Waching daily Dec 31 2018

Hi, my name is Jose Gabriel Izaguirre Prieto

And I am from Caracas, Venezuela. You can call me Gabriel.

As a kid, I was very shy I didn't like to go out. I didn't talk much. I didn't like sports...

Like many kids I grew up with my eyes glued to the television, enjoying mainly children cartoons, feature films...

And that was a huge influence for my art. The only true way I found

to express myself,

really speak my mind, was art. I drew all the time, like,

cyborgs,

hybrids, monsters...

The limitless and mostly dynamic worlds portrayed in media where my escape from my dull and mundane childhood.

I wanted to do the same for other people.

I took classes at art schools in my country

I learnt how to draw, how to paint,

how to sculpt with clay...

I was never a huge fan of school

But I was lucky enough to study in one where theatre classes were mandatory.

There is where I developed my passion for acting and storytelling.

At 9 I wrote several comic strips and storyboards for the movies

I had in mind. Even though at the time I didn't even know what a storyboard was.

Then I started writing theatre plays, tales, songs...

The most common themes were humor love and death...

At the age of 15 I started taking guitar lessons.

I learnt the basics of harmony to be able to play

myself the music for the dozens of song lyrics I had written at that time.

I even played in a few heavy metal bands back in the day.

At the age of 16

I started to write my first science fiction novel: Sopa de Anguila.

It was inspired by a theatre play

I wrote and directed years prior to that. Starring the characters from the comic strips

I drew as a child and displaying an obscene sense of humor.

At 18 I graduated high school and then moved to Ireland

to learn English

I learnt English because

my parents wanted me to

They didn't have the opportunity themselves

to learn English

They knew that at this point in history,

this globalized world,

You need a second language. That's it, you need it. especially English.

English is worldwide like the business language.

Dublin is also where I started writing my second book: Mardito Pizzero.

After finishing Mardito Pizzero, I wrote the sequel to Sopa de Anguila

My passion project that I am planning to adapt into scripts for animated series.

When I came back to Venezuela

I made two voice dubbing curses becoming able to dub cartoons just like the ones I saw as a kid into Spanish

(Speaking Spanish)

Having acquired all these skills throughout the years,

I finally knew what career I wanted to study.

For me the logical step was to study Film

Film is like the ultimate form of art because it includes all of the other mediums.

I Knew studying Film in my country wasn't an option for the political and economical situation.

It wasn't easy to leave my home country, but I was ready and determined to grow some and turn my dreams into goals.

After having a few meetings with my parents we decided in which university I was going to study film: Full Sail.

So here I am in America. working on making my dreams come true.

I know it ain't going to be easy. It never is.

But I have time.

There is always time.

PREVIEW | Going LIVE New Year's Day! | Kaye Kittrell - Duration: 3:00.

Hey, everyone! Some of you missed my live video with my son on Christmas Eve and I

just wanted to give you a quick reminder, or let you know, that I am doing another

live video on New Year's Day at 11 a.m. Pacific Standard Time. That's January 1st.

Now, if there are football games or something on TV, just pause it, and check

out my live show. I'm going to have my guest, Patti Hayden, with me, and you can

ask her questions about high desert gardening in Las Vegas. I'll answer any

questions that you have for me. I just want my whole Late Bloomer family

to come together for a few minutes on New Year's Day, so we all have a great

send-off for 2019. 2018 has been a real challenge for me, as many of you know, and

I am hoping for much better things in 2019. You know, Linden, my cat, she'll

make a special appearance. She's still with us. Let's see, I think that's, oh yeah,

and you know what? Three wonderful fans have made a donation to my channel so

that they can get a custom handmade Late Bloomer Gardener mug. And if you want

one, I am doing an initial offering of twelve and see what the interest is. And

many of you mentioned you were interested, but you have not yet made a

donation. This is how I'm handling the first twelve. I am doing it by donations

so I don't have to get involved in all the sales tax, and all that kind of stuff.

If you make a $40 donation to my PayPal for my channel, that puts about

six dollars into the Late Bloomer fund and the rest goes to

shipping and handling and making the mug. And so, if you want to be one of the

first 12, you've got to get those donations in. So thanks so much for doing that, for

your support all year, and I look forward to seeing you on New Year's Day LIVE. If

you enjoyed this video, please watch these, and don't forget to follow me on

Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, and I'll see you in the next video.

How to make a Water Resistant Mobile Phone Cover - Duration: 25:06.

