Ukraine is the Paris Hilton of countries… anytime it's in the news, it's not for

anything good.

For the last few decades, Ukraine has been the

scene of the worst nuclear catastrophe, a military conflict with Russia and the biggest

corruption scandals you can imagine.

But… look, there is another thing Ukrainian politicians have in common with Paris Hilton:

they both have a lot of money.

After the fall of the

Soviet Union, Ukraine's economy stopped being managed by the state and started being

managed by the state's friends.

These are the so called

oligarchs and you can find them in all of the country's political parties, pro Russian

and anti Russian alike.

For example, the current

president, PETRO POROSHENKO is also known as the 'King of Chocolate' because he

owns the biggest chocolate company in the country.

And the

former president, YULIA TIMISHENKO is known as the 'Gas Princess' because she made

a lot of money in the gas industry.

In other words: things

changed, but everything stayed the same.

Nonetheless, things are really starting to change in Ukraine.

But, make no mistake; these changes are not for the better.

In fact, the opposite

is true.

You see, in a previous video, we told you how Russia is Europe's main gas provider.

For example, Germany buys 60% of their natural gas from

Russian companies like GAZPROM or ROSNEFT.

And how does this gas arrive?

Well…

most of it comes from gas pipes that cross Ukrainian soil.

So what does this all mean?

It means that, despite Ukraine having little gas resources, they are still a hot spot in

this business.

And this… is

when Vladimir Putin comes into the picture!

To this day, Putin needs Ukraine to supply Europe with gas.

But, as you know, the relationship between Putin and Kiev currently has a status of

'it's complicated', to say the least.

So after decades of love and Slavic fraternity, the Government of Ukrainian president Poroshenko

wants to

stay away from Putin as much as possible.

As you can imagine, this political divorce doesn't make Russia happy.

Anytime their gas goes through Ukrainian territory, they have to pay a

millionaire's share of alimony to their ex wife.

But this is not the end of the story!

As long as Ukraine is in the center of the gas routes,

Kiev will have a better position to negotiate with Moscow and even Brussels.

In other words: Ukraine matters as long as we need them for gas.

So what's Putin's strategy, then?

Well, check this out.

Russians Insist On New Pipeline To Bypass Ukraine, And Europeans Fine With It

Yes, my dear viewers, Russia wants to take Ukraine out of the gas route equation.

This way, Ukraine would lose their strategic value, which

would mean that neither America, nor the European Union would really care about them in the

case of a potential new Russian invasion.

So the question now is…

Can this strategy work?

Will the European Union let Russia bypass Ukraine?

Today we're going to answer all of these

questions but, before we do, let's take a look back at the history.

IF YOU ARE NOT MINE, THEN YOU WILL NOT BE ANYBODY ELSE'S

In the year 2000, 70% of the Russian gas arriving to Europe came from Ukraine.

More specifically, it came from the so called BROTHERHOOD gas

pipe.

This pipeline was built in the times of the Soviet Union and it become more important

as the demand for Russian gas grew.

The other 30%

came from the YAMAL pipe, in Belarus, but that's another story.

When the Soviet Union fell apart, Ukraine became an independent nation.

And this was the moment when the Kiev politicians started to see the

business clearly.

"Russia has the gas reserves but they need us to sell to the Germans so… they should

pay us a fare."

Nowadays, this fare is more than 2 billion dollars a year, but it used to be even higher.

Thanks to the so called TRANSIT RIGHTS, the State

owned gas company in Ukraine, NAFTOGAZ, became a behemoth: all of this, despite having almost

no gas resources in the country.

As you can imagine, this isn't just about economics here.

Both in Russia and Ukraine, everything is a political weapon.

So anytime Kiev had a

Russian friendly government, GAZPROM sold them cheap gas.

But when Kiev didn't have Russian friendly politicians in office, prices went sky

high.

We already discussed this in another video, the first one in this series on Russian Gas.

The gas negotiations between Russia and Ukraine led to

a supply cut in 2006 and 2009.

The last one, in 2009, caused the rest of Europe to go without gas too.

And this was when Russia started a new strategy.

Putin phoned his friend, the former German chancellor and current ROSNEFT president,

GERHARD

SCHROEDER.

And GERHARD SCHROEDER phoned the current German chancellor, ANGELA MERKEL.

This is how they sold the first project to bypass Ukraine:

the NORD STREAM 1 pipeline.

This pipeline goes through the Baltic sea, straight from Russia to Germany.

One year later, in 2010, YANUKOVICH won the Ukrainian presidency.

YANUKOVICH is a Pro Russian politician.

So the good times and the cheap gas

prices came back.

But in 2014, we had the EUROMAIDAN.

Do you remember those protests in Kiev?

This took YANUKOVICH out of office and brought a

brand new anti Russian government to Ukraine.

And this is when Putin said "If I can't have you, nobody can."

Since 2015, GAZPROM, Russia's main gas company, started the ultimate plan to bypass Ukraine.

For one, they started the NORDSTREAM 2, through the

Baltic.

And on the Southern side, Gazprom is building the TURKSTREAM, that sends gas through the

BLACK SEA as far as Turkey.

According to the

GAZPROM president, by the year 2020, that good old Brotherhood pipeline will carry less

than 10% of what it used to.

But hold on just a second!

Because, so far, it seems like Russia is just plain bad and Ukraine is a poor victim, right?

In fact, things are far

more complicated.

Let's dig deeper into this, shall we?

THE UKRAINIAN JUGGERNAUT Naftogaz is far more than a gas company.

In fact, it's sort of a job agency!

They have more than 175,000 workers.

Yes, you heard that right.

To

put that into perspective, the equivalent of Naftogaz in Poland, PGNIG, which is also

owned by the state, only employs 25,000 people.

In other words, in Ukraine, you're nobody if you don't have a relative working for

Naftogaz.

As you can imagine, Naftogaz is a black hole on Ukrainians' finances.

It's like if Paris Hilton was taking care of the accounting.

You know,

with so many people working for a state owned enterprise, money disappears and nobody knows

why.

According to the Institute for Economic

Research and Policy Consulting, a Ukrainian think tank, NAFTOGAZ loses more than 3 billion

dollars a year from corruption.

