HIT OR MISS!? FASHION NOVA TRY ON HAUL 2018 | VOL 8 - Duration: 7:38.

JusDesi

Hello gorgeous you want more just subscribe to see all the videos like clothing hauls, hair reviews,

maybe even beauty videos too JusDesi. Hi guys welcome back to my channel if

you're new I'm Desi what's up be sure to hit that subscribe button down

below if you want to see more videos from me today's video is a Fashion Nova

try on haul I haven't been shopping on a Fashion Nova lately because one I'm

gaining weight I mean getting healthy and two I've been trying to save my money

but yet I'm making this video starting with tops I got the wifey crop top

in off-white at first glance it looks like a wife-beater just chopped in half

there's not much to say about this it's a cute basic crop top it's thick I can

tell you that the material is thick I picked this up in a size small and it

was $12.99 the next top that I picked out is called the Camilla short sleeve

top it's just a short sleeve cropped top things get a little spicy on the back

comes with this crisscross detailing on it which was a total surprise to me

because apparently I forgot how to online shop I only looked at the first

picture which was just the front of it and this was just a surprise to me I

thought I was just getting a regular plain crop top but no I picked this up

in a size small and it was $9.99 sticking with crop tops I picked up this

Adele halter top it's just a simple black halter cropped top I really don't know

why I'm buying crop tops like it's not snowing here in Holland it's like my

mind is in America but I'm stuck here I picked this up in a size small and it

was 7.99. the next thing I got was this feel so

good cropped off the shoulder top it's a long sleeve crisscross front crop top

just a fancier crop top I got this because I felt like it would showcase my

broad shoulders really pretty I was right so that's all that matters

I picked this up in a size small and it was $17.99 moving into bodysuits I

got this I'm in love velvet bodysuit in the color champagne first off I freaking

love that it comes in this ice velvet material this is gorgeous it comes with

adjustable spaghetti straps and there's padding in the cups I picked this up in a

size small but I should have got a size extra small I just thought it when you

gain weight some of the weight goes here yeah it does not good thing there's

adjustable straps I pick this up in a size small and it was $27.99 moving into

dresses I picked up this Aliana suede dress in the color dusty pink

it's a suede off-the-shoulder midi dress I freaking love the bottom of this dress

I love that it has this ruffle detail down here this dress it's super

form-fitting but it does have some give in it. I picked this up in a size small and it

was 34.99 the next dress I got is called the Kaitlin suede dress it comes

in this faux suede material with a square neckline and adjustable straps this

dress is gorgeous it's absolutely stunning you hear me I think yellow is

the new wave maybe it's been the wave and I'm just late I picked this up in a size

small and it was $29.99 so I wanted to try out a jumpsuit

since I'm not a stick anymore so I picked up the this season jumpsuit it's

a nasty NASTY NaStY catsuit it comes with adjustable straps and it has

skinny legs at the bottom I was inspired to give this because I'm doing a spring

lookbook and I wanted to do an all pink outfit I kind of got too excited

and posted a picture of me with this on my IG [go follow my socials] I'm really

really loving this jumpsuit it's definitely not for the faint of heart

because when you put this on it hugs your body so much it feels like you have

no clothes on I picked this up in the size small and it was $12.98

So moving into bottoms I picked up the Catalina wide leg slit front pants you guys

these pants are gorgeous. They're a high rise, no stretched, flare leg pant. Theyre also see

through but the back of the see throughness is an invisible zipper I really really

really really wanted to love these. I kind of wish that it was a better

quality pant. I'm not a fan of see-through bottom they're really cute so I guess I

would just work around the fact that they're very see-through I picked these

up in a size small and they were $34.99 so the next pair of pants I got a

called in her element pants in black and white. They're a high-rise wide leg pant I love the

grid print on here it also comes with an elastic waistband to you know suck you in

these pants are so versatile like you can dress this up and you can for sure dress

this down these are made out of some great material they're super comfortable

I picked these up in a size small and they were 32.99

the only pair of jeans I picked out are the perfectly classic white denim jeans

they're just a basic high-rise skinny-leg jeans but in a size five I

know I keep saying this but like I'm gaining weight and my size threes are

getting a little too snug and I still love fashion Nova so they will continue

making my bum look great one thing I will tell you guys is these jeans are a

little see-through so be mindful that I picked these up in the size 5 and they

were $39.99. So moving into skirts I picked up the chosen one and denim skirt it's a

distressed denim skirt I'm bringing you hobo chic the rips on this skirt is

absolutely gorgeous if you're thinking about buying this just do it because

honey this is a gorgeous. I pick this up in the size small and it was $24.99 the

next start that I got is the Ziggy skin tight latex skirt and rose gold

it's a beautiful high waist rose gold midi skirt I love this skirt but it's

kind of hard to put on by yourself so you will need help putting this on and it

kind of smells when you first open it but a good wash would get the smell

right out of it this skirt is extremely form-fitting so if you're thinking about

getting this I will tell you size up I picked this up in a size small and it

was $27.99 finally the last thing that I got is the business casual coat and

off-white is it long sleeve self tie jacket. great quality it kind of

reminds me of a robe I don't have anything in my closet that looks

anything like this so I wanted to give it a try I don't know if I like it yet

but it's there if I ever need it I picked this up in a size small and it

was 36.99 so that wraps up today's video be sure to check out my

description box but everything you mentioned in today's video don't forget

to Like comment and subscribe and I will see you guys in the next you

March Mystery Madness - Duration: 6:08.

Hey guys. Today we're gonna talk about March mystery madness.

Hi, guys. I'm Beth.

Welcome to Read Remark. March is a wonderful month because several

wonderful booktubers are hosting a challenge called March mystery madness.

You can check it out over on Instagram by looking for the hashtag

#MarchMysteryMadness

or you can also look for it here on YouTube by searching, of course,

March mystery madness. No mystery there. You know exactly how to find it. For the

March mystery madness book tube challenge, there are six different targets we're

supposed to hit. We can do whatever we want with those targets. And so those are:

shelf, borrowed, new, historical, foreign, and opposite.

So for my March Mystery Madness

video I'm gonna switch things up a little bit and, instead of straight up

going through the books that I would recommend for each of those targets, I am

going to make you guess what they are, quiz style. That's right! I am presenting

a mystery to you today. Woo!

Alright, so for "shelf" I am going to show you this

book with no author or title. Based on just the book cover alone, you need to

figure out which book this is. I'm gonna give you a couple of hints. Mannerly. Max.

DeWinter. Alright, did you figure it out? It is...

Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier.

This is the lovely book about a second wife who is living in the shadow of the

first wife and not doing it very successfully. It's a wonderful mystery, a

classic mystery written by Daphne du Laurier. Okay so now for "borrowed,"

name this book.

This woman took horrible, horrible revenge after figuring out that

her husband was *borrowing* some other lady outside of their marriage to

fulfill his, err, needs. Which book is it?

Here's a hint. It was made into a movie.

Here's another hint. Every mystery with a conniving woman afterwards has been

compared to it. Did you figure it out?

It's Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.

Yes, Gone Girl. The book that everyone has read and by which every book thereafter

has been compared.

Alright on to question number three, "new." This new book was

recently published and has been compared a lot to Hitchcock's Rear Window.

Which book is it?

Here's a hint. It also has the word "window" in the title.

I think I probably gave it away by now. It is...

The Woman in the Window by AJ Finn.

This is a book with an agoraphobic woman who

watches the neighborhood through the

confines of her own window and thinks that she sees a crime that has been

committed. But she is a very unreliable narrator. So who do we believe?

It's a mystery!

For the "historical" entry, guess which book this is.

Murder happens on

this train full of really interesting odd characters, international interesting

odd characters, during this transcontinental transportation by train.

