A Quinceañera is when a girl in Mexico turns 15 and they always have a huge party

well in Germany there are staying over in the houses of their boyfriends

so it's cool I think I would celebrate more 18th birthday...somehow, because then you can drink

Cascadia Explained - Duration: 4:40.

This is Oregon, this is Washington, this is British Columbia, and this is Sierra Leone,

but we don't really care much about that last one right now, because the first three

make up a region known as the Pacific Northwest, or, more relevant to this video, Cascadia.

So, what exactly is Cascadia, and what would it look like as a country?

Full disclosure, this video is actually being brought to you from Cascadia.

Now, while Cascadia does have a bit of an independence movement, it's really more

of a joke than a serious thing.

However, it does reflect both the area's more liberal values, and the fact that Oregon

and Washington, and British Columbia are more similar to each-other than, say, New York

and Ontario, but that's just because the US and Canada are huge countries.

So basically, we're going to be discussing this area, and where it would stand in the

world, if it were its own country.

Cascadia, though it could also include parts of Idaho, northern California, Alaska, Montana,

Wyoming and the Yukon Territory, is generally limited to just Oregon, Washington and British

Columbia, which should hopefully make estimations a bit easier.

Some more conservative advocates even put the division closer to the coasts, as the

eastern parts of Oregon and Washington are basically North Nevada.

First off, the area of Cascadia has a population of around 16 million, and an area of around

1.38 million square kilometers, making it comparable in population to Cambodia, and

slightly larger than Peru.

The largest cities in the area would be Seattle, Washington; Portland, Oregon; and Vancouver,

British Columbia (coincidentally the largest cities in each state/province).

Out of the ten biggest cities, four of them would be in Washington, four in British Columbia,

and only two would be in Oregon.

However, the capitals of each state/province are actually Victoria, BC; Olympia, WA; and

Salem, OR.

No capital has ever really been specified for Cascadia, with many speculating it would

be one of the three larger cities.

If I were to randomly pick a capital city, I would personally pick Olympia, as it's

already the capital of Washington, which is the largest of the three subdivisions and

sits right between the other two, making it somewhat more geographically advantageous.

Cascadia's GDP would be around $825 billion, roughly comparable to the Netherlands, and

with a nominal per capita GDP of $40,217, comparable to Israel.

Cascadia's Human Development Index is a very high 0.914, putting us between Liechtenstein

and Japan in 18th place.

Cascadia is home to many world-renowned brands, including Microsoft, Amazon, Nike, Telus,

Starbucks, Boeing, and several others.

Of course, we're kind of known for our small businesses, so most of these are based in

Seattle anyway.

The PNW is also famously liberal and left-wing leaning, with Oregon and Washington having

voted for the Democratic Party in every general election since 1988.

Of course, the states both have sizeable Republican-voting minorities in the east, but most of the overall

population lives closer to the coast, making for a kind of reverse-China.

British Columbia is also famously liberal and eco-friendly, though elections work a

bit different in Canada than in the US, making streak-measuring a bit more difficult.

Either way, it's certainly no doubt that an independent Cascadia would probably become

the next Sweden pretty quickly.

In actual history, Cascadia was actually administered briefly as the Oregon Country, effectively

a dispute between the British and the Americans, which was briefly jointly governed by both

sides.

The Americans had an extreme claim of up to the 54th parallel, and the British down to

the 42nd parallel, with a border with Mexico.

The border was eventually set at the much more sensible 49th parallel, and giving Vancouver

Island to Canada (but still completely missing Point Roberts).

The cities in the area are of course hugely economically interdependent on each-other,

with the Seattle, Portland and Vancouver metro areas being theorized to soon become a megalopolis,

comprising 17% of the Cascadian landmass, but 80% of its population.

The area from Vancouver, BC to Eugene, OR is already well connected, and for citizens

of either country, the border is actually pretty easy to cross.

Neither Canadians nor Americans have ever needed a visa to cross the common border,

and Canada and the US are famously friendly to each-other.

Obviously, this would probably never happen, especially given that it would effectively

be the result of two independence movements and one unification movement.

Also, US states cannot legally leave the US (the Civil War already got us to decide on

that issue) and if British Columbia were to leave, Canada would effectively lose all of

its access to the Pacific Ocean, so that's probably not happening.

Regardless, what do you think an independent Cascadia could look like down the road?

