New California Republic | Fallout - Duration: 11:17.
Across the Wasteland that was once America, hope remains a commodity in short supply.
Of all the nation states that have risen since the Great War, most are brutal and cruel.
They are based around the rule of the strongest, or a reverence for technology at the expense
of humanity.
Some resemble a bizarre parody of the civilization that came before, while others manipulate
the symbols of the past to lend legitimacy to their own ambitions.
Warlords and factions have laid claim to the ideals of the old United States, but few have
embodied them and fewer still have had the strength to defend them.
Yet far to the west, a new power is slowly rising, one that promises democracy, liberty,
and the rule of law.
For hundreds of thousands, every hope that the Wasteland might one day be restored to
greatness has been placed in the New California Republic.
In keeping with its promise as a beacon of liberty, the nation has modeled itself on
the pre-war United States and exists as a federal republic with fully functioning executive,
legislative, and judicial branches.
Supreme authority rests in the Republic Council which is overseen by a directly elected President
and Vice President.
The Office of the President remains the single most powerful influence within the Republic
and without any enforced term limits, an individual elected to this position can control the country
for decades.
Legislative power is held by the two houses of the NCR Congress, the House of Representatives
and the Senate.
While such labels evoke imagery of the distinguished and capable politicians of old, the Congress
of the New California Republic is often a chaotic assembly of Councillors, Representatives,
Senators, and Governors who each represent their home states and territories.
While supposedly a united federation, in practice each state works to assert its own independence
and agenda.
Friction often forms between rival states over matters of trade or caravan routes which
is often leveraged by outside groups in an attempt to exert political or economic influence
across the entire Republic.
Brahmin cattle barons and trade monopolies like the Crimson Caravan use their immense
wealth to affect elections, extort large amounts of money in the form of government contracts,
or muscle out rival businesses with political support.
Even the armed forces are not immune, reliant on weapon merchants and manufacturers like
the Gun Runners to maintain their arsenal, and who are granted special dispensation in
return.
The courts and judges of the judicial branch work to uphold an adapted version of the Laws
of the United States, but for now at least, the Wasteland makes a mockery of any universal
enforcement.
Widespread corruption, nepotism, inefficiencies, and an overly bureaucratic state apparatus
are the inherent disadvantages of NCR's democratic system and hopefully ones that
the nation will someday rise above.
In most areas however, the state has been largely successful in eliminating prostitution,
gambling, slavery, and the proliferation of weapons.
In areas occupied by the NCR military and still operating under martial law, such crimes
are often punishable by death.
Citizens within the New California Republic live in a comparatively stable society.
A series of capable women in positions of power has eliminated the rampant sexism found
elsewhere in the Wastelands, while ghouls and mutants are shown little discrimination
and even serve proudly in the NCR military.
A clear separation of Church and State is also maintained, with every non-radical religion
allowed within its borders so long as they make no attempt to influence the political
process, participate in human sacrifice, or expose their followers to the Forced Evolutionary
Virus.
With a population of over 700,000 people, the New California Republic is most likely
the largest nation within the Wasteland.
A majority of its citizens are farmers, travelling merchants, or refugees seeking protection
from the dangers of the post-apocalyptic world, an uncommon luxury elsewhere.
In exchange, citizens are required to pay taxes, and in this the NCR is unique in that
it uses its own form of currency rather than the caps traded elsewhere.
Individuals or even entire communities can be granted citizenship if requested, although
as the NCR has expanded, this practice has grown increasingly controversial and there
remain accusations that the nation has forcefully annexed weaker settlements and incorporated
them against their will.
In these frontier communities there is a lingering feeling that their needs have been forgotten
in favor of the more powerful regions further west and many of these settlements have attempted
to remain independent.
As the power of the NCR has grown, it has made progressively stronger enemies, envious
of its wealth and power.
The defense of the nation is the responsibility of the New California Republic Army.
It is a highly organized force by the standards of the Wasteland, consisting of several divisions
augmented by scouts, mechanized forces, and a small number of Vertibirds.
Its soldiers possess a remarkably standardized line of equipment and weapons, and NCR infantry
in their tan uniforms, wide-brimmed hats, and goggles have quickly become the most famous
symbol of the nation.
Supplementing the NCR Army is a police force typically found in the largest urban communities
as well as the New California Rangers.
