Waching daily Mar 8 2018

A Saudi Arabian royal family living in Falls Church, Virginia is being accused of forcing

a woman into slavery.

The lawsuit said the woman worked more than 15 hours a day, wasn't allowed to leave the

royal family's home without supervision and repeatedly called a whore, a donkey, colored

and garbage.

Joining me now to talk about this is RT correspondent Brigida Santos.

Brigida, what ... This is another one of those crazy stories that you take a look at and

you say it's really more important than just this particular story, but what is the story

in this case?

An Eritrean citizen named Simret Tekle has filed a complaint against a married couple

from the House of Saud, the Saudi royal family.

Now Miss Tekle alleges that they trafficked her to the United States and held her there

and made her serve as a slave.

Now she had signed a contract, which unfortunately she could not read.

It was written in Arabic, but she was told that it was a contract for employment in which

she would be serving as a nanny to one of the children belonging to this family in Virginia.

Now she was told she would be working 40 hours per week, that she would get two days off,

and she would earn a salary of $4,500 per month, but when she arrived in Virginia, her

passport was taken away.

She was taken to the house where she was a servant for six children, as well the family,

the parents.

She was paid about $400 to $500 per month, working 80 hours per week, doing all kind

s of physical labor jobs, things that were not in her contract.

Now she says that she could not escape because she was under constant surveillance.

There were cameras all throughout the house, including in her bedroom, and there was an

armed guard present at all times who threatened her with deportation if she tried to escape.

Now luckily she did escape one day when a driver ditched her.

He was supposed to be watching her but fortunately he did not, and it was lucky for her because

she was able to escape.

Now she's filed this complaint and she is asking for a jury trial, Mike.

Well you know, no question there won't be criminal ... Saudi Arabian family, we're afraid

to say this, but we understand that Saudi are the same group, financed the group that

killed 3,000 Americans.

We know that.

We know what happened on 9/11.

We understand the Saudis were involved.

Nobody has been held responsible for that.

This woman, the idea of her going to a police station and saying, "Gee whiz.

Shouldn't there be some kind of criminal charges here?" is almost impossible to visualize.

Is there any reaction by the royal family, and do they know if they're still living in

the US after this complaint was filed?

There has been comment from the Saudi royal family and in fact they have not been available

for reporters at all.

Now we don't know whether they are still living here, but it's very likely that they are because

they are residents of Virginia and their children go to school here and they really have no

reason to flee because they do enjoy broad diplomatic immunity from any types of crimes,

Mike.

Yeah I think this, again this story compared to the Saudis financing the murder of 3,000

Americans is, you can't make a comparison, but you can make a comparison to the conduct

of the US government.

We know after ... It was very clear that the Saudis were involved in killing 3,000 Americans.

The government actually helped sneak those people out of the United States, the Saudis

they thought might have been involved and into a safe place called home.

This woman is an immigrant.

Do you know if the US courts will factor this in, if she and her lawyer pursue this case?

In other words, does this situation have any precedent at all?

There is no precedent and in fact, may people have filed complaints against members of the

Saudi royal family diplomats.

This includes immigrants as well as US citizens and most of those cases, if not all of them

have been dropped due to the fact that they get this broad diplomatic immunity.

I don't know if the courts are going to factor in the fact that she is an immigrant but if

they do, I don't think it will end well for her, especially because the United States

and Saudi Arabia are such close allies.

It's unlikely that we're suddenly going to start prosecuting members of the royal family

here.

Yeah, again, we didn't prosecute them for their involvement in the death of 3,000 Americans

so it's doubtful that we'll see that here.

You know, what's interesting, this isn't the first incident of slavery by a royal family

member.

A similar case was taken up in the UK.

Give us the picture of what happened there in the UK, when they found themselves in a

very similar situation.

Last year, a Saudi diplomat's maid won a landmark case in the United Kingdom.

This was a very similar case to the one that we're seeing out of Virginia, in which a maid

from the Philippines was trafficked to the United Kingdom and held against her will,

doing all kinds of tasks that are illegal.

Now she appealed to the UK Supreme Court, and they ultimately ruled in her favor, stating

that the Saudi diplomat in his actions with her were outside of his official duties and

therefore he was not going to be immune from his actions here.

Something similar could happen in the United States, although again, it's very, very unlikely,

seeing as how many times people have filed complaints against diplomats and they've gone

un-investigated.

Yeah.

Well it's all about oil.

It's all about the fact that they own so much of our US, of our government in so many ways,

but they also own businesses.