Would we be better off in our respective countries, or independent from the influences of Washington

and Ottawa?

I'm going to show you how to quickly transform photos into the look of beautiful watercolor paintings.

This is an update of watercolor tutorials I've done on earlier versions of Photoshop.

This version is quick and effective and will allow you to replace your subject without

having to redo most of the effects.

Click the Patreon card at the upper, right.

Open a color photo of someone that you'd like to use for this project.

I downloaded this one from Shutterstock.

To ensure that your results will similar to mine, check your photo's size and resolution

by going to Image and Image Size.

Its width and height should be within a few hundred pixels of mine and its resolution

should be 72 pixels per inch.

We'll make a selection around our subject, so we can separate it from its background.

There are many ways to do this and I covered them all in prior tutorials.

For this example, I'll use the Quick Selection Tool.

If you're using this tool as well, I find that a radius of approximately 10 pixels generally

works well for most images of this size and resolution.

Drag your tool over the inside of your subject to select it.

Do remove selections outside your subject, press and hold Alt or Option as you drag over those areas.

To check your selection, press "Q" on your keyboard to see it as a quick mask.

We'll refine the edges in a moment.

Press "Q" again to revert it back into a selection.

If your working on version CC 2015.5 or later, click the "Select and Mask" button or go to

Select and "Select and Mask".

However, if you working on an earlier version, click "Refine Edge".

I did in-depth tutorials on both of these filters, so if you want to watch them, I provided

their links below in my video's description.

If you prefer to use Refine Edge instead of "Select and Mask", Shift-click "Select and

Mask" to open Refine Edge.

Check, "Smart Radius".

This enables the tool to determine which edges are soft and hard.

To adjust the size of your tool, make sure your CapsLock key is off and press the right

or left bracket key on your keyboard.

Drag the tool over the edges of your subject

and adjust its size to cover a larger area such as fly-away hair.

Check "Decontaminate Colors"

to prevent the background colors from seeping into the edges of your subject.

I'll slide the amount all the way to 100%.

Output it to a "New Layer with Layer Mask".

This allows us, if we want to later, to refine the cutout even more by finessing the layer mask.

We'll convert our visible image into a Smart Object, so we can add filters to it non-destructively.

This will allow us to adjust or change any of the filters at any point, as well as replace

our subject with another without having to re-apply the effects.

Click the icon at the upper, right corner of the Layers panel and click "Convert to Smart Object".

Click the New Layer icon to make a new layer and fill it with any color.

The color is irrelevant since we'll be filling it with a pattern.

I'll fill it with my background color by pressing Ctrl or Cmd + Delete.

Open the watercolor paper texture I provided.

Go to Edit and "Define Pattern".

Double-click an empty area of the top layer to open its Layer Style window.

Click "Pattern Overlay".

The paper texture you saved as a pattern should be visible.

If you open your pattern thumbnails, the last one is the paper texture you saved.

I'll reduce its Scale to 23%, but feel free to adjust this amount to a scale that looks good to you.

Convert the paper texture into a Smart Object and change its Blend Mode to Multiply.

Make the cut-out subject active and go to Filter and Filter Gallery.

Open the Artistic folder and click "Dry Brush".

I'll make the Brush Size: 8, the Brush Detail: 10 and the Texture: 1, however, since each

photo has its own characteristics, feel free to adjust the size and detail if you like.

Go back to Filter, Blur and Smart Blur.

I'll make its Radius: 5, the Threshold: 100 and the Quality: "Low".

Double-click its Blending Options icon.

Change the Blend Mode to "Screen" and the opacity to 50%.

Go to Filter, Stylize and "Find Edges".

Click its Blending Options icon and change its Blend Mode to "Multiply".

Next, we'll increase its vibrancy and color saturation.

Click the Adjustment Layer icon and click "Vibrance".

I'll make the Vibrance: 50 and the Saturation: 30, however, every photo has its own amount

of color vibrance and saturation, so feel free to adjust these amounts.

Lastly, we'll use the watercolor brush set I provided to feather out the edges of our

subject and add some outside our subject.

Click the Layer Mask icon to make a layer mask next to your subject.

If you haven't already installed the brush set I provided, do so now.

If you're not sure how to install brushes or other presets, click the link in my video's

description below for the tutorial that I did on this subject.

Open your Brush Tool and Brush Picker.

Scroll to the bottom of the panel and you should see a folder labeled, "Watercolor Splatters (675 pixels)".