These Rangers represent the elite of the NCR and have gained renown across the Wasteland
for their aptitude in conducting reconnaissance, as well as for their bravery and combat effectiveness.
Rangers are known to operate safe houses far outside of NCR territory, striking against
slavers for whom they have a particular hatred.
Far before the Republic was capable of projecting power across the Wasteland, it existed as
a simple community born out of the survivors of Vault 15.
Under the leadership of Aradesh and with the help of a stranger known only as Vault Dweller,
this settlement, Shady Sands, would prosper and form lucrative trade routes with numerous
other communities.
Gradually a type of nationalist sentiment grew out of this collective of trade partners
and a trial council was formed to draft a national constitution.
In 2189, just over a century after the Great War, the New California Republic was voted
into existence as a sprawling federation of five states: Shady Sands, Maxson, Dayglow,
The Hub and Los Angeles.
Aradesh was named the Republic's first President and when he died after 7 years of capable
rule, his daughter Tandi was unanimously elected to take his place.
The rise of the NCR brought it into conflict with the other major powers of the region
including the New Khans, the Enclave and the Brotherhood of Steel.
Another mythical figure in the Wasteland known as the Chosen One would end the threat of
the New Khans and the Enclave, but it would take a brutal war to vanquish the Brotherhood
of Steel.
The large manpower reserves of the NCR combined with their intact manufacturing base would
prove to be the deciding factor both against the Brotherhood and the various raider factions
rampant across the Wasteland.
Once legendary gangs like the Vipers and Jackals were hunted nearly to extinction and forced
to flee east as the NCR continued to expand.
When the NCR eventually tamed all of Southern California, President Tandi grew into an adored
figure both within the nation and without, frequently referred to as the Great Mother.
Her death would gradually lead to a shift in the policies of the NCR.
While the near unification of California had been a tremendous achievement, the nation's
gold reserves had been destroyed during the war against the Brotherhood of Steel and the
nation was forced to embark on a more imperialistic method of expansion to secure additional resources.
Critics say this rapid expansion has cost the Republic some of its moral standing and
principals, but it has brought the nation within reach of the great wealth of the Mojave
(mo-HOV-ee).
Under the leadership of President Aaron Kimball, the NCR has embarked on an aggressive campaign
across this new region, establishing bases and even maintaining an embassy within the
Free Economic Zone of New Vegas.
Across the Colorado river however lies Ceaser's Legion, a slave army bound to the will of
a single man.
Both sides contend for control of New Vegas, the Hoover Dam, and the Mojave Wasteland itself.
Contact with the west has been always been fleeting and in recent years reports from
the Mojave have been contradictory and confused.
Some say the New California Republic won a great victory at the Hoover Dam and the entire
region has been brought under their dominion.
Others claim that Caesar's Legion has enslaved New Vegas and that President Kimball was either
killed or disgraced.
While both these and a thousand other tales can be heard across the Wasteland, in one
detail they all agree.
A simple courier played some great part in the battle for the Mojave, which to this day
remains unknown.
It's said war - war never changes.
But men and women do, through the roads they walk.
And this road, for now at least - has reached its end.

Atlas Gun Works Chaos: Custom Open Gun - Duration: 6:44.
Welcome back to Clear Advantage TV.
If you're a fan of Bentley, Rolex, Lagavulin Single Malt or Gisele Bündchen, and you simply
must have the nicest, yet most purpose built firearm on the range...then sit back and relax
because today we're looking at the Atlas Gun Works, Chaos.
Within about half a second of seeing this blaster, it's immediately evident that this
handgun looks more like it'd be at home in the next Star Wars spin-off rather than
a gun shop with standard service pistols.
That's because this 9mm is built expressly for competition shooting in 3 Gun and USPSA's
Open Divisions.
If the name wasn't clear enough, "Open" is basically the competition shooter's version
of an unlimited division from the racing world, with virtually no restrictions on firearm
selection or modification options.
As such, those who manufacture these Open Guns outfit them with every possible mechanical
advantage a shooter could want, to achieve the optimum balance between speed and accuracy.
The vast majority of top tier shooters will select a highly modified and/or customized
2011 as their handgun of choice when shooting Open.
That's a double stack 1911 for those of you who just found the internet last week.
All the advantages of the 1911 with respect to accuracy and trigger pull, without the
inherent disadvantage of capacity from the single stack design.