They own so much commercial property in this United States that right now, it's hard to

differentiate whether they're actually active American citizens or Saudi family, Saudi royal

family.

That's how bad the problem's become.

If you take a look ... So many articles have been written about this.

It is that it becomes almost impossible to hold them to the same standard of the law

that the average American is held to.

They're simply above the law.

They have diplomatic immunity every time they need it.

As a matter of fact, how extreme can we possibly make that picture when we consider that we

know that there is zero question, zero question about the fact that the Saudi money actually

paid to have 9/11 take place on our soil, and today we're going to see the president

holding hands with some Saudi over in the Mid-East, talking about how important their

relationship is with the United States.

The problem is we have to be honest about what our relationship really is with the Saudi

royal family.

Is there any official probe, either by the US or any agency regarding this practice,

of what we just discussed in these two cases?

As far as I can tell, there is no official probe.

Now in Saudi Arabia, where abuses are rampant against domestic workers, there are investigations

that have been brought forward by countries like Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Kenya to name

a few, but no official investigation in the United States.

As you said, we continue to sell weapons to the Saudis, despite the fact that they finance

the attacks on 9/11.

Right.

Full disclosure.

I'm bringing a lawsuit against the Saudi families for actually paying for terrorism in the United

States and I know an awful lot about where this money connects up.

We think that by the end of the lawsuits, that by the way, we've been granted to bring

because the law has been changed.

We now can sue the Saudis in the United States for their involvement with US terrorism.

I think we're going to find out a lot in the civil cases that my firm and a coalition of

lawyers are bringing to actually uncover and kick over this very dirty log that we seem

to be so willing to ignore.

Thank you for joining me Brigida.

Peggy Carter's Funeral | Captain America Civil War (2016) Movie Clip - Duration: 3:32.

And now, I would like to invite Sharon Carter

to come up and say a few words.

Margaret Carter was known to most as a founder of S.H.I.E.L.D.

but I just knew her as Aunt Peggy.

She had a photograph in her office.

Aunt Peggy standing next to JFK.

As a kid, that was pretty cool.

But it was a lot to live up to.

Which is why I never told anyone we were related.

I asked her once how she managed

to master diplomacy and espionage...

in a time when no one wanted to see a woman succeed at either.

She said, compromise where you can.

But where you can't, don't.

Even if everyone is telling you that something wrong is something right.

Even if the whole world is telling you to move...

it is your duty to plant yourself like a tree...

look them in the eye and say "No, you move."

When I came out of the ice,

I thought everyone I had known was gone.

Then I found out she was alive.

I was just lucky to have her.

She had you back, too.

Who else signed?

Tony, Rhodey, Vision.

Clint?

Says he's retired.

- Wanda? - TBD.

I'm off to Vienna for the signing of the Accords.

There's plenty of room on the jet.

Just because it's the path of least resistance...

doesn't mean it's the wrong path.

Staying together is more important than how we stay together.

What are we giving up to do it?

I'm sorry, Nat.

I can't sign it.

I know.

Then what are you doing here?

I didn't want you to be alone.

Come here.

Blas Perez Demos The Rumble Studio 40 | Rumble Bass Amps | Fender - Duration: 9:53.

[MUSIC]

Hey, it's Blas Perez, and today we're checking the Rumble Studio 40 amp.

It's a brand new amp that's part of the tried and true Rumble series.

It's loaded with a ton of features that you won't be able to live without.

Let's check it out.

[MUSIC]

So, the first thing you'll hear is that it has those traditional Rumble sounds you

already know and love, but with tons of new features.

We're looking at 40 watts, which is perfect just to take to the studio for

a little session, or if you just want that bedroom level amp

that's not going to bother anyone, 40 watts will do it.

We're looking to add an awesome 10" Fender special design speaker which a 10"

speaker is perfect for bass players because it's such a wide range speaker.

We have a tweeter on it, so if you want something that has a little more

crisp attack, you can just turn that tweeter right on.

Or if you don't like that sound just switch it right off.

We're going to have stereo send and return, stereo XLR line outputs,

AUX input, a USB output.

And if you really want to go quiet, we've got that headphone output on it too.

And, for the first time on any Fender bass amp, we got built-in Wi-Fi,

which is a total game-changer for bass players, but more on that later.

So we got best of both worlds here.

As you can see, you can modify your sounds by just the standard

little tacked out knobs that you would see on any bass amp here.

