Waching daily Jun 26 2018

welcome back, my name is Rodney and this is Kwikspellco

recently I went to the Warner Bros Studio Tour

Making of Harry Potter and of course I couldn't help myself but

purchase a few items so if you would like to see if my Warner Bros Studio Tour Haul

then let's get on with the video

So the first item, now I know you're gonna be thinking

another Hufflepuff Scarf , but yes, I purchased another Newt Scamander scarf

the reason because my other one that I've got which is exactly the same as

this one is, I've literally worn to death it was like the first winter when the

the first film came out, I wore it, last winter as well, it's like starting to

get a bit old and I want to have a new fresh one and also it was on discount

so I was thinking, does that mean they're gonna stop doing it because I haven't seen Newt

wearing this scarf in any of the new Crimes of Grindelwald like footage so

I don't know if they are going stop doing it and I really want to still wear this if the occasion

calls for it so that's why I got that one so yes judge me yes another Hufflepuff scarf

but I had to have it

if you've been to the studio tour, you'll know

there's a few different shops there's actually one there's a main gift shop

that you'll see as you go in which is the gift shop that you exit on but there

are actually some other shops there is the Forbidden Forest shop and there's

also a Platform 9 3/4 shop and they do actually have different things

and I was going through the Forbidden Forest shop and I saw something there that

I wanted to get, but I was like 'oh they'll have at the end shop' and then I

went all the way to the end and when you leave you can't go back and then when I

was at the end gift shop they didn't have it so I was like 'oh goodness'

and then when I went to MinaLima to buy this particular item it turns out they

actually stopped doing it so I was like 'oh goodness I really should have bought

it, when I was in the Forbidden Forest shop' so when I went around this time I made sure

to keep like my eyes peeled for this item and fortunately they still had them

at the Forbidden Forest shop and I was like beside myself because like apparently

they stopped doing this and it was the MACUSA notepad Set. It's two notepads

and I've already purchased one and used them and I was thinking 'I'll just refill them' and then

low the behold they stopped doing it and I was like 'what the hell am I

gonna do now' so I didn't just buy one I actually bought two because why? I'm

gonna use one and the other one I'm gonna keep forever and ever

because, I can't get these anymore so I was like yeah I need to get these and live

my wizard stationery life so of course I had to get these

so as I explained, after the Forbidden Forrest shop I went round to the Platform 9 3/4 shop, I was

looking around there there's a few things in there as well I went for this

a butterbeer t-shirt and I thought it's so cute and so like subtle and totally

like I can wear this and people will be like, it's kinda Harry Potter but not like majorly Harry Potter

if you know I mean so that's why I bought this one

okay looking through the final gift shop there is just so much that you can buy so I did purchase

a chocolate frog and I haven't open it so I thought I'd do the live opening

well not live but you know I mean open and then show you exactly which card I get

ok so now that I've opened the plastic, let's see what I got...okay, I'm a bit apprehensive here

so it's actually quite a big chocolate frog if you've not

purchased one of these before, you may not actually expect how big this frog is it

is actually enormous and it's like proper solid chocolate it's not like a

hollow like chocolate egg or anything this is a proper solid chocolate frog

okay and I can spy the frog card at the bottom so I haven't seen what it is yet

but I'm gonna like look at the same time as you

Gilderoy Lockhart! Oh my god that's so funny

I didn't know you can get it famous wizard card of his, that's so funny

okay so I'm not disappointed because

this is actually hilarious I really didn't know that you can get a Chocolate Frog card of

Gilderoy Lockhart and it does move, that's so funny, oh my god total Chamber of Secrets

so it says 1964 - is he still alive

Wizarding Celebrity author Gilderoy Lockhart wrote many books on

his encounters with dark creatures and received many prestigious awards

including order of Merlin, third-class an honorary member of the dark force

Defense League. After losing his memory in a series of unfortunate events

(ok we know those)

he released his final book entitled Who am I

that's so funny, oh my goodness

if you're actually going to the Studio Tour there is obviously a lot to purchase and it can

get very expensive but there are a few freebies that you can actually get as

part of it now there's not many but the few freebies are actually at the moment

are which is always at the time well you can always get this is one of these

passports and it's more for like kids but of course I was gonna do it because

I'm totally obsessed with Harry Potter and it has got little activities and it helps you it's like

basically you collect the stamps, now this is an uncompleted one because I've completed

before but basically find the stamps and then you put this piece of paper in the

stamping machine that's like an embosser basically and there's different ones

so that's free you don't pay for that you should collect that they give it to

you and you just ask this people all over they have these books the other

amazing free item that I was so obsessed with that I was like I really really

really hope I get this free item because there's a Goblet of Fire feature the

Goblet of Fire is actually in the Great Hall and actually shoots a bit of paper out

and it's obviously recreating the Harry, like, selection

so this time it's every time

you're going to Great Hall they do it thingy and it does shoot out one

piece of paper and then in the crowd, someone will get out I was thinking I

really really hope I catch it. I didn't catch it but apparently my friend who I was with there

WeasleysBook (Shauna) was very graciously advised me that there was

a just around outside the Great Hall there's like a little bit then there's

like a draw with loads of these pieces of paper there for free that you can

just take and it was this piece

now I don't know why I got so obsessed

over piece of paper but I really wanted this freebie, so I can go with my

self-made Fleur Delacour, obviously I made that and you can see that in

another video if you want to make that yourself but this is actually from the

Studio Tour, it's free I was like totally obsessed, I can't believe I

was so obsessed over getting a piece of paper, I was so pleased I did, so

I've got that now, I'm so excited so yeah that'll go as part of my collection finally

that's it for this week's video, thank you very much for watching, I hope you've enjoyed seeing

that Warner Bros Studio Tour Haul, if you have please give me a thumbs up

Tamika Mallory Says Death Of Son's Father Started Her Activism | BET Her Awards - Duration: 1:11.

>> I'm Tamika Danielle Mallory.

>> I'm a mother. I'm an activist and I'm a black woman.

So my parents were founding members

of the National Action Network

which is Reverend Al Sharpton's organization.

I saw it as being a curse. I'm grateful for it today.

After the death of my son's father I realized

that activism was going to be my full lifetime commitment.

It's a struggle that you know has been life long

but I don't feel that any of us can do it alone.

It's a real commitment that we have to take on as a community.

Five million people across the world

participated in the women's march on Washington.

I think the feeling of desperation

has really pushed a lot of people in

and got them charged up wanting to be a part

of something that's bigger than themselves.

Even those who are not.

As privileged as you deserve your support.

Thank you BET

Her for honoring me with this Social Justice Award.

Pawn Stars Pay Tribute To Richard 'The Old Man' Harrison - Duration: 3:52.

Best known to Pawn Stars fans as "The Old Man," Richard Harrison passed away on Monday,

June 25th at the age of 77 after a battle with Parkinson's disease.

Harrison founded and operated the Las Vegas-based World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop, which

he opened in 1989.

The Harrison family business later became the focal point of the hit History Channel

reality show which debuted in July 2009 and follows the day-to-day happenings of the Harrison

family and their team of experts.

Following his passing, the Pawn Stars team paid tribute to Harrison, remembering the

man he was and the work ethic he had.

Harrison's son, Rick Harrison, for example, shared two separate tributes to his father

on Instagram.

The first is a snap of the Old Man wearing dark sunglasses and a fedora, with the touching

caption that read in part:

"He was my hero and I was fortunate to get a very cool 'Old Man' as my dad.

That I got to share him with so many others and they got to see what a great family man

he was is something I am grateful to have experienced with him.

He lived a very full life [...] touched the lives of people all over, teaching them the

value of loving your family, hard work, and humor."

Rick later posted a photo of his father from his days in the U.S. Navy with the caption:

"Today I lost a friend, a father, a teacher, and so much more.

The Old Man lost his long battle with Parkinson's this morning.

Love you Dad.

See you on the other side."

Similarly, Corey Harrison, also known as "Big Hoss" to fans and family alike, remembered

his grandfather as more than just a family member.

Harrison was more like a best friend to Corey, who began helping out at the Gold & Silver

Pawn Shop when he was just 9 years old, later becoming the store's full-time manager.

In his own Instagram tribute, he shared a younger Harrison wearing a suit and striped

tie, writing:

"I was lucky enough to spend 15 years of my life working with the Old Man.

He wasn't just a grandfather, he was truly a best friend as well.

I'm truly blessed to have had him as a mentor.

He will be missed everyday."

Corey's childhood friend and fellow shop worker Austin "Chumlee" Russell also remembered Harrison

as a kind, humorous man who offered honesty and tough love when it mattered most.

He wrote on Twitter:

"It's hard to believe he is gone.

He was such a big part of my life and treated me like family.

I will miss him greatly and carry the lessons he taught me throughout my life.

You could always count on him to straighten you out or make you laugh and both of those

things I need."

Meanwhile, Steve Grad, one of the many experts featured on Pawn Stars, honored the Old Man

on social media as well, writing on Facebook:

"I'm very thankful that I got to spend some extra time with him last month while doing

some work at the shop.

It was great to see him tour the shop floor making sure it was set up for the day.

May you Rest In Peace fine sir."

Soon after the news of Harrison's passing was made public, the History Channel shared

a heartfelt tweet remembering their quirky screen star by writing:

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of our friend Richard 'The Old Man' Harrison, a beloved

member of the HISTORY and @pawnstars family.

He will be greatly missed for his wisdom and candor.

Our thoughts are with the Harrison family during this difficult time."

The Gold & Silver Pawn Shop Facebook page also honored Harrison with a tribute that

read, in part:

"He will be remembered as the best father, grandfather, and great-grandfather you could

have by his family and by fans as the sometimes grumpy (always loving, however), often wisecracking,

and voice of absolute reason on the History television show Pawn Stars."

One thing's for sure.

The Old Man won't soon be forgotten.

spontaneous in the garden it is an absolutely glorious day it's beautiful

here today and it's also very very hot right now here in England we are having

something called a heat wave we are having a heat wave at the moment that

means that the temperature is higher than it normally is so normally in the

summer we will have nice temperatures nice weather it will feel war but

sometimes the temperature rise is much higher than it normally does and that is

what is happening at the moment we are having a heat wave here in England there

is a song by the way sung by nul coward called mad dogs and Englishmen go out in

the midday Sun so here I am now one of the hottest times of the day I must be

crazy and also I am live on YouTube I hope you

can hear me ok I have set all of this up in a hurry so I've put the camera

outside I have my microphone outside I also have you on the live chat as well

so I hope you can hear me and see me ok I hope you can see me clearly look I

have a big bottle of water as well because I have a feeling that I might

get a little bit thirsty during this live stream now the big question is

is anyone watching is anyone out there I really really hope so

first of all let me put my water down on the ground that's better so let's have a

look at the live chat shall we let's see if there is anyone on there maybe there

isn't maybe there's no one there in which case why am I here so let's see

anybody on the live chat oh yes there are there are people on the live chat oh

thank goodness for that let's see who was here then earlier hey Dell hello hey

Dell hello prashanta hello Lucas also flower flower Wow amazing view yes it's

absolutely gorgeous here today the weather is amazing it is so hot I can't

begin to tell you how hot it is at the moment here in England it's around about

28 degrees at the moment it is blistering I love that word

blistering if the weather is blistering it means that it's very hot very hot

indeed hello to Selma also to Thomas and also to Livvy Livvy

hello Livvy Livvy nice to see you here today I hope you are well I hope you can

teach me English so I can be an English teacher in Hong Kong

oh well Livvy I will try my best and of course you have come to the best place

because I've been teaching English here on YouTube for over 11 years it's true

I've been here for over 11 years this is now my 12th year on YouTube don't forget

there are live subtitles so as I talk to you now you will be able to watch

subtitles at the bottom of the screen yeah

this is something that YouTube have recently introduced so now you can

actually watch the livestream and also you can see the subtitles underneath you

have to click on the subtitle button and then you can have them oh yes

Thank You Tran nam Tran says I love your garden it's beautiful today here and of

course during the summer months in England all of the leaves are out all of

the flowers come into bloom everything looks quite amazing hello mr.

