Inside LA Valiant Ep 3: Last Chance - Duration: 7:29.
I think everyone expected things to just get better when we transitioned coaches
and didn't really understand that the problems with the team lay a lot deeper
than that I think some of the players on the team started looking at Agilities as
a problem to solve rather than as a teammate. Coach Moon was still in Korea
so he was kind of able to see this from a remote perspective but wasn't able to
impact it on the ground and so to kind of stall the problems and prevent things
from getting worse until he could get here he wanted to swap KariV onto a flex
dps role how many heroes have you played today
My name is Brady Girardi and my in-game name is Agilities I am 18 years old from
Alberta Canada it was difficult for me at first because of how hard I've been
working to keep my spot and I had to deal with a lot of pressure and stress
from the main roster guys and just like had to take a lot of criticism and a lot
of feedback and they didn't do it in the nicest way so it was hard on me mentally
and then you know after all about work after all that like trying and trying to
impress them and trying to gain their trust back like they just sent me to the
other team and I felt like crushed.
So the sister team is basically like
the bench players I guess until now we were kind of just festering away on the
bench doing nothing and since we have enough subs to make a
roster we decided it'd be better for those subs to make one team we haven't
been scrimping anymore we weren't really actively watching
scimming about being used in the discussion so much as well as well it
was important that we had a platform to actually practice and improve because
because otherwise what's the point having a special time ranked
my name is Indy Halperin my in-game name is Space 17 years old and I'm from
New York City my name is Christopher James Schafer and
my in-game alias is Grimreality and I'm from Chico California my name is Ted
C Wang my in-game name is Silkthread and I am from Katy Texas so I'm Sebastian
Barton and I'm Numlocked in-game I'm 25 years old and I'm from Livington
On the sister team it's a lot more like laid-back and we have more fun and people are as
aggressive with each other when things go wrong because you know when we'll
focus on getting better we don't mind too much about losing. They hadn't been
scrimming for a while so they're obviously itching to scream again and
they're happy about it because they got a chance to do something other than
playing ranked all day we all know how like bad ranked is for practice so
that's probably the main reason why the sister team is a good idea so they have
a chance to you know get better and improve and be on the same level of the
main roster guys. Every player gets a even amount of practice time and so that
we're all ready to rotate in if needed we all need to be prepared.
I was even tougher for Brady just because he's kind of like the star player of the
team like if you think valiant Brady's put one of the first people that comes
to mind to me. I'm sure reading comments all the messages it gets and stuff making made
even harder for him to transition out of that because the you know puts
into his mind that he should be on the team and in some cases that right I
think he should be on the team because he brings a less one-dimensional style
of play to seem I think in the in the fact that he can play more hit projectile
heroes than most of the people on the team
I felt like I wasn't good enough to be here and I felt like there's no reason
for me to be here so I my mentality kind of shifted and then I tried to get
better on the sister team playing a good environment with my friends and overall
that really helped me out
So when Coach Moon and I had had a big conversation with the rest of the
coaching staff one of the things he mentioned is that you know he thinks
you're really good mechanically it was like he wants to spend a lot of time
with you like one-on-one trying to give you that environment that
you didn't have before so you understand that you're gonna be
have a have a shot at the main roster again yeah but but to be transparent
with you like this is the shot right and so I really hope that you go into this
giving it everything you can and really working as hard as you possibly can and
showing everyone how hard you're working and how much you're learning from coach
moon because you know this is the shot if this doesn't work it's gonna be
really hard to kind of build that bond up again you know I'm a big fan of yours
I'm really looking forward to see what you can do with like a more structured system.
It's a lot of pressure I mean it's good though because I I kind
of feel renewed and I feel better about playing but like overall like having
that that pressure where it's like basically just perform as best as you
can or you're out it's a hard feeling. I've only scrimmed two
days so far but two days I've probably played better in scrims than I have in a
long time so it's looking hopeful.