hi and welcome to Darvanalee Designs Studio my name's Nicole Reed and today

we're going to be making this cute little water-resistant and mobile phone

cover for those summer days where you'll be hot besides a pool or on the beach so

let's get started okay so there's just a few things that you're going to need

today the first thing is you need to head over to our blog and there you will

find the cutting instructions and the supply list that you need but I'm going

to run through a few things that we need today as well so you need some wonder

Clips very important because we're actually working with vinyl today we

also need a rotary cutter some matching threads some thread snips you're also

going to need a Teflon foot or some tissue paper if you don't have a Teflon

foot you're also going to need some thin vinyl okay because we're able to use the

phone through this vinyl still it's just to keep the water in the sand off if

we're at the beach you need some out of fabric as I said a fat quarter will be

perfect for this you need some foam so in foam such as Mathilda's iron or basil

and you're also going to need a product called heat and bond is the brand and

it's an iron-on vinyl so what this does is turn any fabric any quilting cotton

that you've got into a vinyl fabric so I'm going to show you how to use that as

I said the cutting instructions for the measurements and everything are over on

the blog and there is a print off for you over there just click on that link

and you can print it off straight from Google so this is the so we're going to

talk a little bit today about heat and bond vinyl I first come across this a

couple of years ago and I use it for my toiletry bags mostly when I make them

anything that's going to be near water so it comes with full instructions on

the back and we do have this listed on our website it comes and goes all the

time it's very popular so if there's none there just check back there'll be

more stock coming in soon so yeah it just comes in a two-yard sheet of it and

you and just cut it from there it's in a

roll and as I said it comes with all the instructions on the back so basically

what I'm going to do now is I'm going to show you how to use it okay so you can

see here I've cut my piece of fabric and it is measuring seven and a half inches

by eight inches and the violet that I'd on vinyl is the same measurement so you

can see here that it comes with a piece of paper on the back it's gridded and

then one side is shiny well that is the side of the shot the shiny side is the

vinyl and you're going to need your iron and you're also going to need an ironing

pad and basically all you're going to do is peel off the vinyl off the the sheet

of paper so you just peel the corner off and it just comes off and one side is

slightly sticky it's just a little bit tacky it's not that sticky you that

it'll stick to everything it's just a little bit tacky that goes down onto the

right side of the fabric just like so and then we take this throat on this

piece of paper and you can see that it still has a bit of a shiny side to it

it's just picking up that the light there we put that side place down and

the gridded side of the paper up so now we can use this sheet to cover our piece

of vinyl that is covering our fabric and you want to make sure that everything is

lining up all your raw edges are lining up and then we just take our iron and we

just press that on you just do that for about 20 seconds depending on your iron

and how hot it is this some iron actually gets quite hot and then

basically all we do is we just grab that paper we let it cool just slightly and

you just grab that paper and you peel that back and you can see there that the

I don't know if that's picking out you can see there that the vinyl is now

adhered to the fabric so that has now made it water-resistant not waterproof

but water-resistant so now we're ready to use that in our project so all you're

going to do after you've done that is you're just going to take your short

edges and you're going to fold them in half and then you're just going to

finger press it okay if you need to press it again you

just put that piece of paper straight back over it again you can use baking

paper and also an application sheets but I just use the piece of paper that comes

with it so that then makes a nice crease and we can set that aside next you're

going to make your binding so I've just asked you in the pattern to cut two

strips off your fat caught up at two and a quarter and then you're going to

basically turn this into a bias binding so you fold it in half first and press

all the way along then you fold in one side to that Center mark and then fold

in to the other and then fold it over onto itself like so and then you just

press it into place once you've done that you can set that aside so you can

see there I've just joined the two pieces and I've created my bias binding

so we're going to set that aside next you're going to get your piece of foam

and there's not much sewing going on right now but this is all the prep work

for it so basically what you're going to do

you're going to take your piece of foam and then you're going to take your piece

of vinyl fabric that you've put the vinyl on and it's cool now and you'll

feel that it's it's got a little bit of structure to it so what we're going to

do is we're going to take our piece of foam and we're going to line our

straight edge up on that crease that we've created and you can see here

mine's slightly bigger that's okay I'll just cut that off and even that up in

just a second it was just a scrap piece out of my scrap basket and then

basically I just want to make sure that that foam is is being covered by that

fabric okay and that's when I'm going to grab some clips and I'm going to clip

that foam and I'm making sure that it's nice and snug up into that crease then

we clip that foam into place like so and over this side it's all even so I can

click that into place as well and what this is going to do is just hold it

everything nice and even for me so you can see here I've got a little bit of

excess foam here and a little bit of excess foam here at

always better to have a little bit extra than not enough okay and then I'm just

going to grab my scissors and without cutting the fabric I'm just going to get

rid of that excess foam okay now we'll just take a couple more clips and

that'll hold in place because we can't find this we're not using fusible foam

today we're just using the sewing stuff and that's nice and perfect if you find

that it's puckering a little bit just flip it over and lay it down flat and

give it a good straightening out with your hands and that'll make it all set

really good alrighty so now what we're going to do is we're going to get our

piece of vinyl now you can notice that our piece of vinyl is the same width and

it's just a little bit longer and all we're going to do with this now is clip

that into place so where you put your Clips we're just going to clip that like

so I'm still going to leave these clips in here because that's holding the foam

in place until we're ready to sew okay so now that we've done that we're going

to head over to the sewing machine and we're just going to sew that vinyl into

place so now is the time to put on your Teflon foot or grab your tissue paper if

you're using tissue paper and then we're just going to sew 1/8 of an inch down

these sides here so down this side around and up and that's just going to

secure our vinyl into place ok so you can see now that I've sewn that vinyl on

okay and it's gone on to what looks like the back so now you look like you've got