This company is

always reporting financial loses.

And we aren't talking about a little bit of money here.

Just in 2014, Naftogaz losses accounted for 6% of the

entire Ukrainian GDP.

But right there, in 2014, we had the Euromaidan.

And that meant very fast changes.

Changes like this one.

Ukrainian police detain Naftogaz Chairman of Board Yevhen Bakulin

The new CEO of the company is this man you see on the screen, ANDRIY KOBOLIEV, a 40 year

old consultant.

His job could be summarized in two

goals: ending corruption and ending Russian dependency.

And now you might wonder… is he serious about this?

Well… so far, things look good.

Both the European Union and IMF have pushed Ukraine to do

their homework and, it seems like they are trying…

GSE announces new improvements of the storage transparency initiative - Naftogaz of Ukraine

joins Gas Storage Inventory (AGSI+) Since then, Naftogaz has started to make a

profit.

After decades of financial losses, now they account for 13% to the Ukrainian state's

income.

And now you might wonder… what did KOBOLYEV do?

What was his magic formula?

First of all, as is always the case with state monopolies, the prices were controlled by

the Government.

This meant really cheap gas, and

Ukrainian consumers who were used to paying these artificially low prices.

Now, Naftogaz has raised prices to a level equal to that of other

European countries.

Second of all, Kobolyev has confronted Putin with a lot of… lateral thinking.

You see, Gazprom wanted to raise gas prices for Ukraine.

But not

for the rest of the European countries.

So what did Ukraine do?

Instead of fighting with Moskow, they started to buy gas from other European

countries like…

Slovakia.

But, wait, wait a minute here…

Does Slovakia have gas resources?

Of course not!

Listen to this.

The contracts with GAZPROM say that, once the gas arrives in an EU country, Russia loses

control over it.

This means that, the buyer can do

whatever they want with the gas.

So now, Slovakia gets their Russian gas through the Brotherhood pipe and, then, it goes through

the same pipe,

back to Ukraine.

So Slovakia buys Russian gas and then Ukraine buys it from Slovakia.

Thanks to this, Naftogaz has cut a fourth of their

importing costs.

But this is just the beginning!

Kobolyev keeps looking for alternatives!

For example?

AZERBAIJAN.

As we said in other videos, Azerbaijan has

lots of gas.

And they are building a pipeline, the TRANS ANATOLIAN, which goes to Italy.

Kiev wants to connect to this pipe through Bulgaria.

But… we'll dig deeper into this in our closing video for this series.

Because, believe me, Azerbaijan is another interesting topic that deserves

a video on its own.

If you don't want to miss it, don't forget to subscribe.

So going back to our story, it seems that Ukraine is doing a great job cleaning up corruption,

right?

Well… wait a minute because, as we always

say on VisualPolitik, not everything is all sunshine and rainbows.

If Ukraine wants to fully adapt to European standards, they should liberalize

their gas market.

This would mean that Naftogaz would no longer be a monopoly and they would have to split

the company into several, smaller

ones.

One would be focused on gas production, another one would manage domestic consumption… and

so on.

And, as you can imagine, this is where

the problems come in!

EU and Ukraine in tug of war over Naftogaz unbundling

As you can imagine, as much as Kobolyev wants to clean up the company, too many oligarchs

have been too good to the company for too long.

Yes,

the company can be owned by the state but… this is no excuse to not have millionaire

salaries and millionaire bribes.

And this is hard to just

stop from one day to the next.

But this is not the worst part!

You see… in march 2019, Ukraine will have elections again.

And the result will be decisive for Naftogaz's

future.

And… of course, my dear viewers, Russia has a perfectly defined agenda for this.

Let's have a look at it!

ECONOMICS VERSUS GEOPOLITICS Germany has made it all clear: they will build

the NORDSTREAM 2 pipeline.

Both Brussels and Washington are against it.

In fact, Donald Trump has

been the biggest critic.

He kind of said that even Paris Hilton would do a better job than Germany when it comes

to having a good energy policy.

And now you might wonder…

How is it possible that Angela Merkel has let herself be seduced by Vladimir Putin?

Yes, you know that the former

German chancellor, Gerhard Schroeder, is Putin's man in Europe.

But… there is more to it than that.

Basically, Germany has a big dilemma.

On one hand, their industry needs gas.

A LOT of gas.

The safer and cheaper, the better.

And, putting

politics aside, NordStream 2 is the best option economy wise.

First, it is cheap.

Second, it avoids all the potential gas wars with Ukraine.

The problem?

This gaspipe would make Germany even more dependent on Russia.

Meanwhile, Putin is happy.

He can bypass Ukraine and also, destroy their economy.

In this regard, Russia's intentions are more obvious than your

ex girlfriend's when she wanted to "have a coffee with you".

Want an example?

Have a look at this map!

This is the Black sea.

And this little sea to the North is the AZOV sea.

Both seas are connected by the KERCH strait.

And Ukraine has two

important harbours in the AZOV sea.

So what did Russia do?

They built a bridge right at the Kerch strait.

A bridge that makes most of the ships

unable to arrive or to leave the Azov sea.

This is why you hear so much news about military escalation in this region now.

So now you might wonder… why is Russia trying so hard to bankrupt Ukraine?

It is all about jealousy?

Of course not!

The thing is… the worse the

anti Russian Ukrainian government does, the better things are for the pro Russian candidates

in the elections.

And is there any pro Russian candidate running in the 2019 Ukrainian elections?

Well… the answer is… anything is possible here!

Here's an example of how crazy this country can be.

In Ukraine they have a TV show called 'Servant of the people'.

The star is a teacher who

fights corruption.

OK, so there's already an actual political party based on this series.

The actor who plays the role of that teacher is the

candidate.

His name is VLADIMIR ZELENSKY.

And… does he have any real chance of winning?

Well… just look at this.

Tymoshenko leading presidential candidate poll, followed by Poroshenko, Zelensky and

Hrytsenko Yes, you heard that right.

He's in the third place, followed by the King of Chocolate and the Gas Princess.

So… yes, it is impossible to predict

what's going to happen.

