Rethinking VAM! A Short Overview - How to Understand VAM Testing In Our School System - Duration: 5:13.

Right now in almost every public school in America our students teachers are being evaluated

Judged and labeled based on what many have coined junk science.

Value-Added models or VAMs for short are statistical models designed to measure the amount of growth that students make on large-scale

standardized tests to estimate how much of that growth and achievement can be attributed back to their students teacher.

While this method sounds promising and has been sold as such there are several flaws that make the issue more complicated than it might seem.

For example, many of the theoretical and methodological problems are often downplayed or ignored by those promoting VAM use. In

response, this video presents the

counter-argument to the pro- VAM narrative by focusing on the major statistical

concerns of VAMs and the real-life consequences that accompany their use,

especially when high-stakes tests are attached to VAMs estimates.

First of all like all measurement tools VAMs should be but unfortunately are not always reliable,

valid, and free from bias. In-fact based on the most current research, a teacher classified as adding value has a

twenty-five to fifty percent chance of being classified as

subtracting value the following year and vice versa. It would be just as reliable and a whole lot cheaper if

administrators simply flipped a coin to determine whether a teacher was indeed effective in this regard.

Related, VAMS should also be valid just as one would expect a scale to consistently measure weight that is with reliability,

one should also expect a VAM to measure what is actually supposed to measure, teacher effectiveness.

While there is limited evidence to suggest that VAMs are valid there are reasons for this, for example

surrounding the known problems with the tests upon which VAMs rely.

We know that such tests are poor measures of student achievement

and we know that such tests were never intended to measure teacher quality, our

growth, and student achievement from one to the next that could be attributed back to teacher quality

but they are being used this way regardless. We also know that VAMs estimates

do not correlate or relate well with many other measures of teacher effectiveness.

In-fact other measures sometimes flat out

contradict VAM Estimates and vice versa.

This should not happen

but it does, and it does so too often. This and about 25 other issues are still making

validity nearly impossible to achieve.

Further, research Evidence has shown that some teachers scores are indeed biased by the students they teach

especially when they teach classrooms with

disproportionate populations of

gifted and/or high need students. These are the students typically on the tails of the normal bell curve.

This happens in many ways because students are not randomly assigned to classrooms or teachers.

Regardless of what VAM statisticians in this area might say their

statistical controls

too often do not work effectively to con counter or control for this very real issue. All

these problems matter, but what matters more is the way in which these problems affect

people.

Despite mounting cautionary research, VAMs are being used for consequential decision-making purposes in many

states across America.

Teachers have been demoted,

demoralized, and dismissed because of these models that are at best correct some of the time.

To push human judgment out of these highly complex statistical equations as

others justify and their perpetual pursuit of objectivity is

scientifically wrong. If we are ever to truly find any value in

value-added modeling, as still currently conceptualize and use we still have a long long way to go. If

I would like to tell you what I had been doing during this months

I was out

I was in Milano, I was working...

I was doing some TV commercials

for Ritter Chocolate

for Pasta Reggia

I was doing a catalog for the nex season of summer

for the bikini brand Solo Sole

I was doing the catalog of the underwear brand Roso Porpora from Italy

I was doing different shootings

During all this time I was like....

documents and more documents...

because I´m in an agency from Miami and I have to go there to work.

So I had to ask for a visa.

Make the visa and go inside USA it is so difficult.

It is so controled.

It is so complicated because they make a lot of questions, they give you a form...

You have to gather all the documents of the jobs that you did in all your life.

so.. thanks that I have everything save in my laptop

amm... not inside the laptop... outside...

I have it!

I had to colect all the information, they had to compare the information...

because they also check the information sent.

They also make you more questions like:

-Why you want to come to USA?

-Where will you be in USA?

-You are thinking in stay there? Or you will return to your country?

It is a bit long process.

But finally I have my visa in my passport

And now I can go to work in the USA

I´m going to MIAMI!

For me it is a big new and a big oportunity

it is an adventure and an amazing experience.

I will also continue studying my career.

All what I did was what I explained, I had been travelling...

how you can hear I have irritated throat because...

I´m allways saying that

I don´t understand... why?

Why in the airports, planes, trains, train stations...

any public place...

the air conditioner is so high??

WHY?

Why you do it?

It is not necesary put it so high!!

From 30th of Juny that I returned to Spain I´m with my throat irritated

And from this day untill now I´m like this. I have not finished recovering.

Finally I´m here in Spain, my idea is not to go to any place for hollidays

because I´m tired to make and make bags

and I just want to stay at home, enjoy, go to the beach, sleep in my bed, go to my gym, eat my food...

And I don´t want to hear anything to travell this summer.

All what I explained is what I did during this time, this is the reason why I couldn´t stay in Youtube making videos

Next stop MIAMI!

I will do video about everything, airport, apartment, the beaches of Miami

to see if it is how the people say it is, how it is in the movies or not.