Duncan I hope you are okay I am okay amra wardi I am of course taking a very

big risk today because recently I've been suffering from hay fever so I'm

hoping that I don't start sneezing so if I start sneezing I do apologize it is

because of my seasonal allergy normally during the summer months I get hay fever

which causes me to sneeze and it makes my eyes very sore and my nose starts to

run so if I do start doing that I apologize hello it's very hot - in

France says Mary Claude hello Marie yes it's very hot here you can see that I'm

standing in the Sun it's it's blistering here what I'm trying to do at the moment

is to get some shelter under the tree but of course the Sun is always moving

so I have to make sure that I don't spend too much time in the direct

sunlight because of course it isn't good for you if you spend too much time in

the Sun it is not good for you it's definitely not good for your skin anyway

hello man says Ahmed Ahmed al Ferrari Oh hello there nice to see you nice to see

you today hello mr. Duncan hi there

from I think that's from Russia oh we have someone in Russia watching that's

great nice to see you meanwhile mr. Duncan we have heavy rain

in Indonesia says ts really hmm but of course if you live in a tropical country

and you get rain and normally it means that the temperature will stay very high

it will become very humid humid lots of moisture in the air and a Reacher is

here hello Ana thanks for joining me today this is a spontaneous livestream I

have nothing planned I just thought it would be a good idea to come outside for

a while and share some of this lovely summer sunshine with you because we are

having a heat wave here in England you should be able to get subtitles I'm just

checking now to see if there are any live subtitles so please bear with me

let's just see if there are some live subtitles did you do yes there should be

subtitles there should be subtitles on the screen at the moment so if you are

watching on an Android device or if you are watching on a PC you can have live

subtitles it's incredible they are live yes so I've just checked and they are

there on the screen incredible Wow that's rather impressive to be honest

Noor Khalil says hello mr. Duncan I'm watching from Somalia

today is the 58th anniversary of when Somaliland got their independence

from britain in 1960 a very long time ago 58 years ago in fact before I was

born yes that's how long ago it is it was

even before I was born that's a very long time ago hello from the Czech

Republic it is the first time to watch you on the livestream

Radek hello Reddick Vamshi it's okay yes you are welcome no problem

hello from the Czech Republic and also AM reward he says yes it's

incredible so if you are watching on an Android device or if you are watching on

a PC not an Apple device because apparently the live subtitles don't work

at the moment so some people might have subtitles on the live chat or on the

live stream and some might not so that's why I'm saying now this is something

that's only just being introduced and I am one of the first people on YouTube to

have this it's true hello I'm from Belarus and my name is Aleksandr nice to

meet you mr. Duncan hello Alexander nice to see you

so actually you are in Belarus well a big hello to Belarus and also to you

Alexander I hope you are watching and enjoying and staying cool unlike me

because at the moment it is boiling hot it is so hot at the moment here in

England about 28 degrees we are having a heat wave yes I am using an iPad and

there are no subtitles that's right if you are using an iPad or an Apple device

you will not be able to get the live subtitles why can't you just say happy

Independence Day to Somalia in well I will say happy Independence Day

to Somalia 58 years ago today incredible I'm on my laptop and it really does work

Thank You Amory I hope you are enjoying the live subtitles this is something

that only started last Sunday so on Sunday the live subtitles were

introduced on my youtube channel so this is brand new so I think today this is a

very good opportunity to test the live subtitles English online says hello I'm

your follower and you are my idol I think you mean Idol Daniela

hello mr. Duncan thanks for this spontaneous livestream yes I did not

plan to do this today this is completely spontaneous I didn't plan this so

everything I'm saying now is completely spontaneous I haven't prepared anything

oh my goodness don't forget I am back tomorrow night at 10 p.m. UK time so I

will be back tomorrow at 10 p.m. UK time so yes I'm very pleased to hear that the

live subtitles are working for those who can get them they are now available if

you are watching on an Android device or if you are watching on a PC but it won't

work at the moment on anything else here it is rainy and it's 22 degrees Oh a

little cooler but I would imagine it feels very humid at the moment where you

are are you married a lot of people ask if I'm married well I'm not married and

that's the reason why I always look so happy because I'm not married

I'm very glad to hear that the live stream is working and also the live

subtitles best guitar covers oh I see do you like playing the guitar I wish I

could unfortunately I can't play the guitar I wish I could mr. Duncan I am

watching in Morocco and I'm very happy to be your student on YouTube thanks for

teaching us you are welcome no problem it's my pleasure that's the reason why I

do this indigo says what a surprise

ah what a surprise I'm so surprised to see you here

on the livestream Thank You indigo or indigo for that I have just received

news in Arizona that it's very hot and scorching and many people are dead

because of that do you mean here well I can assure you at the moment I don't

think anyone has died because of the heat here unless of course you're

talking about another country hello from Tenerife we are having a wonderful day

here in the beautiful Tenerife I'm so jealous

how nice but I think here maybe here it's just as hot so maybe here in

England it is just as hot as it is there in Tenerife perhaps subtitles will be

working if your speech is so clear but I prefer not to use them okay Anna some

people like to use the subtitles whilst other people don't like to use them so

to be honest it's it's entirely up to you I hope you can see me okay because

the sunlight is now coming down on me quite harshly so I hope you can actually

see me

yes the subtitles would be working because your speech is clear yes thank

you very much I'm glad that my speech is coming through clearly Russia is

gratefully watching and listening to you well of course the world is watching

Russia at the moment because of the World Cup that is taking place and of

course the other day on Sunday England beat Panama so England are still in the

World Cup what about your country is your country still in the World Cup are

they still there by the way mr. Duncan your camera is very clear thank you very

much for that this is a live stream from my garden live from England and just to

prove it it is now 20 minutes past 2:00 o'clock 20 past 2:00 on a Tuesday

afternoon 20 past 2 and mr. Duncan is here with you I think it's better just

to listen to and not read the subtitles in my opinion some people like to read

the subtitles they prefer to have the subtitles on the screen whilst other

people like to listen without subtitles and then if they do that then it will

improve their listening skills so maybe if you are learning English maybe if you

are just starting out on your road to learning the English language then

perhaps watching the subtitles is a good idea so some people like to watch the

subtitles whilst others prefer not to beautiful nature in your backyard when I

see it I have a big desire to go on vacation well I was going to say the

same thing but I don't need to I don't actually need to go on vacation I can

just I can just stand in my god and enjoy it yes it's very hot here very

hot indeed in fact I'm standing here in the CERN and I can feel the Sun on my

arms oh I've just had a lovely compliment about my hat this is my hat

my big hat that I wear when I'm out in the sunshine and this will protect my

neck and also my face and the top of my head from the harmful sunshine thank you

Lydia Lydia for your lovely lovely comment Lydia Oh Lydia Oh have you seen

Lydia Lydia the tattooed lady English online says I am also unmarried and very

happy like you and I want to be a great English teacher please suggest to me

ways and also teach in Canada with my strong desire so English online I think

you want to actually go to Canada to teach English good luck with that how

can I buy a watch like yours because I really love it well this particular

watch isn't very expensive it was actually quite cheap so this is not an

expensive watch I don't normally buy expensive watches so this is my little

Timex watch I think I think it was quite cheap and I've had this for five years

over five years and it uses a battery and the battery has lasted since I

bought the actual watch itself so yes over five years this watch has been

running with the same battery amazing don't you just love technology isn't it

great it really is

mr. Duncan can you teach us some ways to say it's very hot there are many ways to

say it's hot you can say it's boiling it's scorching it's sweltering it's

boiling hot it's blistering blistering so there are many ways of talking about

the hot weather and if you are out in the hot weather there are many ways of

describing it you can say it's hot it's scorching it's sweltering it's searing

oh yes you can have searing heat searing yes so there are many many differences

one name asks what are the differences between American English in British

English well first of all can I just say that there is only one English language

so the basic root of all English is the English language which is just one thing

then of course you have the differences between accents and also some of the

differences between the spellings of words so those are the main differences

but to be honest when you're talking about the root of English there is only

one English language

hot what is the difference between hot warm and heat well heat just means

general heat so or it is hot generally so we talk about the heat or maybe if

you are specifying a certain temperature you might talk about a certain heat or a

certain temperature the heat is about 28 to

Riis or of course if you are cooking food you might have to put your oven on

you might have to heat the oven so it can be used also as a verb as well to

heat something up or you can say the heat is unbearable and that means that

we are using it as a noun then of course there is hot well if something is hot it

has a high temperature and what's the other one I can't warm well warm means

it is quite hot so it isn't really hot it is warm we might say that if the heat

or the temperature is pleasant and bearable maybe we can say that it is

warm so it is not too hot it is warm warm mr. Duncan I highly recommend you

leave a pause for the subtitles to work well well I don't want to speak too

slowly or else that might sound very strange if I start speaking very slowly

well there are many trees behind you I wish I could live in the place like that

Thank You Kwang yes the garden is looking rather nice at the moment there

are lots of beautiful flowers the trees at the moment are looking quite

magnificent they are well can we combine among British accent I'm not sure what

you mean by that well there are many different British accents just in the

same way that there are many different American accents

in fact in every language there are different accents in India oh sorry I'm

Indira from Colombia and I really love the way you teach thank you I'm having

difficulty seeing the phone because the sun is shining on it can you see that

the Sun is reflecting off the phone into my face so I do apologize if I

mispronounce your name my phone is red-hot it is so hot at the

moment I hope it doesn't explode so live chat very busy can you talk about trees

to get some information well there are many different types of tree in the

garden behind me over there you can see there is an apple tree over there just

above me can you see just above me this is a cherry tree a little cherry tree

can you see it with its beautiful red leaves so there is the cherry tree and

that's what I'm standing by at the moment and also just over this side you

can't see it at the moment there is a dams and tree dams ins a dam

zone is a type of fruit it can be very sour quite bitter to the taste and also

just there can you see there that particular tree is called a conifer

conifer it is a special type of tree it is also called an evergreen because in

the autumn it doesn't lose its leaves

excuse me I had to have a little sneeze then because my hay fever is starting to

affect me oh dear that's not good is it

that's better I had to wipe my nose I apologize for that

hello my lovely teacher would you like to tell me to teach the same way you are

teaching for example to pronounce words correctly well the best way to learn how

to pronounce words is to listen to the way in which they are pronounced so this

is why I enjoy doing these live streams I like to do this because it gives you a

good opportunity a good chance to listen to English being spoken and of course

this is spontaneous spontaneous there is nothing planned I don't plan

this so I'm standing here now talking to you live at just after 2:30 half past

2:00 on a Tuesday afternoon the 26th of June so that's basically my advice

hi mr. Duncan what are you doing what a nice surprise Thank You Nicole for that

it's very nice to be here even though I am taking a risk at the moment because

my hay fever has been very bad today so I hope I don't start sneezing too much a

few moments ago I was sneezing for which I apologize

mr. Duncan I am Raza from Hong Kong I am your fan

you have inspired my life I want to prepare videos like you according to my

major please continue your videos you are famous in Hong Kong really Thank You

Reza for that I did not realize I didn't realize that I'm famous in Hong Kong Wow

I used to be famous in China because I used to live there I lived there for

over four years can you believe it mr. Duncan you are one hour ahead of us

I live in Egypt in the north of Africa oh I see you're not very far away really

so the time zone is very similar so I am one hour ahead so you are one hour

behind if there's one thing that always confuses me it's all of the different

time zones around the world there are so many different time zones so depending

on where you are in the world there are many different time zones and sometimes

it can get very very confusing I know is is starting to itch and that's never a

good sign hello mr. Duncan why do you use do as I

do apologize normally we use do to give more of a meaning to what we're saying

you are sort of reinforcing the emotion oh I do apologize so can you can hear

there is some stress in the voice when you say oh I do apologize

I do apologize you are reinforcing you are showing that

you are very sorry for the thing I am so sorry I do apologize I think there's a

helicopter coming so in a moment there might be a large helicopter coming over

the house I can hear it approaching can you hear

the helicopter flying overhead it goes high thank you thank you for disturbing

my livestream with your helicopter to stop Varon I thought I always get

excited when mr. Steve arrives well sadly today mr. Steve is not here

because he is working he's not even here at the moment I think it's just the

other way round Egypt must be one hour ahead of the UK

oh okay then so actually it's later in Egypt and we are one hour behind you yes

I think you might be right there do you see what I mean I can't I get so

confused by the time zones they really confuse me do English people use the

proverb it's raining cats and dogs well only if it's raining so sometimes we

might use it in a humorous way so oh it's raining cats and dogs well actually

at the moment it isn't raining cats and dogs

what a beautiful yellow flower behind you mr. Duncan yes there are some lovely

flowers just behind me can you see them over there there are some lovely yellow

flowers and they have actually come out over the past two

days so a couple of days ago they all start to come out so maybe tomorrow

night or maybe next Sunday I will show you those flowers close-up is that a

deal I hope so you are right mr. Duncan yes I

think oh I am right I am an hour before you oh okay then what mr. Duncan hi from

London the weather is amazing here as well says Julia gulia Julia Oh Julia you

are watching in London I imagine it's very hot there in fact I think it's even

hotter so here it's hot but I think down in London it's even hotter I think today

in London it's going to be about 30 30 degrees in London here it's only about

28 degrees you speak slowly on YouTube compared to my old colleagues you speak

slow the accent is not important but as a language teacher speaking accurately

is more important yes I think so well there are two reasons why I'm

speaking slowly today one is because I'm speaking to people who might not

understand all of English and the other reason is we have live subtitles yes

so as I'm speaking here right now there are live subtitles that's amazing thank

you once again to YouTube for giving me live subtitles isn't that amazing yes

this is a surprise lesson sujin watching in South Korea at the moment a big hello