There is just one clear thing in this story.

And that's that AZERBAIJAN is having a really good time.

But we'll talk

about this in the next video.

So in the meantime, the question for you is…

What would you do if you were Germany?

Would you take that cheap

Russian gas in exchange for leaving Ukraine alone?

Or you would sacrifice competitiveness for political interest?

Please, leave your answer in the comments section below.

Chest X Ray Interpretation Explained Clearly - How to read a chest Xray - Duration: 10:31.

welcome to another MedCram lecture we're going to talk about chest x-rays

today how to interpret them how to review them in a systematic way so an

x-ray is simply a film that is looking at material hitting the film and causing

it to either be dark or white it's a black and white film and that correlates

to about five different areas of density so everything's black and white going

from black this represents basically air so things that are air density on the

chest x-ray are going to appear black things that are dark gray that's usually

subcutaneous tissue or fat three you'll kind of see light gray and that's

usually soft tissues like the heart blood vessels things of that nature

four is going to be just off-white and this is going to be bone so ribs

clavicle things of that nature and then finally you're gonna see bright white

and so this is things like metal which is sometimes seen on chest x-rays either

because of pacemakers defibrillators or even buckshot from gunshot wounds so

these are your five things that you're generally going to see now because of

these different densities you're going to notice things on the chest x-ray if

there is a difference in density by objects that are next to each other

for instance if we've got object a sitting next to object B the only way

you're going to be able to see this line that separates them is if the density of

B is of one of these five different densities and it is different than the

density of a let's give an example of this here you've got the hemidiaphragm

at the sits at the bottom of the lungs that hemidiaphragm is made out of muscle

and right below it sits the liver both of which would be sawed

tissue and would be light gray okay so that's soft tissue density well right

above that is the lung and the lung is air density and so because you have two

objects right next to each other with different densities on this list you're

going to actually see that line very well now if something were to happen in

that lung let's say there were an ammonia that pneumonia in that area is

going to turn this air dense lung into a water dense lung and so therefore this

demarcating line is going to disappear and you're not going to see it on the

x-ray and so if you lose that line you can say then that there is no

demarcation there between the different densities so you would call that a right

lower lobe pneumonia that's as an example now there are many ways of going

through this in a systematic way one that was proposed by Talley and O'Connor

at the Trinity School of Medicine in Dublin Ireland that's just one of many

examples but let's go through a normal chest x-ray and kind of go through the

ABCs of how this works okay but before I do that let me just go

through a couple of basics so if you've got a person standing which is usually

the best way of doing a chest x-ray there's two ways of doing it you can

either shoot the film from front to back which is known as an AP or from back to

front which is known as a PA posterior-anterior versus anterior

posterior and it's really all about where you put the board the board that's

collecting the x-rays if the board is behind the patient like this that's

called an AP that's typically what you do in a portable x-ray when the patient

is in the intensive care unit when the patient's ambulatory the board is going

to go in front now the reason why it's better to have it in front is that the

heart and those objects are going to be closest to the film and that way you're

going to get less artificial increase in size you know that when you're playing

puppet with shadows against the wall that the

farther you move away from the wall the bigger your hand shadow is going to be

and it's the same way with x-rays the closer you are to that plate the more

truer and better focused you're going to be on getting the actual true size of

that object so in generally speaking a PA film is probably the best now with a

PA film they usually do something called a lateral film as well basically a side

view and so that way on an x-ray you're only gonna see two dimension on a

lateral film you'll be out actually make out three dimensions and you'll be able

to see things behind the heart for instance Whittle just pair as though

it's in the middle of the heart on a lateral film you'll actually be able to

see it behind the heart and be able to localize better where that object is so

generally speaking in a hospital but a patient is sick laying in a bed you're

just gonna get one view an AP view which is susceptible to magnification of the

heart and the vessels in an outpatient setting where the patient's ambulatory

you're gonna get a to view PA and lateral what you're not going to get

magnification artificially and you're going to be able to get a better view

now generally speaking we'd like to have patients take a deep breath in when they

shoot the film that way we can accentuate and see very well all the

different areas of the lungs however there's a couple of situations that you

should know where you want to do a exhalation film and that is when you're

trying to look for a pneumothorax and the reason for that is that's what it's

going to make the pneumothorax or the pleural air to be greatest and most

accentuated okay the other reason why you might want to do that is if there is

an elective caesarean more specifically because that air trapping is going to be

accentuated on exhalation because all of the air is out of the lung except for

that area where air is not able to come out so these are the two areas where I

would do a film on exhalation rather than inhalation well that being said

when you approach a chest x-ray the thing that you really want to make sure

is that you're looking at the right x-ray nothing is worse it's going

through the whole process of looking at an x-ray only to realize

that a it's either the wrong patient or B it's from the wrong date and once

you've got that then you can move on to the systematic review okay so here is an

x-ray for review notice that this little marker up here which says L on it is

referring to the side of the patient remember that the right side of the

screen is always the left side of the patient and vice versa so the first

thing that I like to do is I like to do a first a is the trachea I like to look

for the trachea as you can see it comes down in this area right here and then

notice that it branches this way and if you can make it out you can see it

branches this way and down like this now looking at the trach it is important

because you can tell if it's being shifted in one direction or the other if

it's being shifted in one direction or the other that could mean the presence

of a pleural effusion or atelectasis pulling or pushing the trachea in one

direction or the other the other thing too is if the patient is intubated I can

see if the endotracheal tube is in that trachea as well and we typically want

that between three to five centimeters away from the Carina which is right

there so one example of this for instance if we had a lot of fluid on

this side either inside or outside the lung let's say we had whiting out on one

side of the lung the question is is that a pleural effusion or is that a complete

add elective the right lung and the way you'd be able to tell is if this was a

pleural effusion a pleural effusion pushes and so the trachea would be

deviated to the opposite side however if it was an elective

atelectasis is a collapsible lung it would pull it towards the right side of

the patient or the left side of the screen the next thing I like to look at

is B or bone so I'd like to look at and compare the bony structures paying very

close attention to site size shape shadows and borders

you've got the Clavin holes right here okay so you can look

for any kind of fractures you'll notice here there's like a cacophony of ribs

going by the ones that are very horizontal are the posterior aspect of

the ribs and then you'll see ones in the front that are coming down these are the

