Waching daily Mar 8 2018

Hey now! Thank you for tuning in to Race Grooves and thanks again to Round 2 for

providing these for review. Here we have Racing Champions Mint and these are

going to be Racing Champions Mint the 2017 released 2 and I have two cases of

A and two cases of B Racing Champions it's another one of the brands that are

owned by or that are released underneath the Round 2 label. I didn't say that

right Round 2, they have several brands so Racing Champions Mint, it's just

another one of the brands that they release cars under and you're

definitely going to get a different flair for what these cars are.

I'm looking forward to these Johnny Lightning kind of has their own style Auto World

is another Round 2 brand and here we have Racing Champions Mint hold on

I'll make sure I close my knife sorry here we go and I accidentally said in the

Auto World unboxing video that I was looking for a gold model well Racing Champions Mint

is actually gold is there Gold Strike chase pieces so if we find one

that's gold that would be their chase piece here you have Racing Champions Mint

limited to one thousand two hundred and fifty six pieces diecast metal and

chassis authentic factory colors and here we have the 1960 Chevy Corvair hey

check out I wonder if you might have an opening trunk very cool how you like

those wheels that look pretty good and Racing Champions Mint

it'll it's looking like they might have a separate piece for the for the bumper

and the headlights it looks like a separate piece nice color interior

1958 Ford Edsel again classic wheels

check out that grille pretty awesome a little hood I'll be picking one of the

sets to open I don't know if I'll open the a set of the be said 1986 Buick

Grand National there you go this is a this is a model that I'd like

to collect under the other brands it looks fantastic here as well it's got a

license plate brake light declarations

1968 Chevy Camaro SS develop fenders nice very nice-nice color if you get a

gold strike in this one that would be that would be a fantastic one to get

1951 Studebaker Commander and that's what's nice about Round 2, they they

get they released cars and nobody else releases it gives really something cool

for the collection whitewall tires chrome hubs mmm the trunk does not open

but it looks like the hood does open and in 1953 Ford F-150 nice! got matching

hubs with the truck there's your open bed has decorations in

the back opening hood and I had to head to with this color let's see

both our Ford close-close colors but they're not exactly the same let's go

ahead and open up the other A case now this way if we have a gold chase, and

we'll be able to compare the color, no, so I'll just go through this one quicker

because come on

there you go mMmmm that's the same color. You'll know gold, it'll definitely look different

and while while these do have authentic factory colors you're gonna

know the gold one it doesn't look like an authentic factory color but if you

like chase pieces you're gonna like it

now this I believe has the same vehicles but alternate colors so the Buick Grand

National was obviously black and the other one this one's white nice tires I

like the amount of rubber it has compared to the rim

nice blue 1950 Ford Edsel nice blue the other one was like a seafoam green

this one is a blue mmm says authentic factory colors I like that Johnny Lightning how it

says the colors but I don't I don't see any indication of the color name that's

a cool feature on that other line 1958 Ford Edsel and orange check out

that extra piece they put right there for the side view mirror, rear view mirrors

very nice it does not have opening doors those are just door lanes

nice nice you get one right there on top of the hood a hood ornament the

Chevy Camaro is in red with a white hardtop

actually I don't know if it'll be a hard top or a soft top or ragtop

red-stripe wheels the Studebaker is in a forest green very very dark green and

cream or ivory for the Ford f-150 my dump method was not working good today so we're just

gonna grab a handful I'm not sure if I'm going to open up the this is version B

the first one I opened up was version A then you have 2017 release 2

Oh! there's one more left in there

yeah it's the white Grand National all right I'll be right back

Here's the sample of a gold strike like I said you can obviously tell it's gold by the way

the bases are gold as well here you have the 1968 Chevy Camaro SS and obviously

it has an opening hood red stripe wheels two-tone you got black on top I don't

know what color to call it actually kind of has a greenish hue to it champagne hue

I'm not sure what that will color the call it. taillights, love those red

stripe wheels and of course we have details on the grill let's

check out that motor how's that for details they got the air

cleaner on top it's in Chrome then the engines painted orange then your hoses

are black it looks like very nice here's a close-up of the wheels and the

interior an actual steering wheel I don't know if you've been noticing in

some of the other brands the steering wheel is just like a stump it's not even

a steering wheel so it's nice again it's nice to get a real steering wheel on

your car I'd check it out you can see gauges as well and some decorations on

the hood window trim windshield wipers yeah it's it's close to the paint color

but it has the windshield wipers as well and the base there you go detailed metal base

and yes, rubber tires check out the front end wow those are some fantastic details!

here's the 1960 Chevy Corvair again different color for the roof

tail light decorations rear engine so has an opening trunk as if we can get

in there there you go pretty cool rubber tires white striped tires mm yeah his

white around the chrome rim here's a look at the base yeah it's upside down

and of course nice details in the front as well again nice details with the

interior and on this side a separate chrome rear view mirror very nice

Here's your 1987 Buick Grand National black must have been a typical color back in

the day because everybody makes it in black so this is a pretty much a

standard color there's your details in the rear nice

rubber tires the interior is kind of a grey silver

type color it looks like they have a two-tone seats as a matter of fact I'll

have to get it closed up in a second and opening hood BAD GN for the license

plate and there's your engine looks like it's a two colors I don't know if it's

separate pieces it's probably just painted two

different colors and let's get a close-up of the seat yeah it looks like

they detailed these seats on the inside give it two toned seats

there's your authentic steering wheel no side view mirror. No side-view mirrors on either side

rubber tires you can see the tread detailed base and since Johnny

Lightning or Round 2 own several brands it has a Johnny Lightning base so you

will see some carryover from the different brands into their different lines.

the 1953 Ford F-150 has an opening hood

as well MYF100 license plate two-piece it looks

like a two-piece engine looks like a separate piece going on top of your red

engine there's your decorations on the side

nice tires were it's just a little off but looks good

I am closed I am zoomed in I'm not sure if you would notice the slight

imperfections if if it's on display here is your engine compartment or passenger

compartment it's all black hard to see can't see

anything there you go there's your steering wheel

window trim and check it out Ford the opening bed very nice let's

check out the base this is a Racing Champions base. nice rubber tires metal body

hey got a spare tire that was a surprise metal body metal base let's go ahead and

give it a spin here and it added zoomed in all that time so maybe you didn't get

perspective on its appearance

sometimes with the lights it's hard to get the color because it just kind of

lights it up really bright there's one for the Ford truck fan

Here's a classic! 1951 Studebaker Commander what a nice piece of diecast sweet

You know, some of the mass-market dollar brands totally abandoning any classic cars in

their lineups and the classic cars they do have fantasy models yeah you know I

love classic cars well not gonna see them in some of the

dollar brands anymore it does look like we have an opening

hood sure enough opening hood and it has the air cleaner on top that looks like a

separate piece now for details and the front nice tires and check out the hood

remember, this one I had a hood ornament I I do believe that is a separate piece

matter of fact I might be able to peek yes you look right there that's a

separate piece hmm so when you look at these and you say oh uh it's too

expensive what are you getting you are getting multi-piece diecast

side view mirror that's a separate piece. there's another side view

mirror tampo'd door handles mmm that grille might be a separate

piece as well let's check out the base license plate

mm I don't see one and this is a Racing Champions tool there we go

Racing Champions tooling with rubber tires metal body metal base

the 1958 Ford Edsel is also a Racing Champions casting nice detailed metal

base there's your rubber tires 1958 Ford Edsel on the base I don't even know if

that's on the base every time once again separate pieces for the side view

mirrors your hood ornament you know it opens forward but the grille is too

close there's a detailed engine but the grille is too close I can't get this to

pop open oh well there's your front yeah there's your details on the front end

and again your side view mirrors your hood ornament nice tires window trim

it does have a plastic roof but nice white interior authentic steering wheel

I might be harping on that today but it's annoying me seeing those stumps in some

of the other brands 58 EDSL so for the license plate I wonder if you could pop

this off and make it a convertible oh I see holes that's probably where it pops

in even though I can't get the hood open I love this piece this is a nice-looking car

this is going to be my picks of the litter for today yeah nice piece of diecast

Johnny Lightning they have this other line a long time ago I don't know

if they've released it in there Johnny lightning brand yet I can't remember the

name but it was a bunch of classic cars I would like to for them to release that

again or will it be a sub set in the Johnny lightning Street Freaks I'm not

sure yep these are my two picks of the litter the Edsel and the Studebaker

these are my two favorites from the batch how about you? thank you for

watching and thanks again to Round 2 for sending them for review bye bye!

