Waching daily Mar 2 2018

The Sims 4.

Man, this and Skyrim are like the cockroaches of games in recent years.

I keep forgetting it exists, then every so often it scurries out from the darkness and

people are either excited or confused.

Sometimes both, like how you can dress up in Sims 4

llama costumes in Final Fantasy XV now.

Mmkay.

And then there's the topic of the day, Jungle Adventure,

the sixth game pack for The Sims 4.

Once again it costs $20 and once again it's bringing back a slice of gameplay from The

Sims 3, specifically the world adventuring from World Adventures.

But as you might guess from the title, it's no longer a world you're adventuring within,

but a single jungle and a single adventure.

As is Sims 4 tradition, this pack snatches an idea that players enjoyed in the past and

whittles it down until it fits into the game's more limited framework.

And I don't exactly blame them either, since the cutting-down approach certainly worked

for Cats & Dogs if the crazy sales numbers are any indication, currently being the highest-selling

expansion pack to date.

So let's see how the approach works for Jungle Adventure!

As always you get some new clothing and hair straight away.

And it's about what you'd expect for a pack geared towards hacking your way through

dense plant life and getting tourist-wasted in cantinas: pith helmets, colorful shirts,

vests, and pants, a new tattoo, a few new hairstyles, and some hiking shoes.

Well, at least when it comes to adults.

Kids and toddlers don't get much of anything, beyond a hat and a couple shirts.

I was also hoping they might add a few more outfits or accessories for pets, since after

all, you can take your pet along as a jungle companion.

But nope, nothing.

Whatever though it's time to take a trip to some jungles, and to do that you whip out

your phone and opt to take a vacation.

This can be from one to seven days, or even longer if you

choose to extend your stay once you're there.

The land you'll be exploring is Selvadorada, a fictional mishmash of Central and South

American cultures that's blended together to make a new

world divided into two main sections.

There's the Puerto Llamante Marketplace and the Belomisia Jungle, the latter of which

contains several hidden lots that are only accessible if you go "adventuring!"

Your adventure commences by renting a place to stay and then

trekking out to visit the Belomisia Trailhead park.

Once you're there you'll see a sign that warns you some bad crap might happen and you

may want to take precautions, but this is The Sims so there's nothing stopping you

from clawing at thorny vines with your bare hands.

This is not advised however, so it's a good idea to wander into town and visit the marketplace.

This is a small collection of food and vendor stands that pop up every so often during certain

hours, much like the festivals in the City Living pack.

So you've got a food truck for trying out some local cuisine, and a few tables with

various items for sale that will be vital to surviving the jungle.

Be sure to check both the vendor items menu and the objects laid out on the tables, because

while the former stays the same the latter will change each time you visit.

With a machete in-hand you can start slicing into the overgrowth.

Oh and it might also help to use a sim with the new Jungle Explorer aspiration, because

why not get some extra reward points with your jungling.

After you've killed more vines than Twitter in 2016 you can pass through the newly-cleared

gateway, which provides you with one of those little "choose your own adventure" type

pop-ups that The Sims 4 likes to use in place of having

something awesome play out with your actual sims.

Depending on your choice and whether or not you have a specific item or skill, you'll

get a reward or a punishment like an item or a emotional buff, and you're teleported

to a new part of the map.

Welcome to the jungle!

We've got fun and games.

We've got everything you want, as long as what you want is to methodically whip the

camera around looking for something shiny to click on.

There are trees and plants with fruit and berries, including avocados, black beans,

and a tree that grows berries to instantly change your

sims' emotions because of course there is.

After all, what's a new Sims 4 pack without another slightly-different way to directly

make sims confident or angry or horny or whatever.

You'll also find some conspicuous piles of dirt.

These work exactly the same as collecting metals and crystals and all that kind of stuff

that's already in the game, but as you level up you'll glean an increasing number of

interactions for each dirt hole.

Like eventually you'll unlock the ability to start an excavation, which lets other sims

join in the fun and dig up everything from old statues, to ceremonial knives, to crystal

skulls, fossilized mustaches and more.

After this, your sims can ship them off to be cleaned and authenticated, or you can just

do it yourself if you've got the skills and an archaeologist's table.

It's a lot of busy work, but I actually kind of like it in this case since there's

something enjoyable about cleaning up old items and putting them on display.

Not only does it provide more art to place around your house, but it also gives you some

valuable artifacts that, surprise surprise, affect the emotions of nearby sims.

Or sometimes you'll uncover a fake that doesn't have any real value but is still

pretty amusing in and of itself.

