Waching daily May 25 2018

Hello.

Welcome to our conversation series.

These videos are for intermediate level learners of English.

In these videos, we will talk about many expressions to help you communicate in English.

When you watch these videos you should do 3 things to help you study.

First, our teachers may say a word that you don't know.

Please take the time to find that word in a dictionary to help you understand the video.

Second, you should always try to repeat after the teacher in the video.

Whenever the teacher uses some new vocabulary or expressions, you need to repeat how they

say it.

Last, you should always review and re-watch the videos, and practice what you learned

to help you understand the expressions being taught to you.

It takes time and effort, but these videos will help you if you watch them with a sincere

interest to learn English.

Thank you and enjoy the videos.

Hi, everybody.

I'm Esther and in this video, we're going to talk about how to describe the cost or

price of something.

Now this is important to people like me who like shopping.

Right…

So, for example, I like shopping, especially for dresses.

So, I might say, the cost of "This dress is affordable."

Ok…

"This dress is affordable."

'Affordable' means that this dress is not too expensive.

I have enough money and I can pay for this dress.

I have enough money, I 'can' buy this dress.

So, I would say, "This dress is affordable."

I can also say, "This dress is inexpensive."

We all know what 'expensive' is, but we say "inexpensive", so that's the opposite.

"Inexpensive."

'Affordable' and 'inexpensive' have very similar meanings.

Again, I have enough money to buy this.

It's not too expensive.

Then we have "cheap".

"This dress is cheap."

Now 'cheap' is similar.

It means it's not expensive, but it's a little bit more negative.

If you say that something is "cheap", people may think that the quality is not very

good.

It's not very nice.

Ok, now let's look at the opposite.

The opposite of these words is "expensive".

"This dress is expensive."

It costs a lot of money…too much money.

Maybe I don't want to buy it.

We can also say, "over-priced".

"This dress is over-priced."

That means the price is too high.

So again, I don't want to buy this dress.

It's too expensive and over-priced.

Ok, let's look at some more examples together.

Let's look at some examples.

"The hat was affordable because it was on sale."

"The hat was affordable because it was on sale."

Next.

"I wish this bag was more affordable."

"I wish this bag was more affordable."

Next.

"This computer is surprisingly inexpensive."

"This computer is surprisingly inexpensive."

Next.

"These shoes look beautiful, but they are too cheap."

"These shoes look beautiful, but they are too cheap."

Next.

"That jacket is too expensive."

"That jacket is too expensive."

And last.

"I cannot buy this over-priced bag."

"I cannot buy this over-priced bag."

Ok, so in this video, we learned that when we want to describe the cost of something,

as not too expensive, we say "affordable".

Ok…

Something is 'affordable' if it's not too expensive.

If I can buy it with the money I have.

On the other hand, if something is not affordable, if the cost is very high, we say "expensive"

or "over-priced".

For me, ahh…I think some brands like H&M and Forever21 are affordable.

Some people don't think this way.

They think it's cheap.

Uhh…sometimes, yes.

Some of the items can be cheap.

But for me, I like those brands because they are affordable.

Ahhh…another store that I like, in Korea…it's called Zara or 자라, in Korea as they say.

Uhm…they have some items that are affordable and some items that are very expensive.

Too expensive for me to buy.

Ok, well that's what I wanted to share in this video.

Thanks for watching.

Bye.

Hello.

I'm Bill.

In this video, we're going to talk about something fun that people like to do…and

that's vacation.

We like to go on vacation…and we like to tell people about our vacations.

Because, if we can make them jealous, that's even better.

Now, there's two questions here that we're going to use to talk about 'vacation'.

One question is 'where we go' for vacation.

And the other question is 'what we do' when on vacation.

Now, the first question is, "Did you go anywhere for vacation?"

So, vacation time is finished and it's just time to talk about it.

So, they ask this question.

And there's different answers you can give.

The easiest.

"Yes, I did."

But, that's boring.

Easy is not always good because you want to be interesting when you talk.

So, someone asks you, "Did you go anywhere for vacation?"

Well, start by 'where did you go'?

"I went to…Busan."

Or "I went to Jeju."

Popular places people love to go to.

Or, you could just say, "I went to the beach."…cause people like the beach.

So, that's a place as well.

Now, "went to" is good to say.

You can also go with "visited".

And again, just 'what place did you visit'?

