Waching daily Sep 15 2017

Let's get straight into the details on North Korea's missile launch.

This latest ballistic missile flew over Japan and landed out in the Pacific Ocean,... and

appears to be Pyongyang's response to the UN Security Council sanctions approved earlier

this week.

Let's hear more from our defense ministry correspondent, Kim Hyun-bin, who joins us

on the line.

Hyun-bin... a worrying development that adds to tensions in the region...

That's right, Mark.

North Korea launched... what we now know... was an intermediate ballistic missile early

Friday morning from an area near Pyongyang.

South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff say the IRBM was fired at 6:57 a.m., South Korean

time, from Sunan near the North Korean capital.

It flew over northern Japan and came down in the north Pacific.

South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff say the missile reached an altitude of 770 kilometers

and flew around 37-hundred kilometers.

That means it flew longer than any other missile North Korea has fired.

Seoul and Washington are currently analyzing the launch to confirm what type of missile

it was, but experts say it was most likely a Hwasong-12.

Late last month North Korea fired a Hwasong-12 over Japan,... which travelled 27-hundred

kilometers and reached a maximum altitude of about 550 kilometers.

Friday's launch followed a similar path, but flew one thousand kilometers further than

the previous launch.

In response, the South Korean military conducted its own ballistic missile training exercise

just seven minutes after North Korea's missile launch.

The military fired two Hyunmoo-two missiles,... which have a range of 250 kilometers.

(Korean) "With the consent of the president, the military

launched two Hyunmoo-2 ballistic missiles into the East Sea.

It's the same distance between the training area and the Sunan airfield, where the missile

was fired."

One of them landed directly on target, but the other crashed into the East Sea shortly

after launch.

The South Korean military is looking into the failed launch.

North Korea's latest launch also comes four days after the UN Security Council slapped

stronger sanctions on the regime for its sixth nuclear test conducted earlier this month.

I'll keep an eye on any updates,.. and bring them to you during the next newscast at two.

Back to you.

Korean Theater in Kazakhstan prepares for performance to mark 80th anniversary of forced migration - Duration: 2:14.

Eighty years ago,... ethnic Koreans living in the then Soviet Far East were forced to

migrate thousands of miles to parts of Central Asia.

A Korean theater in Kazakhstan is preparing for a special performance to reflect on that

tragic period in history.

Our Kim Hyesung reports from Kazakhstan, where there are around 100,000 ethnic Koreans.

(sov) "What have we done wrong, that they dropped

us in such a desert... leaving us to die."

This is play, all performed in Korean that combines songs, musical elements, and dance.

And it conveys a story that contains love, separation, forced migration, and resettlement.

It's a rehearsal for next week's big event...to mark the 80th anniversary of the forced relocation

of ethnic Koreans from the soviet union in Almaty, the biggest city in Kazakhstan.

(Kazakh) "Forced migration was tragic.

We are not celebrating that day, but rather the lives of Koryeoin over the last 80 years

and how our ancestors settled down in Kazakhstan."

(standup) Almaty "The Korean theater is in itself a living

testimony of the lives of Koryeoin.

Founded in Vladivostok in 1937, it's the first theater to be established outside of Korea

with 85 years of history.

"

The national theater has close to a hundred performers, all ethnic Koreans, many of them

4th and 5th generations, whose parents and grandparents were also performers.

(korean) Antonina PYAK, Performer "I'm proud to be a member of our theater,

one of the only three in Kazakhstan given national status.

My husband, and his dad were performers here and even my son is now a singer here."

Between the 1930s and 1950s, the theater was in danger of disappearing as many Koryeoin

were relocated from Vladivostok and scattered to other parts of Central Asia.

Yet, to keep their Korean heritage, culture and language alive, members of the theater

stayed united...and are passing down their story to the next generation to be introduced

to the world.

Mattis tight-lipped on possible redeployment of tactical nukes in South Korea - Duration: 0:47.

And regarding the possibility of the United States redeploying tactical nuclear weapons

on the Korean Peninsula,... there were few clues to be gleaned from the U.S. Secretary

of Defense.

Speaking to reporters, Pentagon chief James Mattis refused to comment on the issue in

detail... but said Washington is having "open discussions" with its allies... regarding

the North Korean threat.

Mattis said it was long-standing U.S. policy... not to disclose the location... of its nuclear

arsenal,... and said its deterrent remains strong... regardless of where the weapons

are deployed.