a little pouch and this final flap is just going to come over but first before

we do that we know that our vinyl is not going to move but we do need to add our

binding on so basically all you're going to do is you're going to encase your

binding so how we that is we just open it up and we're

going to lay it on one short side and then about two inches down from well

yeah one and a half to two inches down from where the fold of the edge is just

place a clip and that's where we're going to start and then you're just

going to sew it down like you would normally sew a binding we're even going

to have mitered corners on this okay so I'm just going to swap out the Teflon

foot and I'm going to use a bit of tissue paper because I find that a

little bit easier and I'm just going to put my quarter inch foot on and now what

I'm not actually going to do is I'm going to just add a little bit of tissue

paper to the bottom and it is about the same size as the project that I'm

working on so now what we're going to do is we're going to line up our raw edges

and about to it as I said about one and a half to two inches down from the

weather telephone fabric starts I'm going to put my binding so I'm going to

open it up and I'm just going to do a couple of stitches and then go back up

with stitches and then I'm going to sew it down to the corner

and at about a quarter of an inch out from that corner within the needle in

the down position I'm going to actually now sew off the edge so I'll lift my

presser foot up and I'm just going to turn it so it's like the 45 then I'm

going to sew off the edge and you don't need to reverse here or anything just

sew off the edge then cut your threads

then what you're going to do just like you do a normal binding on a quilt

you're going to flip it up so you're going to flip it up on itself so you get

what looks like a little triangle just here and then you come back on itself

aligning the raw edges up on the edge so what this will do is still give us our

mitered corner then pop it back underneath the presser foot with your

tissue paper underneath and this just helps because of the vinyl it might grab

so we can see that that's all lining up and then we just sew a quarter inch all

the way to the next

and stopping about quarter of an inch away with the needle in the down

position lifting it up turning it slightly bring it back down and sewing

off the edge okay so we've down to this edge now and

again we're just going to fold it up on itself and then back down making sure

everything is a lining up with your raw edge so you can see that it's all

aligning with the little pocket that we're creating and then just back under

the machine and we're going to sew quarter-inch again no need to reverse or

anything like that now we're coming up to the edge where

we're going to go onto the vinyl our little vinyl flap when you get to the

edge of the pocket I always like to just do a little bit of a reverse there so

I'm just coming up to that now and I'm just going to do a reverse and then

continue on and again you're just lining up the edge of the vinyl with the edge

of the binding and when you get to that corner at the quarter-inch mark again

you just lift your presser foot up lay it back down again and stitch off and

you're going to repeat that step that you've done at each corner

okay so we're up to our last corner and now what we're going to do is we're just

going to stitch probably about an inch down just do it our back stitch remove

that 1/2 clip take our little pouch out of the machine and now what we're going

to do is we're going to join our two pieces okay so we've

just everything on there and now we need to join our two pieces so you can see

here that I started about about two inches down from this here okay and I've

got all this excess so what I'm going to do is I'm just going to trim that off to

give me a little bit more room to play with

so I'll take about an inch off and then what I'm going to do is I'm going to

grab my quilting ruler and I'm just going to line that edge up on the

quarter inch mark and I'm going to grab my marking tool and I just use a

friction pin for that so I'm just gonna on the quarter inch mark I'm just going

to line make a line there and then I'm going to lay this on top and I might

have to just put a you might have to put a little wonder clip there just to hold

it in place then I'm going to without pulling it real tight I'm just going to

lay it on and you should be able to do it depending on the fabric that you

you've used you should be able to see a line under there so basically I'm going

to mark that line just like so and this is just a guide for me and I'm just

going to grab my scissors and I'm not going to cut right on the line I'm just

going to cut just on the other side of the line and then what I'm going to do

is I'm going to join my pieces together so I just put them right sides together

and I make sure that those lines are lining up and then I'm just going to sew

a quarter inch seam allowance you may have to put a pin in this to hold it

together just like so pop the pin in there okay so I'm going to hit to the

sewing machine and I'm going to sew a quarter inch seam allowance

okay so I've sewn that and all I'm going to do is I'm just going to think of

press that open just to get rid of some of that bulk and now we can finish off

sewing down to where we started okay so now it's time to roll our binding over

so all you're going to do is basically make sure that it was open and then

you're going to fold in that edge and then you're just going to fold it over

and you're going to to line up your binding so through the

vinyl you can see if it's gone too far so if it's gone too far you can we'll

see it like that if it's too short you will see it on this side so what you

want to do is line it up so it's nice and even and then grab your wonder clips

and just pop them on and that's what I love about 1/2 clips it's really good

for working with vinyl and you can see on the front here that the mitered

corners are going really well so what I do is I just go up and I make sure that

it's going nice and flat like I would with a normal bind in and then I just

bring that over and then I just pop another clip in and I do that all the

way around making sure that it's all even ok so you can see there that I've

just lined it all up and now what I'm going to do is I'm going to stitch along

here about an eighth of an inch you may or may not need your Teflon foot for

this but because we are sewing on to on the fabric and we're using an eighth of

an inch it should catch and it shouldn't stick to your machine but just have a

test of it and see if it does I'm picked a couple stitches if it does and put a

piece of tissue paper underneath and then you'll be right to go okay so we've

sewn down on our binding and that's all in place so now what we need to do is

get rid of all our threads and everything like that clean it all up and

then we are ready to put in our snaps so you can see here that we've got a little

