WINNING THE BATTLE OF YOU, AGAINST YOU

Every day of our lives we're in a fight.

Yaaah, you read that right. But it's not a fight against others,

it's a struggle raging within us.

You gotta understand, sometimes there's a battle between what you know and what you feel;

between who you are now and who you want to be.

It's YOU, against YOU!

Everybody's fighting some kind of battle, seen or unseen.

Hey, every thought can be a battle and every breath a war zone.

Sooo, what do you do to win the fight?

Recognize that there are no victories by chance.

You need a purpose and a plan to get the "W". It won't hapen on it's own.

And if you don't fight, YOU WILL LOSE.

Now you know: WINNING THE BATTLE OF YOU AGAINST YOU

Photoshop: Create the Look of Graphic Novel Illustrations - Duration: 6:44.

Hi. This is Marty from Blue Lightning TV.

I'm going to show you how to create the high-contrast, black and white look of graphic novel comic

book illustrations.

You can combine images if you like.

I downloaded the robot and the alien landscape separately from Shutterstock

and then placed them together.

To ensure that your results will look similar to mine, go to Image and Image Size.

Make its Height between 800 and 100 pixels and its resolution 72 pixels per inch.

Its Width doesn't matter.

We'll convert the image into a Smart Object, so we can modify it non-destructively.

To do this, click the icon at the upper, right of the Layers panel and click, "Convert to Smart Object.

Go to Filter, Sharpen and "Smart Sharpen".

Smart Sharpen controls the amount of sharpening that occurs in shadows and highlights.

Make the Amount: 500%.

Make the Radius 6 pixels.

Reduce Noise is in version CC only.

It reduces unwanted noise, while keeping important edges unaffected.

If your using Photoshop CC, make it 0.

Keep in mind, since we're affecting a Smart Object, we can adjust or modify all the filters

that we'll be adding to it at any time.

Go to Filter and Filter Gallery.

Open the Sketch folder and click "Halftone Pattern".

Make the Pattern Type "Line", the Size: 1 and the Contrast 10.

Click the Add filter icon and click "Torn Edges".

I'll make the Image Balance: 31, the Smoothness: 11 and the Contrast 17.

If you want to darken your image, increase the amount in Image Balance.

If you want o brighten it, decrease the amount.

Click the Add filter icon again and this time, open the "Texture" folder and click "Texturizer".

The Light is from the "Top", the Relief is 5, the Scaling is 100% and the Texture is "Sandstone".

In this particular example, I'd like to add more detail to the robot.

If you want to adjust an area of your image, make a copy of the layer by pressing Ctrl or Cmd + J.

Double-click "Filter Gallery" of the copy to open it.

Click "Torn Edges".

Increase or decrease the amount in Image Balance until you like the amount of detail in that particular area.

Don't be concerned about the other areas We'll take care of those in a moment.

To save space in the Layers panel, let's collapse the effects.

Ctrl-click or Cmd-click the Layer mask icon to make an inverted layer mask next to the copy.

We'll reveal the more detailed robot in this layer by brushing in white over the layer mask.

To do this, open your Pencil Tool and Pencil Picker.

I'll make its size temporarily 70 pixels, but fee free to adjust the amount.

Its Hardness and Opacity should both be 100%.

Then, press Enter or Return.

You can adjust the size of your pencil by pressing the right or left bracket key on your keyboard.

I'll draw over the robot to reveal it through the layer mask.

Double-click the Smart Object next to it to open its source image.

Click the New Layer icon to make a new layer.

Open your "Rectangular Marquee Tool" and draw a rectangle over a corner of your image.

We'll fill the selection with white and since your background color is white, press Ctrl or Cmd + Delete.

To deselect it, press Ctrl or Cmd + D. Next,, we'll add a white border along the edges.

Unlock the background and double-click an empty area of the layer to open its Layer Style window.

Click, "Stroke".

If the color box isn't white, click it and when the Color Picker opens, pick white.

The Size is 20 pixels and the Position is Inside.

Click the small "x" to close the "psb" tab and when you see this message, click "Yes" to accept the changes.

Open your Horizontal Type Tool and pick a cartoon font.

I'm using, "Komika Display Kaps Regular".

If you'd like to use it, I provided its link in my video's description below or project files.

I'll make its size 67 points.

Feel free to adjust this amount based on the font you use and the amount of characters in your text.

I'll make its anti-aliasing, "Sharp", the alignment: Centered and the color should be black.

