in the title of the message today check your gear how many of you know when you
do different things there's always a final check my wife and I many many
years ago got certified for scuba diving and it was kind of funny because one of
the reasons she decided to do it was because Greg Fritz's wife Carol some of
you might remember Greg he's that tall guy who looks like John Bevere but he's
not John Bevere because people walk up to him and go you know you look like
John Bevere and he's like I'm Greg fritz anyway his wife Carol is like 4 foot
tall and and so her daughters when she when her daughters were in school her
daughter's came home one day and they said mom are you a midget cuz my friends
all think you're a midget and and so she said no midgets are and I don't even
know what the official description of a midget is so anyway but when my wife
found out that four-foot little Carol Fritz could go scuba diving she was like
okay if Carol can do it I can do it so we went through the classes we went
through the courses and of course you know there's a lot of testing and a lot
of checks that you do before you get in the water because you've got oxygen and
you're going underneath the water and you have to make sure first of all that
you have air in the tank you know so you look at the tank you make sure your
connections are good you make sure your buddy breathing tube is good because
there's a another I've never got the technical name for buddy breathing but
in case your buddy runs out of oxygen they can grab your hose a separate hose
on your vest and then they can breathe until you both get to the top of the get
out of the water so there's all these checks that you go through people that
do rock climbing people hunting hunting is coming into season right now a lot of
guys are out hunting and I remember one of my first trips hunting as a teenager
I must have been about I want to say 14 14 or 15 I was back in New York and we
were going deer hunting and I get all you know you get the preparation you get
the boots and you get the gloves and you sometimes you use the deer scent and you
get your gun and everything is oiled and ready and you've target shot and you all
the preparation that goes in you know what they forgot to tell me
standing there six o'clock in the morning and they said there was a drive
there's gonna be a drive these guys are gonna come through here anything that's
gonna come up it'll come up the hill and got it it did exactly that but they
never told me how big the horns had to be before I could shoot it because I
knew there was in LA and I knew so I see this little spike buck come up the hill
I'm standing there he's looking at me I'm looking at him and I'm like I don't
know if I should shoot it is it legal can I go to jail I didn't shoot it about
five minutes later you know he walks away and I hear boom boom boom I'm like
somebody got my buck so I wasn't prepared and they didn't tell me it was
my very first time to go out hunting so it was really kind of funny and I've
never seen another deer since then so anyway I need to go with some of y'all
because y'all know how to hunt out here actually I've never hunted here in
Colorado so the last time I hunted was in New York many many years ago but so
there's always a preparation right there's always a preparation now after
these meetings that we had with pastor Hagin and Lynette last week some of you
may be experiencing a second attack some of you may be experiencing where you
heard the word you receive the word may be hands were laid on you and maybe your
healing wasn't as drastic as doc Stewart's as noticeable or immediate I
know a number of people on Tuesday night raised their hand and they said yes they
could tell an immediate difference in their body some could tell that things
were getting better in their body but just what happens if you weren't
instantly healed does that mean that you didn't get healed or get anything no no
no everybody say no those are lies that come to us from the enemy those are lies
that come to us from the devil because the scripture says now go with me to
first Timothy chapter 6 verse 12 because now is the time you get to fight the
fight of faith and I heard so many testimonies when I
was in Bible School and and different people sometimes
people talked about there was a class called Christ the healer in the Bible
school that we went to we went to Rhema many years ago and one of the classes
taught her Christ the healer and some people talk they were more sick during
that class in any other class Christ the healer you'd think whoa why well because
right here first Timothy chapter 6 verse 12 says fight the good fight for the
true faith hold tightly to eternal life to which God has called you which you
have confessed so well before many witnesses so what does that mean it
means that if there's a fight there's an enemy arrayed against you did you know
that now how many of you know thankfully we're not fighting the devil in our own
strength we're not fighting him in our own power
or in our own capability thus the title of this message check your gear we're
gonna get to talking a little bit about the armor of God for just a moment
because I believe it'll encourage us in that second attack maybe some of you
prayed maybe you sensed something the Spirit of God the healing anointing
working in your body and then the symptoms came back and then you first
thought as well I guess I didn't get anything I thought I was healed but now
the symptoms are back and so I guess I didn't maybe not maybe it's not work no
