Evaluate where you are look at it assess yourself assess yourself and assess the

situation what brought you there what has brought you to this point what did

you learn from it are you learning anything are you doing it over and over

and over again somebody said that insanity is doing the same thing in the

same way expecting a different outcome don't let this year be like last and if

last year was great still don't let it be that way raise the standard your life

is perfect and extraordinary you darn well know you're not gonna be happy

unless you keep making about it that's what makes us feel live it's not what we

get that make us happy it's who we become and what we're able to give

because we become more if you want to begin to move you've got to clear your

mind of all the unnecessary luggage and baggage that's weighing us down you're

gonna have people to do things to you things are going to happen to you and

the most important thing to do is to harness your will and let it go and move

so you can grow so you can get on with your life it doesn't matter about what

happens to you what matters is what are you going to do about it

if there's anything that shift your life it'll get you to thrive in a difficult

situation it takes a massive action try something else

change it try it move it progress equals happiness if you can start to make

progress you get that yourself going even if it's not perfect if it doesn't

work you know what they do just change your approach that doesn't work change

your approach so often in life people don't begin the

journey because they're not quite sure what to do or how to do it right or how

to do it perfect you want to change your body get yourself moving don't wait for

the perfect trainer just blowing off your move but are your shoes and moving

get momentum I'm gonna turn this situation around I'm not gonna sit back

and and moan and cry over what happened and what went wrong and who did what I'm

going to do something about this situation the other thing is take full

responsibility for your life it's where you are and the

responsibility that you're going to take yourself where you want to go so once

that we have two primary choices in life we can either accept conditions as they

exist or we can take the responsibility to change them see a lot of people want

to exempt themselves from taking responsibility all they want to do is

talk about the problem every time you see them they'll tell you their story

over and over and over and over again no no you want to take responsibility

for your life I got me here I can get me out of this

and I'm getting out I'm not going to be a volunteer victim

and so all you're looking for new breakthroughs to practice and practice

and practice you'll get better and better and better and there's still some

things that will happen to you that will catch you on the blindside that you did

not anticipate

you'll get knocked down but you won't be knocked out and so I say to you it's

possible you can live your dream if it's becoming a diamond if it's having more

it's and achieving more being a better father being a mother whatever it is

overcoming addiction changing our society it's possible you can live your

dream it's necessary that you have a plan of

action that you always tell you that you stick to and you work with the system

that you work with people that you give support and that you be there for them

that you have the vision and never give up that you become creative and

relentless and keep on coming back again and again and again and that excuse that

