Waching daily Mar 23 2018

today we are speaking about supernatural creatures,

typical for the japanese folklore

they're called Yokai

you can divide the word Yokai in Yo (maleficient/devil)

and Kai (disturbing manifestation)

let's start! if you're ready!

MAIKUBI

It is said that in the Kamakura Period (1185-1333), in the area of Manazuri,

Izu Peninsula, on the day of Matsuri - the local Shinto religious festival,

three drunken soldiers killed each other and their bodies, to avoid problems, where thrown into the ocean

another version, however, tells that they were gamblers, arrested and sentenced to death,

whose bodies were then thrown into the sea without giving them any funeral rites.

Their three heads, large between 50cm and 1m, appear to be frantically whirling, like they were chasing each other, in the darkness of the ocean

Flames spew from the mouth

sometimes they appear during the day and when this happens they create vortexes in the shape of the Kanji Tomoe 巴

and for this reason the places where they are spotted are called Tomoe ga Fuchi (the Abyss in the shape of Tomoe).

The Maikubi do a brief appearance in Hayao Miyazaki's movie: The Enchanted City

MIKOSHINYŪDŌ

It has the appearance of a gigantic Buddhist monk, sometimes portrayed with a very long neck while,

more recently, sometimes with three eyes.

It appears mostly on the street or on paths and its most incredible feature is that the more you look at it from below and the more it grows in stature.

He attacks without a reason, strangling people after frightening them to death, for example by jumping out with no reason

If you meet him you must immediately avoid looking at him and saying "Mikoshinyūdō mikoshita!"

which structurally means something like "I understood your plan"

Some say that there is also a female version of him, named Amanyūdō (a very hairy and long-necked giant)

while others say that Mikoshinyūdō had relations with another Yōkai, the Rokurokubi, and that from these the Yōkai known as Tōfukuzō, was born

the Shikoku is also called Takabōzu, although some say that there are two different Yōkai who collaborate for the wrongdoings

On the island of Ikinoshima, Nagasaki Prefecture, it is said that the Mikoshinyūdō is very noisy,

so when you walk the country paths and you hear a loud rustle among the bamboo canes, you have to shout immediately "Mikoshinyūdō | 三 minuta ! "

and so the Yōkai will not attack. Also in Tokushima Prefecture it is said that Mikoshinyūdō

loves to wander among the fields of hay, assailing those who linger until after sunset.

Near the city of Sanuki, Kagawa Prefecture, there is a mountain pass called Koma Ashitōghe:

here a huge Mikoshinyūdō appeared. He was so tall that he could place himself on a different mountain with each foot,

and then, whoever wanted to continue, he found himself forced to pass between his legs, being mischievously mocked by the Yōkai.

When the inhabitants of the region could no longer bear the misdeeds of Mikoshinyūdō,

they armed themselves as they could and went to drive him away by force.

From that day he did not show up. In the mountain of Chikiriyama, near Niihama, it is said that live Tanuki who,

for fun, take the appearance of Mikoshinyūdō to scare the wayfarers.

Mikoshinyūdō makes an appearance in an episode of the anime GeGeGe no Kitarō

FUTAKUCHI ONNA

The Yōkai known as Futakuchi Onna has the appearance of a young, beautiful woman a little emaciated, with long black hair.

her secret is her really strong tied hair, as this Yōkai is able to use them as if they were arts to grasp objects.

She generally uses this ability to grasp all the food that is within reach and to take it to a second mouth,

the other secret about her hair, is that they can hide her true personality and she can be portrayed as a common woman

The Futakuchi Onna has only one purpose: to eat as much as possible.

Often, in fact, she court rich men, that are too attached to money fooling them to have made a good deal getting a beautiful woman in wife, one that never asks anything, not even food.

These men will find, however, the food storage constantly emptied without being able to find signs of guilt on the woman, given its look so emaciated.

If the food should end up in the house, perhaps because the husband decides to hide it elsewhere, then it will be his downfall...

the Futakuchi Onna, in fact, has a superhuman strength and will not hesitate to eat her husband

One story tells that a long time ago there was a man so mean that he had removed the whole family from

himself and did not want to marry just because he did not have to spend more.