to South Korea would you like to teach us writing well

that's a good idea yes not at the moment though because I can't

do it in the garden because I don't have a pen and I don't have any paper and

also it's a little bit too bright what do you do for a living in my general

life well I teach English I write about English so that's my main job and of

course for over 11 years yes it's true for over eleven years I've been here on

YouTube teaching English to you for free people say mr. Duncan are you crazy

why do you do it you so you you go on YouTube you appear on YouTube and you do

all of this for free I I'm not charging you for this this is all free this is my

time and giving this to you for free incredible was the helicopter flying

above you or over you well it was doing both so it went above me and also it

flew over me so sometimes above can happen for just a very short time so the

helicopter was flying and for a moment it was above me but then it continued to

fly onwards it carried on so for a moment it was above me but of course we

can also say that the helicopter was flying over me or the helicopter flew

over me as past tense so there are many many ways of doing that

I don't have any subtitles live why well Nicole it depends what you are watching

your videos on so if you are using a mobile device that is made by Apple then

you won't have the subtitles live and of course if you are using a computer

that's made by Apple or uses the iOS system you will not have subtitles

however if you are using an Android device like this or a PC then you will

have live subtitles isn't that nice mr. Duncan would you be scared of those

trees because I know trees have wild animals such as snakes no kemal

fortunately we don't have any poisonous snakes here we do have some snakes but

they are very small and they are harmless so no I'm not afraid oh hello

you could go outside yes I can I can go outside and I am outside right now even

though I've been suffering from hay fever today I am outside what do you

think do you think I'm very brave doing that I think so mr. Duncan I also want

to congratulate you for England's football team the England football

players demonstrated a perfect play in their last match Thank You Reza Reza

hadi for that lovely comment thank you very much I will be going soon this is

only a short live stream I am now standing out in the Sun on a very hot

day here in England for those who have just joined me

Nicole says I have a see and I don't have subtitles well you

have to click on the small button underneath there is a small button

underneath and you click on that and then the subtitles will appear so you

have to click on the small subtitle button which is at the bottom of the

screen so I hope that helps Viet Pham van says hello hello - Viet Pham Nam

watching in Viet Nam I think are you watching at the moment in Viet Nam I

know that I have lots and lots of viewers in Viet Nam mr. Duncan I like

that you do not concentrate on grammar and instead concentrate on listening

skills and vocabulary the best part about you is that you are so good at

describing things around you well that is because I've been doing this for many

many years I started doing this a long time ago 15 years ago in fact can you

believe it I am bold as you and I want to buy is your I don't know what that

means let me just have a look there I can't quite read that oh it's gone it's

gone sorry about that mr. Duncan beautiful scenery thank you Chris for

that I'm having difficulty reading the screen because the Sun now is shining on

my on my phone can you see the Sun is now shining on my face and my phone is

very very hot it is getting very hot

if something is below or beneath they can be used in the same way so something

can be below and something can be beneath we can also say underneath as

well so underneath below for under hello TS long time no see yes it's nice to see

TS here again watching in Indonesia hello mr. Duncan I'm watching from Xi'an

in China a big me how to you it is very hot here at the moment in England what

about you is it hot in China I think it might be I remember from my days in

China the summer was always very very hot especially where I was because I was

very near to the desert so the place I was staying at in China was very near to

a desert and it was very very hot

mr. Duncan tss has created a group on Facebook for

mr. Duncan's fans really I didn't know that I did I had no idea

hello mr. Duncan please talk about set I know what you're doing are you on mr.

Steeves side I think so yes every week mr. Steve tries to talk about

uses of the word set and I always stop him thought oh you mean my hat oh I see

yes this hat they call this hat a Sun Hat so this is actually a Sun Hat and

the reason why it's called a Sun Hat is because you wear it in the Sun and it

protects your face and your neck so yes this particular hat is called a Sun Hat

Sun Hat I actually bought this in Turkey when I was on holiday in Turkey so this

hat I actually bought in Turkey it is my first time on your livestream and I love

English I'm a graduate of Bachelor of Arts in literature and I hope to learn

more from you than what I learned in university thank you Chris for that you

are welcome everyone is welcome wherever you are in the world whatever you do in

your life it doesn't matter you are welcome to join me right here on

Wednesdays normally I'm here Wednesday night 10:00 p.m. UK time and also I am

here every Sunday 2:00 p.m. UK time and right now I am live on English and as

you can see it is 10 minutes to 3 o'clock

on a Tuesday afternoon a very hot day it's so hot here today very hot it is

scorching it is very very hot the heat is intense intense very strong I can

feel the heat very easily because it's very intense Wow

I watched one of your 2017 films where you wear a wig and you are

pretending to be donald trump's cousin duncan Trump yes I actually did that

that's actually a livestream that I did on the same day that President Trump

became president I hello from Dubai hello Ahmed Ahmed Mahmood hello to you a

big hello from a very hot England I I think maybe today it's it is hot here is

it is in Dubai I think so hello from Brazil says Rita please talk about set

see see what's happening everyone everyone wants to hear about the word

set I blame mr. Steve for that it's his fault it's boiling hot here in Korea I

think so well I imagine it's always hot in Korea I think so

my ex colleagues who are from different countries speak English fast one of my

friends said my English was bad really well some people can be very cruel

especially when they are criticizing you so don't worry about it you can learn

English at your own pace don't rush you're learning okay so

don't go too quickly and don't rush so don't listen to what people say because

sometimes they can be very very unfair so please don't worry I read an English

newspaper and I learned at least three words

thank you Anna SHhhh I am very curious to find out what those words are I want

to know what the words are I'm very interested to find out I think I will

move the camera do you mind if I move the camera I'm going to change the

camera slightly so I can move away from the sunlight so please wait a moment

I will be back in a moment don't go away

this is not very professional by the way please bear with me

you say this is not as easy as it looks

I don't think you can see me at all that's not very good is it not yeah

there we go I think you can see me now oh that's much better

oh yes I think that is much better do you know where I am

I'm now standing under the damson tree I am yes

I'm now standing under the damson tree and I hope you can see me I hope you can

hear me oh well that wasn't easy I thought that

was going to be easy but of course sometimes in life things aren't as easy

as they seem

ah that's better oh that's nice I'm in the shade now so I'm actually underneath

underneath the damson tree are there are there no American friends in this lesson

I don't know I don't know sometimes we have viewers watching in the United

States sometimes yes mr. Duncan it was a hat but not hot for a Spanish speakers

they sound similar yes there is a difference between hat hat hat hat

hut-hut hat Oh put put

apparently I only see a freezed mr. Duncan now there's no freezed mr. Duncan

it should be moving yes I think you might have a problem with YouTube I

think so yes I'm now standing underneath my damson tree the damson tree and if

you look very closely you can see there are some there are some damsons at the

moment actually on the tree can you see there is there is a damson there it is a

little damsel damsel so in a couple of months time there will be lots of lovely

juicy damsons on the tree this is not easy to do by

the way it's not very easy to stand under a tree and do a live stream at the

same time it's very difficult hello from Nepal Talas says hello from Nepal thank

you very much for joining me today it's mr. Duncan that's me live on

YouTube and it's just approaching 3 o'clock can you see just coming up to 3

o'clock here in the UK I learned from you and other YouTube teachers a lot

more than what I have been taught in my school thank you Hwang that's very kind

of you are there any caterpillars on the dams and tree now sometimes you get

caterpillars caterpillars on the dams and tree they can be quite a nuisance

damson

sorry I'm being very distracted here by something I don't know what that was

hello from Venezuela

Ozzie wrists hello Azeris how are you today what a surprise to see you here

today what a surprise do you know what I think

I think I might be having a delivery left at the house I think someone is

trying to deliver something at my house just a moment please excuse me just one

moment

well I was right someone was delivering a parcel to my house so that's why I

heard a sound a very distracting sound so yes the delivery driver was about to

leave this note to say that he had left a parcel so there you go oh that was

exciting just to prove that this is live and it is it's very live maybe it is a

surprise that mr. Steve ordered for you no I know exactly what it is I know

what's being delivered I think mr. Steve has actually bought

some new garden equipment for cutting the hedges so I think he's ordered a new

trimmer for trimming the hedges so I think that's what it is I think so I'm

not sure I haven't ordered anything no I think it's mr. Steve mr. Steve has been

ordering he's been clicking online buying things I think so you're great

mr. Duncan this is really like a live broadcast

I like your flip-flops thank you Inigo do you like my flip-flops and also today

I'm wearing my lovely colored socks as well I hope you like those - yes I'm

under the tree I'm standing and my dams and tree and there you can see there are

some dams ins on my dams and tree and there are lots of birds at the moment in

the garden they're awful laying down and feeding in the garden

and this morning can you guess what I had this morning I had a little baby

woodpecker a small woodpecker was feeding in my garden oh very nice I got

very excited when that happened very excited your house is so green yes the

garden at the moment looks very green because it is now mid summer so now we

are at the highest point of summer so everything now is all out all of the

leaves are out on the trees and everything is very lush I love that word

lush if something is lush it means it looks very green and alive lush what is

the name of the camera you are using how is your internet so easy to use when

you're outside the building what is the area behind you on your left shoulder

there are well there are a lot I think that's probably that the edge of the

house you can see there I think I think that's the house you can see the camera

I'm using is a Sony professional camera it's a high-definition camera so the

camera I'm using is actually a proper camera it isn't a webcam it is an actual

professional camera and the internet connection is very very fast and that's

the reason why I can do this there is a lot of technology involved it's very

very complicated the way in which this picture and this sound gets to you very

complicated indeed mr. Duncan why is the world different the world has worn shine

but not one level of temperature well it's all to do with

the Sun and the earth so sometimes the earth will tilt one way and sometimes

the earth will tilt the other way so sometimes in the North it will be very

hot and sometimes in the South it will be very hot and of course in the middle

it's always hunt so that basically that's the reason why professional

camera for professional lessons all thank you very much I'm so flattered

thank you that's very kind of you have you ever had meals outside in your

garden yes sometimes I like to have a hot meal or sometimes a sandwich or

maybe a nice cold drink or sometimes a cup of tea as well sometimes I like to

have a cup of tea in the garden so yes I have the leaves are moving back and

forth yes the leaves are moving they are moving because there is a gentle breeze

so it isn't windy it's breezy there is a gentle summer breeze making me feel very

very happy there are only two seasons in my place where I'm living there is Sun

and rain that's right Wang because where you live is tropical it's very very

humid and very hot have you changed your mobile phone mr. Duncan no I haven't I

still have my old phone so the phone you see now is the old phone that I've had

for many years so this particular phone is a Samsung Galaxy s5 and it's very old

so now so now this phone is not even available you can't even buy

phone anymore that's how old it is so this phone is now obsolete the phone is

obsolete that means it is no longer available it is no longer made it is

obsolete this phone is very old so I am thinking of getting a new one but I'm

not sure at the moment I really haven't decided do you like to swim

Pal Mira asks do I like to swim

Dems entry' yes am reward e damson tree I am standing under my lovely damsel

tree on a sunny day when writing a letter what is the proper start when

making a formal request it really depends on what you are asking for so

you might ask would it be possible or could I please so it really depends on

what you are asking for so maybe you are asking for someone's address you might

say dear sir dear madam I am writing to you

concerning someone's phone number I am wondering whether it would be possible

for you to give the number to me or to pass the number on to me but it really

does depend on what you're asking for

what sort of technology have you done for your live stream please tell me the

name of your camera well the camera is only a small part of everything that I

use so the camera is only part of it there are many other things that I use

there are lots of of cables there is a big mixer for

mixing the sound there is also something called an encoder which will change the

picture into a signal that can be read by a computer so there are many things

involved the one thing you really do need is fast internet you need a very

good internet connection so your internet connection must be very fast

I'm quite lucky here because my internet connection is very fast I have about 40

maybe 42 megabytes to send so that is very very high so my internet speed here

is fast which allows me to to send out my live streams in high quality how do

you feel about England's success in the World Cup so far well I don't really

follow football I don't follow it to be honest I'm not a I'm not a fan of

football I don't hate it I just don't follow it yes if something

is out of date it means it is obsolete it is no longer made it is no longer

manufactured so something that is out of date it is old it is no longer made for

example my phone this particular phone is very old it is now obsolete maybe

it's time for me to buy a new one mm-hmm maybe are the balls near your house I

think the cows and the bulls are actually asleep in the shade around the

corner so they're not here today they were actually did you see them at the

start today did you see them sleeping on the ground

so they were around the corner but I think they've gone now I think they've

gone into the shade because it's very very hot it's sunny where you are yes it

is where I live I'm experiencing a typhoon right now we get about 10

typhoons every month that's incredible I'm sorry to hear that

Chris Chris Morales I'm very sorry to hear that that's incredible

10 can you imagine having 10 typhoons every month that's incredible

me care hello Mika nice to see you watching in Japan at the moment I have

some tomatoes that are slowly turning red they are becoming red so they are

becoming ripe ripe literally Livvy Livvy Livvy asks can you speak a little faster