you gotta take personal responsibility to make it happen and that it's hard

easy is not an option and when life knocks you down jump back up it's weird

people and situations that upset you see there's some people that know just how

to push your button they know just what to say but I'm not going to expend any

energy arguing with anybody life is too short ladies and gentleman and

unpredictable I don't want to spend my time arguing with anybody so I avoid

situations that will get me upset I don't argue with people draw the line

ladies and gentlemen there are certain things that we just go through life just

taking and at some point you just got to draw the line and just say enough is

enough you got to do that with yourself one negative stroke is 16 times more

powerful than a positive strike and if you have people around you who are not

sensitive to who you are and the people that can hurt you the most ladies and

gentlemen are the people that you love they're the ones that you are vulnerable

to they're the ones that can get to you and their fifths insensitive I don't

care who they are see if you don't draw the line with

people if you just let them run rampant in your life and you let things happen

to you that you don't feel good about if you continue to allow it to happen you

won't feel good about yourself your image of yourself will erode so you've

got to draw the line a lot of people just go to a job where they're miserable

day in and day out why do people stay together and they're miserable sleeping

in separate rooms arguing are the only thing they have in common is paying the

bills don't talk don't communicate don't share anything together day in and day

out is short and unpredictable that life is being mean to each other what do

people do that known Hills are preferable to strange heavens because

it's familiar see life is rough ladies and gentlemen it's rough and it's scary

it's scary growing it's scary taking a chance it's scary acting on your

intuition on your guts it's scary it's frightening

they're people that this tolerating things right now and they're immobilized

by fear they can see the hammer coming and they afraid to even move because

it's scary to go against the dominant thinking of your family friends and

those people you associate with every day is perhaps the most difficult act of

courage you will ever perform see when you start growing when you start

changing the way you walk the way you talk the way you act the way you respond

to things the way you use your time when you start saying no I can't do that

while you do you're too busy you don't have the time to I have my own agenda so

if people can put you on a guilt trip they will and use you and abused you

over and over and over again you got to draw the line you have to draw the line

on it don't go through life feeling like you're powerless victims of people that

are powerless you're not powerless you are powerful you direct the power in

your life whatever your life is right now it is a duplication of your

consciousness its result of how you have decided to use your power that's all it

is that's not who you are that's just a perverted use of your power that you

aren't satisfied with and you've got the power to change that wherever you are

how I don't know but I know you've got the power to do that but you don't know

what has happened to me it really doesn't matter what has happened to you

see the only thing that really matters is what are you going to do about it

that's all that matters that's all that matters

you can allow it to destroy you or you can allow it to bill you up we never get

to a level where we feel that there's nothing else for us to do that we've

achieved certain number of goals and we figure that we're through no no you

don't want to stay there and celebrate too long like a lot of people do they do

something they consider outstanding they go around talking about what they

used to do see let me tell you I used to do this and I used to do that excuse me

used to bees don't make no honey what are you doing now you're still here

breathing that means you've got some more to give doesn't matter how old you

are doesn't matter about where you are doesn't matter about what you have

doesn't matter about what you've done life is about growing it's about being

productive it's about stretching it's about challenging yourself so you start

looking around and decide hey hey what else do I want to do what what got me

here is a time for celebration but also a time for reflection what got me here

what worked what did not work what do I need to do to repeat so that I can get

the same kind of results in other areas of my life if the goal is to improve my

health if the goal is to improve my relationship if the goal is to improve

my income if the goal is to improve something in society what is it I need

to do now don't get confused with what you do with who you are don't trip don't

go on some type of ego trip I like talking about how bad you are

none of us do anything by ourselves develop an appreciation for external

support as well as good fortune because all of those things play a role the

other thing is don't go overboard celebrate you must meet with triumph and

disaster and treat those two Impostors just the same you look at hey I did it I

feel good about that now you're moving on to the next thing things did not work

out the way you wanted them to work out you didn't produce the results you

wanted to produce hey miss that win some you lose some

next moving right on don't confuse who you are with what you do and make your

mind fertile ground for the seeds of opportunity thinking if you want to

experience a sense of fulfillment you've got to have an open mind so that ideas

can come in there and take root and grow

5 LEGGENDE HORROR GIAPPONESI (2) - Duration: 3:20.

let's continue to talk about leggends and myths

Made in Japan

if you're ready, let's start with the second part!

Okiku Doll- doll with a Kimono

It's one of the most famous stories of the accursed dolls.

It's told that a young boy called Eikichi Suzuki did buy this doll in 1918 in a shop at Sapporo

And that it was given to his younger sister Okiku.

The girl was happy to receive this doll as present, but she died suddenly.

The parents putted immediately the doll on a shrine

And every day they prayed for their little daughter.

After some months the doll's hair started to grow

In 1939 the doll was brought at the temple of Mannejin, where she still resides today,

And her hair still grows, without any scientific explanation.

Cow head

The legend recounts that during a school trip, the teacher

to entertain the students, started to tell some horror stories.

When he talked about a story called cow head, he couldn't stop to tell the story, he was like in a trance

When he finally returned back to reality, he saw all of his students and also the driver

unconscious and slime was coming out from their mouths.

Some of them died some days after.

Kleenex – accursed spot

In 1980 the Kleenex did an accursed spot: the spot was accompanied by some really creepy music

that some people considered it as a Folk song with a lot of curse.