What is it?

Here's a hint.

It was recently made into a movie that

did moderately well at the box office. That's right! It was ...

Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie.

For the "foreign" entry I present to you a trilogy

of foreign books. It includes a girl who has gotten herself into all sorts of

wacky situations, including obtaining reptilian body art, abusing a hornet's

habitat, and possible arson. So who is it?

You probably guessed as soon as I said

it was a trilogy and foreign. It is...

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy written by Stieg Larsson.

Alright this next one is "opposite" and it's a little

bit of a stretch because I don't know if it was as wildly popular

as some of these other books, but still a highly recommended read that I liked

very much.

Which book is this:

It features twins who are quite opposite.

They're very opposite from each other temperamentally, but they have enough

similar circumstances that they are able to share an understanding. When one

twin dies and leaves a scavenger hunt note for her twin sister, the twin

sister knows immediately that something is up and the twin's death is not all it

was made out to be.

Which book is it?

It involves notes, obviously. It involves a

dead person, obviously. It is...

Dead Letters by Caite Dolan Leach.

Very good book.

Ok, so hopefully this format wasn't too annoying.

Hopefully you were able to get at least a couple right, because if you didn't get

any right then it means that my clue giving skills suck. So don't blame yourself.

It's me.

Thanks for watching. Thanks for bearing with me.

And enjoy March mystery madness month.

I encourage you to seek out other book tubers, check out what

they're doing, and go read you a bunch of mysteries.

Don't forget to like, subscribe,

all of that good stuff, and I will catch you next time.

Thanks for watching. Bye! :)

and then someone put their heavy back on my foot and it was just like I did not

remember why don't eat my house like past a certain time like I can't do the

be a fun little evening and I mean pillar just a little bit early just so

that we can discuss I'm just our future plans really we we

tend to discuss like what we plan to do with our careers and stuff like that and

like put down ideas if we've got any pain points basically what I used to do

squat goals if you ever read that series on my blog and that's basically what

we're doing so yeah so I am ready I'm wearing all black today and if I get a

better mirror I will show you today's outfit but it's nothing exciting

at all and yeah time to go because I need to leave

little white hunting

the first kind of three seconds and yeah that's why I doing obviously strategy is

another part of that so I do strategy mainly with my small business clients

when you're working with a bigger brand you don't necessarily get involved but

basically millennial mentors is all about teaching people creative digital

and business skills also in production just growing and learning from all these

different situations so I hopefully I can then take that into my own kind of

life if I wouldn't start my own business because I've got these skills that I've

learned from working in the team working on these big productions knowing how

things run whether it's the budget whether it's known logistics announcer

Call Me By Your Name, Ending Explained: Don't Cut Away from the Feeling - Duration: 14:12.

Call Me By Your Name ends with a long shot

of Elio staring into a fire,

feeling his pain, and not turning away from it.

The camera likewise refuses to cut away from his face,

making us feel his pain for a long time.

The title comes on,

announcing that this whole film has been a cold open,

a prelude to a realization, and as the credits roll,

we still don't cut away.

It's a bold ending that stays with us.

But throughout this story of young, intense love

between Elio and his father's American graduate student Oliver,

director Luca Guadagnino is following through

on the same philosophy of the closing scene.

The philosophy of not cutting away from our feelings.

Through his camera style

Guadagnino visually makes us feel

what Elio does and he won't let us escape,

especially not when it's uncomfortable.

We can't cut away when Elio is waiting in anticipation

hoping that Oliver will come into his room and he doesn't.

When he's masturbating with the peach

and later when he has to undergo the shame

of Oliver discovering the fruit.

[Oh I see.

You've moved on to the plant kingdom already?]

[What's next, minerals?

You've given up on the animals.]

[You know that's me.]

In the key scene when Elio is finally

trying to admit his feelings to Oliver in the town square,

the camera is uncomfortably far away from the characters,

not cutting in close for the intimate moment we might expect --

just as they're uncomfortably far away from each other,

in a public space for this most private of moments.

[Why are you telling me this?]

[Because I thought you should know.]

[Because you thought I should know?]

Even in his moment of confession,

Elio finds awkward phrases to

tell Oliver how he feels,

without really saying any of the actual words.

[And the distance that is in between them,]

[that is symbolized physically by this monument,]

[is the necessary distance that has to be covered]

[for the two of them to finally be united.]

[Because there is no one else I can say this to but you.]

[Are you saying what I think you're saying?]

So we're included in how excruciatingly hard

this moment is for him,

and because we're there with him,

we remember how hard those moments are for all of us.

Especially when we're young,

especially when it's the first time,

especially when we like someone so much,

with the crazed paralyzing intensity that Elio feels for Oliver.

Throughout the movie,

Guadagnino and his DP use only one 35mm lens.

The limitation of not switching focal lengths

imitates the human eye,

which also can't switch

between different perspectives in the same moment.

So the storytelling is never relying

on glib camera techniques to make us feel.

[Only one lens for everything, for the main titles,]

[for the entire shoot, for the part for the ending,]

[it's one lens.]

[I wanted simplicity, I wanted to be straightforward,]

[I didn't want to create technology in between]

[the camera and the performances.]

The consistent camera visually pins us

in the place of one person who's present.

And this choice subtly builds a very strong emotional impact.

We've never been spared Elio's discomfort,

so near the end,

the pain and the beauty of what he's lived

hits us in a profound, personal way.

As if we are the ones who"˜ve lived it.

The movie also departs from the novel

in some key ways to heighten the immediacy.

First of all, it's set in the present,

whereas the novel is recalling the past --

feelings are influenced by the passage of time

and later developments in Elio's and Oliver's

lives over 20 years.

Screenwriter James Ivory wrote a third-person

voice-over narration into the screenplay,

but the final movie leaves this out.

So the film is grounded in visceral,

visual experience --

how characters look, act, and respond in the moment.

And from that, we have to decode and perceive for ourselves

their unsaid invisible thoughts and feelings.

[I tried to rely on behavior and the physical space]

[where this behavior happens to unfold.]

As a side note, because the movie

doesn't use all the parts of the novel --

that also means we may get more movies about Elio and Oliver.

Guadagnino has said he wants to make sequels.

[He's such an interesting character.]

[To see him grow up and to become maybe a great pianist,]

[and to understand what will be]

[his interest in sexuality he's interesting emotions]

[and how they gonna meet again,]

[Oliver and Elio,]

[all this is very interesting,]

[let alone the fact the book ends with a chapter]

[that is like 40 pages long where you follow]

[the characters for 20 years.]

In the final scene of the film,

the title finally comes up Call Me by Your Name.

Because we're seeing this at the very end,

we're able to contemplate the title

based on everything we've just seen.

And ask why the director chooses not to show it until now.

The phrase again ties in to the "don't-cut-away" theme

of facing our feelings, and ourselves.

[Call me by your name and I'll call you by mine.]

The words are a secret language between Elio and Oliver.

They say it in bed together.

[Elio.]

[Oliver.]

Oliver uses it to give Elio the gift of his shirt.

[For Oliver, from Elio]

And in their final phone call

when Oliver tells Elio he's getting married,

they call each other by their own names once more.

And then Oliver says,

[I remember everything.]

The words "Call me by your name,"

express the way that falling in love

is a mirror into ourselves --

The truest love, this kind that comes around

only once if ever,

is like staring ourselves in the face

in a way that we've probably never done before,

in a way that we can't on our own,

and in a way that for these reasons,

is incrediblely scary.

The momentousness of this explains

why they're so terrified to act for most of the story.

The game of using each other's names

is one way of breaking through the barriers

of their sexual insecurities.

