S. Korean gov't to tighten inspections to prevent ant infestations - Duration: 1:51.

Over the past week, red fire ants have been found in major South Korean ports.

After thousands of these venomous insects were discovered in Busan on Wednesday, the

government vowed to tighten inspections.

Ko Roon-hee introduces to us the new measures.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on Friday it would tighten

inspections after more than three-thousand red fire ants were discovered at Busan Port

on Wednesday.

"We will closely inspect containers carrying 32 items, including coconut shells and lauan

wood.

This is because these containers are highly likely to carry red fire ants."

The ministry also said it would urge importers to voluntarily carry out disinfection work…if

they are shipping products from viable habitats for red fire ants…such as China.

This is the fourth time this year a group of fire ants was discovered in South Korea.

In February, one red fire ant was discovered at Incheon port.

In May, two red fire ants were found.

And on Monday, more than seven-hundred of the venomous ants were discovered at Pyeongtaek

Port…before the thousands found in Busan.

There are worries about discovering a queen ant…because this means there is a high possibility

of reproduction and further spread across the country.

However, according to quarantine officials, there have been no signs of a queen ant as

of yet.

An expert in this field said immature queen ants were found in Busan...but they have failed

to grow.

"Immature versions of queen ants, also known as princess ants, were found at Busan port.

However, it seems like they have failed to fly…which is necessary to mate with male

ants and reproduce."

Red fire ants' stings can cause itchy sores, dizziness and breathing difficulties.

Make or Do? | Free English with Pronunciation with Emma - Duration: 4:08.

Do you know the difference between make and do?

These two verbs can be quite tricky because in some languages it's just one verb, such

as 'hacer' in Spanish.

So don't worry it's a really common problem.

In this video I'm gonna show you the difference between the two verbs, how to use them, and

then at the end of the video I'm gonna talk about some really common collocations, so

make sure you stay until the end.

Hi everyone and welcome back to Pronunciation with Emma.

So let's start with make first, so to make something means to create or to produce something,

for example "I made you a cup of tea".

I produced, I created a cup of tea for you, therefore I made you a cup of tea.

We can also talk about the origin of something.

"This table was made in Spain".

It's made is Spain, it was created, produced, it's the origin, therefore we're using make.

Or we can talk about an item's material.

"This chair is made of wood".

It can also be used when we're talking about provoking a reaction of some kind, such as

"watching sad films makes me cry".

Or an obligation, "she made him leave the room".

In this context it's like using "she forced him to leave the room".

Now do on the other hand is used for more general activities, such as "I don't have

anything to do today".

Or daily activities and tasks, "I need to do the ironing", "have you done your homework?".

We can also use do to replace verbs when it's really obvious from the context what we're

talking about, for example, "I need to do my nails", meaning, "I need to paint my nails".

Now let's have a look at this example, if I say to you "what are you doing?", the focus

here is on the action you're performing.

"What are you doing?"

"I'm making a video", while make, the focus is on the thing that you are producing, so

"what are you making?" "a video", now I'm not talking about the action, I'm talking

about the thing that I am producing.

Now it's time for everyone's favourite part, some collocations, so I'm gonna give you a

list with make and a list with do.

These are pretty common ones, and they're also ones that I've heard my students confuse

quite a lot, so I've very very carefully picked these ones for you guys.

With make I can say [reads collocations with make].

With do I can say [reads collocations with do].

Life Update - Duration: 8:06.

This is my summer pro tip. You take a bandana, you run it under some cold water,

you toss it in the freezer for a couple of minutes, and then you wrap it around

your head. You're going to be seeing a lot of these throughout my videos in the

coming future. You also might hear the fan in the background, because I'm not

turning it off anymore. I subtitle my videos now, so if you have

any troubles hearing, just click on those subtitles. I thought I would do a

#lifeupdate here--a quick little life update, maybe an intro rebrand, because

I'm just procrastinating in all aspects of my life. And I guess we'll start with

the biggest thing, which is I got a new job! Right out of college, I got a day job

at Barnes & Noble being a bookseller, and that lasted for two years--almost two

years. And recently, I have just been hired by a publishing company. I don't

know how much detail I want to give away on my channel so far yet, just because I

don't know how much I will be--or I'm allowed to be--talking about what I'm

doing. But I have a new job in the book industry, which is really exciting for

many reasons! The first one is that it's like money that I didn't have before.