We have, "I visited Halla Mountain."

Or…

"I visited Haeundai Beach."

Those are all good places to visit.

But now, sometimes you can't go on vacation.

Something stops you from going on vacation.

And, if that happens, you can use this phrase.

We have, "No, I had to…"

And we say, "I had to…" because that means something stopped you.

So now, it could be, "No, I had to work."

Ugh…

Or…

"No, I had to save money."

Because if you need to save money, vacation is not a good idea.

Now, let's look at some more examples of using these.

The question was…

"Did you go anywhere on vacation this year?"

Answers can be…

"I went to the U.S.A."

Or…

"I visited Beijing."

Or…

"I was too busy to go anywhere."

Ok, now that we talked about 'where we go' for vacation, we're going to talk about

'what we do' when we're on vacation.

Alright…

And so, when that happens, we have this question here:

"What did you do on vacation?"

Because we go somewhere, but now we have to do something.

Now, the answers are not…like before, with the "I went to…", "I visited".

Alright…

You got to think a little more, but it's still easy.

You start with 'I', of course.

But now, 'doing something', you need a verb.

So, you have to use 'past tense' verb, because vacation, it's finished.

So you have to say things like, "I swam…at the beach."

Or, "I swam in a pool."

Something…something like, "I hiked on a mountain."

Alright…

Just fill in what you were doing.

Ok…

Now, some people, when they go on vacation, they don't like to do many things.

For some, vacation is about being lazy.

So some people may just say, "Ahhh, vacation, I just rested."

That's time to relax.

Time to feel good again.

Ok…

Let's take a look at some more examples of these.

Now, this questions is…

"What did you do during your vacation?"

You can say…

"I swam at the beach."

Or maybe…

"I rode a boat to Jeju."

Or…

"I just relaxed and read a lot."

Ok, so there you have two good and easy questions about vacations.

You have the "Did you go anywhere for vacation?", and then the "What did you do on vacation?".

Now, good to ask these questions to people, but it's better to answer the questions

because that means you had vacation.

So, I hope you can talk about vacations and I hope you get to take many vacations yourself.

Alright, see you next time.

Thank you.

Uhh, Hi.

I'm Bill and what I have for you right now are three questions you can ask a foreigner

about their country.

Because, I know this.

People like to talk about where they're from.

It's easy and it's comfortable for us to do.

Now, the first question we have here is this: "What is the food like in your country?"

Now, many Korean people…they say, "Our food is spicy."

But now, some countries, they don't eat a lot of spicy food.

So, sometimes, they might say, "Our food is sweet."

Or even, they might answer, how do they make the food.

Something like, "Our food is grilled."

Or, "Our food is fried."

This is all possible answers.

Now, another thing is about the food…is they could talk about what food is popular.

Ok…

Now, just like this: "We eat a lot of…"

Now, I know from living in Korea, in Korea, "We eat a lot of kimchi."

Alright, it's true.

Everyday…even me.

But now, other countries maybe, like America, "We eat a lot of beef."

It's very popular.

Ok…

And…almost…not every day, but almost…it seems like that happens.

Or even, "We eat a lot of eggs."

Just 'what do you eat a lot of?'

Ok, let's look at next question.

Alright, now here is another question you can ask a foreigner about their country.

And it goes like this.

"What is your country famous for?"

This is just about what is popular in their country.

What do people do?

What do people know about?

Ok…

So now, I'm an American, so if someone were to ask me "What is America famous for?"

I could just answer like this: "Many people know Hollywood."

Ya, Hollywood, where America makes the movies.

Ok…

You can say, "Many people know Hollywood."

Or, it's ok.

"It's famous for Hollywood."

Ok…

Now, by 'it', I mean 'my country'.

So, my country, 'it's' famous for Hollywood.

We want to change it a bit…

We can talk about Canada.

"What is Canada famous for?"

Well, that's easy, we could do, "Many people know maple syrup."

Very tasty…Canadian food.

And also, "it's famous for maple syrup."

Ok…

So, these are two things that are equal that you can use to answer this question.

Ok, let's look at the last question, now.

Alright, now, here's our last question that will help you get a foreigner to tell you

about their home country.

And, it just goes like this: "What is there to see in your country?"

Kind of what is famous, again, but something to see.

Something to go see at.

Ok…

So now, what we have here is…the answer can go…

"People come to see…"

Now, if the person is form France, the easy answer is:

"People come to see Eiffel tower."