well the problem is if I speak too quickly then some people won't be able

to understand what I'm saying and also the automatic subtitles will

not understand what I'm saying either mr. Duncan I've just started to watch

you and I've just a little knowledge about you and mr. Steve so I wonder if

there is any relationship between you and mr. Steve I'm asking because you're

looking very similar to each other can I can I just say that the mr. Steve and

myself we are not related we are we are definitely not related okay definitely

not

mr. Denker me and some of my friends don't use plastic products anymore to

protect the environment that's very good yes a lot of people now are are deciding

to to boycott or to not use plastic products such as plastic bottles and

plastic bags so yes mr. Duncan oh that's from Reza Thank You Reza so yes a lot of

people now now apparently here in the UK we are going to ban what is it I can't

remember we are going to ban straws so the thing that you drink through the

thing that you drink through plastic straws and also do you know the things

that you clean your ears with they are called cotton but cotton but and they

are used for cleaning your ears and sometimes maybe cleaning up your nose

you have to be careful though if you push something up your nose you have to

be very careful because you might lose it inside your head so yes we are

planning in this country to ban certain plastic items such as straws drinking

through and also plastic bags as well so yes apparently it's happening that's

right success builder says cotton buds be u-d but cotton buds missed mr. Duncan

Donald Trump said that NATO is obsolete and then I learned this interesting word

yes it is a very interesting word some people say that I'm obsolete on YouTube

hmm what do you think do you think I'm obsolete do you think I'm out of date

the Paris climate agreement yes that is the agreement that Donald Trump decided

to withdraw from it was earlier this year wasn't it earlier this year yes you

are right what time is it oh my goodness it is quarter past three I've been here

now for one hour and 15 minutes can you believe it

I think I will go soon because I've been here for a very long time and to be

honest it's very hot it really is hot it's a boiling hot day here in the UK

mr. Duncan why mr. Steve doesn't make or grow

vegetables why doesn't mr. Steve grow vegetables I think one of the reasons is

because it takes a lot of time and sometimes we don't have time to do it so

that's the reason why some people might say it's laziness some people might say

mr. Duncan it's because you are lazy

maybe the green leaves and grass are refreshing to the eyes and very relaxing

thank you very much for that yes it's lovely out here at the moment but can I

just say it's very hot it is absolutely boiling hot it is

scorching hot it is sweltering very hot

you are an expert in this job Thank You Bethel the live broadcasts are really

good yes this is a very hard thing to do now even if I was in the studio doing

this it would be difficult it would be very difficult to do and Here I am now

outside doing it live and can I just say it's even more difficult because there

are so many things going on around me

the word Dyer is used in English grammar yes we can

use the word Dyer so if something is dire it means it is awful

it is terrible it is dreadful it is dire dire it's a great word mr.

Duncan you are definitely in trend thank you very much for that I do appreciate

it apparently I am in trend that means I'm trendy on the Internet

thank you very much for that you are the you are definitely the opposite of lazy

you are the opposite of lazy thank you very much Anish asks a very interesting

question Anish asks mr. Duncan how do I

understand the lyrics of a song now here's a good idea and this is something

that you can do nowadays because the Internet is amazing it really really is

it's incredible the Internet have you heard of it have you heard of

the Internet it's amazing apparently sometimes on the Internet you can watch

people standing in their garden talking to themselves it's true

you can actually go on the internet and you can type in the title of the song

and then you can read the words you can look at the lyrics of the song so that

is a good tip so I hope that that helps so if you know the sound sorry if you

know the the name of the song not the sound but the name if you know the title

of the song type it and search for it on the Internet

apparently yesterday in Saransk it was 35 degrees that is very hot 35 degrees

can you believe it fat or Fahad Fahad says you are a really funny guy

you mean me thank you very much for that my mother also says the same thing my

mother says that I'm very very funny

apparently I am an update teacher of English thank you very much for that

that's very kind I love your voice and also the lovely weather as well thank

you Jung Kim thank you very much

Talas says we have six seasons and at this very moment the sweltering summer

is almost over with the start of the tropical monsoon yes of course in some

countries monsoon season the monsoon season can be very very damaging very

destructive you remind me of my English professor in university mrs. fresney doe

she loved to explain the English words in class thank you Chris for that

I hope my explanations are helpful I hope they are there are actually two

planes two aeroplanes going over my head at the moment I am going in a moment it

is 20 minutes past three o'clock if anyone else would like to join in you

are more than welcome but I am going in a moment okay

this is mr. Duncan live in the garden by the way on a Tuesday afternoon as I said

it's just after 20 minutes past three o'clock there you can see see the time

can you hear the plane coming over my house thanks for your lovely messages

today and of course I will be back tomorrow night late and live at 10 p.m.

UK time I will be here and also mr. Steve will be joining me as well on the

livestream tomorrow tomorrow night yes because normally I'm

not here on Tuesday so today is a very special livestream I didn't even plan

anything so I've actually turned on the camera and then I've just started

without any preparation whatsoever is that the sound of a UFO I hope not I can

hear the birds are singing do we fam yes I am surrounded by birds at the moment

they are all around me some of them are resting some of them are feeding and

some of them are giving food to their babies it is a very busy time of year

for nature especially around here lots of things going on at the moment have a

cool relaxed mr. Duncan I will have some lovely

relaxation after I finish this livestream yes I

would like to drink something cold maybe some cold water yes I have some water

here actually in fact I'm feeling very thirsty at the moment excuse me just

before I go I want to have a drink of water

do you mind do you mind I hope so I have a very big bottle of water to quench my

thirst oh that's nice refreshing lovely

I'm not sure if I feel better or not after that thank you very much mr.

Duncan I'm glad to see you every time what are the birds in the garden

are they Robins there are many different types of bird in the garden at the

moment there are blackbirds there are baby blackbirds being fed like this by

their parents there are great tits there are blue tits and there are coal

tits there are many different types of bird including this morning I had a baby

woodpecker in the garden a baby woodpecker are you in the country

yes I am living in the countryside my house is in the countryside that is true

those poor football players they had to play football in 35-degree temperature

can you believe that I I don't think I could stand that I think I would

collapse on the floor mr. Duncan is there any waterfall nearby not here so

know that there aren't any waterfalls near here but about about three or four

miles away there is a very big river called the river seven the river seven

very close about three or four miles over there just that way

a big river mr. mr. Duncan you reside or you live in a very beautiful area so we

can say that if you reside somewhere you live somewhere so you live in a very

beautiful place the place in which you live is very beautiful

we can learn many things from nature Rohit

yes you are right I love nature very much I I can spend many many hours

watching nature I think it's very very fascinating so I am going now it is

coming up to half-past three can you see the time it has gone by very

quickly I can't believe I've been here for nearly one and a half hours I've

been here for 90 minutes I hope you enjoy the sunny weather

I will success builder says playing cricket tennis and polo are all on the

grass is it typically English well playing cricket is very very English in

many villages they will play cricket so yes especially cricket we can learn

many things from nature I think I've read that one already and Palmira says

Engel turn Engel turn waterfall park is not far from where you live really I'm

not sure where that is I've never heard of that you are really nice mr. Duncan

thank you Hume Arya thank you very much for that

yes I love looking at the stars at night sometimes when the sky is clear and the

moon is not out I like to lie on the grass and watch the stars and sometimes

at night you can see the Milky Way going across the sky you can see millions and

millions of stars in the sky it's incredible so yes I I do like watching

the sky at night thank you mr. Duncan for today's lesson you are welcome

nature is good only when it is cultured oh okay thank you

sérgio for that have you ever played cricket mr. Duncan not since I was at

school and to be honest I wasn't very good that's it I'm going it's now coming

up to Harper's 3 this is mr. Duncan saying I hope you've enjoyed this

something very unusual now this is something I had not planned today so

this is something I hadn't planned but here I am anyway so I hope you've

enjoyed the past 90 minutes of live English I am back tomorrow at 10 p.m. UK

time also mr. Steve will be here as well so I hope you've enjoyed all of this bye

- Louie bye - Sergio bye - Fernando Oh Fernando Fernando is a little bit late I

think so don't worry I will be back tomorrow anyway I'm back tomorrow live

10 p.m. UK time right here on YouTube with my late and live English

this is mr. Duncan in the birthplace of English saying thank you very much for

watching me wherever you are in the world have a super-duper day and I will

see you hopefully tomorrow 10 p.m. UK time and of course you know what's

coming next yes you do...

Eating Snacks While Wearing Face Masks - Duration: 2:08.

- Today I'm going to try to eat food

while wearing a face mask.

Why?

I have no idea.

- The real challenge is gonna be that

I'm not allowed to break any of this food,

I have to take a full bite.

- This is gonna be my new tinder photo.

- Ooh! Good thing I came hungry.

- Oh!

- Oh okay.

- Oh god.

- Level two, bring it on, baby. Let's keep it going.

- I feel like this will be easier than the popcorn

'cause you kinda just stick it back there.

- (laughing)

Oh boy.

- Uh oh, yeah

- (laughing) What is happening?

- I'm not thrilled about this one.

- (slurping)

- I'm just getting it everywhere

- (slurping)

- (coughing)

- This is gonna be hard.

I feel like I need to prep the area.

- I can't even get it in!

- Sexy!

- No!

- I would like to stop doing this.

- This might be a personal low.

006 - Marriage and Family - The Role of the Husband - Dr. Steve Sullivan - Part 2 - Duration: 47:33.

and we began the role of the husband and we saw that the husband should regard

his family as a blessing he should gain joy from his family I think men often

look many places to find joy and happiness but we're forced to find it in

our homes no that's not the only place but it should be the major place that we

find the joy we look to get a second of all to the husband or father who fears

God and if he fears God and we talk about what that means

then he'll have great benefit part of that benefit is that he'll have children

and a wife and who desire to fear God too and so the nature of the home and

how God has set it up is that the man is the head of the home and he has sets a

great deal of a tenor so does the woman but the man is the one who should be

leading in as he leads and he's a man who fears God which is an attitude that

enters forth into action then there'll be a difference in his home and we saw

then if we fear God we should obey Him and of course fearing God and obeying

God go together and then we looked at the fourth principle and not as demands

or the husband's responsibility in lovingly leading his family in the same

way as Christ leads the church and last time we looked at Ephesians chapter 5

and I'd like to go over that again briefly and then enter into the section

where we left off last time so let's look at Ephesians chapter 5 and notice

in Ephesians chapter 5 verse 18 that we have a very important principle that he

begins with as I said last time if if you haven't realized it or not you're

not able to do your role

because what God demands is beyond our ability and that's what he begins with

Ephesians chapter 5 verse 18 says be filled with the spirit as we're

controlled by the Spirit of God were able to obey what God tells us to do and

so I find as I said before that my counseling on spiritual life or I mean

on the Christian home or counseling with husband and wife ultimately comes to

your spiritual life because I'm gonna be asking you to do things that's beyond

your ability to beyond anybody's ability but it's not beyond that which God has

supplied in the power of the Holy Spirit and so he begins with the Fijians 5:18

because he wants to realize wants us to realize that we mean to be need to be

controlled by the spirit then he talks about husband and wife row and then

parent children and then slave and master situation and in spiritual

warfare and he said in Ephesians chapter 5 beginning with verse 21 that we are to