It's consistency that I didn't have before. I'm so excited to work on 9:00 to

5:00, to wake up every morning, to maybe go to sleep at the same time every night,

which will be a ver,y very new thing to me. Like, not since high school did I do

this. Number three, it's also something that I

never imagined myself doing. If you asked me three years ago if I ever imagined a

career in the book industry, I would have said no. I went to school for theater. I

went to school for acting, and that was a big decision to make then, and it's a

decision that I pursued and did find work in and did get money in, but

ultimately, the inconsistency is what kind of drove me away from that--at least

for now. So I thought "hey, let's try publishing! I have zero qualifications

other than a love and interest in literature, but let's try anyway!" and

after about eight months or so of applying, I finally got a job. This job in

particular took about a month and a half of phone calls, interviews, lunch meetings--

that was super corporate and exciting, I've never done one of those before--

until I was hired. And I start on monday. It's scary! It's scary. It's also really

exciting, because this is just a new door that has opened for me, and the only door

that it is closed, is really just a job in retail. I loved being a bookseller

because I love books, and because I love talking about books, but ultimately,

working at a bookstore is so many other things. So many other things that can be

extremely negative, and not fun. So yes, I will miss my co-workers, yes I will miss

seeing releases come out, and knowing what's out, and having, just, knowledge

about new publications. But ultimately, I think this is good. More consistency in

my work schedule means more videos that I might be able to film, more vlogging

that I might want to do. The dates for the Booktubeathon were announced this year,

and I'm so excited to do that again. That was one of the first things I

did when my channel started, so I'll be participating in that again this year.

Especially because it falls on my birthday, which like, that'll be super fun

to be vlogging on my birthday. My birthday's on a Tuesday this year

too, so that's like "new book release day." I do know that Fence by C.S. Pacat is

coming out-- well, the bind-up of the original

editions: which is a gay fencing graphic novel. And then also R.O. Kwan's The

Incendiaries comes out on the same day as well, so those are two book purchases

that I'm going to be totally making. Some bookish things: I do have two haul videos

planned out and ready to go. I'll be doing a graphic novels and manga haul.

I'll also be doing a poetry haul because I have been accumulating both of those

things. Look forward to those. If you thought that I had forgotten about my

BYOR series... you are right. I totally did. I totally forgot that I accumulated

recommendations to then respond to. So, that will be coming soon because oh my

goodness, shame on me. And I want to give a huge shout-out to Jennifer over at

Insert Lit Pun Here, who is obviously remarkable. If you follow my channel, you

probably already follow her channel, but if you don't, please follow her channel.

She's brilliant. She did a video recently about the epic Robin Hobb fantasy series

that starts with Assassin's Apprentice. And I was like, "You know what, you were

the first person to make me actually really want to read these books." Because

I'm a big fantasy series reader, and I have a lot of friends in my surrounding

existence that are really big fans of that series, but never before did I

actually think that I would go for it, just because it's a large dedication to

make. And I was like, "You know what it's at my local library." I downloaded the

audiobook and I loved loved it so much. I just finished it today. I am so happy, so

thank you Jennifer, because oh my goodness

this was a great experience. And you know it just goes to show: YouTube and

Booktube can be very positive influences on your life, because it caused me

happiness. I hear that the third book, and in her video she says this (I'll link the

video down below), I hear that the third book is a slog, but coming off of this

first one and going into the second one hopefully soon when that downloads from

the library, I'm stoked. I highly recommend the audiobooks for these,

because the narrator does a fantastic job, and for a lot of fantasy series,

audiobooks can be difficult because you're dealing with, like, made-up words

and things that are completely brand new. But for some reason I really did

gravitate and attach to this voice reading me this story, so 10 out of 10

for that. Other booktube things that I'm excited about: Kendra Winchester just

started a series about reading and why we read and how we pick books. I just

watched the first video of that, and apparently there's going to be more so

I'm super interested in that. I'll link it down below. I also really liked Olive

from ABookOlive's summer fiction book haul. There were a lot of books in there:

a lot of things that I never heard of or a lot of things that I was reminded that

I knew of and was interested in. So I'll link that down below too. My booktube

anniversary is actually coming up very soon. My first video was posted on

July 10th. Don't watch it. It's terrible. But I don't know if I'm gonna do

anything for that. What should I do for that? I don't know. It's exciting, but it's

also just, like, another day in my life... I've been still raging on my Kpop kick.