Although nuclear weapons were removed from the Korean Peninsula in 1991,...

South Korea remains under protection of the U.S. nuclear umbrella.

Emergency meeting to assess economic risks from N. Korea's missile threat - Duration: 0:42.

The leaders of India and Japan... have called on nations across the world... to further

ramp up pressure on North Korea.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi... issued a joint statement

after their summit,... where a range of bilateral issues were also discussed.

Yu Joonhee reports.

North Korea was the key issue during the Thursday summit... between prime ministers Abe and

Modi... their 10th meeting in less than three years.

The two leaders condemned the Kim Jong-un regime for its latest nuclear test,... demanding

a halt to its missile and nuclear programs.

They also urged Pyongyang to adhere to UN Security Council resolutions,... while calling

on the international community to dial up sanctions pressure on the nation.

(Japanese) "Regarding the recent developments in North

Korea,... Japan and India will show a firm response.

The whole of the international community must fully implement the recently adopted United

Nations Security Council resolution, and force North Korea to change its policy."

Also, in an apparent reference to China's growing influence in the South China Sea,...

Abe and Modi reaffirmed the importance of freedom of navigation... and agreed to promote

cooperation on maritime security.

Tokyo also pledged to loan New Delhi about one-point-seven billion U.S. dollars, to help

boost Indian infrastructure.

Ahead of their summit, the two leaders attended a ceremony to inaugerate India's first bullet

train project, which uses Japanese technology.

They also hailed... a civilian nuclear cooperation agreement that was struck between the two

countries... and went into effect in July.

The framework enables Japan to export... its nuclear power technology to India,... with

a working group soon to be created,... to promote further cooperation in the sector.

Other agreements reached include the so-called Open Skies agreement, which gives airliners

more freedom to decide routes and flight schedules, as well as a slew of cultural exchanges.

NASA bids farewell to Cassini satellite - Duration: 1:42.

In about eight hours, NASA's Cassini satellite will end its remarkable 20-year journey through

space, taking one last look at Saturn before it dives into the giant planet.

Ro Aram reports.

On October 15th, 1997, NASA launched Cassini from California on a meandering path through

the Solar System - a journey that has now spanned two decades and nearly eight billion

kilometers.

Thirteen of those years have been spent orbiting Saturn, studying its rings, surface and hemisphere,

as well as its moons.

Scientists from around the world who had worked on the project since the 1980s will try hard

to hold back their tears when they say goodbye.

(English) AP 4114586 / 1 "So it will feel in some sense like a death

in the family, you know something you've devoted your life to for 27 years and then it will

be gone."

Though other satellites have provided glimpses into Saturn, they were just sneak peaks compared

to what Cassini had to offer.

It is also the first and only spacecraft so far to actually go into orbit around the ringed

planet, discovering six new moons and giving evidence that some of them could house life.

NASA decided to end the mission because Cassini is running out of fuel, the last of which

will be used to crash it into the planet's atmosphere.

This option was chosen instead of continuing the orbit to avoid contaminating any of the

moons with a possible collision.

The probe will gather data on Saturn's clouds and moons for its swansong before being burnt

to a crisp.

The final signals from Cassini, before if goes silent, will arrive early Friday morning,

California time.

South Korean President condemns N. Korean missile test; orders readiness against biological threats - Duration: 3:53.

Following the launch, South Korea's presidential office held an emergency meeting of the National

Security Council.

Let's now go live to our chief Blue House correspondent Moon Connyoung.

Connyoung, how is the top office taking the North's missile launch this morning?

North Korea's missile launch today is definitely a direct challenge to South Korea, the U.S.,

and the rest of the international community as it comes just days after a new sanctions

resolution was adopted by the UN Security Council intended to force the rogue state

to halt its accelerating nuclear and missile tests, Mark.

Now within an hour or so from Pyongyang's missile launch, South Korean President Moon

Jae-in held an urgent meeting of the National Security Council... which lasted over 70 minutes.

Here's President Moon's Spokesperson, Park Soo-hyun.

(Korean) "Upon being briefed on North Korea's missile

launch this morning, President Moon immediately ordered the launch of Hyunmoo-2 ballistic

missile off in a simulated pre-emptive strike and said this is the time to make all out

efforts to ensure the UNSC resolution 2375 is thoroughly executed."