anterior portion so you can see if those are fractured or not this one right up

here at the top you can see here right above the clavicle is related to the

first rib you see the second ribs here as well you can also look at the spinous

processes and see if they're lined up all the way down and you can look along

the edge and see if there's any compression fractures so these regular

intervals will be disturbed if there's any compression fractures so you can

look at those as well the other thing you can look at is for lytic lesions in

the bone I don't see any here this is a normal x-ray but sometimes you can find

lytic lesions and these are look like basically holes in the bone so they have

air density inside of bone density sometimes you can find some extra

cervical ribs which a little bit off of this but you wouldn't be able to see

that here so that's B for bone so we've covered a and B join us for the next

video where we talk about cardiac which is C thanks for joining us

you

What is a dimension? - Duration: 6:56.

hey guys.

this is space train.

your daily express till the edge of the space.

and today we will talk about, dimensions.

grab your tickets and lets go.

Ask someone to name every dimension they know of and they'll likely list the following:

length, width, and depth.

They might also add time if they're thinking outside the three-dimensional box.

But asking a string theorist, "How many dimensions are there?" would elicit a very

different response.

According to this branch of theoretical physics, there are at least 10 dimensions of space,

most of which are impossible for humans to perceive.

what is a dimension?

Dimensions are the metrics that physicists use to describe reality.

Sounds broad, right?

Let's start with the three dimensions most people learn in grade school.

The spatial dimensions—width, height, and depth—are the easiest to visualize.

A horizontal line exists in one dimension because it only has length; a square is two-dimensional

because it has length and width.

Add depth and we get a cube, or a three-dimensional shape.

These three coordinates are used to pinpoint an object's location in space.

But space isn't the only plane we exist on; we also exist in time, which is where

the fourth dimension comes in.

Once we know a dot's altitude, longitude, latitude, and position in time, we have the

tools needed to plot its existence in the universe as we know it.

But some physicists who subscribe to string theory argue there's more to reality than

the observable universe.

String theory, also known as "superstring theory," aims to unify two main theories describing

how the universe works: general relativity (which applies to very large objects) and

quantum mechanics (which applies to very small ones).

In a four-dimensional universe, this theory wouldn't be possible, but once scientists

tweaked the math to include 10 dimensions—11 including time—their equations worked.

After coming up with a theory that hinges on the existence of 10 space dimensions, string

theorists then had the job of explaining where those new dimensions were hiding.

Their answer: They are just as real as the "big" dimensions we can see, but the extra

dimensions are curled up so tightly that they're too small for us to notice directly.

we will try to visually show how all of this 10 dimensions look like.

The first dimension, as already noted, is that which gives it length (aka. the x-axis).

A good description of a one-dimensional object is a straight line, which exists only in terms

of length and has no other discernible qualities.

Add to it a second dimension, the y-axis (or height), and you get an object that becomes

a 2-dimensional shape (like a square).

The third dimension involves depth (the z-axis), and gives all objects a sense of area and

a cross-section.

The perfect example of this is a cube, which exists in three dimensions and has a length,

width, depth, and hence volume.

Beyond these three lie the seven dimensions which are not immediately apparent to us,

but which can be still be perceived as having a direct effect on the universe and reality

as we know it.

Scientists believe that the fourth dimension is time, which governs the properties of all

known matter at any given point.

Along with the three other dimensions, knowing an objects position in time is essential to

plotting its position in the universe.

The other dimensions are where the deeper possibilities come into play, and explaining

their interaction with the others is where things get particularly tricky for physicists.

According to Superstring Theory, the fifth and sixth dimensions are where the notion

of possible worlds arises.

If we could see on through to the fifth dimension, we would see a world slightly different from

our own that would give us a means of measuring the similarity and differences between our

world and other possible ones.

In the sixth, we would see a plane of possible worlds, where we could compare and position

all the possible universes that start with the same initial conditions as this one (i.e.

the Big Bang).

In theory, if you could master the fifth and sixth dimension, you could travel back in

time or go to different futures.

In the seventh dimension, you have access to the possible worlds that start with different

initial conditions.

Whereas in the fifth and sixth, the initial conditions were the same and subsequent actions

were different, here, everything is different from the very beginning of time.

The eighth dimension again gives us a plane of such possible universe histories, each

of which begins with different initial conditions and branches out infinitely (hence why they

are called infinities).

In the ninth dimension, we can compare all the possible universe histories, starting

with all the different possible laws of physics and initial conditions.

In the tenth and final dimension, we arrive at the point in which everything possible

and imaginable is covered.

Beyond this, nothing can be imagined by us lowly mortals, which makes it the natural

limitation of what we can conceive in terms of dimensions.

There are various versions of string-theory equations describing 10-dimensional space.

However, in the 1990s, a mathematician named Edward Witten at the Institute for Advanced

Study in Princeton proposed that String Theory could be simplified if we glanced it from

an 11-dimensional perspective.

This theory is called the M-Theory.

What's more, according to the Bosonic string theory, there are up to 26 dimensions.

if you want to learn more about string theory, watch our previous two episodes.

you can find links down below.

However.

all of these extra dimensions are beyond our vision.

we have no evidence that can prove they truly exist.

but that does not stop scientists have some fun, and make our already complex world, even

more complicated.

don't forget to comment, what do you think, how many extra dimensions are there, or do

they exist at all.

There are lots of questions left, so don't space out and live some space in your brainfor

answers.

Animecon 2018 | Spend all the money 💸 PT3 - Duration: 5:44.

Hi everyone! I have everything ready to check out

and we're heading to the convention to try to see the store really quick

and after, around 15h, go to the airport

honestly I hope to see interesting things to buy

but at the same time I hope I don't see a lot

because first - expensive, second - my suitcase is full

Ok, I already have my things - here's my suitcase

Ended up not buying a lot in the dealer room, only bought for me a pin and a mini figure, a keychain

but I wanted to buy a really pretty figure of Asuna but...

it was too big to take it in my suitcase and I was scared it would get broken so yeah

will try to find it online

and now I'm heading to the lobby to catch the taxi

together with - I think it's Germany's team and yeah, they are taking us to the airport

and after I have 2h till my flight

will watch anime (till then)

as I said, the good thing is most animes' episodes came out on Saturday so I have some to catch up

Ok guys I'm home!