Click on your document and type out your text.

To reposition it, open your Move Tool and move it.

This is Marty from Blue Lightning TV.

Thanks for watching!

Woman Loses Business After Calling the Cops on an 8-Year-Old - Duration: 1:50.

Hey guys for Complex News, I'm Natasha Martinez.

/// You may have seen a video going around this weekend of a woman absurdly calling the

police on an 8-year-old girl selling water outside of her apartment building.

She is now losing business over it, as the call was clearly an act of discrimination.

The woman was identified as Alison Ettel, who is the CEO of TreatWell Health, an edibles

company that specializes in cannabis options for pets.

After footage of her calling the cops on a child went viral, people flocked to her company's

Twitter account to flood its mentions.

At least one company that does business with Ettel is responding to the incident by pulling

her products from its dispensary writing,

As of today, Magnolia will no longer be carrying Treatwell Tinctures.

After seeing this video of their CEO, calling the police on an 8 year old entrepreneur selling

water on a hot day, we decided without hesitation that we could no longer patronize her company.

Magnolia's General Manager Katie Rabinowitz told Complex the store has stocked TreatWell

products for the past three years, and were among the store's most popular items.

She said that after seeing the viral video, the fact that the products were one of the

stores best sellers was no factor in making the decision to part ways.

She said,

We want to provide our members and our patients with products that share in the values of

passion, integrity, and community.

The woman who has been deemed on social media as #permitpatty was captured on camera calling

the police by the 8-year-olds mother.

The mother posted the incident on instagram writing,

QUOTE CARD-- Ladysowavy via Instagram Make this bitch go viral like #bbqbecky she's

#permitpatty.

[W]ould you rather my daughter be out here getting into shit Fr cuz an 8-year-old selling

water in front of her apartment building where she's lived her whole life is NOT a reason

to call the Police.

Permit Patty is seen in the video trying to hid from the mother's camera and according

to the mother, the police never showed up.

JAPAN VS ABROAD: AN EXPAT'S STORY - Duration: 4:56.

I am Japanese but I am also a foreigner in my own country.

When we went to Sugamo we met a lady who went abroad longer

than she has lived in Japan.

She gave us a great example and compared what has been in her opinion

is better and worse, comparing Japan and Abroad.

Let's find out what she had to say about that.

Don't forget to subscribe if you are new to our channel.

And give us a big like on the way.

So let's find out. What is better, Japan VS abroad.

Let's go and Ask Japanese.

You are Japanese but have connections to abroad.

I was born abroad, lived a little bit in Japan, and after that all my life abroad.

I lived in Brazil, Africa, Europe.

I just recently returned to Japan.

You know both ways of life.

I have seen a lot.

What do you envy about the life abroad?

They have much more leeway. They live much more relaxed live styles.

What is so relaxed about it.

After work they go for meals with their friends or family.

They treasure time with their family, and their friends.

They refined how to spend their time.

Counter-wise, what is good about life in Japan?

Everything is so convenient. So many places are open 24/7.

You can do anything in Japan.

What's the most convenient?

Convenience stores play a big part in it.

In Europe there are no convenience stores.

When it's 8 or 9 you can't buy anything.

But in Japan things are running 24 hours.

We can always buy things.

Japan is very busy and hectic all the time.

And there are so many people.

I am Japanese but I am also a foreigner in my own country.

Japanese people envy that foreigners are real challengers.

They have a lot of freedom and use their time wisely.

They take long vacations and long holidays.

They take their time, enjoying their time.

Foreigners are enjoying their life at their fullest.

Japan is very free about their fashion.

Especially in the 80s and 90s.

I think the fashion is one of Japan's freedom.

I think foreigners are more free with their fashion.

They try not to fit in with everyone around them, that's right.

If it's warm in winter, they wear T-shirts abroad, right.

But in Japan we will point at that person and say "what T-shirts in winter?!"

Those were all questions. Thank you.

Convenience is a big thing that Japan has an advantage.

But then there are lots of other advantages...

compared to living abroad. What I find really interesting was the comment

when they both exchanged each other saying, which place has more freedom of fashion.

That's a really good point that they have both raised.

It seems that abroad you have more freedom of fashion...

But that actually depends onto the area.

Sometimes you have to be a lot stronger abroad because of people harassing you...

maybe even throwing stuff at you... for dressing differently.

In Japan it's maybe less accepted but people won't say something about it

or approach you about it.

So here you can actually why I enjoy this kind of fashion in peace and quiet.