Now, his spokesperson also told the media that President Moon ordered his government

to be fully prepared against an electromagnetic pulse or EMP and biological threats from North

Korea.

These are things that Pyongyang has been threatening of.

Connyoung, even in the wake of North Korea's latest and most powerful nuclear test to date

just over a week ago, President Moon had not ruled out the possibility of talks and engagement

with North Korea.

Does today's launch change anything for President Moon?

You're absolutely right, Mark.

The South Korean leader, despite continued provocations from Pyongyang, has never taken

the engagement option with North Korea off the table.

And, today during the security meeting, he did say South Korea must work with the international

community to examine all diplomatic means to get North Korea to give up its nuclear

and missile programs.

BUT, he also ordered his government to put together effective and stern measures based

on combined defense with the U.S. to cope with the growing threat from Pyongyang...

and said this is no time for dialogue with the North.

So, maybe later, maybe some other time, but with North Korea's relentless provocations

this just isn't the time.

Remember, today's missile test is the 15th by North Korea this year alone and the first

since North Korea detonated its most powerful nuclear bomb to date on September 3rd - that's

only 12 days ago.

The launch also comes just days before South Korean President Moon Jae-in will meet with

U.S. President Donald Trump and Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at the UN General Assembly

in New York next week... so we'll have to wait and see whether the leaders along with

the rest of the global community will enact tougher sanctions on the North.

(VCR OUT) And, that may include a complete cutoff of

oil and other fuels imported into the North, mostly from China... this time around.

Mark.

Definitely.

All right.

Thank you Connyoung.

Our Moon Connyoung from the Blue House.

College Trump Fan Tries To Get Dreamer Classmate Deported - Duration: 10:14.

A STUDENT IN KENTUCKY HAS BEEN DISENROLLED

FROM THE UNIVERSITY THAT HE HAS BEEN GOING TO BECAUSE OF THE

FACT THAT HE THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO HARASS ONE OF HIS

PEERS ON SOCIAL MEDIA BECAUSE SHE HAPPENS TO BE A DREAMER.

TAYLOR RAGG IS A GUY WHO DECIDED IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO

HARASS A FELLOW STUDENT.

HERE'S A SCREENSHOT OF WHAT WAS PUT OUT THERE.

EVERYONE TO REPORT THIS ILLEGAL AND THEN HE ALSO PROVIDES A

PHOTO OF PAOLA.

THINGS GOT REALLY BAD WHEN SHE STARTED RECEIVING

THREATENING MESSAGES FROM ALL SORTS OF PEOPLE, SO SHE

WENT TO ADMINISTRATORS AND HOPED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE SOME

SORT OF SOLUTION.

SHE CLAIMS THAT AT FIRST THEY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT AND

SO SHE TOOK MATTERS INTO HER OWN HANDS AND SHE PUBLISHED A SIX

MINUTE LONG YOUTUBE VIDEO AND WE HAVE A PORTION OF IT FOR YOU.

LET'S TAKE A QUICK LOOK.

WE DON'T HAVE IT RIGHT NOW.

THAT'S OKAY.

IN THE VIDEO, SHE WAS EXTREMELY UPSET.

SHE WAS CRYING AND SHE TALKED ABOUT SOME OF THE

THREATENING MESSAGES THAT SHE GOT.

JUST TO GIVE YOU A FEW EXAMPLES, SOMEONE HAD WRITTEN IN AND SAID

THAT ñ I DON'T HAVE IT IN FRONT OF ME SO I DON'T KNOW.

AFTER THE VIDEO WAS PUBLISHED THE UNIVERSITY ACTUALLY DID TAKE

SOME ACTION AND THEY ARE NOT DISCLOSING EXACTLY WHAT

THEY DID, WHETHER THEY EXPELLED HIM OR HE DECIDED TO LEAVE

THE SCHOOL ON HIS OWN.

I'M GUESSING, AND THIS IS SPECULATION, THAT THEY

PROBABLY EXPELLED HIM BUT HERE IS WHAT PAOLA HAD TO SAY:

I THINK THIS ONE IS ACTUALLY HARDER THAN I THINK YOU

THINK IT IS.

LET'S TALK IT THROUGH.

SHE IS FIRST OF ALL, AN UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANT

BROUGHT INTO THE COUNTRY WHEN SHE WAS 2.

SHE DIDN'T CHOOSE IT AS A TWO-YEAR-OLD.