How To Use A Breadboard For Your Model Railroad Lighting - Duration: 16:09.
if you want to light up your model railroad and want to see how to get this
breadboard assembled so you could do it easily you're gonna want to watch this
video right now I'm Tom Kvichak and this is Toms Trains and Things this channel
was created to help other modelers who are in need of guidance in pursuing
their dream of building a model railroad and we're going to take this breadboard
that I showed you the other day I'm going to disassemble everything on here and
rearrange it and show you how to do it I figured out a different way of doing it
when you're doing a breadboard you're putting the components on there just to
test it out and to see how it would work and experiment with it but since I have
the design of a correct I figured out a way to rearrange it on there a little
bit better so we have the LED on one side of the breadboard and everything
else on the other side of the breadboard and I also made one for the mini
breadboard that doesn't have a power bus along the side on each side of them so I
put a little connector on there transferring this to a circuit board is
a next step after I show you how to put it on these little bread boards here now
that'll be another video after this showing you how to put it on a circuit
board something similar to this where you have to put jumpers on the back of
it this has holes similar to what's on the breadboard now you can buy circuit
boards in different sizes I have I bought a pack of circuit boards that
have I think one two three four five assorted sizes you can also get circuit
boards that have the traces that are similar to the bands that are on the
breadboard now on the breadboard you have the power buses on either end you
can see how the power bus works and then the working area
everything is common in that direction right there here's the schematic diagram
of what we're working with I'm going to show this battery here as our power
source with the plus and the minus right here now we have the first resistor here
R 1 which is the 680 ohm resistor this one right here is the 150 K ohm resistor
and this is the the trim pot this is our variable resistor this is our q1
it's a SS 8:05 oh and this is our LED we could use any LED we want right there
now we'll go over to what it looks like on the breadboard and we'll see the same
thing over here this is r1 which is the 680 ohm resistor this is the R 2 which
is the 150 K ohm resistor and you'll see that they are both connected to the
positive terminal there okay now this 680 as you can see goes all the way up
to the anode of the LED which is right here
okay this resistor right here 150 k ohm goes on to one leg of the potentiometer
right here right there the center post of this one goes up to the transistor
the base of the transistor which is right here
the other leg of the trim pot goes down to your negative and it also goes to the
emitter of your transistor now on the on the actual breadboard that I'm working
on I moved it down to these terminals right here
I'm just showing it right here because it's it's a little bit clearer like this
but I put these two leads the base in the emitter right here in here and I put
the collector in this one I just bend it up to fit over on this one right here
but it's the same thing as coming down like this okay and then moving this up
to there but anyway that's what that is right there that's the emitter which
comes on to the other side of the variable resistor and goes to your
negative terminal on your power source and then the other side of the
transistor which is right here goes up to the cathode of your LED right there
so that's the entire wiring diagram in there you have two fixed resistors a
variable resistor a transistor and an LED and that's what it looks like here
I'm going to I'm just showing you one instance of it but when we do it we'll
put a couple of them on here and the video after this one we're going to show
you how to put all of this on your PC board we're going to start off on his
breadboard on this side we're going to do a couple of them and the first thing
we're going to use on here is the 680 ohm resistor and how we're going to do
this is we're going to connect it to the positive rail and
we turn this around this way so it'll make it a little bit easier and we'll
just take it for the positive rail and then come up here like that and then
we'll take 150 K now we're gonna not going to trim a lot off of here and
we'll stick it in the next slot down on both the positive and the working part
of it now we're going to put a jumper in here and this jumper is going to go on
the want the opposite leg of the potentiometer but it's going to go from
the negative terminal so we're going to put it like right here okay so now we
got that you can see our potentiometer here and they have some slots in there
to set it and it'll set it back just in case there you have some wires in there
and the way and we're gonna put it in there is like this we're gonna put it up
as close as we can to the front maybe that's a little bit too close I'll try
this one right here okay right there and that gives us enough in the back for our
transistor we're going to do on this one here we're going to bridge the gap in
there and move it over some but before I do
that let me put this other jumper in here I'll put this one right here and
we'll put that jumper right there okay and that'll connect this resistor all
the way up and put it on this side all right now with this
transistor right here like I showed you in the diagram before we have the