Or someone from China.

"People come to see the Great Wall."

Or again, maybe a Japanese person is visiting.

They can say, "People come to see Mount Fuji."

Now again, if you travel to another country and someone asks you about Korea, you can

just say, "People come to see Seoul."

Or, "People come to see Kyeongbuk Palace."

The famous things to see.

Alright, let's take a look at some examples.

Question one.

"What is the food like in your country?'

"We eat a lot of vegetables."

"Our food is mostly fired."

"We don't eat much fruit."

"What is your country famous for?"

"It's famous for ice hockey."

"Many people know about our mountains."

"It's famous for beautiful beaches."

"What is there to see in your country?"

"People come to see our old castles."

"People come to see our historical places."

"People come to see our modern cities."

Alright, so there you have three questions that you can ask a foreigner about their country.

It's a great way to start a conversation.

And it's also a great way to learn something about another place.

I hope this helps you and I hope you can try it soon. Thank you.

Craftsman Mari knows all there is to know about movement technology in Efteling – Efteling Fans - Duration: 17:17.

This is Mari.

He is 71 years old and a true Efteling Fan!

Mari has worked for Efteling for 40 years and is still involved.

Mari is also known as the Puppet Doctor.

Efteling is his life's work, that's what makes a true fan!

Mari, tell us about all the things you've made.

This is Efteling Fans.

I'm playing with Meccano.

I used to play with it a lot when I was a child.

I loved engineering.

That's also the reason I later went to work at Efteling as a technician.

Even there, we used boxes of Meccano to, for instance, find out what type of movement a...

puppet's arm had to make.

We always made it in miniature first and later on a larger scale.

That's how the puppets were made.

My successors still use boxes of Meccano to put small things together to see...

if it's right.

If children are interested in engineering, I'll get the boxes of Meccano down from the attic.

When we were children, we loved going to Efteling.

But you couldn't really call us fans.

We went there to play.

Almost everyone in Kaatsheuvel had a family season ticket, including us.

That meant that once a week, the contribution for the family season ticket was picked up.

There was a Fairytale Forest, but that didn't move as much as it does now.

The gnomes never moved.

There was a rowing and canoeing lake, the big playground and, of course, the sports fields.

Where the Witte Paard restaurant is now was actually the canteen.

We always had fun playing football there.

I have to say that I wasn't that good at football.

I have more of a passion for engineering.

And to tell you the truth, I'm better at it.

I didn't used to think about working at Efteling, like Efteling Fans do now.

As a technician at vocational school, I was given the choice of starting at the Shell vocational school

or going to Efteling.

Because Shell was too far away, I went for an interview at Efteling.

I sat at the table with two superiors from the Efteling Technical Department,...

the manager and the boss.

They asked me whether I could make a squirrel move.

I said: "I can do that."

I thought they were joking, so I immediately said I could do it.

Great, they said.

And I got the job straight away.

I started on 1 January 1972, in the Gnome Village, because that's where things had to move more.

That's where I started.

I have never had such a great job.

I soon got hooked and I had a great time.

I wouldn't want to have missed it.

Hang on a sec, I've still got something from the Gnome Village.

One of my first jobs was to build a chimney on this gnome's cottage.

I had set a beautiful, sleek little chimney neatly against the cottage.

I knew Anton Pieck would be coming by with Ton van de Ven.

He said: "Lovely! Have you got a stepladder?" Yes, I had that.

"Just put that up next to it."

I thought, whatever's going to happen next?

"Have you got a hammer, too?"

Yes, got that too.

So I get the hammer and he says: "Bash the chimney a couple of times."

So I bashed the chimney a couple of times, and then some more.

"Come back down", he says.

I look up and see the chimney looking very pitiful.

Then I had to go up to him and he shook my hand and said: "Look how nice you've...

made it."

I look at Ton van de Ven again, who had a little smile on his face and they walk away sniggering.

Afterwards, when I saw Anton Pieck's drawings, I only then understood what he meant.

Of course, I worked together with Ton van de Ven a lot.

Also making the gnomes move, I did that in the workshop with used materials because...

it wasn't allowed to cost much, of course.

Once they were working, I took them home with me,

which is unheard of now, someone taking gnomes home.

I did!

I took them home, put the plug in the socket and let them run for a bit.