But with this encoder knob, you can really dive in deep and

just on the fly change the sound of whatever bass amp you want to use, so.

[SOUND] You have a nice, clean amp there.

[SOUND]

Just with a turn of a knob.

[SOUND]

You can just,

[SOUND]

pull up different amp sounds, and it

[SOUND]

instantaneously changes,

[SOUND]

it's endless.

Rumble Studio 40 includes both genre and tone-specific presets.

Nobody else is creating such a wide variety of tones for

genres from R&B, to metal to, pop to jazz.

So everything from the Reno and 59 Bassman models to monster rigs of the 70s and

80s and the best modern based amps.

We also included over 40 studio quality effects ranging from delays and reverbs,

compression, and eq, to base specific favorites like octave effects and

envelope filters and a cool Octobot synth emulator.

These effects make it super easy to craft whatever it is that's inside your head.

One thing I would like to add is that when I first got this amp,

I noticed that just by having all those cool features.

You dive in and as you're playing,

you're getting inspired by all these tones that are coming at you.

And before you know it, two to three hours go by and

you just spent like a cool session of practice and you didn't even know it.

[MUSIC]

I'll show you guys two of my favorite amp models.

One particular favorite of mine is the Bassman 300,

which is what I normally play on stage, and I've been playing it for a while now.

It sounds pretty much like the real amp that I play on stage.

[MUSIC]

Now, the cool thing about the Bassman is it's super

easy to dial up a really gritty rock tone.

[MUSIC]

Another one of my favorite settings is an amp model by the name of Rockin Peg,

it sounds shockingly similar to a classic 70s amp rig.

[MUSIC]

Cool thing is with the touch of a button here,

if you want to add some more depth to your tone,

You got yourself a nice stereo delay.

[MUSIC]

Now what's cool about that delay setting is that it has spillover.

So, when you have these long trails, and you switch to your next preset, it's not

going to just awkwardly cut it off and your verb or your delay is just gone.

Rumble Studio 40 is the world's first Wi-Fi-equipped bass amp.

Players will be able to access Fender artists' created presets,

download the latest firmware updates, share user-created presets, and tons more.

And all this can be done on the amp or via the Tone app.

The cool thing about firmware is that your amp is just going to

constantly get better with all the updates.

You'll be able to get new stomp boxes that come out, new amp models.

Basically, the amp you're playing today it's not going to be the amp you're

playing tomorrow, it's going to be so much more robust.

Because it has built-in Bluetooth,

you can stream music wirelessly from any Bluetooth device, or customize a preset

from across the room with an iOS or Android smartphone using the tone app.

The Fender tone app is a free download that you can use to get

even more out of your amp.

The optional 4-buttton footswitch unlocks Rumble Studio 40's powerful onboard

looping capabilities, with up to 60 seconds of record time.

Here's a cool example of just laying down a groove with the looper pedal, and

just playing over it, and having fun.

[MUSIC]

The optional footswitch also allows for control of your presets, your effects,

your tuner and, of course, the looper.

[MUSIC]

Thanks for checking out the Rumble Studio 40 with me.

Stayed tuned here for more great videos.

of the sea, very colorful

And I'll try to show it to you. It is very small.

I do not know if the GoPro will have enough focus. But let's go!

That's it folks. A beautiful thing.

The whole stone covered by this green carpet.

I know it's not an animal ...

It's an animal!

I know it's not an animal that moves, which is so interesting,

But I love it. I think it is beautiful!

And I hope you liked it too!

Until the next video.

Goodbye!

🌼FitAir Portable AIR PURIFIER TRUE HEPA FILTER - (Armband, Desk, Travel) Review 👈 - Duration: 6:57.