emitter on the side where the side of the potentiometer that goes to the
negative this is the base and then this is the collector so we're just going to
put it over here we're going to try to bridge this over and I might have to get
this a little bit further out
and so as you can see right here and let me use my exacto this is the emitter in
this pin right here on the base of this one is the base of the transistor and
the collector is on this side over here now we're going to put our LED we're
going to take our long one and put it where the jumper is and we'll just stick
it right up here I'm going to stick the power supply on here there we go
you know on these longer ones there's no connection between this side and this
side here so you can see that that one works and let me get my screwdriver
these always have slots in them and if I would have cut these resistors down they
would bend down lower but just for the sake of doing this we'll show you how
that increases so we're testing it out right away
okay so we'll take the power off of it that's our first one now we'll go over
to the next one and we'll do the same thing we'll go from here to right there
here we go got it in there and get my other resistor put that in the next one
let me get my needlenose and I'll just shove that in there with that okay there
we go
okay so we got those two resistors we'll skip one and put in a jumper and put it
on the negative let's turn this in just a little bit
it is no there we go
I think it there we go okay we'll take this potentiometer I put it right here
and I think what we're gonna do here we're going to put a couple of okay when
we take yes see if I could find if I got the right length jumpers here let me put
another white one over here for the one end of our LED Esther bend it down a
little bit more
I'm going to speed this up a little bit while I put the transistor in there and
what I'm gonna do is place the transistor like I showed in the diagram
across from the center gap so just just to show you that it works just like I
had it in the diagram on here the emitter is on the left the base is in
the center and the collector is on the right and we'll put the LED in there so
we could apply power and watch this thing light up again and we'll apply the
power and adjust it so we can see the difference in the brightness of the two
LEDs and there we go the brightness and the dim on both of them
okay there it is all the way up to the brightness on there let me turn the
lights on here I'll show it that way and then we'll bring it down
let me put it to about right there so you could see them so even that not
quite halfway there still pretty bright and we've spent so much time on this one
here that I'm not going to have enough time I mean we're already at about 16
minutes going on 16 minutes and this one here I'm gonna do on the next one show
you how to do this I'm gonna do the same thing you show you the diagram well the
diagram is going to be the same but I'm going to show you how to put it on the
on the mini breadboard and then after that we're going to put it on the PC
board like one of these right here we might do this one here
or we might do one I think we'll do this one right here we'll see on this
breadboard here you could run as many as 10 circuits on here as far as this one
goes like here I only did the two we ran out of time with these two on the next
video I'm going to show you how to do this and I may show you how these
transistors work to increase the brightness on here while we operate the
potentiometers on there so take a look for that coming up in the future
episodes and we'll see ya

10 DANGEROUS PLACES in CS:GO - Duration: 6:16.
In today's video, you will see 10 common places where you could easily lose hp.
Don't be like Sunny.
Hey guys, NadeKing here.
In this video, I show you some dangerous and common places in CS:GO where you could easily
lose hp.
Before we start.
I am giving away this beauty for today's video.
Just like the video, make sure you follow my Twitter and comment your Twitter account's
name into the comment section.
I will pick the winner in 3 days and as always you will see the winner from my Twitter post.
Let's start off with a spot where I myself, often lose some hp.
We are on the Overpass, CT spawn.
Now when I am playing B plus I got a decent spawn..
Sometimes I want to go aggressive B water for example and this means I want to be fast
as possible.
So, instead of using stairs like an A-grade student in school.
I want to use a shortcut.
And the times where I shortcut too hard I actually lose HP here.
As you can see this is how you can shortcut without losing HP and if I go too hard..
I lost 9 HP right now.
This 9 HP could actually win you rounds.
Alright, Nuke A bombsite.
We all know the famous moment when Sunny dropped down here and died in a crucial late round
situation against Faze.
So, even pros make those mistakes.
You don't want to jump here.
If you accidentally jump and fall you lose about 33 hp, when you just run off from here
you lose about 21 hp and there are plenty of ways to go down with 0 damage.
If you want to jump straight down from heaven, do it like this, use this yellow thing to
get no damage.
I have seen a lot of people, who miss it and lose valuable hp in the beginning of the round.
Next up Inferno.
If you push out from A apps to pit.
The safest way to drop down is to jump on this railing and then run off to pit.
Now often in the heat of the moment we jump over the railing to the pit.
If you do it from the left side you are fine.
If you land on the right side of the pit like this, you lose about 3 hp.