My wife worked at Efteling, too, and was going to dress the gnomes.

She went with Ton van de Ven to buy material in an old shop in Tilburg.

You know, that musty material on bales.

In beautiful Anton Pieck colours, the true Anton Pieck colours.

So she dressed all the gnomes, then I tested them and that's...

how they came back to the Gnome Village.

If you take a look now, you can see those clothes still look nice on all the gnomes.

I also worked on Snow White, on the Goats' house, on the dragon.

It was a great time, really great.

I wouldn't want to have missed it.

Here we are at the Spookslot Haunted House.

That was a milestone for Efteling but also for me as a person.

It was a wonderful job!

Sometimes the problem cropped up that in terms of budget, things didn't work out...

the way we wanted them to.

At one point we had a coffin that had to be made, but with nothing in it.

That would be very annoying, we said to one another.

That's not possible, it just wouldn't look right!

We'll make something in our own time. We'll work on it in the evenings in the...

workshop and try it out on Sunday because their won't be a manager around then, so it might work.

On Sunday morning my colleague, Henk Smulders, and I walked to the Spookslot Haunted House...

carrying the doll and we stumbled across our boss, Bart Jutte.

So I say: "Oh, Henk, now we'll have to think up an excuse."

Mr Jutte: "What have you got there?

I've never seen that in the plans before."

"No, but you will, we're still working on it.

You'll see for yourself that it was somewhere in the plans."

In the end, when everything was working and was programmed, Ton van de Ven said:

"Oh, I'm so happy that all those little details still got added."

Meaning those figures in the coffin too, of course.

In 1980, on Princess Juliana's birthday, a parade was held for the last time...

at Soestdijk Palace.

Efteling is quite royalist, so we took the train and the carriages to the palace and drove through the palace garden.

At one point, Princess Juliana also boarded the train, of course.

We had a wonderful day there and at the end of the day I received this nice photo...

with me in it as the conductor, next to Princess Juliana.

I could ride the train as well because besides my work as a technician, I also played...

the train driver.

It was really great!

This is Carousel square, which brings back another wonderful memory,...

Anton Pieck's 90th birthday.

We went to pick up Anton Pieck in the town where he lived with a big coach but it was a surprise for him.

The bus drove to Kaatsheuvel and on the way Anton Pieck popped up with all the little scenes he had created.

All the employees had dressed up just like Anton Pieck had sketched and drawn them.

He loved it.

When we arrived here, we took a big picture of Anton Pieck's

pet project, the Carousel.

I didn't have to do any work on it, a bit of maintenance and greasing, but when you look at...

how it moves, it wasn't really necessary.

I didn't need the box of Meccano here.

We're standing in the museum.

The museum is my former workshop.

We actually developed many techniques here.

We also started with movement technology here.

In miniature with the gnomes and after that we moved to the Spookslot Haunted House.

The biggest step we have taken is the puppets in the Fata Morgana dark ride.

We even started to try to develop a marionette puppet that is controlled from above...

via bicycle cables.

In the end, it didn't work out and we quickly gave up on the idea.

Then we thought, if we have to make 150 or 140 puppets and we've got to fill them with engineering...

it will have to be something that can be built fast.

It took us more than a year to develop a puppet with a lot of movements...

in the body, more than 20 movements, while the propulsion takes place underneath.

It was a brilliant development.

You could set up a warehouse like a box of Meccano,

which you could take parts out of to put figures together, and it worked.

From that moment on, we knew the Fata Morgana dark ride would be delivered on time.

We used different kinds of technologies for the Fata Morgana dark ride.

Pneumatics, pneumatic propulsion using cylinders and air.

For instance, the blinking of the eyes, which is very fast and is quite easy to achieve.

We applied the same weights and forces and made the eyes blink with impulses.

It worked fantastically!

Hydraulic, propelled with oil cylinders.

That makes it easy to have something move but it has its disadvantages.

We also developed wooden disks.

We were even able to apply for a patent on the combination of engineering with the drive.

They called us the 'Puppet Doctors'.

Henk Smulders and Mari van Heumen had become the Puppet Doctors.

This is the marketplace and all sorts of things go on at the marketplace.

Ton's drawings were beautiful but they were drawings that look good as pictures on the wall.

They are still lifes.

Here at the marketplace you can see the fruit vendor.

He looked great in the drawing and Ton told us exactly what kind of atmosphere he wanted.