MAYBE I NEED TO EXPLAIN THAT TO THE RIGHT WING.

NO, TWO-YEAR-OLDS.

THEY MAKE THOSE DECISIONS ON THEIR OWN.

THEY SOMEHOW MIRACULOUSLY CROSS THE BORDER WITHOUT THEIR

DOCUMENTS AND THEN THEY STAY HERE FOR THE REST OF THEIR

LIVES.

AT TWO YEARS OLD YOU HAVE THE ABILITY TO DO THAT, RIGHT?

SO LET'S GO AHEAD AND PUNISH AND HARASS THEM AND TREAT THEM

AS IF THEY ARE SUB HUMANS.

REPRESENTATIVE STEVE KING ON TV TODAY LITERALLY REFERRED TO

DREAMERS AND SAID THEY CHOSE TO BREAK THE LAW IN AMERICA.

REPRESENTATIVE STEVE KING IS THE SCUM OF THE EARTH AND

SO ARE THE PEOPLE WHO DECIDED TO VOTE SUCH A HATEFUL PERSON

INTO THE OFFICE.

REALLY?

CHILDREN AS YOUNG AS TO KNOWINGLY CAME INTO THE

COUNTRY ILLEGALLY?

DREAMERS, SPECIFICALLY DREAMERS ARE PEOPLE WHO ARE BROUGHT

INTO THE COUNTRY WITHOUT THEIR CONSENT, WITHOUT KNOWING

WHAT WAS GOING ON BECAUSE THEY CAME IN US CHILDREN.

IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO SEE THAT, I DON'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO SAY

TO YOU.

IN THIS CASE, PAOLO WAS TOO.

THIS IS HER CASE.

OF COURSE I AGREE ON ALL OF THAT.

SHE IS AN UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANT.

HE POINTED OUT AND PUTS UP HER PICTURE.

DO I THINK IT IS ABOUT IDEA?

ABSOLUTELY, TERRIBLE IDEA.

A COULD LEAD TO HER HARASSMENT AND IT COULD EVEN MAYBE,

IT'S A TRUMPET AERODYNAMICALLY TO HER DEPORTATION.

WHAT A HORRIBLE THING TO DO TO SOMEBODY.

THIS IS THE ONLY COUNTRY SHE HAS EVER KNOWN, YOU WOULD SEND

HER BACK TO A PLACE SHE NEVER GREW UP IN, DOESN'T KNOW?

LATTER NOTION IS THE LANGUAGE THAT ARE KNOW WHAT COUNTRY

SHE IS FROM.

IT'S SUCH A TERRIBLE THING TO DO.

OF FIRST OF ALL, AT THE MOMENT, SHE IS PROTECTED BY

DACA, SEE YOU ARE GOING TO GET HER DEPORTED.

IT HASN'T STOPPED PROTECTING HER YET.

OBVIOUSLY THERE IS STILL LITTLE BIT OF TIME BEFORE CONGRESS

IS TO ACT.

BUT IT COULD HAPPEN AS QUICKLY AS SIX MONTHS.

THAT'S TRUE IF CONGRESS DOESN'T REACH A DEAL OR IF TRUMP

CONTINUES GOING BACK AND FORTH ON THIS ISSUE, BUT LOOK,

PUT THE DEPORTATION PART OF IT ASIDE BECAUSE OF THE MOMENT, SHE

IS NOT AT RISK OF DEPORTATION BUT HERE IS WHAT DID HAPPEN.

SHE STARTED RECEIVING SIGNIFICANT HARASSMENT FROM

ALL OF THESE RANDOM PEOPLE WHO DON'T KNOW HER AND HE IS A

PERSON, HER PEERS IS THE PERSON WHO DIRECTED ALL OF THIS

HARASSMENT TOWARD HER.

YOU CANNOT HAVE THAT.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT GUY?

YOU HAVE THAT MUCH FREE TIME THAT YOU WERE GOING TO

CREATE THIS CAMPAIGN TO HARASS A FELLOW STUDENT?

IT'S A TERRIBLE THING TO DO, BUT THE QUESTION IS SHOULD

HE BE EXPELLED FOR THAT?

HE'S POINTING OUT THAT SHE IS UNDOCUMENTED.

SHE IS.

SHE DOESN'T DENY IT.

HIM ENCOURAGING OTHERS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT IS THE

PART WHERE I THINK YOU'VE GOT A REALLY GREAT CASE, THE

THIGHS HARASSMENT.