Then there are relics, some of the most powerful new items in the pack.

These provide the ability to place blessings and curses on sims once you've assembled

the requisite components, and we'll get to what these can do in a bit.

But yeah, back to exploring the jungle, which really does look pretty nice.

There may only be one environment, but it's a decently varied one with waterfalls, bridges,

cliff sides, and all sorts of lush vegetation.

Still, its limitations are apparent pretty quickly since each jungle location is actually

quite small with only a handful of interactive items in it.

But you do get a choice of pathways from time to time, and you can't explore the entire

jungle in one vacation since it only allows a certain number of gates to be passed through

per trip, providing an artificial incentive to take multiple trips.

And you'll want to explore enough to find the Hidden Temple, a randomly generated building

that contains a variety of mazes, traps, treasures, and puzzles.

Well, I say puzzles, but what I really mean are things that you click on, let a sim examine

for a minute, then depending on your skills and random chance

you'll either find out the answer or you won't.

There's not much in the way of logic or challenge, it's a bunch of clicking on pillars,

totems, pressure plates and bowl offerings and seeing if your sims have the attributes

and luck needed to pass to the next section.

Yeah, sticking your hands into dark wall holes is never advised, unless you're in The Sims

4 and are looking for something fun to happen.

Sometimes it'll only be a spider or some creepy crawly, other times you'll be poisoned

and have to seek out an antidote in town, other times you'll

randomly do something right and you can move on.

And each new room of the temple will provide some treasures in the form of dig sites, simoleons,

relics, and even treasure chests full of, well, treasure.

There are also skeletons.

*air horn!* *skeleton laughter*

Hehe, ah I've missed skeletons being in The Sims, and the

fact that they're back was the single biggest reason I was curious to play this pack.

Unfortunately they're not a new life state exactly, so you can't go about making your

own skeletons in Create A Sim or being a skeleton full-time.

But you can at least find and interact with them when you come across them, and even become

one temporarily by way of blessings and curses.

Remember those relics I mentioned earlier?

Well one of them is a death relic that will turn your sims into a skeleton for a few days.

Another one will even summon a service skeleton to take care of chores in your household.

It's no Bonehilda, but it'll do in a pinch.

Yah, collecting and assembling all of the relics are one of the main things to accomplish

while adventuring, and again it's a lot of compulsive busy work

but the results can be enjoyable while it lasts.

Especially when using a relic results in an unexpected death like spontaneous combustion.

*groans of combusting agony*

The other big thing to do while you're in Selvadorada is to level up your culture skill.

As you increase your Selvadoradian Culture level you'll be able to partake in more

local activities, like doing a local dance and using local greetings

and playing local songs on the guitar.

And this is accomplished by just... doing things.

Everything from talking to locals to studying artifacts to drinking cocktails results in

an increase in the new Selvadoradian Culture skill.

Yeah that's right, there's a culture skill that you can max out

by drinking yourself into oblivion.

It's a slow way to level up, but hey, if you believe in yourself you can do it.

Now that is the look of a cultured sim.

While this is mostly only useful while visiting Selvadorada, there are of course the expected

new items that are useful everywhere, like the

four new chairs and a new stool that you get.

There are over 170 new items in build mode in general, with a little bit of everything

from surfaces to beds to pillars to plants and wallpapers and a whole bunch of knicknacks,

all fitting in with its stylized faux-Latin American aesthetic.

Good stuff if you're into building lots in tropical and desert environments,

which I admittedly am.

You even get a barrel grill which makes me happy for some reason.

I don't know I just like repurposed-looking items like this.

There's also a handy light-up display box for showing off all the historical artifacts

that you've stolen, er plundered, er COLLECTED from the land and people of Selvadorada.

Although, it does seem like sims are oddly attracted to using it

for putting down food they've prepared.

I'm not sure why but if they make some food and it goes missing, it's probably in the

display case next to the cursed skulls.

And yeah, that's The Sims Jungle Adventure game pack.

It's $20.

Is it worth picking up?

I mean, if you're looking for something different to do in a pretty environment in

The Sims 4, this certainly provides that.

But I wouldn't think of it as a long-lasting overhaul to the game.

I mean, I do appreciate all the new collectibles, the new latin radio stations, spicy foods

and drinks, and being able to woohoo in more bushes.

But I felt like I had my fill after only a few hours of playing, having raided all the

jungles I could find, befriended every skeleton, and maxed out my skills in drinking Selvadoradian

liquor and digging up all their priceless artifacts to

plop onto the ground next to my pool.