Also, when you are going crazy with your bhops and jump off from the railing itself you
could lose up to 12 hp.
De_Dust2 short.
Legendary drop to CT spawn.
If you do it straight down you lose 6 hp.
If you run a bit and drop you won't lose anything.
If you jump and drop things are different of course, so the maximum you could lose
is about 20hp.
My suggestion is wherever you want to drop down without losing hp, better don't jump.
De_Train B bombsite.
This place has also had some pro victims.
If you are pushing to the B bombsite you want to face your enemies so you don't really
want to climb the ladder like this.
Safe way to go down here is to run and land on this wooden thingy.
You can also jump on top of it.
But yea, many people lose hp by falling down from here.
The maximum damage you could deal to yourself is about 27 hp.
Take care!
Cobblestone drop.
If you run down from here, nothing happens and you are safe.
Still on the eco rounds or if you have silly mood people tend to jump here.
If you jump from the left side you won't lose hp.
Although if you jump from this wooden thingy you will lose some hp.
Maximum loss I managed to deal myself was 10 hp.
Train pop dog ladder.
If someone is defending close to the ladder, again you don't want to climb the ladder
since you are very inaccurate on the ladder.
So people tend to drop down from here.
This drop deals you 5 damage.
Keep an eye on your health and if you are low, make sure you don't drop down from here.
Overpass.
Ladder.
Almost the same as Train, but there is really zero threat so you can climb this ladder as well.
To go down quicker use this wooden stand right here.
But if you make a mistake and accidentally drop down from here.
You lose approximately 10 hp.
This is a too easy mistake to make.
Train again.
If you accidentally drop down from Heaven you lose a bit more than 10 hp.
Just that you know and in some cases, it may be better to lose this 10 hp, quickly drop
down and kill someone reloading in the connector or whatever.
But if this isn't the case, you should of course try to get down without losing hp.
Whether you use a ladder or jump onto the bombsite.
The choice is yours.
And the last spot of this video.
Middle on Cobblestone.
Common spot to lose hp, if you jump down from here.
Or from the other side.
I recommend you to always run down from deep drops.. this will save you a lot of health.
Although you can even lose 2 hp when running down from here.
But it's not that much, we can still win rounds with 98 hp.
I hope you learned something new, please comment where is the most common place you tend to
always lose some of your hp.
Make sure to participate in the giveaway if you want to win new skin to your collection
and thanks for watching!
Now it's the right time to watch another video.

Things Only Adults Notice In Grease - Duration: 4:58.
Grease is an iconic movie musical that is far better and more life-changing than it
had any right to be.
It's cheesy, silly, and still manages resonate with audiences 40 years after its release.
However, as with many classics, many dated moments didn't age quite as well as others.
Here's all the things in Grease you only notice as an adult.
Too old for school
If you thought everyone in this movie looked way too old to be in high school, that's because
they were!
John Travolta, who played Danny, was the youngest at 24.
Olivia Newton-John, who played Sandy, was 30, and Stockard Channing aka Rizzo, was 34.
"I'm gonna get my kicks while I'm still young enough to get 'em!"
With child labor laws to consider, it makes sense that Hollywood tends to cast older actors
as teenagers.
But Grease feels like it's pushing that just a bit too far.
"Jan that is so adolescent" "We ARE adolescent"
Another overly mature aspect of this film?
The dialogue.
"I did that.
I did meet this one chick, she was… she was sorta cool."
"You mean she puts out?"
Nearly every line is either an innuendo, a shameless flirtation, or dirty lyrics about
a racecar.
Seriously: Watch the Greased Lightning scene again, but pay close attention to the lyrics.
"you want supreme, the chicks'll cream for greased lightning."
You'll be shocked your parents ever let you watch this when you were a kid!
A school that actually cares?
For many of us, high school was a nightmare.
But Rydell High, the fictional school in Grease, seems like a haven.
Aside from the massive carnival thrown to celebrate graduation, Rydell's staff goes
above and beyond for their students.
When Danny tries to get into sports to win Sandy's affection, Coach Calhoun refuses to
give up on him despite his lack of talent.
The shop teacher helps get Kenickie's car in gear even when there are stolen parts involved,
and then shows up at the big race to cheer for the T-Birds!