what's ambient the ambient temperature just like of the air yeah accent monster

maybe the ambient temperature like - what's the ambience like in here it was

hot what's going on guys I am Matthias and welcome to another episode of ten

tech items that may waste my money because we found out that most of you do

not buy these things that I buy because I'm buying them for you so I can waste

my money instead of you Tanner has picked out 10 items that he deems could

either be tasteful or wasteful but I will be that deciding factor okay

first item emergency power USB hand crank crank

SOS phone charger camping backpack okay so I think the idea here is that if your

phone dies and you're all your other batteries die this will always charge

your phone right you'll always have your phone but how fast could it possibly

charge it may be enough to the point where it'll get a call off or maybe

someone will just be doing this in the background while you're on the phone you

know if you got a long enough cable if you don't have a long enough cable it's

just like you're like shut up shut up stop it and then stop and then dies I

think the slower you crank the less you know the less power you can give 22

product rating is four out of five stars - people view this per hour it's like my

vlog Channel I'm just kidding my vlog channels right there I get hundreds of

thousands of these not mailing - though I don't need views I get views I'm a

byte now there you go dude look at this thing dude why is it sealed

though important crank clockwise oh it probably just doesn't generate

electricity it's probably just negative energy just

takes all the juice out of your phone Oh what what is this this is not what the

picture looked like I feel so the idea of this is that you crank it walk wise

and you plug your phone into that what is this though oh this is an old product

that we tested before this is gonna verify that if it gives us power they

included that with it dang show that it can also be

oh you see that did nope I'll watch let's see if we can do it really slow

yeah see see how it supplies less power as I'm doing it slower it didn't sound

like that before no before I started clink clink before I started cranking

counterclockwise counterclockwise cranking say that five times faster

clockwise cranking counterclockwise to

type it five times faster in the comments all right let's see if I can

get my phone charging right now let's see what this does this thing keeps

getting caught in the way dude I think we broke it going

counterclockwise I totally broke it yeah counterclockwise there right important

not to go the other way well that's a wasteful I mean I did go the opposite

way but come on I went like three turns

it didn't even provide power when it was working though I wasn't working I tell

you that sound wasn't there before but if the light was lighting up but now it

doesn't even light up the cranks too hard - story of my life next product oh

I get it because of heart you're like trying to find out what it means no

actually I was lost in thought no can you imagine can you imagine melting

clock can you imagine a melting clock I don't have to it's right there hey you

work of art that tells you the time brother horribly though can you imagine

the future of fun it's not this I can tell you that can you imagine how much

fun you'll have when you watch the clock and you imagine watching a clock I'm

having so much fun watching time go by at the cars surreal quartz Shelf clock

artistic conversation piece simply place on shelf or mantel no mounting hardware

required look at this what do you mean you've never seen Roman numerals before

where are all those signs dude what is that ancient alien hieroglyphics I have

the perfect place for it then when they said on it just crushes slightly be like

dude you so have you just broke time it's not even a joke that doesn't make

sense a bit how could you break time now why are you already rewrite this joke

the black holes have anything to do with time yeah so how could you break a black

hole dude you just sat on that clock and you made a black hole not to mention you

sound on it with your black hole there you go that's it and black is in dark

because not a lot of light gets to it Kabu Kabu kiya Star Wars The Force

awakens kylo Ren light-up chopsticks trying to say like chalk sticks from the

hit film bun and functional use alongside other Star Wars kitchenware

items dude I like using chopsticks no place will ever give me chopsticks you

ever noticed that when you're white they don't give you chopsticks they give you

Forks really yeah hundred percent Oh exactly you have to ask my wife who's

Asian never has to ask they just gave it to her literally in the same table

they'll give me a fork and her chopsticks stop like every place I've

ever gone to a semester and I'm like come on I speak the Asian just like that

I'm like why you gave me chopsticks oh they bring you another Fork

bring me another point they're like AHA look if you look at it there's just four

tiny chopsticks on it and I'm like good no I keep eating no that's not what

happens but they do give me that trouble at the car I got you some neuter dude

that's offensive to my wife chopsticks no the way you said noodles I'm gonna

tell my wife you said this you can watch the video this is how I say are

you asking to be neutered I can call a doctor and they'll new to you I'm too

young for that the way you say that makes me think you

should be how do I ignite the blade maybe then okay so then oh it turned out

dead already well there you go isn't Chipotle a

Mexican spice yes okay what is with the horrible abomination of Asian and

Mexican cuisine all in one you gotta know this is emitted by a white person

yeah Chipotle flavor that chipotle chicken some white person was like yeah

that'll be good I mean it's working it the only issue is why would chopsticks

are a little bit better is because they have a little bit more grip these as you

can see are slipping right off you know anything I'm probably doing it wrong too

cuz this is why they don't give me chopsticks I like the light saber esque

part I think this works better is just like a little mini prop you know like

when you get super mad but you don't want to break a lot of stuff yeah so

I'll say wasteful sadly but it's cool it's a prop but that's about it

so I'll use it as a problem and now it stopped working again these things stink

dude they're like getting jammed and stuff they're not supposed to do that

this one doesn't even work at all yeah but no this is definitely a wasteful

back hair shaver man groomer ultimate flex head body a power trimmer so we got

this cup for Conor didn't we yes awesome I've always wanted a role-plays his mom

no see that doesn't work because this is a self back trimmer you can role plays

his mom with a regular one yeah so I

can't do this what I'm sorry like he goes from behind him why is an imam from

behind no no no well yeah just cuz he loves his mom okay mom hug your mom from

the front don't hug your mom from behind I just see kind of relationship with

your mother do you have the car dude get this bit over with boom there we go so

here's what we're gonna do we're going to open this up how does this work oh

it's just supposed to lock like that

that'll show strong that'll cut corners there for sure okay let's go give Connor

his new gifts hey guys don't don't don't fret but I'm going to turn on your life

I wouldn't do it near the computers right see these computers these are

beautiful computers subscribe to dude it's hardcore too for you thick hair

that's a that's a chainsaw that's into back like actually it's cut up I want to

know because that'd be cool he want he's gonna show up one of these

days are like a streak to the top of his head 3m precise mouse pad with

repositionable adhesive backing and battery saving design Henry's saving

design okay what is this so you can keep it portable on the go or something like

that because I'm pretty sure if that's not gonna be the place that you put your

mouse pad on the top of your laptop imagine like you just start using your

mouse and you're just like where's my screams now I assume it's like the peel

and stick where you can like stick it onto something else battery saving

design are they are they saying that this particular pattern enhances the

quality of the laser of the bottom of your mouse and potentially even the

battery consumption battery saving design extends battery life of wireless

mice where's this claim coming from though okay it's somewhere in here but I

don't know if I want to read it oh oh precise mouse pad enhanced the precision

of the optical mice at fast speeds and also extends battery life wireless mice

up to 50% why they need a proper surface to work on to reduce the loss of signal

and skipping errors so mice deals with skipping errors and they're claiming

that's what leads to the consumption of a mouse battery lab testing showed the

optical mice from leading manufacturers drew less current when using this mouse

pad okay maybe because it can detect where it's

moving a little bit better Add to Cart stores on the back of your notebook

extends battery life 15% 15 15% guys look you see it 15 all the people

clicking and thinking they're getting actual product reviews it's like who is

this guys how did you get so many views with these product reviews I'm like it

doesn't really work that great upside down D minus 11 that's my rate yeah

let's see if I can put it on my screen and use it yeah I can I put it on the

top of my screen but then again it blocks your screen you can even use my

face to mouse around on oh yeah works way better yeah right by

it I think it's the best use of my face really honestly it didn't - okay I'll

save tasteful before we get into the next product big shout out to Amanda for

clicking that notification bell icon and commenting down within the first 30

minutes thank you very much here's a shout out for you next product smart

thermometer dolphin thermo capsule non-contact skin okay so maybe this is

one of those capsules that you swallow and you can internally take your

temperature you know I'm saying maybe I have kind of nervous about for someone

to be honest you're gonna take your temperature internally I mean it's

better than a rectal thermometer isn't it still kind of a rectal thermometer

yeah I guess cuz you got to poop it out yeah I don't think you're supposed to

eat this the body temperature of kids and adults object's temperature of baby

milk alarm for smartphone what how you tell the temperature front alarm oh

there's a sensor there's the body here's the cover here's the logo right here

guys but it's where there's no logo here Jack

that's how we take our temperature also can measure temperature of metal plastic

wood water glass ambient wine you read that as ambient why ambient what's

ambient the ambient temperature just like of the air yeah accent monster

maybe the ambient temperature like - what's the ambience like in here it was

hot baby milk yeah baby milk how are you

gonna just casually get the temperature of baby milk what do you mean you look

at it dad usually you test it with your elbow wait what no no you do I'm not I

go do not elbow is right test baby milk with elbow the most sensitive part

inside of your wrist not your elbow let's say your elbows actually senses

but I know Add to Cart all right here we go guys this is all gonna happen right

now all right Tanner open your mouth Wow the

giant pill it's like a finger Oh Oh guys I don't have a headphone jack because

I'm an elitist okay so we're gonna use a dongle guys have you ever heard of these