hey guys device I'm wearing on my arm is an air purifier it even has a HEPA

filter it can also be used on your desktop or other surfaces as convenient

personal air purifier this is the FitAir portable air purifier it has a HEPA

filter as you can see I'm wearing it on my arm now to allow myself to enjoy some

clean purified air wherever I go it comes off the armband so I can fit on

any surface and have a standalone option all right so I'm going to take this off

to show you what it looks like in its own standalone position it locks on and

off on the stand right here you just twist for it to come off very very

simple now it comes with the box and inside the box you have your own

armbands with the stand you have another filter and you have

your charging cable which you can plug into your computer or in an adapter for

your cable if you have another one like this it also comes with a very helpful

instruction manual and it is not very long and it has plenty of diagrams to

show you what you need to do

now all you have to do is combine the devices which you do by twisting and

turning which is very cool now I can get them to the close-ups to tell you a

little bit more so here we are this device features a HEPA filter that

is a true h13 medical grade filter it removes microbes to a ninety seven point

eight percent efficiency so this device as I said earlier charges via USB one

charge lasts up to six hours of complete operation now what's cool about this

device is that it has a phone app all you have to do is go to your instruction

manual and on your back on the back it has a QR code if you're an iOS user you

use left one and if you're an Android you use the other you download the app

it's very simple all you need is Bluetooth now I have it right here

alright so here you have the app it tells the devices battery life how much

of the filter remains right now it's at 99% it shows you how much pollutant has

actually been taken out of the air which I think that was really cool and really

useful to know you can also turn the device on and off and the wind power you

can adjust that so I'm gonna turn the device on BAM there you go right there

I'm going to make it a higher wind speed Wow

now it's on its lower there are three wind speeds actually low medium and high

of course you can adjust it to your liking

as you beutel the pollutant number has already gone up since we started using

this this is crazy in case you weren't able to see here is a better look at the

screen as you can see there is the battery level in the filter level and on

the bottom you have your power and your wind selection where you can go from low

medium and high there are only three options there so I'll tell you a little

bit more about it so this device comes with an extra filter as I said earlier

and all you have to do is twist the top and take it off to exchange your filter

for the newer one inside the filter lasts anywhere from one to four months

depending on the level of pollution in your surrounding environment you would

see a very dark ring look on the filter if it is pretty bad as I showed with the

app there are three levels of airflow you can change the airflow manually on

the device you can smooth this knob to your desired location to figure out

which one where you would like your airflow this device only weighs five

point six ounces that are so light and very easy to carry around that's why

it's perfect for around your arm or in a little spot in your room you could place

it in your car wear it on the bus train or plane even keep it on your desk or by

your bedside I think it's pretty useful especially if you have a newborn as well

you want to give them some nice clear air as they're growing so here's an even

closer look at this as you can tell it's a small sleek design you have your

filter on the top and some more airflow on the bottom all you have to do is push

this button to turn it on or you can turn it on

the app as well - turn it off - you hold it down takes a little bit but turned

off on the back you see where you can plug in your charger right there very

convenient you can separate them to put it on the stand where you can wrap it

around your arm and take it anywhere you'd like this is such a very

lightweight versatile small air purifier and that's what's so great about this

usually you have these big clunky long ones this is something you can take

anywhere you go this is something personal and not anything I've seen

before ever so be sure to check the description to find out more about this

product also be sure to subscribe and like this video also keep your comments

coming since we like those a lot thanks for watching guys

Amanda Cerny Home Tour | MyClutter Ep. 1 - Duration: 3:55.

Hey Clutter, I'm Amanda Cerny and I make Instagram comedy, YouTube comedy, and I'm an actress.

And I'm about to show you my studio apartment at 1600 Vine, which we need to move out of.

Thank you guys so much for coming at last minute, I know it's short notice but my apartment

plans kind of fell through and I need to move all my stuff into storage and I need your

help, so come on in and I'll show you what I need stored.

So this is my couch, I know it looks like just a normal couch but it's very special

because it's been in about 3,000 videos: Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Snapchat, all that.

So it's pretty famous and now I got to pack it up and put it in storage.

I'm going to miss this baby.

Now onto the next thing.

So this is me, it's a big picture of me.

Which I know it seems a little bit weird but it's actually from a fan of mine that saw

a picture on my Instagram and then he made this awesome recreation of it, which I think is dope.

The artist is MBG Art and they're super freaking talented, I mean look at that.

There we go. That was heavy.

On to my desk.

Literally, onto my desk.

I got this bad boy online, which is where you get the best things, right?

I saw it on an episode of Two and a Half Men and I was like, even though it's a guys desk

I kind of want it because it's industrial, it's meant for hard work and that's what I do here.

I edit on my computer, this is where I edit all of my videos.

I mean, nowadays, I have editors that I work with but, if I still need to, I edit here.

It's been pretty amazing, it's super heavy so good luck moving it you guys.

I don't know how you're going to do it, that's super impressive.

But let's go check out my chair, it's a lot lighter.

And this is my Cerny chair.

I actually got this because I direct all my Instagram videos, YouTube videos, music videos,

short films, so I needed a director's chair.

But I don't really use it for that, I use it for hair and makeup.

But I think we talked enough about all the items in my house

so I think it's time for you to get to work, Clutter!

