What's up monkey tribe! thank you for joining me in a brand-new series of
Valnir Rok. I think that's how you pronounce it. Valnir Rok!
We've got to sound more, umm, uhh, viking-ey. This is a brand-new game that just released today in alpha
so if anything goes wrong we're blaming it on alpha game is alpha okay but
welcome to a brand new series I think I'm going to be doing a mini-series on
this through the alpha and beta so if you guys enjoy make sure you hit that

yeah as I said before it is a Viking type survival game it's a multiplayer
game so we're gonna go ahead and join the East Coast closed alpha server here
so join up that oh we get to make our character look how scrawny and derp we
look. der der der. Why do we look like a naked mole-rat kind of. haha.
I dunno, he doesn't look very Viking-ey to me let's go ahead and see if we can make him
more Viking-ey. Can we go taller? oh yeah oh yeah baby we're very
tall in real life so let's go tall. We'll make our arms. I think my arms go down to
like there. I'm gonna try and make myself, but... Viking myself does that make sense?
Does that look like I'm a chimp? I don't want to be a chimp I wanna be a
monkey. That's probably... right in there is good. Arm width. Is that like muscles?
Okay, we don't have very many muscles in real
life so we'll make ourselves super buff in the game oh yeah. Oh, look at my butt! That's hilarious.
Forearm length oh okay that's different than my arm length, okay, we'll just keep
that where it was I guess. Forearm width, let's be buff to go with our buff upper
arm. Okay looking good. Hand size okay we need to go to the side here. Ohhhh big hand
we have really big hands. I'm holding it up to the screen like you can see my
hands and our feets can we even see our feets down there? I think we got big
enough feets down there, maybe. Yeah that's probably good right there

if you guys have ever seen that spongebob episode anchor arms. Anchor
arms! Let's go to like right there that kind of fits in with our buffness and I
got upper upper weight well or it could be like super skinny
let's go like I think where it was was fine and there's lower muscle

calves! I don't think we need that big of calves. I'll just keep the calves in the middle

arms like we're shrugging all the time like especially when I do this when I
turn looks like he's shrugging or like super tense all the time. Leg size whoa

pudge belly. Yes! but we won't go that, I won't go that pudge
we're like we're like around here we got a little bit of a belly there okay now
we don't really need I think I'm gonna decrease my leg muscles a little bit missed
missed a couple days just a couple leg days and then we got we just did belly didn't

look to my whole body though unless I like zoom back out okay well our ear

these options you could spend forever just in this menu lip size can we pull

our beards and then we can even edit our beards I think I like our little scruff

and then a bio oh I wonder if other people can see our bio we'll just be
like we are a really swell monkey please do not
Viking us to death okay thanks finish here we go here we go and that's
the first time I've actually loaded up the game and started so you are coming
along the journey with me I have no idea what the controls are or anything
they're supposed to be quests and things as well unlike some of the other
survival type games that just like let you free roam and whatever this is RPG
kind of fused with survival and this game is put out by reverb games so I
want to thank them for giving me the alpha and beta keys to test this out
much appreciated let's go ahead and wait for this to load
Oh baby okay camera angles a little wonky jobs whoa is this gonna can I
switch to like first person well first person please oh we can zoom in and out
with the mouse wheel can we audio master volume down just a little bit save that
we got quest map clan abilities status okay let's go to controls where's our
view interaction combat user interface
can we first-person this combat mode is tab evade or dive okay that's moving
interaction I want apparently we can't change our view so okay this is it this
is what we got to deal with all right let's run around a big heavy piece of
wood f we effed it okay yeah look at all these dead bodies though what happened
okay looks like our Viking boats crashed on this Shore of sorts and can we gather
these okay that's something I really wish I could change my view I'm gonna
look into changing my view and I'll bring you guys right back okay I give up
can't figure it out let's just play let's do what we got to do we have a
little thing in the top left it says jobs I don't know if we can get to that
or not what is this is just okay we got that
we've got a wood stick what kind of resources are we working with
we've got sticks so far and wood black current deep black and smells good do
they also taste good okay we got some
arrows wood stick got some food possibly more stick more arrows all the
sticks all the arrows that doesn't look good with a head on the pike wood okay
we got all the wood oh but that looks like a log can we get anything oh loot okay so
this is the inventory system it looks like we can take all what is this it's
not for vegetarians is that what it said meat not for vegetarians thanks game
that's funny oh okay here's some of the quests your
friend and shipmate Ingimar are dying to get to Valaheim okay your shipmate
Ingimar lies on the beach arrow shot and dying DIY ING dying okay
he's told you the ship was lured to shore by wreckers bandit to light signal
fires to draw ships to disaster upon the rocks they've looted the wreck and
killed everyone else okay so I think this is a German game actually look at my butt
my butt is on point okay this is a German game so there might be some translation
issues possibly with some of the text but we could still kind of understand
what's going on here this is an easy mission we're gonna accept whatever this
mission is quest started the fires they lift drop on the route to kill the
everyone took everything save your strength my friend I'll fetch help okay
take amulet I'm dying please take my amulet find the holy place and offer it
to the gods that they might welcome me in Valaheim okay so Valaheim sounds
like their heaven I want to drink with my ancestors okay please check the map