Elio is anxious about exploring his sexuality

for the first time in his life.

Oliver understands his desire better,

but he's trying very hard to repress it.

So as hard as it is for anyone

to admit and pursue a true love,

it's even harder for them because of the context.

[We can't talk about those kinds of things,]

[we just can't.]

The act of calling each other by their own names

takes on even more meaning in this story

because it's set in 1983,

and Oliver feels that he has to get married

and keep up an illusion of heterosexuality.

This moment in their lives,

thanks to the shelter of Elio's accepting parents,

is a rare opportunity to love openly

and not hide themselves.

[...why didn't you give me a sign?]

[I did.]

[When?]

[Remember when we were playing volleyball,]

[and I touched you...]

[Just to show you that I liked you.]

The true self that Elio and Oliver see in each other

is also their best self.

Near the end, Elio tells his father

[I think he was better than me,]

to which his father responds

[I'm sure he'd say the same thing about you,]

[which flatters you both.]

Their relationship is based on a deep and mutual admiration --

a desire to be more like one another.

Elio idealizes the older, more experienced Oliver.

He wants to be like Oliver--

cool, suave, independent,

projecting a happy and carefree persona.

He immediately notices Oliver's

self-assured confidence,

he complaining that the casual signoff

[Later!]

as impolite and arrogant --

but then he imitates it with great joy.

[Just watch, this is how he'll say goodbye]

[to us when the time comes.]

[With his "Later!"]

And he admires Oliver's physical and emotional maturity,

which is understandable as Elio is on the edge of adulthood,

and the movie is a coming-of-age story.

Meanwhile, Oliver wants to be more like Elio,

he sees in Elio the freedom he desires

but feels he can't have.

He admires Elio's musical genius.

[I can't believe you changed it again.]

[I changed it a little bit.]

[Why?]

[I just play the way that Busoni would've played it if he'd,]

[altered Liszt's version.]

[What is wrong with Bach's?]

[Bach never wrote it for guitar.]

[In fact, we're not even sure it's Bach at all.]

[Forget I asked.]

Elio's knowledge and profundity.

[I never even heard of the Battle of the Piave.]

[Battle of Piave was one of]

[the most lethal battles of World War I.]

[Hundred and seventy thousand people died.]

[Is there anything you don't know?]

And he admires Elio's youthful,

unabashed thrill in his sexuality.

Even though he is younger and less experienced.

Elio is the one who acts on their romantic feelings.

And Oliver wishes he had Elio's

open and accepting european family.

[You're so lucky.]

[My father would have carted me off]

[to a correctional facility.]

So over the course of the summer,

Elio and Oliver actually become more each other,

each taking on the characteristics they love in the other.

Calling each other by their own names

is a way of signaling that they're merging,

that they are each other.

Elio starts wearing his own

Star of David after Oliver does.

As we saw he imitates Oliver's "Later!" signoff.

He joins Oliver in his dance

to "Love My Way" after watching him longingly for quite a while.

He wears Oliver's shirt,

and gets into Oliver's shorts and bathing suit.

And he imitates Oliver's mannerism

on more than one occasion before they go for a swim.

Visually, at times, we also see them merging.

In a voiceover in the screenplay

which isn't included in the film,

the narrator says near the end,

"They had become each other that summer."

It goes on to say

"They had found the stars, Elio and Oliver.

And this is given once only."

Call Me By Your Name is the third part

of a trilogy about desire,

with I am Love and A Bigger Splash.

[at the beginning I thought,]

[oh my god, it's another movie]

[about rich foreign people lounging]

[in the Italian summertime.]

[And I really thought that desire in a way]

[is the force that motivates the characters.]

And Guadagnino ends his trilogy

on a note of self-knowledge.

[So I thought the conclusion of trilogy]

[about desire on a sweet note.]

So the title coming up at the end is an affirmation

that Elio, because of what he's felt,

is now fully himself.

In a scene near the end,

Elio's father beautifully articulates the philosophy

that corresponds to the film's

"don't cut away from the feeling" aesthetic --

He tells his son,

[We rip out so much of ourselves]

[to be cured of things faster,]

[that we go bankrupt by the age of thirty.]

[and have less to offer]

[each time we start with someone new.]

[But to make yourself feel nothing]

[so as not to feel anything -]

[what a waste.]

As we the viewers take in this conversation,

feeling by then that

have been through all of this ourselves,

his advice might awaken in us

a renewed determination to face life,

even and especially when it's hard.

[At the end of the movie, yeah I got a Q&A,]

[someone said to me,]

["Oh don't you think it's sad?"]

[No, it's not sad it's actually joyful,]

[because Elio becomes a man.]

So if there's anything this movie teaches us,

it's that when we feel the worst pain of our lives,

don't cut away from that feeling --

because the feeling means we're alive.

[Right now, there's sorrow, pain.]

[Don't kill it,]

[and with it, the joy you felt.]

Hi guys, Susannah here.

We're excited about Guadagnino's plan to do sequels

following Elio over time.

And we've heard this idea being compared

to François Truffaut's series about Antoine Doinel.

A lot of you probably know of The 400 Blows

from 1959.

But Truffaut actually made four sequels

following the same character as he grew up,

all of them starring the iconic Jean-Pierre Léaud.

The series is a great precursor to the character-driven,

episodic TV we know and love today.

So while you're waiting for more Elio,

you can spend a little time getting to know Antoine.

If you're new here, please subscribe

and support us on Patreon if you're able.

Crochet Rocking Horse Tutorial - Duration: 48:56.

Hello everyone, thank you for joining me. I'm Kerri. Today I'll be showing you how

to crochet this rocking horse. Just a quick update from me before we begin. My

mum is having surgery early next week. So I'll be going up to look after my dad

while she's in hospital and then both my parents. So we'll be too busy to design a

new pattern every week. I'll be starting a beginner series and we'll put up an

easy pattern every second week and my usual design on the other weeks.

For the rocking horse I'll be using four ply crochet cotton, but you could use

any ply or wool if you'd prefer. I've got five colors of cotton. I've got my white,

black, two pinks, and a purple. I've got sewing thread and a sewing

needle to stitch it together. I've got scissors, a darning needle to weave in my

ends, a 1.25 millimeter crochet hook, and I've got seed beads to stitch on the

flowers. Now I'll start with the rocking part and my mauve cotton. I make forty-five chain. I've

got a bit of dog fur. My dog is shedding dreadfully at the moment.

I miss the first chain and work one single crochet into each of the next

five chain,

and then work a joined single crochet over the next two chain, and then I repeat

that right across. One single crochet into each of the next five chain and then

a joined single crochet over the following two chain. So I'll work this

row and I'll meet you at the end. Now there's row one finished. For row two I

start with one chain and turn, and work a joined single crochet over the first two

stitches, and then work one single crochet into each stitch until I get to

the last two stitches.

So I'll work along until the last two stitches and I'll be back. Now I've got

two stitches left. Into those two I work a joined single crochet. Now I'm going to

work a neatening row right around both sides. So I start with one chain and work

one single crochet into each stitch.

So I'll work right around the bottom, around the corner and then back along the top

and slip stitch into the chain. So I'll work that and I'll be back.

And there's the rocking piece done. I'll fasten off. I'll start with the head now.

Using my light pink I make a magic loop and work one chain and seven single

crochet into my circle.

I pull the circle tight, and join with a slip stitch.

For row two I work one chain and work one single crochet into each of the next

five stitches.

For row three I start with one chain and turn, and work one single

crochet into each stitch.

For row four I start with one chain and turn, and work one single crochet into

each stitch until the last stitch and I work two single crochet into the last

stitch.

For row five I work one chain and turn, and I work one single crochet into each

stitch until the last stitch, and I work two single crochet into the last stitch.