see-through pocket and our mobile phone will fit in there but so it doesn't fall

out we want to actually have some snaps on the back so then that way you can

still use this whenever you're near water or anything like that so basically

what we're going to do now is add our snaps on so basically what I want to do

is have three of the female part and three of the male part so there's the

three male and I'll need six of the heads

that's six of those and then I need some female parts so now what we're going to

do is we're going to use the binding as the first place that we put our snaps

and I'm going to use the male part of the snap so I need to grab myself three

heads and the three male snaps and the male ones are going to pick it up

actually have a little risen part on them so I'm not sure if you can see that

or not that you can see there that that's got the it's got like a little

raised part and the female one actually has like a divot in it so they fit into

each other snugly alrighty so what you'll need for this is something that

you can poke a hole with I've just got a tailor's all and I'm going to use that

and I just eyeball this basically I'm going to have a snap in the center and

then I'll have one off to each side and I think I'll come in about half an inch

on each side so you can grab your quilting ruler and your marking device

and that might make it a little bit easier for you

from where the binding ends I'm going to come in half an inch and just in the

center of the binding I'm just going to put a little dot like so and then the

same over on this side so you can see there that I've just come in half an

inch from where the binding ends here ok so then all I'm going to do is take my

tailors all and right where I've made that mark I'm going to stick that

through

and then I'm going to place the head of the snap through that hole get one of

the mail pieces pop that on and then I'm just going to grab my setting tool and

just give it a light squeeze not too hard because you don't want to snap it

but you do want the prong to get crushed down so you can see in there it's

actually crushed down and then I'm going to repeat that on the other side exactly

same process

put the male component on grab my tool

make sure it's all centered and crush it down so now I can see that that's where

they're going to sit and then I'll just eyeball the center which looks to be

about there again I will place the mark

and make a hole

okay so that's our three mo of components done so I want this to be a

little bit snug and this was where it gets a little bit tricky when it comes

to putting it the next one's on so I'm bringing that down and you might want to

put your phone in to make sure that it's still going to fit and that's nice and

snug now okay and I can see that that's going to sit there nice and snug so what

I'm going to do is just get in my marking device and just make a little

bit of a mark around about the center of that mail and you can see there that

I've just made some marks now you will have to be careful because it will rub

off and what I do is I just get my all and I put my hands in and just till I

feel that point coming through and then I move it off to the side because I

don't want to go through the front of my vinyl so you can see there I'm just

protecting it it's just come through and not sure if that's picking it up on

camera or not and see that near my finger there and I haven't come through

that front vinyl so I get my another head and I pop that inside and I'm going

to come in from the inside and then the prong of this is going to come to the

outside of the back of the little pouch so you can see there it's just come

through just there okay and then I just get a female part and I pop that on now

I don't try to go in this way with my tool because you can see it's going to

stop me I just come in from the side and just give it a gentle squeeze not too

hard okay and then that one is in and I'm going to repeat it for the opposite

side now I have to do the center one so again I do exactly the same thing as I

done for all the rest I make the hole

then I get my head of my snap and come back up through that hole wiggling it

around till I come through the foam as well

okay that's come through I get the female part pop that on and then coming

up from the bottom I will have to line it up now it is a little bit tricky

coming up from the bottom you will have to sort of fold it a little bit but you

can see there I've just folded it a little bit and my black part of the tool

is over the head of the snap and I can just squeeze that it is done okay so now

we can pop our phone in and smooth our vinyl over close our snaps and there you

go you can actually use your phone and you can see that that's just working

I walk in shadows of the past Ten thousand voices are calling me

And I ask myself: "Is this real or just a dream?"

Spotlights are shining in my eyes I can feel the synergy, it makes me whole

So I ask myself: "Will I turn my world around?"

Then I brace myself, like a king that's waiting to be crowned

I can be exceptional, sensational for you And I could be acceptable, expendable to you

There's so much static in the air Power and eloquence enchanting all

Then I ask myself: "has it only just begun?"

Into the realm of the unknown I live the fantasy inside my head

Then I ask myself: "It this the zenith of my soul?"

Yes I ask myself: "It's this the only thing that makes you whole?"

I can be exceptional, sensational for you And I could be acceptable, expendable to you

I won't deny the lies and deception I've sought, I've learned, I've grown

And I can be exceptional, sensational for you

And I could be acceptable, expendable to you Yes I can be exceptional, invincible for you

But I might be delusional, pretend in all I do

Hail, my friends!

I know, my schedule is all messed up.

I am trying hard to get it organized again.

One video a week still stands.

Also, after shooting this video I noticed that I had my camera on the wrong shutter

speed.

I was so upset about that.

That's why the frames are a little bit weird.

But I just wanted to acknowledge that and say that one of the rules of productivity

is: It's better done than perfect.

I also wanna give a huge thank you to my patrons, my amazing patrons.