submit one to another and this helps us to realize the abuse that should not be

there here we are we usually hear that the man is to be the head and woman is

dismissed and that is the main roles but we are have a mutual submission we have

different roles but that mutual submission keeps it from a superior

inferior or bi sergeant and the Corporal here you know get in line

so God understood that and so I believe he's telling us to be subject to one

another in the fear of Christ and then he begins and we saw last time a few

little principles here if you notice that verse 23 the husband is the head of

the wife but notice how as Christ is the head of church he himself being the

savior of the body and so we see here all the constant comparison is Jesus

Christ Jesus Christ Jesus Christ and that way we do not have abuse in a

relationship or at least gently now Willie in verse 25 we begin

and it says husband's you are to love your wives just as Christ loved the

church and gave himself up for her now what kind of love is that what you say

to me well it's agape love well yes but what is a gappi love what

would be a characteristic what one word could you put there to say that it is a

gobby love unconditional love excellent now you know we think about that

unconditional love is that I'm to love that irregardless of what the worthiness

or unworthiness of the object that I am loving okay and that takes a love that's

beyond us isn't it I mean someone loves you have a tendency love them back

course scripture says if you love someone who loves you like you no

different than the pagans you know I do that question is if we love someone

who's not worthy of our love who is going against us who who hurts us now

there's a different understanding I mean there's there's some people think love

is something that you do nothing in and it can be a doormat and be run over but

there's actions of disciplining your children spanking them and it's love so

we need to understand what love is but we are to do it unconditional another

word could be sacrifice if you think about the godly love you think about our

Lord and what did he do he sacrificed for us that's why I use the term for

gappi love a self-sacrificing service that meets then to another and so you

have 3 s's there and sometimes we can remember those those aspects now the

last time we looked about leadership and I don't want to repeat that because I

don't have time but if we need to look at what it means to be sacrificial love

and I think all of us would would agree that the love chapter of first

Corinthians 13 is where we need to turn so you turn over there now I know that

this nothing new to you but I don't know

about you is that every time I read it I get convicted because this is not a

definition of agape love this is a description of it which sometimes is

more helpful than a definition because it's giving you specifics and he tells

you in verse 4 that love is patient love is kind

it's not jealous love does not brag and is not Erica and the word love has has

nothing to do with being jealous of someone love has nothing to do with

bragging or being arrogant that's not a loving thing it does not act

unbecomingly that's a nice word of saying you don't you're not rude does

not seek its own I think everybody falls out there you know I know I do doesn't

seek my own things don't seek my own love does not seek

selfishness love does not I see is not provoked we want to provoke love love is

given unconditional love us is constantly giving you want to you want

to provoke it I mean you know the tit-for-tat and relationships you know

well they did this well I'm gonna do this because they did that and you know

you go back and forth and just go i Ricky and I were involved in our dating

relationship I told her right straight up I'm not interested in that

you know this tit-for-tat we do this I want to do that because you hurt me

let's just go right straight through and say you hurt me I don't like that and

we're gonna have to play the games I call it playing the games I wasn't

interested in any games but we but there is a tendency to play that game does not

take into account a wrong suffered it's not selfish doesn't taking a cow wrong

suffered I mean can you you ever been in argue with your mate and all of a sudden

you say well when a man you get a big ol long list

there you know well I don't think that's love you know there may be a sense of

saying I can remember I don't remember exactly when because you're not trying

to keep count okay but it doesn't taking the wrong suffer it doesn't hold up it

doesn't take revenge you didn't say well you know you owe me it's not sacrificial

if it's that way does not rejoice in unrighteousness but rejoices with the

truth it bears all things another that word there really means to cover all

things you know love covers a multitude of sin it believes all things doesn't

mean that you're gullible that you believe everything but you but you want

to believe what your mate says I mean you that's that's the on the surface is

that what they say I take it honestly faithfully okay and it endures all

things it does doesn't it I think the love of a mother toward a

child often is that way isn't it just endures all kinds of things don't you

mom and dad well that's the kind of love description that I'm talking about here

and is that kind of love I think why I turn to first Corinthians 13 quite a bit

to convict me the am I as a husband lovingly leading my family in a way it

should be it is a sacrificial thing isn't it

men that means you need to be a student of your wife you go what do you mean

well you need to know where you say well I don't I mean one of the classic things

that men say is and we're going to get to is you know

standard you know can't understand a problem with you ladies is you

understand us that's the problem right you understand this - well we're too

predictable well that's one of our jobs men that's what we need to be a student

my wife I used to be irritated at my wife some of her uh what she always say

just her characteristic so what she likes

okay yeah and now I just get so tickle I get thick a letter so much for example

last night you know I was looking through one of my computer magazines and

all of a sudden there was this picture there an old-timey picture had a young

boy with a little bowtie on you know looked like a Norman Rockwell kind of

thing you know and you can see the teacher was a little

bit large you know and a little globe over here and all the students were just

desktop old-timey you know and this and on blackboard it has you know frogs eat

flies you know and a set and the other they were studying a certain kind of and

here's just bowtie little boys he was about six years old you know and his

glasses and wriggles smile he had this big huge frog up there and he was

showing it and I knew I would love that why because I had become the student of

what she liked she likes old-timey stuff she likes the old half alive and that

kind of picture and this that and the other and so Susie saw go look at this

you know why I'm becoming a student in my wife I'm not perfect by no means but

do you know what she likes and what she wants and what she has and what she

would like to do become a student of your wife verse 26 says this that he

might sanctify her having cleansed her by the washing of the water with the

word now you have to realize that in this illustration you have two

illustrations you have Christ and the church as it's trying to tell us what

Christ does to his church and on the other hand you have an analogy of the

Christ and the church being husband as an analogy of Christ and the body being

but now it's obvious that we cannot purify

our lives man but what would be the analogy god Christ was the head of the

church it's purifying me through the through

the scriptures by the washing of the water is that dealing with the

scriptures the analogy that comes over to us is that we are responsible in the

area in the area of her spiritual life and in verse 26 from 27 he has two

points here huh excuse me yes what did I say seasons 5 excuse me when I'm we're

back in the Fijians 5 verses 25 26 and 27 ok and that sanctifying her setting

her apart by the word and then it goes on by cleansing her by the word we have

a responsibility for her purity now she does too but what I'm saying is that we

don't want to take care where places were it would not be pure we don't want

to direct her to places that were not here we don't want to watch things put

it in her sight things that would not make her pure we want to encourage her

in the purity of her walk and we'll be accountable for that now she will - but

what did you do - in to help and whatever was in her purity that would be

the analogy for us verse 27 would deal but this talks about presenting her to

the Lord it says that he might present to himself a church in all her glory

having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing that she should be holy and

blameless again dealing with the purity we can't do that man God's going to do

that to us what is the analogy now it seems to me

that he dealing again with purity but also involved in her growth that she may

what the church maybe spot without spot wrinkle therefore there is a maturity

coming isn't it the church will one day will be completely mature and set apart

unto God and when he comes a second time right well we have responsibility with

her purity and her spiritual growth okay she does - but what did you do to

encourage her in a spiritual walk did you come home and take care of the kids

for 30 minutes to an hour so she could go in the back room so that she could

have her time of teaching and in the world because oftentimes when you get

small kids there in time I mean you should get I like to have spend time in

the word but you know mom's being 24 hours a day maybe you have to come off

on the side and have that done so that she can spend time did you encourage you

to read the scriptures did you encourage her to go to the ladies Bible study did

you encourage her to be involved in certain things in the church in the

things of God I think God's gonna as we stand before the Bema seat of Christ

he's gonna ask us these things we're gonna be accountable for those kinds of

things because that's our responsibility is headed huh now if you did those

things and she didn't do them then that's her problem

I mean you can't make if he can't crack the whip we're not in the concentration

camp but we are responsible men to encourage that in her life those areas

that you know men your wives have struggled with their sinful areas they

were setting sins we got them to do you encourage you in that area or do you

smash them with the turn the knife in or do you encourage them in that way being

involved and come alongside them and encouraging them that way in the

scriptures that's what I believe he's talking about we in our sacrificial

loving leadership were involved in the purity and their spiritual growth verse

28 speaks about love again it says so husband also to love their own wives as

their own bodies he loves his own wife loves himself now what do you do man do

you take care of your body don't you you clean it you wash it hopefully you extra

if you want to take care of that thing well that's the same thing that we ought

to be doing with our wives are we taking care of them what are we doing to take

care of them we could go into all kinds of things but we are to be taking care

of her and we are to be building up her as a person are you

those areas that they struggle with are you building them up those areas that

they have problems in what are you doing that's leadership I need to take action

here how me I encourage my wife the areas that she struggles with that's

like loving myself that's what the scripture says if I love my wife I'm

like loving myself what would to becoming one verse 29 tells a little

further what do you what do you mean that we should take care of them it says

for no one ever hated own flesh nourishes and cherishes it just as

Christ also does the church and this nourishing means that he provides men we

are to provide for the home sure we're supposed to be bringing home the bacon

as they all say or bringing home the check so that you can take care of the

family physically but but I don't believe he's just talking about just

providing physically I think the whole concept emotionally I mean some guys

come home and they had nothing to the family you know I slept amaro know I'm

to be involved in it in the home I'm supposed to be involved with the kids

I'm supposed to be involved in spiritual things

mom's not always supposed to give the devotion times for the kids I should be

giving those things

okay and then it says nourishing not only nourishing but cherishing and I

think not getting the whole love but not only cherishing loving and protecting

that's why why's that the guys are always saying please lock Darwin alley

right or be careful going here I know you can't go to the grocery store after

dark you know I had the hardest time with Vicki on that coming to Houston to

me you know it came a little old Kerrville you know it took me three

years I think for her to consistently lock the doors how was that how was

scheming to see if I could get somebody to come over and just scare the living

daylights out of her what time afraid you'd have a heart attack so she would

go out here we are living in Houston and she'd go out at night and to put up the

car it's on the street you know 10:30 at night you know I usually do but she did

once a while she just getting in the car open door you know I mean it wasn't

locked just opened door turn on the key you know back it up and push put it in

there big old van you know somebody could be in the van so one time I she

got out of the car and I won't listen did you see that man in the car the last

time she did it though she now looks if she ever has do it okay

I've called her numerous time walking in the parking lot she didn't have any idea

what who was around it I mean she I don't know what the God just in Brit I

don't know how he did to me but no one taught it to me I just whether I was in

Kerrville or podunk high or high Houston when I walk out someplace I'm aware of

who's around me and I can talk and do it I know who's backing out and who's in

what car because I'm looking for I'm aware and that's what I'm trying to do

with the kids as well as well that's why we want to protect you ladies that's why

we don't want you walking at night that's why my wife's continue these

tries to fudge a little bit it's not dark yet

I got a walk that's the oume dark because we love as part of our

responsibility and there's more than just protecting physically and that's

why I spent two sessions on protecting your home spiritually if you don't know

what's going on today you're in trouble because your home will be attacked in

ways you'll never know and you'll wonder why my kids get off why are we off

because we're not aware of the times we live in I don't mean that we live in

such a bad times we can't witness that oh it's a great time of witness great

time to be a Christian but if you're not aware it's going to be a rotten time

because of what's out there today so first thirty and thirty one because

we are members of his body for this cause a man shall leave his father and

mother and shall cleave to his wife and the two should become one and I believe

this deals with a becoming a family unit leaving so that we may cleave together

what that it may be a permanent relationship so I think it's dealing

with becoming a family unit that is permanent marriage should be permanent

that's what we should be shooting for that's the idea yeah I know there's

exception just that in the other but I'm afraid that too many times we have

centered on the exception instead of the what God says that we are to do I mean

God says don't sin if you do then this that in the other but we don't want to

say well what about this dismiss that's the goal I want to say that's what I

want that's what I'm saying permanency and then finally in verse 33

and 30 32 and 33 this mystery is great but I'm speaking with reference to

Christ and the church nevertheless let each individual among you also love his

own life even as himself and let the wife see to it that she respects her

husband so the husband needs to realize that his home is a witness to the world

if you said not one word to your neighbor about Jesus which I hope you do

the way you conduct your relationship with your wife and children will have a

tremendous influence when I was in seminary I didn't have a whole lot of

time working and going to school and having kids and we wanted to make sure

we did not neglect our neighbors and so we tried to witness to our neighbors

across the street at least get to know them we thought we had failed miserably

you know we had them over to eat one time and try to get on spiritual things

and man they threw that away like a hot potato so you know we just dropped it

and we tried to do a few little things here and there and I tried to we just

thought well you know I remember Vicki said she's rockin Samuel one day and

just tears came her eyes and she wasn't able to witness to cross the street and

yet as the Lord had it the next year both of them came to faith you know we

had a hand in it and as they begin to tell us it says we sure appreciate your

witness for Christ I said what do we do you know it was just so just the way you

treated each other I mean we weren't perfect but we just cared for each other

and the things that we did together and what we did and it's not any other it

becomes a week a witness and that's what exactly Christ and His Church is

displayed in the church as well as the family and being a godly family taking

stands and being what you know what's right and active how you treat one

another has a tremendous difference and it's becoming more and more in our

society so I encourage you you are a witness for Christ any question is only

Ephesians 5 we'll get back to the summary in just a minute but let's turn

over now to Colossians chapter 3

here we see one little word one of the verse here Paul expands everything in

Ephesians 5 but in Colossians 3 only has one verse for the man one verse for the

woman one verse for the child or two verses I guess it says husband's love

your wives and do not be in bittered against them

I meet a lot of men in my counseling over the years and that is a problem

with you guys and me candy I can see it wife does something you get so angry and

you're so mad he says man that's it and you just didn't better you know you just

want in pitted against them and being the head of the home you can really make

it miserable for the whole family and God says you not to be embittered

against your wife if you're embittered with your wife at this moment it's

unbiblical you needed to go to the Lord you say but she's so deserving it well I

don't care I mean how much do you deserve and what you have done again

it's the unconditional aspect yeah but she's doing this you know God

doesn't when you stand before him he's I mean can you imagine him saying well

lord I was invented in them because she was deserving though she did this to me

and this to me in this minute she deserved it now how far is that gonna

get before the law it may be true but you see it doesn't hold water with the

Lord I mean I could sympathize with people but then I have to bring them

back to the text and say hey making difference why do I did what are you to

do are you not the leader of the home are you not one to be moving out

do not be embittered in there don't make her in bitter the way you act against

her so we need to check our hearts guys about it involved about being in

bittered against our lives so that's a just a little bitty two verse there but

it's a very important text now turn over the first Peter chapter 3

or seven first Peter 3:7

says you husband's likewise live with your wife in an understanding way now

you remember me saying earlier in our message this morning one of the things

that my guys like to say is we're not women you know I can't understand them

can't live with them can't live without them you know you have those kind of

statements and I stopped men like that might say wait a minute

that's exactly what you're supposed to do you're supposed to live with your

wife and understand I don't understand I mean what does she do this it doesn't

make sense and what you need I have you have stopped sick but I have to try to

understand her ladies don't you want to be understood I mean doesn't mean that

she has to do what you say but then it comforting to know that you know your

husband is trying to understand you the following is your logic you see what we

try to do Minh is that we tried to squeeze our wives into how men think he

said you don't make sense you need to be thinking this way why that's how a lot

that's how I think now if there's a fallacy in how she's thinking point out

the fallacy according to scripture but don't tell her you think I mean she's a

woman don't probably you know I'm a man I don't want to try to make her think

like I'm thinking unless her thinking is not according to scripture then you want