I JUST THINK IT'S A LITTLE BIT TOUGHER ISSUE.

AS AN ADMINISTRATOR, THIS IS WHERE IT IS ON THE LINE.

HE DIDN'T SAY SOMEBODY GO ASSAULT HER, LIKE SCROLLING IT

WITH HILLARY CLINTON GUIDES NEEDLESS INCITEMENT BUT I DON'T

KNOW IF IT MEANS YOU SHOULD BE EXPELLED UP BY THE WAY, WE DON'T

KNOW IF HE WAS EXPELLED HIM OUT OF LEFT VOLUNTARILY.

BY THE WAY, IF YOU ARE PROGRESSIVE, HIS PICTURES

ALL OVER THE PLACE.

DON'T HARASS HIM EITHER.

YOU KNOW WHY, BECAUSE WE ARE NOT DICK'S.

WE ARE NOT UNREASONABLE A LOGICAL PEOPLE WHO WOULD

DIRECT ANY GROUP TO GO HARASS SOMEONE SIMPLY BECAUSE WE

DISAGREE WITH ANYTHING THAT THEY ARE DOING.

I COMPLETELY DISAGREE WITH WHAT HE IS DOING AND IF I WERE

AN ADMINISTRATOR TO UNIVERSITY AND I SAW THIS HARASSMENT

TOOK PLACE, I WOULD ABSOLUTELY CONSIDER EXPULSION AND THIS

IS NOT ABOUT POLITICAL SPEECH.

I HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE FACT THAT HE HAS CREATED A

HOSTILE EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT FOR THE STUDENT WHO HAS

NEVER CAUSED ANY TROUBLE, WHO HASN'T BOTHERED HIM IN ANY WAY.

HE JUST NEEDLESSLY COME OUT OF NOWHERE, DECIDED TO DIRECT

ALL OF THIS HARASSMENT TOWARD HER.

IF YOU WANTED TO SHARE HIS OPINION ABOUT HER IN CLASS

WHILE THEY ARE HAVING A DISCUSSION ABOUT DEPORTATION

OR UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS, I THINK THAT SPEECH SHOULD HAPPEN

AND IT SHOULD BE PROTECTED AND I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THAT.

MY PROBLEM IS HIM DIRECTING THE HARASSMENT FOR THE STUDENT WHO

HAS DONE NOTHING WRONG AND AT THE MOMENT IS PROTECTED BY DACA.

HE MAY HAVE SEEN IN THE NEWS WHERE TRUMP, UNDER THE TRUMP

ADMINISTRATION ICE HAVE DEPORTED PEOPLE WHO HAVE SPOKEN OUT ABOUT

BEING UNDOCUMENTED WHO ARE NOT PROTECTED BY DACA.

HE GAVE A POLITICAL SPEECH ABOUT HOW UNDOCUMENTED SPEECH

SHOULD BE PROTECTED AND ICE WOULD COME IN AND ARREST

THEM RIGHT AFTER THE PORT THEM.

I KNOW THAT RIGHT-WINGERS TAKE GREAT RELISH AND THAT, BUT

I UNDERSTAND EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE SAYING.

A QUOTE THAT SHE READ TO YOU, EVERYONE GO REPORT THAT THE

LEGAL AT MY SCHOOL BREAKING, BRAGGING ABOUT BREAKING THE LAW.

I WORRY THAT IT IS AN INCITEMENT TO ACTION TO GO AFTER HER.

AT THE SAME TIME, HE DIDN'T SAY ASSAULTER, HE SAID REPORT HER SO

I JUST THINK IT IS A LITTLE BIT TOUGHER BUT HE SHOULD'VE NEVER

DONE IN THE FIRST PLACE AND I FELT TERRIBLE FOR PAOLA TO GO

THROUGH THAT KIND OF INTIMIDATION.

I CERTAINLY UNDERSTAND HER WORRY ABOUT WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN TO

HER ON CAMPUS.

SHE WAS ALSO WORRIED THAT THE UNIVERSITY DIDN'T REACT

QUICKLY ENOUGH TO IT WHICH, AS YOU CAN SO HERE, I DON'T

KNOW IF THEY REACTED QUICKLY ENOUGH TO HOW THEY REACTED

I HAVE SOME SYMPATHY FOR BECAUSE I THINK IT'S A PRETTY TOUGH

SITUATION TO "THEY HAVE TO GO THROUGH PROTOCOL.