For row six I work one chain and turn and I work one single crochet into each stitch.

For row seven I work one chain and turn. I work one joined single crochet over the first

two stitches, one single crochet into each stitch until the last two stitches,

and I work a joined single crochet over the last two stitches. For row eight I

work one chain and turn and I work one single crochet into each stitch.

For row nine I work one chain and turn and I work a joined single crochet over the first

two stitches, one single crochet into the next stitch, and then a joined single

crochet over the last two stitches. For row ten I work one chain and turn and I

work one single crochet into each stitch,

and that's the head done. We're going to do a neatening row now. We start with one

chain and then we work one single crochet into each stitch around.

So I'll continue around my neatening row and I'll meet you at the end of the row.

At the end of the row I join with a slip stitch into the chain. Now I'm going to

do the ear. I start with three chain and work a joined double crochet over the same

stitch as the chain and the next stitch,

and fasten off.

For the second ear I start on the stitch before the corner stitch,

and work three chain, and then work a joined double crochet in the same place as the

chain and the next stitch,

and fasten off,

and that's the head done. I'm going to start on this front part of the mane now.

Using my dark pink I start with seven chain. I miss the first chain and work

a slip stitch into the next stitch. I work a single crochet into the

following stitch, and then a half double crochet into the next, and then I slip

stitch into the next stitch, and work four chain. I miss the first chain and work a

slip stitch into the next stitch, a

single crochet in the following stitch, and then a half double crochet into the

next, and then slip stitch into the next chain, and then I work three chain. I

miss the first chain and work a single crochet in the next and then a half

double crochet into the following stitch, and then slip stitch into the last chain,

and fasten off,

and that's the front mane part. That will just stitch in a bit. Now for the body

I'm going to start up under the head, on the neck part. I start with four chain.

I miss the first chain and work a single crochet into each of the

remaining chain.

For row two to four I work one chain and turn and work a single crochet into each

stitch. So three single crochet. That's for rows two to four.

For row five I start with one chain and turn and I work a single crochet into

each stitch, and then I work fifteen chain.

For row six I miss the first chain and work a single crochet into each stitch across.

Once I've worked in all the chain I work

into the neck part, into each stitch. Now rows seven, eight, and nine are worked the same. You

start with one chain and turn and work two single crochet in the first stitch,

and then one single crochet into each stitch to the end. So rows seven to nine,

one chain and turn, two single crochet in the first stitch and then one single

crochet into each stitch to the end. So I'll complete to the end of row nine and

I'll be back. For row ten I work one chain and turn and I work one single crochet

into each stitch to the end.

For row eleven we work one chain and turn, we work a joined single crochet over the

first two stitches, and then one single crochet into each stitch until the last

two stitches,

and we work a joined single crochet over the last two stitches. For row twelve we

work one chain and turn and work one single crochet into each stitch across.

For row thirteen we work one chain and turn, we work a joined single crochet over the

first two stitches, one single crochet over each stitch until the last two

stitches,

and we work a joined single crochet over the last two stitches.

For row fourteen I'm starting on the back leg now. I start with one chain and turn.

I work two single crochet into the first stitch and a joined single crochet over

the following two stitches. For row fifteen I start with one chain and turn. I work a

joined single crochet over the first two stitches and two single crochet into the

next stitch. For row sixteen I start with one chain and turn. I work a joined single

crochet over the first two stitches and two single crochet in the following

stitch. For row seventeen I start with one chain and turn, I work two single

crochet in the first stitch and a joined single crochet over the following two

stitches. For row eighteen I start with one chain and turn, I work a joined single

crochet over the first two stitches and

two single crochet into the following stitch.

For row nineteen I start with one chain and turn. I work a joined single crochet over

the first two stitches and I work another joined single crochet into the

same stitch as the last part of the joined single crochet and the next

stitch. So I've got two stitches left. For row twenty I start with one chain and turn.

I work a single crochet in each of the two stitches. For row twenty-one I start with one

chain and turn and work a single crochet into each of the two stitches, and then

fasten off,

and that's the body and the back leg. For the front leg we join the cotton three

stitches back from the front,

and start with one chain, and a joined single crochet over the first two

stitches, and two single crochet into the next stitch. For row two we start with

one chain and turn and work two single crochet into the first stitch, and a joined

single crochet over the next two stitches. For row three we start with one

chain and turn and work a joined single crochet over the first two stitches, and

two single crochet into the next stitch. For row four we start with one chain and

turn and work two single crochet into the first stitch, and a joined single crochet

over the following two stitches. For row five we start with one chain and turn

and work a joined single crochet over the first two stitches and then another

joined single crochet starting in the same stitch as the last joined single

crochet and then the next stitch. For rows six and seven we work one chain and turn

and work one single crochet into each stitch.

For row eight we work one chain and turn and work one single crochet into each

stitch, and that's the front leg done. We're going to start on a neatening row

now. Now I like to work slip stitches down each side of the legs, just to make

them a bit thinner, but if you'd rather work single crochet that's fine.

So I work a slip stitch into each stitch down the leg.

Now into the first stitch of the tummy part I work a single crochet.

Into the next stitch I work a half double crochet, and then a double crochet

into the following stitch, and then a half double crochet into the next stitch,

and then I continue along the tummy working one single crochet into each

stitch.

Now up the leg I'm going to work a slip stitch into each stitch.

I'm going to work one chain and then work a single crochet into each stitch

along the top of the leg,

and then a chain and then a slip stitch down each stitch of the leg.

Once I get to the top of the leg I'll work single crochets into each stitch up

to the top of the back.

I work a single crochet into the first stitch on the top of the back and then a

half double crochet into the next stitch, one double crochet into each of the

following two stitches, and then a half double crochet into each of the next two

stitches. Now I continue with a single crochet into each stitch around till I

get to the leg and then I'll work a slip stitch into each stitch up to the top of

the leg, and then a chain, and then a single crochet into each stitch. So I'll

work to the top of the leg and then I'll be back. Now I'm up to the top of the leg

so I work one chain and work a single crochet into each stitch across the top

of the leg, and then fasten off,

and there's the body and legs done. For the mane we start with our dark pink with

twelve chain.

We miss the first chain and work a slip stitch into the next chain. We work

a single crochet into the following stitch, a half double crochet into the

next,

and then a double crochet into each of the next two stitches.

Then we work a slip stitch in the second chain from the hook, then five chain, miss

the first and work a slip stitch in the second chain from the hook. A single

crochet in the next stitch, a half double crochet into the following stitch and

then a double crochet into the next. Miss the next of the original chain and work

a slip stitch into the next, then work four chain and work a slip stitch into

the second chain from the hook. A single crochet into the next stitch and a half

double crochet into the following stitch, and then slip stitch into the last of

the original chain, and that's the mane done. I'll fasten off. For the tail I'm

also using my dark pink. I start with fourteen chain.

I work a single crochet in the second chain from the hook, a joined single

crochet over the next two stitches, a

single crochet into the next stitch, a

half double crochet into each of the next six stitches,

a single crochet into the next stitch,

three single crochet into the following stitch,

and a slip stitch into the last stitch, and then work three chain. For row two we

work a slip stitch into the second chain from the hook, and then two single

crochet into the next stitch,

and then one single crochet into each of the next two stitches. I'm now working

back along the main part, and a half double crochet into each of the next six

stitches.

A single crochet into each of the next two stitches and a slip stitch in the

next stitch, and then one chain and turn, and then we work a slip stitch in the

second chain, the second stitch from the hook. A single crochet in the

following stitch, a half double crochet in the next stitch and then one double

crochet into each of the next four stitches.