When he met the Futakuchi Onna, he realized that this was the perfect woman for him,

willing even to fast and never asking for anything. After marriage, however,

when the woman went to live in the rich man's house, the food storage ended up emptying as soon as the husband went out or went to sleep.

So it was that man, wanting to defend his savings, hid his food

The Futakuchi Onna, not finding it, was furious and captured her husband: she put it in a tub that they used for the bathroom and,

using it as a wheelbarrow, began to take it to the mountain, holding it tightly with the hair ..

It was during this journey that the man realized that his wife had a second hungry mouth hidden in her hair. The man, fortunately,

managed to escape and climbed high up into the trees and hid here, until the Yōkai gave up and went away, looking for more food.

The Pokémon Mawile (in Japanese Kuchiito) and its evolution MegaMawile (MegaKuchiito) resume the graphic concept of the Futakuchi Onna

Also the character Yamagishi Yukako of the manga The Bizarre Adventures of JoJo seems drawn from Futakuchi Onna,

above all for the duplicity of the character, endowed with a loving aspect as of an insanely possessive character.

BURUBURU

This Yōkai is often mistaken for a yūrei because his appearance is that of a woman, usually of short stature,

whose body trembles as shaken by a strong fever: the feature that most betrays him as a supernatural creature is his hair, too

In the past it was also called as Okubyōgami or Zozogami, but today the name Buruburu is preferred.

It infests human beings by attaching itself to the nape that immediately becomes cold:

from that moment the unfortunate will not only feel a strong cold in that part of the body, actually irremediably cold,

but also lose all the courage he had, becoming incapable of doing anything, even the most ordinary and everyday actions.

It can be found in Buruburu almost everywhere in Japan, almost always on streets.

A story of a long, long time ago tells that, one summer day, a woman began to feel cold shivers behind her neck:

she immediately thought of a cold but the temperature of her body did not get up, even seemed to go down.

Terrified she immediately called a Buddhist monk to perform an exorcism ceremony and so Buruburu came out of his body.

The Pokémon Goomy in its Japanese version is called Buruburu Numera.

The Buruburu is also the protagonist of one of the episodes of the anime GeGeGe no Kitaro.

KOSODE NO TE

In Japan it is believed that objects absorb, slowly but inexorably, the feelings of the people who use them.

Among these, a place of honor unquestionably belongs to the Kimono:

worn and loved for generations, especially in the case of women, it is believed to be one of the objects that

can most easily be influenced by the feelings of those who have worn it for a lifetime.

In the Edo Period it was customary to sell the kimonos, especially when the owner died, and so,

passing from owner to owner, it was whispered that strange things happened:

sometimes hands came out of the Kimono's sleeves (called, in fact, " kosode ").

The most famous story tells and teaches that a woman's feelings reside within the kimono. It happened that,

in a terrible fire in the city of Edo, a woman ended up dying burned.

Kimono had saved himself from her and so, the survivors, since there were no family to whom to return it,

they thought to cremate the Kimono together with the corpse.

It was then that, although on fire, this Kimono took flight and took revenge by creating more fires. He became a Yōkai.

A song by the Japanese metal band Onmyōza is called Kosode no Te.

KYŪBI NO KITSUNE

The term Kyūbi no Kitsune refers to a nine-tailed Kitsune and enormous spiritual power, so that it can destroy nations:

it is classified as one of the three most powerful Yōkai ever existed in Japan.

the Yōkai Kitsune, over the years, becomes more than a common fox: after about 100 years of life,

in fact, gains a second tail and since then is considered a real Yōkai.

This is only the first stage of its evolution: with the passing of other years and with practice in the magical arts,

it will gain more tails, thus becoming a Yako, Kiko, Tenko and Kūko.

It takes 1000 years to become Tenko and 3000 for Kūko.

The last stage is the Kyūbi, the nine-tailed Kitsune. So this is a really exceptional Yōkai.

It is seen today as an evil Yōkai, however, in the past, there were very positive representations of it

(as also happens to the Oni, Kirin and Hinotori): ancient plates show decorations in which this Kyūbi no Kitsune is portrayed in a good light.

Many think that probably there were at least two different Kitsues of this level.

The most famous legend wants the Kyūbi no Kitsune to be the protagonist of national misfortunes, not only in Japan but also in China, India and the Korean peninsula.