things and it's not the thing inside your pants okay thermo capsule open

okay please open the capsule press the button to start the measurement okay

that's 34 degrees I'm dead oh okay let's just change that to Fahrenheit for us

American folk 94 degrees yeah that's that's not great but it evidently for

this baby it's great a little bit closer 97.3 wow it was good no matter what I

think 94 degrees is not good no the issue with this is that there's a lot of

room for user error I'm sure you can get to it to make it take accurate readings

but parents are negligent and they might take four readings which might give them

incorrect data which might say that their their baby's fine I must say

that's wasteful just be normal and get a rectal thermometer okay merge cube a

name of that is not great hold holograms in your hand with award-winning AR toy

for kids iOS Android phone okay so this kids are

doing these days dude just come play with a stick I can't have fun enjoy have

emerged you mom literally needs like a thousand dollar device strapped to their

head to play with like a plastic little cube like use your imagination what's

wrong with imagination these days I think kids have imaginations no matter

what yeah if you're not a great parent and you use like your phone as like a

device for them to just use up all their time rather than to force their

imagination you know anything because like for instance Minecrafts out there

and it's letting kids be crazy a phone or a computer is not a bad thing

it's basically how you use it right utility parallels with curiata me I

think anything that fits in that realm it's gonna 11 work yes so this I don't

know I can't say anything about it yet let's say we buy toys for Luna doesn't

really care she'd much rather like go and grab something that's ours off the

shelf or you know like find a rock and play with that yeah so maybe if you can

make things with it I don't know Add to Cart hit me with that oh okay I think

it's a cool idea the first holographic object you can

hold in the palm of your hand use your phone

holographic play touch and play with the Holograms the only issue with like this

kind of stuff is that like you have to be looking through your phone and it's

like that's not a fun way to live your life it's like one thing to be looking

at your phone but now you're looking at life through your phone the dangerous

precedent to be set it says get started merge cube calm activation code oh I

just gave everyone my activation code so evidently there's three apps right here

I can choose any one of these three oh it's soft there's more than 300 okay so

you just downloaded eat these they went lower than it okay you see this

interesting so it keeps telling me to put it back up like this okay so do i

press it no I can't press it on here because there's no like green screen but

I have to click start on here I sent round starts in three two one what are

we doing go disconnect all of the green wires okay green I still have to PI have

to aim at it with the foam I actually I have no idea what's happening right now

how do I disconnect this green wire that'd be better if you would be able to

interact with the actual cube instead of having to interact through the phone I

think you'd be able to do it let's say you made this like a bright green cube

then the phone would be able to potentially key in real time not key

frame but key out chroma key so I mean it's possible and that's what I wish

they would have done but I'm stuck on this so I'm just gonna Oh ready oh my

gosh why did it countdown and then ask me to say ready are you ready ready so

this is dumb too I have to lick I have to literally go over here and click the

phone okay so now I'm ready now I'm gonna just come on dude what you're

doing dog oh I did I already disconnected it so I go back where did

it go oh it's still not disconnected there's two sides to this task complete

okay round two starting in one two three go

but then it says ready threw me off activate all the number two

switches enter the sequence seven five one on the keypad number five keypad

number five oh just literally gave it seven but okay

next app okay so what's this what's happening here

okay so there's like different things I can do in here so that's kind of cool so

let's see a hollow body whoa so you can kind of like hold a heart in

your hand like if you're a big fan of Indiana Jones or if you're single and

then you can kind of like see every part of it and then if not you can click the

little back oh there's a skull that's interesting creeps me out it's like it's

talking to us ah you suck okay so let's look at something else now let's look at

a castle oh now that's cool I don't know why but that seems like way cooler to me

the only issue is I really wish it did key out your fingers I wish it did key

out your fingers because that would make it look way cooler

isn't that cool cube my god oh wait what's happening in there Oh fireworks

look at that at the top of it yeah so it's a really interesting like little

novelty item it's kind of hard to do everything it probably be easier if you

were wearing it but then it'd be like a less interesting experience I feel like

it is very interesting to kind of meld these two technologies together you know

and it does a really well decent job of tracking sometimes it falls in and out

but you know what can you expect I think it's pretty cool it looks very

interesting but I'll give it a tasteful but still go play with some rocks be

kids you don't need these things to be happy luck star remote control centipede

Oh we had a remote control snake once and this actually looks more creepy old

if the legs move them out I mean do that I don't like those I'm done dude edge

guard oh that's so big so it doesn't look like the legs move it'll probably

look enough like it's moving turn the wheels when it is still don't turn the

wheels do not do something in a racism primarily says doh

but I didn't read gnome for some reason you never do

brilliant before I started a great fantastic job my buzz how to be holy

that will trigger some people yeah that's scary from top down okay it

actually is scary it doesn't feel like it's really waving yeah it's on carpet

do you think we'll be able to get some people but yeah

however some let's do it people hate bugs hey what you doing in here did well

not anymore I'm really nervous now any time you're walking with a camera here

why

that's disgusting I'm just gonna say one thing when I was a kid those things used

to scare there was I mean he's stuck okay I dragon memory card reader

two-in-one Apple lightning cable adapter data sink okay interesting so it's just

a cable that reads like a micro USB oh I get it I get it I can use a long cable

for it why couldn't you just put this part into that part I think it's also a

USB two in one maybe that's why it's a two in one alright let's try it out Add

to Cart okay here we go I assume you put that in there for me

yes there we go alright so really it makes it look like it's way longer when

they do that but really it's just that okay yeah so it is a USB but it's also a

memory card reader see that dude boom not bad okay so now I plug in my phone

to it and we find out what is on this device says I USB is not connected you

why maybe I put it in wrong nope it's in there it just connected immediately its

system information test footage I'm afraid or what I'm gonna find on here

oh this is old footage it looks at vintage it cool I mean it works one

final test see if it charges it's charging there you go

will help people realize that so maybe they'll throw it away what they still

bought it I get you I get you right here it says 99 years 11 months dude mine

says anything more than 10 years I'm feeling blessed

yeah did you eat you eat garbage dude okay so I can adjust it so the local

time is what it's 11 or 2 years months days ok so I can change this how do I do

it more accurately because I don't want to just put in one day dude I don't want

to just put in 7 days left to live I don't want to be that guy but that might

be all you have left

so what's the algorithm I thought they said they had an algorithm wait in here

guys in here it says life expectancy by country and gender I mean this is all

based on data so it's not like they're just suggesting that yeah but it's not

like it's true yeah well data shows you truths my friend in the United States

male 76 female 81 which is really high compared ibly to all the other numbers

that I'm seeing a Republic of Congo 57 and 59 Qatar 83 and 81 men lived longer

I'm moving there dude they're moving a guitar yeah once I hit 76 five more

years out of my life guitar people have three years longer in

United Kingdom there's not as much pressure to succeed in America

everyone's gonna dream I'm 29 right now so I have 47 years left how does that

make you feel bad 47 years that feels pretty good I can do a lot in 47 years I

mean the last tenor and pretty much you sit on a couch true no I can still right

there I mean what I mean as far as the exact details go I don't know if that

matters too much but there you go for me 47 years left that's it right there

47 years left if I start actually caring I don't eat great are you better than

you but I don't eat great that's the kind of guy to order a crispy chicken

tender salad but only no I hate the recipe yes I did he goes there he's like

can I get this out no I thought that dude you literally got a 22 ounce beer

yeah cuz I crushed it what you mean I'm office of myself yeah you ready all

right fine I'm gonna get the no I'm still gonna get crispy chicken there's

some things in life that just they matter a little bit more if I live one

year less so I get to eat whatever I want I would make that I would make that

game under purse but it's usually not that it's usually like 30 40 years less

that's the interesting idea that I'm gonna just like put this on my desk one

day it's just gonna go from 47 to 46 I'm gonna be like oh shoot this wait till it

goes from 10:00 to 9:00 and three two all right guys this is

tasteful this right here is waterproof fire ten things found at Walmart no joke

it was actually waterproof fired not even kidding not even click bidding you

at all right there so click that pretty crazy this right here's a video that

YouTube thinks you specifically will enjoy if you're new here also subscribe

because I'd like to see you from here more often despite the size of my beard

alright high five

Theremin Simulators -- App All Knight - Duration: 7:33.