Kim Donghan, who was a member of my favorite Kpop group, who

since disbanded, JBJ, just released his solo mini album. And it's amazing--I'll

link the music video down below. Check him out, support him, give him your love,

STAN HIM, if you will. And while I do know that there's a lot of history and

scandal around the existence of BlackPink, BlackPink after, what, three or four

years? finally has more than five songs. They have an actual mini album, which is

really exciting. I've been super loving Shinee's new music. I can't wait for the

part three to come out, and then I'm hoping that they'll repackage all three

albums in, like, one super album that I will probably spend way too much money

on purchasing. A.C.E finally got an album, which is exciting. They're working their

butts off, and I feel so bad for them, because they don't have any funding, but

I think that they're very talented. In terms of skin care things, I have been

experimenting and playing with a lot of new products. I'll talk about them soon--

maybe I'll do my own haul for that, but I've just been really enjoying The Face

Shop's line of Calendula products. I really enjoy them. They're super

moisturizing. I love the smell. They're very clean. Ten out of ten. I'll link

everything that I talked about down below. So that's really all I have...

because otherwise I'm gonna film videos on anything else that I have to talk

welcome back to another extremely video hope you're doing well hope you got a

smile on your face cuz today is a beautiful beautiful day Taylor and I

just loaded up the truck this morning we're at a gas station right now I just

filled up on gas and we're gonna head out into the country and I think maybe

we should try to see if there's somebody else that'll come with us he has anybody

out there on the radio anybody on the radio he's got it in his pocket oh hey

yeah anybody out there on the radio that wants to go over landing today awesome

we'll follow you yeah that'd be really cool some wild horses sounds good I'll

see you there hey guys this is Ken guys and he's from this area he's an amazing

photographer I've been following on Instagram for a

long time one of my favorite things about Utah little-known fact is that

nobody thinks of horses in the US you know they think that's the wild wild

west something of the past there's wild horses

it's pretty exciting to see so we're gonna take some air out of the tires

just to give us a little bit of a softer ride

so the road we're traveling on right now is actually part of the historic Pony

Express can them be looking for some wild horses so that's kind of cool that

we're gonna be looking for horses we're on the Pony Express trail so the Pony

Express trail I didn't really no one really took me on it I just kind of saw

it on the map and I did a little research on the Internet and I was like

it'd be fun to drive all the way to Nevada we packed the cooler with some

drinks and and some food and we went all the way out to Nevada and it was a lot

of fun and then another one of my friends did it again that's when we

found the horses there's a mountain range right there we're gonna head over

yeah so we're just gonna head up and over the mountains

you get set it off

all right so we're up here on top we just took a little break to look around

and chat a bit and now we have a bit of a steep drop down and then we're gonna

see if we can find some horses

and after it yeah what was in its talons

so many horses

gosh this is just epic the whole herd of horses they just came all around us

so incredible here you know this is this is what I was talking about you know you

see these horses in wild you know the passing you by you get close to them you

see them interacting with each other it's pretty incredible you know there's

no feeling like it nature photographer a wildlife photographer this is it for me

yeah I'll spend every day out here if I could how is this experience compared to

other experiences you've had you know a lot of the time I have to I have to

drive a lot further off the road to find them

it'll be like little specks on the horizon

explain what we saw an antelope on the side of the road just laying there

friend kit hey there's horses ahead let's go

so I counted a hundred and fifty roughly horses and they all just walked up and

then they walked right around our tracks I don't think I've ever been this close

to so many wild horses a really cool experience so Ken thanks for taking us

June Garden Tour | Walk with Kaye | Vlog - Duration: 11:10.

The cranberry hibiscus is in its second year and it is going wild. There are a

lot of flowers and calyxes and I'm gonna make some wonderful iced tea with these

flowers today. This is the vetch blooming and these are the flowers that just

knock my socks off. I love them, but I just noticed that there's a variation in

color and I haven't seen this before. I've only seen the lilac, but I see a few

here, and here. As you can see, I have not cut the vetch. So this is what I call a

twin and I did pollinate this one. The flower of this one was not open, so I

didn't pollinate that one and now you see, I don't think this can amount to

much at this point. I just spent about an hour and a half, two hours in the garden

working in the front, working on the tomatoes, and I thought let me just take

a quick look at the peppers. I sprayed them with kelp spray just a couple of

days ago, so they're looking very good, but just when you stand here for a while

you see little gnats flying around. Now it's already 10 o'clock so it's really

too late to do any spraying for bugs. And I have a lot of bees overhead in

the passion fruit. But I did take off a handful of leaves and this leaf concerned

me, and this leaf concerns me.

