Exercises in the forests of Estonia one soldier was called to aid a large furry creature in the midst of a legitimate life-and-death situation

Erik ye reap Rico is a conscription member of the Estonian Defence Force

He was recently stationed with a unit near the shores of Lake Worth

Last week Erik decided to venture into the woods in search of what he describes as an alternative bathroom

From there. He spotted something that caught his attention immediately. I

Heard some funny voices that reminded me of a cat or a small, baby

I noticed some kind of cute animal walking towards me at first he reminded me of a dog, but pretty quickly

I realized it was a small baby moose. Trying to tell me something Erik said

The moose calf was all alone in the forest

Pre-code didn't want to distress the animals

So he decided to sit down to encourage the moose to wander back towards his mother wherever she was but Erik never expected

What happened next the moose calf? Sat down by his side?

Prekow said the moose walk cautiously over towards him

He was shy at first, but he finally decided that I seemed to be trustworthy and came very close to me

Erik was taken aback by the whole encounter, but it wasn't over just yet the moose calf went a step further

He even tried to find something under my armpit Erik stated

He might have thought that I have mammary glands. It appeared that the baby moose wanted the soldier to act as his mother

How would Erik precone helped the moose calf in the long term?

Obviously Erik could not fulfill the duties of a mother moose, but the hungry calf seemed comforted by his gentle presence nevertheless

Erik knew he had to help so he did his bit in another way

I called our veterinary office and let them know what happened

Erik said I wanted to do more for the small calf and wanted to ask what I should do

Pre-k was told to return the calf to where he found it and monitor the situation

because of Erik's report a that was dispatched immediately to the scene with a milk bottle to feed the moose in case his mother didn't

return

Erik found it difficult leaving the calf in the forest alone, but it all paid off

Erik and his unit did their best not to disturb the area. So the mother wouldn't be spooked

I sure enough after hearing a moose call in the night prekow eloped to find that the moose calf had gone

We noticed very fresh big moose footprints that indicated that the small calf had been rescued by his mother

Eric pre-code considers it part of his active duty as a soldier to protect animals as well as humans in this scenario

He certainly did that

Woodturning Essentials - Octagon Method For Perfect Spheres - Duration: 8:45.

Hi, Alan Stratton, from As Wood Turns.

(www.AsWoodTurns.com) As woodturners, we learn essential skills.

How to use a skew?

How to use a gouge?

How to use a scraper?

We move on to cutting beads, coves, bowls, spindles, all kinds of things.

But I think one of the essential things that we need to be able to do is to cut a sphere.

I've made many over the years, from this one which is solid cedar; to this one is laminated

oak (very, very heavy); or this one that is hollow (very light); or this others that are

smaller, or Christmas ornaments, or even this one that is the core to the infinite axis

chuck.

Cutting a sphere is fun, useful, and is a skill to be used many different ways and times.

Of all these spheres or balls, I remember this one the most.

If you could see it, you would see that it is uneven.

It is far from perfect while these are very good.

This one was from a class where the instructor tried to teach us how to turn sphere with

a jamb chuck.

Now, his intent was good.

Jamb chucks can be useful in other arenas.

But for spheres, it's the hard way to go.

So, I will show an octagon method which gets us very close to the proper shape for a sphere.

And then I'll use cup centers instead of jamb chucks that are very cheap, practically

free.

So that we can make perfect balls instead of weird, odd looking ones.

So, let's do it.

I need to start with the end in mind.

A sphere can be any wood or other material and any diameter.

In two dimensions, a sphere is a circle.

Since I'm not a machine, I use my eyes to guide my turning.

It takes a lot of practice to turn a sphere perfectly just by eye.

To guide my eyes, I'll superimpose an octagon over the sphere that I want.

Notice that each side of the octagon is tangential to the circle.

The main difference is the octagon's corners fall outside the circle.

I'll take care of those later.

Meanwhile, the octagon provides measurable points and dimensions.

In contrast the only useful measure for a sphere is diameter – not a help in turning

one.

The first measure is the diameter.

Either we turn the wood down to a target diameter or rough out the wood then measure the diameter.

Which one?

It depends on the project.

So it is up to you.

The next measure is the first corner.

Please note that we're projecting the distance onto the surface of a cylinder This measure

is mathematically derived.

I'll not show the math.

You can check me if you want but this measure is 0.293 times the diameter.

Dig out a calculator for the multiplication.

The next measure is the length of each side of the octagon.

Again, this is mathematically derived.

The measure is 0.414 times the diameter.

To summarize, If we were to turn a sphere with a diameter of one inch, the first corner

down the cylinder is 0.293 inches.

The side is 0.414 inches.

From the last corner to the other end is 0.293 inches.

Pull out your calculator and prove that these add up to one inch.

I rarely want to turn a 1 inch sphere.

So, I'm going to simulate turning a sphere with a diameter of 4 inches.

Of course, my wood when turned to a spindle must be longer than my diameter or I cannot

have a sphere.

I also need some wood to absorb damage from the centers and to avoid defects.