It's a fun time and it does some fun things, but whether or not the new stuff is what you

want in your game is obviously up to your own preferences.

For me it's a neat distraction and I'll always welcome more ways to make sims perish,

but I also don't think it's a vital expansion either.

What it is though is good for a bit of fun and I'm fine with that.

*upbeat outro music plays all upbeatedly*

Designer Dogs 101: Top 10 Bichon Frise Hybrid Breeds - Animal Facts - Duration: 6:36.

Welcome to Animal Facts.

Time for another Top 10 list.

Today we're going to look at hybrid breeds or designer dogs that stem from the beloved

Bichon Frise.

Stick around for some fluffy cuteness.

Let's get started.

But, before we start, take a moment to like and subscribe for more fun, fauna facts.

10.

ShiChon

Described as Friendly, Bold, Intelligent, and Independent this Bichon Shih Tzu hybrid

loves to play, is easy to train and makes an excellent family pet.

Like all the dogs on this list, the Shichon can be hypoallergenic, but no dog is guaranteed

to be so.

If you have allergies and are planning on getting a dog based on hypoallergenic claims,

we suggest spending time with the breed before deciding on adding one to your family.

We publish every Monday and Friday.

So, hit that notification icon to not miss a single fact.

9.

ChiChon

Not to be confused with the Shichon, the ChiChon is a Bichon mixed with a Chihuahua.

This designer dog can be loving, energetic, sweet natured and easy to train.

He can be quite intelligent, but many would also describe the Chichon as being a bit on

the needy side.

But, we'll just call that affectionate.

Be warned that he may be a frequent barker.

8.

Chonzer

One can't be part Miniature Schnauzer and not be adorable.

The Chonzer is no exception.

Affectionate, devoted, loving, and intelligent, the Chonzer can be protective and makes a

great family companion.

7.

Papichon

The Papichon, a Bichon Papillion hybrid, is known to listen to commands and obey his owner.

He's a moderate maintenance dog and is said to be a great pet for new dog owners.

He is a bit high energy though, so if you're on the lookout for an activity partner and

are home on a regular basis, look no further.

6.

Glechon

Slightly larger than the other dogs on this list is the Glechon, a Beagle Bichon Designer

Dog.

He's a medium-sized dog weighing up to 35 pounds.

He's gentle, friendly, easy-going and intelligent.

He also makes a good watchdog.

If you have smaller children or would just like a somewhat larger hybrid, the Glechon

is a good choice.

5.

Havachon

These next two dogs are probably as close to being purebreds as any on this list.

The Havachon is the mix of a Havanese and a Bichon Frise.

If you've watched our Havanese video (linked in the card) you know that the Havanese is

a Bichon breed that hails from Cuba.

What do you get when you mix these two Bichon breeds.

You get a small dog (weighing between 8 and 12 pounds)with a solid temperament.

He's devoted, smart, gentle, happy, energetic and a bit of an explorer.

He has been described as a bit stubborn though and pretty high energy, so he's going to

need a bit of exercise to keep his energy levels in check.

4.

Maltichon

There's not a lot to say about the Maltichon that hasn't been said about the Havachon.

The Maltichon is the cross between a Maltese and a Bichon Frise.

Like the Havanese, the Maltese is considered a Bichon breed.

The Maltichon's activity level is a bit lower than the Havachon making him an excellent

apartment dweller.

Like all the dogs on this list expect a lifespan of 12-15 years.

3.

Yo-Chon

OK… the Yochon is just adorable.

There's just no other word that more precisely describes this hybrid.

With Yorkshire Terrier and Bichon Frise parents, the Yo-Chon is a happy, energetic, social,

curious dog that's easy to train and makes a delightful addition to a family that prefers

small dogs.

He's slightly active, but for a dog his size a romp in your living room a few times

a day should suffice.

2.

Peek-A-Chon

Peek-A-Chon… no, he's not some Bichon-like Pokemon, he's the cross of a purebred Bichon

Frise and a Pekingese.

He is a small, friendly dog who makes a great family pet.

This is a sweet, loving dog who will make a great addition to any home.

He likes to play but he doesn't require a lot of exercises.

And who can resist his cute little black button nose?

1.

Cavachon

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Bichon Frise combine to create the Cavachon.

The result is a sweet-tempered, fuzzy ball of fluff that can make a lovely companion

for the right person.

The Cavachon is a small dog, which makes him a nice choice for people who live in a small

apartment.

If you're looking for an aggressive guard dog, this designer combination is probably

not the right choice for you.

He is quite the opposite.