to say don't have to think like I do think what the Scriptures think you know

that's that's Leaney now but just because she you know it's like when my

wife likes to go the football games only because she enjoys people you know my

wife she loves people and so when she goes do you know that person down there

I'm going the game okay though we just you know I'm there oh don't you want to

go and talk to so-and-so I said I'm here to watch the football game you know if I

gone there and sit down by Jim Higgins and watched football game we're not

gonna be talking to hold off except what's happening on the field because

you know don't follow me about that we know I'm interested in the game you know

my wife you know did you see that I'm down there

it pretty then-ceo what happened there you know if there's anything interesting

happened and he used to flush three to death then now like I said well I just

thought that's why she is a now I'm tickle it I just get so tickle and how

did laughing last thing here you just having fun aren't you why I've come to

try to understand how she thinks how she did she'll now sit down and watch the

game with me she has no idea what's going on but she

just wants to be with me you know she can only stand by the quarter but but

then should get up and do something else but we've learned to understand each

other that could be a great sense of struggle in our home but men we are to

try to understand her not we are to get involved in understanding our wives

Peter says it likewise live with your wife in an understanding way why you can

become a dictator and not even knowing you can become a militant person because

I do it the way I did do way I want to and have no sensitivity of what your

wife's thinking is and how she does and how she wants to do it I mean that's not

right I'm not saying she's always right in the way she did but we need to be

sensitive to what she says notice it says what Peter said your you husband

likewise live with you're wise and understanding way as the weaker vessel

since she's a woman now the feminists and the family Nazis would just go crazy

with this one okay but what's wrong was saying because she's a woman

it's not an inferior situation because she's a woman because she's feminine and

not masculine that's what he's saying you guys trying to say because she's a

woman it's because she's different she's a woman

for example now this is not always true what you mean by she's different

I'm still learning on this lady so don't don't think I haven't learned but what

do you mean by the weaker vessel well let's just look at the differences and

then we maybe look at something - weakness with it has nothing to do with

spirituality has nothing to do with inheritance before the Lord has nothing

to do with the promises your equal in all the spiritual aspects okay it's more

the physical what we're looking at what we're talking about the weaker vessel

but look at some of the differences that we may have what does a woman look at I

want to tell you I'm a classic male that that you could point to if if my home I

mean you look at my home and you come inside of it and I want to tell you

right up front every bit of it that's beautiful is my

wife you know not me the flowers out front I'm beginning appreciate those

little bitty flowers look so pretty and all the you know this sad the others but

if you would have thought he was seeing my room and tally they didn't have a

picture on the wall I mean I didn't wanna mess with it I had time to study

that does has it they involved with the aesthetics and things are not so much

the purpose sometimes but they're more how it looks

I'm looking at what is the function of it you know the purpose of it does it

fit you know they're looking for well it doesn't look nice yeah but it works you

know so you know that kind of thing ladies

are more relational and family only on it in children on it where husbands are

more job orient influenced so in a business oriented sports on and hobby is

the only other all right I mean if to be honest I can walk in a

room a group of people and because I didn't know him I could be just as

comfortable just hi are you doing you know my wife just go patrols you you

let's go meet Sean so you know I'm going okay well I don't leave this go you know

she's just relational

ladies are more emotional insensitive men are more factual and tough macho

what do you wanna call it sensitive there's a difference isn't it I mean

what we have that tends to do is try to mold our wives into being men and you

really don't want that but that just because we're men that's how we think

it's how we move and that's how we breathe and that's what we are we need

to be sensitive to that when it talks about weaker vessels I think he's

dealing with the physical I mean you know I mean we do have more muscles as a

general okay we we can't stand more physical labor

you know sometimes not mental thinking that lasted there's a whole normal

difference you know the hormonal cycle of the month and menopause and the whole

thing there's a difference there in makeup that's what God made we could go

on to other things but anyway God says that we are to live with them in an

understanding way they're different than we are thank god they're different you

know but there is a difference she's a woman but notice that she came back to

make sure there's nothing taken out of this as inferior and grander honor as a

fellow heir of the grace of life so that your prayers may not be hindered man

came into me they want to be counseled this is my scription life really off the

wall you know just seems like just dull something's happening so I see asking

about studying the word prayer today I'm doing all that and says well how's your

relationship with the wife doesn't even do it anyway well you mean it didn't any

of you Peter says if we're not living with our wife and an understanding way

don't think your prayers are going to be answered it's going to be a hindrance in

your spiritual life men there's just there's a tendency with us because we

have to work with it at work I think we have to deal with people and work with

men at work that we don't like who don't like us or you know they're they just

somehow there's just they're not nice people or whatever are they trying to

stab you in the back or whatever you got with them and so you just learned how to

handle that then you just have to heal it right guys what happens you bring

that home and there's a there's a spat at home and everything and you just go

on like nothing happened and you learn how to handle it just what it is and why

it's gone crazy and I won't tell you spiritually it doesn't work you can't do

that home with your wife you can't have a spat and everything just say what else

with it because it's going to affect your

relationship with the Lord your prayers are gonna hit the season God's going to

say get it right first and so it has everything to do with your spiritual

life do you not think we because you're doing fine at work and people don't see

you at home I mean at work how you do at home and your home's not right and

you're not in correct relationship with your wife that everything's going to be

okay in your spiritual life it will not be okay you disperse a lot you may fake

it with people that work fake it people at church but ultimately there'll be a

blowout that's really not a blowouts a slow leak okay so we men need to take

heed to that now let's summarize what we learnt about the husband's role

I put it in your notes there he used to be the leader he used to be the head

it's a loving leadership it's a servant type of leadership it's not a

dictatorial leadership it's not a a di sergeant type of leadership or military

leadership he used to be a lover he's be spawn before pure responsible for the

purity and growth of his wife he takes care of her provides and protects her it

should be a permanent relationship and a permanent witness for Christ

don't be embedded against her you are to live with her in an understanding way

that would be the role of the husband toward the mate I know I had to go

through that quite quickly but we've had two times on it and hope men it's so

easy at this point to say forget it I mean I can't do that instead of saying

Lord I can see that I've grown or that I need to improve it the worst thing could

happen today is that you you're what I say today and just forget

it so you know I know that and you don't take it before the Lord and be a better

husband that's what I'll be praying praying my own life for so now the thiis

and six verse four would come to the parent children parent child situation

so let's get back there in Ephesians and 6 verse 4 it says and father's do not

provoke your children to anger but bring them up in the discipline and

instruction of the Lord now I always wonder so what did he say fathers What

did he say parents well he said father's because who's the head of the home the

man is daddy is okay does that mean dad's the only one the disciplines only

ones instruction absolutely not but who's the final responsibility that's

going to be before the Lord you are men God's gonna count call you into

accountability what mothers may do a lot more teaching hour by hour with the

children but you are responsible for him so I think that's why he says father so

mothers too are responsible under the headship of the husband don't provoke

your children to anger now how do you do that I'm gonna tell you how you can poke

your children anger so you won't do it okay and this is not all of them I just

put it I'll quickly wrote these 10 points first discipline the children

when they don't know the rules man you won't send it a child ballistic on

that number two when the punishment is disproportionate to the act committed

the punishment is not fair in other words number three you discipline out of

anger will provoke your children

disciplining your child for things which you consistently do yourself don't do

that with them you always do it well don't you know don't do it well they get

embittered at that they get angry because well why are you telling me to

do it when you don't do it

discipline inconsistently or not at all what will provoke your children anger

because what happens they get so bad then you come down so heavy on them they

don't you know you they just become just angry at that six push your children to

excel without the same amount of effort of encouragement or shall we say pushing

them consistently beyond their ability or are you gonna have constant criticism

they're never good enough constant criticism I mean you're gonna criticize

your children a lot but do you have the same amount of encouragement on the side

of criticism are you pushing them beyond their ability I mean I want to push my

child to his ability but not beyond

number seven trying to live your life through your child I didn't get this I

mean ladies one of the number one thing you'll need a watch is when your child

if you know a daughter is to when they get married that you begin to think

about all the things you want in that matter and that wedding because you

didn't get it or you had it and they wanted and it'll have all kinds of

problems that's just one characteristic I want them to go to the ballet because

I think it goes ballet I want to do this because I didn't it and then they begin

to push them into things that you want them to do because you didn't do it or

you always wanted to do it and you didn't do it and then you know I want to

be the best baseball player and you've been push your kids into sports and this

that and the other and you begin to push and push and push and you start trying

to live your life through your child you can provoke them to anger absent father

or mother well if we're constantly saying you don't have enough time don't

have enough time don't have enough time

lack of participation in in in in their interest in their sports pleasure and

life I don't have time to do that I'm not interested in what they're

interested in I don't want to go there game I don't talk about what they want

to talk about I'm not interested in that will provoke your child anger and then

tent and of course not last manipulation manipulating your child to do what you

want them to do by all kinds of anger emotion pride or whatever

flattery there's all kinds of way of doing it but getting what you want

they will only figure that out and will provoke some thing sure disciplining

your child when he does not know the rules when the punishment is

disproportionate to the acts committed the punishment is not fair in other

words discipline out of anger discipline your child for things which you

consistently do yourself discipline an inconsistently or not at all

in a certain area pushing your child to excel without the same amount of effort

of encouragement or pushing them consistently beyond their ability or

just being a critical criticism all the time trying to live your life through

your child absent father a mother therefore you're constantly saying I

don't have time at a life time lack of participation in their interests sports

pleasure or their own life and manipulation now there are principles

I've put in your notes like the principles for a proverb for the husband

and fathers you can have some fun looking those up and fathers are really

highly recommend that you do that's not all the things in Proverbs but I'll get

you started let's look at the ten commandments of a successful father I

found these and modified them according to what I like and so let me read the

Ten Commandments to the father okay first deals with family priority thou

shalt hold no other group among more important than the family unit in all

thy ways be faithful to it number two dealing with teaching thou

shalt teach thy sons and daughters to love respect and obey God and their

parents number three loving thou shalt be a love loving and considerate father

and husband number four honorable speech thou shalt not speak in

a manner unbecoming to a Christian gentleman number five corporate worship

thou shalt by example make Sunday a special day set aside for God and for

the worship of the family and number six physical and spiritual provider thou

shalt provide for the ice family spiritually physically in an adequate

manner number seven dealing with home discipline thou shalt promote and lead

family worship in thy home number eight dealing with honesty thou shalt be

honest in all thy dealings number nine respect other family members thou shalt

respect the desires and freedoms of thy family as individuals and number 10

loving leader thou

and we began the role of the husband and we saw that the husband should regard

his family as a blessing he should gain joy from his family I think men often

look many places to find joy and happiness but we're forced to find it in

our homes that's not the only place but it should be the major place that we

find the joy we look to get a second of all to the husband

005 - Marriage and Family - The Role of the Husband - Dr. Steve Sullivan - Part 1 - Duration: 48:06.