this is where we fight the good fight of faith so it means that there's an enemy
first of all arrayed against us then it means that he won't give up easily as
you know the devil's not going to give up easily
he doesn't want to give up ground he might challenge you or me when we take a
stand on the Word of God he may try to come against us to test to steal the
word because he doesn't want the Word of God to bear fruit in your life he's
afraid of the word bearing fruit in our lives that's why he steals that's why he
comes against us that's why he tries to hold back from us the things that God
has said are ours and he does it through our thoughts we're gonna talk about that
in just a moment and so maybe maybe you heard a message
on patience and it was like all of a sudden you had
no patience and it had every opportunity in the world to lose your temper or to
get impatient to cuss out that driver who just cut you off or whatever it is
there's all kinds of opportunity why because when you hear the word the enemy
tries to come to steal it we know that from the parable of the sower when the
sower sowed the words some of the word landed on the on the on the pathway and
it didn't bear any fruit at all and you go through that story well one of the
first things that the enemy tries to do is keep the word from getting root in
your life and he may do it through a feeling he may do it through a symptom
he may do it through a circumstance he might do it through something you see
you feel you here and he tries to get you into this sense realm and get out of
the faith realm and this is where many Christians lose what God has desired for
them what many Christians lose what God has already done in their life so praise
God for the instant I know the Bible talks about suddenly he remembers seeing
that in the book of Acts suddenly the Spirit of God fell suddenly this
happened so there are suddenly but there are also times when things take a little
bit more time and that's okay don't be condemned it's not that God's holding is
back you just need to be in that place do you keep that faith switch turned on
to where you're receiving what you believe from the Word of God so it's a
good fight because we win amen through Christ we win so then the fight is to
stay in faith the fights to stay in faith because he's trying to get us out
of faith he's trying to get us into the realm of the symptoms into the realm of
the feelings into the realm of looking here what I can see feel touch smell
here whatever it is he tries to get us here rather than wait a minute here's
what the Word of God says and this is what I believe amen
so in Ephesians go to Ephesians chapter 6 and you're gonna have to look these
scriptures up on your own because we're going to read a few of them through fees
chapter 6 but verse 10 beginning in verse 10 says finally my brethren be
strong in the Lord and the power of his might put on the whole armour of God
that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil listen you and I
need to quit trying to stand in our own strength amen we need to quit trying to
stand in our own strength and learn to stand in the strength of the Lord Jesus
Christ because we live in this physical realm and we think ok I can do this I
can do this I can do this it has to be me I can do this I can do no no it's
realizing who we are in we can expect his strength to be our strength we can
expect his power to be released in our life and through our life because he's
able to make a stand it's not us it's our position in him how many times I
think of a couple of examples where the Bible encourages the people or God said
stand still or somebody said stand still the Word of God admonishes that stand
hold your place there in ephesians for a moment go to Exodus chapter 14 Exodus
chapter 14 way there at the beginning of the Old Testament it says but Moses told
the people don't be afraid just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you
today the Egyptians you see today you'll never
see again the Lord Himself will fight for you just stay calm I like that in
the moon living translation how many of you seen those t-shirts over the last
few years I think it's been the last few years now
it's just stay calm stay calm carry on stay calm
you know peace on stay calm canoe on whatever your favorite thing is you know
people just say I look that up I thought where did that come from
do any of you know where that came from England there you go 1939 England was
preparing the people because the talk of war two was coming and the talk of
Hitler and being air raids and all that kind of stuff and they're in their land
in their country and so it was a an ad it was a what was it
motivation less of what I was looking for a motivational poster that tried to
encourage the people keep calm and carry on and that's pretty good way back in
the Bible God said stay calm he can bring calm to our troubled life he can
be bring calm to our troubled minds are our troubled soul are whatever
situations circumstances whatever storms that were going through he can bring
that calm that we need to be able to stand when you come to the end of
yourself keep calm and stand on keep calm and
stay calm stand and see the salvation of God
another passage I think it was referred to with pastor Hagin when he was here
second chronicles chapter 20 when King Jehoshaphat was being attacked on all
sides by these all these nations were coming against him and they said what
are we going to do and they began to seek the Lord and the Lord spoke to them
in verse 17 second chronicles 20 17 it says you'll not even need to fight take