Two half double crochet into the next stitch, one half double crochet in the

following stitch, a single crochet into the next and then a slip stitch into

each of the next two stitches,

and fasten off,

and that's the tail finished. For the saddle I'm using my mauve and I start

with eight chain. I miss the first chain and work one single crochet into each stitch.

Now rows two and three are worked the same, one chain and turn and one single

crochet into each stitch.

For row four we work one chain and turn and work a joined single crochet over the

first two stitches, and then one single crochet into each stitch until the last

two stitches and a joined single crochet over the last two stitches, and that's

the saddle. We're going to do a neatening row of one chain and one single crochet

into each stitch around.

So I'll just continue around and I'll meet you at the end. At the end of the row I

slip stitch into the chain and fasten off. I'll do the saddle strap and the

bridle when I'm making my rocking horse up. So that's a saddle. For the hoof

I join with my black in the first stitch at the end of the leg, and I work three

chain. I work one double crochet in the same place as the chain and then one

double crochet into each stitch across,

and fasten off,

and the other hoof will be worked the same. If you'd like the flowers you start

with a magic loop, and work one chain and one single crochet into the circle. Then

we work three chain and a single crochet into the circle and we repeat that three

more times. Three chain and a single crochet,

and then we work three chain. Pull the circle tight,

and slip stitch in the first chain,

and fasten off,

and that's the flower. I'll just weave in my ends, crochet another hoof and three

more flowers and I'll be back and we'll put it together. Now the first thing I'll

do is embroider on the nostrils and the black part of the eyes. Now I've stitched

the nostrils and the outer eyes on. Now I'm going to do the bottom part of the

bridle. I've got my mauve cotton and I'll make about twelve chain.

I just need enough for it to go across and just wrap around slightly. So that looks

like enough, so I'll fasten off.

So I'll stitch that on there. I'll also stitch the front mane part on there and

I'll put the little white dots on the eyes. For the second part of the bridle

I'll need about nine chain.

Now I'll weave in the one end and it will attach just on top of the other part of

the bridle, and I'll stitch it up and round behind the ear. Now the head's

finished. I'll now attach it to the body, just about there, and using beads

I'll also attach three flowers to the rocking piece. One in the center and one

each end. Now I've made a strip of ten chain in mauve for the saddle strap. I

just stitch it around like that and weave in my ends and then I'll stitch

the saddle over the top, just center it and then bend it back over the horse's

back. I'll also stitch on the tail. You attach

it by the little end piece there. I just put a few stitches just across there

and flip it over. Now I attach the mane in behind the

horse's head and down the neck. It starts just behind the ear and down

almost to the saddle, and I'll also attach the other flower to the tail, just

in there. And the last thing I do is attach the horse to the rocking piece.

Just evenly in there, and there's the finished rocking horse. I've also made it

in two other colors. If you liked my video please like, subscribe, and share. I'm also

description below along with details on my website. I have all my patterns up on

Toronto Real Estate Market Update March 2018 - Duration: 3:37.

- Hello Toronto I'm Chris Cucoch and this is

your Toronto Market Update for March 2018.

We're gonna go through three things today.

First I'm gonna give you a bird's eye view

of what's going on in the GTA market as a whole,

then we're gonna dive down a little deeper

in the Toronto specific micro markets.

That's the detach, the semis, the townhouses

and the condos.

Finally, three, I'm gonna bring it all together

and tell you exactly what it means for you.

So I know you've been seeing some scary headlines

in the news recently and the most recent one was

GTA real estate down by 35%.

So I'm gonna go ahead and address that first.

Let's take a look at this chart and see

what's really going on.

February of this year we had 5,175 sales

which that number is down 35%, but you have to keep

in mind that February of last year was by far

the craziest February we've ever had.

But if you look at the months of inventory at 0.7

it really makes sense why everything went so crazy.

This year we have a much healthier 2.6.

Average sale price on the board this month was 768,000

which is down 12% over last year but if you go back

even two years, over February of 2016 it's actually up 12%.

Let's take a look at the micro markets now.

In February the average price of a detached home

in the city of Toronto was 1.28 million dollars.

That's down 18.5% from last year's crazy highs.

Now a semi detached home in the city of Toronto

the average price was $986,000, that's down 9.2% from

last year.

Now in the 416 the cost of a townhome was $776,000

in the month of February.

That's up 15.7% and finally a condo apartment, the

average price was $570,000 which was up 10.6%

from the same month last year.

As usual I think the months of inventory tell the story

this month so let's take a look at those now.

At the end of the month of February in the city

of Toronto we had 2.8 months of inventory in the detached

market, quite a bit higher than the rest of the markets

as you can see the semi and the townhouse market

have 1.7 months each and the condo market again

was the hottest market in the city, at 1.6 months

of inventory.

So what does all this mean?

Well number one, condos are hot right now.

We're finding that the supply is low, the demand is high

and we're seeing multiple offers on pretty much every condo,

especially in the downtown corridor.

I think it has a lot to do that it's one of the most

affordable kinds of housing you can buy right now.

Number two the semis and the towns are not as hot

as the condos but they're definitely creeping up there.

But they're a little bit closer to a balanced market,

there's a little more supply there's a little less demand

for them.

The detached definitely encroaching balance market

territory they're getting almost to 3 months of inventory.

I think especially in the higher end detached homes

you're going to begin seeing even some downward pressure

on pricing.

I've prepared another chart to show you what happened

over the last year to get us to where we are now.

And what I suspect will happen over the next few months.

Let's take a look at it now.

In the early part of last year we clearly had a boom

with prices shooting up,

which was followed by a steep bust after the middle

of April when the new rules came out.

Through the summer and into the fall we experienced

a consolidation and now we have stability.

We've been trading within a fairly narrow

band for the last four or five months.

That's all for today.

Arasaka - Cyberpunk 2077 Megacorps Lore - Duration: 9:57.

Greetings Earthlings!

Welcome to the MadQueen show!

I am your host the MadQueen

On today's menu we have a new Cyberpunk 2077 lore video for you, and today we're

going to talk about the Megacorporation Arasaka

If you want it protected, these are the people to speak to

They maintain the largest armed force of any corporation, although they do not maintain

a particularly large amount of on-hand military heavy weapons

These troops are mostly licensed out to other firms as corporate security guards, couriers, and mercenaries

When people think in Arasaka, the mental image they have is their guards dressed in black

like ninjas that are employed by so many corporations, companies and powerful individuals around the world

Even when the guards are not present, Arasaka's logo is pretty prominent in a lot of weapons,

computers and other security equipment in many companies

They are the best trained and hardest in the business and will follow their client's

orders second only to Arasaka himself

To the Arasaka corporation, they are loyal to the point of death

Arasaka is more interested in fostering its own political goals than protecting other

companies, and they use their position of trust with major corporations around the world

to gain inside information, contracts, and advantages that will help them to realize

their ultimate goal of political and economic control of Japan and the rest of the world

Arasaka was a small family company until the persistent genius Saburo Arasaka took control

of it in the 60s

As Japan lost the war, the country was forced into an adaptation of openness to the Western

economy that Saburo Arasaka knew how to transform into power for his company

He started to accommodate the ideals of the Arasaka Corporation to his own ideals, and

he was reluctant to accept being only a financial power, so to fulfill his goal of making Japan

the first military and economic potency of the world he would need a certain invisible

political control over his country and the rest of the world

To do so, he knew that information was key to the power in the modern world, so to obtain

such information freely and easily he created the Arasaka Security Division, specialized

in highly qualified personnel for electronic, computer and security protection

In some years, Arasaka built an excellent reputation as the biggest company in its class

In the 90s, Arasaka security was employed by the most powerful people and corporations

around the globe, and their intrusion countermeasures and computer security became the example for

other companies, even the European Net Watch

Soon, the Security division of Arasaka was one of the three most powerful holdings of

Arasaka, matched only by Arasaka Bank and Arasaka Manufacturing

Saburo Arasaka's obsession with study helped him forecast the crash of the 94 and the collapse

of the 96, and thanks to his twisted schemes and financial investments Arasaka was one

of the very few corporations that actually benefited from the collapse

It was a big corporation before that happened, but after the collapse, Arasaka became one

of the biggest Megacorporations in the world

Let nothing stop you

With the new Zetatech Bodycomp 6Z PRO

you'll be in total control of your cyberware

and always ready for action!