He is gentle, accepting and tolerant (for the most part).

This makes him a good pet option for families with children, as well as for households where

there are other pets.

The Cavachon is generally energetic, but not hyperactive.

Moderate daily exercise is usually enough to help him burn off some of his excess energy.

A daily walk and a game of fetch or some other activity will provide some mental stimulation

as well.

Well, this list was certainly not all inclusive of the entire lineup of Bichon Frise hybrids.

We've missed the Poochon, La-Chon, Kashon and Daisy Dog to name just a few more of the

popular designer breeds based on the Bichon Fise.

Perhaps we'll get to them in a future video, or perhaps by the time you watch this video

we already have.

So, take a look around, see if there is anything else that strikes your fancy.

EXCLUSIVE: Stephen Hawking on What Existed Before the Big Bang - Duration: 1:42.

So Stephen, everyone wants to know. What was around before the Big Bang?

Nothing was surround before the big Big Bang.

According to Einstein's general theory of relativity, space and time together form a space-time continuum,

or manifold which has not flat but curved by the matter and energy in it.

I adopt a Euclidian approach to quantum gravity

to describe the beginning of the universe.

In this, ordinary real time is replaced by imaginary time,

which behaves like a fourth direction of space.

In the Euclidean approach, the history of the universe in imaginary time

is a four-dimensional, curved surface

like the surface of the Earth, but with two more dimensions.

Jim Hartle and I proposed a "no-boundary" condition.

The boundary condition of the universe is that it has no boundary.

In order terms, the Euclidean space time is a closed surface without end,

like the surface of the Earth.

One can regard imaginary in real time as beginning at the South Pole,

which is thesmooth point of space-time where the normal laws of physics hold.

There is nothing south of the South Pole, so there was nothing around before the Big Bang

I know your eyes in the morning sun

I feel you touch me in the pouring rain

And the moment that you wander far from me

I wanna feel you in my arms again

And you come to me on a summer breeze

Keep me warm in your love and then softly leave

And it's me you need to show

How deep is your love

Breaking us down when they all should let us be

We belong to you and me

You know the door to my very soul

You're the light in my deepest, darkest hour

You're my savior when I fall

And you may not think I care for you

When you know down inside that I really do

The Photography Book Tag! - Duration: 8:45.

Hello everyone! I am Ashleigh, and today I'm going to be doing the Photography Book Tag,

which was created by Shannon over at Shannon Reads. And she was the one that tagged me

in this, so thank you very much! And yeah, I don't normally do book tags because I just

don't like watching them, so I don't like making them either. But I thought I would

do this one just because one, it's new and not everybody's seen it, and two, because

it just will change things up on my channel a little bit and some of you guys do like

tags, so why not? But let just jump right in.

So the first one is "Fast Shutter Speed: Name a fast paced book". For this one I'm going

for The Dead House by Dawn Kurtagich, which is...it's a psychological thriller about a

school that burned down and a girl going missing at the same time. For two decades nothing

was really known about this event, until now, which is what this book is about. The reason

why I've put this under "fast paced" is because one, psychological thriller so you would expect

it to be, but this is actually presented as a case file. So it's all written in diary

entries, CCTV, like, camera footage. Any newspaper articles. And it's like that all the way through,

so you really do fly through this. It's about 400 pages, and I - both times I've read this

book I've managed to finish it within a day because I just love it so much. And like I

said, it's really fast paced.

Next up we have "Slow Shutter Speed, which is to name a slow paced book". And for this

one, I'm going with my beloved The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. I actually don't mind

slow paced books. I have no problem with reading a slower book, and this is just...oh. This

is my all time favourite book if you didn't know. And I would say it's very slow paced.

It's not exactly action - it's not an action packed story, it's just magical. In every

sense of the word. This is about a circus which arrives without warnings. It just turns

up one night, and it's only open at night. And it's a very magical circus. There's a

whole competition thing going on as well. Honestly it's just one of the most magical

stories I've ever read in my life, and it's my favourite book. However I don't recommend

it for everybody because it is a slow paced book. That's my reasoning why I literally

never recommend this book to anybody because I'm just like "but it's really slow, so what

if they don't like it?" Which is why I'm choosing it for this question.

Number three is "Pretty Picture: A book with a pretty cover". For this I'm going for The

Children of Jocasta by Natalie Haynes. I mean, you can see why. This s a retelling of the

Oedipus and Antigone stories, but from the women's perspectives I believe. And I was

waiting for this to come out in paperback, but then I saw the cover for the paperback

and really prefer this one because I just think this is beautiful. Something about the

colours, like the light grey, and the yellows and reds. It's just so stunning, and I absolutely

adore it.