your positions then stand still and watch the Lord's
victory for he is with you o people of Judah don't be afraid don't be
discouraged go out against them tomorrow for the Lord is with you so you know you
might be hearing some of the things and phrases that I'm using and you might be
saying ok so am I supposed to stand am I supposed to fight am I supposed to rest
what am I supposed to do yes you do it all you say how do I do that all at the
same time well we stand fighting to stay in faith staying at rest we stand
fighting to stay in faith you say to stay in faith there's an arena of faith
I remember and I shared this reason the Bible School students last week I
remember pastor mark Hankins giving this illustration and and it's just it's
humorous the way different times in his life that God has spoken to him when
he's watching sports and somehow he was watching and I don't know what the
competition was but these football players had to do all kinds of different
things and so he had this thought he's like man I would not want to meet that
guy in a dark alley I would not want to me that was just a natural thought he
had I would not want to meet that guy somewhere because he could knock my
lights out he was he's a big 250 300-pound football player
then this guy gets in the water and he sank he couldn't hardly swim and so he
Pastor Mark hang has had this thought and he thought if I did have to meet him
I'd meet him in the pool because I could beat him in the pool where's your arena
see that's what the devil tries to do the devil tries to get you out of the
arena of faith so you're in the arena of faith you stand that the faith we've
talked about faith over the last few weeks faith has to do with believing in
your heart and confessing with your mouth so you stay in that arena of faith
so in that arena there is a stand but there is a fight to stay there because
the enemy what's he doing he's giving you all kinds of thoughts he's giving
you all kinds of things to look at to distract us and get us out of the arena
of faith where he could whip us but if you stay in the arena of faith he can't
whip you amen you notice that scripture in Ephesians chapter 6 verse 11 when it
said put on the whole armour of God that you may be able to stand against the
wiles of the devil that word wiles in the Greek means method of trickery
method of trickery that's according to the Strong's Concordance in the
definition and the Strong's so over in 2nd Corinthians we see another
description see some of these scriptures when you see them put together then you
begin to realize huh 2nd Corinthians chapter 2 verse 10 and 11 says now
whom you forgive anything I also forgive for if indeed I have forgiven anything I
have forgiven that ah that on for your sakes in the presence of Christ lest
Satan should take advantage of us for we're not ignorant of his devices and
that word devices in the Strong's is no Emma no Emma and it has to do with a
perception which has to do with our mind that's why the King James translation
translates it into device or mind or thought so how does the enemy work he
works through a thought so you had hands laid on you now you have a thought I
guess I didn't get anything because I didn't feel anything I guess I didn't
get anything because it wasn't instantaneous like docks or like some
others I guess so that thought comes and you think you thought that thought you
didn't think that thought that was the enemy who thought put that thought in
your brain so we need to identify those thoughts when those thoughts come we
need to say well wait a minute where did that come from because when the Lord
gives us his word we have a choice we either grab a hold of that word we hold
onto that word or we let it go because of a thought thoughts then lead to
speaking so whatever we say and so this is so very important because if we don't
give voice to those thoughts they die now that let me say that again if we
don't give voice to those thoughts they die they can't root they can't grow they
can't become a reality in our life because we're not agreeing with them
with our words the scripture is very very clear Matthew chapter 6 verse 31
says don't worry by saying okay so this is on the negative side don't worry by
saying I like the King James translation because I remember when I first started
as a Christian when I first got saved I had the King James Bible and so I had
many years of the v's in the I had scriptures memorized talking
backwards like they did in the Old English you know and some of you may
still have the King James and that's your favorite Bible then I grew it came
to find the New King James translations which was a little more modern and and
then now I use a lot the New Living Translation I like because it puts it in
a English in a phraseology that we can understand and in this day and age but
the King James translation says take no Thought saying okay so what happens you
receive prayer you step out in faith you say father I thank you according to your
word I'm healed or father thank you I receive wisdom or I receive guidance I
received Direction father I thank you whatever it is that you begin to step
out in faith and receive from the Lord so now you have you've taken that
thought here's what the Word of God says concerning my situation you take that
thought by speaking it out now the same thing happens in the negative you can
take the thought of the enemy by speaking it out so in this case in
Matthew chapter 6 verse 31 he's saying don't worry saying what are we going to
do what are we going to eat where are we going to get our food from where are we