And who could forget Principal McGee and her hapless assistant Blanche, sobbing as another
senior class leaves the school?
"oh, blanche, stop blubbering"
Played by Eve Arden and Dody Goodman, this duo provide some of the biggest laughs of
the film.
"Blanche, do you have the new schedules?"
"Oh yes, Ms. McGee.
I just had my hands on them."
"Oh good, they'll be nice and smudged."
While most teen movies tend to drag in scenes when the grown ups are involved, Grease gives
two talented actresses time to shine.
Sympathy for the Rizzo
The older you get, the more you realize that Rizzo is actually the most sympathetic character
in the whole movie.
Compared to the other pink ladies, Rizzo is layered and nuanced.
She's the only girl in Grease who gets to make mistakes and learn from them.
She also gets the best songs.
In a movie loaded with backwards sexual politics, There Are Worse Things I Could Do was remarkably
ahead of its time.
On the surface, it's a heartbreaking and romantic ballad.
But at its core, it's about a woman who is afraid to be vulnerable with a man because
she's been hurt so many times before, and how she'd rather be called a tramp than actually
admit that she cares.
Unlike Sandy, Rizzo realizes she doesn't need to change anything about herself in order
to be happy.
Rock on!
Bathroom ice cream
Many of the film's biggest moments take place at The Frosty Palace, a malt shop where kids
in the 50s used to hang out.
From Frenchie's divine intervention to Rizzo throwing a shake at Kenickie, this was the
place to be.
It's also the scene of a blink and you'll miss it moment of hilarity where Rizzo strolls
out of the ladies room… holding an ice cream cone.
Rizzo clearly doesn't care what people think of her, but couldn't she have asked one of
her Pink Ladies to hold her cone while she took a bathroom break?
Aspirin in my Coke
Marty is one of Grease's most underrated, and hilarious, characters.
"Oh!
Double doo-doo!"
"What's up doc?"
"One of my diamonds fell in the macaroni!"
Her big moment comes at the school dance, when she sidles up to host Vince Fontaine.
She laughs at his bad jokes and doesn't seem to mind that he's an older man.
In short, she's smitten.
We don't find out how their night actually went until Marty drops this bombshell at the
drive-in.
"I caught Vince Fontaine trying to put aspirin in my coke at the dance."
Rizzo doesn't seem bothered that her friend almost got roofied, and it's unlikely that
any of the kids watching this movie would have understood what Marty was talking about
either.
Yikes.
A happy ending?
If there's one talking point that's gained some serious traction in since the movie's
release, it's Sandy's infamous makeover.
While some argue that Danny technically changed, too, his so-called transformation pales in
comparison to Sandy's.
"Tell me about it, stud."
It begs the question: should Danny and Sandy even be together?
After one brief summer of happiness, they spend the entire movie at each other's throats.
Eventually, Sandy perms her hair, wears some leather and takes up smoking, and she and
Danny ride away in their flying car.
If you have to change who you are to get someone to like you…
please reconsider.
Danny and Sandy are doomed, and there's just no way around it.

Cut Crease Eyeshadow Makeup Tutorial & How You Can Remove Eye Makeup Using Jojoba Oil - Duration: 5:14.
Hi everyone welcome to Satthwa's channel I am Ocean Thakur and I'm gonna be
telling you how to create this kind of cut crease I make up and how to use
jojoba oil to remove the eye makeup very easily subscribe to our channel if you
haven't shared and hit the bell button below to be notified on the future
updates. So yeah let's get started.
Firstly I will be starting with a brown pencil liner a kind of product which I will be doing a
line with all over my crease like little bit above the crease make sure that it
is fine and it is not very above the crease.
I am using the Jaclyn Hill Morphe Palette and I will be setting the whole eyeliner with the powder and make
sure that it is not very thin line but also not very thick also because we want
the crease to show
Now we will take these two shades and apply it over the top of the cut crease as a
transition.
Next I will be taking the MAC Studio Concealer in NC 20 I will be cutting
the old crease wherever I want since this is a closed kind of cut crease I
won't be flicking out the cut crease I will just make sure that it is downward
direction and the whole concealer does not stay thick it is very even and not
patchy at all before going on with the next step.