For my purposes, let's say my wood is 7 inches long with a diameter of 4 inches.

I've multiplied 0.293 times 4 for 1.172 inches for the distance from either end to

a corner of the octagon.

I'm multiplying 0.414 times 4 for 1.656 inches for each side of the octagon.

Enough of theory, let's turn this electronic wood.

I've measured my diameter and found it to be 4 inches.

I'm marking this distance on the surface of the cylinder that I've rough turned.

Next, I'm cutting away the wood outside of these two marks forming tenons whose diameter

is the same as the side of my octagon.

You may note that the diameter and length of the center portion seems larger than these

tenons.

You would be right.

Get over it and move on.

It will become clear shortly.

Next, mark lines for the corners on the surface of the cylinder.

These are 1.172 inches in from each end.

Then cut from the corner lines to the corner of the tenon.

If done right, these are at 45 degree angles.

Next I like to reduce the tenons as much as possible while still having enough wood to

support the sphere.

Now I'm showing the circle inside the octagon.

Note that I only need to round off the points.

To make this easier, I draw new lines in the middle of each side except the ends.

Then round over between the lines and I'm very close to a sphere.

Before I move on, I draw a new line at the equator of the sphere.

Then cut off the tenons.

Don't cut too close, leave a little.

It will disappear in the next step.

Now it is time to use a cup center faceplate.

On the tail stock I use a rubber stopper.

If nothing else, I would place a coin between the live center and the wood.

I don't want to damage the ball.

I've rotated the wood so the equator now runs from headstock to tailstock.

Now, as the wood rotates, I observe the ghost image at the top of the turning.

I gently scrape or shear scrape the surface.

As I do, the ghost shrinks.

I stop the lathe frequently and check the equator line now running from headstock to

live center.

I want to not cut it away.

I keep at it until the ghost is as small as possible without cutting away the equator

line.

This may still be rough.

I don't try for perfection now, I'll draw a new equator line.

And rotate the sphere so the new equator again runs from headstock to tailstock.

Again, I scrape or shear scrape while watching the ghost and the line.

I do not cut away the line.

Again, I keep at it until the ghost is as small as possible without cutting away the

equator line.

I'm closer now.

So, I draw a new equator line.

Same thing again as the previous two times.

I don't turn away the line but do cut away the ghost.

If I have not overcut anything or cut into the line, I'm ready to sand.

If not, I draw a new equator line, rotate, and cut some more away.

Repeating as often as I need to.

That's all I can do with lathe tools.

It's time to sand.

I rotate the sphere as if I were using cutting tools except that I do it for each grit in

sand paper.

There are some other tricks that I can use such as sanding or cutting with the end of

a pipe and a disk with a large hole in it to gage roundness.

They are useful but if you learn this process, you have an essential tool to use in many

situations.

I can turn spheres without the octagon method.

But when I do, I have to do more rotations with the cup center.

With just a little measure and lines, I can make better spheres and sphere projects.

That's it for the octagon method with cup centers for spheres.

Avengers 4 so we know that Tony Stark will make his own Infinity Gauntlet he's

gonna reassemble the Avengers Avengers Assemble that's why it's not gonna be

called up the Avengers force not being the called Avengers Assemble which

sounds crazy but could Tony Stark actually make his own Infinity stones in

order to defeat Thanos I mean Thanos I know it's crazy theory

guys but he is that Opie is that clever in some sense I'm gonna make another

video about how and why I think Tony Stark could make his own infinity signs

so we know that notice the plot point of this movie would actually be the ANA man

traveling through the quantum realm with Tony Stark in order to get help and find

the stones from previous time in a timeline and hence

how that's a Loki is gonna come back so if this is true professor Hulk will

wield the stark gauntlet which could make for a very interest in a final part

in this two-parter which was originally called Avengers infinity War part 1 and

part 2 but then Russo brothers change their mind that got cold feet because it

was too spoilery well I guess what they're saying is each each one film

Avengers like three or four they have their own define story their own

definitive little ending and star which doesn't really mean it can't be part one

and two so Hulk was two strengths strongest Avenger with four Avengers

infinity war but you could actually argue now that thought with the

Stormbreaker is absolutely opie and could take out Hulk because technically

join Thor 3 thought actually kicked his ass but then obviously as you know the

Grandmaster cheated and then Thor got owned but we do know that Captain Marvel

brie Larson the actress playing Carol Danvers will actually be the strongest

Avenger when she turns up I know that triggered some people in a previous

video but guys that's actually gonna happen so I made a previous video about

world breaker hope coming so could Professor Hulk actually just be the MCU

version of the world breaker hope that we won't really get because obviously

we've had the kind of work we've had the kind of the Hulk being like the world

break I guess you could say in hidden be in the champion so if Bruce and Hulk

become one they could have the same mind making him professor Hulk this would

idolize it would be really cool version of Bruce where he has all the strength

and the savageness of the hulk and the intelligence of Bruce Banner without the

emotional baggage in orchid nurse could be pretty cool there's also rumors of

grey Hulk but now I prefer world war hope or professor holt so in an

interview Russo Burroughs were asked why we didn't get Hulk and they says people

have interpreted as the Hulk scared Joe Russo said referring to how fallows I

mean Thanos sounded soundly defeated him in one-on-one combat in the film OPA but