So with the groundwork laid, let's hone in on some specifics of the Chaos, and discuss
whether or not this Atlas performs as nicely as it looks.
While a handguns mechanical accuracy is generally not the limiting factor on how tight of a
grouping the user is able to shoot, we wanted to print this handgun for accuracy to showcase
what the build is capable of.
Here you can see two separate groups, the first at 25 yards supported, and the second
at 25 yards off hand . The 5 inch KKM Bull Barrel and the tight lockup guarantees the
firearm will put projectiles where the shooter aims it.
Having the extremely crisp x-line trigger, shaved down for the optimal length of the
shooter's hand certainly doesn't hurt either.
But let's be realistic, you didn't come here to watch us shoot this pistol slowly
off
a rest...
[Shooting Clips]
When we get into the conversation on speed, we can review a few specific areas of emphasis
that must be tapped into if the shooter is going to hit targets as quickly as possible.
The first is recoil control.
Now while this is namely based on the shooter's grip and stance, the Atlas Chaos gives the
user every possible advantage in assisting with this task.
The most obvious starting point is the Two port compensator and dual-ported barrel.
Contrary to popular belief, guns like this are actually designed to shoot extremely hot
loads, called "major power factor loads" in the competition world.
That's equivalent to something like a +P+ load for those of you familiar with defensive
ammunition.
So while this firearm is "only" shooting 9mm, the compensator is actually extremely
effective in helping mitigate muzzle rise by venting the escaping gases vertically.
Beyond the compensator itself, the entire structure of weight distribution in this pistol
is specifically designed to mitigate recoil.
By removing weight from the moving parts of the gun, and adding weight to the stationary
pieces, Atlas has produced an extremely flat shooting setup.
You'll notice the intense slide cuts, the Tri-top design, and the material removed where
a rear sight would traditionally sit.
Now when we look to the grip, unlike other production 2011s, the Atlas utilizes a steel
grip from Phoenix Trinity; the Evo.
Not only does this grip add weight to the stationary areas of the firearm, it also comes
with an intense texture which improves traction for the shooter's grip.
So with every possible advantage built into this pistol to assist with recoil mitigation,
what are some of the other factors that help the user achieve higher levels of speed?
Well, the aforementioned X-Line trigger is phenomenal.
It's tuned at a crisp 1.3lbs, far less than the weight of the 3.4lb pistol.
The extremely short travel and reset distance ensure that the shooter will only be limited
by their ability on how fast they can press the trigger.
Then there's the Atlas Reflex mount which attaches directly to the frame of the pistol,
again, keeping weight off of the moving parts of the gun and providing the most stable position
for the Leupold Delta Point.
The optic allows for the shooter to negate front sight focus and sight alignment from
the accuracy equation completely, allowing for a natural target focus.
Between the slide racker which aids in cycling the gun and the Dawson ice magwell for ease
with speed reloads, standard manipulation of the firearm is made expressly simple.
But before we conclude, I want to draw attention to the overall length of the gun.
Many Open guns are built on a standard full 5 inch slides or longer, but AGW has trimmed
theirs back, having the slide stop about 1/4 of an inch before the end of the barrel, and
allowing the comp, which is also relatively compact compared to others out there, to neatly
nest back within the dust cover.
Not only does this look excellent, but it also cuts down on excessive length toward
the front of the gun as much as possible, making the firearm just a hair more pointable
and balanced.
Now let's talk about how someone can add one of these blasters to their collection.
Atlas uses a pretty unique strategy compared to other manufactures of these high end pistols.
The Chaos, while absolutely being hand fitted and assembled with all the same care as a
full custom build, only affords the buyer minimal modification options at the time of
purchase.
That's because the parts for the Chaos are standardized and the Chaos pistols, much like
the Titan line, are pre-produced in small runs.
So while the buyer sacrifices some of the customizable options available on a true Atlas
Open Custom Gun, the lead time on the build drops from 6 months to just 2!
That's 8 weeks for a hand assembled open gun that flat out works.
Compared to some of the other manufacturers who have lead times of over a year, that's
one heck of a unique selling point.
Whether I'm out shooting at matches or just want to take out one of the easiest and most
comfortable handguns to shoot at the range, I'm really digging the Atlas Chaos.
As always thanks for tuning in and we hope to see you in the next video.
Until then, stay sharp and shoot straight.