Hey I'm Jake and toknight we're doing something a little different.

So, before we begin pour yourself a nice big cup of coffee or caffeinated beverage of choice

because we're about to be APP ALL KNIGHT.

If you follow Michael on twitter you might have seen him use a Theremin

He's actually playing it

When you play the theremin, one of your hands controls pitch and the other controls volume.

Without touching anything, your hands modulate how much charge is dumped by the instruments capacitors.

A capacitor stores potential energy in an electric field by using two conductive plates

separated by air or any other non-conductive material.

Each of a theremin's antenna only have one of needed plates so guess where the others are?

That's right, your hands!

Changing how near or far your hands are from each antenna changes the

respective capacitor's charges and thus, the sound.

The theremin was invented by Leon Theremin in 1920.

He originally called it an "Etherphone," but eventually it was given his name instead.

It gained a lot of popularity after being used in a ton of science fiction movies

And also in the Beach Boys song Good Vibrations that goes like: oooeeooooo

The concept of electrical impulses used

to create pitch eventually led to the synthesizers we know and love today.

So in this episode we're going to be focusing on theremins

But all these apps are for iPhone. We will link to ones down there for android

as well

Let's start with a simple one: Theremin Pro.

This app doesn't actually simulate the playing a theremin, but it gives a very

intuitive way of recreating the sounds.

Up and down changes the volume, and left and right changes the pitch.

Easy right?

Maybe a little too easy.

Let's go into another one that takes it to the max with Therimax

Theremax can use both the touch screen and your front facing camera.

This app is nice because it actually shows the name of the notes you're playing as

you play them.

That is pure romance right there.

Speaking of which, I know I say this a lot, but I really do appreciate you.

It must be your magnetic personality, but how can you tell if something will be attracted

to a magnet?

Well, you need a magnet.

Let's go find one- oh wait, there's one in the phone right now!

Up in the top right corner of an iphone and in the center for android phones, is the Magnetometer.

A magnetometer is a specially designed electromagnet that is usually used in electronic compasses

to read the earth's magnetic field.

That's all really interesting, but can we make music with it?

This app, just called, well, Theremin, uses all the sensors in your phone to do just that.

Turning on one of the three axes for each of these sensors will allow you to tilt, shake,

and magnetize to make crazy soundscapes.

Going back to the magnetometer, you can use both magnets and magnetic metals

You can use anything from a hairclip to a fridge magnet, which I have right here

(oohs and ahhs)

Isn't that wild? And it is more accurate to what a theremin is actually like, which creates its own electromagnetic

That you then disrupt with your hand.

The other sensors will change the pitch in different ways.

The accelerometer will change tones depending on which way you tilt your phone, and the

gyroscope will change depending on the speed that the phone is moving.

You can use the x and y axes on the touch screen itself to add even more sounds.

Let's see what it all sounds like together.

Oh let me get out my magnet, one second

Oh, that's like the new Drake song. Gonna be the smash hit of the summer. How do I stop this?

Now we get to our final Theremin app. This one's actually my favorite,

but it does cost money so the other free ones are good choices

This one (which is also called theremin) uses your phones flashlight rather

than magnetics.

The app uses the camera to measure the light reflected off your hand to change the note.

What's fun about this one is that if you cover up the flashlight you can point it at

other light sources to change the pitch.

Like the wall, or the sun, or even THIS VIDEO you sneaky little DONGer

This one's a bit more musical than the others, as you can set it to "autotune" to a certain

scale which you can customize.

You can also change the sounds and effects to create something a little more fun than

just a bunch of bleeps and bloops like some kinda robot.

Let me give you a quick little example

Woah

But then you can do other things like up the vibrato.

Pretty neat. The harmony can change. Let's bring it up a few octaves. Oh, maybe I'll bring it down a few octaves.

Oh that does sound spooky.

Before you begin Theremining around and sharing your wonderful compositions with the world

I would highly recommend one more app, which is the sponsor of this episode: Audible

You've probably heard of Audible, they have a giant, massive library of audiobooks

And one that I really liked recently called The Terror

And the Terror is a very interesting book. It's a historical fiction book

About the expedition in 1845 of the HMS Erebus and the HMS Terror

That went to discover the northwest passage

And as you might know they never made it, they never came back

That was the last time anyone heard of them

So this book is about what happened. Obviously it's a fictional telling, we don't really know

But it's from the perspective of the crew and the captains about what actually went down

In the ice and the snow, but there's a twist.

And that is that there's a monster tracking them down. It's really really cool.

And actually what I think is most interesting is the fact that

we didn't even find the ships until about 160 years later

That's when we discovered where they actually were.

It's really cool there's cannibalism all this fun stuff. It's an incredible book

and if you sign up using the link in the description below, audible.com/appallknight

you'll get one free audiobook with a 30-day trial.

So I would highly recommend The Terror if you want and you can also text the url or appallknight

to 500-500. Again that's Audible.com/appallknight

Again that's audible.com/appallknight one free audiobook and a 30 day trial.

The Terror is really fantastic. It's kinda graphic there's a lot of violence, so I'd recommend keeping that in mind.

Ok I hope you enjoy Theremins, I hope you enjoy Audible

and I enjoy spending this time with you. And that face. Ah what a face.

Let's just, let's just look at that face. Imagine that I'm gonna be a Theremin.

Weeeeooooooo. That's the sound that happens when I look at you. And as always

Thanks for watching.

Motor Club of America|MCA Reps Quit|MCA Associate Tells All - Duration: 11:50.

hey it's Candace with Kings prosper Network and Motor Club of America so

today you all I want to talk to you about why people are quitting Motor Club

of America we have people that are just dropping like flies

why is that so watch this intro and we will discuss why people are quitting MCA

okay guys let's do this I would love for us to discuss why people are quitting

Motor Club of America all right now people they get started MCA they get in with

their Motor Club of America business and next thing you know they quit MCA

why so that's what we're gonna discuss I believe that the first reason is that

they are afraid of what other people are saying to them there are a lot of

skeptics out there there are a lot of naysayers out there there are a lot of

people that do not want to see you be successful or they think that that MCA

is a scam and they let those people's opinions cloud their thinking and so

they give up before they even give themselves a chance so my question is if

someone is skeptical that this is real or that you're really going to earn an MCA