Finally! It's always good to come back from Netherlands because I always get an extra hour

so the day seems to be longer

The last day went well! Unfortenatly I didn't spend as much time as I wanted in the stores

but saw a bit of the cosplay competition, for solo contestants which was also interesting

and I bought for me a mini keychain/figure of Emilia, from Re:Zero

I had already bought one from Rem, last year, basically from the same "pack"

and at the time I was a bit sad for not buying Emilia, since I like both of them

so I decided I was going to buy it if I saw it this year so, yeah, it happened

Top 5 Most Haunted Places In Japan - Duration: 8:42.

Japan - the land of the Rising Sun - a beautiful, awe inspiring realm of ancient traditions

and arcane mysteries that sit comfortably beside one of the most technologically advanced

societies on the planet.

However, deep beneath that - ingrained in Japanese culture and folklore - are the Yurei.

Ghosts.

Their name - consisting of two kanji, Yu - which means faint or dim - and Rei - meaning soul

or spirit - is a phrase synonymous with the abandoned and long lost places where locals

fear to tread.

And believe me - there's a lot of them.

Hello horror fans - and welcome back to the scariest channel on YouTube - Top 5 Scary

Videos.

As always, I'll be your spirit guide Jack Finch - as we tip toe lightly - and take a

look at the Top 5 Most Haunted Places In Japan.

For those of you that are interested, that clip was from Ringu, the classic - 1998 version

of The Ring.

Now before we dive into this list horror fans - you know the drill by now, if you're a

fan of this video, ghostly hauntings, Japanese culture - or just Top 5 Scary Videos in general,

then please - be a dear and hit that thumbs up button, as well as that subscribe bell

- so you can stay updated with our latest and greatest uploads.

Also - I'd just like to say a quick thank you to all of our newest subscribers and horror

fans - really, the way the channel is growing and expanding into new horrifying frontiers

is really heartwarming stuff.

So - thank you - we appreciate ya.

Kicking off at Number 5 - Building 2283, Okinawa.

Throughout modern history, and following the events of World War 2 - Japan has seen a large

military occupation, the majority of which come from the US.

Because of that, these collisions of culture have been met with some pretty spooky outcomes.

One of those is Building 2283 at the Kadena Air Base - which is actually a single unit

family home in a residential area, which was historically reserved for mid-grade officers

and high-ranking civilians.

Well - of course, no one lives there anymore - and the Kadena Air Base goes out of their

way to make sure the building is eerily maintained.

Whatever happened before the US moved in is unclear - but tales of a grizzly murder are

the main consensus.

A number of families occupied the residence, but all of them soon reported the same stories.

Water faucets and lights turning on and off by themselves, the sound of children laughing

and crying just out of earshot - and the sight of a woman washing her hair constantly in

the utility sink.

Allegedly, the origin of the haunting comes from a family who occupied the house sometime

in the late 70s.

A teenage girl - who was obsessed with keeping herself clean - and an abusive stepfather

that stabbed her to death, and then killed himself.

Next up at Number 4 - Gridley Tunnel, Yokosuka

Again - another ghostly tale that comes from the military.

The Gridley Tunnel on the Yokosuka Naval Base - is a narrow, one way tunnel that runs directly

underneath a hill from Gridley Lane to Nimitz Boulevard, an access route running away from

Yokosuka - that was repurposed from an ancient fortification that existed before the modern

Naval Base was built in the 1870s.

Allegedly, the staggering amount of the exact same sighting is what has given this ghost

its legend.

As people drive through the one way tunnel - they glance in the rear view mirror, and

see a bloody Samurai chasing them.

Some people have been so startled by the sighting that they've totalled their vehicle into

the side of the tunnel - and the ghostly Samurai often emerges on rainy nights between midnight

and 1 AM.

As the legend goes, the apparition is the ghost of a long dead Samurai - who was on

his way to avenge the death of his Feudal Lord when he was ambushed by the same same

assassins and brutally killed.

Allegedly, because he failed his mission of vengeance - he cannot leave the tunnel - and

is left to wander eternally.

Coming in at Number 3 - The Hanging Ruins, Osaka

In the Shinsekai District of Osaka - there lies the remains of a burned out four-story

building that has eerily been dubbed by locals as The Hanging Ruins.

As the legend goes - in the early 2000's - the apartment building burned out in a tragic

fire, where it remained for years untouched and unrepaired.

In 2005, an employee of a local Spa located from across the ruins spotted a strange, long

object dangling from its roof.

Well - the employee decided to call the authorities - who investigated and realized that the strange

object was in fact - a corpse.

The next day, there was a mysterious pair of shoes dangling from where the body was

found.

A few years later, another local was passing by - and they spotted what they appeared to

be a life-sized doll hanging from the same rooftop.

Eerily enough - it turned out to be yet another corpse - and yet again, another mysterious

pair of shoes were founding dangling the next day.

Eventually, curious folk started throwing pairs of shoes from the building - in tribute

to the mysterious corpses found there.

As far as the residents of Osaka are concerned - there have been at least three bodies found

in the Hanging Ruins - yet who they were, or what they were - remains a mystery.

Swinging in at Number 2 - The Doryodo Ruins, Tokyo

Doryodo - also referred to as the Haunted Temple of Hachioji and translates roughly

to the End of the Road Temple is known as one of the most haunted locations in Japan,

and has been host to some grizzly and ghostly tales throughout its history, ever since it

was first constructed in 1590.

As one of it's many legends goes - in 1963 - an 82 year old woman who was in charge of

maintaining the site was approached by a robber.

The woman tried to fight back against the criminal - and was tragically killed as a

result.

Days later, locals reported the ghostly sounds of a woman sobbing in the forest - a spirit

that was tragically bound to the ruins.

Exactly 10 years later - in 1973 - a female university student was caught up in an affair

with her English literature professor - who was married and had 2 small children.