We just crossed one more goal, which was to get enough resources to get me new filming

equipment, such as lighting.

Next goal is to start hiring people on a freelance basis to help me with the channel.

I am pretty excited about that one.

So if you liked this cover, you will probably like the Helloween covers I did as well.

Here's a playlist with all of them.

I hope to see you next time.

Until then, my friends, have yourselves an epic day!

Top 10 Indie Games of 2018 - Duration: 17:59.

Welcome to Indieformer, I'm Josh and today we're taking a look back at the best indie

releases of 2018.

This year has been phenomenal for indie games, and I've been pulling my hair out trying

to decide an order for these games.

Each of the upcoming games has something that makes them special and one might suit you

better than others.

Think of this more as an overall top 10 instead of a definitive top 10.

The numbers in this list don't mean a lot, and it's more a personal choice than anything,

but enough of that - let's get into it.

It's always a little worrying when any game studio releases a sequel to such an acclaimed title.

Indie studios are usually more trusting but you never really know.

Guacamelee! 2 released in August this year and it was everything you loved about the original all over again.

Guacamelee! 2 is stylish, has tight controls and is better in almost every way than the original.

Built on a new engine spurts more life into the game, along with a larger 'Mexiverse'

to experience.

One aspect Drinkbox Studios really nailed on the head was the challenging nature of

the game.

It's difficult, but never unfair to the player, and requires you to learn the mechanics

and get better at the game.

Along with this, from start to end there's very little repetition and you'll enjoy

every moment this game has to offer.

They've also put more emphasis on the chicken so it's actually a viable option throughout

the game as well.

Currently, there's 1 DLC for the game with another expected to release soon, so there

should be plenty of content to keep you busy with this legendary metroidvania.

An almost MMORPG-like experience but for single player.

If you like the structure of an MMO but without all the people, then CrossCode is definitely

for you.

In one of the most balanced and fun games of the year, CrossCode has character trees,

items, quests, followers - you name it.

With 30-80 hours of content, the developers have really packed a lot in.

7 unique areas, 120 enemy types including over 30 boss fights, with over 60 music tracks

to accompany them.

One point to touch on is that CrossCode has a lot of puzzles in it, it's not what makes

up the game, but if you don't like puzzles then you probably won't like CrossCode - do

you get what I'm saying?

That being said though, the puzzles are masterfully designed and push the creative ceiling.

For the amount of content that's included in CrossCode, you could expect some let downs,

but it's hard to pick on something.

The story is great throughout, the characters are memorable and loveable, the combat never

disappoints, the music isn't amazing, but it's good.

This game will appeal to a lot of people, so if you're on the fence, don't get this

game if; you don't like puzzles and you don't want to have to think about attacking

an enemies weak spots, button mashing won't get you far in CrossCode.

5 years of work went into RimWorld, and it shows.

You might look at the visuals and say 'it took 5 years to develop a game that looks

like this?'

You don't purchase RimWorld because of the fancy graphics, you buy it because you want

to be invested in a story.

RimWorld is constructed around giving the player the best story possible.

It's not about winning or losing, it's about drama, tragedy, and comedy that goes

on in your colony.

The AI Storyteller analyses your game and puts in situations that will make for a good

story - whether that be a deer that's gone wild and attacks your colony, or a band of

travellers passing by your town.

They're on the more tame side of storytelling.

I kept my storyteller to be quite lenient with me, and it was still interesting.

From my whole colony getting hyperthermia to leaving one left, then to be re-joined

by a random traveller who happened to be his wife, to then him dying the night he was reconnected

with his wife, it's all a rollercoaster of emotions that make for a great and memorable

experience.

Along with the story, there's management and a bit of learning to do.

For the most part, your colony will look after themselves, but you'll need to point them

in the right direction.

If you want to spend countless hours in a game, here you go.

Releasing in December of 2018, GRIS came out hard and strong; solidifying itself as a game

to remember.

For many this game hit a soft point, pulling on emotions and giving an experience they

would not forget.

The beautiful animations and sound design paired with the simplistic gameplay made you

focus more on the story than anything else.

The gameplay is good, don't get me wrong, it's challenging enough to keep you interested.

But with the way I experienced it, the story is what I was interested in.

There's no text, no speaking, nothing obvious to let you know what's going on.

GRIS is all visuals, and it leaves all the room to be interpreted to how the player sees it.

I could go on forever about the beauty of this game, but this isn't a podcast - you

can see exactly what I'm talking about in front of you.

Think of GRIS like a painting.

You can skim past as you walk by or stop and appreciate all the finer details the artist

has put in.

Layer that with animations, music and gameplay, all of the same quality, and you have something special

something like GRIS.

Some of the most challenging games to tackle are that of the open world and survival.

So many have tried and failed, but many succeed too.

Subnautica is currently one of the best games you can explore on the market.

Being stranded in a foreign ocean with alien creatures, Subnautica will keep you busy for

weeks.

It's a game that, if you have tried so many games but they just don't fill the void, Subnautica

is the filler.

It's something you get into and can see the love poured in by the developers.

It's got beautiful scenery, a nice story and more than enough for the players who want

more than a survival grind.