YOU CAN JUST HAVE A KNEE-JERK REACTION.

I AM ACTUALLY NOT THAT CRITICAL OF HOW THE UNIVERSITY RESPONDED.

YOU DO HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE PROPER CHANNELS TO ENSURE

THAT YOU DO NOT, YOU ARE NOT OVERLY PUNITIVE.

IT IS WHAT IT IS BUT MY ISSUE IS THAT WE NOW LIVE IN THIS

ENVIRONMENT WHERE TRUMP HAS EMBOLDENED KIDS, THIS GUY

IS A KID.

HE IS IN BOLD AND CHILDREN TO BE THIS VICIOUS TOWARD ONE

ANOTHER AND IT IS DISGUSTING.

THAT WE 100% AGREE ON.

EARLIER WE WOULDNíT'VE HAD A SITUATION WHERE PEOPLE THOUGHT

IT WAS A COOL THING TO DO TO TRY TO GET PEOPLE THAT THEY DON'T

AGREE WITH REMOVED FROM THE COUNTRY.

AND RIPPED AWAY FROM THEIR FAMILIES AND ALL THAT GOES

ALONG WITH IT.

TRUMP HAS JUST MADE THIS COUNTRY A MUCH UGLIER PLACE AND IS

IT WORSE TO SEE THE RACISM OUT OF THE CLOSET?

YES.

I PREFER THEY KEPT IN THE CLOSET BECAUSE IT HAS REAL

CONSEQUENCES FOR REAL PEOPLE.

Lotte succumbs to anti-THAAD boycott, begins process to sell China-based stores - Duration: 2:07.

South Korean retail giant Lotte Mart has decided to call it quits and pull out of China.

It has been forced to shut its stores due to an unofficial Chinese boycott protesting

the deployment of a U.S. missile defense system being stationed in Korea.

Watchers say the withdrawal is likely be permanent.

Park Jong-hong reports.

After racking up hundreds of millions of dollars in losses, Lotte Group is selling its hypermarket

chain in China.

Company officials say Lotte Group has begun work to sell off the Lotte Mart chain and

has designated Goldman Sachs as the lead manager.

Depending on negotiations, Lotte could sell all of its 112 supermarkets in China.

(KOREAN- ) "Nothing has been fixed yet, but Lotte Mart

may sell off everything it has in China or a significant chunk of it."

The decision follows the closure of about 80 percent of Lotte Mart stores in China for

more than six months.

Sales came to a halt as Chinese authorities imposed stricter safety and sanitary inspections

on the stores, which was followed by a nationwide boycott by consumers earlier this year.

This was in retaliation to Lotte's agreement with the South Korean government to offer

land to accommodate the THAAD missile defense system.

China has openly voiced opposition to the THAAD deployment,... claiming it poses a threat

to its national security despite repeated assurances from Seoul and Washington that

the system is designed only to defend against North Korea's missile threats.

While its sales have plunged, Lotte has continued to pay salaries to its Chinese staff.

With almost zero sales revenue, Lotte Mart estimates total losses will amount to almost

one billion dollars by the end of this year should the trend continue.

At present, Lotte Group says it's not considering withdrawing business divisions other than

Lotte Mart.

UN Security Council to hold emergency meeting on North Korea's ballistic missile launch - Duration: 1:41.

North Korea's missile provocation was detected almost immediately by Japan and the United

States.

Some three to four minutes after the launch,... Japan issued a nationwide "J-alert" warning

notifying its citizens... and an evacuation order to twelve regions.

In a swiftly organized media conference,...

Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga called Pyongyang's repeated provocations

totally unacceptable and said Tokyo would protest in the strongest possible terms.

Japan's Foreign Minister Taro Kono reportedly said that, given the range of the missile,…he

thinks it was an intercontinental ballistic missile.

There's been no official response from Washington yet,... but the White House says President

Trump has been briefed on the situation by his Chief of Staff John Kelly.

The U.S. Pacific Command confirmed the launch but said it posed no threat to North America

or Guam.

Seoul's Foreign Minister and U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson briefly spoke over

the phone on how to respond to the North's latest provocation.

The UN Security Council will convene a meeting on Pyongyang's missile launch on Friday afternoon,

local time.

This comes on the heels of the UN Security Council resolution adopted earlier this week

after the regime's sixth nuclear test.