When word of the affair got out - things ended tragically, and the professor ultimately killed

the young girl - burying her body in a shallow grave at the site of the Doryodo Ruins.

It didn't end there though - the act of murder drove the professor to madness, and

weeks later - the corpse of him, his wife and his two children were found washed up

by some nearby cliffs.

To this day, locals have reported hearing a young woman whispering - I'm here, I'm

here - alongside the sound of an old woman sobbing.

And finally - at our Number 1 spot - Aokigahara Forest, Yamanashi

Of course - it has to be - perhaps the most notorious and infamous location in the whole

of Japan.

Aokigahara Forest, also known as The Sea of Trees - is a beautiful location that historically

has harbored a very dark and eerie past.

Since the 1800s - the forest, which sits in the shadow of Mount Fuji - has had a reputation

with being a gateway for the yurei - the ghosts of the dead in Japanese mythology, and has

been revered as a location and site for communicating with spirits.

It was also connected to the ancient practice of ubasute - a mythical Japanese practice

where an elderly person was taken to a forest to die.

It wasn't until 1961 that the Forest began it's grizzly reputation with suicide, when

a famous Japanese writer Seicho Matsumoto penned the novel Nami no To - Tower of Waves,

where the lead characters tragically committed suicide in the confines of the forest.

In 2010 - more than 200 people attempted to take their own lives in the forest, and tragically

that figure continues to rise - as Japan struggles to confront its staggering suicide rate and

battle with mental illness.

Aokigahara Forest continues to be a human reminder of these lives lost - and the tormented

spirits that still linger.

Well - there we have it folks, the Top 5 Most Haunted Places In Japan.

Before we depart, let's take a look at some of your more creative comments from over the

past few days.

Gabriel Sandoval says - This is my new favourite channel keep up the amazing work.

Well - thank you Gabriel, and it's a pleasure to have you on board - hopefully we can stay

in good standing, pretty tough competition out there, eh?

BadPuns Mcgee says - I love the little witch flying across the moon, nice touch.

-- Wait, what Witch?

Nah, I'm just kidding - that's Agatha, she's the best.

Well - there we have it horror fans - cheers for sticking around all the way to the end.

If you were a fan of this video, make sure to hit that thumbs up button - and we'll

be seeing you in the next one.

What Was The Costliest Mistake In History? - Duration: 7:42.

As the old saying goes, success is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm.

And as we all collectively know - to err is human, but to forgive - divine.

Well, there are some blunders throughout our shared ancestral history that have been a

pretty big deal, and it's not so much forgiveness that has corrected our ways, but the sheer

will and determination that our species has - to take one, big, deep breath - try not

to lose our temper - and wait for this whole thing to blow over.

Well, let's take a look shall we?

What's going on guys - and welcome back to the most inquisitive channel on YouTube

- Life's Biggest Questions.

As per usual, I'll be your disembodied floating voice Jack Finch, as we bite our fist - and

cautiously ask the question, What Was The Costliest Mistake In Human History?

Roll the clip.

It's a broad question - because believe it or not, despite all of our successes - the

human species is pretty fantastic at screwing things up - and time and time again throughout

our history, has ignored the path of least resistance - or over complicated things by

trying to show off, strut their stuff - and whisper those three fateful words - hold my

beer - before the whole thing goes to ruin.

Now - you might be thinking that we're already living in a time period of costly mistakes

- I mean, just take a look at Brexit - but trust me, things have been much, much worse.

Before we chomp on that bit questioneers - here at Life's Biggest Questions, we want nothing

more than to deliver you some of your most ponderous questions imaginable - to whether

you could grow a bonsai tree on the International Space Station, or how many Kraft dinners you

could eat before you get scurvy.

So - if you've got a burning idea for a question that you just can't keep to yourself

- make sure to let us know in the comment box down below.

Also - we hit one million subs - and we love you all, so thank you very much.

Make sure to stick around all the way to the end and I'll be reading out some of your

greatest comments from the past few days.

So, let's rewind a little bit - because back in the day, I mean, way - way back in

the day - sometimes, even the smallest of mistakes meant that the consequences set into

motion a series of unfortunate events that would have calamitous implications thousands

of years down the line.

So to begin - we should take a look at the first big fluff-up in ancient history, the

burning of the Library of Alexandria.

The Great Library of Alexandria in Egypt was one of the largest and most significant libraries

of the ancient world.

After being established, it came to be regarded as the capital of knowledge and higher learning,

and quickly acquired a large number of papyrus scrolls from across the known world on every

scholarly topic imaginable.

It is unknown just exactly how many scrolls were housed there, but estimates have ranged

from 40 thousand - to a staggering 400 thousand.

In the grand scope of things - this was literally the physical equivalent of Wikipedia from

a time where civilization was just beginning to get the hang of the whole existence gig.

Andddd - then enter our boy Julius Caesar, who burned the whole thing to the ground.

Accidently - of course.

In 48 BC - during the Roman Civil War between Caesar and his Populares against the traditionalist

Optimates - which eventually would lead to the transition of the Roman Republic to the

Roman Empire - Julius Caesar was trapped and besieged at the port of Alexandria.

As a last ditch attempt - he ordered his soldiers to burn his own fleet of ships in the cities

docks, so attacking forces would be blocked by sea.

Well - that fire actually spread from the water to the entire city - and as a result,

a large portion of the Library of Alexandria was burned to cinders.

Although the structure survived for another 200 years, the fire completely diminished

its importance to academia - before it was ultimately reduced to rubble in the siege

of Alexandria in 297.

Whatever knowledge kept there has been lost to the sands of time - all because Julius

Caesar hadn't taken his fire safety course.

Ancient history is awash with some terribly poor decisions.

Mainly because the burden of leadership was usually put on one guy with a pointy hat and

a 50/50 chance of having mental health issues.

Let's take a look at perhaps the most devastating military force on the planet - Genghis Khan,

supreme ruler of the Mongol Empire - who's impact on the planet has regularly been understood

to be more disastrous than the Bubonic Plague - so much so that his take over of Asia from

between 1200 and 1380 AD had such an influence that it changed the carbon dioxide levels

on Earth.