Zetatech

Feel the difference

The world that followed the collapse, without regulations

that left the governments of the world in the uncomfortable position of having to

let the corporations do pretty much what they pleased, created the empire of Arasaka: in

1997 Arasaka Security got into the business of paramilitary contracting and started to

train one of the first corporative armies of the planet

These were ruthless times when Arasaka destroyed or absorbed as many rivals as it could and

acquired any nonrival company that Saburo thought would be useful

From 1997 until 2077 Arasaka kept diversifying and getting stronger

Its main branches still are Arasaka Bank, Arasaka Security, and Arasaka Manufacturing

Arasaka Security is living one of its best moments

in the tempestuous seas of ruthless corporative competence of 2077

That's the opinion you will have if you watch Network News 54

Because

Kei Arasaka, the son of Saburo Arasaka,

was trapped by the soul killer program at the end of the 4th Corporte War

And his whereabouts are not known yet

Arasaka is not the only company offering security services but it's the biggest and most respected,

with guards that range from the desk guard hardly enhanced to armored cyborgs

They are also a very popular security choice for celebrities, in some circles, it's very

chick to have a very attractive Arasaka bodyguard, and some Rockerboys and Braindance celebrities

are never seen without a couple of them

The security branch of Arasaka also offers police services, they are hired by cities

who don't have enough resources or are too corrupt to work efficiently, like in Belfast or Philadelphia

Sometimes, Corporations that offer police services are not paid with money but with

influence in political decisions on that zone, land or properties, or free transportation

or other rights like security control of zones surrounding corporative premises

Arasaka Manufacturing is the other very impressive branch of this Megacorporation

In one hand they have the not exactly modest business of manufacturing goods that range

from parts for commercial reactors, medical supplies or toys, usually sold with a generic

brand instead of displaying Arasaka's logo

But the big eurobucks of manufacturing are into the arms and security equipment division

Currently, Arasaka makes the best personal and corporative security equipment you can

find, defense and security computers, light weapons and non-lethal

They also create personal armor of several types and various models of vehicles

They may not as big in arms dealing as other corps like Militech, but they know the business

Arasaka Bank is, without doubt, their most shady branch

This branch has proved to be a great tool in the search of the influence of Arasaka:

many corporations and people with the water up to their necks gave Arasaka key information

or made favors of questionable nature for this corporation as a "token of gratitude"

for a key investment or a grant

Apart from that, the Bank is also a great part of their money laundering system and

a great tool to cover their relation with puppet corporations and to cover the actions

of their "black ops": the department of Arasaka Security specialized in extractions,

that is how corporative kidnap is called in 2077, assault assassination, and blackmail

The clever direction of Arasaka corporates and a little bit of private influence keep

Arasaka's illicit activities out of governmental scrutiny, and also

Lil Yachty: BEST Verses - Duration: 6:49.

Hey guys, this is CDTVProductions and welcome to a new episode of Best Verses on Lil Rhubarb

Hair.

Now Lil Tomato Dreads is a rapper I have mixed feelings on because I loved the first Lil

Boat tape, but I felt much less warm towards the second one.

However, he still does have some verses that are actually pretty good.

So with that being said, this is CDTVProductions and let's get right into the video.

Clip: Lil Yachty "For Hot 97" (Verse 1)

Now most of the time I hate when Yachty tries to make a hard ass rapping track, but he does

a good enough job here that I like it.

It has a decent story behind it too.

This verse came after Yachty did a kinda funny but also awkward freestyle on Hot 97, which

led to the hosts there having a conversation with him about how his bars aren't the best.

Yachty admitted in that interview he doesn't take rapping seriously, even though he seems

to want to prove the opposite here, but nonetheless he put out this track.

Yeah the bars aren't amazing here, but they're alright and there's less cringe worthy lines

than usual.

Nothing on the level of "she blow that dick like a cello".

Not to mention his flow is solid here, it's usually awkward and stilted when he tries

to rap, so I appreciate that it was smoother here.

Also whilst we're talking about it, I've seen Tech N9ne take shots at Hot 97 recently,

so I wonder if this is gonna become more of a thing.

Clip: Calvin Harris "Faking It (feat.

Lil Yachty & Kehlani)" (Verse 3)

Interestingly, these are the types of songs I like Yachty on, for the most part.

Recently he's been doing pretty well on these more poppy, mainstream songs, and he

brings a ridiculously catchy verse for this collab with Calvin Harris and Kehlani.

His flow just runs perfectly on the bounce of the instrumental, and I was surprised by

how on point the flow was here.

Hell, I think Kehlani is a fantastic singer, and does really well on here, and I still

mainly listen to this track for Lil Boat.

It's got a little bit of emotion behind it, and Yachty shows his goofy charm on this

track which is what he does best.

Really enjoyed this verse a lot.

One of my favourites on here.

Clip: Post Malone "Monta (feat.

Lil Yachty)" (Verse 2)

This is such a feel good verse and I absolutely love it.

Yachty comes with some incredibly dope melodies here, possibly some of the nicest melodies

I've ever heard Yachty sing.

Yes "they big as a toe and sh**" is maybe the laziest comparison ever made, but it doesn't

even irritate me on this track cause Yachty provides such a happy verse here.

Very cool collab between him and Post Malone.

Clip: Lil Yachty "Momma" (Verse 2)

Alright alright, call me a big soft boy, big softie CDTV, but I think this verse is pretty

cute.

As the title implies, Yachty dedicates this song to his momma, and it makes for one of

the best tracks on Teenage Emotions.

I know that's not exactly an achievement, it's like being the smartest brain cell

in Lil Pump's head, there's not much competition, but I think this would still make for a good

track even on one of Yachty's stronger projects.

Yachty tells us about repaying his mother for all the love she gave him by buying her

a new, new car and new jewellery.

It's nice to hear how much of his success he wants to share with her and it sounds like

they have a really great relationship.

I never thought I'd say this, but we got a genuinely heartwarming track from Yachty

with this one.

Clip: Carnage "Mase In '97 (feat.

Lil Yachty)" (Verse 2)

Now whenever Yachty is rapping, it doesn't exactly harbour the best results, as shown

by his Lil Boat 2 album.

However this is one of the rare examples where his execution is actually pretty solid.

I chose the second verse over the first one because I feel the first one was a bit awkward

flow wise, but the second one is actually quite nice.

There's not even really any cringey lyrics on the second verse, and there's some amusing

little lines.

It's probably the hardest verse Yachty has rapped, and I like the urgent feeling that

the song has with Yachty's frantic delivery.

People will usually point to this as an example of Yachty rapping well, and I can't argue

with that.

Clip: Chance the Rapper "Mixtape (feat.

Young Thug & Lil Yachty)" (Verse 3)

I mean Chance the Rapper, who this song is by, said that this his favourite verse from

Chance's own project.

That's some pretty high praise, and I could see why he would say it.

It's definitely one of Yachty's best Verses hence it being on here.

The beat is suited really well for Yachty's voice, he flows so smoothly, and I thought

the line "now I spend more than they make at my dentist" was a fairly creative way

for Yachty to brag about his success.