In China he took the place of the Emperor's partner and pushed him to punish some men with the death penalty,

so as to make him gain complete power but at the same time bring down the Empire because of his bad reign.

The Yōkai was however accused as a conspirator and was sentenced to the death penalty:

at the time of execution he was exposed to the reflection of the magic mirror (named Shōmakyō)

which shows the real aspect of what he reflects and was revealed

He managed to escape and vanished into thin air. Time later he reappeared in India, in the form of a beautiful woman, and married the Prince.

Once again using his magic and his persuasive skills, he made him subjugated and made him do wicked things,

including other death sentences designed to weaken the kingdom. Struck by a magic wand, she had to resume her true form and escape.

Then he took the form of a young beautiful girl named Wakamo and hid in a ship, through which he arrived in Japan where he called himself Tamamonomae.

With art and magic she became the servant of Emperor Toba and, when he abdicated, she planned to bring down the Japanese Empire

but a powerful Onmyōji discovered her.

The Kyūbi no Kitsune once again fled but was soon chased by brave samurai: one of them managed to hit her with an arrow and kill her.

Her body became a rock. So powerful was his evil that this stone began to infect the surrounding area, so that only approaching meant immediate death.

A large number of monks followed each other in an attempt to eradicate this great evil, but none resisted this power and could not even get close

A high-ranking monk arrived, then, who, alone, managed to disperse the miasma momentarily and, with a large hammer, hit the stone by breaking it into three pieces

two of these were hidden in unknown places, while only one remained where it was.

Even today, in the country of Nasu, Prefecture of Tochigi, you can, in fact, find the Sesshōseki, the stone that emanates toxic tossines.

五 A benign Tenko no Kitsune, named Osusuki, is worshiped as Kami (Shinto Spirit-Divinity) in the Shinto complex of Fushimi Inari Taisha, in Inari (Kyōto), in the Ichinomine Shrine.

Kurama, a nine-tailed Kitsune, is one of the most powerful characters in the story of Naruto, in the homonymous manga

but wait, it's not over yet! let's continue in the next video!

TRUST NO ONE: Five Tips to Stay Safe Online - Duration: 6:49.

Welcome to Dr. David Eifrig's Health & Wealth Bulletin.

This is Weekly Update!

This week, we're doing an audio only shoot as Winter Storm Toby has shut down our office

and kept most of us off the roads.

But that won't keep us from covering an important story.

Today we're talking about online privacy, specifically on social media.

According to Pew Research, two thirds of Americans use social media, which includes popular websites

like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

In fact, one of the demographics boasting the most growth online is the 65 and older

group.

And that's especially true for Facebook.

Facebook in particular has come under some scrutiny lately due to a revelation that during

the 2016 campaign, a data mining firm called Cambridge Analytica stole data from about

50 million Facebook users… and then they refused to delete the data.

The problem is that they accessed data from folks who agreed to give it up… but then

they took it one step further and stole information from all of the friends of those people.

The point is, nothing is safe online, including your privacy.

So we wanted to touch on a few ways to make sure you're monitoring your online presence

and keeping yourself safe.

Now, our first tip is to make sure that you use safe and unhackable passwords.

For all of your accounts, you want to make sure that your passwords are different.

Don't use the same one for every single account you have online.

Another good rule of thumb is to change them, sometimes as much as every six months.

A good way to remember this is whenever we have daylight savings – change your clocks

and change your passwords.

Now, if you have trouble remembering your passwords, we do recommend a password manager

like LastPass and we'll put a link to that in the description below.

Another option you can take advantage of is something called two-factor authentication.

This requires you to put in a password along with another piece of information.

Often they'll send you a code to your email or to your mobile device that you then have

to type in.

This is really crucial, especially for important websites like your bank account or your credit

card information.

You want to make sure it's extra secure, so if that is an option offered, you want

to go ahead and take advantage of it.

Our second tip is to be very careful about who you follow and what you let them see.

Now this is a general rule on any kind of social media platform.

Anytime you go to post something, make sure it's something you really want people to

see and it doesn't give away any identifying information.

For example, you never want to share your home address on any social media platform.

That's because even if you restrict your profile to just your friends, you never know

if those friends will be logged in somewhere where someone else can see that information.