it really effect really reflective of his

journey from ragueneau that these two characters are constantly in conflict

with each other over control it has more to do with the internal conflict between

banner and hope with bruised egos which is okay I can guess where I can guess I

can see where you're coming from so this pretty much confirm confirms guys that

we will be getting it smart hope during Avengers four aka infinity war aka

Avengers Assemble aka ventures dissemble I don't know guys let me know what you

think that's gonna be called do you think we will be getting professor Holt

because we're gonna have to get a variation of a Hulk that can actually

hold his own now I do think the part at the start of the video sounds very

interesting I'll go of it once more when it says Hulk ultimately we'll just start

gauntlet against Thanos I mean fan offs losing his arm in the

process so this is gonna say that Hulk is going to lose his arm wielding the

stark gauntlet but it was interesting because basically it's being confirmed

by the Infinity war directors that fun-ass Thanos has kind of lost his arm

but I don't really believe that but we just have to wait and see what happens

so it could be a defining moment in the Hulk Marvel Cinematic Universe history

and that Hulk will actually become smart and have the intelligence of Bruce but

to be honest guys he doesn't really seem like a professor currently he seems a

bit like it could be someone else could it actually be Loki inside him I made

that video about a week ago saying Loki is actually posing as Bruce Banner and

that's why couldn't Hulk out and a lot of people reacted badly to that video

but it did have a lot of grounds that's why I make it so anyway guys please like

News Brief: Stacey Abrams Win and Connection to Deaf Community [CC] - Duration: 2:18.

Hello, welcome to the Daily Moth! It is Thursday, May 24.

Tuesday was the primary elections for several states, and the spotlight is on Stacey Abrams,

who won the Democratic nomination to run against the Republican nominee for state governor in November.

Abrams is the first black woman to win a major-party nomination for governor in any state.

She also has connections with the Deaf community in Georgia, as she worked with a Deaf woman,

Amy Cohen Efron, and others, to organize a question-and-answer session that was streamed

live on Facebook. The link to that is in the transcript. So Abrams has met with the Deaf community.

Abrams posted on Facebook that she was committed to welcoming people who are deaf and hard of hearing,

that it has to be in deed not simply in words. She seems really committed.

On Tuesday night, there was a group of deaf people gathered to watch

Abrams give her victory speech, with an interpreter by her side.

Congratulations to Abrams and to the Deaf community there for building that strong relationship.

Abrams has a big challenge in the November elections, as Georgia is a Republican-leaning state

and has been led by a Republican governor for the past 20 years.

A university in England, the Cardiff Metropolitan University, has banned 34 phrases, as they

want to embrace cultural diversity.

The university said that they do not want their students with cultural backgrounds to

affect other students that are on the campus.

The University Police Also Banned the Words �Homosexual� and �Heterosexual�

This means that any words that include the word �Man� in them are banned from use

in the university.

Words that have been banned include �sportsmanship, mankind, and spokesman.� The policy has

advocated against additional words, and these include �homosexual� and �heterosexual.�

It is said that words such as these are laden with values that come from a previous time.

The code of practices of the university said that �same-sex� and �other-sex� relationships

were a much better option to use.

The university went on to say no one likes to be put together under one group and they

try to avoid any terms considered to be generalized.

This includes �the disabled� or �the blind.� Saying �disabled people� instead

of �the disabled� is a much better way of phrasing it said the university as the

latter leads to putting emphasis that people are disabled by a society that does not accommodate

them.

The university did say that people should not suffer too much anxiety about using language.

They pointed out that blind people often use terms such as �see you later� despite

the fact they cannot see.

They also said that people should not be over cautious about making conversation hard for

both parties.

Students Who Do Not Follow the Rules Face Disciplinary Action

The university said that if students or staff members fail to follow the rules and they

say any of the phrases that are banned it might lead to them facing disciplinary action.

As to what that action might entail is anyone�s guess.

However, the policy was said to be insulting regarding free speech.

Lecturer Says the University Should Not Dictate Dr. Joanna Williams, the lecturer at the University

of Kent, said that the idea that in a university people are dictated to in such way is an insult

to academics and students, who should be able to deal with those words.

She went on to say the ban on certain words was not needed and that those words have evolved

over long periods and do not have any sexist association.

A spokesperson from the Cardiff Metropolitan University said the university was committed

to the principle of academic freedom inside the law.

The university also committed to offering an environment where every person is valued

along with being treated with respect and dignity.

The two commitments are said to be the cornerstones of academic life within the University.

The Code of Practice on Using Inclusive Language has set out an approach that is broad to the

promotion of equality and fairness by bringing up awareness of the possible effects of vocabulary

that might be called discriminatory.

The university said that in particular, it includes suggestions that support gender equality

and these are consistent with guidance from the British Sociological Association and their

information about Equality and Diversity.