Let's start packing.

Alright Clutter, that was so much fun showing you my stuff, helping me move out and actually

storing all of it.

I need to go find a hotel right now to live in for a couple weeks because I need

to find a house.

But, I'll see you guys in a couple weeks also because you're going to be the ones helping

me move into my house, so thank you very much and I'll see you soon.

By the Power of God (03.04.18 PART 2) * - Duration: 16:39.

You share it again to another person, you share the same verses. You share the

same stories they shared, the same testimony but then they take it and

then you wonder how come? How come? Because of this. There is a veil that the

Holy Spirit it's the whole East as the one that reveals the truth remember read

it earlier in John the Holy Spirit is the one that reveals your truth and the

truth is Jesus right it is the Holy Spirit and Jesus is the light the light

of the darkness and you see here that Satan is the god of this world says here

of course many people as we know particularly Jews did not accept the

gospel to them it was veiled but Paul would not change it to make it palatable

or tolerable for them as his opponents had done the gospel was rejected by

people who were unable and unwilling to accept it the Greek word for veil is

calypso it means to cover up or to hide to cover and we see here in 1st

Corinthians 1:18 for the message of the Cross is foolishness to those who are

perishing but to us who are being saved it is the power of God amen

do you remember that moment when you accepted Christ isn't that that the

weight that was on your shoulder was removed you remember that or you didn't

have that I had to watch huh it was just me but the natural man does not receive

the things of the Spirit of God for they are foolishness to him nor can he know

them because they are spiritually discerned

everything including the gospel is spiritually discerned people that's why

we can't kick the door when we're sharing the gospel and you're trying to

insist instead of knocking because Jesus knocks right I am here knocking

if you open the door I will have you with you but us because we're frustrated

because we love them so much we don't want to lose them we want to share that

we want them to accept Christ we kick the door down we're kicking it we're

insisting or being rude or losing our love or losing our focus we're taking it

upon us that they will accept and understand something that's out of our

power it's out of our power there is a veil or being covered and they're

covered because they're also unwitting God sees the hearts of men correct even

before you say a word when you're praying to God he already knows what

you're going to ask him so this same goes with the gospel and how about the

the part there when they disbelieved and were encouraged by Satan look at this

when the veil is not removed we also saw that you belong if you have not accepted

Christ you belong to the enemy in Ephesians 2:2 you used to live in sin

just like the rest of the world obeying the devil the commander of the powers in

the unseen world he is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse

to obey God or the son of sons of disobedience don't you wonder why the

most successful people in this world are people that don't love God yes there are

people there are believers that are highly very very successful in business

wise and financially and everything else but mostly the ones that don't love God

are the ones that are prospering in this life do we agree the things that are bad

the bad businesses they're the flourishing things when I was watching

one of the news footages about drug dealers in the Philippines they were

saying how much they were making a day and I couldn't believe my ears

the drug dealers the drug pushers the drug lords they make all the money in

the world and we can barely make a dent all right us who are making and doing

the right thing we can barely make a dent and what we owe but the people are

doing the wrong things are flourishing because the person the one that the

power that is in control of the world right now is Satan so don't think that

oh let me go to his side first and I'll go to God's side later no if you already

accepted Christ you used to live that life it was hard

for you to obey before it was hard for us to obey it was the right thing to do

every weekend for me my life before was if I did not get into a fight if I did

not get drunk if I didn't hook up with any girl my weekend was a was a bust

that was my weekend that's what made my life my life a happy life so I thought

but as I progressed progressing the sin it became it's empty my problems were

still there once the buzz of the alcohol was gone

the end you remember again what you're going through your emotions are there

again down in the gutter once your friends go home and you turn the lights

off in your room and the deadening the silence is deafening

because all your problems hit you once again and then you come to a point where

you go Lord what am I to do it's so hard for those people that we know that don't

have Christ that don't have the Holy Spirit for anything that we tell them to

make sense to them a one what a person that I have truly loved he called the

you know so we're born-again Christians right he

calls it bored again you're bored again because it's boring

for him our our life is boring free what your life consists of prayer meetings

Bible studies in church that's boring what is that that's what they think and

we always eat right you always eat but they don't know but I find completeness

in my life now so much better than it was before

I don't need loud music I don't need many people around me I don't need much

I just need my God my Bible and God's people it's it's different but you have

to be outside this the veil has to be removed from you in order for you to

understand what I just said Satan who though defeated by Christ as you will

read it in Hebrews 2:14 it reads here inasmuch then as the children have

partaken of flesh and blood he himself likewise Sheridan the same that through

death he might destroy him who had the power of death that is the devil

Christ has defeated the devil because of his death on the cross he meant for we

do not preach ourselves but Christ Jesus the Lord and ourselves your bond

servants for Jesus sake for it is the God who commanded light to shine out of

darkness who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the

glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ Christ was the focus of Paul's message