You also want to keep an eye on who you follow because there are false accounts out there.

In fact, if you get a friend request from someone who you know is not on Facebook, you

might want to call them and make sure that they did initiate that request.

And if not, you'll have to report it to Facebook so that they know there is someone

trying to steal their identity.

This can lead to all kinds of problems, especially when they send suspicious links or anything

else that can endanger you and your online privacy.

So the key here is that if you see something suspicious, report it and always, always be

careful not to overshare on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or any of the social media platforms.

Now our third tip involves tagging and location services.

Whenever you post something from your cell phone, the smartphone GPS will go ahead and

tag your location.

Now this poses quite a problem for online privacy, but there are ways you can turn that

location tagging off.

It can get a little complicated, but you'll need to go to your settings folder on your

phone and try to find location services.

We're actually going to go ahead and post a link to a how-to guide that should walk

you through it for both an Android or an iPhone.

The other thing to keep in mind here is that you also can be tagged on Facebook not only

from yourself but also from your friends if they want to tag you in an event or if you're

with them at dinner.

Maybe you don't want people to see that.

There is an option on Facebook to go into your privacy settings and make sure that other

people are not allowed to tag you.

This gives you a lot of control over what you let people see and what you let them know

about where you are and what you're doing.

Now our fourth tip goes along with one of our earlier tips about oversharing.

The tip is very simple: and that's to post everything after the fact.

Now, the reason for this, as we've written about before, is that burglars can actually

target you based on your vacation photos.

In fact it might surprise you to know about 75% of burglars use social media in order

to find potential targets.

The reason for this is pretty simple.

If your profile says that you live in Baltimore, for instance, but you're posting vacation

photos in real time from Cancun, that means there's no one in your home and burglars

can go ahead and help themselves.

That's why it's always a good rule of thumb to post all those vacation photos after

you get home.

And that way you can still share with your friends and family from the safety of your

own house.

Along with this, similarly, don't post any identifying information.

Your profile might say you live in Baltimore, but again make sure you don't have your

home address or even your street name listed.

Anything that makes it easy to find where you live is a good thing to leave off of social

media networks.

And finally, our last tip is one that's very simple to follow.

If you see anything suspicious, don't click on it.

Now that includes emails you might get from a friend that has nothing in it except a link

to click on.

That's a sure sign that you're getting scammed, so don't click on it.

Delete it and report it to your friend right away.

Similarly, on social media you don't want to click on anything where you don't know

the source.

There's all kinds of things on there to click to go to a news story or to take a quiz.

But just keep yourself safe.

If you don't trust the sender or the person sharing the information, certainly don't

click on that link.

It's really important to remember as well that when you take a quiz on Facebook, sometimes

the questions are geared to get specific answers like your childhood pet name or the street

you grew up on.

The reason for that is because they might those answers to security questions.

Just do yourself a favor and don't answer them.

It's always better to be safe than sorry and to keep thieves from getting that information

from you.

That's it for today.

We hope these five tips will help keep you safe online and if you have any other tips

that you'd like to share with us, please keep them coming to our feedback line.

We hope to see you in person next week.

Until then, don't forget to like, share, and subscribe.

And thanks for listening.

DIRTY SIDE OF VAN LIFE - Duration: 8:29.

This has turned out to be just be...well

just An awesome morning

It's got that perfect temperature

That's the city I live in. Vancouver is awesome and a great place to call home

But that brings me to the van dwelling side of Vancouver which is massive

And I know the media's and stuff like that's kind of put a lot of stuff out there

And you read stuff on you know newspaper clippings and stuff like that

But they own, they're only talking about the van life. You can see and I've had some people make some comments on my channel about

Nasty van life in Vancouver, and how there's like litter everywhere and well

You know like there's different types of people and different types of walks of life. You know like apartment living has

Scummy people van life has scummy people

You know you only see the nasty ones because the nasty ones are the ones that catch your eye. You don't see the the

hundreds of others that are unseen I

Think a majority of van life in this world is invisible

I think a lot of us are

unnoticed and I think it would shock the media and shock the people that don't know much about van life to see the type of

People that are actually doing it if I compiled everybody

Together in one big area here in Vancouver that most of the media and everybody doesn't see

They would be shocked the type of people that are doing

van life take me for example

You know and some of the other working-class people

I've met out there that are just you know either University students living in big sprinters

or they'd be shocked to see the type of vehicles that we're living in the type of people that we are and

That we're not like lowlifes in society. I think it would shock them anyway on that note

Let's go look at some of the scummy side of Vancouver's van life

but I think this is not just here this applies freakin everywhere, so

Let's go do that

But I'm gonna enjoy this for a minute first

Okay, let's go

As

You can clearly see the problem

We're having in Vancouver is the bigger larger?

