I am Japanese but I am also a foreigner in my own country.
When we went to Sugamo we met a lady who went abroad longer
than she has lived in Japan.
She gave us a great example and compared what has been in her opinion
is better and worse, comparing Japan and Abroad.
Let's find out what she had to say about that.

And give us a big like on the way.
So let's find out. What is better, Japan VS abroad.
Let's go and Ask Japanese.
You are Japanese but have connections to abroad.
I was born abroad, lived a little bit in Japan, and after that all my life abroad.
I lived in Brazil, Africa, Europe.
I just recently returned to Japan.
You know both ways of life.
I have seen a lot.
What do you envy about the life abroad?
They have much more leeway. They live much more relaxed live styles.
What is so relaxed about it.
After work they go for meals with their friends or family.
They treasure time with their family, and their friends.
They refined how to spend their time.
Counter-wise, what is good about life in Japan?
Everything is so convenient. So many places are open 24/7.
You can do anything in Japan.
What's the most convenient?
Convenience stores play a big part in it.
In Europe there are no convenience stores.
When it's 8 or 9 you can't buy anything.
But in Japan things are running 24 hours.
We can always buy things.
Japan is very busy and hectic all the time.
And there are so many people.
I am Japanese but I am also a foreigner in my own country.
Japanese people envy that foreigners are real challengers.
They have a lot of freedom and use their time wisely.
They take long vacations and long holidays.
They take their time, enjoying their time.
Foreigners are enjoying their life at their fullest.
Japan is very free about their fashion.
Especially in the 80s and 90s.
I think the fashion is one of Japan's freedom.
I think foreigners are more free with their fashion.
They try not to fit in with everyone around them, that's right.
If it's warm in winter, they wear T-shirts abroad, right.
But in Japan we will point at that person and say "what T-shirts in winter?!"
Those were all questions. Thank you.
Convenience is a big thing that Japan has an advantage.
But then there are lots of other advantages...
compared to living abroad. What I find really interesting was the comment
when they both exchanged each other saying, which place has more freedom of fashion.
That's a really good point that they have both raised.
It seems that abroad you have more freedom of fashion...
But that actually depends onto the area.
Sometimes you have to be a lot stronger abroad because of people harassing you...
maybe even throwing stuff at you... for dressing differently.
In Japan it's maybe less accepted but people won't say something about it
or approach you about it.
So here you can actually why I enjoy this kind of fashion in peace and quiet.
And don't have people throwing stuff at me...
or shouting things at me... which I like.
What do you think is an advantage living in your country?
Would like to find out.
If you ever lived in another country, let us know and share your story in the comments.
So I can find out and we can all find out about your story.
Would love to read about it.
I hope you had a lovely day, I hope you enjoy this, or will have a lovely day...