is M yeah okay is this gonna be our quest down here
is that it yeah that's the quest enter the Grove of Horgr can we like pinpoint
that at all or do we just have to
there's no map in like our lower corner can we not put that on our let's see
controls user interface map is just M so I guess we can't get that to show up
while we're running around okay that's fine let's see do you want
to collect anything else around here before we head out we got wood that was
under the ground but okay yeah there's some wood can we take this oh we got
just about everything I want to see if there's anything on this ship - oh we
can drink water okay so we got you know the water is salty oh I'm dying
I drink salt water now my water's going down oh did I find any water that I can
drink instead oh this is bad where do we craft things
tools no build is there a fire fire we can like no okay
don't drink the salt water when you begin you'll die straightaway gotcha
so we got our stats in the bottom right hand corner that we're gonna have to
watch for it says press f to drink but no okay shift is to run or do some more
collecting here but we got stone that's new okay we don't really need any more
wood I don't think we could go for some stones rocks equip stone axe or pickaxe
to mine okay we don't have that yet but can we craft that in our inventory
tools do we know anything we don't know anything how to craft abilities coming
soon okay status hunger thirst okay these are we can be bleeding poison
corrupt sick burning raging or drunk my biography I am a monkey Viking man
that's the greatest biography and we can go to quest can we mark them at all no
world quest quest jobs kill boo-boo hey boo-boo we're coming for you
okay so if we look this direction our quest is that away no that away yeah
okay let's see if we can get our first quest done in this first episode and as
you can see in the bottom left the server's chat is up and someone says is
backpack a crafting item I don't know
okay these look like these are player made I think there's beds coming through
the wall this might be made by another player oh oh there's a fireplace maybe
we can cook our stuff press F to open the door close the door
can we do anything with any of this stuff no just interacting with the door
that looks like work in progress okay we have very little stamina what can we do
with the tree harvest equip stone there's a thing there's a goat is that a
rhino up there they look like a rhinoceros assist get some mushrooms
rock can't pick that up how come I can pick up one of the rocks but I can't
pick up these I can pick up stones not rocks hey get some goat oh yeah
come back here okay I'm tired I can't be bothered
we're going to our quests oh there's rabbit there's animals everywhere food
for days hope there's nothing that could kill us I heard something that's a boar
that's what I thought was a rhinoceros - boars are pretty deadly I don't want to
know what happens when I come across that let's get some more mushrooms we're
trying to avoid these boars get some cloudberries I don't know what the
different types of berries are but stay away from me the thing look at our buff dude
I think we did pretty good creating our guy so we need to figure out the water
situation pretty soon maybe this is our look at all these animals why are there
so many animals and is that a fox yeah well okay I don't want to deal with that
either it's like freaking the zoo here
and alright alright but I don't have anything I don't have a spear I don't know how to
craft anything yet I'm just trying to get to my quest
maybe they'll tell me after that I'm going the complete wrong direction we
gotta go this way when we get to the top let's get to the top of this hill and
see if we can figure out the crafting situation also this water might be
freshwater can we drink from this get outta my way stupid deer thatch and fibers yes
got it yay figured out how to get real water don't drink from the sea got it
have you ever punch to goat in the face I have this road might lead us to our
quest yeah this is the road here let's just follow this road oh wait I said we
were gonna look at our crafting stuff but I got distracted by water okay
fibrous plant if we go into our inventory do we have to level up or something is
there like an XP craft something drop items here a stick
okay now things are showing up we need simple but eventually any stone
is going to break needed resources are question mark I'm guessing we need that
can we make this you can make stone arrows that I'm guessing fibers nothing
we can make out of thatch how about fibrous stuff oh yes rope
thread thread can be used to create cloth and stuff I like it thatch and
fibers let's create a rope all the ropes craft
max thread discovered okay so now to put thread in here it'll show us all the
things we need there we go now we can make our stone stuff right cuz we
discovered thread and all that stuff okay let's make a pickaxe craft and axe
craft stone pickaxe discovered uh let's put that on a quick slot and can we make
we need more stone it looks like yeah okay we can get one attached so clay can
we mine this clay okay well we have a pickaxe can we mine this - well okay
mining whoa press f to mine I'm pressing F okay did that put
anything on our inventory it did okay we got some iron ore and some stone what if
we drag more stone over here we can make stone axe no we need more thread we
need more fibers and stuff okay cool cool

our inventory okay can't figure it out yeah this thing's getting out its
Horning me is that what it's called horned I got horned that's a black bear up

out a little bit about crafting system and introduced you to the Valnir Rok