And looks like there's an aphid. Where there's trouble, there's always aphids.

Okay, that's all for now.

What am I going to do with all of those passion fruit? This is the latest

configuration on the container garden. My Amish paste tomato I moved to the front

yard. And this morning, I found a lot of aphids on one of these plants, and

there's another... I went through and I took off leaves and I sprayed... oh, shoot.

Every time you look there's something, but the squash has taken off

and I do have Tomatoes. I still don't know what this is but it may just be a 4

o'clock. Well all of these were sprayed this morning with a product called Green

Cure, which is basically baking soda and a little bit of dishwashing soap,

plant-based, to help with the aphids. I just spent about an hour on this

Parkway section watering my flowers, cleaning up the tomatoes, and look at

this. These are the cornflowers I saw in Germany and England and had to have, and

this is the Cerinthe, which is stunning. I've got the yarrow, Cosmos I grew from seed,

I've got the comfrey, zinnias, that is California fuchsia, sweet Annie, Lichnis

Viscaria. This tomato had a lot of nasty looking

leaves on it, but it's got a lot more so fingers crossed. This is California

goldenrod getting ready to bloom, and these are the the bulbs that Dotty and

I planted.. what were they? Starts with an A, from The Music Man. Help me out.

Zinnia, snapdragons are kind of in between, and that's it.

This is my worst looking tomato, however it has beautiful tomatoes on it. I've

taken off almost every leaf and it doesn't seem to be responding to

anything. So I have moved my Amish paste out here, which looks fabulous,

at the moment, and I'm gonna put it right over there. As soon as I take these

tomatoes off, this plant's coming out and I'm going to put the Amish paste in here.

This is the red crimson clover that has sprouted from a couple of weeks ago but

what's absolutely bonker's are these purple beans and I

can't wait to try them out. The walkway here has disappeared again because this

African blue basil just doesn't quit.

And here are my celery, 3 celery that I planted... oh, thank you,

raccoon! You dug up my celery. I just plowed through there and I asked

the bees to let me pass so that I could come over here and fix this. This whole

digging is from the raccoons, no doubt, so I'm going to tidy this up, put in some

coffee grounds, and more water. That looks a little bit neater and just give it

some coffee, make a little well. This soil is so dry

that it just runs off. Okay, better than it was.

Look what I just spotted coming out of the bean bed.

You guessed it, borage. Okay here we go.

That wasn't too bad. I turned on the irrigation and I was just checking this

area here and I discovered something wild that I haven't seen because it's

hidden. It's coming out of this pot where I had carrots and I believe it is a huge

carrot gone to seed, look.

I hadn't even noticed this and it's a whole big plant, and it's so tall, so long,

I guess because it was looking for the light. So I'm gonna get a stake and stake

that up. Now that I've got it all staked up I see that it's not carrot, it's

cilantro, coriander. This is a collection of California fuchsia, woodland strawberry,

which is California native, and I also have this ground cover here, which is a

California native, and it's very invasive. So it's all running together but it's

beautiful, because I can't grow any vegetables here. There's not enough Sun.

This is a California native blueberry. It's never made any blueberries, and

somebody trashed out this this fence last night, look at that.

So I've got to replace that.

Let's see if we've got any buds here on our... Oh!

Look what the goldfinches have done and I know this is the handiwork of

goldfinches. I saw one yesterday. It flew right over to my trellis not ten feet

away. And what do we have up here? Oh!

Following up on the climbing rose. I've had a lot of yellowing of leaves. I'm

hoping that it's just transplant shock and it's gonna start flowering again. Oh,

there's another bud. I have tried so hard to have good roses and something always

goes wrong with these heirloom roses. This is typical. This looks like mildew,

and they don't open. This has to be something specific, the way it dies back

like that and dries up, and these have no intention of opening either.

And I sprayed all these for mildew, but... Okay, Rose people, help me out. Oh! Just

look at this, that's really bad. In fact, I haven't

really had one good one yet. This one almost it almost made it. And look at my

new addition! My friend, Hazel, picked this up in Ventura County today.

This is French lavender and I just can't wait to find a place for this, and I

can't wait to dry these flowers and use it in my balm. Okay, here's your little