this is a two lessons in one all right I guess five and six lessons five and six

if you notice and I again encourage you all to continue to put these in your

booklet and so you can turn it in at the end of the time to get your credit for

your discipleship level okay yes sir just like the first two and you can use

Windows Bloom's notebooks in the back Karen bring them in now let's go to the

Lord in prayer father we thank you both for your good hanging upon us as we

would be pleased to study such a beautiful institution that you have put

forth in Scripture the home marriage and family and we pray this morning that

you'd be pleased to encourage the men and the husbands here to walk by faith

and not by sight and to do their role as husbands and fathers so that your you

may use them in their home and so Lord were trusting you this morning that you

might encourage them in and pray in Christ's name Amen what we want to start

in a marriage and family and we're going to deal with the fathers and husbands

first we'll do that for two weeks and then we will shift all over into the

ladies with wives and mothers and my rules on this is that when I'm talking

to the men the ladies can't be gouging them in and when I talk to the ladies no

you know the men can't be gouging the ladies so I pray this will be

encouraging to both what happens when you begin to talk about marriage and

family and husband and wife roles that people get discouraged they look at the

role or what they're supposed to be doing and they say gosh you know I fall

so short and they have a tendency sometimes your students just to quit not

to come anymore but I don't want that to happen God

always brings forth the ideal you know the ideal of what we're supposed to have

and then he works with you where you are so don't be discouraged but be

encouraged gonna get list notes across the hall there

I had this illustration I thought it was very good the illustration itself is not

good but I think it illustrates what I want to try to say the squeal of tires

signals that father's home inside a nervous squeals of children respond any

second now the door will fling open and dad will in be ready to inspect the

children in the house for inspection nobody wants to be caught with a toy out

of place that when the general walks in the kitchen is buzzed with activity as

mom puts the final touches to the supper she knows how much her husband hates to

wait for a meal as the steaming gravy is placed at the table the door opens good

evening children run along to the table now and don't be too noisy and turning

to his wife he says good evening dear I've had a rough day at the office I'm

looking forward to a quiet evening after you clean up the kitchen can you get the

kids to bed early I'm bushed now the only wanted anybody to interrupt me when

the football game comes on somebody would see this unfeeling tyrant as a

biblical father he goes to job two the work every day he puts the food on the

table he furnishes his house well his children well but the style biblical is

this picture could it be that this guy is more of a threat to the survival of

the home than he is of a biblical model for husbands well we have a problem in

America and if that is is that the family is being attacked

and specifically the husband-and-wife role as well as parent and children but

this morning I want to look at the husband and I wanted to tell you what is

happening in America may not be you but you know I want you to tell you what's

happening to husbands first of all husbands are absent a lot we're having

more single-parent homes okay and so there becomes a problem or the husband

is is supports little I mean he's there but he's really not there you know what

I'm saying he is doing his own thing to such an extent that the children and the

wife doesn't do not have the support that they need the husband is often a

very good leader in the in the marketplace and he makes decisions and

he handles problems and he and he takes care and he takes control but when he

comes home he's tired he's through the making decisions and he does want

anymore hassles and he and a man who is a tremendous in his field at work can be

as passive as the day long when he gets home not making decisions not guiding

not directing not directing his home directly just kind of letting it happen

selfishness creeps in because he worked so many hours and he comes home and he

has the mentality well you know I've been working so hard I've got so many

hours in you know don't they understand that I need some time to myself well

that may be true but oftentimes it's become selfish because that's the only

time he has left us for himself and then he goes to bed then the family has

nothing they don't get anything so he begins to pursue his own pleasures and

his own hobbies and his home delights and there's nothing left for the home

though he's there yeah

that's exactly right and you will do that unless you know what you're doing

if you cover it and decide that even though I'm tired or whatever I'm going

to go home and this is these are the things I need to be doing there's many

other problems but I sense that these are some of the things that cause a

problem in the home well what is the husband's role what is the father's role

in the home and I'd like to to briefly go through this and to give the the I

guess the large principles there's always many other things that we could

say and so let's look in your notes there to the role of the husband and

father and and you see the first point is that he should regard his family a

blessing of God and gain joy from it I think God has made homes that we may

gain our joy from our homes let's look over to Psalm 127

it's a psalm of solomon found in the psalms and he tells us some important

points here for fathers again unless guysthis be encouraged here and not

discouraged if you're not owning up to these certain points then go to God and

ask him to continue why if you ought to encourage not gouge them all right

unless the house unless the Lord builds the house they labor in vain who built

it I mean you can build a great house but if you're not building it upon the

Lord and not the way the Lord says it it's in vain it's the same thing he gets

to talk about the city unless the Lord guards the city the watchman keep awake

in vain I mean he can watch and say something but if the Lord is not with

you you're not going to prevail

it is vain to for you to rise up early to retire late to eat the bread of

painful labor for he gives to his beloved even in his sleep now what is he

saying here why is giving a figure of speech what do you do when you get up

early and go to bed late you mean you're tired is a man I'm getting up early and

I'm going home late and the mentality is I gotta make it I gotta get this bucks

in I've got to do all these things and yet he eats of the bread of painful

labor as though he is only up to him to make the money and that's it I'm not

saying that you should kick back and go to a thirty hour workweek and this that

and the other but if you were laboring getting up early and going bed late and

on that treadmill I mean I gotta do it cuz I got to do it I've got to do it and

not depending upon God it's it's in vain cuz God can give it to you while you're

sleeping you know people up come and I'm gonna get this John I'm gonna get some

more business in is that in the other and then you're worrying all day and you

know working all night and you're not doing some other things you should be

doing in the home think I can do that while you're asleep now I'm not trying

to stay on the other end that not to do something I'm just saying what are you

depending on

that's right bootstrap theology right pull them up on my own bootstrap

well verse 3 says behold children are a gift of the Lord the fruit of the womb

is a reward and I'm afraid that today's society doesn't look at their children

there's gifts they look at me as liabilities I gotta raise these kids you

know how they're you know they're taking away from my personal time and in this

that and the other well it's true they take away their personal time but we

ought to give our what happens is that we we've got our mentality in the wrong

place you know enjoy your children sure they're paying at certain times but

that's part of child training which will get to Lord willing but we ought to find

our joy within our homes and a older your children get if you rear them

according to the scriptures and they're responding according to the Scriptures

the more joyful it is you know I used to say that by faith now I'm there so I'm

thankful for that so the children are gifts there are

rewards I mean what do you think about a reward you'll hang in great oh my god

well that's how we should look at our children now first thought like arrows

in the hands of a warrior so our children of ones you look at your

children as arrows and that's after they graduate from high school you put them

in your bow and what do you do you shoot them you shoot them out into society and

you want to make sure your arrows are straight that they they know where they

going to light and so we are are given by God as as his instrument to hone the

so that when we it's time to go we'll shoot our arrows and they will be

straight okay what we doing with our kids how blessed is the man whose quiver

is full of them now I've understood over the time that there's different sized

Quivers for different people okay so we thank God for Quivers all right they

shall not be ashamed when they speak with their enemies in the gate now who

are the day well as a great debate among the commentators is does the day refer

to the children to the vase refer to the father so the surveys refer to both

children and fathers well I take the latter one though it's hard to determine

in the context which because either one could be I think that when they the

fathers and the children are speaking in the public square that's the gate that's

where the courthouse was okay and all the public things that happened when

they speak in the public they will not be shamed why because your arrows are

straight they can't have any say you back up father you you're you're both

saying is true what dad's saying and things you didn't they can they can take

because his home is in order and the enemy has nothing to lay hold of to

discredit him in any way in the public so we want to say that that children are

a blessing and they of the home the home it should be a blessing and so therefore

men we should look at our homes to gain blessing there what does the tenants for

man is to go somewhere else now I'm not saying we can't go to the gun range or

go hunting or whatever but what I'm saying is this is your home a place

where you enjoy and if it didn't then you need to work on something you need

to say well what is it that we need to change so that this will be a blessing I

find in my own life I feel like I'm on a merry-go-round

sometimes you know America radicals around around you oh yeah I got to do

something oh yeah you just kind of you know you're just on a treadmill you just

keep going and I sometimes I literally say it's time to stop to get off

merry-go-round I think I wanna get on something else and sometimes it takes

that kind of radical wait a minute before things are turning around at our

home what we can do something different and so a home should be a blessing now

ladies we're not talking to you but this would be helpful men are out in the

workplace and they're in an ungodly being smashed all day long and if coming

home is unpleasant guess what they'll spent they'll find some excuse to stay

longer they'll stay with some excuse to do something so they don't have to be at

home but if their home is something that they gain joy from they will want to

come home the boss may not want them to come home but they will want to come

home and spend time all right second point not only should the home be a

blessing but number two husband and fathers who fear God will will reap

great benefits in the home and I just chose Psalm 128 which is the next Psalm

in the text notice in verses one through four how blessed it is everyone who

fears the Lord who walks in his ways when you shall eat of the fruit of your

hands you shall happy be happy and it will be well with you your wife shall be

like a fruitful vine within the house and your children like a leaf plants

around your table behold for thus shall the man be blessed who fears the Lord

now notice he's got the family in mind the wife is defined a leaf plant

surrounds you in other words it's a blessing it's it's beautiful you know

it's kind of like going to the Olive Garden anything and what what he's

saying here though is verse 1 and verse 4 kind of

starts and finishes it and what's his number one point in verses 1 and 4 is

that you need men need to fear the Lord now what does it mean to fear the Lord

okay and I've talked about this I I guess I've given different kinds of

definitions to try to help the one that I have down here is in my own notes is

the fear of God is the awe and holy caution that arises from the realization

of the greatness of God there's a tall and there's a caution there's a sense of

wanting to be close to God because he's my father and he's my what the one who I

want he's my Savior but on the other hand he's so holy and righteous that

there is somewhat of a fear there not only I'm afraid that he's gonna zap me

but there is because of just who he is how awesome he is there's a fear there

such passages in the Old Testament listen to this this is one of the major

themes of the Old Testament for a man who walk godly before the Lord fear of

the Lord is the beginning of wisdom the fear of the Lord is the beginning of

knowledge talks about let's see several passages in the New Testament about

fearing God trembling before him and so what we see here is that men who follow

God that the concept of you know walking godly would be another way of saying it

but one of the the the phrases that's in the Old and New Testament is fearing God

and I think it has a correct concept and many people shy away from that turn

because you said well we're not afraid of God well I'm not afraid of God in the

sense that he's gonna send me to hell or he's gonna condemn me because that was

placed on Christ but there's an awe that coming in the very presence of a holy

being I might affect every place where I find where angels come in the presence

of men men fall on the face and you know angels are nothing compared to God's

holiness and so there's just a there is just an

all there that we should have and in doing that that will I guess they'll say

well garner steps cause us to be cautious to step into sin and on the

other hand it will encourage us to draw near to God and worship Jimmy I just

said well it is the odd holy caution that arises when you realize the

greatness of God how does this work in practical life I I related to father-son

relationship when I grew up if you had a godly father you can all relate to this

I had a godly father and I didn't want to disobey my father because my father

had some great traits and one of them was when he said something you can bank

on and so when he says if you do this you're going to get it you know I could

Bank on that I could take you to the bank everything he was very consistent

you know I've tried to think of it but if i disobeyed them you know the rod was

there you know and so I was in some sense I didn't want the rod and so I I

obeyed in certain areas because I just didn't want to get a spanking I just

didn't want to have to you know get grounded for the week or whatever it was

going to be okay but that's a very low view of of the fear of God but often

times that is where we are and that's good you but you hopefully you want that

you love your father so much and you respect your father so much that you

don't want to do it because you don't want to disappoint him he just creams

for him to be disappointed in you and that's what way I was on many things I

won't do this because I didn't take to get the admonishment my father he says

no no I just thought better to you you know I've raised you better than that I

think you know it really hurts me won't dad do that I probably having bust me

you know don't do that but it was true and that kind of thing

because of respect and honor helped me to understand more of the fear of my

father in a good way okay so I hope I haven't spent too much

time on this but the concept of fear of God and it brings great benefit among

your home I mean if you want your children men to love God then you need

to love God you need to fear Him they need to see your reverence and awe of

who God is your holy caution not to do things because God sent us out you know

because God says so alright thirdly it is crucial for husband and wife to obey

the Lord's command and the power of the Spirit and we've talked about the

obedience begins with your attitude and their attitude should be the fear of the

Lord and second there should be obedient to the Lord let's turn to Psalm 1 they

said we should gain our joy from our homes we should have a fear of the Lord

because there's a great benefit in that and number two that we should obey the

Lord the fear of the Lord is an attitude of how your attitude is brings forth how

you will act notice so I'm one one through three how blessed is the man who

does not do something and then he's going to say how though he doesn't say

it again he's going to say how blessed is the man that does certain things

first of all he doesn't how blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel

of the wicked nor stand in the path of sinners nor sit in the seat of scoffers

did you know that did you notice the progression and I want to tell you man

if you begin to walk with men who are bad counsel you'll begin to stand with

them oh yeah you might stand in the background but you're with them

everybody will know you begin to walk in the counsel of the ungodly okay

then you begin to stand in the path with sinners and when you begin to stand with