RVs and stuff like that that are broken down sitting on the side of the street and have been parked there for months on end

Like this one just parked just over there the one with a little pink stripe or on the side

I've seen that thing sitting in the same spot about three months ago for the first time

So could you imagine how long that was there before I noticed it if it's still sitting there

So I think it's that stuff is what's making it into the media

So and that's what's giving the average person who does know about van life their opinions about all of us

Does that make sense I don't think they represent us, and I don't think what they're doing is affecting us

I know some people are gonna. Tell me nope that's not right. That's gonna affect us. I don't think it is

the reason why is because

That is their lifestyle. This is my lifestyle

They're parked out in the same spot for long durations of time

Including leaving garbage outside and leaving chairs outside leaving their camping for you-know-whats sake in town

I wouldn't camp out here. I would never put my lawn chair beside my van sitting right here

I wouldn't I'd go to a park for that

But I don't think they're affecting me

because

For one I don't camp on the same spot more than one night - I never break a parking viola

Three my home is presentable and nobody knows that I'm in it so

Do I think they affect my life not at all do I think they record for the rest of us no I?

Don't I?

Think the ones that record for us are

the ones that are breaking parking bylaw is living in vehicles like this in residential streets and getting caught and

Continually doing it breaking parking bylaws or parking places that are kind of ignorant

I don't know if that's the word but parking in places that are causing a problem

That's the ones I feel like that are that may wreck it for the rest of us

But just don't park like a jerk

Park somewhere and get the hell out when you get up in the morning and go find somewhere else to spend the rest of your

Day don't sit in the same spot more than one night because it's rude

thank

Imagine parking in front of some lady's house, and she knows that you're sleeping in your van, and you stay there for three days

Don't be a dick. You know what I mean

Keep moving like I pull up to go to bed somewhere when it's dark nobody knows

I pulled up

And I'm always gone before anybody gets up in the morning so that's the freakin key to everything in van life guys is continually keep

moving

Everything's got a dark side every walk of life has a dark side

No matter what you're into or how rich you are or how poor you are

They all have a dark side so don't

Worry about these guys doing all this stuff

Because it doesn't affect me

And it doesn't affect you because our vans are awesome our vans are rad and we keep moving every day

Don't park in the same spot guys

Don't be a dick. All right well anyway

I didn't even know what this video is gonna turn out to be like

but hope you enjoyed seeing some of the nasty clothes are these sections of Vancouver and

Yeah, oh, we got a new patreon um which I think in the name off the top of my head shouldn't

Shanaya I think that's right Shania

Stoldt Stoltenberg Shania oh no and I don't have Wi-Fi right now so Shania welcome to patreon

Alright guys. Thanks for watching. Thanks for tuning in and

Well, I'll see you guys soon. I'm probably gonna be doing a live stream coming up

Yep

JESSICA JONES SEASON 2 *REVIEW* - Duration: 10:03.

So the Netflix Marvel train keeps on chugging, and now we're finally starting to get continuations

of shows other than Daredevil even though yes, honestly I would probably take Daredevil

season 3 over all of these.

Where is it Netflix?

Anyway, Jessica Jones season 1 is probably my favorite Marvel Netflix show behind Daredevil,

so I was excited to see what they'd do with season 2.

Now that it's out, let's talk about it.

*clip* And look, the show's been out for a while,

so I'm saying full spoilers.

And there are some pretty big twists and turns in this season, so yeah, you've been warned.

So, was this season as good as the first?

*sigh* well….sort of but not really.

To be honest I found parts of this season, especially towards the end, quite frustrating.

Because I loved the first 7 episodes so much and then it sort of dropped off and it was

just frustrating to watch play out.

This was incredibly similar to Luke Cage season 1 in that way.