Although I would have to say, I think Logic and even Chance himself also care about cover

art, even though you do also have very aesthetically pleasing cover art yourself Yachty.

Overall it's one of Yachty's strongest verses and his singing actually strikes me

as passionate at points during this.

Nice verse.

Why You're NOT Immune from Traffic Crashes | Crash Analysis Smart - Duration: 20:48.

Hi there smart drivers. Rick with Smart Drive Test talking to you tonight about

crashes. This is the PowerPoint presentation that was supposed to go

with Sunday's live feed - smart Sunday number 28. so we're gonna do the

PowerPoint presentation.

[INTRO & MUSIC]

Hi there smart drivers. Welcome back. Rick with Smart Drive Test talking to

you today about crashes, the reasons for crashes, the historical evolution of car

crashes over the 20th century and into the 21st century. I'll be talking about that and

giving you the top reasons why we have traffic crashes. How they have

moved into the second spot of reasons why people die... in our sort of first

world countries, and I use that term loosely. And then some of the advances in the

technological and medical science advancements that have been made that

have reduced the number of traffic fatalities and we'll talk about why

maybe that isn't such a good thing now just before we get started here if

you're new to smart drive test smart drive test helps new drivers get a

license regardless of class veteran drivers to remain crash free and CDL

drivers to start a career as a truck or bus driver so if you're new here hit

that subscribe button as well hit that Bell that will get instant notification

when they get the videos up for you so without further ado let's head over to

the PowerPoint presentation car crashes so one of the things that

we're all familiar with is crash test dummies there's even a band name - crash

test dummies and they have given safety ratings to new vehicles and tell

consumers which vehicles are safer than other vehicles and this was really

driven the sale of vehicles because it's at the foremost of consumers minds in

terms of what vehicles they buy whether they're safe or not especially for those

that have families they're looking for vehicles that are safe and get high

crash ratings one of the other things as driven sales of SUVs particularly kind

of a historical overview of cars and in the OPEC oil crisis in early 1970s for a

decade and a half that changed the how big cars were they became much

smaller and then into the 1990s when all of that began to recover and fuel wasn't

a concern anymore the SUV's became a big sale in terms of the types of vehicles

that we purchased because they were bigger vehicles and the auto

manufacturers marketed them as a way that you were going to survive a traffic

crash so this is why we have a lot of SUVs in those types of things and

interesting enough in the 1960s safety ratings were not something that auto

manufacturers thought they could sell and now we look 50 60 years later down

the road and safety features are very much at the forefront of what drives

consumers to purchase vehicles is that they have to be safe so for those of you

who are new to smart drive test and don't know me my name is Rick August I

was a truck driver through most of the 1990s that became a driving instructor a

commercial driving instructor in 1997 my expertise as air brakes and truck

driving mostly I did Drive bus in Australia when I was there for a year

for Greyhound and as well I drove for the regional v-line bus company as well

which has just hooks up the local train where it has gaps and they transport

passengers obviously between the different train stations I did earn a

doctorate from the University of Melbourne in legal history legal history

for those of you don't know is the study of policing courts and prisons and my

expertise is in policing specifically as it relates to traffic so that's my

background and I've been a licensed driving instructor here in British

Columbia since 2008 and I still AM and I do have a driving school here in the

province as well but I don't really teach people in vehicle most of my stuff

is all done online this week's vehicle was how to do a

u-turn I got that video up and four licensed drivers passenger vehicle

drivers who were going for a road test how to do a u-turn is step-by-step

instructions about how to do a u-turn at conventional intersections

t-intersections on busy roadways and on highways that shows you how to do all of

that and gives you reasons why you turns are not part of the driving call

here in British Columbia because there are a lot of prohibitions against

u-turns so just leaving a comment down in the comment section there for those

of you and tell me whether you turns a part of your driving culture so traffic

crash deaths interesting enough from the twentieth century at the beginning of

the 20th century at the end of the 1900s war famine and disease were the number

one killers of people in the world by the beginning in a hundred years later

at the beginning of the 2000s suicide traffic crashes and terminal illness are

now the number one killers of people in as I said first world countries and I

use that term loosely and in most countries in the world the United States

and Canada Australia and Britain Europe other places in the world if you took

all of the traffic crashes and put all of the traffic crashes in one place at

one time it would be declared a national emergency that's how many people are

killed injured and maimed in traffic crashes every year and you can see that

it came to public attention as early as 1924 I found this drawing in the London

Free Press when I was doing work on history there in the early 2000s at the

University of Western Ontario and you can see the figure of war handing the

troffer trophy to the automobile driver who's characterized as Japanese oddly

enough with it which is even funnier by the fact that in the 1980s and 1990s

Japan went on to become very much the auto manufacturers to beat and still are

in this day and age producing quality vehicles but the other thing that this

epitomizes is just a quick history lesson here was the fear that white

people had of the Japanese because the Japanese had defeated the Russians in

the 1904 Japanese rusa war which is the first war that Asians defeated a white

nation which really sort of you know spurred xenophobia in the world and then

of course this would go on and we'd have the awful event of the Holocaust in

during the Second World War so there's a lot going on in this image here but

essentially what it needs to show is is that the automobile killed injured and

me more people than soldiers sent to war we're talking about world war one world

war two Korean the Vietnam War and all the other wars in the world so the

number of deaths attributed to traffic crashes are a lot all of us know

somebody unfortunately who has been involved or killed in a car crash my

niece and 20 in 2006 was killed in a car crash and it was very devastating to the

whole family Princess Diana is probably one of the most famous deaths of

somebody killed in a car crash James Dean was killed in a car crash and this

is a picture of his speeding ticket that he received only hours before he was

killed in a in a traffic crash for those of us here in Canada that know about Tim

Hortons the doughnut shop the very famous doughnut shop some of us jokingly

say that Tim Hortons is next to patriotism here in Canada and then of

course in a very ironic traffic crash death Paul Walker the one of the stars

of The Fast and the Furious movie franchise which was all about cars fast

cars and souped-up cars racing in the quarter-mile and street racing he was

riding in a car as a passenger with his financial advisor and was killed and

killed in a car crash no one is immune to traffic crashes and this is the point

that I want to make is is that we all ride in cars and we're all susceptible

to being injured maimed or killed in a car crash and interesting enough if we

were hurt or injured on a horse or we were injured on a bicycle or we were

injured or killed on are not killed obviously but injured on a motorcycle

none of us would get back on one of those things how we're we're injured in

a car crash when we go to the hospital and we have some time to comp less and

then we get out of the hospital first thing we do is we get back in a car it's

it's very strange and the way that that happens in our world you know

interesting enough different studies around the world in terms of car crashes

have determined that most car crashes the highest number of car crashes do not

happen in the winter time they do not happen in bad

driving conditions most of them happen in clear weather on drive roads and the

driver is sober and the vehicle is mechanically fit and most of the car

crashes believe it or not happen in the summertime most of us in the northern

hemisphere they happen in July June July and August and those of you in the

southern hemisphere they happen in late December January February and early

March is when the most number of car crashes are which is counterintuitive to

what most people think and the first time I was asked that question I went

well it's got to be in the winter in everything but it's not true it's it's

in the summer so that's when most crashes happen there are twice the

number of traffic crashes in city areas in in urban areas but there are twice

the number of fatalities in rural areas even though there are less crashes and

there's a number of reasons attributed to the fact that there are more

fatalities in rural areas than there are in urban areas first of all somebody has