SCOTUS rules on Texas racial gerrymander case - Duration: 0:50.
The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that most of Texas' disputed congressional and legislative
maps don't violate racial gerrymandering policies.
In a 5-4 decision Monday, the high court upheld three out of four district maps that a lower
court ruled discriminated against black and Hispanic voters.
Justice Samuel Alito wrote in the majority opinion, "When the congressional and state
legislative districts are reviewed under the proper legal standards, all but one of them,
we conclude, are lawful."
The ruling was the latest in a series of gerrymandering cases the Supreme Court has decided in recent
days.
Also on Monday, the high court sent a dispute over North Carolina's congressional map back
to a lower court for another look.
And last week, the justices decided against getting involved in gerrymandering cases in
Maryland and Wisconsin.

How to Get Over That Broken Heart—But Also Learn From It - Duration: 6:15.
If you're the kind of person who, like, feels all the feels,
you've maybe found yourself wishing at some point or another
that you could shut them down for a little while.
Like, take the emotion chip and dial it from an 8 to a 2.
It's a little tiring being the person who cries during the cell phone commercials
or gets all riled up about the injustices in the world
or can't get over that broken heart.
So you might wish you could rely a little more on your head than your heart.
But the more we study our brains,
the more that kind of dichotomy between reason and emotion is disappearing.
And though you might wish you could rein in your feelings,
and sometimes you can—sometimes, you shouldn't.
[INTRO ♪]
We have a long history of thinking of reason and emotion as totally different things.
Plato described them as two horses pulling us in opposite directions…
and the idea hasn't really gone away since then.
We even think about our brains in those terms.
Complex thought and reasoning is right there in the term we use
for the brain region associated with it—the "cerebral cortex."
Structures like the amygdala, on the other hand, play key roles in emotion.
And that's not wrong.
There is lots of evidence to support the idea that those separate brain regions
are associated with those particular functions.
But it's also not as simple as that—
reason and emotion are also very intertwined.
Lesion and imaging studies have shown that another part of your brain,
the anterior cingulate cortex, plays a role in both.
And while different sections of it process cognition and emotion,
they do have an effect on each other.
Several meta analyses have shown that doing something cognitively demanding—
like, say, your math homework—
reduces activity in the emotional parts of the anterior cingulate cortex.
It works the other way, too:
strong emotion can suppress activity in the cognitive parts.
And the studies and reviews arguing that our so-called "emotional" and
"logical" brains are almost impossible to disentangle continue to pile up.
The fact that our feelings aren't boxed off in a separate part of our brain
explains why they affect our decision making.
Fear and anger have been shown in particular to make people
worse at negotiating for something, for example.
And a 2014 study that showed upsetting negative feedback on a test
made people do worse on subsequent logic problems.
But while we think of being quote-unquote "emotional"
as something that makes us make bad choices or think irrationally,
emotions can actually help us with judgment and decision making.
Take the case of "Elliot", a man who underwent surgery
to remove a brain tumor from his frontal lobe.
While his brain seemed totally normal afterwards…
his life completely changed.
He got fired, he made a bunch of terrible financial decisions,
and he got divorced and then remarried and then divorced again.
The conclusion that the neuroscientist studying him came to was that
his surgery had disrupted interactions between his amygdala and his frontal lobe.
His intelligence was still intact, but he wasn't really able to feel emotions.
And that made him completely incapable of making decisions.
Since he couldn't tell how his choices would make him feel later on,
he couldn't assign value to different options,
so he endlessly deliberated every little thing.
Studies in gamblers have also found that emotions helped them avoid making bad decisions.
Mistakes and failures feel lousy and the gamblers don't want to feel that way again,
so they learn to make better bets.
And the idea that emotions can actually help you make better decisions
makes a lot of evolutionary sense.
Negative emotions teach you what not to do
kind of like how physical pain teaches you not to put your hand on a hot stove.
And emotions shape other cognitive processes in helpful ways, too.
They optimize which sensory information we pay attention to,
guide our social interactions, and help us to remember the things that are most important.
But all of this isn't to say that you don't have control over your emotions at all.
Emotional regulation is a well-studied process,
and there are various points at which you can step in and tell your emotions to sit down.
So yes, you can change how you feel, how intense that feeling is,
and how long it lasts.
But... not everyone is super great at that.
