcade games.
Racing car simulators are among the attractions
in the arcade area of Playmakers.
Playmakers was designed to appeal to both adults and their children,
in keeping with the Boardwalk area's family-friendly vibe.
Playmakers is a sprawling venue
that also takes up space that housed a Starbucks on sister ship Harmony of the Seas.
Among the diversions at Playmakers is Skee Ball.
The Boardwalk on Symphony of the Seas
also features an ice cream parlor and candy outlet called Sugar Beach
another new concept for Royal Caribbean.
Sugar Beach is a colorful venue
located just across the Boardwalk from Playmakers.
Sugar Beach features a wide array of sweets.
A corner of Sugar Beach is devoted to a wall of candy.
Waffle cones are available at the ice cream counter at Sugar Beach.
Nearly a dozen flavors of ice cream are available at Sugar Beach.
A single scoop of ice cream in a cup at Sugar Beach costs $3;
two scoops is $4.50.
Giant Rice Krispies Treats are among the offerings at Sugar Beach.
Rainbow Twisters and Hollow Licorice

The Johnny Rockets on Symphony of the Seas
is similar in size and in the same location
as the Johnny Rockets on sister ship Harmony of the Seas.
The Johnny Rockets on Symphony of the Seas serves burgers,
fries, milkshakes and other diner favorites
with a backdrop of 1950s diner music and entertainment.
Just to the left of Johnny Rockets is a surf shop called the Surf Shack.
Surf Shack carries board shorts, shirts,
sunglasses and other sunny weather gear
from such brands as Quicksilver and Roxy.
The Surf Shack shop on the Boardwalk
is open throughout the day when the ship is at sea.
The Surf Shack features a wall of sunglasses
by such makers as Oakley and Ray-Ban.
A sign along the Boardwalk points passengers
to such attractions as the Aqua Theater and rock climbing walls.
A netted climbing attraction
is just to the right of Johnny Rockets
along the Boardwalk of Symphony of the Seas.
A maximum of 21 people at a time
are allowed on the climbing attraction along the Boardwalk.
The Boardwalk area on Symphony of the Seas
also is the ending point for the ship's Ultimate Abyss slide,
which descends from the top of the vessel.
Ultimate Abyss descends from Deck 16 of Symphony of the Seas to the Boardwalk,
which is located on Deck 6.
As there is no Deck 13 on Symphony of the Seas,
the distance is nine floors.
The nine-deck-high Ultimate Abyss slide
plunges from the top of Symphony of the Seas to the Boardwalk area.
The landing zone for the Ultimate Abyss slide
runs down the middle of the Boardwalk area.
The Boardwalk area also is home to two giant rock climbing areas.
The Ultimate Abyss slide
is multi-sensory experience with sounds and lights.

Like Harmony of the Seas,
Symphony of the Seas features a massive water slide complex on its top deck
called Perfect Storm.
Royal Caribbean just began adding water slides to its ships in 2016.
Symphony of the Seas' water slide area
features three separate slides,
two of which wrap around each other
as they descend from a launch area on Deck 18.
The Perfect Storm water slide area is just one of many attractions
along the open-air top decks of Symphony of the Seas.
The Perfect Storm water slide area on Symphony of the Seas
includes a yellow-and-green 'champagne bowl' slide.
The Main Pool is located on Deck 15 just off the Perfect Storm water slide area.
Royal Caribbean's Symphony of the Seas
also features a water-less slide called Ultimate Abyss
that descends from the top of the ship to one of its lower decks.
The Ultimate Abyss on Royal Caribbean's Symphony of the Seas
is comprised of two side-by-side slides that drop nine decks.
Passengers enter Symphony of the Seas' Ultimate Abyss
slide through a giant fish head on Deck 16.
Symphony of the Seas
also features a watery fun zone for children called Splashaway Bay.
Not for from the water slides on Symphony of the Seas is the Main Pool.
It is one of three major pools along the ship's top deck.