income or that you will be successful what you need to do is you have got to

get this ingrained into your MCA head that their opinions do not pay your bills

what you need to do is say hey so give yourself a high five high five yourself

okay because taking your career into your own hands is a huge huge

accomplishment the second thing is is people start and they don't know what to

do or they don't get that support that they need from their sponsor this you've

got to realize guys when you start with Motor Club of America this is your

business just like my Motor Club of America business that's my business you

have to think of it as a small business as your very own company okay your

sponsor is not responsible for your success you are responsible for your

success Eric worry I'm not sure if you are

familiar with him but he is a long-term network marketing professional and he

wrote a GoPro awesome book if you haven't read that pick it up but he says

that you need to say goodbye to your upline when you start your own network

marketing business so don't rely on your upline now there are plenty of good

sponsors out there and I think God every single day that I have a sponsor who

pours into her team but not everybody is like that okay so if you've joined and

you don't have a sponsor that's providing you training then what you

need to do is you need to work on your personal development you know you need

to get books that will teach you how to market effectively look at YouTube

videos that would teach you how to market effectively look for other

resources that are going to get you the skills that you need you can also look

at other people that are in Motor Club of America follow them on social media

see what they are doing and do what they're doing I want to throw out there

that if you have joined Motor Club of America and you're not sure where to go

or what to do when you need assistance you can use our online marketing tool

for free at this very moment I'm not sure if it will stay free because my

sponsor did spend thousands of dollars in creating this online marketing tool

but it will help you tremendously so the link will be down there below if you

want to use our online marketing tool you'll still get paid for your

commissions with Motor Club of America but that is a resource that you can use

and Google Google's out there so Google different resources and get the skills

that you need to make your business successful don't say you can't do it

because you don't have a sponsor helping you

okay because ultimately in the end your success is based upon you and your

efforts another reason why people are quitting is they're not using the

services that are provided they don't get the benefits okay now let me ask you

something would you buy from someone who isn't

using the product or service say you wanted to go and get skincare okay

that's just I saw my face and I'm like skincare say you want to go get some

some really nice you know stuff to wash your face and moisturize your face and

you find somebody that is offering that kind of a product and it's like supposed

to be the best stuff out there and then you find out that they don't use that

product how likely are you to buy that skincare line from that particular

person probably not very likely right so that's why it's very important that you

are using the benefits that Motor Club of America provides I mean everybody's

gonna break down at least once in their life you know and if you don't have a

newer vehicle you would probably be a great testimony to use their services I

use their services I haven't had to use the roadside assistance services yet

knock on wood but I've used them for the the benefits

again the eyeglasses that's the only thing that I've used so far but it saved

me so much money and you know what I can tell people about that I can say hey I

use these services and look how much money I save so when you are using the

services that are provided by Motor Club of America you become more believable

more genuine and able to testify to the value of the services that are offered

now another reason why people are quitting their Motor Club of America

if they come in to this business thinking oh my gosh I'm gonna make

$10,000 in one month I'm sorry that's unrealistic you guys

you don't start a business and start earning that kind of income boom

overnight ok this is your company how many new companies start out okay how

many start out and are generating huge amounts of income as soon as they come

running out the gate not very many so what you need to do is is make your goal

more realistic you know be realistic in your expectations because this business

requires a long term strategy in order to get that kind of income ok because

you have to build a team you have to keep that team and you have to develop a

sustainable business that is going to stand the test of time so realistically

to start generating a full-time income I mean a serious full-time income where

I'm talking at least 60 to $100,000 a year that could take you realistically 1

to 3 years but if you also look at it in the long term honestly that's not a

whole huge chunk of your life to start earning income like that so just get

real with yourself and don't expect that this is some gonna be some kind of an

overnight sensation it doesn't work that way alright so get real alright now I

want to tell you I heard this saying before and I'm not sure who said it so I

can't attribute the person who said it but they said and

so true I have never met a network marketing failure only a network

marketing quitter okay we fall we get back up we keep going stay consistent

stay with this so what you need to do is you need to give your business a real

chance you guys don't quit within the first month or two or three give your

business a solid year of consistent effort okay work on your personal

development there are so many motivational books and videos out there

that you can watch on on YouTube I'm actually going to do another video this

week going over some of those motivational books and videos that can

really transform your mindset into one of success and positivity another thing

that you need to do is learn the skills that you need okay you need to learn how

to speak to people you need to learn how to have the right mindset you need to

learn how to market effectively and know how to market on social media now the

the Wi-Fi wealth tool that we have the link is down there will help you do that

as well okay and that is free for you to use and another thing is is you have to

set realistic expectations and once you do those things it's gonna happen so too

many people in my opinion quit their MCA business before they've even given it a

chance and I'm not doing that I tripled my sales in February alone

just because I was following these steps that we just discussed and I'm only

going to go up up up from here you guys so I hope that you found some value in

this please like this video comment down there ask me question if you want

I'm I'm an open book you guys and if you have not already subscribed to my

channel just click the little crown there in the corner and you're

subscribed so I'll be seeing you guys on the next video and have a great day

Instagram Hashtags: The Ultimate Guide! [2018] - Duration: 5:09.

When you hear 'Instagram', you might think that it's just an app that you can use to

share pictures and videos with your friends.

But as an entrepreneur, it's a powerful platform that offers a HUGE opportunity to

help grow your ecommerce business.

If your business already has an Instagram account, but it's not driving sales, it's

time to revisit that strategy.

And today, we're going to show you how to utilize a secret weapon – carefully curated

hashtags.

Hey guys, it's Jessica Guzik here with Oberlo, and today I'm going to be talking about

Instagram hashtags, what they are, and how you can find the best hashtags for your content.

You ready?

Let's go!

[Title Card - What is an Instagram Hashtag]

Before we dive into the nitty gritty of using Instagram hashtags to grow your brand's

reach, let's quickly cover what they actually are.

A hashtag is a singular word, or phrase, with a hash symbol in front.

If you're a frequent social media user, you've likely already seen them in action,

but if you aren't, they usually look something like this…

Jessica pointing to an animation of #Oberlo on screen.

So, what's the point in using a hashtag?

Well if you post a picture or video on Instagram without a hashtag you're only talking to

your existing audience.

But you probably want your posts to reach the largest audience possible - and THAT's

why you need to add relevant hashtags to every single Instgram post.

Hashtags will open up your content, and your brand, to tons of new, engaged users to like

your content, follow your account, and potentially even purchase something from your store!

If you don't add any hashtags to your content, you'll be relying on your existing following

to engage with your new post.

This isn't as much of an issue if you already have a huge following.

But if you're just getting started on Instagram, it's likely that your content won't have

a large reach, and you might struggle to achieve any decent results.

[Title Card - How to Find the Best Instagram Hashtags]

Now that I've explained how Instagram hashtags can help you to generate more likes, more

followers, and ultimately more sales, I'll show you how you can find the best hashtags

for your brand.

It's super important to understand that the hashtags you use HAVE to be relevant.

If you sell backpacks, hashtags about unicorns and candy canes aren't going to bring you

the right kind of attention.

Thankfully, there are a couple of online tools which you can use to curate a list of hashtags

that are perfect for your business.

My favorites are TagBlender, Instagram Tags, and Seekmetrics.

Each of these tools are free, easy to use, and they're great for finding lists of hashtags.

We've left links to each tool in the description below – check them out and let us know what

you think in the comments.

[Title Card - Instagram Hashtag Limit]

OK, so now that you're convinced that Hashtags are important, and you've even found a few

to test out… there's one thing to keep in mind: DONT OVER DO IT.

A lot of people get carried away with hashtags and want to put hundreds, even thousands of

hashtags on each Instagram post.

Sorry guys, there's a limit of 30 hashtags per post.

Instagram doesn't just put this rule in place to be jerks - they want to ensure that

hashtags aren't taken advantage of and the content on Instagram is relevant to its users.

At first, 30 hashtags might seem like a lot, and you might feel like you won't need that

many hashtags.

However, I do recommend that you take full advantage of the full 30 hashtags that you're

allowed to use.

Remember, every hashtag that you add, gives you an opportunity to draw in more engaged

users to your content.

[Title Card - Measuring Your Progress]

As with all marketing activities, it's important that you can measure the success of the hashtags

you use.

If you analyze the performance of the hashtags, you'll be able to validate your choices

with data, and it's always a good idea to be data-informed.

You'll also be able to identify any hashtags which aren't performing well, which can

help you to improve your future content by removing the poor performers.

There are tons of tools which you can use to analyze the performance of your Instagram

content.

Try SumAll, Simple Measured, and Icono square - they're all great places to start, and

they're free!

These tools will analyze the average number of likes and comments which you receive using

different Instagram hashtags.

I put links in the description below - check them out if you're interested.

[Title Card - Instagram Top Tips]

Before we finish up, I'm going to share with you some of my favorite Instagram marketing

tips.

Combine these tips with your carefully curated hashtags, and it's only a matter of time

until your following skyrockets.

ONE - Engage with your followers….

This is a great way to solidify your relationship with existing followers, and build trust for

your brand.

Whether it's answering a comment on your post or liking a followers photo, it doesn't

take a lot of time, but it can mean the world to your audience.

After all, it's called social media for reason… socialize!

Look after your followers, and they'll look after you.

TWO - Remember to post frequently!

Building a following on Instagram is tough, and it's even tougher if you don't post

very often.

Try to post at least a couple of times every week – it'll help you to keep your following

engaged.

THREE - Check out the competition!

Take a look through your competitor's feeds and note down everything you like, and think

about what you could do better.

Take the good ideas and leave the bad.

Learn from your competitors.

As Pablo Picasso once said: "good artists copy, great artists steal".

Thats it, thats our guide to using Instagram hashtags for your business..

And here's our question of the week: what do you think about Instagram marketing?

Do you think it's a sustainable way to grow your business?

Let us know what you think in the comments section below, we can't wait to see your

thoughts.

And, if you liked this video, be sure to hit that subscribe button and turn on the notification

bell.

We'll be adding new videos each week where we'll be sharing some of our best secrets

on running a successful dropshipping store

And until next time – learn often, market better, sell more.