Luke Cage I loved the first like 5 to 7 episodes, then a big twist happens and the show takes

a dramatic turn, and then the rest is ehhh not as good.

Pretty much the exact same thing happened here.

I mean the rest was good, quite good actually.

And it had some really satisfying character moments, and Kilgrave showed up, which we'll

get to, but just significantly not as good.

Let's get some structure here though.

Firstly Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, I mean the Netflix shows in general have been

pretty perfect with their casting, mostly, and this is one of the best examples.

Also just on a side note, watch any interview with Krysten Ritter in real life, she seems

nothing like Jessica Jones.

Jones is also an incredibly interesting character but also a character that could easily become

very unlikable, so props to Ritter and the writing for keeping that from happening.

The returning cast is great, Hogarth, Trish, the new additions like Oscar are pretty great.

I'll get to Jessica's mom in a bit.

The one I wanna give a special mention to though is Malcolm, I quite enjoyed him in

season 1 but I thought he was phenomenal here.

His character has a really interesting arc this season and I loved the performance.

I also love him and Jessica together, so the ending where he quits and goes to work for

Hogarth and that rival PI, I like seeing him change and getting his act together properly

but I'm gonna miss Jones and Malcolm together.

Seeing him go up against her could be fun though.

The show is well shot, everything is well made, the music is great, the writing's

pretty fantastic for the first half and some of the second.

And I gotta say, despite me not loving the second half as much, I never found this show

boring or even too long.

My biggest complaint with these Netflix Marvel shows is that they're 13 episodes when they

really could be 8 to 10, however this one, while yeah there's some stuff that could

be trimmed, I didn't really feel that.

Now full disclosure, there's a big chance that's cuz I made the choice to watch all

of these one episode a day instead of binging it in one weekend.

And I know people's experiences differ, but I gotta say it is so much better and more

enjoyable for me at least, and that's how I'm gonna be handling these shows going

forward.

The show entirely is entertaining.

I also thought it was fun to get back to this way more grounded corner of the MCU, like

yeah there are some supernatural elements but it feels more like how Marvel Netflix

originally was, there are no ancient organizations or dragon bones or magic ninja fists, and

yeah I like some of those aspects but seeing this very gritty side again was cool.

The conflicts and plot lines here are great, and I felt the show did a really good job

of balancing a lot of plot lines.

I found them all interesting and entertaining, mainly cuz the characters are so good.

The main internal conflict with Jessica, dealing with being a killer and balancing the life

of a hero and all that was particularly fascinating.

And that sort of ties into Kilgrave coming back for one episode.

I mean of course I was gonna love seeing one of the best villains in the entire MCU and

in any superhero property ever in my opinion come back, but I thought they handled it well.

They didn't bring him back fully and negate that whole big plot point of the first season,

it didn't feel super cheap or like cheating with the rules of the world.

To be honest the show was mostly good enough that I never really felt a big missing presence

from Kilgrave, but it was so much fun to see him again.

David Tennant is awesome as always, and as well as being fan service it did actually

serve a story purpose and fit into the whole conflict of her feeling like a killer.

So yeah, I loved that.

The mystery is very good, the action and special effects are few and far between, but when

they're there, yeah they're solid.

Nothing really to speak of though.

There are some very funny moments, and also some surprisingly emotional moments.

Especially with Hogarth at the end, like I wasn't crying but you just feel so bad for

her, like these people do like the worst thing to her and seeing her breakdown it was a pretty

powerful moment.

These Marvel Netflix shows sometimes have some political commentary int here, and this

one I thought handled it pretty well, with stuff like Me Too and illegal immigration.

It was interesting, wasn't too heavy handed, and fit with the story.

In terms of if it connects to the MCU or the Netflix world….not really.

There's a Rand mention, there's a Captain America toy, Foggy showing up was fun, and

the biggest one probably is the mention of the Raft, which really solidified this as

a post Civil War MCU thing.

But there aren't really any big tie ins, and I like that, I like that you know it's

in that world but it's not beating you over the head with it.

Also I continue to love Turk Barrett as like the Stan Lee of these Netflix shows, I always

smile when he pops up.

I also liked the ending where she goes back to being a PI and starts trying to have a

normal life with Oscar and Vido, that was sweet and felt like an actual good development

for her character.