A 2015 study of 176 people actually found differences
between the brains of "emotional" people and more "rational" ones.
"Emotional" people that tend to cry a lot at sad movies or freak out during scary ones
score higher on emotional empathy measures,
which basically mean they tend to actually feel what others feel.
And the researchers found that people with higher emotional empathy scores
tended to have more gray matter density in the insula—
a part of the cerebral cortex.
While it's unclear whether that made them more emotional
or whether being more emotional changed their brains…
it does really solidify the idea that there are individual differences
in how we feel and deal with emotions.
And in general, studies have found older people control their feelings
better than younger ones—perhaps because practice makes perfect.
But the good news is, if you're sometimes more emotional than you'd like to be,
there are things you can do both to control your emotions
and to use your emotional powers for good.
For one, the timing of when you try to control an emotion is super important.
So rather than trying to suppress an emotion once you're already in the midst of it,
it's much more effective to reframe the way you're thinking about a situation
while an emotion is forming.
And this sounds weird, but…
talking to ourselves in the third person can give us
enough distance to think about things differently.
So Hank, you should remember that next time you want to dial things back.
And, framing matters too.
Corny as it sounds, looking for the silver lining,
or at least seeing the situation as a challenge to overcome
rather than an emotional blow, can help you bounce back faster.
But ultimately, it's not always a bad thing to feel those feels.
While some feelings suck, they're kind of important.
Listening to your feelings instead of fighting them
can help you identify what's really wrong, so you have a chance to change it.
Because emotions are not the mortal enemy of logical thought.
They're just trying to help ... sometimes they just do it a little too much.

The Truth About Marvel's Silver Surfer - Duration: 6:47.
Of all the cosmic heroes roaming around the spaceways of the Marvel Universe, none have
ever been as prominent as the Silver Surfer.
Created by Jack Kirby in the pages of Fantastic Four, he made his first appearance as the
herald of the world-devouring Galactus, and would grow to become one of the biggest cult
favorites on Marvel's roster.
From his unlikely origins to his his surprising prominence in cartoons and even video games,
here's the real truth behind Norrin Radd, the Silver Surfer.
The Coming of Galactus
In 1966, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby plotted a story for Fantastic Four in which an unstoppable
cosmic threat showed up to devour the world.
When Kirby turned in the pages for Fantastic Four #48, though, Stan was surprised to find
that they featured a chrome-plated spaceman flying around on a surfboard.
Kirby explained that Galactus was such a big deal that he needed a herald to announce his
presence, and since surfing was all over pop culture in the '60s, from the Beach Boys
to Batman, his new character wound up on a cosmic surfboard.
"Surfing's not a sport, it's a way of life!"
Lee was initially wary of adding something so weird into the middle of a high-stakes
superhero drama, but it worked.
In a time when most of Marvel's competitors were still filling every issue with two or
three stories, "The Coming of Galactus" kicked off a modern, multi-part epic, with
its title villain only showing up on the last page.
The rest of the issue was devoted to the Watcher and the Silver Surfer, assuring readers that
if characters this powerful were the opening act, Galactus must be a truly big deal.
The Silver Symbolism
The initial fan reaction to the Surfer was more than a little divisive.
As the letters rolled into the Marvel offices in 1966, some readers commented that "Silver
Surfer is a corny name," while one wrote in with an angry screed asking "Why?
Why don't you give the Fantastic Four a person, a single person, to fight, and not a bunch
of space bums running around cluttering up the yarn and making the pages look utterly
disgraceful?"
Ouch.
Others were a little more kind, but the strangest commentary came from a Houston, Texas reader
named Greg Jones
"Galactus represented the Viet Cong, the powerful aggressor, but not realizing fully his error.
[...] The Silver Surfer, as America, helped a lesser people in their time of need, even
though he himself was not involved.
And Alicia characterized Stan, Marvel, the President, and all other loyal, patriotic
Americans."
Needless to say, that's a pretty wild interpretation of the a story about a space giant with a
big hat trying to eat the planet.
Even Stan Lee seemed surprised by this one, writing "We can't dot an i without someone
reading some deep subliminal message into it."
The Surfer goes solo
Despite his initial concerns, Lee clearly took a liking to the Surfer by the end of
that first story, likely because he allowed Stan to explore the kind of sci-fi storytelling
that he'd pursued before getting into comics.