Now I will take the Touch inSOL duo which has a metallic and a glittered pot
and I will use the metallic one first because this is a wet consistency I can
use it as a base and then apply the glitter on the top you will see that the
glitter kind of very much easily stays on top of the metallic liquid eyeshadow
and that will make it very long wear and smudge proof quality.
A little bit of glitter adds a lot of oomph to the whole look so
flattering and you can wear this look in days as well at as night events
Now when I use the Inglot Gel liner 77 because this slides on smoothly over top
of any glitter and I will use an angular brush to make the thick wing now the
wing goes up to the end of the cut crease line because you don't have
to show that it is an open cut crease now I am using a brown eyeshadow on the
lower eyelid and then doing my mascara.
Now this is a final look guys after adding lashes my face makeup and some
lipstick and of course you don't have to forget your pros.
And now going on with the Jojoba oil removal. You need two cotton pads or cotton lint free tissue
you can add five to six drops on the cotton and then use it to remove one eye
makeup like this quantity is enough for one eye makeup remover and you can just
tap it on top and then take off the lashes because it will also melt the
glue very easily you can remove the eyelashes and then take off the whole
maker you will see that the whole metallic liquid eyeshadow has also moved
very easily and it also nourishes your skin because it is an pure oil and on
the second I will show you how I massage and sometimes I do this because
massaging oils onto your makeup actually helps immensely whole makeup from within
and you can take it off later now obviously you don't have to forget
your long wear lipstick removal so you can see that the lips feel very
nourished after removal because this is an oil and it will feel very moisturized
but this is how I remove my makeup and hopefully you like the video bye bye

HEARTZY AND AUTHENTIC 😄? | Wernigerode Winter ❄ - Duration: 5:50.
Run tings!
We're in Harz. The highest low mountain range in Northern Germany.
We're in Wernigerode, the Patched Heart of the Harz.
Lots of fun stuff to do here, and we'll show you right away.
Yes, and you'll see why I called it 'patched'. Gerieke wears some colourful make-up too.
"This foundation has been sponsored!" - "On fleek!"
DAY 1 Exploring Wernigerode
This used to be an old mill, I mean, it used to be a new mill, but
It has become an old mill.
There used to be a little stream here, which slowly eroded the ground
on which we stand here.
And then it started sagging here, therefore "Slanted House".
Just our luck to find a remainder of a christmas market here.
If we try our best here, everything will look slanted.
Let's have a drink here!
Tasty pancakes, crępes. This one's with apple.
But there's Nutella too. - I'll fight myself through that one.
Are you making military jokes in Germany again?
DAY 2 Brocken Mountain
Fucking cold! - Fucking Brocken.
Right, we're at the Brocken. But you can't see that!
No, because it's so fecking cold and foggy, you can't see shite!
The Brocken is the highest point in Der Harz National Park.
1141.1 metres. That 'point one' does it. [TOGETHER]: German Pünktlichkeit!
The highest point in the Harz. And now the coldest, too!
We'll be hiking back down. - See if we make it there alive.
And if you think: "Hiking in the Harz... Heartzy and authentic...!"
There's quite a few people with that same idea.
Apparently, we have chosen a somewhat more difficult trail. Less people here, too.
So, more room to enjoy the scenery.
[IN GERMAN]: "At snail speed only here."
Most people, like those over there, will go straight ahead.
But you won't see half of it then, so we'll turn right here.
A little steeper. - the Annaweg, towards some sort of stamp location.
You get a nice view over the Harz mountains, the castle, the town of Wernigerode, so
seemed nice to us. a 45-minute march.
Depends of course from where you begin. - Yeah, and the size of the steps you make.
But... that girl has such long legs, she'll be there within ten minutes.
And when all else fails, we still have that nagging Dutch Google lady. Off we pop!
[pants] yeah, there's a reason the other people went the other way.
'Cause this makes you work yourself up into a lather. We're not used to anything.
[HALF DUTCH HALF GERMAN]: Losing the Christmas kilos.
The Wernigerode stronghold holding on strong... Built in the Neuschwannstein castle style.
A beautiful fairytale castle in southern Germany.
With a view on the Brocken, which of course is covered in fog, again.
You just about can't see it. There. That's it... I think.