Now as far as what I didn't like, let's get some small things out of the way first.

Didn't like the Whizzer in the first episode, the effect just looked so weird and campy

and cheap and maybe that was intentional but it just did not fit in this show at all.

Again though, he's there for like 5 minutes so it's not a big deal.

There are some face prosthetics that are pretty bad and look sort of hilarious and not terrifying

as they're supposed to.

The end reveal of Trish having powers felt very Spider-Man 1 and again was sort of just

more cheesy than this show really otherwise was going for, but I kinda enjoyed that.

Or at least I'm interested to see where it goes next season.

Now let's get to the big thing that kinda made this show worse for me.

Or really, it's not the reveal itself that made this worse, it's just the reveal and

then how things developed afterwards.

Now to be clear, I liked episodes 8-13, some very much so.

They're still entertaining and they're nowhere near say Inhumans or even Iron Fist.

But comparatively, they do not stack up.

So if you haven't seen it and are watching this for some reason, it's revealed that

this crazy woman with super strength who Jessica has been clashing with is actually her mother,

who didn't die in that car accident when she was a kid but actually was given powers

as well and also given insane mood swings.

And look, before that, I loved this woman as the villain.

I thought she was genuinely terrifying.

Those powers mixed with that anger mixed with the performance, I was uneasy everytime she

was ons cren.

And the reveal itself, I didn't hate, although it did kinda give me PTSD to Luke Cage.

But then afterwards, just ugh.

Firstly the next episode stops the story dead in its tracks to do a flashback episode, also

kinda like Luke Cage except I enjoyed the Luke Cage flashback episode more.

It's already annoying that the story is being halted to show us this, but I mean some

of this we need to know like about Jessica's mom and the doctor, but then there's stuff

like the origins of her leather jacket, it's like do we really need to see this?

It started to feel a bit like Wolverine Origins.

It also felt oddly more dumb and less subtle than the rest of the show, and mre cliche.Like

her mom talking to her while she's in the bathroom and Jessica having this tragic backstory

on top of her already tragic backstory of her first love who her mother killed, it gives

this a lot more kinda destiny stuff rather than just, bad things happen to this person

and now she fights crime.

And I just wasn't really a fan of that.

Then after episode 7 or so we get more of this mother storyline,a and there was some

of it that I liked and some that I didn't.

For one the actress who plays the mom is good sometimes and sometimes is a little too over

the top.

It reminded me of Daisy's dad from Agents of SHIELD, if anyone remembers this guy, it's

like sometimes hey that's pretty nuanced or terrifying and then sometimes it's like,

alright, there's a little too much scenery chewing here.

Jessica teams up with her mom at points and they start to bond more and that should be

really nice and interesting and maybe even emotional, but the thing is I didn't't like

her mom at all.

Like you're supposed to hate her and then gradually start to like hr like Jessica does

but I didn't.

With her character and the writing for her and the things she does and even sometimes

the performance, I just didn't end up liking her, which is a problem cuz a big part of

your enjoyment of those last few episodes relies on that.

So if you did end up liking her, I'm sure you enjoyed those more.

But like they team up at the end and Jessica choses to go with her mom nad it's supposed

to be like a happy and emotional and sweet moment, like ohhh she chose her mom, but the

whole time I was like, no, go back, go to Malcolm.

Character wise and just plot wise she's not as compelling, so I was just mildly annoyed

watching those scenes.

Also the finale with the hero stuff where they save this family was sort of fun but

also a bit too on the nose, especially for this show.

Like they just happen of ind this perfect happy family and then they just happen to

get into a car crash similar to Jessica's family's right afterwards.

It kinda felt like the flashback episode, where it felt way too obvious for what this

show otherwise was.

It's all still alright, but watching it I was just slightly frustrated, cuz clearly

the people involved in this show have a lot of talent and clearly they were putting effort

into this plot line, I just found it much less engaging than what was going on before.

I will say it picks up a bit at episode 10 when the mom goes to jail, there was some

stuff there that I quite liked.

And the very end with Trish shooting her mom in the head at Jessica's childhood amusement

park was a pretty good intense moment.

I know it sounds messed up, but I was kinda hoping her character would die just cuz I

really didn't want a Jessica Jones mom teamup for another entire season.