and guess what then you'll sit with them and participate with them there is

always a progression see listen to their counsel you begin to stand by and then

you'll sit with them and the benefits that they will receive are not good but

on the other hand though he doesn't say in verse 2 blessed is a man that is the

context blessed is the man who does not do this but verse 2 blessed is the man

that delights in the law of the Lord and in his law he meditates day and night

do you realize what he's saying man what is what are you delight in well I enjoy

looking at this I'll enjoy going this someday

what is your delight if you want to be blessed by God what is your delight his

says his your delight should being in the scriptures in the law of the Lord

how do you know that you have it what do you meditate on is it the Word

of God he says he meditates on a day and night well I have to admit I'm a even

though I'm a preacher I fall shorter that at times but that is my heart I

meditate on certain things one ought to see things in my life even when I'm in

pharmacy work when I do something on the side now when something happens the

scriptures come to mind I begin to meditate on that surely sometimes not

very long because they gotta cook do something else till my minds occupied in

it but my heart Matthew if you could if you could rake back my spiritual heart

you know they do a heart surgery my great desire is to is to meditate on God

and to do his work and so in your own minds heart as you write back your

spiritual heart what does it race to even if it doesn't really race to God if

you can't be honest and you know how you determine that it do you meditate on

God's work I mean is that your delight God says blessed is that kind of manner

now what happens to that madman he begins to explain in verse three but he

uses an illustration of a tree he says and he will be like a tree firmly

planted or transplanted by the streams of water

I can only relate it to Kerrville where I lived for many years by the Guadalupe

River there are some huge cypress trees I mean you keep looking at me King your

neck hurts your neck just to see how high those things are and I remember

living there for nine years and I had to - floods the only one was worse than

thirty - they said and I mean it came up high and guess what they let me know

everything was washed down the river and there's all kinds of damage done and

guess what when the one river receded got back into his banks guess what those

those cypress trees or right there why their roots were deep they were planted

by the water and they received their sustenance there and they got to reach

deep oh I want to tell you one of the storms of life come and you have been

meditating upon the word and your heart is toward God you will be the sturdy oak

the mighty cypress tree for your family because your roots will be deep within

the Word of God and you say we're not budging

all right we're going here because God's Word says and that is what we need in

our society now notice again he says of what happens he will yield fruits in its

season you begin to flower as a man of God and boy do we need men to be men of

God and I said this is not to discourage any person if I mean everybody's gonna

fall short today okay but what we're saying is don't be so well you know I'm

just not doing that so I'll quit well where is it then I began to start

pursuing that that's what I say let's pursue that that's what I want to be God

help me to be that kind of so that when when the storms of life

coming in the times when they need me the time will I need answers there's

fruits there remember free will come in due season you won't come to the fruit

tree during the time it's supposed to give me apples and there's no apples but

because I have been meditating God's Word and I've been planted by the water

that the fruit will be there when I need it fans trying to preach can you come in

here and take me out excited about this but notice also it says and it's leaf

does not wither you don't die you don't shrivel up because you because you're

gaining the the food from God that your leaves are always that there's not an

autumn time when you lose your leaves you're like the live oak came in the

hill country they're always green year-round they drop their leaves and

they bring them again they never bear or like the the cedar trees and whatever he

does he prospers why cause he doesn't God's Way if you have a heart fears of

God and you want to obey God you are going to be blessed now you've got to

realize the standard of the world's blessings and success will be different

but you indeed will be blessed now let's look at a few other passages well that

is our backdrop turn over to the New Testament to John chapter 14

John 14 verse 15 these are all in your notes if you love me you will keep my

Commandments part of obeying God I hope is that you do it out of a motivation of

fearing God and loving God if you love God you will keep its Commandments I

have problems when people come to me and say yeah I love God but they're not

keeping his Commandments now I realize we can't do it apart from the grace of

God we can't keep the commandments of God without the Spirit of God motivating

us but he's already in us he's already caused us to be born again

what we need to do is step out by faith right now this verses 23 and 24 jesus

answered and said to him if anyone loves me he will keep my word and my father

will love him and will come to him and make our abode with him he does not love

me does not keep my words and the word which you hear is not mine but the

fathers who sent me now look at Romans chapter 5 Romans 5:5

he gives a long list here but then he talks about and hope does not disappoint

because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy

Spirit who has been given us we are to love God well then how are we to love

God whatever God requires he what he provides and that provision is that he

has given us the Holy Spirit which has poured out the love within our own

hearts why because in verse eight he demonstrated his love so that he could

do that by dying on the cross and be and because of our belief in him he now

pours in our hearts that we might be able to love him

so it's always in comforting to me to know that whatever God requires me to do

as a husband or as a father he has provided for me

that I need to turn to him to get the power to do these things well we could

look at some other verses but we've already went through several e verses

and and I have a lot of material here to cover that won't get through that all

today but let's move on so we've talked about men you need to get your joy from

home I mean from the Lord but God gives the home as a means of finding joy we

are to have the attitude of fearing God so that we may have a action that obeys

God and we're able to obey God because of the power of the Holy Spirit and

there's great benefit in that if men you want your your family to follow God then

your example is absolutely crucial as you well know as I said it many times

truth and what the Scriptures says is caught more than it's taught you need to

do both but they want to see it it amazes me as the testimony of young men

maybe they came out of the drug scene or somewhere with ungodly home and they

begin to study scriptures I've had people in seminary come and say you know

I'm learning all this and I have the knowledge but I don't work

Oh Fitz in society how does this work in the hall I've never had this I don't

know where to put it I mean I've got this knowledge but how do you work it

out and so even though if you know these things the importance of having the

wisdom to place it in to action in their home let's turn to again the D in our

notes one of our responsibilities responsibilities as husbands and fathers

is to lovingly lead his family in the way that Christ like Christ leads the

church I almost been a great deal of time here

I had a little funny story that I found that kind of tells us what happens to

marriages sometimes over the years and this is a scenario of a wife getting

sick down through the seven years once every year and the response here it's

found in a Saturday Evening Post that I got out of some of MacArthur's book and

it goes something like this it's called the seven ages of married cold gol D and

it reveals the reaction of a husband to the wife's coal during the first seven

years of marriage and it goes something like this the first year Oh

sugar plum I'm really worried about my baby girl you've got a bad sniffing

there's no telling about these things with all the strep going around I'm

putting you in the hospital this afternoon for a general checkup and a

good rest I know the food is lousy but I'll be bringing you food from Rossini

yeah Rossini and I've already I've already got it arranged with the floor

superintendent year number two comes around she gets too cold listen darling

I don't I don't like the sound of that cough I've called doc Miller and asked

him to rush right over here now you go to bed like a good girl please just for

Papa year number three maybe you better down honey nothing like a rest when

you're feeling lousy I'll bring you something have you got any canned soup

chicken soup do you fourth year now look dear be sensible after you feed the kids

wash the dishes and finish the floors you better slow down fifth year why

don't you take a couple of aspirins 6-tier I wish you would just gargle or

something instead of sitting around all evening and barking like a seal seventh

year for pete's sake stop sneezing are you trying to give me an ammonia Valley

laugh at that but the decline of marriage seems to be like the common

cold isn't it humorous look but not so humorous in reality is it well let's

look what we should be doing in our marriages let's look at Ephesians five

we can go anywhere without looking at that dealing with our responsibilities

men Fijians Chapter five we're going to begin with verse 18 most

people begin with verse 22 but I think it's very important for us to start with

verse 18 because it says do not get drunk with wine for it's dissipation but

be filled with the spirit now why would he start with that Paul's going to deal

with husband and wife rose parent and children slave and master and then

spiritual warfare and he begins by saying the only way you're going to do

this is by the power of the Spirit of God now when we begin to talk about

these areas here I found as I began to teach this that people's marriages got

worse when I did this because they they kept saying we'll see you're supposed to

be doing this and then well yeah but you're supposed to be doing this and

they begin to see none of they are doing what they're supposed to be doing and so

they begin to gouge each other and they cause the worst problems

now I don't think it's cause it works I think God's turning the nest up to do

what is right but God's given here the ideal and you know what he's saying he's

saying you need to do your role whether your wife or your husband does their

role at all and you can hear me say that and you can say right but when it

happens your flesh is going to be screaming in your ear to do something

unbiblical and you're gonna say well why do I keep doing it they're not doing

their role and then you know you begin to check why you do things are you doing

this just to receive the blessings from your mate or are you doing it because

you love God and you want him to be pleased and really begin to see what

kind of motive it is because in the areas where I counsel people it gets

real rough but the blessing comes when we obey God usually I went when it

problems happened the very thing they don't want to do is the very thing I

have to tell them to do and at first it's the most painful because their

pride and their flesh is wearing Epple they're not doing their home and that is

exactly though what God wants to do so you find when you begin to work with

husband and wife lo you're what you're really working with a Christian walk you

come down to really what is your motivation for living you say in Bible

churches well it's to glorify God is that true I found that that's where the

rubber begins to meet the road because when we faced here with what I have to

do with no encouragement from a mate am I going to do it is it enough that my

heavenly father is pleased with me if my husband my wife is never pleased

with me or never encourages me well that's why he says be filled with the

spirit she's gonna have to be controlled with the spirit you know when it when

both mates are doing their role that's blessing it's a great but that's the

ideal it doesn't happen every day it doesn't fill my house I'm so thankful

for marriage and it's it's it gets better every year

but worst you know two sinners living each other it's always really rough in

it no amens out there now I believe in verse 22 21 he begins to tell us

something very important he says be subject to one another in fear of God

did you see that and I think this is a protection for the woman specifically

man we are to submit to our wives it's different it's a different submission

than my than their submission to us but there is a submission one to another

okay it's not I'm di sergeant I'm boss and you need to snap too but there is a

submission one to another the roles are different but let's listen let's start

on the onset here realizing there's a mutual submission among each other okay

now verse 23 well get the ladies some other time but verse 23 says where the

husband is the head of the wife as Christ also is the head of the church he

himself being the savior of the body so the husband is the head what does he

mean by that he's the one who has the authority he's the one who should take

leadership now that's a loaded term today what does it mean to take

leadership and actually as we're going to see it's gonna be loving leadership

what does it mean men to lovingly lead now I don't have a whole time but let me

give you four five six seven things here okay I've put them least a beginning of

them first of all it's serving deals with serving love

leadership does not express itself in demanding to be served but in strength

to serve and to sacrifice for the good of the wife it's not to demean her a

servant leadership I mean what did Jesus do when was in the in us in the Upper

Room discourse I mean yeah Upper Room he was he girded himself the town gone his

Neath washed the disciples feet and well who should have been washing history

they should have been but he didn't he led by being serving okay that

concept can work in the in the business field but there's some checks and

balances that has to be there so people run over you you've got to be a firm

person - all right second leading her to Christ loving leadership means leading

your your wife to the Lord Jesus Christ to encourage her and her growth in the

Lord Jesus Christ that means the it rules out belittling her as a supervisor

or I guess having oversight that would just squelch ER okay you want to lead

her to and leader and to the things of Christ

number three mobilizing the strengths of others a good leader will do what know

the strengths of someone and help them along and so loving leadership does not

presume superiority but mobilizes the strengths of others any type of

leadership that produces in maturity or spiritual weakness or excessive control

or picky supervising is not biblical leadership initiative it doesn't mean

that a man has to initiate everything but he has the overall general

pattern of initiating things amongst crouching ladies that they can't

initiate things but if the woman is always initiating the man has lost his

job the overall initiating should be from the man that's a general overall

okay fifth leadership deals with responsibilities of the final say I mean

you know ladies offering English said wow they always have the last say well

yeah they do may have the last say but they have the last responsibility BAPS

stand for God with that decision I mean you may have to suffer for a little bit

here on earth with that but there could be for God one day and that decision has

to be you know taking up with Jesus Christ and so wherever thority is

there's there is accountability yes TV

that's right for example if you take your wife's opinion which you always

should listen to it's no longer her opinion anymore it's yours and so you

can't legitimately come back to well I shouldn't listen to you that's on Bibble

well you know if I take her advice it's mine don't date well I just don't want

to hear it and so did to get her off my back

I'll make her decision nah if I take her decision it's my decision you know it's

it's mine you know you might want to say thanks honey for helping it turns out

bad you just have to say well I made a wrong decision it's my fault okay that's

part of leadership right the buck stops there right six strong and tender

pursuit strong but tender pursuit loving leadership expresses romantic sexual

relationship by communicating a strong and tender pursuit don't mean you gotta

be rough and thinner but you know I pursued there that is tender but strong

well it could be but in the context I was thinking about here is in the sexual

aspect of it and of course then it in the tender kindness of God he

this is a two lessons in one all right I guess five and six lessons five and six

if you notice and I again encourage you all to continue to put these in your

booklet and then so she can turn it in at the end of the time to get your

credit for your discipleship level yes sir just like the first two and you can

use ones blue note looks in the back Karen bring them in now let's go to the

Lord in prayer father we thank you both for your good hanging upon us as we

would be pleased to study such a beautiful institution that you have put

forth and Scripture