And don't have people throwing stuff at me...

or shouting things at me... which I like.

What do you think is an advantage living in your country?

Would like to find out.

If you ever lived in another country, let us know and share your story in the comments.

So I can find out and we can all find out about your story.

Would love to read about it.

I hope you had a lovely day, I hope you enjoy this, or will have a lovely day...

I hope I see you soon again for another video on the Ask Japanese channel.

Thank you very much for watching this all the way to the end and I catch you soon

Bye Bye...

Strange Things About Pippa Middleton's Marriage - Duration: 2:58.

Pippa Middleton gained worldwide fame when her older sister, Kate Middleton, married

Prince William in 2011.

Six years later, Pippa then tied the knot with billionaire Brit, James Matthews, in

2017.

Together, the couple are anything but ordinary.

They are aunt and uncle to Prince George, who's in line for the throne, they live in

an opulent London mansion, and just for fun they competed in a 47-mile swim-run in Sweden.

Wanna dish on some more?

Here are some of the strange things about Pippa Middleton's marriage.

Wait for it...

According to the Daily Mail, the couple reportedly met in 2007 on St. Barth's, and friends say

it was love at first sight - at least for James.

The pair faced roadblocks from the beginning.

James is eight years older than Pippa - and Pippa had a boyfriend at the time.

According to the Mail, the two stayed in touch until 2012, when they dated for a few months.

It didn't last back then, but in late 2015, the couple got back together.

According to the paper, a friend said,

"The truth was, the only girl he really wanted was Pippa.

He always carried a torch for her."

Less than a year later, James proposed with a diamond estimated to be over $250,000, and

they tied the knot at her parents' estate in May 2017.

A meddling mastermind

It's not common these days for a mother to "mastermind" her daughter's love life, but

a source told The Telegraph that Pippa's mother, Carole Middleton, reportedly told a friend

years before their engagement that she really hoped Pippa and James would get serious.

The source said,

"This is something she has hoped for for quite some time.

She appears to be something of a mastermind in making this happen."

James reportedly had a private meeting with Carole before asking for her daughter's hand.

And while some had speculated that the wedding might take place at James' family estate in

Scotland, Carole's influence seemed convincing enough that the couple married on the Middleton

family estate, instead.

Luxury digs

Real estate in London isn't cheap, but that's not cramping Pippa and James' style!

According to the Daily Mail, the couple lives in a five-story London mansion worth $22 million.

Their home features a gym, an underground movie theater, an elevator, and a whopping

six bedrooms.

And if that weren't enough, they began renovating the property in 2017, adding a bathroom, along

with his and hers closets.

Keeping mum on the bump

Shortly before Pippa's sister, Kate, gave birth to her third child in April 2018, news

broke that Pippa herself was expecting.

The Sun reported that Pippa was 12 weeks along, but neither James nor Pippa immediately confirmed

the news.

A source told the paper,

"Pippa and James have always known they wanted children.

They have made the most of their first few months of marriage and felt the time was right

to expand their family."

The new addition is reportedly due in October 2018.

Price Vs Risk Episode 2 - The Building Game (Not Just For Builders) - Duration: 6:00.

The building game and which is a video about price and risk.

You could call it Episode 2 if you like. I'm calling it Episode 2. I spoke last week or the week before

about how price and risk are very intricately related for your customers.

A cheap builder or a cheap trade for a project comes with a lot more risk

than a more expensive trade who's included everything,

who you an trust and rely on and comes with longevity and all those other things.

I'm not going to dig it into that too much now.

It was in the other video.

I don't want to point out that I don't necessarily mean that all expensive things are better than all cheap things

because they are very clearly not true.

But there is a correlation in our minds between price and value and that risk certainly of something being

significantly cheaper

is very high. Also it's your job to point out the risk that people take when they buy something

cheaper. You can't prove that the other guy's rubbish but you should be educating your customers

about what to look for so they can meaningfully

compare the cheaper solution with your somewhat better solution or offering

or package or whatever. And that's your job in your sales process.

So today I want to talk about the game

and like I said it's not just for builders it's for all trades

and it's also called or is also known as cheap things aren't necessarily

or aren't always as cheap as they seemed at first.

So this is the builders game, a slightly unscrupulous trade business presents to the customer.

They're less expensive solution that looks like it includes all the stuff

that you're more honest quote includes.

It's a fixed price quote or it looks like a fixed price quote and it looks like it includes all the same thing

but sneakily perhaps with some weasel wording or not being very thorough in the way the wording is.