So on the whole, Jessica Jones season 2 is fantastic.

In a lot of ways it lives up to the first season, and I didn't feel it drag as I have

with some of these other shows, even the ones I like.

But how much you love this season sort of depends on how much you get behind one particular

character and the plot line that goes with her.

And personally I didn't love it as much as the rest of the show.

Still it's a well written exciting show that I would totally recommend and I'm absolutely

looking forward to seeing these characters more, whether in Defender's season 2 or Jessica

Jones season 3.

I'll give this season an 8.6/10.

SOLO WOMAN TRAVEL CHALLENGE 2017 - Ep. 09 - Sadichchha Bhandari - Eastern Nepal - Duration: 6:18.

the road...

it's the same everywhere in the hills

Namaste! I'm Sadichchha Bhandari, 20 years old.

My travel areas were Illam, Terathum, Taplejung and Dhankuta.

I had planned my travel for 14 days but i extended it to 15 days.

I live in the eastern part [of Nepal] but...

tourism is not so popular in that region.

Those who visit Illam only go to Kanyam.

Shree Antu is starting to get famous now.

So I want to promote local tourism.

One of the most memorable moments was in Taplejung...

I had to walk from Deurali

Otherwise, vehicles would go upto Chhaate dhunga or Tallo phedi

The day before I was going there, there was heavy rainfall

It was sunny on the day I went but still the vehicles were not able to go there

So I walked, and on the way...

I met an old man

and we started talking and he said he had gone there the earlier day

and he was returning that day

And he said that I was traveling at the right time because

it is difficult to travel after crossing 80 years of age.

He said that, and

I felt good. I was interacting with people

and on my way

I got a lift from a dai (brother)

The road was so slippery that we had to go chanting "Ram, Ram, Ram"

So we went chanting "Ram, Ram Ram"

We stopped sometimes, rested a bit and I reached there by interacting with him.

It was fun.

That that that that place, I walked all the way from there.

i'd say it was very challenging physically.

i had symptoms of heat stroke on the first day.

i reached Kanyam, I rode a horse

I didn't carry my bag while there

Initially in the travel, the bag is a bit heavier because of many food items

it lessens along the way so the bag gets lighter

When I reached Pathibhara, it was very cold there

and I started getting hiccups

I would have panicked because of the continued hiccups but

because we had taken wilderness first-aid training,

through that, I knew the symptoms.

That it could be a heat stroke. So I rested a while.

drank some water and calmed myself down.

That's how I reached there.

People were surprised when I told them I was traveling solo

People in the eastern region don't usually travel like that

Even in Kanyam...there was an incident

my bag got stuck in the horse saddle and got torn

It got torn so

dai brought some string and tied it for me.

"Where's your friend?", he asked. And I told him I was alone.

He was surprised and appreciated it.

He said that there should be [more challenges] like this.

That he asks his children to travel too but they don't agree.

Also in Shree Antu...

Subba Sir and Subbeni also said

that they always encourage their daughters to travel, specially because they live in such a beautiful place

But they just won't step outside the house.

That was a fun experience.

And they too...after winter they wanted to travel

They had travelled around Mechi region

And she wanted to travel in Mahakali region on foot.

When a 75 years old woman said that

I felt really good.

They inspired me even more when they said that.

And I realized that it's very inspiring to travel solo.

When interacting with people, exploring places, I wanted to travel more

I also have a target now that before the next Dashain,

places in the eastern region that I have not yet travelled

Udaypur and other places in the north...

I want to travel all those places.

From the day I filled the form for [this challenge by] NepaliTravellers,

I feel that I am a different person

I didn't used to interact with people so openly

I'm not someone who would speak with confidence

But ever since I came to know about NepaliTravellers

and from the day I got to be in contact with the team

I have opened up a lot

I feel like I can deal with any person now.

and manage any situation that comes up.

and..

Everyone should travel at least once

solo travel, I'd say.

We normally travel with family

But I'd say solo travel is compulsory.

It helps you learn about yourself.

Try exploring without knowing too much about that place or having local contacts

You do need to build contacts to be aware of certain things but

meet with people around those contacts too.

It's more fun when you don't meet with people you know well beforehand.

So, if I can do it, so can you!