I hope you have hear about what I did and what I will do next.

Karrimor Sure Fit Sport Earphones/Earbuds Unboxing and Review! - Duration: 2:25.

Hello there guys!

It's CoolFox over here and today I'm bringing you an unboxing and review of the Karrimor

Sure fit earbuds.

Let's first start with the unboxing and take a look at the specifications.

They have 32 Ohm's of impedance, and a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz.Opening the box,

you are greeted with the earbuds in some plastic packaging and some extra ear tips and earhooks.

These are the default eartips which are very comfortable to wear and these are the ear

hooks which ensure a sure fit.

I wish that this plastic part was a magnet so that it could stay around your neck without

falling off but as I said, it is only plastic.

This is the control unit and you have a play pause button and the volume up and down which

cannot skip tracks like some other earbuds.

The buttons are also very nice and tactile.

This is the 3.5 mm jack and it is also of pretty good quality.

Now let's talk about the sound quality of the earbuds themselves.

They have really good High's and Low's but the Mid's aren't as defined.

Vocals are all crystal clear and different instruments can be easily be distinguished.

The aesthetic of the earbuds is great and I like the overall colour scheme of black

and red.

These are the extra tips and ear hooks and this is the removal and insertion process

that has to be done.

This is just like any other earbud and can be easily done in under a minute.

You have 3 different sizes to choose from overall which are small medium and large (same

The Story Behind RuPaul And His Husband's Relationship - Duration: 3:59.

Drag's most famous icon and host of perennial favorite RuPaul's Drag Race, RuPaul Charles,

surprised fans when he announced in March 2017 that he had married his long-term boyfriend,

Georges LeBar, in a secret ceremony in January, on the exact day they met, 23 years ago.

"I've never said this on television before.

We are married."

Until that point, RuPaul had been keeping fairly mum about the man in his life.

So, who's the mystery guy who found his way into the superstar's heart, and what's the

story behind their relationship?

He's a rancher

Though it might seem like an unlikely habitat for the always impeccably-dressed Ru, LeBar

spends most of his time at his Wyoming-slash-South Dakota ranch he owns and runs.

In true Ru-style, he makes his time down on the two-state-spanning ranch his own.

"When I go there I dress up in western wear, but nobody cares.

I dress up in the most gorgeous Western-wear outfit, but nobody cares."

Luckily for him, Ru gets to take it easy when he's on the ranch.

He described the vibe to Access Hollywood in 2012, saying, quote, "I get to read a lot,

I watch a lot of movies.

I don't do any of the hard labor or anything like that."

He's Australian

After hoping and wishing, Ru snagged himself a man from down under.

In a revealing interview, he told Buzzfeed in 2015, "He's so kind and funny…

I remember praying, 'I want a sweet, sensitive man,' and I got an Australian who's just lovely."

They met on the dance floor

Not surprisingly, this romance was born and blossomed on the dance floor.

RuPaul said during a 2013 "Where Are They Now" special on the Oprah Winfrey Network

that he first spotted LeBar in 1994, at New York City's infamous Chelsea nightclub the

Limelight:

"He was on the dance floor, dancing like a maniac.

I had to go over and say, 'What are you going through?'"

Serendipitously, as Vanity Fair reported in 2017, the night the pair met at the club was

actually LeBar's birthday.

What better way to celebrate it than working it with Ru.

He's even taller than Ru

It's hard to believe, but LeBar actually towers over the 6'4" RuPaul, at least when they're

both barefoot.

Ru says it was inevitable that LeBar would catch his eye ...

"It's also because he's actually 6'7", so he's, he's taller than I am.

So, of course I had to, to notice him."

They're very devoted

Over the years, when RuPaul has spoken about his man, he's been pretty open about the couple's

relationship and how much LeBar means to him.

"He is devoted to me, I am devoted to him … And that's the end of the story."

In 2012, he gushed to Access Hollywood, "There's a man…He is the love of my life."

They didn't plan this

As of 2015, it didn't seem very likely that the pair was going to wed anytime soon.

When asked by Buzzfeed if he had plans to marry George, Ru replied, "No, I don't stand

on ceremony, I never want to conform to anything."

Despite the change of heart, it looks like taxes and financial matters did stay on the

couple's mind, as RuPaul told Hollywood Today Live after announcing the 2017 marriage …

"We never wanted to do it.

We were looking into it, really, for tax breaks and financial things."

He's not into show business

Unlike his superstar husband, Georges LeBar has very little interest in the spotlight,

and does what he can to "sashay away" from the cameras.

As Vanity Fair reports, LeBar, "...doesn't care about the details of celebrity.

Recently, the two were caught by paparazzi while visiting New York, but this was a rare

occasion."

"He doesn't care about show business at all.

It's — He could care less."

Here's hoping Ru and Georges have a long and happy life together!