Sounds like a pretty tough guy, right?

Well - if only Ala ad-Din Muhammad knew that.

As leader of the empire of what is now known as modern day Iran and Iraq, Ala ad-Din Muhammad

was on the receiving end of a diplomatic trade deal from the big man himself, Genghis Khan.

To put it simply, he made him an offer that he couldn't refuse.

But - err - big no no, because he refused it - and then chopped off the head of the

diplomatic emissary sent by the Khan.

A very costly mistake - because the Mongol Empire reacted by sending over 200 thousand

horseback warriors as a result - completely wiping out the discourteous empire pretty

much overnight.

Good manners go a long way.

It didn't stop there though - poor decision making really ramped up on its approach to

modern history.

Around 1670 - the Dutch empire sailed past Australia, discovering it over 100 years before

Britain managed to do the same.

The Dutch though, didn't think much of the place - and completely ignored it - noting

it as a useless desert.

By 1770 - Captain James Cook of Britain discovered it again, funny how that works eh? - and landed

in Botany Bay.

On the 22nd August 1770 - Britain claimed the eastern coast of Australia as New South

Wales - and the Dutch were none the wiser of the economic impact that Australia would

later have on the global stage.

Gutted.

But I mean - that's a pretty broad stroke, isn't it?

A mistake is easy to address in terms of an entire country - but what about a mistake

made by the Average Joe.

Enter Leopold Loyka - the driver of one particular Archduke of Austria, Franz Ferdinand.

Well, on one fateful day, on Sunday 28th of June 1914 - Leopold was driving Franz and

his wife through the streets of Sarajevo, the capital of the then Austro-Hungarian province

of Bosnia and Herzegovina - when he took a wrong turn down a side street.

Well, that wrong turn would divert them off their planned route of safety - and into the

hands of an assassin - Gavrilo Princip, who was smoking outside of a cafe and couldn't

believe his luck.

He shot and killed both the Archduke and his wife, kicking off the events of the First

World War, a devastating blight on both sides of the European conflict - which would then

lay the foundation for the rise of Hitler and the National Socialist Party - which would

then lead to the Second World War - and a whole load of trouble - all because one driver

took a wrong turn down the wrong side street in Sarajevo.

Well - I think we may have found our winner.

Well, I mean, it's either that or the fact that Blizzard thought it would be a good idea

to make Diablo Immortal.

Do you guys not have phones?

There we have it folks - there are uncountable costly mistakes in history, so let us know

what you think it is in the comment box below.

Before we depart, here's a few of your kindest words from the past few days.

Dank Swizzle says - holy crap your sooooo close to 1 mil.

Well - haven't you heard the news buddy?

We made it!

And we couldn't have done it without Dank Swizzle's such as yourself.

Much love guys - we really appreciate it.

Next up - Justchill 4 Life says - Can you guys do a video on is Australia a hoax just

to clarify that Australia exists to the unbelieving people in the world.

Well - buddy, we don't need to do a whole video on that, because I can tell you now.

Australia is indeed real.

Or is it?!

Nah - I'm just kidding, my mate lives there.

Or does he?!

Nah - he does, it's real.

Anyway guys - cheers for sticking around all the way to the end, hit that thumbs up button

- ding that subscribe bell, and show some love in the comment box below.

Rita Repulsa Nightmare Scene | Power Rangers (2017) Movie Clip - Duration: 4:20.

Okay, quick question.

Hello. Hate to interrupt.

Did I just hear you say we're Power Rangers?

Yes. Yes. You are the Power Rangers.

Any other questions?

- No, I think I'm good. - Good.

I got a question. Um... Hi, how you doing?

Oh, okay... um, my name is Billy. Billy Cranston.

- Kids used to call me Billy Crams-tons... - Billy! Stop.

I'm sorry. Uh... the images here in this sphere

tell a history of the Power Rangers.

Looks like the Power Rangers were a team that protected life.

And life is a bright light. Or... a piece of light?

Yes. Yes, very good, Billy.

It is called the Zeo Crystal.

Oh, I love this part. This is good.

And every planet in the universe that has life

has a piece of the crystal buried inside it.

Sixty-five million years ago,

Zordon's team died defending the crystal here in what is now Angel Grove.

- The coins have chosen you five. - Yes! I knew it!

Now you must protect the Zeo Crystal and life on earth.

Because... we... are the Power Rangers?

He's smart!

I'm sorry, um, is this some kind of joke?

Like, I'm standing here with a wet wedgie.

My socks are soaked. We're squishing around in here.

We're talking to a wall. I mean, guys...

Silence!

Dig! Dig, Goldar!

Sir, I'm detecting elevated heart rates.

They're... they're very scared.

I don't understand.

Why would you show us that nightmare?

It's not a nightmare. It's the future.

- Was that for real? - Felt like it.

- And who was that woman? - Her name is Rita Repulsa.

She will create Goldar,

a huge monster who will rip the crystal from the earth,

and all life on your planet will die.

With the crystal, Rita will have the power to create and destroy worlds.

So, let me guess.

You want us to kill this woman? R... Rita?

Ay, ay, ay! Rita!

She must be stopped.

When is she coming?

She's already here.

My best guess is we have 11 months.

Oh, I'm sorry, days. Days, 11 days.

If we're the Power Rangers and this is our ship,

if I walk through that door right now, will it open for me?

Yes, of course.

Let's go.

Whoa, what you doing?

No, no, no, come back! No. No, please, don't leave.

Jason, my ranger team died defending the crystal from Rita.

That's why I'm in this wall.

How'd you know my name?

Because it's you, Jason Scott.

You are the leader. You are the Red Ranger.

Rita was a ranger, too. And my friend.

But she betrayed us.

Wanted more power.

She lost her way.

Now she is just pure evil.

You must bring them back. All of the rangers.

You must train your team to stop Rita

before she has the strength to find the crystal.

Okay. I'm leaving.

- And I only speak for myself when I... - No! You speak for all of them.

You know that, deep down, what I'm saying is true.

You were born for this.

Top 10 Scary TikTok Videos - Duration: 11:36.

Hello and welcome back to the Most Amazing Channel On The Internet.