"ISO: Name a book that brightens your day". For this one I'm going for Circe by Madeline

Miller, because I still think about this book. It was my favourite of last year. And I can't

wait for this to actually come out, because this is an ARC. The final cover is absolutely

stunning. And I can't wait for it to come out because I want to get the final cover

and like, display it on my shelves. I just adore this story so much. It's a kind of retelling

of the Odyssey - not quite. Circe is a sorceress who appears in The Odyssey for a few chapters.

And Madeline Miller takes her story, and expands on it I guess. But I absolutely loved this

book and it just makes me so excited whenever I think about it. And yeah, like I said I

can't wait to get my hands on a final copy.

"Leading Lines: Name a book that drew you in". For this one, I'm going for The Bone

Season by Samantha Shannon, because I remember when I read this book years ago, it just instantly

drew me in. Like, the second I picked it up. Even though it does take a quite while to

get into in regards to action and things like that, and there's a lot of information being

thrown at you about the world and how it runs. I was completely fine by that, but I was so

intrigued about it all. And not to mention the first paragraph of this book is really

intriguing. So it says "I like to imagine there were more of us in the beginning. Not

many, I suppose, but more than there are now. We are the minority the world doesn't accept.

Not outside of fantasy, and even that's blacklisted. We look like everyone else. Sometimes we act

like everyone else. In many ways, we are like everyone else. We are everywhere, on every

street. We live in a way you might consider normal, provided you don't look too hard.

Not all of us know what we are. Some of us die without ever knowing. Some of us know,

and we never get caught. But we're out there. Trust me."

Just, that paragraph makes me want to reread this, but I'm like, holding off rereading

them because it's ages until the fourth book in the series comes out, so. But this is one

of my favourite series of all time. And if you are a hardcore fantasy lover, and you're

fine with having a bit of information thrown at you in the beginning, like for the world

building and whatnot, you will probably love this series, because I sure as hell do.

"Wide Aperture: Name a book that opened your eyes." Now I was going to go for what I feel

like would be the typical answer for this, which is The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas.

But I'm going to go instead for Here I Stand by a variety of authors because this is an

anthology. This deals with so many important topics, and that's why I;ve chosen this one

because it's just...no matter how much you think you know, you will get something else

out of this because there's just that many topics covered, that you can't really...you

wouldn't have an in-depth knowledge about everything, and how that would feel to go

through it, what people perspectives would be. And so I would say this opened my eyes.

"Unusual/Interesting Focus Point: Name a book with an unusual plot". I actually found this

one quite hard, because I feel like all of the stories I tend to go for are quite strange,

but because I go for them so often it's just completely normal to me now. So I didn't really

know what to classify as "unusual", but I've ended up going for Sir Gawain and the Green

Knight which is translated by Simon Armitage. We don't know who the original author is.

But this is an Arthurian legend, and while it follows this typical, like, knights going

off into a battle of sorts - however this does follow the story of a giant green person,

like green skin, green horse, green clothes. Everything's green. Bursting into King Arthur's

court, and challenging him to the Beheading Game. But when he's beheaded, he doesn't die...yeah.

It's - it's quite a bizarre one I'd say.

"Narrow depth of field: Name a book with a blurred ending, or one that you didn't see

coming." For this, I'm actually going for Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, because I feel

like the majority of this book is really slow going, and not that much happens. But then

the ending is so dramatic to me. Like in comparison to the rest of the book, it just all seems

to all go down, but like in the most dramatic way possible. Not like the very very ending,

but like just a bit before when things happen - I'm pretty sure if you read this book, you'll

know what I mean. But it just - so dramatic. I did not see it coming at all. It's quite

shocking to be honest. But yeah.

And finally, "Large depth of field: name a book that way predictable". I actually don't

have this book with me anymore because I got rid of it quite awhile ago. But I'm going

to say Neverfade by Alexandra Bracken, because I remember so clearly when I was writing the

review for that one, I was saying that there were that many plot twists, it became predictable.

There were so many times where it was just like "oh! This person's betrayed us and is

actually the bad guy and then something worse would happen, and then something even worse

would happen" and it just became predictable. Like there wasn't any sort of balancing out

at all, so I just came to predict all of the twists. And I just found it really ironic that

it tried to be so dramatic in it's plot twists that it ended up being predictable. Like that

irony just still sticks with me now.

But yes, that was the photography book tag! Thank you very much shannon for tagging me!