March Beauty Favorites 2018 - Duration: 12:26.hi everyone so today's video is going to be my favorite products from the month
of March 2018 I can't believe that March has already gone by so quickly and that
it's gonna be April in like two days so let's go ahead and get into it and
you can see the products that I have been loving this month to start off I
have a few brushes that I want to talk about the first one is the elf
foundation blurring brush I think I talked about this in a recent haul video
but this is really just so great for blending in your foundation during the
day it has a really nice soft top and the bristles are very fluffy and I don't
think it just kind of sucks in your product which is great and it just does
a really good job of buffing in the foundation for a really natural finish
the next two brushes are from wet N wild and the first is the wet and wild
contour brush I use this to contour my face today the bristles have a pretty
nice give which helps you make a really nice contour to your face without it
looking just kind of like a straight line I think this is a really good job
of blending it in because of the shape and it's really soft and this sells I
believe for $1.99 which is amazing the last one while the brush is just their
flat top brush I think this also sells for $2 or something and I love using
this for my bronzer I used it with my bronzer today and it is so great for
just kind of buffing that out and because of the shape of it I think it
just blends really nicely and all of these brushes you can get at the
drugstore and they are really great quality for such a low price so I
definitely recommend them if you haven't tried them yet for primer I have been
loving the Catrice prime and fine anti-shine blur stick what I'll do with
this if I have kind of a more luminizing primer that I want to use I don't like
to put those primers in my t-zone because that's where I have a lot of
pores so I've been taking this with almost every other primer that I've used
the last couple weeks and I will take this prime and fine stick
and just kind of draw in around the nose here the center of the forehead down on
my chin all of those places where I have kind of more of a tendency for my pores
to stick out and kind of get like a shiny finish to the skin kind of a
couple hours into the day and I will use this and just kind of Pat it in those
areas and it does a great job of filling it in for a really smooth look to the
skin without making it feel really greasy or built up it still feels really
natural and comfortable and does a great job of smoothing out those areas and
resisting oil from kind of building up and looking shiny at the end of the day
the foundation that I have been loving this month and almost reaching for at
least two or three times a week is the ELF flawless finish foundation this
retails for six dollars a day on this foundation a couple weeks ago that I
will link below but I'm wearing this on my face today and it just gives a really
natural finish and glow to the skin and it's not super super full coverage you
can still see a little bit of spots kind of sticking out on my skin but with how
natural this is and for the price of it this is really amazing which is why I
have been reaching for it daily and it's also just really really comfortable to
wear so the concealer that I have been
picking up almost exclusively since I grabbed it a couple weeks ago is the
Maybelline age rewind eraser dark circles concealer you can already see
how much I've kind of blown through and just truly like a couple weeks I love
this I'm wearing this on my face today as well and I think it just does such a
good job of brightening up the under eye area concealing dark circles without
looking super thick and heavy and it just looks so natural you can see and
has just a really great glow for underneath the eyes and it doesn't look
like I've caked on a lot a bunch of product it just brightens up and
conceals that whole area and this is only I think it's seven dollars or so at
the drugstore and this is amazing if you haven't tried this I highly recommend it
I love it the next product is the
Maybelline fit me loose finishing powder I have the shade 5 in fair and this is
another product that I have been reaching for all the time I'm wearing it
on my face today and I think this just sets down the skin in a really really
special type of way and it just has this strange brightening effect while looking
really natural you can see that there's just kind of been a theme this month of
I want very natural-looking finishes that still kind of let that glow shine
through and this definitely does that I don't feel like it kind of cakes on the
powder and kind of clings to weird spots on my skin and I think it does a
really good job of setting down the makeup and helping it last longer
throughout the day while just giving a really healthy finish to the skin so
definitely give this a try for bronzer and I'm so excited to talk about this I
talked about it in a recent video that I can link below but this is the L'Oreal
True Match Lumi bronze it bronzer and this is in the shade light I'm wearing this
on my skin today and this is just so pretty I think it's 11 dollars maybe 12
at Walmart and it is exclusively at Walmart so you will have to go there to