One emotion that Subnautica captures perfectly is that feeling of dread.

You know that feeling when you're in the ocean and you look down over the reef and

it plummets into darkness?

Yeah, I get chills just thinking about it.

When a game can actually elicit those fears from you, you know it's good.

With upgrades and crafting to get you deeper and deeper into exploration, Subnautica has

a lot of depth (pun intended).

The eerie sound effects with the always unsure feeling of what's around the corner, Subnautica

doesn't hold your hand and leaves it to you to survive.

From the makers of FTL, Into the Breach has been coined by many as one of the best strategy

games ever made.

It's a turn-based strategy game that once you think you've mastered it, turn on hard

mode and you'll feel like a noob again.

Into the Breach is a game about repositioning or removing pieces in an 8x8 board, really

it's kind of just like chess.

This game will punish you for a bad move and reward you for a good one.

So concentration and planning are key.

With that in mind, this isn't really for the casual player.

Into the Breach isn't the game you put on and play a few rounds of, it's far more

complicated and it's why I said it's 'kind of like chess'.

With chess, you can somewhat recover from a mistake or bad move, not here.

Into the Breach has less replayability than FTL in that you need to complete challenges

to unlock different characters so you can play the game in a different way.

There could be up to 30 hours of playtime for you, or 1 hour, depending on how much

you experiment.

The games are short, being under 5 minutes each, but some are harder to figure out than

others and will require another go.

I don't want to lessen the quality of this game compared to the others on this list,

I just want you as the viewer to know that if you're considering it, just be cautious.

If you like taking your time, where planning and thinking actually help with the gameplay

then Into the Breach may be a good game to pick up.

Arguably the biggest indie game to release this year, Dead Cells has taken the year by

storm.

A RougeVania, a mixture of roguelites and metroidvanias.

Your aim is to get as far as you can before you die and unlock as many items as possible,

then do it again.

Dead Cells doesn't really add a lot to the genre, other than that it's really well-made.

It's fun, casual, challenging, it's pretty much got every quality for any player.

You don't need to be good at these types of games to play Dead Cells, because by nature,

you'll get better as you play.

One small but important feature for me is that it always shows the items and what button

they're bound to.

I've come back to play this with multiple weeks in between and always forgot the controls,

to simply boot the game up with everything in front of me, it's always easy getting

back into the groove.

Every bit of this game has been considered carefully and it shows, because it's one

the best games of 2018.

Dead Cells is a game that tough not to love, I'd give it go.

What every platformer aims to be.

Celeste has set its mark in the indie world and is still being talked about as one of

the best indie games ever.

Releasing at the beginning of 2018 in January, Celeste comes from the creators of hit indie

Towerfall.

There are no faults with Celeste.

If you want a tightly controlled platformer with enough challenge and puzzles to keep

your brain going then Celeste is the game.

It has simple dialogue and doesn't take itself too seriously, and the controls are

easy to learn.

Admittedly I had troubles using the keyboard controls as I just couldn't grasp the keys,

I'd use a controller if you have one.

It's great for the casual player, and also the hardcore.

With the game counting your deaths, there's room for you to improve everywhere.

The controls are intuitive and easy to learn, and if you get stuck just open up the keyboard

layout.

Flawless animations and loveable characters, Celeste has character and will make an impression

on you.

If you're one for the platformer then Celeste is a must have in your library because it's

one of the most well-designed games ever made.

Creator of Papers, Please Lucas Pope released Return of the Obra Dinn in 2018.

In probably the most visually striking game of the year, you play as a detective figuring

out what happened to the crew members of the ship, Obra Dinn.

This game is not easy by any means and it'll take you over 10 hours to figure out what

happened.

Exploring this 1-bit game may sometimes make you feel like you're just not getting it,

but then moments later like a genius.

Return of the Obra Dinn is a reminder at how versatile games can be as an entertainment

medium.

From minimal graphics to grand music, you can make everything work together as long

as there's a story tying it up.

The music in Lucas' games is always memorable.

Everyone knows the Papers, Please theme, and Obra Dinn is right up there with it.

The bells, strings and drums all come together and put you in the mood for some detective

work, it's unfortunate it's not a downloadable soundtrack, but you can find it on YouTube.

Detective games can be a struggle sometimes with developers purposefully making it difficult

so you spend longer playing, but Lucas makes everything quite fair.

As long as you're paying attention, then you'll be able to figure out what happened

to Obra Dinn's 60 crew members.

The only real downside to this game is that it can only be experienced once.

Once everyone's fates have been figured out then that's it, game over.

In some ways though, it's better to have a game that definitively ends, and you remember

the one experience you had.

Having to compete with Dead Cells by releasing in the same month, The Messenger also released

to critical acclaim.

It may not have reached as far as Dead Cells, but it holds its own in other ways.

Beautifully animated 8-bit art which transitions seamlessly into 16-bit throughout the game.

Aside from a little bit of backtracking, everything about The Messenger is perfect.

There's a great story, the mechanics are fluid and it'll leave you wanting more.

The balancing and pacing is great - the boss fights aren't too long and they're creative.