It doesn't necessarily really cover the same stuff.

The customer of course, being uneducated in such matters can't tell the difference between their

quote and yours, chooses the cheaper one because if they're the same

cheap has better and then has an unhappy experience throughout the job

when the other trade starts trying to recover if that's really what's going on.

The costs he lost when it was being cheap. Pricey variations,

things that you might have assumed would be included. You suddenly realize aren't,

that kind of thing. We all know this occurs. Has it happened to you? and I don't mean

have you been a victim of it so much as have you lost business by to somebody else playing this game?

I bet you have.

How do you counter it? I believe it's relatively common.

And one of the difficult things about it from your perspective anyway

is that of course a customer stuck in that slightly

unpleasant experience hasn't got the first builder the good guy to check

against his running now talking to the Builder he's stuck with something or the

customers having a poor experience probably a damaged relationship and

quite possibly ends up paying more than they would have if they chosen the more

honest trades person or trades business in the first place so all over it's a

big shit apart from for the unscrupulous guy who's making his money at someone's

expense so what should you do as the honest builder right I'm assuming I'm

talking to honest builders and honest trades businesses working with consumers

or businesses or even corporations okay and you want to prevent them from making

the wrong choice and not choosing you and getting caught by this building game

and ending up with a poor experience and of course you get to win by winning more

customers right so there's only one thing to do I've written it down just

here how to counter it right in the real answer is educate your customer early

educate them that this is a thing that this goes on educate them that if they

choose the cheap person and they don't get the same inclusions in that cheaper

price they might regret it later and they might end up paying more later okay

educate them that there's a game educate them that it doesn't happen when they

choose you and educate them how not to get caught in the game so at least they

have a choice to make right they can take this other guy and risk that he's

playing the game or they can work with you and not have that risk okay you

might teach them how to compare apples to apples right you might teach them how

to look at a quote for a project like this and understand about what's

included and what's not you might teach them that if something is not explicitly

included in a quote it's not included at all right if it's not written down as

included in a how obvious it might seem that it should

be included it probably isn't and of course you need to make sure that your

quotes explicitly include everything that is included and are written

properly and appropriately and reassuringly now of course that doesn't

sound like an easy silver bullet and not many of the things I teach ah it's easy

silver bullets I don't think there are many of those things around right if it

was all easy everybody would be doing it and it would be lovely but business

isn't easy is it the work involved and a bit of thinking so what you need to do

of course is put this into your sales process put it into your sales proposal

documentation a note I say your sales process and your proposal documentation

not you quote you should be writing a proposal not a quote and that's a topic

for another day I think right you need to be educating your customers you need

to document this stuff any proposal you might give them paperwork to take away

and read so that they can go back and look at it and have this understanding

properly of how to compare trades businesses now if you want help with

that of course you're in the right place of course I'm the person who can help

you and if you do want me to help you there's a link somewhere below venus

will put it in this video that you can click and book yourself a ten minute

chat with me and explore whether this is something i can help you with in your

business with my coaching because of course that's what i do

okay it's john signing off see you later

you

Hi, this is 101 memory lab, what is an SSD, how do you pick one? Do you remember these?

And now we have this

Today, more and more people are using this

instead of this

So what is an SSD?

An SSD or a Solid-State Drive stores data just like a Hard Drive. A Hard drive has mechanical parts it has

platters and heads, this makes it noisier and this makes it heat up a bit more

An SSD does not have any mechanical parts. It uses flash ICs

This helps it stay cool and quiet. An SSD also comes in many shapes and sizes

An SSD stores data very differently to a Hard Drive

There's a lot that goes on inside the SSD, an SSD is just like a book, consisted of pages

When we read a book, we read from a single page, if I'm writing to a book

I write to a single page, just like an SSD. Now a number of pages

consists and make up a block.

A number of blocks, put together make up an IC and a number of ICs come together to form an SSD.

A crucial difference between a Hard Drive is when we're reading and writing, we're reading and writing to pages in an SSD.

But when we want to erase any data, I can't just rub it out. I need to erase an entire block, which consists of many pages.

SSDs can be used in both commercial and consumer

environments as well as harsh industrial environments

These can withstand shock and vibration, temperature to a certain extent as well as any magnetic interference

Industrial environments are very harsh environments that are found all over the world, in various different applications , various different industries

Harsh environments are typically where temperatures are highly elevated or very low

Think about real world, if you're exploring the wilderness of Canada in winter.

