Hey guys!
It's Sher.
Welcome back to my skincare journey!
I'm just playing.
So as I've mentioned before and as you can probably tell from the content of my last
couple videos, I have been very dedicated lately to trying new skincare routines to
see how I can improve my skin.
It doesn't look that bad right now because I have makeup but over the last couple years,
I have definitely noticed a texture change and a lot more redness and irritation than
what I was previously used to.
So in one of my last videos, I tried this high frequency facial device thing.
Then this week, I thought I would try an actual 10 day skincare routine.
Last week, I was at Ulta just browsing, as one does, as I often to to be honest.
One of the workers there overheard me complaining about my skin, like the type of skin that
I have, and how I don't know if its oily or dry and sometimes its both.
Basically my skin is very confused, it has no idea what it is.
And then because of that, I don't really know what to use on it and that goes for makeup,
skincare products, I just try things out and then if they break me out or they irritate
my skin really bad, I just don't use them anymore.
That's literally the process I go through to choose skincare routine items.
Anyway, she overheard me complaining about my skin and she suggested this Clinique 3-step
skincare box which includes a mild facial soap, a clarifying lotion, and a dramatically
different moisturizing lotion.
That's what the box says.
It is for what Clinique labels Skin Type 2 which means you have an oily t-zone and uncomfortably
dry cheeks, which honestly sounds just like me.
The back of the box reads "Life in great skin starts now.
Use this dermatologist developed 3-step system for your skin type twice a day and in 10 days,
see your healthiest skin ever."
So I thought for this video, I would take Clinique up on their challenge and their 3-step
for Skin Type 2 for 10 days and see what happens to my face.
She also said that she recommended this for my skin type because I do have sensitive skin
and all of these products in the skin are supposed to be directed towards sensitive
skin, like they're not supposed to contain a lot of irritants and stuff like that.
This is the mild liquid facial soap, it is the first step in this routine.
The back reads that "this thorough cleansing was developed by Clinique's dermatologists
for the needs of skin comfortable in the cheeks/oily in the t-zone or oily all over".
Hey, that's me!
And it says this is non-drying, so that's a plus for me.
This is the clarifying lotion, which honestly is just another word for exfoliator.
On the back, it says that this is "for dry combination skin, this comfortable non-drying
exfoliator helps create smooth glowing skin, using a cotton ball, sweep over face twice
daily".
That's the second step, the exfoliator.
And then the last step is this moisturizing lotion.
On the back it says that it is "for very dry to dry combination skin and it combines all
day hydration with skin strengthening ingredients".
I have tried this lotion from Clinique before, I know that it is very hydrating, but unfortunately
for me, I've noticed that sometimes it can be a little bit too hydrating.
So I don't know if I'm actually going to use this all over my face or if I'm just going
to use it in the concentrated areas that do experience more dryness than others.
So I'm going to follow this step by step for 10 days twice a day and at the end of those
10 days, I'm going to show you guys the difference in my skin and hopefully its a big one because
my skin needs it.
Unfortunately for everyone, before I use this, I am going to have to take my makeup off.
Prepare yourselves, that's all I'm saying.
I'm back!
With noticeably worse skin, I know, this is like a before of my skin.
I don't know how well you can see it, but yeah, it's pretty bad.
Step one!
So far so good.
The soap doesn't really seem to have that much of a drying effect on my skin, which
is good.
Next is the exfoliator.
It is very cold, it has a really strong cooling sensation on your face for sure.
Then the last step is the moisturizer.
I'm just going to use a really small amount so that my skin doesn't like, um, become too
moisturized because I've, I've had that happen before with this moisturizer.
I will say that the moisturizer goes on your skin very smoothly, like it makes your skin
feel very smooth automatically.
Okay, so that's it!
I'm going to do this twice daily for 10 days and see what happens.
So I'm on Day 5, about halfway done.
I honestly kind of think that I do see a slight difference in the texture of my skin especially
around my forehead area, I do still have a lot of redness, but at the same time, the
smoothness of my skin in the areas that were previously not smooth have definitely improved.
I mean, it's obviously not perfect but I see a slight improvement.
There were some days where I just decided to go ahead and skip the moisturizer completely
because none of the areas of my face felt dry enough to use it because it is so moisturizing.
If anything, I felt like at the end of the 10 days, my skin became a little bit oily
almost, so yeah.
I just didn't feel the need to use the moisturizer.
So this is the last day of this skincare routine.
There is definitely a change in the texture of my skin in a very positive way because
I really feel like the exfoliator and the cleanser smoothed my skin out quite a bit.
I still have a lot of the redness obviously, I didn't expect it to be a completely dramatic
difference in 10 days to be honest, but my skin does feel a lot smoother and I've noticed
that my makeup goes on a lot smoother than it used to.
I don't really feel like it did anything to tone my skin, but I do love the texture change
because like I said, it makes my skin feel so much smoother and it makes my makeup application
a lot easier.
Alright guys, so that is the end of this 10 day Clinique skincare challenge.
Spoiler alert: This is actually more than 10 days after the challenge ended because
I already bought the exfoliator and the cleanser because I liked them so much.
So I guess that sums up my review.
Even though I didn't really notice a whole lot of difference in tone and color of my
skin, I did notice a definite difference in the texture of my skin, how smooth it is,
and how smooth my makeup goes on now.
And like I said, I liked it so much that I went ahead and bought the full-size versions
of the clarifying lotion and the facial soap.
I would definitely recommend giving this 10 day Clinique challenge a try if you are looking
for a new skincare routine because I liked it so much that its going to keep being my
routine.
Anyway, that is the end of this video.
Thank you guys so much for watching.
I'll probably be trying more skincare type routines in the future so keep your eye out
for that.
Make sure you like this video and subscribe to my channel down below if you haven't done
that yet.
And I will see you guys in my next video.
Bye!