This is a castle from the Middle Ages. Built during the Thirty Years' War.
You may Google it yourself when that was. It was almost completely destroyed.
But they rebuilt it in Baroque style, for us to enjoy now.
So, that's what we'll do. - See you next time!
Take it easy folks, - and goodgoan!

How To Write A Deaf Character | Get To The Poynt #2 - Duration: 3:33.
(Electronic music)
Hello! So we're on episode two of Get To The Poynt,
where you ask a question and I try to answer it
as quickly and to the point as possible.
If you do have a question about deaf stuff, disability,
mental health, abuse, really anything in general,
just use the hashtag #GetToThePoynt
on Twitter, that is the only way I will see your questions.
And if you don't use the hashtag, I won't see it.
So, today's question comes from Accalia and it's:
"Dos and don'ts for writing deaf characters,
particularly as a hearing person."
I've actually gotten this question a few times.
I've had people email me about that and I'm just going to put this in a video,
because it's easier than like writing it out
a bunch of times.
I'm not really someone that's gonna be like,
"Only deaf people can write deaf characters."
I'm not really someone that will say,
"Only deaf people should write deaf characters in a book."
Although I am very pro, you know,
have deaf and disabled people tell their own stories,
and amplify those stories,
and share those stories,
but I have read a book about a deaf character
written by a hearing person, which I have really enjoyed.
What I will say is first and foremost,
probably get a deaf person to be involved in it with you.
Maybe they don't have to like write it themselves,
but at least really have a good conversation with them.
But don't just get any like random deaf person
that you find, or the only deaf person that you know.
Because not all deaf people are the same, right?
So if you are writing a mainstreamed deaf character,
find a mainstreamed deaf character.
If that person only voices,
then find someone who only voices.
If someone grew up mainstream, but they use ASL and spoken language
depending on the situation, find someone who uses both.
Or if you wanted a mainstreamed deaf character
who now uses ASL, try to find someone that fits that narrative.
Or if you're writing about someone who grew up in a deaf family,
in a deaf school, only uses ASL,
or if you are writing about someone who grew up in a deaf family,
only uses ASL, or uses mostly ASL,
went to a deaf school,
find that type of person to help you out.
Don't get someone like me to do that,
because I don't fit that narrative.
I fit more that first narrative, right?
There's also doing research on Google,
find, you know, deaf people's stories
online, in a video, written work, whatever,
and try to pull from that.
Watch other pieces, like This Close, that is on Sundance,
because that is written by Shoshannah Stern
and Josh Feldman, who are both deaf
and it's their work and it's great and you get genuine representation
and you can watch that and be comfortable knowing
that you can take the mannerisms that you see
and put that into your writing.
And that's pretty much the main thing that I can think of -
is always go right to the source and see if they can help you out.
So that's my answer.
Again, if you have a question,
make sure to go to Twitter
and use the hashtag #GetToThePoynt.
You don't necessarily have to tag me,
but it does make it easier for me to find, if you tag me.
If you don't follow me on Twitter,
you can do that @RikkiPoynter - just my name.
If you haven't already, consider being a pledge on Patreon.

Top 10 Illegal Fashion Items - Duration: 7:01.
Hello!
Welcome back to the Most Amazing corner of the internet!
I am your most amazing host Rebecca Felgate and today we are talking about fashuuuuun.
Fashion.
It's a weird concept if you really think about it… although, there are some pieces
of fashion that are so extreme they have been outlawed!
Join us as we talk about the Top 10 Illegal Fashion Items.
Before we jump into this video, I want to invite you to leave me a comment letting me
know what your favourite day to day fashion is.
Usually I enjoy wearing something brightly coloured paired with something gold!
Also please don't forget to give our video a thumbs up and be sure to check out our merch
at Most Amazing Shop.com.
OKAY banned fashion!
Lets start with an item I am wearing today – we have the humble legging!
I am fully on board with a legging, but a few places that aren't include India, some
Californian Schools and of course, United Airlines.
Leggings are okay in some areas of India, but by and large not in educational institutions
– even in the United States, in February 2015, a bill was proposed by Republican David
Moore that throw some shade at leggings for being to provocative.
Weird.