going to get our clothing from how are we gonna have shelter he said take no
Thought saying but you can flip that in the positive or the faith side and you
can say father I take this thought as God revealed his thoughts to us in what
in his word so when he's given us his word we can take those thoughts by
saying father thank you when hands were laid on me I believe the healing
anointing went into my body and it's working a cure that's what pastor Hagin
said to say my father I think so you can walk away not feel any different you're
gonna have these thoughts come into your brain that's they see you didn't get
anything so you don't feel any better you can't raise your arms up like doc
Stewart could or you couldn't do this or you can't do that you just say shut up
devil I believe I've received the healing anointing it's
working in my life a cure you stand in that arena of faith no matter what it
looks like no matter what it feels like no matter what the symptoms say no
matter what the report says you stand and take no other thought by saying
other than the Word of God when you and I speak the Word of God that's our faith
a lot of times folks say well I'm not sure I have enough faith I'm not sure I
have enough faith what can i what can I do well I like the scripture in and I'm
getting ahead of myself where is it is it towards
I'll get to it I'll get to it alright so the thoughts may come and thoughts of
weakness thoughts of failure thoughts of keep you might as well give up thoughts
of it didn't work thought so well I thought I'd try that
now listen you don't try it amen we don't try now let's just see if
this works or not if that's your attitude it's not gonna work
amen why didn't God do it no were you I didn't really know I thought I would
just go up and see if I felt something and if I felt something things would be
better no you'd come in faith and you can receive right where you are this
morning the presence of God is we were worshiping is here this morning the
tangible anointing you can just reach up and say father I need your comfort
father I need and thank you for healing I thank you for wisdom and guidance and
direction I thank you for my my husband or my wife I thank you for my children
whatever what is it that you're looking for me to do to God for help we were
singing about the Lord restoring broken hearts his presence is here to do that
and you don't have to have someone lay hands on you amen praise God there's
lots of different ways for healing to come so you can receive right where you
are any time amen so these thoughts that
come thoughts of weakness I read this recently in Rick Renner's sparkling gems
he's gets a devotional 365 days of the year and he takes different passages of
Scripture and breaks down the Greek words and and he talked about the phrase
in the Lord be strong in the Lord and the power of his might that we read
there in Ephesians chapter 6 and here's what he says he says it gives us it
means there's a special infusion of dynamic supernatural power that can be
found only in one place in the Lord you can't get this strength he goes on to
say by reading books or listening to CDs or mp3s the materials help direct us to
where the power is but the power is found through our personal
relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ so when we're in Christ Rick Renner says
the power is locked up in the Lord much like you have a physical address you
have a house you live in a place you're in that house when you're home right now
you're in church right so when you're in Christ that means his strength is your
strength because you're in him we sometimes have to remind ourselves of
that because it can be easy to forget because we live in this physical body
but then if we remember I'm in him his strength is my strength
I am strengthened in the Lord Rick went on to say this he said the fact that we
reside in Jesus along with God's power can be somewhat likened to water and
fish sharing the same space in an aquarium the water and fish are
definitely different in substance but they both reside in the same tank the
tank serves as the home for these two substances that are held simultaneously
within its walls therefore the fish doesn't have to
release its faith to get into the water for it already perpetually lives in the
water so what does that mean for us as Christians so by faith this morning we
access the strength and the power that's already on the inside of us we access
healing I love that word that God gave to Pablo on Wednesday night in our
prayer time the network the atmosphere so you're in this atmosphere you're in
the presence of God things happen when you're in the presence of God answers
come to questions healing comes God ministers when your heart when my heart
is open to him and we say Lord we're we're here we humble ourselves before
you it's not anything a man can it's the call upon this church it's the
call for us as a body of believers in this area to experience the manifested
presence of God not only for us but for those that are outside these four walls
it's part of who we are okay now just get back real quick let me finish this
up Ephesians chapter 6 notice that the Bible says in verse 13
therefore take up the whole armour of God check your gear that you may be able
to withstand in the evil day and having done all to stand so how are we to stand
so the scripture goes through the different descriptions of the armor that
they used to wear back in Paul's day so the first part of the armor listed is
the belt of truth now the belt of truth means that our life is built on the