Open the folder.

I'll expand the window to see all of the brushes in this set.

You'll notice that all the brushes have a size of 675 pixels.

You can adjust the size of a brush by clicking on a brush and moving your cursor over your

image to see the brush.

Pressing Enter or Return to close the panel and press the right or left bracket key on your keyboard.

You can can also adjust its opacity and even change its angle.

In addition, you can compress it, as well.

Click on the bottom of your image to mask out those areas of your subject.

Feel free to adjust your brush's opacity, size and angle.

Pick various brushes to add variety of different strokes.

If want to add back areas of your subject, press "x" on your keyboard to invert your

foreground and background colors and then, click on your portrait.

Let's add some watercolor strokes over your portrait.

Make your subject active and make a new layer above it.

Pick a watercolor brush and press Enter or Return.

Press "i" on your keyboard to open the Eyedropper Tool and click on a color of your portrait

to pick up that color.

I'll reduce its size and its opacity.

Make sure your brush is active and add the stroke.

Pick another stroke, adjust its size and add that stroke.

To change the stroke's color, open your Eyedropper Tool and click on another color of your portrait.

Open back your Brush Tool and click on your image.

Continue to add them until you're happy with your portrait.

Why do I keep joining chorus battles?

Because I'm the server owner of Youtaite Inn

On occasion, I do have some really good friends that I met through that server

I mean, they're on the newer side

And they're like, "Let's do this!"

And I'm like, "Okay!"

Why not! Friendship!

[Eva] So how and when did you join the community?

[Jae] I was on my laptop and I checked my Soundcloud one day, and then

I had this message in my inbox and

I saw this purple-haired figure

And it said "Howl"

Yeah, and I'm like

"Who's this dude?" and then he's like

Hello, my name is Howl!

I'm putting together a collaboration of some sorts and yadda yadda yadda

[Eva] Do you have a favorite memory in the community?

[Vulkain] The people I met, I guess

I would say, first youtaite meeting in Japan Expo [Paris]

And then first youtaite meeting at Anime Expo

It was in 2016

[hazael] We did Yonjuunana for my friend Seto's birthday

And it was just really a

It was my very first experience collaborating and singing a formal cover

And it was just

It's a very special cover to me

[sho] A friend asked to do a OtomeCB drinking game

But keep in mind: I can't drink

So I bought two-- four liters of coke

You take a drink for every single time there's an animation error

And I went through 3 liters in one night

[Christian V.] The majority of our teammates left

However this one person just came in

And did a miracle and I couldn't feel more proud of them

[Kuraiinu] One was doing a chorus battle with A Latte Trouble

We had a lot of fun and made a lot of great things

I still rewatch our entries 'cause they make me that happy

And then Cypher was also another great memory

'Cause it was just a very chill group

We made a lot of really great entries and

Vocally, I felt like I fit in with everybody

So it made me really happy

[Zal] The summer chorus battles are always heated

I just love the amount of work and passion that people put into it honestly

[Coda] I'm really old

I was one of the people that joined the first chorus battle

[Eva] Wow

[Coda] Yeah! So

So it was probably that

Like how we didn't know what we were doing

And now I'm looking at the later entries and I'm just like

Holy crap!

It seems so professional now

And it really blows my mind as someone who's been there from the beginning

[Hinoe] It was when I met fome for the first time!

[Hinoe] He patted me on the head

And I was like, "This senpaiship is real"

And someone confessed that I was their biggest inspiration

And I was the reason why they started opening up to people

That makes me all squishy

Thinking bigger is one of these things that's banded around you know.

Grant Cardone talks about thinking 10X. And here's the thing. He's absolutely right.

We spend too much time thinking too small based on, perhaps

what we knew when we grew up or looking around and not wanting to kind of

stand above the parapet. But you're doing your world a disservice by not thinking big enough.

Think about the impact you could have if you 10Xed your income.

Not only that you could have a great comfortable life for you and your family,

but you would have surplus cash.

Which you could use to impact the world in a positive way.

So whatever you're doing just now, think bigger.

Just try thinking 10 times bigger because here's the thing.

If you set a goal for 2 hundred thousand dollars, and you 10Xed that to 2 million dollars,

you might still get to a million and that's still a 5 times more than 2 hundred thousand.

Thinking bigger has a very very massive impact on how you go about

every decision you make in your business.

Just start thinking 10 times bigger.