Joined by artist John Buscema, Lee launched a series that would detail the Surfer's
exile on Earth.
They revealed that he was Norrin Radd, a would-be victim of Galactus's hunger who gave up
his humanity to become a herald for the Devourer of Worlds.
It represents some of Stan's best work of the era, with more philosophical stories than
the other action-packed tales he was scripting at the time.
"I made him a philosophical observer of the world and the universe."
There were, however, a few problems.
For one thing, the book just didn't sell.
Despite Stan's personal investment in the series and the Surfer's status as a cult
favorite, that original series ended after only 18 issues.
Even worse, it deepend the rift between Lee and the Surfer's creator, Jack Kirby, who
had a completely different idea for what kind of stories to tell.
Lee attempted to make amends by bringing Kirby in to tell the story of a more savage Surfer
who would act as cosmic power personified, but that story never happened, it was announced
to come next month in that final issue of the series.
Later that year, Kirby would leave Marvel for DC and the promise of more creative control,
summing up his reasons with the simple statement "I'm not going to give them another Silver
Surfer."
Now you're playing with the Power Cosmic
Given Stan Lee's affection for the Surfer, it's no surprise that Marvel would get behind
more than a few attempts to bring him to mass media.
There was a well-received but short-lived cartoon in 1998, but in 1990, the Surfer made
his video game debut on the Nintendo Entertainment System.
To give you an idea of where he ranked, the only other Marvel games on the NES at the
time starred the X-Men and the Punisher, two of the most popular franchises of the era.
He even managed to beat Spider-Man to his NES debut by two full years.
(the only thing worse than comic book-based NES games were their commercials)
Unfortunately, being early doesn't always mean being great.
While it boasted some pretty incredible graphics and a killer soundtrack, Silver Surfer is
mostly remembered for a staggering difficulty level that kept almost everyone who played
it from actually beating the game.
If they had, though, they would've been treated to a pretty bizarre plot.
Dispatched on a mission of cosmic importance by Galactus, the Silver Surfer faces foes
like Mephisto and Firelord.
The final boss, though, is Mr. Sinister, an X-Men foe with no real connection to the cosmic
side of the Marvel Universe, who is depicted as a 15 foot-tall purple hulk with a handgun
and a pair of white go-go boots.
Maybe it's for the best that nobody ever got to see him.
"I shall give birth to the future!"
Okay, weirdo.
The cinematic rise (and fall) of the Silver Surfer
In 1979, after Superman had become a massive box office success, Hollywood was suddenly
very interested in superhero movies.
In an attempt to get Marvel a foothold in the film industry, Stan Lee spent a year in
Los Angeles shopping around various projects, including a Silver Surfer pitch.
It was picked up, too, but despite being assigned a respectable $25,000,000 budget and having
Olivia Newton-John attached to star, the Surfer never managed to escape to the big screen.
28 years later, he'd finally make it, thanks to 2007's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver
Surfer.
As the title implies, there were hints at plans to spin the skyrider of the spaceways
off into his own big-screen adventure.
Unfortunately, that film's failure at the box office put an end to that, and to plans
for a third FF movie that would've potentially involved the Skrulls and the Inhumans showing
up.
In 2015, Marvel's first family was rebooted with another movie that landed with an even
more resounding thud, managing to perform even worse than its predecessors.
"It's clobberin time."
But with 35 years of Marvel trying to bring the Surfer to the big screen, it's easy to
look at Rise of the Silver Surfer as a mere setback rather than the final nail in the
coffin.
The success of cosmic-focused films like Guardians of the Galaxy and the Surfer's prominence
in stories like the original Infinity Gauntlet mean that it's not too unlikely that we'll
see Norrin Radd surfing his way into the MCU… someday.
Dedicated fans are waiting.

What If Typhon Was Real? - Duration: 5:16.
Hello and welcome back to Life's Biggest Questions, I'm Ron McKenzie-Lefurgey.
Typhon is a giant beast, with the heads of 100 snakes, believed to be responsible for
volcanic eruptions.
It was one of if not the most fearsome beasts in all of Greek Mythology, threatening Gods
and humans alike.
But what if he wasn't just a mythological creature, but actually existed?
Let's explore.
If you want more What If videos, check out our "Biggest What Ifs" playlist on the
channel.
Now get ready, it's time to ask the question: What if the Typhon was Real?