It was the case, that some members of the cast of these tissues, died prematurely in some strange circumstances.

Fatal passenger

The legend talks about a taxi driver that was stopped suddenly in an isolated location by a person that wanted to take the taxi.

The passenger leaded the taxi driver in a strange and lost location and then he suddenly disappears.

The driver turns around the steering wheel and he sees that he is driving towards a cliff.

Taxi drivers be careful!

Jinmenken – dogs with human faces

The Jinmenken are dogs with a human face that walk during the night through the Japanese streets

It's told that these dogs are the reincarnation of the spirits of the victims of road accidents.

Be careful if you see them cross something or someone on your driving line:

drive carefully!

Winter Foraging | The Salt | NPR - Duration: 4:03.

National Public Radio presents winter foraging with Debbie Naha.

Chickweed, purple dead nettle, field garlic, spicebush, hairy bittercress.

This poor plant needs a new name.

Wow, Debbie, I didn't know you could find all those edible plants in wintertime!

Why don't we come along on your walk to find these wild greens?

And then we'll cook up a delicious pasta dish.

Take it away, Debbie!

This is purple dead nettle.

It starts to get a little bit of purplish tinge to the leaves.

And you can always tell it's in the mint family by checking the stem,

and the stem will be square.

You can't, like, roll it between your fingers, it's a square stem.

A square stem!

That's neat.

What's next, Debbie?

So this is field garlic.

This is a plant that you can always find in the winter.

It grows in clumps that come up.

They kind of look like long grass, but it's not grass.

You can cook them up like you would any onion.

You can use the tops like you use chives, you can chop them.

And you wind up with garlic breath, you really do.

Once you know it, it starts popping up all over.

I see you, field garlic.

This shrub is spicebush.

And spicebush has these little buds that are winter floral buds.

The bark of spicebush is usually an olive kind of color, and it has speckles on it.

And the speckles are called lenticels.

They're actually little breathing pores for gas exchange.

And then the final test is the scratch-and-sniff test,

because nothing else smells like this plant.

Mmm, yeah.

Mmm, smells like a spicy lemon!

This is one of my favorite plants, it really is.

Hairy bittercress.

It just needs a new name; it needs a PR makeover.

It grows in this rosette shape, which means that these leaves are all

radiating out from a central point.

It tastes like watercress but milder, like not as peppery as watercress.

Mmm, yeah.

Doesn't look very hairy to me.

This is chickweed.

It's a weak-stemmed plant so it doesn't stand up straight.

Inside the stem, there's like an elastic thread.

It's like a little rubber band inside there.

And it's very mild-tasting.

Yup, that's chickweed.

You found a lot of greens there, Debbie.

Now will you show us how to cook them?

This is field garlic.

So we're going to be separating the bulb from the greens.

And I'm going to take the bulbs and give them a quick sauté.

And we're making spicebush tea.

We want to keep them submerged for at least 20 minutes.

So in this colander here, we have our rinsed chickweed and dead nettle and hairy bittercress.

And we're going to use a box of penne pasta.

So we're going to wilt our greens here.

Ooooo!

Then I'm going to scrape this field garlic.

We'll add the chopped field garlic tops.

And the final ingredient is the cheese.

So here we have our penne pasta with wild greens of winter and hot spicebush tea.

Thanks Debbie!

That looks delicious.

Mmm, good!

Azure Storage for Serverless .NET Apps in Minutes - Duration: 9:14.