The fruit vendor had to sell his wares to a customer.

Ton talked about it

and we made sure that's how it was.

There were no sketches of the movements, we thought them up ourselves.

Ton thought it was great.

The Magicians, for instance, move most.

The rug salesman also has a few movements as he has to walk along.

Those are the puppets that needed to be able to make more movements.

Especially figures that needed to move their hips, and look around, these are the ones that...

move most.

When I look at the scene with the prisoners are sitting, we had to get the hips and buttocks...

moving.

Scenes like that take a lot of time to work out.

How do you get the hips to move in such a way that people will think: "Look at them...

labouring away, look at them push.

Not a nice place to be, a prisoner in a mill like that."

They're actually very nice scenes to create.

On Friday evenings we used to grab a beer.

We'd chat about the week ahead, about which ideas we could use.

Could we make something else great?

Could we add some pranks?

Because pranks have to be in the shows.

With another beer came even more ideas.

Ton van de Ven used to pop in because he knew we'd be there.

Even our old director used to come.

They'd join us, grab a beer and let us do the talking.

They were always fun evenings.

I still think the Fata Morgana dark ride is one of the nicest attractions I was able to work on.

I bring my grandchildren here.

Whenever I'm at Efteling, I always visit the Fata Morgana dark ride.

I've been retired for 6 years now.

I can't let go of Efteling yet and Efteling perhaps can't let go of me yet.

After my career as a technician I became manager of Integral Security, which...

covered company security, emergency response and First Aid.

I gave a lot of training for that, too.

I still train first responders every now and then.

I also became a volunteer at Villa Pardoes, the lovely holiday accommodation...

for sick children who come here with their parents for a nice week's holiday.

There are also a lot of companies, like Efteling, that support this great project.

I'm back as a technician again.

I repair the go-karts, bikes and tractors here because the children love them.

There's nothing nicer than seeing a smile on the children's faces when they go off on a tractor or go-kart.

It's fantastic, isn't it?

Really great!

Leben in der Platte // Frag Dr. Wolle (English Subtitles) - Duration: 3:52.

DDR Museum, Dr. Wolle!?

♫ Ask Dr. Wolle ♫

In the East of Germany, on the outskirts of cities you can see

extensive development areas,

which apparently up until today are hired out very well.

Wasn't the DDR's house building program a great success?

Whoever passes through the former DDR's cities

sooner or later will see these vast development areas

with the so-called "Platte."

These are factory-made prefabricated parts made of concrete

that were put together,

hence the name "Platte [panel]."

And it is striking, too, that these areas

are made to look quite pretty,

and today one may ask themselves,

wasn't this a great success, this development program.

During the DDR's first two decades, of course there was construction,

the ruins were rebuilt

and new constructions were built,

but far, far too few.

The very urgent housing shortage

was an evil that was to be rooted out.

In those days, Erich Honecker proclaimed

that every DDR citizen would receive a flat,

and they started, on a large scale

to build these development areas out of thin air.

We are talking about 1.5 million new flats

which were built in the years between 1971 and 1989.

Home sweet home.

And those who received a flat like this

were usually very very happy.

However, some took the opportunity

to trade this flat,

their ideal were nice older buildings in Weißensee

or in Prenzlauer Berg, in particular,

because there they had everything, restaurants, bars, shops,

and that was what people were lacking so much in the development areas.

In a way, the bad state

of the residential environment, but also of the flat,

worsened from year to year

because these newly built flats were perceived as very monotonous.

Both the interior, which basically only allowed for standardised furniture,

and first and foremost the exterior.

In this regard, of course a lot has changed

after the German reunification.

A lot of effort was put into creating green spaces,

a food service industry, call boxes, postal service,

and so on and so forth.

What was perceived more in the West,

even praised in the West,

was the so-called social mixing;

that it was natural in the DDR

that on one floor there lived a professor,

and a blue-collar worker, and a retiree,

and a single mom with kids,

or whatever,

because the flats where distributed from a central place.

That people of all kinds of different social levels

or different social origin lived together

and formed a living-collective,

people were not aware at the time

that that's something special,

but today the development areas, as long as they weren't torn down,

are rented out very well,

just because they were repaired and green spaces were built and

the trees and bushes have had 30 or 40 years to grow.

But maybe that's already said a bit too much,

you can edit that again.