truth of the word of God that's where it has to start it has to start with what
is your life built on is your life built on everything else or is your life you
know built on what CNN says or CBS says or Fox News says or what the latest the
medical reports are saying what is your life built upon is your life built upon
or is your life built upon the truth of God's Word it's the truth of his word
that will change us it's the truth of his word being built into our lives that
will change us and keep us strong so our life has to be based on the Word of God
the truth of his word others have said that that belt because it joined the
armor on the top and the armor on the bottom that it had to do with filling in
those gaps some of us said that it has to do with the emotions that we've
learned to rule our emotions there again the enemy comes with a thought our
emotions can kind of go here haywire and so we have to learn to rule our emotions
however you want to look at it the baby bottom line is your life and my life has
to be built on the truth of the word of God amen
the breastplate of righteousness it reminds us to constantly be aware of our
position in Christ so that righteousness is not my righteousness is I'm righteous
because of what Jesus did I have a right relationship I have a right place the
right position I have access to the presence of God because of the blood of
Jesus and his sacrifice for me that's what I have because so sometimes I just
have to remind myself wait a minute I'm a son of God ladies you have to say I'm
a daughter of God and watch what happens because you remind yourself of who you
are in Christ the gospel of peace means we're always looking outward always
looking for ways to share what God has done in our life with those that are
around us the shield of faith some have said that the roman shield was large
enough to cover the entire shoal soldier's body I mean that was a that's
a pretty good sized shield from top to bottom from head to toe that's how big
the shield was we stand in faith that's part of our stand that's part of
standing against that second attack that's part of standing against those
doubts and those thoughts that come and holding up the Word of God and speaking
out the word and remember that's what I was looking for Matthew 17:20 you know
Jesus said you don't have enough faith sometimes we feel like I I don't know if
I have enough faith item.i sure if I have enough faith what what about this
and we get so caught up on these amounts and look at what Jesus said he said I
tell you the truth in Matthew 17:20 if you have faith even as small as a
mustard seed now don't get this lost in the translation if you have faith as
small as a mustard seed you could say don't miss that little phrase faith is
evidenced by what you say if you had faith as little so you'd be I don't know
if I have enough faith for this situation or this circumstance if you
have faith he gave us that little any tiny mustard seed said that's all
the faith you need and you will say so again refers to our words what are you
saying what are you saying that's really
releasing your faith it's revealing our faith by what comes out of our mouth
stay in the arena of faith continue to speak the word so he said you can say to
this mountain move from here to there and it would move and nothing would be
impossible Wow so faith will move a mountain I said this a couple of weeks
ago someone said it this way I think was mark Hankins said it this way he said
faith might not prevent a mountain and all of a sudden you have a mountain in
your way he said but your faith can move that mountain and if God wanted that
mountain to be there he wouldn't have told you you could move it well maybe
God's just allowing this to teach me something or gods allow no no get you
got to get past that God's not allowing anything you have an enemy who's trying
to steal kill and destroy you have an enemy who's trying to steal the Word of
God from you you need to just get mad and say devil take your hands off in
Jesus name Amen Mountain be removed in the name of Jesus
and it has to be removed all right the helmet of salvation real
quick it covers our head it covers our soul the breastplate covers our spirit
our chest in this area this is where our spirit is faith is of the heart and it's
evidenced by what we say but hope works in our soul a helmet of salvation
reminds us hope is important we're gonna be teaching about that in our Bible
school the difference between faith and hope a lot of times people are in Hope
when they should be in faith hope is a good painter a good blueprint a good
picture it shows you what God desires but faith says I receive that
and then it happens in your life amen then of course the sword of the Spirit
which is the word of God and and we released the Word of God psalms says the
word the praises of God are like a sword in our mouth the word of God can be
released through our lives through our mouth just by simply speaking don't give
up your hope don't give up your faith don't agree with the devil and doubt in
question and wonder why this and why that holdfast hebrews says to the
profession of your faith hold fast to the Word of God by speaking it out and
declaring the healing anointing is working whether it feels like it or not
praise God for the sudden leaves but also just stand there and praise God
that he's working in your body and recovery has happened I read a few of
the scriptures in the New Testament as they went they were healed recovery the
believers will lay hands on the sick and they shall