I am your host Rebecca Felgate and today we are talking about The Top 10 Scariest Tik

Tok Videos.

If you don't know what Tik Tok is it is the short form video platform that has been

taking off over the past year and it now has over 500 million active users!

People love it?

Let me know if you have it in the comments section down below and if you do, what is

your handle.

I don't have it!

Should I get it?

INSTAGRAM.

We Have PLAY WITH ME at number 10 So here the Tik Tokker has used some kind

of Zombie filter and is rocking some horrifying samara from the ring looking hair.

The face is spooky but the content is spookier, the girl is lip syncing to a scary baby voice

asking if we wanna come play with her in the style of the creepy twins from The Shining.

Let's have a watch and see what you think.

The and ever bit was pretty terrifying but honestly this is kind of like pretty girl

scary, not truly horrifying so I would only give it a 5 out of ten.

I guess it was only a matter of time until SlenderMan got on social media… like is

being a supernatural creep all that lucrative?

Better to be a social media star, am I right?

Here he is at number 9 This is actually pretty freaky…what with

it being Slenderman and all.

Lets have a watch….

CLIP.

So yeah, lock your doors ladies and gents!

While this is scary and the sounds are worrying – I do think that it could be scarier…

I am going to give him a 5/10 here.

Should have been more tentacly.

8 - A Little Mad This is great!

But terrifying….

But great… which is basically the theme of the video but anyway, the red eyes, the

smiley face… it worrysome!

Also this creep kinda looks a bit like jeff the killer, which stresses me out somewhat…

have a lil watch!

Arghh the syringe!

Why the syringe.

WHAT ARE YOU INJECTING ME WITH BOI!

Shall we watch that again?

Like…yeah?

Okay, I give it a 6.5 out of ten.

7 - Behind You I like the edit Caspin Fiona has gone with

here in her spooky Tik Tok Video.

She is singing to the camera but behind her there is a lil creep.

Lets have a lil peep.

I actually think she has done a

great job!

The floor crawl is executed well, I love the supernatural jarring effect and I am not sure

if you can see it too well but she has done some spooky face makeup.

In the style of a Buffy vampire.

Subtly creepy, but creepy none the less, I give this a solid 7 out of ten.

6 - The Ghost!

I like this one quite a lot actually, I like it when Tik Tok users show a bit more creativity

than just zombie filters and lip syncing and this is cool.

So we see a guy put on a ghost sheet with the intention of scarring his friend, possibly

roommate, who know….

Anyway….

This is what happens…..

CLIP.

Hahaa I actually really like that ! I love how he is there sitting on the sofa not even

sorry, proud as punch about his trick in his white socks.

His mate freeeeaks out.

Obviously this is just clever editing but I like how it is sone and a good performance

from both guys.

I give this a spooky 7 out of ten.

It isn't that scary but there are points for effort!

I SEE YOU at number 5 All it takes is a spooky filter, a whispery

ghoulish track, some makeup and some clever editing…

I made that sound easy… but actually I don't think it is.

Let's watch this one and see what happens….

I SEE YOU!

This is worrying…

I feel like she looks like a member of the SCP foundation!

I am giving this a solid 7/10 for spooks!

DOLL at number 4 WOAH WOAH WOAH….

Since when did dollsstart making scary videos.

Dolls scare me more than anything ! Actually….dolls are tied with little girl ghosts in the creepiness

in my mind…so a ghostly little girl doll thing is really high up there in terms of

worrying things.

Let's watch…..

Yeah okay nothing too bad happens but honey is sinister and I don't trust here.

She gets a hard no and a 7/10 from me.

Let's watch that one more time……

ARGH!

It

is all in the vacant eyes….and the pop goes the weasel music.

I DO NOT WANT HER TO GO POP!

3 - ZOMBIE I thought this was going to be another cute

girl lip syncs to a kind of spooky song with hot girl sexy cat make up, but actually, I

think this is scary!

Have a watch and let me know what you think!

CLIP WOAH.

Good make up job, it really does look like she has been scratched in the face by a rabid

werewolf….wait….are werewolves rabid…

I guess it doesn't really matter.

Not great on all fronts.

I like how the music was timed to warp with her big reveal too.

Well done girl – I'd give her a 7/10.

Okay are you ready for Calm Fields at number 2

Calm fields?

That doesn't sound scary, Rebecca?

Well I think I am just going to let you watch this one… a guy is sat on a lovely looking

chair with pan pipe style music watching a car drive through the countryside….

Have a look.

CLIP.

AH his reaction!

He falls off the chair he is truly terrified - On a scale of one to 10 I give this an 8

because the jumpscare did GET me!

1 - The Singer This Tik Tok gets scarier the longer you think

about it and the more times you watch it.

ITS JUST SO WEIRD!

Which makes it even creepier.

So it starts off with a woman and her baby on a split screen… then… well… have

a watch ** clip** I actually find this so funny.

Yeah its only 15 seconds but there is so much to dissect here!

Let's have a little watch of the moment the kid and the woman see the creep….. there

faces!

I love how she runs away and leaves the baby for a second and the baby is immediately reduced

to tears!

Then she comes back, grabs her baby and gets OUT of there!

LIKE….

What is the back story.

We may never know.

But if this was a horror story, I would pay good money to watch it!

It's not even that, Luca, it's —

you didn't even tell me you were going to drop our class.

Didn't think it was that deep.

But it's not. It's that you also didn't think to call me when you got back.

You know, people have been saying that we're a little off. And they're right.

People? What people?

My friends.

And why do you care what your friends think?

Because I do. You know, we were having this conversation

about relationship goals, and why we weren't getting them, and—

*Inno e bandiera della Romagna - Duration: 2:16.

I feel nostalgy for a past

where my mom I've left

I can not forget you, my little house

in this starry night

my serenade

I sing for you:

My Romagna!

Blooming Romagna!

You are the star,

you are the love

when I think of you I wish to return

to my beauty at the cottage.

Romagna! My Romagna!

far from you, ywe can't stay!

when I think of you I wish to return

to my beauty at the cottage.

Romagna! My Romagna!

far from you, we can't stay!
