Was Old ROBLOX Really That Good?
Over the years, ROBLOX has gone through many changes, trust me, I know, I made a top 10
best and worst roblox updates of all time video in EARLY 2014, and people in the comments
are STILL asking about updates that came after 2014, like when they took away tickets or
whatever the heck is anthro or the forum removal or anything else that got people really angry.
And for the same reason I complimented my Top 10 Worst ROBLOX Updates of All Time video
with a Top 10 Best ROBLOX Updates of All Time, and the fact that the worst updates video
has more views than the best updates video it's always been the evidence that shows that
negativity shines brighter than positivity.
People tend to highlight the bad, because it sticks out more.
When ROBLOX is just conducting business as usual and releasing okay updates that are
up to par, nobody's gonna go out of their way to applaud such a thing, because they're
doing their job, they're doing what was expected.
Typically, when someone finds ROBLOX, they're much younger, and naive should i say... they
don't really know what's going on around them, they're not quite woke or privy to the shenanigans
that goes on behind the scenes.
This is where people romanticize and look back with rose-tinted glasses on their version
of old ROBLOX.
I'd like to give a disclaimer right now.
I joined ROBLOX on April 18th, 2007; nearly ELEVEN YEARS AGO! and whenever people say
a certain year was good and ROBLOX sucks now, i laugh!
Whenever you joined ROBLOX, you perceive that as the best year, because you were young and
you were new and everything was fresh, it was exciting and cool.
But like anything else in your life, it gets dull and you get used to it after a while.
Do you still watch Dora the Explorer?
Do you still wet your diaper?
My point is, there is no such thing as a Good ROBLOX and a Bad ROBLOX.
ROBLOX has always existed and transformed and gone through so much.
I hear this all time, people always tend to say "THE YEAR I JOINED ROBLOX WAS BETTER,
ROBLOX SUCKS NOW!"
People wanna travel in a time machine to when they were younger and were new to ROBLOX and
was oblivious to all its flaws.
What they don't realize is that they're looking back with rose-tinted glasses.
Many older people love to say that high school was the best years of their life, but you
ask a high schooler and most of them won't agree.
Not until they look back at it retrospectively.
This connects to what I ABSOLUTELY cannot stand.
It's this strange obsession with a time none of you ever experienced.
I'm talking about 2008 ROBLOX.
Pthere's people who download the old roblox clients to see those . See, that's fine, you
can pretend like you're playing ROBLOX in 2008, I don't see the harm in that!
What really grinds my gears is when people start acting like it's just the greatest;
people talk about 2008 roblox like it was the golden age, a heavenly wonderful time
of the past, people obsess over round studs, the old happy home in robloxia, crossroads,
a throwback to a simpler time.
Not only was this laggy mess the greatest, but then they go on to say that it has only
been downhill since then.
You know, if I was the one saying this stuff, it'd make sense, after all, I joined in Early
2007, there was no hats, no shirts, no pants, no robux, no builders club, all we had were
very simple games and t-shirts, they only covered your torso.
My User ID is 20963, which means i'm the 20,963th account created on ROBLOX.
To put that in perspective, there's much more than that amount of people playing Jailbreak
at any given moment.
That's how small ROBLOX was when I joined.
But I am not the one saying all this stuff.
It is people who joined anytime after 2008!
There are people who joined anywhere from 2009 to 2013 to 2018! 10 YEARS AFTER 2008!
Some of these people weren't even born yet, and they're just obsessed with 2008 like it
was just the greatest thing ever!
It's this misinformation that gets spread around like a horrible disease.
Look, here's the truth.
ROBLOX was
a laggy, buggy mess for many years.
Sure, the community may have seemed more naive and innocent, but I'm gonna tell you something
right now, from my own experience.
In 2008, people were complaining that ROBLOX was going down the toilet, this comment system
allowed these quote noobs to spam and these new guests ruined every game.
People would always delete your creations in building games and the value of tickets
continued to go down.
Of course, these issues seem trivial now, but my point is, people always look back on
the past as being better, because you ignore the flaws and just look at the positive.
Right now, 2018, some kid is gonna look back on it in a few years and say, YEAH, THAT WAS
THE GOLDEN AGE OF ROBLOX.
They're not wrong or right, being that it's an opinion.
The reality is, ROBLOX never had a golden age, whenever you joined ROBLOX, that's when
you enjoyed it the most, you were not used to it yet, it was brand new, rip it right
out the plastic like a new game.
Over time, it became less fun, and that's part of where this mindset comes from.
There's always gonna be annoying kids on any game you play in any year you play it.
Don't even get me started on people lying about their join date to try to look cool,
it doesn't matter when you joined.
If you had any common sense, you would be gone by now if you really joined back then.
You don't wanna be like me, some old man trying to survive in the modern world, nah, now go
back and appreciate what you have before
it's gone.