How we pay for our Sailboat - INDEPENDENCE AT SEA - Duration: 6:39.

hello lovely people mono here from Project and I am and

today I'm gonna tell you a little bit about how we make a living on the boat

or how we make our money and also about the upcoming plans and we got a couple

of those most of you who have been watching these videos for a while will

realized that in between I am always working in between aboard the Rainbow Warrior

now recently I didn't get a call back yet so for now I'm absolutely

dedicated to the project which is a good way in many ways cause well part reason

is if you spend three months on your own project you give it a good push get the

videos going and make all the content that you guys watch and after that I have a

three month break while working on ship again during those three months basically

everybody and everything comes to a stop again and then I start again from

scratch

now obviously if you livin on a boat and running a boat on stop it does eat chunk

of money so another way is the support of loving people like yourselves who

sign up on patreon and who donate a small portion of money every month kind

of like saying oh yeah you guys are doing a great job I'm gonna give you a B

and that's a great way unfortunately so far we have a few lovely people who do

support us there but not quite enough to really run the boat of it and another

thing and part of the reason why I'm in Austria right now I've been doing a

little marathon of talks in school well started off with my own school

where I what years ago in Sudan in Corinthian Austria and by now it kind of

grew a little and more schools should I go to now they actually put about a

hundred students in front of me and it's really great stuff and well mostly

because the students are so curious and so enthusiastic about the entire topic

really and full of questions and it's just a bit of an eye-opener to tell them

what's really happening out there in terms of fisheries overfishing what fish

hunt really means and that it's not as simple as it seems sometimes so anything

you guys are particularly here is bad give me a shout and I'll be happy to

drop a bit more of that in one of the next videos and the idea has always been

to offer and provide an open research boat we have some facilities we have

funiculars we have like the stereo loop sort of thing with microscopes we have

an open ro e like an underwater robot which can go down to

- - let me ters we have a drone for aerial footage for reef observations for

making really nice charts of those as well so since that did not quite cut it

yet we've been making an open call to everybody who has a need for boat and

behind now we got a couple of replies so our first trip this year

after we spent more or less one whole month in Turkey to get the boat up and

running and have everything ready and shape for you guys and then we're gonna

have to grease there's a small little island there which has a database with

marine biologists that they have been doing a bunch of research there and they

have been doing surveys they're just trying to find out what's really there

in the water and now we want to look a little bit into the deeper water and

also the ultimate plan that is to create a marine reserve and we want to help

them out with that so that should definitely be a good one and another one

we've been approached with is from June beginning of June until end of August

we've been asked if we could provide the boat and take a couple of tiles with us

and we look for ghost nets which basically means fishing boats every now

and then do lose their nets and just because the Nets not touch the boat

anymore doesn't mean it stops to catch fish so there's a whole bunch of nets

there are slit somewhere cotton rocks cotton reefs and they're still out there

still catching fish until somebody's actually removing them they will keep

doing it so the idea is to cruise along the entire coast of the Adriatic Sea and

use the ROV to look for those nets and then once we've identified and found

them we go down as divers or with divers and remove them from the marine

environment which is great cause good stuff and we're happy - how about with

that and now most it hears about your guy's opinion what do you think we

should pursue what should we do how should we fund ourselves any priority is

more than welcome one more thing that I would love to

offer is to do kind of a marine biology education on the boat so basically take

in biology students on both for maybe a week at a time and do dedicated costs

with them kind of educate more about a training environment which is pretty

much the idea that I had the law on a long way also forth

you will love you watch these videos and come show you what is really out there

what we actually try to protect it and why and go to one lucky spot every day

go diving go snorkeling have a good look around and afterwards talk about what we

actually saw and why the hell we should take so good care of it alright really

curious to hear your guys opinions and please leave a comment push the

subscribe button and if you think we actually working are

not worth the cost feel free to sign up and support a

special alright thanks yes

First Contact How Could We Possibly Talk With Aliens - Duration: 16:10.

First Contact How Could We Possibly Talk With Aliens

BY Brent Swancer

Ever since we as a species have become aware of other stars and planets beyond our own

we have let our imaginations run wild with what might lie out there or if we really are

alone in the universe upon this spinning rock we call Earth.

Are there other creatures or beings inhabiting other stars, and if so we will we ever see

them or even talk to them?

These are the dreams of our kind, the questions that still loom large across the landscape

of our psyche.

Is there someone else out there?

Further adding to our questions is if there was some other race out there, and we did

actually manage to make contact with them across the sea of stars, what would they be

like?

Would we be able to talk to these alien visitors and perhaps more importantly, what would we

say?

The conundrum of how we would communicate with extraterrestrials has in recent years

been seriously considered, and despite all of the very smart people working on it we

are mostly still left in the dark and unprepared for what talking to an alien might actually

be like.

If aliens were to come down and greet us, say, tomorrow, we would likely immediately

be faced with numerous challenges even beyond language, such as culture, customs, ways of

thinking, and even possibly a different concept and perception of reality itself.

We might not even recognize them as any type of life as we know it.

But if we were to assume that we could just start talking, there would be several potential

obstacles right off the bat, not the least of which is that our bodies would likely be

completely different, and this could have a lot of possible repercussions.

For one, since language is a representation of our thoughts, which are largely based in

how we perceive and interact with the world, human languages reflect the concepts of our

senses of sight, smell, touch, and other cues from our physical form, our shared evolution

and physical actions and reactions such as laughter or crying.

What then happens if an alien race has no eyes or ears or mouth, or experiences the

world in a totally different way?

What if they do not have the same physical relationship with their as we do with our

own?

What if they dont laugh or cry, or emote as we do?

They may have no understanding at all of what our concepts of perception are in the first

place, a totally different way of experiencing and thinking about time and reality, and so

this would reverberate throughout their whole way of thinking and communication, and indeed

their very being.

This was all rather well-explored in the film Arrival, in which a team of linguists is tasked

with deciphering the mysterious language of a decidedly non-humanoid species with a very

different language and view of time and space, and within the understanding of which hangs

the balance of our survival.

Even within human languages here on Earth we can see how the effects of our sensory

abilities, our upbringing, and our perceptions of the world around us can change methods

and means of communication.

For instance, deaf people use sign language as a means to communicate when the sense of

hearing is robbed from them.

However, although human languages do all sound very unique and even alien at times, and there

are sign languages and whatnot, they are still based on our shared perception of the universe

through the same common biology, morphology, anatomy, and physiology, and therefore they

follow rules that we can all fathom and which give us at least a chance of reproducing them.

With aliens, all bets would be off.

Another important hurdle with differences in physical form would be how we produce and

detect sounds, and thereby language, in the first place.

For humans we use a vocal tract and our ears, and there is a very finite, set frequency

through which we are able to detect the sounds we utter.

With aliens they would be working with a whole different set of organs, frequencies, and

physiology for speech, that is if they even spoke as we know it at all.

Their utterances would possibly be made through strange organs for which we have no close

approximation or even understanding of, would probably be made at frequencies, vibrations,

or cadences that we would not be able to detect or recognize as language, and would be made

through a different atmosphere to make it all even worse.

These would be completely non-human sounds, we may not be able to physically discern the

distinctions they make, and considering that many animals on our very own planet are thought

to be able to speak in language and we are completely in the dark as to what they are

saying, this would likely be even more pronounced in something from out beyond the stars.

Perhaps impossibly, indecipherably so.

Simply put, if we cannot physically detect their sounds and cannot reproduce them, then

vocal communication is virtually impossible.

Lets say, for arguments sake, that we can get past these obstacles, and that we

can hear and be heard by each other in a meaningful way.

The problems would still not end there.

The very rules of our language and the way they are laid out are all intrinsically linked

to our biology and mindset as well.

An alien language might not have any of the parts of language that we take for granted,

such as verbs, adjectives, and nouns, would possibly not view things such as cause and

effect or the passage of time the same as us, and would potentially follow certain internal

rules, logic, and structures so different from us that we are unable to even mutually

comprehend them.

We as humans have shared cognition and linguistic structures, basic psychologies, and features,

but aliens cannot be counted upon to do so.

Jessica Coon, a professor of linguistics at McGill University in Montreal who was consulted

on the film about extraterrestrial communication, Arrival, said of this:

What linguists have discovered about human languages is that even though they can sound

very different from one another and their grammars do show a lot of variationlanguages

tend to fall into certain patterns.

Most of the worlds languages fall into one of those patterns or the other.

The variation isnt completely unconstrained.

Humans seem to be hardwired for this capacity to learn language.

Because it is part of our genetics and part of being human, its very unlikely that

other creatures would have the same kinds of constraints or show the same kinds of similarities

that human languages do.

We would just have to hope that we would still be able to recognize patterns and match it

up with were seeing.

The notable American linguist and cognitive scientist Noam Chomsky has also offered his

thoughts on the inherit linguistic problems with trying to talk with extraterrestrial

beings with which we have no shared cognitive understanding of how language works.