While stories of Typhon's birth do vary, the most often used depiction claims it to be
the son of Gaia and Tartarus.
This was done because Gaia was angry with the gods for destroying the Giants, who were
her offspring.
But sadly, Typhon wasn't a cute little baby; he is widely believed to be the deadliest
beast in all of Greek Mythology, so ferocious that he struck fear into the hearts of many
Gods.
He was incredibly powerful, possessing the heads of 100 serpents, which could breathe
fire.
The heads were also said to give off every sound known to man, and many previously unknown,
from animal sounds, to terrifying, unholy utterances.
Amazingly, Typhon was so powerful that the Gods were unsure if he could be defeated.
However, Zeus was convinced to give it a shot, and engaged in a brutal, tumultuous battle
with the great beast.
In the end, Zeus was victorious, and imprisoned Typhon beneath the ground.
This led Zeus to ascend and become leader of the gods, and relegated Typhon to creating
natural disasters, such as volcanic eruptions and brutal typhoons.
So, now we know a bit about Typhon; what would happen if he was real?
Well, in the original mythology, the climactic battle between Typhon and Zeus led to the
defeat of Typhon, and the rise of Zeus as leader of the Gods.
However, in the real world, as far as we know, there is no Zeus.
This means that there would be no powerful deity to defeat Typhon, and the great beast
would be up to humanity to defeat.
The question then would become, what's more powerful: nukes or Zeus?
If nuclear weapons WERE able to harm Typhon, then it's possible that humanity would be
able to defeat him.
It would result in a good deal of collateral damage, but considering the alternative would
likely be either a brutal death, or a life of slavery, it would likely be done.
This would have long-lasting consequences for the people of earth.
Of course, it would result in many deaths, and the areas that had been nuked would be
devastated.
Those who survived would have horrific stories to tell.
It could even bring the people of Earth closer together, bringing about greater cooperation
in case another such beast reared its ugly head.
However, given Typhon's ability to raze cities and hurl mountains around, as well
as his godly ancestry, there's a good chance that even our strongest weapons would not
be able to harm him.
In this case, we would hurl our nukes at him impotently, and he would respond with great
devastation.
This would, of course, be bad news for humanity, as our fates would be in the hands of Typhon.
But this is all assuming the Typhon suddenly appeared in modern day, with us having already
had a chance to develop.
If the Typhon came to be in ancient Greek times, there is no way they would have been
able to kill the beast.
This would give allow the him to rule the Earth easily.
And unfortunately, he wouldn't look quite so kindly upon humans.
If Typhon was in charge, there's a good chance that humans would be relegated mostly
to either slaves or food for him and his children.
This brings up the matter of his children.
In the original mythology, Typhon married Echidna, the half-human, half-snake goddess,
and had children.
These included the Sphinx, the Nemean Lion, the Chimera, and the Hydra, among others.
This led Typhon to be known as the Father of All Monsters.
In reality, however, Echidna would not exist, and so it might be difficult for Typhon to
have children.
That said, it's possible that he would be able to manipulate and twist earthly animals
to become more his style, and would then treat them as his children.
It's even possible that he would be able to procreate with a female of earth, human
or animal, thus giving rise to a number of distorted creations.
Since his powers are relatively unknown, having been defeated in the mythology, the possibilities
are endless.
If he managed to create more offspring, he would shape the world, with the help of his
human slaves, to fit the whims of himself and his children.
The world might be divided, with each child ruling over their own domain, each in charge
of keeping the humans living in their area in line.
Humanity would likely be kept as slaves, to do the dirty work, while Typhon and his children
lived it up and prospered.
Eventually, as the children continued to reproduce, the world would become more and more populated
by these monsters, and in time, humans may no longer be necessary.
At which point, most of us would likely be disposed of, to leave room for the new monsters.
With enough time, it could be that these creatures would create their own societies, perhaps
even splitting in conflict.
This could lead to global conflicts, the likes of which the Earth has never seen.
If these conflicts were brutal enough, it's possible that the Earth as we know it would
be destroyed and made unliveable.
And yes, the idea that these monsters would take over the world, and then make it unliveable
for themselves, does have parallels to climate change.
But I swear it wasn't intentional.
And now we return to our question: What if the Typhon was Real?
Well, we'd be in big trouble.
