We live in amazing times.

Biomedical advances we have nowadays are treating us in terms of a whole range of diseases,

a whole range of conditions and that's fantastic.

But imagine an extreme scenario, let's imagine a scenario where all of a sudden you or I

unfortunately are caught in a major accident, a car accident.

All of a sudden you start to bleed.

A large section of you is damaged, there's bleeding that's occurring and blood vessels

broken.

Let's imagine for example, even worse, your lung has now gotten damaged as well and you

can't even breathe properly.

Wouldn't it be amazing to have a material that you could literally squirt onto that

broken blood vessel and seal it up.

Onto that lung, so you could squirt it onto there so you could start to breathe normally

again.

We've developed a material that can do just that.

This material is based on a natural elastic protein, that natural elastic protein is methacrylated.

Methacrylated tropolastin so we call it MeTro for short.

Let's look at the following example.

When a human lung is punctured it collapses and requires surgery.

MeTro will eliminate the need for stitching and stapling and will simplify the procedure.

It's applied directly to the wound site and activated with light to form a complete seal.

Our MeTro seals in seconds, it's stronger than surrounding lung tissue and it retains

the lung's natural elasticity.

Unlike stitching or staples, MeTro promotes the healing of tissue, allows the site to

recover and returns that tissue to normal function in just half the time.

We have developed this technology in collaboration with colleagues at Harvard University and

Northeastern University, both in the United States.

Those colleagues Nasim Annabi and Ali Khademhosseini together with us here at the University of Sydney

have really allowed us to have an extraordinary collaboration that has generated in this powerful

material MeTro.

Now that we've got MeTro we're poised to be able to do these treatments in humans.

But there are so many things we can do with this material and we look forward to having

the opportunity to test and apply these technologies for a whole range of applications in people.

Monostable Circuits, Redstone Series #3 - Duration: 4:57.

hello what's up FalseIokkon here and today I'm going to be doing a little bit

of an explanation on a monostable circuit now what is a Monostable

Circuit? A monostable circuit is basically anything that gives out an

exact one tick pulse. And for those of you who do not know one tick is exactly

equivalent to a tenth of a second and essentially that means that there are 10

ticks in one second and essentially that means that this redstone lamp will turn

on and off really really quickly so as you see here I'll just demonstrate that

for you real quickly if we were to press this button it would turn on and off

extremely quickly now moving on this here is the following image one a simple

circuit essentially speaking if we were to hit this button it would give it out

at the end of the pulse so essentially the only difference is that here the

following age - typical circuit I'm sorry the rising entrance table circuit

it were to give it out at the beginning of the pulse here at the end of the

pulse we will see a that quick one tick pulse and so basically the first one was

called a rising edge Monostable circuit and this is because of the fact that

this piston has to rise up in order to give this pulse essentially how this

works is this button will then power this block which will then part of this

dust and this dust will basically power this piston and this repeater at the

exact same time however Pistons exactly take one exactly one sort of tick to

pull to extend to fully up fully extend and that gives just enough time for this

redstone repeater to grab this Redstone dust's pulse which will then power this

redstone lamp and essentially it works the exact same way in the falling edge -

Monostable circuit except for the fact that we have sort of this piston here

and this Redstone torch here which will then basically just convert it to make it

at the end of the pulse instead of the beginning now as you can see there at

the end of the buttons life sort of pulse pulse's life where you see that

really quick one it take pulse while here we see this really quick pulse at

the beginning of the lesson sort of pulses life

as you can see here I just added this button just to show you that if you were

to press it it would still extend it however you'd have to turn it back off

and then turn it back on in order to see that one tick pulse again and as you can

see here this here is called the dual edge Monostable circuit and the only

difference is that it'll give out a pulse up at both the beginning of the

buttons life and at the end of the buttons life so as you can see there we

saw 2, 1 tick pulses one of the beginning one at the end and it is basically made

by giving the fact that a Piston takes exactly one second to start one tick to

extend and essentially speaking this will then power this a repeater which

will then probably this block which is that in power this repeater but at

the same time it'll power this piston and since we know that Pistons take

exactly one tick to fully extend it will then cut off this it's done signal

to not before this redstone lamp sorry it gets a really

quick one tick pulse and then everything will then retract and this piston will

this redstone lamp sorry well then give out another really quick one tick pulse

so I'll just demonstrate that for you guys again really quickly as you can see

there at the beginning and at the end we saw that really quick one take pulse so

this is basically done by combining it this is done by, so the basically

the Dual Edge monostable circuit is done by combining the first two and that's

pretty much all what a monostable circuit is I just want you to comment on

the fact that these are not the only types of Monostable circuits and

certainly are they not the only types of design I actually pulled this off these

designs off of one of Mumbo Jumbo's videos which is another really great

Minecraft sort of YouTube channel I'll put a link to this video and his channel

How To Be Grateful While Having Lyme Disease - Duration: 6:23.

hi guys and welcome back to SubLyme77 your channel for Lyme disease awareness

education and inspiration my name is Regina Stoneham and I'm a Lyme warrior

today we're going to be talking about Lyme disease and gratitude the

definition of grateful is the quality of being thankful let's go being grateful

is a choice we all have a choice the more grateful we choose to be the

happier we will become being grateful is an action what are some of the things

that you might do to show your gratitude here are some examples tell someone face

to face how much you love them and appreciate them call someone who's in a

tough spot and spend time with them on the phone here's a good one write a

letter to someone and tell them what they mean to you and send it in the mail

snail mail when somebody receives a letter I know especially me when I

receive a letter that's handwritten I know that that took time and I know that

that person was actually thinking about me and that is a wonderful feeling to

have give genuine compliments to those you love but they have to be they have

to be genuine if you see that your husband's hair is like messy and out of

place and you say hey I really like your hair that's not genuine you have to be you

have to be genuine about it so instead of saying that you could say oh my gosh

you're so handsome even though your hair is messed up

they have to be genuine the more that you can compliment other people and give

them genuine compliments the more you are healing yourself and giving yourself

a break from Lyme disease get it here's a good

one make a friend their favorite meal if you

can cook or something or you can buy a pie and give it to the neighbor I was

just thinking you know us Lyme disease patients depending on where

we're at physically in order to show how grateful we are but being able to do it

you know with our physical limitations a kind word goes a long long way so if you

are laid up in bed you can still use your words

and you can find like the small things try to find you know the little moments

and do what you can do and you don't have to do it like all at once start in

baby steps start like once a day saying something to a loved one and making that

really mean something to that because our loved ones that are taking care of

us they are working really really hard and they're dealing with a different

aspect of Lyme disease and they need to know that they're loved that they're

appreciated that they're helping you get through this disease our lives get so

consumed about taking care of our families and

dealing with this disease that we forget to be grateful and sometimes we kind of

get stuck in a rut of doing the same thing every day or having a bad day or

you know we just get stuck in these like mental and physical ruts and I feel like

being grateful will help us get out of these ruts and will give us a little bit

of a mental break and show others how much we appreciate them and and we we

care about them if we begin to show our gratitude and reach out to others

without thinking about ourselves something really awesome starts to

happen you're not lonely anymore you have people to connect with to share

with whether it be on the internet through Facebook through support groups

at home with your spouse so this month for the month of November my challenge

to you is to show your gratitude every day not just on Thanksgiving but to show

your gratitude in little ways every day and that is going to make a big

difference in your life question of the day what are some of the ways that you