Temperatures can drop to minus 30 minus 40 degrees, sometimes even lower than that

Now think about hot places or think about any other places where you have a lot of machines which generate a lot of heat

Think about mining for cryptocurrency, Bitcoin miners generate a lot of heat

Places like this, an SSD can prove very beneficial. They can withstand heat

Tested to the right industrial temperatures and profiles, can keep your data safe

Another thing to consider

when you're using an SSD is vibration and mechanical shock. Think about various industries such as

automotive driving cars and trucks

aircraft, helicopters

drones

various environments like these where vibration is a major problem to data. It can result in losing your data

An SSD can withstand these vibrations and keep your data safe

Angels fight back but fall to Blue Jays in extras - Duration: 6:13.

Kendrys Morales drove a two-out, pinch-hit solo home run into the right-field seats off Angels reliever Hansel Robles in the 10th inning on Sunday to lift the Toronto Blue Jays to a 7-6 victory before 33,102 in Angel Stadium

Robles, a hard-throwing right-hander who was making his Angels debut after being claimed off waivers from the New York Mets last week, struck out Justin Smoak with a 97-mph fastball to open the 10th inning and got Kevin Pillar to ground out to second

Advertisement  Morales, hitting for shortstop Aledmys Diaz, crushed a 2-and-1 slider that caught too much of the plate for his eighth homer of the season and a 7-6 lead

Tyler Clippard yielded a leadoff single in the bottom of the 10th but retired the next three batters to nail down the victory

Diaz and right fielder Curtis Granderson each hit solo home runs off Angels reliever Noe Ramirez in the sixth inning to snap a 3-3 tie and give the Blue Jays a 5-3 lead

Toronto pushed the lead to 6-3 in the eighth when Diaz reached on a three-base error by Angels reliever Deck McGuire, who threw wildly past first base on a chopper to the mound, and scored on Luke Maile's sacrifice fly

The Blue Jays then handed the Angels three unearned runs in the bottom of the eighth

Albert Pujols reached with one out when second baseman Devon Travis fielded his grounder behind the bag and one-hopped his throw to first for an error

Toronto left-hander Aaron Loup replaced John Axford and got pinch-hitter David Fletcher to fly to left for the second out

Andrelton Simmons followed with a grounder to third baseman Yangervis Solarte, who made a nice back-hand stop of the ball but threw low and wide to first, pulling Justin Smoak off the bag

Loup walked Kole Calhoun to load the bases. Toronto manager John Gibbons summoned right-hander Ryan Tepera to face catcher Martin Maldonado, who hammered a three-run double over the head of left fielder Teoscar Hernandez to tie the score 6-6

Maldonado was picked off second to end the inning.  Angels right-hander Felix Pena, making his second career big-league start, gave up three runs—all of them in the second inning—and eight hits in five innings, striking out six and walking one

Smoak walked to lead off the second, Diaz singled and Travis lined a two-out, three-run home run to right-center field for a 3-0 Toronto lead

Pena needed 47 pitches to navigate the first two innings. He seemed headed for an early exit when Solarte singled and took third on Smoak's one-out double to right in the third

The Angels bullpen began to stir as Pena struck out Kevin Pillar swinging with a slider and got Diaz to fly to left fielder Justin Upton, who made the catch after a long run toward the line

Pena retired the side in order in the fourth. He found more trouble in the fifth, as Steve Pearce singled with two outs and took third on Smoak's ground-rule double to right

Pena escaped the jam by getting Pillar to foul out to third.  Blue Jays starter Sam Gaviglio retired the first 11 batters of the game, striking out Maldonado and Chris Young to end the third inning and Ian Kinsler and Mike Trout to start the fourth

Upton broke up the perfect game by crushing a 91-mph fastball on a 2-and-0 count far over the left-field wall for his 17th homer, trimming Toronto's lead to 3-1 in the fourth

Simmons opened the fifth with a single to left, and Calhoun's slow roller to third against an infield shift was good for a single

Advertisement  Maldonado singled to center to score Simmons. Calhoun was thrown out trying to advance from first to third on the hit, a close call that was upheld by instant replay

Young struck out, but Kinsler came through with a two-out RBI single to center to tie the score 3-3

The Angels threatened off reliever Joe Biagini in the bottom of the sixth when Simmons reached on a two-out infield single and took third on Calhoun's double to right

Maldonado popped out to shortstop to end the inning.