and the object of his concern contrary to his accusers who suggested otherwise

he labored to advance the cause of Christ for Jesus's sake it has to be the

same with us our concern should be Christ who weep we should be proclaiming

Christ we should be talking about Christ and

what he has done in our lives the focus of our message here is always what Jesus

has done in what what is behind that we're teaching here we just don't share

the gospel we also tell you how to live a holy life I mean not how to live that

you need to live a holy life oh and then why you need to live a holy life not

just enjoy you being saved but we also tell you what Paul tells the entire

church before that they need to live a life that is worthy of the name that

they carry amen it's the same thing that Paul did here it is not his own interest

Jesus was the crucified Jesus was the crucified Christ and the resurrected

Lord since Paul served Christ he also served the church crisis body it is in

Ephesians 1:22 2:23 it reads and he put all things under his feet and gave him

to be head over all things to the church which is his body the fullness of him

who fills all in all everybody our church is a representation of Christ

individually is a representation of Christ if we serve each other we are

serving Christ through one another if we're loving each other we are loving

Christ through one another amen it's the same thing it never changes

while serving the corinthians however unworthy they were Paul was serving is

Lord that it's in Matthew 25:40 and the king will answer and say to them

assuredly I say to you in as much as you did it to one of the least of these my

brethren you did it to me so to my brothers and my sisters who are serving

in this church in the ministries that you are serving our Lord if the people

are frustrating you don't do it for them do it for Christ

amen if you're being discouraged because the

people are not giving you what you think you deserve you know like dinner or

something or a pat on the back you've lost focus

do we agree you've lost focus it goes with our spouse whether you like it or

not he goes to our spouse and our children whether they you think they

deserve it or not we need to love them because when we don't we're not loving

Christ amen I told you was hard I told you following

Christ is not easy right it's impossible the reason Paul served the church and

openly proclaimed the gospel was because of God's work in his life

much as in creating the world God acted to bring light out of darkness as in

Genesis 1 2 2 4 so in spiritual creation he brings light to the hearts of those

in darkness amen if you haven't experiences that means you haven't been

reading your word you haven't been reading your Bible

or you still don't have your own Bible because before I read the book of

Revelation when I wasn't a Christian yet that was the book that was really

targeting my heart in my curiosity because I didn't want the world to end

just yet I was only eight years old I felt like it was not fair that I wasn't

gonna experience life the good life that I thought it was gonna be so I started

reading the book of Revelation and boy did I drop that walk so fast it was so

scary monsters here and there and I was so engaged with those things anything

that came out any movie that came out that made that was about the rebel end

of the world how was I was all over that I was watching it but none of it made

sense the way it did when I finally accepted Christ as my Lord and I read

those that same book those same verses and it came and the understanding was

different light was happenin a dark mind it ghosts

for everybody who has surrendered their lives to Christ the verses that you used

to read will would be different it will mean different to you God will

reveal to you the Holy Spirit will reveal the truth to you and he will

impact you friendly just the same with Paul Paul knew the Scriptures better

than anybody else but Jesus came to him and said Saul Saul why are you

persecuting me he was serving God in the wrong way it didn't matter how sincere

he was it doesn't matter how sincere we are do you understand that your

sincerity has nothing to do with anything let's just put it this way you

want to go to Disneyland right but you're going the wrong way because you

had a different smartphone and the battery was and it was leading you

somewhere else it was bringing it down to the East Coast it doesn't matter how

sincere you are I'm gonna go to Disneyland in LA has nothing to do

you're gonna be lost after four days you're gonna find out you're in New York

and you're then finally hopefully you're gonna accept that you're lost your

sincerity is nothing to do with anything you could because you can be sincerely

wrong do we agree for those of yours or practicing religions and you are

sincerely practicing your religion without Christ if you have not accepted

Christ as your Lord you are going south and again we don't mean Alabama

going south down there I hope I I wish I could say other you know say differently

but I can't because it's in the Bible I am the way the truth and the life no one

comes to the Father except through me jesus said for God so loved the world

that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish

but have eternal life

only Jesus for it is by grace that you've been saved through faith it's a

gift of God not of your stuff so that no one may boast

you

Congress Empowers Payday - Duration: 11:38.