- Maybe you could also say that in some areas people miss the "Platte"?

No,

- No? I don't think so.

If you yourselves have questions for me

please leave a comment in the comment section.

I'm looking forward to your input.

Homecooking at Sori's Pt.1! - Duration: 11:54.

Sori's YouTube Channel

Ta-da! Hi, everyone!

Sori Not Sorry! Sori here!

So, I just finished up my practice,

and arrived at home.

I bear good news with me today,

which is...

A very very fresh...

crab!

Not a dog that barks but a crab! (pronunciations for dog and crab are similar in korean)

My absolute favorite dishes

are made from crabs.

I occasionally learn how to cook

as a hobby.

So today,

I would like to show you guys

of me cooking, not to mention

Cooking video is one of the more requested videos from comments.

Since I've got these crabs today

I would like to cook up some crab dishes in front of the camera.

So, the dish I am going to create today is...

is something I've never attempted before,

which is...

Kottkejim (Steamed crab)

(Gulp!) (Today's challenge: cook up a kottkejim)

It's a dish that I can't stop drooling,

by even just thinking about it.

So I looked up some recipes,

did research,

and prepared the required ingredients in advance.

Before we start going on cooking

I need to start prepping for kotkkejim sauce

So here are some ingredients needed to make the sauce.

Where should I begin? First of all...

1/2 of onion, some green onion

bean sprouts

I personally like cooking with bean sprouts,

So I'm gonna put plenty of them.

Gochujang, it's organic, (Korean chili paste)

organic doenjang, (Korean miso paste)

organic minced garlic,

chopped ginger,

some sugar from my mom,

mirin

this is mirin, right?

They call it mirin in Japan...

soy sauce, or shoyu

perilla oil, which was also hand pressed and given to me from mom.

And finally, gochugaru. (Korean chili flakes)

Also,

I wanted to have some "gondrae bap" (rice cooked with dried chicory) along with it....

So I want to attempt making it

So I bought some gondrae as well.

and finally, tonight's main event!

Seriously, super, duper

crabs, that were given to me!

So, I've been pondering what to make with these crabs,

and decided on kotkkejim, which will be my first attempt ever.

Are you as excited as I am?

I'll try to cook up something real nice.

would this be too much?

Maybe this much?

With this much...

With gondrae...

after rinsing them out in water...

(after rinsing the gondraes~)

start boiling'em! (Boil in hot water)

While gondres are boiling... I'll start

deconstructing the crabs?!

ugh... Deconstructing?!

As much as I like eating crabs, I feel so sorry for them.

So, I'm gonna start deconstructing crabs...

I'm so sorry, crabbies...

Please don't cry T_T

I'm not so sure if I'd do a good job.

First of all...

Start with a brush or a toothbrush like this...

(It starts with brushing up the carapace!)

Ah, I'm scared...

I'm just giving you a shower...

I'm just trying to scrub off some dirt!

So, phase 1 is complete...

Now

we're gonna crack this open...

place your fingers right here and split'em open...

Would I be able to do it?

Of course you can, Kim Sori, you've got this!

Hallelujah!

woah, check out these eggs inside.

The crab was filled with eggs!

woow

daebak!

So, what should I do with these?

This is... something.

that was some work!

So, now I'm

gonna repeat the same process for the other one.

This is super fresh!

Can you guys see?

(drool-inducing)

Can you feel the freshness?!

Ta-da!

The crabs are ready to go!

(Rinsing the rice~)

Gondrae!

These gondrae will...

hot!

Try to get rid of the excess water

(Remove excess moisture by wringing)

(Top the rice with soaked gondraes)

From here,

comes an important tip!

When you make gondrae rice,

You should drizzle some perilla oil.

So here comes the perilla oil you've seen before.

Pressed by my mom from Gangwon-Province.

(Perilla oil helps developing nutty flavor!)

That so fragrant!

just a little bit...

That smells so nice!

Fighting! Fighting!

I'm gonna proceed to the most important step: making sauce for kottkejim.

let's make the sauce~

Chop up onion and green onions first~

Here are some chopped up onion and green onions,

and now I'm gonna start introducing some other ingredients on top.

(Sori's signature kottkejim sauce recipe!)

some garlic...

1 heaping spoon.

(Add 1 heaping tablespoon of minced garlic)

Then, some ginger!

For ginger...

it's gonna be 1 teaspoon

So, you don't need much...