to find you if one of you isn't conscious in the vehicle if one of the

occupants isn't conscious in the vehicle you have to be awake to be able to call

emergency services second of all emergency services have to respond to

you and you're often a long way from emergency services and up until the

advent of GPS and and tracking devices and whatnot it was difficult to find the

specific location of car crashes I mean that's getting a little better with GPS

and other technology and those types of things and it is easier to transport you

to hospitals and whatnot in terms of Hall helicopters and whatnot the other

interesting thing about most crashes that occur in rural areas is that these

are single vehicle crashes and there are a number of reasons why we have single

vehicle crashes and I'll talk a little further about that a little more about

that in another slide here actually no that was right on single vehicle crashes

the number one reason for a lot of the single vehicle crashes people are

intoxicated they are either drunk or they've been taking illegal substances

or drugs or prescription medication and those types of things and again I come

back to that point of intoxication most intoxication happens because of

prescribed medication and over-the-counter medication not because

of illegal illegal drugs other people single vehicle crash that people fall

asleep they're driving too on country roads and those types of

things and they strike a fixed object or go into the ditch or hit a tree or those

types of things so they're most of the reasons cannot be figured out why the

crash happened we have a general overview of why these crashes happen but

most of these single vehicle crashes the reasons are not attributable to why the

it happened but most of the time it's intoxication or fatigue or the person

fell asleep at the wheel which is obviously fatigue and or the person was

speeding so those are the top reasons for crashes and single vehicle crashes

and crashes in the country and what not top three reasons for crash is speeding

failing to yield and following too close these are the three reasons people are

going too fast they're failing to give the right-of-way to other road users or

they're following too close as you can see these two cars in the center lane

here they're simply following too close there's no reason for that black card to

be that close to those other two vehicles so if you manage the space

around your vehicle and you drive in the spaces between the vehicles you're going

to reduce the chances of you being involved in a traffic crash so that's

one of the things you can do is manage the space around your vehicle now I did

touch a little bit on intoxication when single vehicle crashes in the late

1960s drinking and driving I mean those were very much part and parcel of our

culture the police implemented anti drink driving laws and the late in the

early 1970s implemented that we had to wear seatbelts and a generation later

most of us are wearing seatbelts seat belt use is about 96 percent now and you

know but we're leading up to 2020 here young people drinking driving dating and

distracted driving and I mean distracted driving is huge now with cellphones and

those types of things and I'm certainly see that it wasn't something that came

down the pike drink driving laws are changing as well to try and combat that

problem but I don't think that we're combating that problem I mean here in

British Columbia the snow is beginning to melt if you go down and drive along

the highways when the snow snow melts here in another week or two out of the

ditches you'll see the number of beer cans and liquor bottles and those types

of things in so I don't think that the campaign against drink driving is

winning in any sense imagination now one of the things that

Australia does well that we in North America do not do well is their

campaigns against fatigue and driving tired and they have huge campaigns

against driving tired and there are a lot more rest areas in Australia on

roads and those types of things and I mean maybe in the country where you live

because obviously some of the countries I haven't been to but do they have an

awareness about driving tired leave a comment down in the comment section

there and just let me know if there's an awareness about driving tired because

there have been studies done about that there you know the the research that's

beginning to come out about how dangerous is to drive tired is beginning

to give us some idea of that but you need to be aware in terms of driving

tired that there's two times of the day that you're going to be tired sort of 1

to 5 in the afternoon and 1 to 5 in the early morning those are the two sort of

dangerous times because we all have a biologic clock a biological clock we all

have circadian rhythms and those are the times that we get tired and if you're

driving during those times of the day try not to eat a big meal because

that'll again make you more tired and some of the ways that you can combat

fatigue if you do absolutely have to of course the number one reason is to pull

over and get a bit of sleep but if you're eating or talking to somebody

else that'll help to combat some of the fatigue vehicle safety features this is

one of the other thing that has reduced the number of fatalities in terms of car

crashes crumple zones most of the cars now when when they've been in a crash

they look like they're completely destroyed they're designed to do that

and it absorbs the energy of the crash to protect the occupants in the vehicle

safety glass and the windshield breakaway steering columns breakaway

steering columns came from the study by Ralph Nader who is a former US

presidential candidate he also wrote a book called unsafe at any speed which is

in the early 1960s and he specifically took aim at the Chevrolet Corvair and

one of the problems with the Chevrolet Corvair was it did not have a breakaway

steering column and even in minor crashes on a front impact the steering

column would come into the occupant of the passenger compartment push up

underneath the driver's neck and snap their neck and kill them in a minor car

crash so that was one of the takeaways of that study was that we had

breakaway steering columns in vehicles we also implemented mandatory seat belt

use and airbags and one of the other things in this picture is saitm impact

bars but I can tell you that side impact bars do not work there's just not enough

strength in those bars to be able to cope with the shear forces in a t-bone

crash and again I'll put a card up in the corner for you here on the video on

t-bone crashes and why t-bone crashes are so dangerous so I have a look at

that as well finally the last thing that has reduced the number of traffic

fatalities is advances in medical science and most of these advances in

medical science came out of the Vietnam War especially as it relates to trauma

and emergency crews know that if they have a serious injury of a person in a

car crash or some other accident that the first hour is absolutely crucial to

getting that person to medical services and getting them into surgery if they

can get that person to a hospital and into emergency services within the first

hour there is a high chance of that person being able to recover from that

kind of accident and it's called the golden hour and the 60 minutes that they

have to get the person into surgery and have to get that person surgery and that

way that person will survive now one of the other things is that came out of

this and I wrote an article about this and said that yes there are less traffic

deaths and more people are surviving traffic crashes but the problem is this

is the quality of life what is the quality of life these people have after

the traffic crash are they injured do they have some sort of debilitating

injury that's going to cause them to have a reduced quality of life for the

rest of for the remainder of their natural life so maybe this is a good

thing maybe it's not a good thing because some people are you know living

with injuries from a car crash for the rest of their life whereas prior they

would have just died and I know that's a pretty callous thing to say

but I mean leave your thoughts down in the comment section there we can have a

discussion about it to know whether you know

you know is it better it is definitely better because we are definitely a lot

of people are surviving correct with car crashes that at one time they wouldn't

have survived so those are some of the reasons for car crashes and some of the

awareness around car crashes and sort of a historical overview of car crashes so

a quick review of car crashes over the 20th century car crashes killed injured

and made more people than soldiers sent to war so they have been devastating

they still are devastating we're still having the same number of crashes today

and same number of injuries resulting from car crashes as we did 50 or 60

years ago unfortunately people are still driving intoxicated they're driving

drunk and now we have distracted driving which is adding to the complexity of

driving yes we have more safety features and Road engineering features that are

actually saving people in advances in medical science and all those types of

things are reducing the number of fatalities but we're still having the

same number of injuries unfortunately we all know somebody who's been involved in

a car crash is living with injury due to a car crash so know that car crashes are

dangerous unfortunately we get lulled into a false sense of safety in our

vehicles because our vehicles are a very personal space and they have lots of

safety features on them that do protect us but we're still susceptible to car

crashes and know that most car crashes are not going to happen in climate

weather most car crashes are going to happen on dry roads on clear days and

most often very close to home so know that as well know the fact that although

there are twice the number of car crashes in urban areas there are twice

the number of fatal car crashes in rural areas and most of the reasons for these

car crashes being fatal in rural areas is because your distance to emergency

services getting to hospitals the emergency crews finding you yes we have

GPS and those types of things that help out and whatnot and I mean if you have a

single vehicle crash in a rural area you may be unconscious and not be able to

contact emergency services and whatnot so that's the other issue is somebody

getting in contact or somebody actually finding you and whatnot so that's kind

of an overview of traffic crashes and some of the things you could keep in

mind when you're driving that might help you to reduce the risk of being involved

in a traffic crash question for my smart drivers