He has said:

If a Martian landed from outer space and spoke a language that violated universal grammar,

we simply would not be able to learn that language the way that we learn a human language

like English or Swahili.

Were designed by nature for English, Chinese, and every other possible human language.

But were not designed to learn perfectly usable languages that violate universal grammar.

The formidable challenge this would present can already be seen even among human languages

here on our own planet, where there are sometimes things we have no word for, or a lack of a

word for something we take for granted.

A tropical people might have no word for snow, for instance.

Some remote, isolated languages are so alien to others that they do not even have words,

concepts or phrases for things most speakers of other languages would likely take for granted.

For instance, the Pirah people of the Brazilian Amazon have no words for counting things.

It is either one or more than one, thats it.

They also have no clear words for certain directions such as left or right,

and this is a daunting challenge to understanding them, even though they are human.

Imagine a completely non-human entity with even more outlandish rules of language and

grammatical idiosyncrasies and you can see how meaningful exchanges could be a problem.

Jesse Snedeker, a Harvard psychologist who studies the development of language in children,

has said of this:

We know that every child can learn every possible human language.

Every child has to have some sort of internal capacity that allows them to learn language.

We have to ask ourselves, Would we have the capacity to learn alien language, and

would they have the capacity to learn ours? And different people would give you very different

answers to that question.

On the other hand, theres the argument that any species that achieves a high level

of technology would necessarily understand certain concepts, so that ought to provide

a basis for at least a limited degree of communication.

This is where we begin to see that all hope is not necessarily lost, and one thing seen

as the key to actually being able to start towards communication with aliens is to find

some commonality to use as a starting point.

A good way to do this would be to have some sort of key, something like the Rosetta Stone,

which helped us to decipher ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics.

This has been an idea tossed around in science fiction before, such as the use of the tones

in Spielbergs Close Encounters of the Third Kind, or the use of prime numbers in Carl

Sagans book Contact.

If we could have some common frame of reference and somewhere to start, then there is the

chance we could work towards further meaningful communication.

One of the best ways of doing this has been seen in recent years as being to use mathematics

or scientific information such as physics as a sort of universal language and

starting point.

After all, as the laws of physics and reality are the same throughout the universe, then

it stands to reason that any advanced society would have a grasp of these things in a similar

way, regardless of how we ultimately think about them or express them in language.

No matter what our physiological differences or deviations in ways of looking at the world

and universe, physics are the same everywhere, and so would be a commonality we could use.

Carl DeVito, an emeritus faculty member in the mathematics department at the University

of Arizona in Tucson, believes that although this exchange of scientific information is

perhaps the key to communication with aliens, it nevertheless still faces some challenges.

First is that the idea that it is still reliant on understanding the aliens systems of

measurement, as well as relying on the supposition that they can count and do arithmetic as we

do, that they recognize the same elements of the periodic table, that they have adequately

studied the different states of matter, and that they know enough chemistry to carry out

chemical calculations in the same way we do.

He also points out that even though the physics would be the same, these extraterrestrials

might calculate their rules of motion and mechanics based on their own unique geometry.

DeVito has said of this:

The mathematics of motion is differential calculus.

Can we assume that an alien race shares this with us?

Differential and integral calculus are so fundamental in so many areas of science that

it is hard to imagine a science without them.

But this is, perhaps, a human bias.

We, of course, cant know, but we must be aware that the physics of an alien race, even

in a fundamental area like mechanics, might differ in subtle but important ways from our

own.

Using mathematics and physics is nevertheless still seen as a potential way of breaking

through our communication barrier, to the point that it is used by those organizations

seeking to reach out and make contact, such as SETI.

However, even if we can express simple messages to each other with math, there are still the

intricacies of culture and thinking that would shape how messages and ideas are expressed

and interpreted.

Doug Vakoch, the president of Messaging Extraterrestrial Intelligence, METI, and respected researcher

of xenolinguistics, has said of this conundrum thus:

If they can build spacecraft to come to come to Earth, they have to have an understanding

of good engineering, physics, science, math.

But doing the nitty-gritty work of going back and forth and making guesses at what an alien

says, trying to interpret swirls and determining a sentence or concept?

Its hard.

Conveying matters.

You need flexibility of language with its infinite combinations.

Our art and culture thats all from language, thats not from just raw numbers.

In addition to the promise of using math, there is also the hopeful fact that it is

possible that the aliens psyches and physicality are not as different from our own as we may

think after all.

For instance, on our own planet we can see vastly different organisms that have nevertheless

developed strikingly similar ways of dealing with the environment and world around them,

such as evolving eyes, ears, legs, wings and similar organs separately across species,

often evolving independently or sometimes the same structures multiple times, all in

the process called convergent evolution.

Perhaps in other areas of the universe extraterrestrials have evolved similarly enough to ourselves,

especially an intelligent tool-using one that would have developed communication and technology

in the first place, that our mental architectures and languages are not necessarily mutually

unintelligible.

This theory postulates that there are enough universal elements to how we think and evolve

to certain environmental challenges that this would be enough solid ground for us to delve

into a basic framework from which further communication would be possible.

Making this even more promising still is that with all of the broadcasts we have spewed

out into the stars the aliens would potentially have a good enough sampling of our languages

and communications to make talking between us easier without having even met us yet,

a possibility of which Coon has said:

If you have enough information and enough of the context and the history, I think theres

hope that even without a lot of interaction you could be able to make at least significant

progress in understanding the grammar of a languageagain depending on how likely we

are to be able to understand alien life at all.

I wouldnt be surprised at all if creatures who could make giant spaceships that just

show up on Earth could easily figure out our languages from the many broadcasts we put

into outer space, and that we might be able to do the same thing with sufficient resources

and sufficient information.

One thing that is worth considering is that even if we overcome all of these considerable

challenges and are able to communicate, look at us here on Earth.

With our different cultures, ways of thinking, values, and linguistic nuances, even communication

between us humans can be confusing and difficult, with misunderstandings and gaffes commonplace.

How can we hope to resolve these issues with an alien civilization from another star?

In the end, we just dont know.

Since we have never made contact with aliens, at least as far as we know, there is no precedent

for it, and we cannot possibly know what to expect when such a day comes to pass.

It is impossible to know what form these beings will take, how they will think, or how they

will communicate.

Will it come easy or will we forever remain closed behind mutual doors of incomprehensibility?

The answers remain complex, it is all left entirely to speculation and the imagination,

and we will only know when we finally make that first contact we have always dreamed

of.

Know Whether You Are Carrying Yin Or Yang Energy And Bring Back - Duration: 5:08.

Know Whether You Are Carrying Yin Or Yang Energy And Bring Back Balance Into Your Life

by Conscious Reminder

We all are predominantly either Yin or Yang.

Although youd assume that this might mean were not in balance or harmony, but in

reality recognizing your form will help you have a better understanding of harmony and

be in balance.

Yin Characteristics Cool

Adaptable Night owl

Relaxed Cold water (preferably with Ice)

Yang characteristics Warmth

Strength Day

Energetic Teas and lukewarm/room temperature water

However if you feel like you have a combination of both of the above characteristics, then

it is advisable for you to consult an expert whod be better able to assess your energies.

We all know that the Yin and Yang exist together to bring balance to each other.

We ourselves experience both Yin and Yang and could move from one energy to the other

during the course of our life.

How to Balance Your Energies It is necessary to reach a balance between

the both so as to have optimal health and wellness in life.

This balance is achieved when you take care to have a close look at the emotional patterns,

dietary habits and body history of aches and so on.

Diet What we eat impacts our body temperature and

therefore is very important to bring a balance in our body.

So if youre a Yang individual, you need to release your excess energy and heat through

your food.

Eating thermogenic foods such as spices and red meats is not in your best interests.

Fresh vegetables, dill and mint are advisable.

And if you are a Yang Person, you might be fatigued and need all the nourishment that

you can get.

Add more broccoli and coconut soup like ingredients in your diet.

Stay away from detoxifying diets as your body is more in need of nourishment than anything

else.

Emotions Emotions are very volatile and need balancing

the most.

It is very vital that you start with a determination to be less reactive and more mindful.

Practice this till it becomes a part of your Habits.

A yin individual is more likely to get sad and fearful during times of stress.

They have a habit of internalizing their emotions.

A Yang individual gets easily riled up and angry when things dont go exactly as planned.

It is important that a balance is found and met while dealing with our emotions.

Instead of reacting instinctively or suppressing your feelings, try taking a deep breath and

face the problem with a rational mind.