We've seen all the commercials.

The smiling, happy young woman comes walking out of the payday lending office telling us

how happy she is that they now have $500 in their hand with no credit check.

But what that happy spokesman isn't telling you is that in the real world that $500 in

cash comes with a weekly percentage rate that's over 100%, meaning that it could take months

before they ever pay off that small loan.

For several years, horror stories about payday lenders have been plentiful.

There's the case of a 71 year old who borrowed $250 from an Austin, Texas franchise of Cash

Plus after losing her job as a receptionist.

Four months later she owed almost $1,000 and faced the possibility of jail time if she

didn't pay up.

There's a story of a man named Elliot Clark from Kansas who took out a $2,500 loan from

a payday lender to pay off medical bills.

Mr. Clark ended up owing more than $50,000 on the interest charges to that lending company.

He was required to make minimum payments each month.

Even though he did that, it was still $50,000.

There's stories of borrowers who saw their interest rates hiked up to well over 900%

after the week of their loan.

Putting them in an endless cycle of interest payments that takes years to pay off.

This is how the payday lending industry works.

They set up a shop in poor areas of the country or near military bases.

They advertise their services as quick and easy.

It's an easy way to get cash.

Then they rope consumers into a cycle of debt in borrowing that is impossible to break.

Payday lending is a business practice preys on low income citizens, low income families

that have no access to banking services.

They turn to predatory loans when they need to cover a temporary imbalance of expenses.

The industry itself siphons $3 billion a year out of the poorest communities in America.

While this seems like the perfect industry for the government to step in and regulate

and maybe even issue the courts ... The courts ought to take care of those industry, those

parts of our government do nothing.

Joining me to talk about this is attorney Dan Soloway.

Dan, tell us how bad this payday lender problem really is.

What are these lenders doing to American consumers?

Mike, this problem is bad and it's getting worse.

It's a $46 billion industry that is targeting the poor and the minorities, the exact people

who cannot afford to take these loans out.

They're supposed to be to bridge emergency situations, but 85% of the people who take

out these loans can't pay them back.

So it's a cycle of financial ruin for these families.

How are they specifically preying on poor communities?

That seems to be the story.

I mean, if you follow this story all over the country, they seek out poor communities.

What is your take?

Well, it's their business model.

They're not going to loan money to the people who can afford to pay these short term, high

interest loans back.

These predatory loan companies target those people who are having problems paying their

day to day bills.

So when 85% of the people can't afford to pay these loans back, they get a series of

roll overs.

In other words, they take out a second loan to pay back the first loan.

They have to pay a fee to get that second loan.

Those fees are reaching $8, $9 billion a year alone.

So these companies are getting rich off the exact people that they want to get rich off

because there's the people who shouldn't be taking out the loans in the first place.

That's they're creating a cycle of debt that these families cannot get out of.

You know, Dan, for years we were told that the consumer financial protection group was

going to step in and do something about payday lenders.

Just like I said in the open, it doesn't seem like government is there to help at all.

It doesn't seem like regulators are there to help at all.

These people are on their own where it comes to payday lenders.

What is your take on what's actually happening with the responsibility of government to get

involved and say this is just not going to tolerate this?

What's your take?

In the beginning, in 2010 when the bureau was created, they did some good things.

They went after these predatory loan companies.

They hit Cash America with a $19 million fine.

Ace Cash for $10 million.

I mean, they went after these companies that were doing robocall or robo-copying documents,

targeting the military, destroying documents.

But remember, in 2010 when this started, these companies saw what was happening and they

started giving money through politics to various congressmen who stopped the good regulations.

The best regulation was to restrict companies and give these loans only to people who could

afford to pay them back.

That has been eviscerated.

When Trump came in with the new bureau person, it stopped everything.

Well, let me real clear on something and I know you saw this in this story, this is not

just Republicans doing this.

You have the Wall Street Democrats who are actually pushing to let this happen.

I mean, it's amazing.

When you look at the lineup of Democrats that say, "Yeah, we're just going to allow this

to go on," it's pretty incredible.

Tell us about Mick Mulvaney, the acting head of the CFPB.

Is he doing anything to reign in these payday lenders?

I wouldn't expect that, but maybe I'm missing something.

I don't think he is.

I mean, when he got the job through Trump, the first thing he did was put in a budget

request for zero dollars.