If he suddenly appeared in modern times, we might be able to deal with him using nuclear
weapons.
But if they weren't effective, or he appeared back in the times of Ancient Greece, Typhon
would become the new leader of the world.
He would try to find a way to have children, and rule the Earth with their help, keeping
a portion of humanity alive to act as slaves.
Down the line, as the monsters grew in number, humanity may become unnecessary.
But even further down the line, there's a chance that war would break out between
these monsters, a war that could turn the world into a wasteland, that wouldn't even
support said monsters.

Cyberpunk 2077 Sex, Nudity & Cyberpsychosis - The Transhumanist Approach - Duration: 7:48.
Greetings Earthlings! Welcome to the MadQueen show!
I am your host the MadQueen
On today's menu, we have a new Cyberpunk 2077 video for you and today we're going
to talk about the depiction of sex and nudity in the universe of Cyberpunk 2077 under the
transhumanist approach of this universe
The adult nature of the upcoming video game Cyberpunk 2077 has fans wondering how the
subjects of nudity and sexuality are going to be depicted in this universe, and if we
can expect to see some scenes similar to The Witcher 3 where you had the chance to romance
and have sex with several characters
But CD Projekt RED is a Polish studio and one of the biggest cultural differences between
Europe and the United States is our approach to nudity: while in America nudity is seen
as something sexual and often used to exploit its shock value, in Europe nudity is not always
seen as something sexual, it's treated with more naturality and it's often used to reflect
philosophical ideas about humanity
Although Cyberpunk 2077 is set in America, nudity in the game is part of a visual interpretation
by European game developers
Therefore, the European approach to nudity is the canvas where the dystopian transhumanism
of Cyberpunk 2077 is portrayed
Transhumanism is an intellectual and artistic movement that aims to transform the human
condition, or to speculate about such transformation, by developing and making available sophisticated
technologies to greatly enhance human intellect and physiology, transcending the limitations
as well as the physical identity of human beings
Transhumanist themes have become increasingly prominent in speculative fiction depicting
both positive renditions of technologically enhanced human beings in techno-utopian societies,
as well as more pessimistic approaches where the alteration of the human species
has darker consequences
The most notorious example of the darker approach is the Cyberpunk genre, exemplified by William
Gibson's Neuromancer or Nancy Kress' The Beggars Trilogy
Cyberpunk's vision of this technological enhancement of humans collides with the conception
of the body in our modern society that descends from a religious Christian culture, which
sees the body as a temple, something sacred, the vessel of the soul and, at the same time
the embodiment of human identity
Under this cultural perspective, body modifications not only modify and enhance the human body,
they also desacralize the body, modifying the body's identity
You're talking about redefining my identity
I want a guarantee that I can still be myself
This speculation of the identity
of a modified human body was masterfully depicted by Mamoru Oshii
in his masterpiece Ghost in the Shell
based on the manga of the same name by Masamune Shirow
While Shirow's manga aims for a more comical representation, Oshii's film delves deeper
into the philosophical limitations of the current conception of humanity
in a techno-dystopian society
And can you offer me proof of your existence?
How can you, when neither modern science nor philosophy
can explain what life is?
Ghost in the Shell is also one of the most significant inspirations of Cyberpunk 2077
game director Adam Badowski, when it comes to representing the transhumanist side of
Mike Pondsmith's Cyberpunk universe and its particulars
In the universe of Cyberpunk 2077, body enhancement has very dark consequences for a person's
identity, because of the addition of metal and plastic into their bodies, people lose
touch with their humanity and could eventually descend into cyberpsychosis
Cyberpsychosis is the most common and dangerous mental illness in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe
and a key component of its philosophy
This illness is characterized by a total loss of empathy and a total inability to relate
to human beings anymore
Cyberpsychos are people who modify themselves to the point of becoming sociopaths, enhancing
their bodies but losing their humanity, and therefore their identity along the way
How can these philosophical ideas be depicted in a video game?
According to game director Adam Badowski, nudity will serve as a tool to represent the
identity of the human body, identity that can be lost with augmentations, and, with
it, its connection to humanity
This depiction of identity will be accompanied by game mechanics that associate enhancements
with a loss of humanity and solid, deep and layered storytelling, trademark of CD Projekt
RED, that will subtly drive us into the transhumanist side of Cyberpunk 2077
Well, folks, thanks for watching

the dark future