pick it up but you get this giant pan that has a really pretty kind of design
in it and this is such a pretty bronzed glow without being super warm or orange
which is a hard thing to find I think for fair skin is finding a bronzer
that's not going to have a huge orange undertone and this really does that I'll
swatch it on the back of my hand here and it is just so pretty pigmented glowy
easy to work with I can put on just a ton of this bronzer like I put on a lot
of it today and I don't think it ever looks like too much you can just keep
going the more you put on the prettier it looks so this bronzer really has no
limits I've used it for eyeshadow before and it is just so glowy and gives your
skin a really nice sunkissed look and I love it I've been using this almost
every day so definitely definitely definitely give this a try if you have
not tried it already for eyeshadows I have been adoring the Milani most loved
mattes and bold obsessions palettes I did a first impressions I believe of these
palettes that I can link below but these are $15 at Walmart you can save $5 if
you get them at Walmart instead of like online or Ulta or
something because they retail for $20 on those websites but these are incredible
I'm gonna open the bold obsessions so that you can see them as well these are
amazing they're better than some of the high-end eyeshadow palettes that I own
and these are $15 each I'll just do a couple of swatches of these so that you
can see them these are some of the shades from the bold obsessions like oh
my gosh this gold shade all of these are so beautiful so pigmented I absolutely
love them and seriously $15 like that's amazing and here are some from the most
loved mattes I'm just kind of gra-- grabbing random shades so these are the
shades from the most loved mattes and I just went in and kind of picked random
colors these are so pigmented so buttery easy to blend honestly better than some
of the I high-end palettes that I own so I could not recommend these more I wore
the most loved mattes for a show that I was in almost every day I was at
rehearsals for maybe six hours and then performances and things stayed on the
whole time never made my eyes feel weird in any way really pretty buttery easy to
use and there's just so much versatility in the shades of these products so
definitely give these a chance if you have not tried them for my eyelashes I
have really been loving the L'Oreal voluminous lash primer I primed my
eyelashes with this today and this just does a really good job of lengthening
out the eyelashes without going in for falsies or anything and immediately when
I use this I can feel or not feel whenever I use
this I can see just my lashes extend in length because it's kind of like a wax
white wax base and it just kind of clings on to the end of your eyelashes
and so this really helps fill out my lashes before I go in with a mascara for
brows if you've seen my recent videos you can probably see me using these
products all the time because I really use them all the time I've been loving
them so much so I have the wet n wild ultimate brow retractable brow pencil
and you get a nice kind of this shaped eyebrow tip on one side and then on the
other side you have a spoolie and this is just really easy to work with I use
it on my eyebrows today if you mess up at all you can just kind of wipe it away
it doesn't kind of stick to the skin in places you don't want it to but it does
stay on your brows all day and I just think this is really easy to work with
the formula is not too waxy it goes on very smooth and I love this I want to
say that this is two or three dollars from the drugstore the second brow
product is the essence make me brow gel brow mascara and this is so great I use
the shade 3 soft Brown and this just has a little spoolie that you can go in and
give your eyebrows a little bit of an extra hold and tint to them so if I'm in
a big rush I'll just throw on a tinted moisturizer and some of this and I am
good to go and then on these that I want like the fuller brow look I'll put this
on top of my brow pencil or powder and it just kind of holds my eyebrows in the
shape that I want them while giving that extra kind of tint and longevity to the
brow where and I think this is $3.00 from Ulta it's amazing the last product
is the Eyelure Naturals multi pack falsies I use these when I was in that
show that I mentioned earlier and these are really comfortable and
natural-looking I think I wore them for a recent video and I can't remember
which video it was but I did wear them and I don't think that they feel
uncomfortable at all and I don't think they look like
too much on the eyes which for me I'm just not used to seeing very very full
lashes so I love how natural these look and these are ten dollars at Ulta and
they are reusable so when you get a pack of them you get three oh one of mine
kind of fell but you get three different sets and they will last you for a bit as
long as you take care of them and things so I definitely recommend these they're
comfortable easy to put on and the glue that comes with them is really really
great so definitely give these a shot as well so that concludes my March
favorites of 2018 I will link all the products below if you like this type of