Body Our body too needs balance.

A yin individual, would benefit more from aggressive practices such as Vinyasa flow

And a Yang individual would be able to calm their aggression by practices such as Yin

yoga.

Although we rather prefer to be in our comfort zone and stick to the things that we are better

at, it is very important that we try to practice that which is more necessary for our bodys

balance and holistic health.

Northwest Herping Outdoors: Indigo Days 12/2017 - Duration: 16:23.

Hey, it's Ian here!

I've got something special for everyone today.

How about an indigo snake adventure?

In 2008 The Orianne Society was founded as a non-profit organization with the purpose of saving the Eastern Indigo Snake and its habitat from extinction.

By preserving longleaf pine ecosystems other endangered animals like Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnakes and Gopher Tortoises can thrive and provide both food and shelter for Indigo snakes.

Indigos seek gopher tortoise burrows in their winter breeding season from October to February and can remain active at temperatures around 50 to 60 degrees when it's still too cool for other snakes.

It's during this time when the Orianne Society organizes their Indigo Days events where 40 or so members are invited to help survey for Indigos under their licenses and permits.

Follow The Orianne Society on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to look for trip registration announcements and be prepared to pounce as trip slots fill up quickly.

Eastern Indigo Snakes were listed on the Endangered Species Act in the 1970's and their population has continued to decline.

Locally extinct from Mississippi and Alabama they primarily exist in southeast Georgia and peninsular Florida with a few on the panhandle.

I wouldn't normally seek out animals with state and federal protections, but to survey for them legally with Indigo experts is lifetime herp bucket list material.

Over 40 members converged on the Orianne Indigo Snake Preserve on a chilly December morning.

After initial orientation and a quick review of safety procedures and protocol we split into three groups, loaded up into cars, and drove off to different properties for a full day of field herping.

One way to look for Indigos in winter begins with finding a gopher tortoise burrow.

You survey the sandy apron outside the burrow opening for snake tracks, look for shed snake skins, and look into the burrow for a burm which is a pile of sand created by a large-bodied snake crawling out of the burrow.

If you can determine the direction of the snake tracks to be out of the burrow then survey outwards in a spiral.

Otherwise, you move on to the next burrow and repeat the process. Sounds simple and easy right?

Our day picked up when The Orianne Society's Matt Moore found the first Indigo snake in our group! Here we go!

We got the gopher tortoise burrow here. No doubt it was probably found here.

Male or female?

Uhm, Male.

That's insane!

Yeah yeah, where is the tracks Matt?

I was looking...

That and that and there is that...

He may have gone in and then maybe exited again. He may have been in and out of this burrow.

Yes, thats very likely Ben. I think you're right.

Wast there a burm in there?

Oh I see!

(We're on the leaderboard!) Cheers. We're scoring!

Is this data collection, pit tagging, and all that right here in the field?

Yup. Hot damn.

Typically when we don't have an audience we can get this done in 15 to 20 minutes.

For the snakes its very little stress and we can get them back into the burrow and he can continue on his day.

The Orianne Society gathered morphometric data on captured snakes, sampled for disease, and if the animal was not already pit tagged it was given one to aid identification on recapture in the future.

See the video link for Fieldnotes With Ben Stegenga "Snake Fungal Disease Project" for a great demonstration of this process.

Seven?!

It should be under that but we want...

No no no! I love that he starts with 7. That just excites me.

Stretch out this ruler to 8 and a half, and look at that, and realize thats the record for a male indigo. It'll blow your mind. Yeah dude!

Thats nine so yeah right where her thumb is. That is the record. Insane!

I'm gloving him up.

Give me a vent length.

Vent is right at 5 feet.

5 feet? Give me centimeters.

Uhh 152

Point? ...And a half.

27.8 tail length

That's typical of Indigos they kinda puff at you a little bit, they'll vertically flatten their necks.

They have a whole array of defense tactics, they will even play dead sometimes.

Very rarely bite, but that does sometimes happen.

Definitely push on it a little bit.

We want to pick up as much particulate as possible.

We want to swab the eyes, the nostrils, the mouth, the edge of the mouth, because those are typically the hot spots for where SFD symptoms manifest.

Any body openings.

The staff also set a great example on raising awareness of snake fungal disease and basic sterilization practices to limit its spread.

Rubber gloves were used by some and hand sanitizer was readily available for both hands and snake hooks.

That's good, you can put that in that vial.

Break it? Break it yeah.

And the vent is another spot where we see a lot of crust and sores.

And then you can note that there are bite marks on the back of his neck, on the right side, but I'm pretty sure that's combat bites.

Typically we pit tag in the first foot, on the right side of the snake, just above the vent.

A little microchip is injected just under the skin.

It doesn't appear that he has any tags, so this is a new snake we've never seen before. (Cheering)

He's just over 2 kilograms.

We do want to sanitize the site with alcohol.

And then afterwards we'll put an anti-bacterial liquid band-aid on it just to seal it up. That's good.

So we just give that about 30 to 60 seconds to dry, and he is...Uh oh! (laughter)

This is the first indigo for how many people?

Oh wow, very cool. Awesome!

That's a lot of hands. Glad we were able to help.

I thought I was going to get heckled. (laughter)

That would have been two Indigo Days in a row that my group was the only one that didn't find an indigo.

They didn't tell us that this morning before they said go with Ben? (laughter)

I got the only diamondback last year so I redeemed myself a little bit!

Thanks for letting us get photos. That's super nice!

We'll kinda pose it for a shot or two. We'll see. Sometimes they sit pretty good right off the bat.

Time for some combative photography, let's throw some elbows guys!

Ready?

Ready?

You guys can try and video that. We'll photograph him and let him go. Ian. (Laughter)

Everybody good? Yup. Ok.

There he goes! (Cheering)

An Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake was spotted basking outside of a gopher tortoise burrow but got spooked and went right back down the hole!

Bummer dude. I think I can bump him with the hook but that's about all. Keep diggin'!

Bring your shovel? (laughter)

Indigo snakes have more going on for them than just being rare and endangered.

The species name Drymarchon is composed of the Greek words "drymos" meaning "forest" and archon meaning "lord" which translates to "lord of the forest".

I think it's interesting that sexual dimorphism tends to favor the females being the largest in most snake species,

but I'm learning there are exceptions like Indigos and Rat Snakes where the males can grow larger than the females.

Indigos feed on a variety of prey including the largest venomous snake in North America, the eastern diamondback rattlesnake, and they are mostly immune to their venom.

Many large non-venomous snakes are constrictors that coil and squeeze but the Indigo snake uses its muscular jaws to crush and overpower its prey.

They are sometimes known to kill prey by violently beating it against the ground or nearby objects.

Anything that fits in their mouth that they can bite and crush they will eat!

A longtime Orianne member and volunteer, Rob Richie found the second Indigo Snake in my group.

Great find man.

Just gotta be in the right place at the right time.

So its an untagged snake? Yup!

Generally Indigo snakes have large smooth scales however adult males have a few rows of lightly keeled or ridged scales running down the center of their backs.

This is really cool because it means you can sex the shed skins which is not something you can do with most snakes.

This happens to be the shed of an adult female Indigo snake so it lacks these features.

138 nose to vent, and then 24 vent to tail.

Yeah and there is a definite bite scar here on the side.

There are several scars. That may mean she's already bred.

We give each one of these snakes a name. This one's going to be, instead of "Gracie" its going to be "Grassy". Grassy!

I wouldn't have complained if she'd been named after me, just sayin'. (laughter)

So with everyone separated into three groups you are only seeing 1/3rd of the action in this video!

Right now it's only a 35 dollar per year minimum donation to become eligible for members-only trips with additional donation tiers and benefits available.

Another indigo snake shed, this looks like another female so... two sheds, pretty cool!

If you want to see more on surveying for indigos see "Fieldnotes with Ben Stegenga" on the Orianne Society's Youtube page. I'll put a link at the end of this video.

At the end of the last day we gathered to admire an Indigo and Pine Snake found by Noah Fields in another group that had been bagged for tagging and data collection. Thanks Noah!

Variation in the degree of orange or reddish color on their chins. Some of them have a good or great deal of it. Some have none and its a creamy white almost like a racer.

So we're going to release him shortly.

It was a great pleasure to watch such an ethical and enthusiastic group fan out over miles of land, peering under every rock and log and into every crevice and burrow.

A real army of citizen scientists from all kinds of backgrounds.

Thanks to the Orianne Society, their friendly staff, and to the other members that helped on this survey. I really appreciated swapping stories from the field with everyone.

Thanks for watching!