hi I recently wrote a blog post about Azure storage I wanted to show how easy

it is to work with and the fact that you can debug and test it locally without

even having an Azure subscription what I'm gonna do in this video is walk

through the blog post step by step follow along exactly as it's written and

show you hands-on how to build and debug and Azure functions or a serverless

application using Azure storage and then deploy it to Azure

my name is Jeremy Likness I'm a cloud developer advocate with Microsoft let's

get started

starting with Visual Studio 2017 I'm going to select the azure functions

template this will open a dialog for me that allows me to enter a name for the

application so I'll type in the name and then leave create directory for

solution checked and click OK

now I have a dialogue that allows me to enter an initial trigger select my

framework choose my storage account and access rights we're going to make this

anonymous and use our local storage emulator this will spin up the project

the first thing I want to do is take the function 1 class and rename it to

something more useful in this case we'll call it link shortener

now that we have it renamed we can paste in the code from the article that

basically refactors the method provided to use an href instead of a

name the trigger by default just echoes the name back but we're building a link

shortener so the first test is can we echo an href that we passed in the query

string back so we've tested this code we're gonna go ahead and hit debug and

this is going to launch the function app host it's a fully functional host for

function endpoints that's cross-platform so this will run on any

machine and here it's found the endpoint for the function so I'm going to copy

that endpoint navigate to a web browser and paste that in and the first time

I'll get a message that says I should enter a URL so I'm going to go ahead and

add the href parameter and default this for the first attempt to my blog and hit

enter and it should echo back that I passed in the blog

for the link shortener functionality to work we need to add a few classes the

first class is a key that simply keeps track of a next up identifier so that we

can generate the code for the link shortener so this is a very simple class

that inherits from table entity which is what we use for table storage so that

has some partition key and row key and timestamp information and what's unique

for us is the identifier next we'll create a URL data class that holds the

long URL that we're mapping to as well as a count of times that that URL was

referenced now we'll add some bindings to our method the first binding will map

to a specific table entry and pull in that key entry for us so that we get the

next up ID the second entry is a generic way to interact with table storage

that's all that it takes to make the interaction if we don't have a key yet

we'll initialize it to a new value and insert it so that it is available for

later use

now we'll go ahead and remove the return value because we're going to change that

to the shortcode and add the logic to create the code basically there's a

mapping of the integer to alpha text then we create a new entity that has a

partition key which is the first character of the code the code itself

the long URL and account which will initialize to 0 and update as users

navigate the final steps are to increment the key and replace it in the

table then insert the new URL which is the mapping from the short code to the

long code and then we return that short code to the browser let's go ahead and

save that and jump into debug and see this working in the browser so I'm going

to basically refresh this page now that the storage code is there and as you can

see we get a short code return back to us

next I'm gonna use a feature built into Visual Studio called Cloud Explorer

that'll allow me to navigate to the local storage emulator and take a look

at what I've actually stored in my Azure storage table and this is locally on my

developer machine so I expand tables navigate to the URLs table which was

created for me automatically the first time I inserted a row and there you can

see I have the key that's incremented the ID as well as the

shortcode BNK that maps to the blog now that we have the ability to create a

short URL we need a new function to actually navigate so this function has a

route that takes the short URL as part of the route and we're going to give it

the function name go so that we can go to the short URL within the parameters

for this we've got the table so that we can access the table storage and we've

also mapped part of the route to the short URL parameter I've also added a

queue what I want to do is redirect as quickly as possible and so I'm going to

output the value of the shortcode to the queue so that I can update the count

later the code basically accesses the URL data if it has a match it adds the

shortcode to the queue and then it responds with a redirect so let's take a

look at that code in action we're going to launch debug again and this time

we've got a new set of APIs we've got "set" and "go" so I'm going to change the

URL after I add a new link this is a developer advocates link and I'll get

back a new code that's a BNL and then on the API I'm going to switch it from set

to go add the BNL to the end and hit enter and

what it should do is pick up the record and redirect me to the advocates page

now keep in mind that it did that quickly so that we did not update the

count yet instead we stored it in this queue that was automatically created for

us and here you can see the shortcode inside that queue

the next step is to add the code that'll process the queue so we paste that in and

there's basically a queue trigger that points to the queue name a table trigger

their table binding that points to the table name and it's a very simple

operation the table's accessed based on the shortcode if a result is found the

count is incremented and then that table entry is replaced we don't have to add

anything new because the queue already has an entry in it so we'll just go ahead

and debug and what you'll see after it starts running is that process counts

that's processing the queue executed because there was an entry in the queue from