(1 teaspoon of chopped ginger)

Maybe this much.

Some gochujang

1 tablespoon of it.

(1 tablespoon of gochujang)

Doenjang

1/2 tablespoon of doenjang

And now...

sugar

1 tablespoon of sugar

And I'll add some soy sauce,

3 tablespoons of it.

3 tablespoons of soy sauce.

1 tablespoon of mirin...

and 1 tablespoon of mirin.

1 tablespoon of gochugaru

1 tablespoon of gochugaru pour it down the mix.

Finally add a cup of water... and finished!

Now, we're gonna mix'em up

so they get to know each other.

Sori's signature sauce finished!

Guess who's coming for dessert? Ann Reardon How To Cook That - Duration: 6:39.

Welcome to How To Cook That I'm Ann Reardon and last time we were in the

mini kitchen you challenged me to make mini donuts and this time I've had heaps

of requests for teeny-weeny apple pie. So to make that we're gonna need a mini

tin of pie, some cinnamon, one mini egg, butter, flour, baking powder and sugar. Add

the butter to the flour and then you want to cut that into the flour using a

knife to make the pieces of butter ... ahhh no!

Oh dear, that's bad I don't even have a broom

in my mini kitchen yet just wait and I will make a vacuum ... there we go vacuum it

up. It's not a great vacuum I can still see flour on the floor but never mind.

Fresh butter, more flour let's try that again ...

and as I was saying you need to cut the butter into the flour to make the pieces

of butter smaller, this is so much harder to do when it's on a mini scale. Then you

rub the butter into the flour using your thumb and your finger and keep doing

that until it looks like fine bread crumbs.

Add the baking powder and the sugar and stir those together.

Then you want to add in your egg and stir it and then knead it together so

that it comes together to form a dough. Clean some space on your counter and

spread out some plastic wrap and then we're going to roll the dough out on

that. Having the plastic wrap underneath just makes it easier to lift the pastry

up and put it into the pie dish without it tearing otherwise this would be

virtually impossible to do with the pastry being this thin. Remove the

plastic wrap and then using a sharp knife trim all the way around the edge

of your pie dish. Now you want to keep that extra pastry that we're cutting off

here and we'll use that to make the lid. Now add your tinned apple into the dish

I like to use the whole tin and pile it up so that the pie is really full and

this pie apple has no added sugar it's just Apple so if you like your pie a bit

sweeter then you can add some sugar in here. Sprinkle on some cinnamon and then

roll out the rest of the pastry and again use the plastic wrap so that you

can lift that up and place it over the top of the apple and then just push it

down gently around the sides and then peel off the plastic. Trim the excess off

and then use a fork to seal the lid on to the base so that you're just pushing

the pastry together from the lid to the one that we have on the base there so

that the apples don't overflow out of it this is a very full pie! Make a couple of

cuts in the top of the pie for steam to escape and then sprinkle the top with

some sugar. Light your oven and then add the pie

carefully in so that it can bake. While that's baking you can write in the

comment section for me what you'd like to see next for the next teeny-weeny

challenge 😁 Last time there were so many mini apple pie requests so that's why

I'm doing this one, so you get to choose what I baked in the mini kitchen. Once

that's smelling done you can pull it out of the oven and blow out the candles so

we don't burn down the mini kitchen. Cut yourself a slice of apple pie and then

put that on to your plate. Then just carefully add a dollop of cream ... I can't

really dollop cream when it was this mini it's not heavy enough to drop

off the spoon. This is so much easier to do in real size than it is in mini.

I wonder who I should invite over to eat this ... how about a couple of cute chicks?

Hello chickens there's a fresh apple pie on the table for you ... look up...

Do you think you can find the pie on the table? They're just wandering around pecking at

the floor, I guess that's what chicks usually do.

I think she spotted it! Oh, my goodness, she's on the chair ... how cute 💕

The bigger ones found it and it looks like he's gonna guts the lot 🇳🇿 and not share any with

the little one.

Okay chickens, just so you know, it is not polite to stand on the dinner table

when you're invited over to someone's house. I think we need some more polite

guests next time ... if you have any suggestions who I should invite to the

mini kitchen next time I bake put that in the comments below. Subscribe to How

To Cook That here, click here for more minis, here for the latest video and here

for 3D cakes. Make it a great week and I'll see you on Friday 😊