Leggings are one thing, but banning trousers is pretty ridiculous at number 9.
So, some of you may not know this – but wearing trousers was illegal in the French
capital of Paris up until as recently as 2013!
That is pretty insane!
The law banning trousers was enforced in 1799 and stayed in play for over two hundred years,
although there was briefly a loophole in the early 1900s that said a women could wear the
illegal clothing if she is, and I quote, holding a bicycle handlebar or the reins of a horse.
Riiiiight.
No one actually abided by the law since around the 1960s, so really removing it was just
a matter of formality.
We may laugh at the Parisian story, but women are still not allowed to wear trousers in
North Korea, Sudan and many other places in the middle east.
Right, so no trousers for women then.
What about skirts?
Well, they're okay so long as they're the right length… as in Uganda, the mini
skirt is outlawed.
Uganda has strict definitions as to what is decent and what is not for both male and female
clothing.
Whilst men must have well groomed short hair, women cannot wear a dress or skirt that is
above the knee.
They also aren't allowed bright coloured hair or long nails.
7 - Saggy pants What up Saggy Pants!
What is South Carolina's beef with you?
Both Republicans and democrats are currently on the warpath to get Saggy Pants banned - the
bill would make it illegal for people to expose their underwear whilst wearing trousers and
would be punishable with a 25 dollar initial fine, rising to 75 dollars for repeat offenders.
6 – Nail Polish Nail Polish is not sold in Islamic countries
because it is not halal.
Its definition as non halal comes because it acts as a barrier in pre-prayer ritual
during which followers of the faith wash their bodies.
As Muslims pray 5 times a day, it just isn't practical to wear nail varnish, which would
need to be removed ahead of prayers to make the Wudu ritual possible.
Totally understandable at number 5 we have Ivory Jewellery
Ivory is illegal in most parts of the Western World these days.
Poaching for ivory has been banned a long time, but these days governments are cracking
down on pre-existing antique ivory.
Ivory is the substance that comes from elephant tusks in was a popular fashion item in the
1800 and early 1900s.
To be honest, I would never want to wear anything that came from an elephant… it is pretty
disgusting and cruel.
Similar at number 4 – something that was the height of fashion 100 or so years back
but is now illegal in a number of countries, we have fur
Fur used to be a practical answer to staying warm, but these days we don't need it, we
have other technology to generate thermal clothing.
Of course, fur became more than just a way to stay warm; it became a fashion staple,
especially in the Hollywood Golden era; it was seen as very glamourous.
Whilst the jury is still out on vintage fur, fur production is illegal in the United Kingdom,
German, the Czech Republic, Japan, The Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland and now Norway.
Good.
Bringing it back to the slightly crazy, we have shorts at number 3
In Qatar, neither men or women can wear shorts, and whilst I personally am pro shorts, I am
at least glad that the banning of shorts is applied to both genders here….so far on
this list a lot of the illegal fashion items have been pretty heavily aimed at reducing
female options.
Qatar also wants tourists to cover up and ditch the shorts too.
They aren't the only nation to be against freeing the knee, the United Arab Emirates
will requires women to cover their arms and knees in public spaces…women though.
FREE THE KNEE.
2 – Veils Whilst religious clothing isn't exactly
the same thing as fashion items, you couldn't even wear a veil for aesthetic purposes even
if you wanted to in France, as the were made illegal in 2011 and was upheld by the European
Court of Human rights.
The move was made to encourage integration with Western values but certainly caused a
stir.
The decision from then French Prime Minister Francois Fillon was later echoed across other
European countries.
1 – Yellow Clothes In Malaysia, wearing yellow can land you in
jail.
The colour has become synonymous with an anti government movement that is fighting for democracy
and human rights.
It isn't just Malaysia other, Catalonia in Spain is has caused a stir with the colour,
which has become a symbol of the separatist movement, much to the chargrin of the Spanish
Government.
So, religious, ethical and political motivations here….. do any of you guys agree with the
bans on these items of clothing, or do you think, like me, that people should be free
to wear what they want?
Is it really the government's job to decide what clothes we wear?
Let me know your thoughts in the comments section below – be sure to tell me your
opinion on Saggy Pants!
I have been your most Amazing Host, Rebecca Felgate.