The writing is top notch that gives the game personality and does it in far fewer words

than most.

It is worthy of being put in the same league as Ninja Gaiden and will be remembered for

years to come as what can be achieved in platformers.

The Messenger will make you want to master its mechanics because once you do, you'll

feel like a ninja moving through the levels seamlessly and completing tough challenges

will be all the more rewarding when you can comprehensively use your ninja combos.

This is by far one of the best action platformers from 2018,

and I'd even say ever made.

And also, you've got to appreciate that music.

If those games don't capture what indie games are, then I don't know what does.

2018 was a year to remember for the indies, and I'm only more excited to see what 2019 brings.

Thanks so much for watching my videos this year and supporting Indieformer.

I'll be back next year with the same indie content you love, so happy holiday and I'll

see you in January.

Weekly Entertainment Wrap Up #104 [CC] - Duration: 7:53.

Hi, YouTube, it's Kathy, and this is my Weekly Entertainment Wrap Up for December 23rd to 29th.

This week I read 4 books, I rewatched 1 movie, I watched 2 shows, and I listened to 2 books.

First this week, I finished Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg.

I read this for one of my two local book clubs, and finding out that Cece from Problems of a Book Nerd

did a whole thesis about the woman-centric storytelling in this actually made me enjoy it better.

Initially, I felt the story jumped around a little too much for my enjoyment, and some of

the dates didn't quite add up.

Additionally, the story was set to have a chapter on my exact birth date but then

skipped that week, so of course I feel slighted about the dates in this book.

This story features characters set in the present, which was mid-1980's at a nursing

home, and the past, which was several decades from the early 20th century.

Mrs. Threadgoode finds herself visiting weekly with Evelyn Couch, who is at the nursing home

and escaping visiting with her mother-in-law.

Mrs. Threadgoode tells her stories from her youth in Whistle Stop, Alabama.

In that section of the story, we have disputes, a neighbourhood newsletter, at least one murder,

accidental deaths, a train robber, and a female\female relationship.

Although this book had some progressive views in terms of race relations for a novel published

in 1987, I am hesitant to praise it, given there were also some "positive stereotypes"

used by the narrator, and even those can be harmful representation.

Although I felt it went a little long, I did enjoy it.

The other book I read for a book club this week was If You Come Softly by Jacqueline Woodson.

This is the first book for the Life's Library book club, which is hosted by John Green and

Rosianna Halse Rojas via DFTBA.com.

This is a subscription service where a new book will be sent out every 6 weeks or so, and

members have access to a Discord server to discuss the book, as well as a podcast where

the hosts give their views on the book.

You can also get the digital package, which doesn't include the books but does include the

introduction from the hosts as to why they chose the book, as well as all the other

digital perks.

This way, you can search out the book in your local shop or library and not have to worry

about postal delays.

This is absolutely not sponsored, by the way; I just wanted you to know about it because

I will be talking about books from this service about every six weeks or so, and I'm not

going to say the same spiel every time.

Just wanted to say it's out there if you're interested.

This is a very short novel told in dual perspective between Ellie, an upper class Jewish girl,

and Jeremiah, the African American son of two famous parents.

They meet when they both transfer to the same school, and through the slim chapters,

we get a deep dive into their family lives and their instant attraction.

This was published 20 years ago and still has relevant commentary on interracial dating

and relationships, and was Woodson's attempt at a Romeo and Juliet retelling.

I enjoyed how much time we spent getting to know these characters in the context of their

families before this relationship had a chance to bloom.

Next I finished a short story collection I have been working on for a couple weeks, which

was called Joy to the Worlds by Raven Oak, Gayle Clemans, Janine A. [Southard], and Maia Chance.

This is a collection of speculative fiction stories set around the winter holidays, and

overall I really enjoyed it.

As usual with a collection of short stories, there were some that stood out to me more

than others, such as Ol' St. Nick, which was a closed room murder of Santa Claus on

a spaceship, and Escape from Yorktown, which featured a mock Victorian village becoming

refuge to the Intergalactic President's teenage son who was running away.

If you are looking for a winter read that is a little different from your cosy mysteries

or contemporaries, this is one to pick up.

Next, I read To Be Honest by Maggie Ann Martin all in one sitting, and had some feelings,

which made the author have some feelings.

This book is about Savannah, a fat, brainy teen whose older sister is going off to college,

which sucks because she doesn't know how to survive living with their mother without

her sister's support and mediation.

Their parents divorced a couple years back after he was caught cheating, and her Mom

went on a reality weight loss show that had her losing an extreme amount of weight in two months.

Now Savannah has to live with her mother constantly monitoring her food, especially since the

show wants to come to their house to film a catch up segment, on top of trying to have

a stellar year at high school and managing her crush on her best friends' cousin.

I tore through this book.

It felt like the perfect length, because even though there was a lot going on in Savvy's

life, if any of those subplots were taken out, it would have felt too short.

High school is a busy time for overachievers, and does not slow down for familial drama.

This was an excellent portrayal of a situation where Momma does not know best just because

she's the parent, and a reminder that support can come from many different avenues in your

life, even if the ones that should be automatic initially fail.