before so we'll go into our Cloud Explorer and refresh the queue and we

see that the entry has been removed from the queue next we'll go to our table and

refresh the table and you can see that the developer advocates entry has been

incremented with a count of 1 because it's been accessed one time now that our

program is complete let's go ahead and publish it to Azure so I right click and

choose publish I'm gonna create a new function app I've got to give the app a

unique name and this is unique across all of Azure I give it a subscription

put it inside a resource group I can create a new one or pick an existing and

I also pick an app service plan and this indicates how that function app is going

to scale so I just picked a basic plan when I click create what it's going to

do is deploy these resources to Azure so the first step is creating the app

service plan and the function app so that it's ready to receive the code once

those are created along with a backing storage account the project is built and

then the project assets are deployed to the cloud now I can copy the endpoint to

the clipboard navigate to my web browser and perform the same thing first I'll

access the API and set it this time to my github repo that contains this code

so we get the short link BNK next thing I'll do is access the go API pass

the shortcode and confirm that it indeed redirects me to my repository will

navigate to short link and that's a wrap

What Is PTSD, Exactly? - Duration: 3:38.

Hey there!

Welcome to Life Noggin!

A huge misunderstanding around Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is that it's most prevalent

in military personnel and veterans, but based on calculations from government data, about

90% of people with PTSD have never been to war.

Instead, they are survivors of abuse and assault, car accidents, natural disasters, and other

forms of trauma.

This condition affects their everyday lives, which begs the question, What Is It Like To

Have PTSD?

In any given year, about 8 million Americans deal with this condition.

It can arise after significant trauma and cause flashbacks, severe anxiety, nightmares,

and extreme sadness.

People with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder can feel emotionally numb, even with those

they're close to.

They might have trouble sleeping, get startled easily, and lose interest in their passions.

It can affect someone's work, home and social life.

After a traumatic event, most people heal fully in a few weeks or months, but those

who don't can go on to develop PTSD.

The condition could arise right after the event or show up years later.

It can occur at any age and last anywhere from one month to many years.

One of the main defining characteristics of PTSD is the flashbacks, also called intrusive

memories.

These experiences seemingly bring the individual back to the moments of trauma.

While they may not visually see what they experienced, they feel it all over again.

These flashbacks can come out of nowhere or be brought on by a trigger.

For example, if you got shot outside a convenience store, a car backfiring may remind you of

the gunshot and bring you right back to that horrific moment.

People with PTSD may stay away from people, places or activities that remind them of the

trauma to avoid being triggered.

Other defense mechanisms come into play subconsciously with PTSD.

People may have trouble remembering major parts of a trauma and even repress memories

completely.

It's thought that this could be the brain's way of protecting someone from the traumatic

memories.

This could mean someone might not remember being shot outside that convenience store at all.

There are a number of differences in brains of people with PTSD.

The amygdala, which is tied to fear processing, and the left hippocampus, which is partially

responsible for memories, are smaller in people with PTSD.

It's also thought that the brain's Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal axis can't regulate stress hormones properly,

contributing to PTSD symptoms and causing intense waves of stress, fear, and depression.

Other physical effects of PTSD can be found in the neural, endocrine and immune systems.

This disorder has even been directly linked to increased incidences of autoimmune diseases,

cardiovascular disease, musculoskeletal disorders and infertility.

Anyone who has experienced a trauma is susceptible to PTSD.

But people with childhood trauma, poor support systems, or history of mental illness or substance

abuse are all at increased risk of developing PTSD...

As are women.

Women and young girls are 3 to 4 times more likely to experience PTSD than men and boys.

Women and girls are also more likely to experience sexual abuse or assault, which could be a

contributing factor to this huge influx of female PTSD.

Unfortunately, societal support for PTSD survivors is lacking, especially for those outside the

military, but getting help is crucial.

You can reduce the risk of developing PTSD after a traumatic event by seeking out support

from loved ones, support groups and professionals.

You will be okay.