He needed no money to control these lenders.

Then for all those campaigns that were going after through policing actions, certain cash

companies, he stopped them in their tracks.

He even stopped an investigation into somebody who gave him a contribution when he was running

for Congress in South Carolina.

Certainly the Democrats are on board because, in some respects, they simply believe there

is a need for this type of short term, high finance or high interest loan.

But we're not seeing through Mulvaney any good control of lenders.

Rather what we're seeing is protection of the lenders and no help for the consumers

who are falling into debt, as you mentioned, that they can't get out of.

A congressman would have be an utter fool not to be able to look at this and say, "Look,

this is nothing but predatory lending.

They're putting these people into impossible situations."

So it's not logic that's driving these congressmen.

Here's my point, you look at the facts, the facts are clear.

Some of these people paying 900% on their loan.

The worst part about it is now with the new trend in the United States, people who don't

pay these loans back are ending up in jail.

I know you know that story too.

It's incredible.

There have been reports that court systems in certain areas around the country, particularly

some courts in Texas that are working with payday lending companies to threaten borrowers

with jail time if they don't pay up.

First of all, is that even legal and can people be thrown in jail for failure to pay these

debts?

What's your take?

Debtors prisons have been illegal in the United States since 1833.

But that hasn't stopped the courts and certain prosecutors by getting involved in this payday

loan scheme.

The way it works is this, the person doesn't pay back the loan, they get sent to a collection

agency.

The collection agency sends it to a lawyer who does what's called an examination under

oath, a court proceeding to find out where their money is to pay back these loans.

Are they employed?

Let's get some garnishment of wages.

Do they have property?

Let's attach that property.

If they don't appear at that examination under oath, then they apply to the court for an

arrest warrant.

The person is arrested.

They may not even gotten notice of the proceeding that they were to be presented at and give

testimony.

There they rot in jail, not only because they haven't paid the debt, but also now because

they didn't attend a quasi court proceeding.

So in fact, we have debtors prisons.

So here again, connect the dots, it's easy.

A congressman, like the congressman and the regulators who support this idea.

We want to create heroes in our mind and that is while this congressman is a Democrat, therefore

they're not going to get involved in this.

They're going to do something about it.

When you really kick over the rotted log, the same Democrats and Republicans who are

taking so much money from Wall Street.

It's not that you can't look at the facts and tell that a, the payday lending predatory

practice is protected by Congress.

B, Congress understands that there's a connection between the individual who gets caught up

in that cycle, has to pay 900%, goes completely, utterly bankrupt because it's an impossible

cycle.

That person can end up in jail because they haven't paid the bill.

So this isn't rocket science, is it?

This isn't rocket science, is it, Dan?

I mean, anybody who says up in Congress, "Oh, gee.

We just didn't know what was going on," or, "This is really good for poor people."

Anybody talking that stupid talk like that understands the same thing we're seeing right

here.

Is there anything hidden about this process that maybe I'm missing?

There's nothing hidden about the process, Mike.

I mean, what would it take?

One restriction.

Require these companies to do some research to make sure that the people they're loaning

the money to have the financial ability to pay it back.

If you do that, it in fact destroys their business model and they stop putting the people,

the 85% who can't afford these loans, into the jails.

But when you don't have the bureau policing these lenders, when you don't have Congress

doing anything other than passing laws to protect the lenders, then nobody is there

to help the consumer and these predatory companies go after those that can afford these the least.

Right.

You hear the other side saying, "Well, they took the loan.

They should've read it."

A lawyer ... Actually this was tested.

They put out several of these contracts to people who had law degrees.

They said, "Where in there is it saying that this thing can actually climb to 900%?"

The lawyer that does this for a living couldn't find it.

It's in the small print, the representation on the phone is an absolute fraud, and these

people get caught up in it.

So this criticism, "Ah gee whiz, they needed the money.

They took the loan.

They have to pay for the problem."

Everybody who has looked and reviewed these documents knows that's utter nonsense.

That this is nothing more than a scam.

It's no different than stealing money from poor people.

Congress knows that, regulators know that, the media knows that.

How about this, why don't you check and see how many times corporate media has done a

story on this issue.

How about try to find it, Google it and try to find it from corporate media today.

You're going to understand the reason they don't is because payday lending advertisement

is so big, especially on the cable network.

Dan, thank you for joining me.

I really think this is going to get bad.

It's going to get worse before it gets better.

Thanks for being here.

You're welcome.