In between editing clips from Drunk Reading Christmas Erotica for the Holidays, I rewatched

Dumplin', because that movie is amazing, and if you haven't seen it already, you should.

Speaking of people who haven't seen Dumplin' yet, my best friend and I watched a couple more

episodes of Survivor China, which brought us to the merge.

I think I have been spoiled by more recent seasons as to what is going to happen with

those two immunity idols, but we'll find out.

I also watched quite a few episodes of Steven Universe, finishing the third season and watching

some episodes from the fourth season.

Not only is the show adorable, it deals with emotions that well up when you are trying to fight these

creatures to save the planet but you don't want to hurt them.

We've seen some new fusions, and I love them.

This week I listened to The Book Jumper by Mechthild Gläser.

This is a novel translated from German that I first saw on my friend Taylor's channel

when she did the most adorable book haul, which I will link in places.

After hearing her talk about this book, I happened to see it while scrolling the audiobooks

in my library, and it was an instant download.

Amy and her mother Alexis need to get away from home for a while, so they find themselves

visiting Alexis' mother in the Shetlands for the first time since she ran away as a pregnant teenager.

On this island of about 14 people, Amy finds out that she is one of three humans that can

book jump - that is, she can pop into stories.

In fact, her family and a rival family have been doing this for years just to make sure

that everything is okay in the book world, but, of course, soon after her arrival, elements

of famous stories start to go astray.

Firstly, listening to this one was a good choice, because the narrator does fantastic accents

for the characters, and it made me want to visit the Shetland islands in the north of

Scotland even more.

Secondly, the mysteries in this book really kept me wondering who was to blame, and I

appreciated all of the cameos by famous fictional characters.

I felt this story was imaginative, and if you are a sucker for bookish books like I

am, you will enjoy it.

Finally, I listened to My Sister, the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite.

Set in Nigeria, this story opens with Korede helping her sister Ayoola clean up after the

death of her most recent boyfriend.

Ayoola claims that he attacked her and it was self defense, but Korede knows this is not

the first time that someone has died when her sister is holding a weapon.

Korede has always been there to help her gorgeous little sister escape detection, but what will

happen when Ayoola has her heart set on dating the man Korede's had a crush on for three years?

How can she keep both of the people she loves safe?

This was a short book, but it really got into the mindset of why Korede would help her little

sister, especially when you learn the circumstances of the her first kill.

The anticipation of whether or not the characters would be caught really drove the story, because

the author built up a lot of sympathy for Korede, who is just trying to help her sister,

and if her sister gets caught, she gets caught.

If you are looking for something short to get your blood pumping, pick this one up.

That's it for this week.

Hey, what's up guys! It's C&J!

Welcome back to our channel!

Today I will be reacting to old pictures of Charlie.

So instead of him reacting to old pictures of me,

it's me reacting to old pictures of him.

I've seen a couple

and

they're beautiful. I'm just saying.

They're probably the best thing I've ever seen in my entire life.

and I -

When I'm sad I look at them so

so I can get a good laugh.

Okay, I'm gonna start.

Why is that the first one?

Look at you!

Oh my gosh.

Where's your hair?

See? I told you. He freaking looks like -

You got a big old head.

I know.

I don't wanna talk about that time.

Dang. You're like

You're literally this big.

How old were you when you took this?

Middle school.

Oh. So it was like before -

Seventh grade.

You're literally like - smaller than my pinky.

I was a skinny boy.

I can just feel your ego

coming through the picture.

By the way you're biting your lip -

you got a nice ego, I see.

Were you very confident in yourself then?

I was then.

Why aren't you now?

Lowkey, you freaking look like mr. steal your girl.

That's terrible.

Mr. Steal your girl.

Oh my gosh.

Do you still have that tank top?

I do.

Really?

Somewhere.

Again with the lip biting.

Do it now.

No.

You gotta recreate this.

Is that you?

Yes. In the red.

With my alien head.

You got a big head.

Oh my gosh.

All I see is glasses and a mouth.

Honestly.

Where's the rest of your face?

I didn't have one then.

Oh my gosh

and where's your hair? That doesn't even look like you had

the

it doesn't even look like you have the buzz cut.

Were you like, completely bald at one point?

No.

You weren't?

That was - my birthday?

Was that my birthday?

How old were you?

That's still the seventh grade.

So you were like, twelve?

Yeah?

What are you doing?

I was posing.

I was being scandalous.

Nice butt, though.

That booty, though.

Look at his little chubby cheeks!

Little Charlie!

That doesn't even look like you.

I haven't seen these pictures in a long time.

Oh my gosh.

They're still chubby.

They're so cute.

Look at the little Charlie!

That's my favorite picture.

When I've just rolled out of bed that's what I look like.

That's what I look like when I've just first rolled out of bed.

That is exactly what I look like.

I'm laughing more at Zion than at you.

That is the cheesiest smile.

He's like, "Hey. I don't wanna be here."

"I just wanna go home."

Little Charlie!

Look at the little chubby cheeks!

You're so cute!

You're so precious.

And again with the lip biting.

Why are you always biting you're lip?

Even as a baby you were like,
